Well I just had a game that lasted 12 minutes, was enjoyable and quite close and ended in a 3k with the last guy escaping through the gates, then one of the other survivors was complaining that everyone but them was trash, the other survivors and the killer, because 'No game should ever last more than 7 minutes, it just shows that you're a pathetic and wasting my time'. They had the lowest score out of everyone too oddly enough.
So the reason that I'm making this discussion is to get a sense of the general consensus on whether a longer game is/can be more fun than a shorter game or if I'm in the minority on that.
i think a game should be at least 50% longer than the average queue time. waiting 10 minutes for a 5 minute game is unacceptable. 7 minutes on a 5 minute queue is ok to good.
-
Its an interesting thought. Some perks are not worth 25% of your perks but maybe 20% makes them more attractive

It's really disheartening to see all these commenters that would rather make our community smaller and more exclusive than bigger and more inclusive. Not everyone can afford to update their computer everytime a game decides to update.
Why stop at that then? I have an old pc without a graphics card running windows 95 in the attic, how dare they not include that.... that's the big trade off between consoles and pc. Consoles pretty much guarantee the hardware is going to work for the life of the console. Pc not so much.

By definition overpowered perks should be fixed. However the current climate over uses the term to almost irrelevance. Just because something is strong doesn't make it over powered.

A second chance perk that literally triggers every forty seconds. Who thought this was a good idea. My suggestion is to have it give you the broken status like no mither. What you all think ?
It's pretty easy to count on. Play accordingly. From a killer main. Yes is it troublesome when they use it to extend a chase, of course. But once you know its there its OK to play around.

if moris become better visually, more killers might bring them. And we cant have that. please.
i would rather the mori be more satisfactory while also reducing the effectiveness. i really only like mori for the "kill" i would be perfectly fine with it being a death hook thing. meaning it basically only save time on walking to a hook. i think on a motif level mori belongs but i can see how being killed after 1 hook is bad for the game on both sides. it reduces BP and ruins the game. if the mori let you kill someone when they are on death hook i think it would be a decent acceptable change.

trying to avoid SWF to communicate in this technological era is inevitable... so DBD should include whether distance-based (voice chat) or regular voice chat, both options to mute/unmute anyone and see how did pressing TAB, devs are just too lazy or incompetent
exactly this. there is no way to stop a well organized team from using it. it should be baseline in the game. i would love proximity chat but we shall see. however it needs to be implemented so they can finally balance around the SWF

BHVR will get a lot of crap from the killer community.
Voice comms is already a touchy subject, you'll just have to join in Voice Chats on your own.
That will be your responsibility.
they already get alot of crap. voice comms are a thing. not putting in the game puts solos at a disadvantage, and they cant balance around it. frankly its absurd they have put it off this long. my pie in the sky would be voice coms with proximity chat but really they need to add it and buff killers accordingly.
-
apparently hackers can target console players because out of my whole time playing i think i have only seen 3-4 "hackers" and they were the ping monsters, where they magically have 2000 ping when they get downed. i have never seen a speed boost hacker or a flying hacker.
-
This is the only "hack" I have seen more than once, however I'm still able to get the hook off like half the time
-
nope every queue has been less then 30 seconds. pc killer NA
-
my experience has been phenomenal queue times as a PC killer. however i played one match with 2 world symbols which i gather to mean consoles and one with all 4 being the world symbols. Frankly the world symboled survivors were terrible. their movements were stiff and slow and their game sense was terrible, with one missing a huge pallet drop, talking like 1 full second standing in the pallet and no drop. all survivors were a higher rank than myself. also weird lag spikes

This is brought up every other day.
Nobody wants to deal with having to listen to: toxic people, 12 year olds, angry people, mic spammers, memers, and griefers. If you want to use mics with friends, discord exists already. I for one wouldn't put up with having to listen to all of the idiot man-children that make up a large portion of this game's community.
This works on literally every other multi-player game. You can mute or opt out but not having an in game is the single reason why solo queue cannot begin to compete with swf

ok, I know that there is a Licensing issues but if that is the case then why can you go agings him?
Without actually seeing the agreement it is hard to say. However the license probably states something to the affect able to produce publish and sell on x y z platform. Since they aren't doing those three being able to play against him on a different platform doesn't really violate those terms.

