I think Billy is a slept on Killer in this mode, tbh. He doesn't need his instadown. I tend to use him most to pressure the last gens, quickly finish chases with chainsaw sprints and zip across the map to where the action is whenever my Killer buddy gives me aura readings. Mobility or range seem to be the strongest attributes to have in 2 Vs 8 (though Trapper's ability to lock down hot spots on the map is very useful, too).
I think the reason why Nurse was so buffed was to encourage players that don't normally play Nurse to try her out. It's not really worked though, since the long queue times discourage players from queuing up with Killers that they're not very good with. So all that buffing her seems to have done is make the already skilled Nurses even more deadly.
I do think most of the more casual players have probably moved away from this mode by now, so he might seem a bit weaker than he actually is.
A better example is all the buffs they gave huntress when she already would be mostly strong enough for this mode. The maps have fairly enough sightlines for her. And she had an entire teammate to make it easier for her to down a survivor. Billy it'd have been nice if they removed his instadown to maybe give him more effects in his basekit. Like a cooldown addon or overdrive generation. Or make both boots base instead of 1. Nothing to major. But at least he feels like he gets stronger from 2v8 like the other killers do. He basically has green bump and yellow boots base. For the trade off of permanent meme addon lol.

Yeah I just remembered as well lol.

Yeah the individual cookies for each guard was far better from the PTB. I feel going back to that and removing the 14s global CD, and Knight is good.
The PTB version would mean the unga bunga dumb cut off loop and hard zone style of play doesn't work for free, but he can still make it impossible for a survivor to loop on their desired path enough to grant him a hit. The important part is he has to think about it now rather than doing it brainlessly.
He also has a reason to use each of his guards, a Carnifex breaking a pallet in 1.8s while the Knight zones is insanely good, but has no value now with his 14s cooldown. Understanding their strengths and weaknesses in various scenarios gives meaning to his guard decisions, but his current version doesn't achieve any of that...
Agreed. The ptb knight had the perfect design for his downsides. You could throw out a assassin. If it missed. You could throw out a jailer and it removed the assassin. Made him a lot more fun and skillfull then the current design that's just basically weaker old knight with longer hunts.

@Caiman said:
I want the devs' statement as to how Knight is supposed to be played, because they went out of their way to punish or invalidate almost every playstyle he has, except camping generators.
Ironically his ptb version was the best way he was for all his downsides now. Now with the bugs removed he just sucks. He could send out each one on their own cooldown but if he put one out while another was active the old one vanished.

Playing DBD on Switch is hardcore mode, for sure. Doubly so if you play in handheld mode because the screen is so small and the Nintendo Switch is one of the least ergonomic consoles ever designed. They might be regarded as the kings of handheld gaming, but Nintendo have made some of the most uncomfortable to hold handhelds of all time. But it's still the best way to play on Switch if you want a decent frame rate. I find putting the joy cons in a grip and playing in table top mode to be the best compromise between performance and comfort but to be honest, I mostly play it docked and live with the frame rate issues anyway.
I'd love to see some of the better known content creators do a comparison of playing DBD on all the different platforms. Be interesting to see how well they cope with the shortcomings of the older platforms.
Coconuts RTS played a Survivor game and a couple of Huntress games on Switch when he was being held hostage by a hacker, but that's all I've been able to find on that front. That said, there are probably well known Streamers playing on Switch in the Asia region that I'm not aware of because of the language barrier.
P.S. I split my play time between PC / Switch and will continue to do so even after cross-progression. And I'll always be more comfortable playing on controller, regardless of the platform. Just can't get into mouse/keyboard gaming unless it's for an RTS or point and click adventure game.
Ironically nintendo might have that title but when it comes to the switch. Steam when it released the steamdeck showed how far they actually coulda went. Especially the steamdeck OLED which can do dbd 1080p at 90fps. Meanwhile the switch can't even do 1/3rd of that at 720p. Switch's only real advantage is exclusivity because of how Nintendo is.

What killer favoring maps?
As far as I know, haddonfield and dead dawg are the only 2 heavily killer sided maps now. The others are situational.

Got it! It was a off account. Good to go. Also steam deck OLED was probably my best investment ever. Got it when the KH games came to steam. And it's been running like a dream on dbd.

Yeah I'll give that a shot. I normally sign in with the same Gmail I use for any games. So I don't see why I would link to a off account.
-
Hm. My steam isn't linking to bhvr even though I've only ever had 1 account. Unless I'm forgetting something. "A game account with identical information already exists"
-
Killers it's just much better to ignore complaints about your perks. Survivors mainly I see complaints about meta. I don't see complaints for this is not happening or scavenger or any real meme perk (as far as i remember off hand) . But I've seen on the killers end complaints about insidious next to a gen. Or territorial because "muh weaving spiders". Killers perks just seem to have a lot more Weight on them that all of them can have complaints even if their niche. To much aura. To much stealth. To much negative effects. To much tracking. To much chase. It also comes from the nature of 4 survivors vs 1 killer. You'll get a survivor who rages more frequently.

