I see major problem with that idea. Some pc's are hard-equipped with mic (laptops usually) and will hear everything - you bumping into desk, someone calling you from other room or even *clack* *clack* of your mechanical keyboard.

You can still turn those mucus off

  • You want a hex totem that only works after 6+ hooks and all it gives is a 3% speed boost?

  • Results of the participation trophy generarion?

If we get a new female killer I want the Medusa boss chick from CUPHEAD.

A gorgon would be a sick killer!

  • This isn't a bad idea in theory. If I remember correctly 25% of overwatch playerbase is in this mode. However overwatch is highly modular. From what I read dbd is "spaghetti code" which I think might be the barrier to this being implemented. However i would enjoy this.

If so, then it's likely too powerful. Combo it with Iron Will and Unbreakable and you get a more powerful No Mither with no downsides.

If we want to make Lucky Break's effect permanent it should lessen the blood flow, but not stop it entirely.

A more power no mither at the cost of 3 slots doesnt sound too bad

  • I think using comms is as scummy as tunneling and camping. Iegit strategies that were not intended and ruin the game for some.

  • i really like the acid blood destroying pallets or weakening them as you described. however ultimately i dont think the alien fits because she is just too mobile, and they cant make a killer that mobile. however kudos on the pallet idea i like it alot!

  • shes good and fun to play but the amount of salt she causes is gonna attract a nerf soon

  • I think adding the twice hooked would make it more balanced. would you not put any hook requirements for the last survivor for the cypress? people are going to complain about moving the ebony but your logic is good.

  • Where else is he going to go? Hooked in the middle of a 3 gen. That's not camping that was bad play on the survivors part

The only solution I can imagine is if VoIP is implemented in the game, in a limited fashion. That is, players can hear each other only when they're close and the killer can hear it too if he's also nearby. That aside, I think it's pointless. I never understood all the hate for SWF. Even in such matches, the killer still comes out with multiple kills more often than not.

People say the survivors complain a lot, but the fact that killer players are saying they'd dodge lobbies only emphasize the fact that they're much more interested in stacking games in their favor than in actual balance.

If the killer gets to see when players are in a group so he can spec for said group then the survivors should know who the killer is in the lobby, so they can spec for that killer. If you think that's unfair, I completely agree. It's the same point, though. If you can spec for the upcoming match because you know what you're in for, it defeats the purpose of the game.

But while we're on this topic, memento moris and allowing survivors to bleed to death should have BP penalties. In the case of moris, they shouldn't grant points at all for kills. My justification is lore. The killer's objective is to hook survivors to summon the entity and sacrifice survivors. Killing them bypasses the whole "sacrifice to the entity" aspect of the game. So they shouldn't receive points.

That way, killers can continue to use moris, there's just a trade off. In that respect, hatch escapes when the gates aren't powered should have BP penalties, too.

Killers say they would dodge because voice comms are equivalent to having every aura reading perk plus being able to stack second chances. Personally I think swf is fine but using voice comms in this game is as equally scummy as tunneling and camping

I'm an experienced player on DBD on the Xbox One, and today the matchmaking has been absolutely dreadful. Only in the past half hour was I made aware that new matchmaking went live today. I've been duoing with a friend of mine who's also pretty experienced (we're both red rank every season, and I know the meme but this indicates we play consistently) and EVERY. SINGLE. GAME — the other two survivors have been ranks 18-20 who crouch in corners, walk everywhere, and go down to Legion's deep wounds due to not knowing what mending is. On top of that, the killers have been the same. I've not seen a single killer that's yellow rank or higher, and I've played for about 11 hours today (it's my day off work, okay?). The games have been absolutely miserable, mentally draining and literally unfun. I'm not asking for god teammates who can carry a match, just someone who knows all the perks and interactions in the game, knows all the killers and their powers, map layouts, and basic looping concepts. Is that so much to ask? I'd literally be GLAD to have someone as low as rank 10 in my match, and a common meme amongst my friends and I is that I always slag rank 10s and they say "rank 10s aren't that bad". Sorry for whining but I just hope this can serve as an omen for what's to come for all you PC players! You'll pretty much have no option but to go 4-man SWF if you don't want potatoes on your team.