@ExcelSword said:
I'll start this off by quickly addressing console killers. The latest patch has really poor framerate for you that drops below 30fps, so I understand if you opt out of crossplay, this post isn't for you.
But for you survivors, please give crossplay a chance. you are NOT at a huge disadvantage going against PC killers.
With a controller and relatively stable framerate, you have near the same skill floors and ceilings as PC survivors. I play survivor on PC with a controller and can handle it just fine, and I was an Xbox/PS4 player for two years before moving on to PC. All the mindgames you can learn are still there, M/KB doesnt give an innate advatage to PC survivors.
Yes, you will see more killers like Nurse or Huntress, and no you wont't be getting away with as many 360 spins as you used to. But that doesn't mean you are disadvantaged, You aren't trying to throw a hatchet at the Huntress before she does the same to you, the killer using a M/KB doesn't affect your ability to loop or your game sense.
I know most of you are good players, since I was there with you. Crossplay is great for this games activity and playerbase, quick matches and more variety of killers. Please, don't be turned off by 5k hour Nurse horror stories. We PC survivors have to deal with them as well, and we keep playing this game. Calling for blocks with PC will hinder all the effort crossplay is trying to achieve in the first place.
I think you nailed it with the 360 spins being much less effective. Most of these survivors are not going to like losing that crutch, and will likely avoid cross play with a PC if possible
-
I would be pretty happy. Its one of, if not the most successful asymmetrical pvp games ever. It has remained competitive with juggernauts like overwatch, who is already winding down for overwatch 2. It remained relevant in the era of the battle Royale one of laziest but most prolific games on the market. Negotiations to get multiple high level license like Freddy and Myers in the same game is almost unheard of.

SWF is hands down the most unbalanced. the amount of information that comms gives a survivor team is unrivaled. they need to embrace comms and put them in the game because there is no way to balance some ppl having comms and some not. everything else boils down to some salty crying in my opinion.

As the title states, would you like/want any of the classic monsters to join and if so which one? I'd personally love Gillman to be added and, more specifically, his look to be much more like the Monster Squad's Gillman then the classic one. There was always something so cool and badass about that version to me.
I also wanted to say if this discussion is in the wrong place, I'm sorry, feel free to move it to its proper place.
i would love classic monsters but this community is dead set on only having "slashers" from the 70s-90s. this well is pretty much dried up outside of pinhead jason and chucky. but this game is working on 5 years as an online game only its time to think about DBD2

@MonsterInMyMind said:
As others have stated people would dodge also in no way are the developers ever going to find a sweet spots for SWF's its not possible you can't balance around comms they will always have some sort of advantage with that being said people give swf's to much praise not all of them are even that good sure there's like a 1% team that is insanely good but ive only faced one since the mmr came out and i still killed two. People just find something to blame a loss on instead of paying attention to what they likely did wrong its seriously over hyped a lot.
I think a good start at trying to balance swf is to take away a perk slot. Coms give the swf many advantages taking away one slot to compensate for all the information they get would be a step in the right direction

They should just make the yellow one public.

Clowns strength is in his chase ability. Unfortunately you have to rely more on your teammates against him

NOED ain't even that good of a perk. Usually only averages you one extra hook at the end of the game which is nothing. Your better off with rancor honestly xD
totally this which is why most survivors don't bother with totems. despite all the gnashing of teeth noed still isnt enough for people to do bones. this guy does 4/5 and still cant get one teammate to help. it just shows the Noed is not that big of a problem.