Wouldn't hold out for it. I'm hoping for something. He's very bad rn.

He sucks.

I literally played 10 games of him last night. Hated every single one. He didn't feel like he could do anything with the shared cooldown. They removed the one bug that made him half decent and he got barely anything in return.

Wow, what an idea. You just didn't know what that addon does, talked without a knowledge and just continue same path…It's even funnier if the item happens to be dropped near a hook or gen. Easiest gengrabs and hook stops I have ever seen.

Ssurvivors breaking knight AI by tapping a vault-feature.
Knight having actual fun-bug.
Unfortunate. I hoped all the feedback woulda made this for the better.
-
Don't quite remember the time frame but when we had 200% ruin with reworked undying and nerfed tinkerer. Was the healthiest meta I saw as most people ran survelliance as well. No blowing up gens with pain res or kicking them with pop multiple times. Killers were actually pressuring the map and getting rewarded by ruin. But since they were also a hex meta survivors could easily find ruin and destroy it.

It's a real pity they dropped the auto-aim. It was a huge saving grace to console players and it's not like Hux gets loads of value for no effort. He'd still be one of the most resource-intensive killers to play, and there's already plenty of skill expression in knowing the right angles and locations and distances to set up his pods.
I woulda just made it a option for console users but I know they don't really do that much. But trickster has gotten a change like that for console in the past.

TCM tried the showing premades route. Did not last long when every family member dodged and games took up to 30 minutes for you to even get in one.

survivor gets unhooked so i go after unhooker, to not tunnel right? also to avoid ds, i get the down, and the unhooked survivor runs over with background and throws a flashbang and gets the save, even though i was looking at a wall,
ok so then i go after the survivor who flashlight stunned me, get the down, pick up, and get hit by decisive strike, and they go to a strong structure.
now tell me, is that still tunneling? and that flashlight saves, not stuns should be a conspicuous action?

Good. I'm glad to finally see it. There were literally players trying to abuse it against survivors on purpose with screwed up names. Kinda made me sick.

They said they only received one actual report with evidence. Everyone else on social media isn't actually reporting the bug but is bashing BHVR for 'not doing anything.' It doesn't make sense to killswitch a character for the entire player base when only one report was made and no one is able to replicate the bug
Problem is I'm not sure if the one report statement was true since a lot of people have stated they have sent numerous reports with proof. Some doing it live on stream as well. And that statement on reddit karma rating though that could just be a bandwagon.

I can not understand that way of thinking. Being affected by photosensitive epilepsy and playing a game is already a risk, because in any case there can be a situation that causes flashing lights or other triggers.
In that sense even using a PC is a risk. Have you ever reconnected your Display (Port) Cable, and seen the flickering and artifacts on the screen? (btw. it can also happen if the cable is not properly seated). Have you ever experienced a GPU issue that caused some Visual Bugs, Display Lock ups and other things that caused flickering and/or funny colored artifacts on the screen? Yes, it can happen, and it happens.
There are so many things that seldomly go wrong, but they still can go wrong when you use technology and that can cause flickering and artifacts on the screen. Yet there are people that deliberately and knowingly get themselves into that danger zone.
If people take that risk, they already made a conscious decision to accept the potential outcome.
Because everyone is different. Media and games have shown to be more inclusive of people with these issues (with warnings if theres a major risk). There are dangers of tech in general but it's also not fair to have them walk such a fine line. A projector can go bad in a movie theater. No movies for them. They could be driving and someone's lights are flickering. No driving. They could have a tv but the tv has a issue. No tv? But when games like dbd try to be inclusive of them because they have to ignore the slight risk to have some enjoyment like the rest of us (which bhvr has put a firm stance they do want them to be included. With changes to like doctor and clown stating these in the past) is it unreasonable when they know there's a bug with a character that could affect these people to put a warning? You be the judge.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3754529#Comment_3754529
Dont worry, I understand the issue.
But if they cannot reproduce it, killswitching would mean that they have no way to know what is causing this.
Yeah, I get that. Thanks. I just care for those people as well. Even if a warning only gets a few people's attention with photosensitivty so they don't play him. That's doing a lot more. It's also unfortunate we have a bug that forces this risk onto players until it's fixed. Like the last time. But I appreciate your reasoning on why they have to keep him enabled.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
They cannot reproduce it on their end. Killswitching Trickster would mean that nobody can actually get this Bug anymore and therefore there is no way of knowing what causes it.
Have they put on the news tab about it so that people who have these issues can see that there's a risk before picking him up? Because as far as I heard there wasn't. Which is what caused problems for people in the first place. And all it takes is it affecting someone who's that sensitive to it to get hit by it for their life to change for the worst.