I didn't go live today. Fake news. They have already had 3 million games to examine

Sure there is! Want to dunk on the baby killerino with your 3 other SWF buddies but are afraid he's gonna throw on lightborn and Franklin's because he saw the key and flashlights? Or gasp bring the dreaded EBONY MOMENTO MORI because he saw everyone in P3 Legacy and made the correlation his match is indeed against a Survivor Team Six SWAT Team who are going to sweat their butts off?

Just throw all your meta stuff on one survivor, and queue up in the lobby as default baby dwight. At six seconds, switch. Killer will have no preparation.

    THAT's the issue.

but those things are not locked on the killer so its no big diff...

  • @Squirrel_Thicc said:

Seriously dev's. What were you thinking? "Let's lock killers, but not survivors" yeah that's a great idea. How about we lock both... or neither. Why lock one side but not the other. I think this is one of the dumbest things the dev's have done in a while. Really hope this gets changed.

Outside the exploit to see the killer it's a good change. Mmr based in killer makes sense

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/173667/survivors-should-be-locked-too

This is going to end tragically if the hack to see the killers loadout and killer is still around, however I think that got removed a few weeks ago.

But yea survivors just shouldn't be able to quickswitch, I wouldn't ask for a lock, as I like customising survivors in lobby, but more of a "can't switch when 15 seconds are left" kinda thing.

    @[Deleted User] said:

I don't 100% agree with this. Part of the survivors' power is to prepare for the match, and discuss a plan together before heading directly into a trial. "Hey guys, I'm bringing plunderer's and Ace in the hole, I'm gonna gift you items" = I don't equip an item and put on a coin offering for that other survivor, just as an example.

What I think should happen is that survivors get a brief period of time to prepare and discuss a game plan (75~90 seconds or so), and then they get locked in automatically or when they all hit "Ready", and then the killer gets a period of time to set up their load out in response to what they see the survivors have before they are automatically locked in or they click ready, and then the match starts as usual.

I think that would be the most fair way for both sides to go about it. Allows solos to talk and prepare, and gives killer a chance to respond and customize the killer. Some killers (especially Hag and Wraith) need to worry about some set ups and customize appropriately, because flash lights can be a big hindrance to them both, and keys in general can be a big hindrance to all killers, and if you see 4 toolboxes, you might want to consider a gen slowdown perk, or maybe using an Oak offering.

it will be fair as is if they completely disable the way to see who the killer is. i agree the survivors working together makes sense

  • @derppug said:

I know a vocal minority is complaining about the "killer lock". But I just want to express how excited I am for this change and see it as a huge improvement to the current system in place. I got to red ranks using only Nurse and find myself playing the killer side much less because of this. I really want to practice Huntress, but I don't feel like going through the masochism of "getting good" especially against good players. What made Nurse so much more fun to improve at was I saw players get better as I improve, instead of being thrown into the deep end. I'm excited to go back to that and I can see myself playing killer (and this game) much more.

I think it's a good change except for the exploit that can be used to see what killer is being used. Separate killer mmr will be fun

so they've tested this new game-changing feature on an already small sample (XBOX), making it even smaller (who doesn't spend blood points while searching a lobby? or change to plague with 3 medkits?, for example). But to get confident data this really small sample needs to play quite few games, which is much improbable, considering how small the sample is.

They stated they had 3 million games sampled that not that small

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Because if toxic players can’t last second switch to P3 claudette or Pink hair Nea with a flashlight then a lot of people will be unhappy

You wont have to last second swap anymore. Join up run thr known exploit to pick the perfect counter hope you dont get lobby dodged with a dc

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

Because every survivor is basically just a re-skin of the same character. Aside from some minor visual and aural differences (and default personal perks), Dwight is the same as Zara.

