I'm pretty sure it just takes your highest MMR Killer and then assigns that as your MMR for any new characters.
It worked that way when I first bought Freddy. Zero MMR, didn't even own him.
Played a Nemesis game prior to that, a good 4-man. Not god-tier, but definitely well above the average.
Level 1 Freddy queues up and is instantly matched with the exact same 4 man.
Well that kinda confirms something for me too because you said they weren't exactly top notch but definitely above average. And being a 4 man swf just obfuscates MMR altogether because most people in that party are going to climb... statistically speaking
-
I don't think it's physically possible to treat every killer you haven't played as a brand new killer with zero MMR. That would lead to utter destruction and chaos for new players. More likely that they instead average your MMR rating for a killer you haven't played yet, then increase or decrease from there. So even when playing a killer you haven't played, if you're already in high killer MMR games, your average MMR will be slightly higher than the true average for this game. So the match will still be somewhat engaging and not completely one sided where you stomp newbies for hours on end.
-
Gen speeds are definitely a problem, but for as long as Huntress and Nurse remain very strong killers the gen speeds will not get changed I'm sure...
Guess we'll just have to buff every other killer in the game
-
I generally never use my good BP offerings when playing survivor. I'll use the rare ones that give 100% in objective... but since you never know what killer you're facing it's often better to avoid using them.
Save them for when you play with your friends or just survivor groups in general. They will be way more effective I'm sure.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if some killers are forcefully gatekeeping themselves at low ranks to get new-ish players and camp them. So maybe wait until you get higher in the ranks too.
-
I get the feeling that rank, while kind of meaningless now, plays a role in your MMR and what survivor kits you run into in the later ranks. Seems to hold true. My rank never goes down, because of the grade changes, and the survivors I run into are all using the same kits. Either that or there are other hidden effects at play for sure.
I'll say that ever since I hit high-ish MMR I have seen the same builds over and over with so little variance that it isn't funny. Doesn't matter if I get 4 games in a row where all 4 survivors leave. Nothing changes. So the only thing I can imagine is the grade system still plays a role in our MMR.
-
Killer would always win because there's no other objective

There's an immunity called looking down mate.
Thanks guys for the help but this is more of a change to put killers back into the aggressor category, and be less of a play thing for survivors

Let's say it this way: I don't agree with everything there, but I would rather take all of it than nothing from it.
I wouldn't take most of them, so no. I'd rather have none of it. Should be concerned about fixing problems with high MMR games before killers quit playing. MMR was the right idea but now they need to obviously rebalance the game fundamentally. This requires more than just a few killer changes and survivors losing healing stacks
-
Not much reason to play many killers over Huntress right now.. at least not at high MMR
-
Some of the changes are pretty questionable...
-
I would give Trickster the patience superpower. No more wasted main events... patience is key. Let me choose when I need to use it... not arbitrarily waste it almost every single time.

If Coconut with his 10k hours played as Huntress then its busted.
But hey boons are needed.
The thing is he recovered because he was playing Huntress, too... any other killer would not be the same story imo
-
Yeah unfortunately if you watched that video to the end he basically says it without saying it was all a joke. A patch in his wildest dreams that he would like to see.
T3 Mikey having permanent killer instinct is pretty strong though... not only did I not like that, but some of the survivor changes weren't really big hits for high MMR games... I think he nerfed self-healing and CoH but nothing major
-
I noticed recently after the last few patches that I started getting more killer rituals. It doesn't help that all the survivor ones are so specific too

Trust me, if hexes didn't light until active, you would see a lot of Killers running Devour.
Anyway, anything that makes Ruin used less and other hexes more is good IMO. Variety is the spice, and all that.
Also I haven't ran Ruin in ages, always seems to go quick for me. Much prefer Blood Favour atm.
Sure... I mean if you don't care about balance in the game, just let survivors gen rush you until you're matched with new players
-
One thing I will never agree with is consecutive blinds. One blind and that's it. Killer should have immunity afterwards for ~2-3s

Yeah but:
- DH could not trigger until you hook 3 people (unless the speed kicks in earlier?)
- Crowd Control until someone fast vaults
- Third Seal until you whack someone
- Blood Favor until you whack someone
Sure there's more, thats just of the top of my head, but Ruin is not the main hex that would benefit from this.
Ruin is the main hex most killers have to use right now
-
Most people nowadays immediately check for Ruin anyway

You can't nerf those perks without also dealing with the strategies that these perks are made to counter. If ds is made useless tunneling gets out of control and overpowered
You have how many other perks in the game to stop tunneling... or even just waste their time. Decisive strike is a one-off ability that guarantees you escape and waste even more of the killers time. And that's just if one survivor has it, and that's also just one perk. So the problem remains that stacking time saving perks is bad for the killer and 4 survivors stacking time saves means no progress for killers.
You can't have it both ways and MMR shows this to be true. Either the problem will be fixed or the game won't have any killers left...
-
Yeah... that's clickbait for you. Some of the changes were pretty OP too. Tier 3 Myers having permanent killer instincts... yeah, not a dead giveaway or anything

