Thank you for at least being a voice of reason...

At least killers can't accuse me of holding M1 anymore, I'm not holding M1 🤔
So the toggle meta begins

@Mandy said:
So because you can't "stop" something means you should allow it to continue and continue to provide the tools for people to carry out this abhorrent behaviour? I really don't think so.
Aren't there tools in place to prevent this type of behavior from reoccurring?
-
Unfortunately toxicity is allowed here as well, which was a good point to make. I wish there was more to be done for tunneling/camping, too. I feel like that would require some serious changes though
-
You can stop racism... but removing in game content is not the answer. Giving players due diligence in a timely manner and reinforcing the rules would be the way to do that.

A non-answer is fundamentally incapable of being an answer. Otherwise, it wouldn't be called a non-answer; it'd just be called an answer. :P
An answer is an acceptable response to a question that the person is most likely expecting or wishes to hear... a non-answer is an unacceptable answer, i.e an answer that the person will not accept. I answered your question.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731535#Comment_2731535
I already said that the response in question is a non-answer, did I not?
Which in turn is still an answer, even if it's unacceptable to you. I thought we went through that part already
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731519#Comment_2731519
Because I don't recognize what you said in response to my question as an answer to my question. That does not mean I am incapable of recognizing any answer that I do not accept as an answer nonetheless. :P
So now we're back to my earlier statement, then. You could not recognize my answer. What a roundabout way of getting to that result, which could have been resolved long ago now
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731497#Comment_2731497
The post you are responding to also does not mention anything about a false answer.
Then we're back where we started. If you can recognize an answer without accepting it, why would we still be here
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731474#Comment_2731474
I only said that the notion that I cannot recognize an answer because I cannot accept it is false. :P
I don't think I mentioned anything about a false answer, but it was a nice try
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731469#Comment_2731469
That is incorrect. Unless, of course, you are willing to point out how. ;)
Ok so you do recognize my answer then.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731463#Comment_2731463
And what, may I ask, is the root of the problem?
You fail to recognize an answer because you could not accept it.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731455#Comment_2731455
Where in the above post did I suggest that? :P
Ah so we reach the root of the problem.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731442#Comment_2731442
A non-answer is a response that does not answer the question. For example: "What is two plus two?" "Don't you have better things to do?"
So then you recognize that I answered your question with a response of my own. Good.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731421#Comment_2731421
A refusal to answer my question is fundamentally a non-answer. It is a response from you, but it is a non-answer. :P
If only you knew what a non-answer was...
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731397#Comment_2731397
That's not an answer to my question; if anything, that is an explicit declaration that you refuse to answer my question.
It's not the answer you expected, but it is still an answer
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731350#Comment_2731350
I mean, that's incorrect, but similar as to how you're not obligated to answer my question, you're also allowed to state an incorrect claim.
You are correct that I'm not obligated to answer questions, but I ultimately did respond to you with my answer to your question. My answer to you was that I'm not in any way, shape or form interested in talking semantics where it is least relevant in this conversation. A conversation that you are not entitled to shape to your own benefit. Yet you persist and remain duly self-appointed to your own obligations here...
-
@TAG said:

Okay, so we're on the same page on that fact. Great. That doesn't change the fact that you have yet to answer my question, though. :P
The great part of all this is that I already did
-
@TAG said:

Yes, because those parts were not the reason I responded.

You are not entitled to answer my question? I mean...okay. I'm not sure how that constitutes entitlement, but okay.
One thing I can say is that I'm glad people can't just cut and paste sentences out of context for no other purpose than to feel as if they really accomplished something. You could clearly see my response there, and yet you still managed to avoid the relevant parts...
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731296#Comment_2731296
I mean, I already told you that you are not obligated to answer the question, so I'm not sure how that could equate to entitlement.
I did answer the question, however. I am not entitled to answer your question in a specific manner that you deem appropriate
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731283#Comment_2731283
I'm afraid you did not answer it for the reasons I already outlined. Of course, you are welcome to deliver an answer to the question to allow the discussion to continue.
I realize you feel some sort of entitlement to a specific answer, but that is self-inflicted and a severe lapse of judgement. I told you this already
-
@TAG said:

I'm talking about a specific on-topic comment you made in this thread. So I'm on-topic.
You're not and I'm afraid you won't get any farther with this conversation. I'll gladly keep you company if that's what it means for you to eventually leave this thread.

