Pretty straightforward. Most of have put hundreds of dollars in this game. That is not enough? Time limited cosmetics, which are usually in F2P games, are warranted here?

The halloween skins from last year in the event tome are available now in the store iirc. Seems like the timed skins are 1 year exclusive period before being available again.

So is there like...a legitimate reason why console players can't have anonymous mode?

Even if it was unintended, anonymous mode worked just fine on console when it was there...so why remove it? How come PC players get anonymity but I have to risk being harassed by another player after the game just because I didn't play perfectly to their standards, or because I got a kill? It just doesn't make sense to me why BHVR would basically encourage that especially knowing how toxic their playerbase can be...

Because they overrode features that the console platforms require to be present in their version of the game. You can't blame the developer for this given the requirements that need to be met for the game to be available on your platform store. PC stores don't have those sorts of requirements which is why PC players can use it.

Valorant's anticheat is not a good example, because it is very intrusive, basically as intrusive as a software can get. It only accepts to run if it is the very first thing that was loaded on your CPU, not just before Windows is even loaded, but even before your drivers, monitor. etc. There is barely any failsafe during this phase so if there is any bug in Vanguard software it will make your whole system instable, it is an extremely hardcore method of fighting cheats that comes with a lot of downsides (and likely this is the reason why Valorant isn't working on consoles).

With an anticheat like this, Vanguard dev team is probably spending more time debugging why countless innocent people have X or Y not working on their machine, rather than actually trying to detect cheaters. Of course Valorant can afford it because a large part of their marketing campaign is based on this anticheat, but I don't think other game studios are willing to make such sacrifices.

And I doubt even Vanguard anticheat is enough to fight motivated hackers like the PCIe device thing I mentioned.

I hate to play devils advocate but there are several things which make what you posted incorrect.

Vanguard is signed not only by Riot's certification team (which ensures it works properly without bugs), its also further certified with Microsoft's kernel certification process. All of these processes with Microsoft specifically scan for malware, bugs, hardware compatibility tests, and multiple extended validation tests.

Any quick google search will tell you what vanguard does, as well as the processes behind that.

Sounds like a better Dying Light. Which might get pretty miserable stacked with actual DL, because then you have a ton of slowdown each hook and there's no way for survivors to get rid of either of them. While this Thana still comes out to 20%, Thana stacks are (or were, before this weird nerf) easier to apply while also being easier to remove at any time. Think about it... you just hook each survivor once to get the baseline 16% going, in addition to 3 tokens of DL for permanent 25% slowdown. And that's just for hooking everyone once; hooking everyone twice is 16-20% slowdown for the obsession and 34-38% slowdown on anyone else.

    My thoughts exactly.

Played 20 games yesterday and today without a single Oni. They don't need to killswitch since no one plays him.

"I dont face oni so clearly no one plays him"

There are more people playing this game than just you.

  • Game servers i play on are too laggy for it to work as a parry, so sprint burst is my preferred perk.

  • I've been running more gen focused perks to get through it faster. Tbh you might as well be losing out on bp by not running prove thyself and it comes in clutch late game with fewer gens left.

My killer queues went back to being instant last night. (USA midwest region) I think a new Tome coming out often messes with the queues a bit, but everyone usually assumes it's the patch that caused the change. Things usually even back out before long.

I do think that in this case giving survivors a huge BP bonus and then ripping it away may have done some damage, but I have no proof of that.

My survivor queues all night were basically instant (Central US region), no change at all.

  • @bm33 said:

Survivors aren't throwing to inflate kill rates. That's like saying killers were throwing to inflate escape rates.

A tome just opened up, survivors have always put their challenge ahead of gens. This is felt more now because all the killer buffs make just one survivor not focusing on match hurt survivors more.

Survivors giving up when a killer is running a full slow down/regression build (especially on specific killers) or camping/tunneling just makes them feel like the match is a lost cause so just move on to the next as fast as possible. This was an issue before the patch, the patch buffed these so you see more camping/tunneling and slowdown/regression load outs which in turn has survivors giving up more often.

The DH change isn't the issue, even before the change all the survivors said they would just use SB or Overcome or some other exhaustion perk instead - which they have done. The only ones making a big deal about DH are the killer mains that were so obsessed with it BEFORE the patch that they ignore the multiple buffs killers actually got just focus on thinking it's DH when the things making survivors give up have nothing to do with DH.