You mention time saves though, DH used correctly can literally double a chase and be a MASSIVE time waste for the Killer. Also on slugging, anti-slugging is fine IMO, as you can mitigate that by not getting too greedy and leaving downs. Usually I'm only forced to slug because the chase got out of hand, and then went on even longer, and I now have to pressure gens and don't even have time to hook. When you multiply this by 4 survivors, I definitely think it is problematic
Anti-slugging is only fine when one person can do it. Same with borrowed time and decisive strike. You nerf these and I can almost guarantee that dead hard will not be a problem for most killers
-

No, it's DH that ties the whole mess together. It's a zero risk, massive reward 'I-Win' button frequently that amounts to a near permanent third health state. And that's before you factor in the fake hits.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2663227#Comment_2663227
*Rubs temples*.
Okay, explain this to me.
How is the 'fake hit' bug okay?
I'm just gonna say that even as a new killer to the game, when I didn't know much about dead hard, I was only surprised by it once or twice. Then as I ran into more survivors using dead hard I already knew how to play around it. Thus the effectiveness of dead hard went way down. The issue at higher MMR is stacking time saves, preventing slugging, and even preventing hooks that all add up to losses for the killer during the match. They should definitely be toned down.
-
Yeah DH by itself you can play around as a killer. Even 4 survivors with dead hard is not too strong. It's the combination of the strongest perks in the game, which 4 survivors can stack without any limits. That's the problem in high MMR.
-
Even Dead hard promotes holding W...

Is there anywhere that I could read these rules and see for myself?

Well, they can't solve the issue with balance, which makes MMR the issue. MMR isn't fit for an asymmetrical game. It's just not fun.
MMR is fine in this game, really... the point of the subject is that MMR exposes the undeniably worst part of this game, which is a mixture of SWF comms and gen rushing. Even 4 solo players can gen rush, but SWF comms can take that to another level entirely. These things can be fixed with some balance changes, and maybe even fundamental changes.
Removing MMR won't fix the glaring problems...
-
@Lordofweed said:
It depends on your own rank.
In my opinion its like that:
In low ranks Killers are OP and absolutely the power role.
In Mid MMR the game is pretty balanced.
In High mmr the game os heavily Survivor Sided (Swf is broken op).
In fact Swf is so op in High mmr, that Survivors get handicapped in tournaments, so the Killers have at least a very small chance for get like 3-4 hooks (or 1 kill). They have rules like: Survivors may not repair a gen if they're injured.
So this on its own should provide something to think about the balancing.
I'm sure there's more rules than that, because if the other 3 survivors just wanted to rush gens they will get them done very easily while the first chase is ongoing. Then again I'm also sure that the list of "tournament viable" killers can be counted on one hand...
-
I don't think the old system will make the gen rush meta any better tbh... it's almost like everyone started gen rushing immediately after Behavior said escaping is the way to win the game. I think by now most people realize that they don't need to interact with the killer at all to win, and that's a problem with the game itself.
So it would need some balance changes that directly impact gen rushing -- but NOT by adding more gen crush perks to the game. Some perks obviouly need to be team-dependent, and possibly even items. So no more cookie cutter, copy/paste meta builds across the team, and no more toolbox/flashlight/medkit stacking.

I've been waiting for a sale like that because I bought Quentin and Freddy instead of buying the chapter because I was new at the time and I'd rather not spend $7 on a outfit for Quentin.
Well yeah this is basically an outfit sale and maybe if someone else was waiting to finish off a chapter they could buy that 1 character they're missing... but overall not a chapter sale, which made me sad
-
The only thing I don't like is that it's a discount on the characters, not the chapters... if it was a chapter with only 1 killer and 1 survivor then its the same as buying the chapter...

I don’t think it has anything to do with equipping it. They just changed the formula that you’re more likely to get repeat perks in lower level blood webs.
Well like I said I had a lot of good reactions to perks that I equipped showing up in the next bloodweb. Otherwise if all of my equipped perks are already t3 it will give me any old perk I dont have
And it's not like you have to play a game with it or anything.. you just equip your t2 perk, level up one time and it might show up

Thank you for all the tips. I have no issues with any other online gaming or streaming, it's just this. I don't get it. Oh well, I really do appreciate the advice and I'm going to get to the bottom of this because I think next ban is either a week or two weeks and I just can't go that long.
If nothing works feel free to update this. You could probably even put in a support ticket (with Behavior) if you know it's not a virus problem or even a problem with your internet.
One other thing I can say to try is restarting your modem if you know where it is. So unplugging the power cord and cables, count to 30 and plug it all back in.
Your ISP will probably want you to do that anyway. So try that before calling them.
-
Consistently disconnecting every week up to 3-4 times is not a hacker problem. Unless you're going places on the internet where you dont need to be.
You could download something like malwarebytes and run a malware scan for malware and do an antivirus scan with normal antivirus scanner. Run it a few times at that because it may not always pick up everything the first time.
After a week or so of doing scans with no malware or viruses you should know that it's a problem specifically with your internet. You may have the best setup for your area but it may not be sufficient enough for online games. Especially since you said this is a consistent problem.
If you have issues with buffering videos on YouTube, watching Twitch, or your browser cant find websites then those all relate to specifically internet usage. There are a plethora of reasons why your internet may not be 100% functional.
Call your ISP and tell them what you use your internet for and that you're having issues using their internet. They will be able to tell you way more than us about problems with your internet.