@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731157#Comment_2731157
Indeed. So, going back on topic:
Did the removal of people of color from this game already happen: yes or no?
I dont think removing a mask will eradicate racism. Probably wont even touch it. If there really are racist bigots who serve no purpose other than to harass streamers for the color of their skin, deleting in game content will not fix that. We're talking scum of the Earth type of people.
By doing so, and taking the easy way out here, they've essentially told anyone with a racial motif that hey -- if you're racist in our video game, we'll delete content we've created just to stop you. The same goes for anyone who advocates removing content for that reason.
The original purpose of that content was to support the lore of the killer and give people cosmetics to play with... the fact that I have to spell that out for anyone is depressing.
What's even more depressing though is that this game is just another breeding ground for toxic players, where they are even willfully accepted. Some known forum users openly talking about being toxic players to other people. That is our community. Not the racists.
This is the subject we're supposed to be talking about
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731131#Comment_2731131
I never said that my expectations had to be met. But the expectations I am setting for myself are that the question is answered, which is something that has not happened.
And that is unfortunate... perhaps now we can talk about the subject at hand
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731123#Comment_2731123
Yes, I am expecting the only answers that fundamentally answer the question. You are not obligated to provide that answer if you do not wish to, of course. But that doesn't mean that any other response you give actually answers the question.
Theres no single answer for any question... your expectations do not have to be met by anyone
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731115#Comment_2731115
I don't have to dictate any answers. A factual yes/no question by default can only be answered with yes or no, assuming that the answer is indeed known.
You dictated to me what answers you were expecting.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731106#Comment_2731106
It does not actually answer my question. It is a quote to my post, but it is not an answer to my question. An answer to my question is either "Yes" or "No."
You simply cannot dictate the answers. You gave a question, and I answered it to the best of my ability. You simply will not win on semantics alone
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731042#Comment_2731042
Yes, which does not answer my question. So which one does?
It did answer your question... it may not be the answer you want, but it is an answer to your question
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731020#Comment_2731020
I don't know which post is meant to be the answer because from my point of view, none of them directly answer my question. Hence why I am asking you to quote it.
That's when I told you that you weren't going to win a war of words...
Does that ring a bell?
-
@TAG said:

You were talking about the removal of people of color from the game. That is what I am intentionally zeroing in on. Did that or did that not happen?
You're not going to win a war of words my friend... better go somewhere else for that
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2730988#Comment_2730988
You said that the scenario you described actually happened. Are we removing people of color from this game now?
Yes the one we are currently talking about... the removal of in game content in favor of exonerating racism from the game. I can only assume we've done that or we wouldn't be talking about it.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2730978#Comment_2730978

We removed in game content in favor of curbing racism?
Did we just forget that or

@TAG said:

The one you just described.
The one I described that is an exact scenario as the one we are currently discussing...? The one that actually happened?
Let me ask you something... do you think removing a mask will prevent racism?
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2730947#Comment_2730947
No slippery slope fallacies, please. :P
It's already a slippery slope, or we wouldn't be here... talking about a literal in game mask that ties in with killer lore being used and abused by certain people, targeting certain players, and likely being openly racist while doing so.
Tell me what slippery slope have I gone down that we havent already seen

in order to ban someone for a racist comment one must first receive the racist comment. in order to ban someone for racially-targeted abuse of any kind, including harassment using the cosmetic, one must receive lots of the same racially-targeted abuse towards themselves from that person. therefore, by removing one of the tools used for the ratially-targeted harassment it causes less people to receive as much racially-targeted harassment, which is a plus.
If they were being racist and being reported then they should have already been banned. And if they make new accounts then those accounts will be reported and banned as well.
You're right, removing the problem item is one solution. That's a pretty easy choice to make and an easy mistake to make too. What else can be considered racist now? Sexist? Homophobic? Transphobic?
Do we continue this cycle of removing content from the game? Do we remove people of color from the game so that they aren't targeted for playing people of color?
Where do the easy choices stop?