I don't necessarily think survivors need to be immediately locked in, because they might feel the need to change to a different survivor if their teammates are running low-leveled characters (since all survivors will presumably work off of one mmr rank, not the multiple ones used by killers). However, I do think it would be fine to lock in the survivors' characters 15-20 seconds after a full lobby had been gathered. Gives them just enough time to see their peers and evaluate if their current character is fine, but also shuts down the infamous "6-Second Swap".

There is no point in doing the 6 second swap if the killer locked....

I don’t really like talking on mic whilst I play. I’m not much of a people person. Plus, the French guy isn’t good with English. So he’s the main reason we don’t talk over mic. Believe it or not, but not everybody wants to be in a party chat 24/7 whilst they play. I’ve had plenty of survivors add me as a friend without any intention to talk in a party. They just want to play with me as they know I’m a reliable teammate. That can be enough for some people.

You are definitely the exception. Almost everybody playing any game online is using discord or another chat software

  • not quite you would still eliminate the last trip to the hook, maybe they can buff BPS as well

  • nah you should count yourself lucky that you have a chance to get stuf behind a DLC for free.

  • @MrPeterPFL said:

When you play as a new killer, don’t focus on winning, just have fun. There’s no stats that show your win/loss so why would it matter if you lose? As long as your learning and having fun with the new killer then it’s all good. Example I learnt LeatherFace when I was in red ranks, I lost a lot of games but now I’m better with him and he has been added to my arsenal of killers

exactly this. also you get to learn the killer with the best possible start because you can avoid crutches at the low ranks. when you have to learn the killer at your rank you are gonna see the strategies at your rank. yeah losing more than normal might suck at first but every journey starts with one step ya know!

We had these before as offerings. They were called Splinters, but got removed at some point.

Oh why did they get removed?

  • and they dont balance for devout emblems they balance for 2k.2e.... we can argue all night the fact that 3k doesn't mean a pip when they balance for 2k/2e is why they are working on something else.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1452454#Comment_1452454

You misunderstand what they meant by that.

2k/2 escape average is exactly that: a mathematical average summed across the TOTAL matches played.

i dont misunderstand anything.... they balance to have 2k/2e. 3k should pip

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/172761/making-pipping-easier-for-killer

I mean what else did you do to pressure the survivors and earn those kills?

IMO pipping is pretty straight forward and easy (and I play Plague as one of my mains btw).

Perform well against good survivors, earn a pip. Don’t perform well despite a kill here and there, don’t pip.

The emblems DO tell you what you need to be doing to earn bronze, silver, gold, and iridescent, and highlight WHY you maybe didn’t get the gold or iridescent you were expecting.

i disagree if the devs state they balance for 2k/2e then killing 3 should pip. but like people have stated the pip system is broken, for these very scenarios, hopefully the next system evaluates skill better

I find every strategy when executed well okay, slugging being one of them of course. If you aren't gonna use the game mechanics to your full advantage why are you even playing, I think restricting yourself in games like these gets very boring and stale very quick.

Exactly playing with pretend rules is terrible. Only slug that isn't cool is to hold the game hostage

  • Survivors and killers have only a couple obligations in the game. Dont cheat and play to win. Throw out all of these made up rules that people have. In my experience people do this when they want an unfair advantage. Players should be playing to win and get the most BP. You can only control your fun in the game because like it or not some people will cry about anything and everything if they dont "win". If people are not having fun playing a game they should quit playing that game. If to many people start quitting the dev's should focus on why. But trying to play to made up rules is going to put you in bad spots.

The only problem is that everybody win state is different. I look at it this way the dev's balance to 2k/2e so if I'm the killer and get 3k that's a win. If I'm survivor if 3 escape that's a win.

    1. I'd like Legion to get a buff. Scrap Frenzy in favor of throwing knives. It would be cool to see another Huntress like killer.