Survivors complained alot about Legion with slowdowns BEFORE the patch. This buffed and made more miserable by increasing gen times and buffing slowdown/regression perks.

Survivors complained about killers camping/tunneling BEFORE the patch. Not only was it buffed thanks to increase gen times that total are 50 seconds (almost a full hook state) while hook times stayed the same but the only buff survivors got that could've helped, basekit BT, doesn't actually last long enough to get a survivor out of the basement or to a loop - especially since they buffed the killers cooldown after successful hit and nerfed the distance survivors get after a hit.

There has been an increase in Prove Thy Self because survivors ARE trying to get gens done. I've seen multiple people already bring up seeing it more often, even some killers already calling for it to be nerfed. I've seen a noticeable difference in my matches when no one is running Prove Thy Self and when one player runs it to the point I've added it to my load out. While it doesn't guarantee 5 gens will be completed I've had more matches where 3+ gens are completed now that I've started running it because it's the only thing to counter the increased gen times and gen slowdowns/regressions.

    Pretty much my thoughts.

Ive added prove thyself to my build mainly for the bloodpoints but also I’ve noticed that gens get done when I bring it.

Ultimately I’ve just been stuck on gen speed perks like overzealous and prove thyself with a stacked toolbox to make the games feel fun. That’s all the changes have made it much more preferable to just hammer gens as quickly as possible,

  • People pretending like that’s the only change puzzle me.

You now hit faster and the survivor makes less distance. You have an additional 50 seconds of generator time. You have all these additional benefits while tools survivors use have been nerfed. It may be a skill issue but overall you are being handed an easier time by the game, not survivors relying on a single perk. Can’t wait until the next complaints about how broken sprint burst is.

Twitch shirts are difficult to reconcile with a no-exclusives philosophy. They even added new ones after that declaration, so who knows. Perhaps they will "try" not to produce too many exclusive cosmetics, but sometimes they must. Amazon Prime items have sometimes been forever exclusives in games, and some offer early access to items or recycle old content.

Twitch shirts arent really an exclusive thing. They have set requirements that if met allow them to give them out. Exclusive items would be completely unobtainable which those arent.

  • @Laluzi said:

...while I was happy to give feedback about the event, the Garden of Joy, etc, there was something I saw in there that I cannot possibly express all of my Nope about.

Limited-time licensed cosmetics. As in, say, a Pyramid Head outfit goes in the store for a few weeks and then leaves forever.

I thought we were moving away from true exclusives? Why would we want more permanently retired cosmetics? Especially store ones? Especially on licensed characters, who have the fewest cosmetic options in the game and the most fans that would like to own them? It's rare enough that BHVR gets to negotiate for licensed cosmetics; gating them to new players or people who weren't active on DBD during the window is an awful idea and a waste of a long-term opportunity for the sake of a quick cash grab.

They also suggested a referral system and incentives for getting your friends to join the game, which has me half giggling and half harkening back to Neopets, but seriously, who in the dev team actually wants limited cosmetics to happen? And can we tell them to stop?

As a counterpoint, it could be that certain cosmetic concepts the devs want to try wouldn't be permitted by the license holder unless it was limited time item.

  • whats the view from post game results? Anyone have a picture of that?

  • Guess my hud is different, I dont have the effect (debuff) telling me when exactly it is ending it only tells me once the debuff is gone.

Agreed completely and these are things we will look into.

The way Valorant does it is pretty good. It doesn't say anything other than that action was taken based on a report you submitted. It 100% makes reporting feel more impactful compared to the system in place right now.

  • I really like the changes in maps being influenced by the addition of new characters. I hope they continue this with future updates.

  • If it was that easy, why hasn't it been done? Do all the sanity checks you want but it's still not this magic bullet.

Riot's Anti cheat was designed with the game from the ground up, and certain decisions were made when making the game that help make cheating harder. You can read the posts they have made regarding the implementation of a fog of war system and the issues they encountered doing so.

With VAC it scans only for cheats reported by the developer, and even then, still has issues with cheaters.

  • At least with Freddy you don't have to hold m1 every time he hits you with his power. The music is legitimately the only decent thing from the legion update.