show me where they said not to report people for toxic comments, even just today the mods have said they have banned people in the past for hateful speech. You can care about toxicity and want it to be over, sweet and most feel the same, but when something that was used for it is now gone, the play isn't to say "well survivors can still crouch" Ok? both sides have bm they can do, it isn't the same as something used for racism
@Mandy said:
First of all nobody would be banned for Camping - that's not something that's even reportable, let alone something to ban for.
Chat insults - yes these are bannable but of course it depends on the level of insults, slurs, racism, homophobic comments etc will result in a temp ban, death threats can be permanently bannable. But we do allow a certain amount of "smack talk" - someone saying "you're ######### useless" in the game for example is not going to result in a ban.
And as for the other part of the question - please refer to the forum rules here, we do not discuss bans on the forum, so we would not appreciate people saying what they were banned for etc.
I think this is it here. Toxicity comes in all forms, not just hate speech against certain groups of people. Yet we are openly allowing everyone to trash talk each other like it's going to help resolve such a tremendous problem with this game.
But do take notice that even they said they already ban players for racist comments. Meaning if those players were being reported for racism they should already be banned. Not sure why this should include removing in-game content or why it's even merited, when there are other more pressing concerns with the game.

Except killer can also be toxic, stop with the Us vs Them mindset, it isn't even an argument discussion lmao you are just hating survivor players because something used in a racist way is gone lmaoo mad cope
No... I dont even care about the removal of the masks. I don't even have Bubba but I wish I did because I want to get BBQ&C.
I care about problems with the game. Like toxicity, which is still a bigger problem than a mask that could possibly be racist depending on how certain people portray themselves.
A growing problem with the game that Behavior even supports... they've made comments saying dont report people for toxic comments. That is a fundamental issue. Racism is just not in the same scale or even close.
-
@Lochnload_exe said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2730609#Comment_2730609
It literally is though, you can't determine if crouching in a game is toxic, you can definitely determine when someone is acting racist and saying racist remarks lmao
You're right you cant know for sure. Almost like until someone speaks up and says something you just never know what their intentions are... and yet here we are talking about very specific scenarios of racism.
When survivor toxicity is still a much bigger problem.
-

I dont think I need to say anything more than that. Hypocrisy is not your ally here

It does bring out a great point here that we can be civil and still discuss key points that need to be made about the game. A shame that I dont think any developers peruse, much less talk about or even post on these forums. Behavior and Mod posts are probably mostly considered community managers or just downright forum moderators and have no real stake in developer changes

One thing is someone crouching up and down, the other is equipping a blackface mask and spewing racist hate in and out of game, not similar in the slightest.
I think you mean one is targeting killers and the other is targeting survivors... even less of an issue when it's so specific that you have to say only targeting certain survivors of color. If you put both of them on a scale, the amount of toxicity that survivors have towards killers is insurmountably greater than the chance that your next killer is a bigoted racist.
-
I think SBMM is fine. SWFs need to be toned down though, if we're going to keep SBMM
-
It would be too much to have a bunch of superpowered killer perks that all accomplish the same thing. In that regard this is why Grim Embrace is the perk that it is.... it's meant to be sort of a mid to late game perk where not all the gens are done and you can take full advantage of the time given to you.
The reason it's so bad is due to gen rushing at higher MMR. Survivors aren't running around like headless chickens and go straight to the gens. Very rarely will you hook all survivors before the gens are done against a decent survivor team. The chances of pulling off a Grim Embrace proc are slim.
Grim Embrace cant be another Deadlock perk because that would change the whole purpose of it. Which is simply to win more. First you have to be winning the game..which is already challenging to do after you get to a certain point in your killer career.
If they focus on gen speeds and giving killers time to patrol the maps then Grim Embrace will shine on it's own.

Killers already have a 60%+ win rate against solos.
Ok then, enjoy a game with no killers 🤷♂️

Definitely Steve/Nancy players. Those are rare anymore