@Onyx_Blue said:
Instead of this baffling and ridiculous MMR system, that's completely out of place in a game like DBD, wouldn't it make more sense, in a game where 'ranks no longer matter', that you base matchmaking on play-time. Being paired with people in certain brackets of hours played. So, for example:
0 - 50 hours
51 - 250 hours
251 - 750 hours
751 - 1k hours
1k - 2k hours
2k - 3k hours
etc...
And if there are no (or not many) players in your bracket, it searches one bracket high and lower than yours to pair you with a bracket that would be more suitable. I mean, that seems wayyyy simpler than this MMR that will take way too much time to find out if it even works.
Time played is not necessarily an indicator of skill imagine being bad but enjoying the game and eventually you keep getting paired with stronger and stronger opponents. I have a phenomenal amount of time on another game but gold is where I belong it would not make sense for me to graduate for time played. Should time played be a factor probably but not the only metric

ooh someone is salty gonna start name calling? later entitled one.

@Xbob42 said:
These "you ATTEMPTED to do bones" replies. Good lord. Can we address the fact that if I see someone running around wasting 80% of the match looking for bones I write them off as basically useless? The issue with one person attempting to do all the bones (especially dull ones) is that it's an extremely poor use of time. You're basically down to 3 people at that point, dramatically reducing your chances of winning in a solo queue.
So basically the counter to NoED in solo queue is "throw the game really badly."
It's even more ridiculous than I could have possibly imagined. Y'all are out of your minds.
Don't even get me started on "hop on Discord within the 60 seconds it takes to start a match with these randos who on most platforms you can't even tell to get on Discord" just... stop. Seriously. Stop.
the literal point of noed is to make it more enticing for teams to do bones instead of just rushing gens. you want better teams look around for people in the discord and group up. the amount of people who want the game handed to them on silver platter is staggering.
-
@RoMainPuppy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1523660#Comment_1523660
So you expect. A person in solo q. To hop on discord. Tell their 3 randoms to hop on discord. Hope they HAVE discord installed. Hope everyone has a working mic. Hope everyone has headphones. Hope they actually listen and hop into discord. All in 60 secs before the match starts. Sure bud. I'm sure that'll work out great every game. Why don't you try it and get back to me about how well that works out?
then they are choosing to play the game the least optimally. communication in a team game is very important.
-
@RoMainPuppy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1523293#Comment_1523293
Not the issue is:
1) Guy found and cleansed four bones
2) Nobody else did any bones
3) Guy was found, one hit down, first hooked, and died
4) Guy came here JUSTIFIABLY complaining because solo q is hell and there is no way to tell if anyone else on your team is also doing bones. They got ######### by NOED when they and no one else was doing the counter.
So no, if you read the post, no they don't think they should survive every game or have a radar or immortality. They LEAST they would like is some way for Solo players to know if anyone else is also doing bones. Maybe you should learn to read.
Omg solo queue in a team game is hard.... its like thats how solo queue for any team game is going to be. The guys team didn't help him with an objective seems to be working as intended. Like a killer who complains all 4 survivors escape after having them all on death hook. They didn't do the objective simple story. They do have a way to know if bones are being done its called voice communication, there is even a whole discord dedicated to it. If you choose not to use voice comes that's a you issue.