    2. Replace Pig's Mori. It is too much like Assassins Creed. I'd like Entity to spawn The Rack and then Pig can throw a survivor in it. It would quickly break their bones and then finally the neck. This was Amanda's greatest trap that she designed in Saw III.

    3. DC to be punished far more. Bungie did this in Halo Reach. DC 2 times or more in a time period, you get banned for hours. Continued disconnecting would mean a ban for a few days. In a recent match, 2 people disconnected and that robbed me of a lot of points. Bloodpoints should be far more generous when it comes to DC.

    4. When the lawsuit ends, I'd like to see Jason and Whitney from 2009 Friday The 13th reboot. They weren't in the game and they would be amazing in Dead By Daylight. I'd love to see Whitney with Pamela's sweater on like from the movie. Other than that, I'm happy.

People can be really harsh on Behavior, but I love them. Just recently, Friday The 13th was unplayable for 2 weeks cause of hackers. Servers were fixed and then the first match had my map glitch out. Second match had me get stuck in the ground and Jason killed me. I threw the game away cause I was sick of the developers and publishers by this time. So even if Behavior does something that makes you angry, think about this that it could always be worse.

i love the mori idea for pig. a more sawesque type mori would be much more enjoyable!

  • @IIITweedleIII said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1449137#Comment_1449137

Well I wouldn't mind having to hook twice before being allowed to Mori. But still. The other Mori are kinda a waste on the Bloodweb. And I get my head bit off lately anymore if I use Ebony. So I'd compromise a single Mori of my choosing. 2 hook is fair. IMO.

i can see that too. i would just hate to see the kill animation removed completely

  • @IIITweedleIII said:

Just my 2cents but. The Mori Kill itself is perfect. (Save for some killer's animations, personally. Most boring to watch is Pig) though I rather not have to waste getting every style Mori. Instead just keep the Mori which allows you to kill by your hand one survivor you have hooked. Like giving a guard dog a treat. Having to hook sacrifice the rest.

Hell if it was your choice who yo Mori. Wouldn't it more satisfying if whoever that survivor who wiggled their buttcheeks at you get it in the end?

I can see that. however it would still suck for the one survivor that didnt at least get the second hook. But maybe any survivor that has hit the struggle phase

  • I have seen builds with it, however i think POP does a better job for it.

  • Queue times is the inherent problem in all asymmetrical games. If the player base is split 5050 one side is going to wait longer. So far the only solutions I've seen in these types of games is bots or incentive to play the longer queue time side. I have seen both help a little and both ruin the game. Evolve tried to solve it by setting ranks of role and assigning a role based on the rank and going from there it seemed to help queues but players did not like rolling a roll they didnt like. Overwatch while not asymmetric has this problem as well and tries to incentivize into little effect tank queues are near instant while some dps wait up to 20 minutes. Battle royals with struggling playerbase try bots which seems underwhelming for the playerbase. I hope someone smart figures out the golden goose because asymmetrical games are my favorite but lopsided queue times seem to be the norm.

You can’t nerf SWF without making it harder for solo players, the best thing to do is buff solo players on so they match SWF.

firstly, add a UI, similar to what was just added to gears 5 which notifies you if you’re against a stack team, because then at the very least you know what you’re up against and can prepare.

one of the things about SWF is the unknown, are these players communicating? We don’t know, I’d be fine with a proximity chat

Take away a perk slot from people in swf. You already get a perk from being swf. In fact make swf a perk that you have to equip to swf

  • In game voice comms that give the killer notifications when in use and killer is in a specific range

  • For licensed killers inwould live to see:

Something from universal like Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, or the wolf man.

The master from buffy the vampire slayer, with buffy as survivor

    Not licensed

    Gorgon - like medusa

    A robot/cyborg

Werewolf - like native american skin walkers

  • I assumed hemmorage worked well with oni. Does it not help with orbs?

  • The buying power of people who grew up with fnaf is going up.

  • The wait times would skyrocket. This alone makes this a terrible idea.