  • Perk was nerfed twice with one of the most boring killers being buffed. I just went straight back to running DS, adrenaline, dead hard, bt

  • I think avoiding the characterization of all survivors under that envelope will be better to help understand you aren't facing the same people every match. Just like they don't face the same opponents every match. However, when I don't run BT I run the risk of ruining the game for my teammates if I cannot get a safe unhook or the killer is close in proximity seeking to get a second stage or death hook on the hooked player (which happens quite frequently).

Your questionable anecdotal evidence definitely proves all other players are wrong.

How many times in a row did you get matched with the same killer? By "harass" do you mean he tried to kill you in-game?

I’ve been matched with them more than enough to justify making a support ticket with evidence which is what I have done, and by “harass” I mean what they’ve done according to the rules qualifies as harassment/targeting rather than your snide comment. I’ve not had a survivor do this to me ever.

  • I haven’t had a survivor harass me because I escaped multiple matches in a row from them just saying

  • @Mooks said:

As others have kinda stated, the problem is the survivor meta perks being to strong and overshadowing any good/interesting new surv perks. Most of the new ones aren’t actually useless but you play at a disadvantage when not equipping Meta perks.

You play at a disadvantage because of the playstyle the killer chooses is directly countered by those meta perks

Who said its a penalty? You are also restricted to 2 addons, its the same thing there.

It's a penalty when there has always been the ability to pick your own loadout unencumbered by what anyone else has equipped. The addons thing isn't relevant.

  • It was a design choice that made it a healthier perk, it should include blessing speed imo.

  • Why should I be penalized for running decisive when I picked that perk before I even loaded into a lobby. Let alone why should I be penalized for a perk I unlocked on that character.

  • I guess it's boring with the same triple stacked slowdown build. Shame she got fixed, and she's one of the few killers I've actually maxed out on too.

NOED and Devour Hope yes. But perks like Startruck and Make Your Choice are resetting after killer gets you down. I am sure this was working like that.

Those perks with the timed duration of the effect while continue for the full effect even when you are hooked/downed before the effect runs out. It's always been like this.

  • The status effect continues even when you are hooked/downed.

  • No, I played on it earlier yesterday. You were just unlucky

if by healthy design is suppose make the perk worthless than yes it is healthy design. how exactly is the killer suppose get 4 stacks of thanotophobia if the perk does not keep people injured.

It's not meant to keep people injured, its aimed at making survivors take time to heal. Penalizing the survivors for performing the action which was encouraged by the perk isn't a good design choice for said perk.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2835665#Comment_2835665

yeah but now it is awful. If you hated the perk so much, you should equipped a healing perk to counter it. COH in modern day counters so hard. Their change basically killed the perk.

    It's healthier design

  • The very design of it encourages survivors to heal or face slower action speeds but at the same time punished survivors for healing by applying the slowdown to healing. It made no sense, and in order for them to buff the percentage it had to be fixed from the state it was in.

  • Just like how people said ruin undying promoted healthy gameplay but every game I was in with that perk combo had killers sweating their balls off and proxy camping and tunneling the unhooked survivor.

Thanks for this post as it made me laugh.

  • There's friction when dead hard is in use, especially given the reaction timing required in this game stuff that is down to the wire is something people will always have some level of annoyance with.

It probably does respawn. I only failed it the first time when a killer tried to shove his machete up my pooper mid-glyph (RUDE!) so I only had it happen once. So while incredibly unlucky, op might just have not found it again as there's nothing special you have to do to make it show up except get close enough for it to appear

it does respawn in a different area if you fail it.

You can tell if the Survivor is staring at his feet while he hides around walls.

I do that and i don’t use stretch resolution. If I angle my camera correctly I can still see out of the corner on loops.

  • You are only being matched against people on PS4 who also have turned crossplay off.

This is for both engravings. You are not penalized for running those addons by the overheat mechanic anymore.

any pc account can use the chat when in a lobby/postgame

If you add them as friends they will show up on your ingame friends list, but not the steam overlay one.

What makes a competition "real"? What made HSH : Survive not real competition? What made Last Year not real competition? What made F13 not real competition, it existed with content for a year and did not kill DBD. VHS seems to be the best one yet but there is already a lack of monster players and a lot of people complain monster is not very fun.

DBD is just generally better designed than all of them.

Also as much as people want to complain on forums/reddit/twitter, the game is not as "miserable" for a vast majority of the players.