Blame the team for what? There are no way of sharing info with other team mates. There are lot of situations like "3 on gen", HEX RUIN, and all three start searching the totem, because you have no chance to say "dude, I have small game, keep killer busy I ll do my job".
And same in case of noed. You did 4 totems in Lery's or Gideon, you meet you team and you cannot share "all around the walls are cleared, check the center rooms".
The mechanic of selection from remainings is stupid. You cleanse 80% of totems on hard map (Like Lery's, where the totem locaions are hell). You should have 20% chance of NOED and not 100%.
You could have communicated that you had small game in pre match chat. Also they host a discord channel you all can organize yourself into one before the match starts
-
@PigMainClaudette said:
This is just a reminder that yes, there are indeed survivors who do bones in order to try and counter NoED. These players also generally don't gen-rush.
When these players come here and say that NoED is indeed a terrible perk and needs changing, they're right. They do not need to "git gud", they do not need to hear "Just do bones." and they do NOT need to hear a garbage spiel about how easy the perk is to counter, the killer is "oNlY pLaYiNg WiTh 3 PeRkS!" or the points of DS/BT/DH/UB being perks and can be stacked.
To now make the "Do bones" argument null and void, I will now highlight every way that this argument is totally invalid:
- Survivor perks, such as Decisive Strike and Unbreakable are used with the hope that they are NEVER ACTIVATED. Well, for a lot of their users anyway. People can claim this as being perks down, much like the arguments for NoED.
- The so-called Survivor equivelant, Adrenaline, is only a small and temporary boost while NoED is permanent if activated. Yes, the health state is temporary, but there are several killers that have base-kit instant downs so this really shouldn't be THAT big of an issue.
- NoED does not discriminate between those who have done totems and those who do not. This leads to several cases like mine where I am commonly doing 3-4 dull totems MYSELF and getting killed after only one hit and hook. I am being punished for others failing, not my own failure. I know that Survivor is technically a team game, but there is a point where the individual should not be punished for the failures of the team.
- It creates bad habits. Rather than actually adapting to applying pressure through various means, or learning how to improve in chases, NoED is used as a safety net in order to get kills that one would not normally be able to achieve, making them think that they are more skilled than they actually are. Rather than getting better at their role, they are telling others to do way more work because they refuse to adapt.
- Counters to a majority of Survivor perks are merely a change in mindset or playstyle, such as trading hooks to apply pressure and avoid Decisive Strike AND Borrowed Time. NoED requires survivors to go out of their way in order to stop one of your perks.
- The "counters" are also indirect and limited, also chewing up valuable perk slots for other perks to counter some of the more unsavoury tactics that killers use and are not perk dependent.
Main point here is that yes, I do the dull totems. They are more bloodpoints and cancel the perk. I AM NORMALLY THE ONE TO GET HIT BY IT. Most of these games, it is also the first hook that I will be placed on and will also ultimately kill me.
There are also many issues that I have with NoED on a fundamental level as a perk, especially with it's activation for both general activation and notification of it's activity. Every other Hex perk requires ONE totem to be destroyed, where as NoED can have up to 5 required, before endgame.
All exposure effects outside of NoED and Devour Hope also give instant notification. Devour Hope also has a lengthy list of requirements to activate outside of "be loosing" in order to achieve the same effect. Devour Hope is also a TEACHABLE perk, one that should be more powerful than base-perks as you have to do a lot more work for them to become available.
So, fellow killers, while you lot think up of an actual excuse for NoED being the way it is, I'll be off actually doing the damn bones whenever I decide to indulge in a little bit of Survivor while I try to progress my Archives. In the meantime, whenever any of you argue about Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Unbreakable just remember this advice, since it's ok for YOU to give it: Just don't tunnel, camp or slug. Never mind that the survivor ran at you or started working on that generator or unhooking that other survivor in your face. Kinda hypocritical, isn't it? That's how I feel every time I hear the phrase "just do bones".
I did them, so now what?
You didn't do bones. You attempted to do bones and failed. Its a team game if your whole team isn't helping out that's inyour team. Do bones

Like it or not, Rank is a decent indicator of playtime which is also an indicator of skill, like many other rep systems. Until I can see ratings, I have no other way to determine a player's skill level. There will be exceptions to any rule.

Well, I made a thread about this. I played the required number of games, I stomped and it keeps giving me increasingly easier opposition. Rank doesn't mean anything in the new MMR. Still, at 1.5k hours, I shouldn't verse survivors that have under 100h and in some cases under 20h. And that's after I played a sufficient amount of matches for the mmr to settle.
interesting that this pic doesn't show the outcome of the game. Rank doesn't mean anything anymore because it wasn't an accurate representation of skill. i feel this is where most of the salt is coming from because it sucks to find out that you are average at best
-
Its part of the game. Players looking down on it are cry babies hoping they can shame a person from using full potential.