I have a few main issues with the grind.
A. I work 10+ hours a day so I don't have much time to play DbD these days. Thankfully during lockdowns I was able to play a lot and got lucky on the shrine and have most perks on survivor side. Killer side is a different story. I have a decent collection but as I haven't purchased many killers until recently, I'm lacking some critical perks.
B. I would LOVE to play on PC however I picked up DbD heavily when I got my PS5 because it was free. With that being said unless cross-progression becomes a thing I couldn't possibly put in the time it'll require to start from 0 and reach half of where I am today.
C. The sheer randomness of the bloodweb. I got my bubba to level 50 and went through his bloodwebs a few times at 50 and I still didn't get BBQ tier 3. I may have not went through the bloodweb as optimal as I could have though but still.
I do my Tome's, I do my best to get all my dailies done and I go through the bloodweb as optimal as possible. What's everyone's way of getting bloodpoints the quickest? Should I possibly be using certain perks that boost BP bonuses for the time being?
You probably already tried this already but make sure to equip BBQ and level up your blood web while it is equipped. I found that this increases the chance that your lower tier skills that you want to level up will show up in the next web. Not 100% guarantee I don't think but a much better chance in my experience
-
You cant tell me there aren't a certain number of people who simply agree with anything and everything that Otz says just so they're not confrontational or show different opinions... a lot of streamers like to see their own opinions justified and will visibly get upset otherwise.
So theres no way that any poll a streamer provides is 100% accurate... or anywhere close to reliable

As the title says, if your main (killer or survivor) was removed, which one would you end up maining instead?
Killer: I currently main Pig/Freddy, if they were removed I'd probably play more Demo or Trickster.
Survivor: I main Quentin and if he were to be removed I'd main Leon or Jeff.
Even without the buffs to Trapper I would probably play him more, but I like all of the killers so I wouldnt have a main. Just ones that I play too much and switch off of 😂
For instance I was on a ghostface kick for a while. Haven't played him recently but I still love the character design. Played some Pig, Doctor, Demopup, etc and they're all really fun in their own way
I'll most likely never copy/paste meta perks on my killers either because that would easily get boring, too
-
"He probably has noed"
Or "its end game, hes probably checking the exit gates, I can definitely unhook this guy"
-
Depending on what MMR you have, what time you're playing, etc... may not be anyone else at that MMR to match you with. Plus I guess maybe it also depends on what platform you're playing on and if you have crossplay enabled. May even depend on your region, if region locks are a thing here
-
I think Behavior had the right idea with MMR but they basically bottomed out by telling everyone how it will work. Not just that but it's such a rudimentary design... wins only count for exit gates and sacrifices? Theres way more that goes on in the game than just leaving or dying.

Weird... sounds like a latency thing tbh
-
I remember hearing about an issue where Ghostface hitbox is smaller when cloaked and crouched before breaking a pallet. Like it doesn't update the hitbox properly and you cant see it over the pallet or something. That's probably why. Wont be surprised if more people start abusing it now that it's out there...

i love ghostface, i main him, but his revealing is bs on both sides and has been for a while. yesterday i was revealed from behind the shack.
I mean if you can see them that usually means they can see you too... and even during chase you can be revealed. Revealing is only good for hiding your red stain in the chase when it's a high wall loop. Otherwise you're better off stalking from far away if possible to minimize your chances of being revealed
-
Well I'm no therapist but the way I learned is by better processing your emotions with questions. Like when you know you're getting angry but youre not angry at the game or something you did... so you ask yourself why? Am I angry because of this person? Will that matter later in life? Does this affect my physical health?
If you can catch yourself getting angry then you have just enough time to process it. Otherwise you're better off venting your stress or destressing in general. Watching a movie, exercising, stress balls... that kinda stuff. Above all else do your best not to entice negativity with more negativity. In other words dont feed the trolls.

People know that racism is wrong, don't try and justify it with the whole "well what if they were never told it was wrong!!".
Fear of consequence has a lot to do with racism... it means someone has never scolded them for their actions, or prevented them from doing certain things while in a terrible, distraught frame of mind.
I can tell you 100% that you will not solve racism by removing store items from the game. That's the worst band-aid I've ever heard of.

What I'm saying is that I don't think people need to be told that bullying, harassment, racism etc. is wrong.
Treating other people how you yourself want to be treated is a pretty easy concept to understand, most people (I hope) grasp from a young age.
It's entirely possible that some people grow up without the fear of consequence