@Mooks said:
how are they getting banned?
Cheat reports need in-game reports, additional plsyer support tickets and video proof where BHVRs support need to manually check if cheating actually happen and then ban the account that’s actually been used in the reported match? Just having the steam id/name of another person shouldn’t be enough if the account itself didn’t get hacked (which is then more a Steam issue and not DbD issue, no?)
Nope. One of the main cheaters (I'm sure you've seen them around) realized a developer was in his chat following his games and looking at his ID to make sure he could ban him before having to wait for anti-cheat or reports to do it. So he faked the dev out apparently by putting someone else's gameplay on his own stream. Then that completly innocent person got banned instead.
-
Yeah he's still very good.
-
I like how they said "we don't like perks hard countering killer powers" meanwhile doctor has to deal with 2 now. Lol.
-
Any reason why? It requires 2 perk slots and the survivors can literally control what you see.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
I mean, for something like that a bad game would be better.
But I highly dislike Lopro Chains and the Vecna-Perk, because it makes you way too scared of Pallets (because you want to avoid the longer stun AND want to get value out of Lopro Chains). And this shows sometimes in the replay and was already pointed out by HerInfernalMajesty.
I also have to agree to using the Hammer at some point. Not saying that you should turn into a M1lly, but if it takes longer for the Chainsaw to land a Hit, there is no issue with getting an M1. Faking the Chainsaw to make the Survivor run through the Pallet instead of dropping it (especially if they know you have Lopro Chains) and then M1ing them works.
Not saying to not go for Chainsaws, the more the better. But if they would have been more efficient on Gens this could have been a way harder game.
That's fair. Thank you! I could try a few games with enduring but I feel that'd also just get me to accustomed to running into pallets lol. I need to find a middle ground. And yeah I know lopro can be effective and have some cool moments but it definitely does have a impact to how accustomed you can become with it. And yeah this was a first time back in a bit game so I thought it'd be a good game to use since it had some good moments and some bad. But I wanted to show my overall style of play.

That hook hit at 4:49 was sick
Thanks lol. Like I do try to think ahead and react accordingly just sometimes I mess up lol. I got into a real good flow from the first 20 second hit and wanted to keep it throughout the match lol.
-
@HerInfernalMajesty said:
I’m barely at the 1:40 mark but already just force the pallet drop. Don’t give up so much time trying to avoid it. It does break up the match flow but just try to learn to take it. If it’s too distracting/flow-breaking then try conditioning yourself by getting hit with pallets using Enduring.
That's fair. I was testing with vecnas perk so I was afraid of a stun and I wanted a lopro hit lol.
Edit:and I kinda am a chainsaw only billy at heart unless I have to hammer.
-
Carnifex pallet mindgame is dead pretty much now.
-
Well. What did we expect.They always go further. People like me were fine with the mage hand nerf because he did need it. But really a power that can be easily crouched needing a nerf? It's already barely usable In some cases.
-
It's great! I bought one with the kingdom hearts games coming to steam. And with cross progression confirmed. It plays really well (the oled one at least) goes up to 90 fps which is higher than most other consoles for this game. It's portable and its not to difficult to play with.
-
@CrowVortex said:
Could you also not just fly over the pallet literally after the drop animation and bodyblock it from being vaulted in that time?
If they move to far away and you have the yellow addon. Probably. I've gotten it off a good bit on survivors who don't expect it and long loops.
-
How do people find these discussions that happened so long ago? Do they just casually look up dying light and survivor gen perks? (Huh the person that was above me had their comment deleted or I'm just going insane. I hope it's the former)
-
Yeah I wouldn't go that far. But my first 3 games there's been people doing the crouch under to insta sabo bail while recovering. So now I just drop the moment I see them. It's unfortunate.
-
@OrangeBear said:
Well, i can come up with one perk for each spell that would combo.
Fly = Barbecue and Chili
Flight of the Damned = I'm All Ears
Magic Hand = Hubris
Dispelling Sphere = Gearhead or Nowhere to hide, you could surprise them with dispelling sphere allowing you to chase them without their magic items.Alien instinct might be good with sphere and fly (especially with vorpol sword)

@Crowman said:
Wesker being able to better utilize TR perks is a neat bonus and don't really want to see that taken away, because I'm tired of killer perk synergizes getting gutted.
I mean he'd still be able to do it with a normal one it just wouldn't be as long with distressing. The claurophobia distressing unnerving sloppy can be fairly annoying to face against on smaller end maps.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Yeah, cant wait to see this Perk never again after people made their Adept.
I mean old object was rarely used from the dev blog a long time ago. But it still was changed just for the fact it didn't promote good gameplay. But the range is considerably shorter. And you can't do it while also doing other stuff. So that's why i wanted a general perception.

Agreed. But the hard limit didn't match the power of the addon anymore I feel. And there have been worse changes imo. Like when they reworked his meme addons and just made them speed ones. Soul chemical was good. People just didn't use it right.

Can bubba still catch up? I know last I tested bubba can easily chase you down through endurance. Especially with his new basekit he probably will be able to.

For the longest time I played the game through this perk. It felt weird to take it out of my loadout once it was unneeded. So I keep it out of remembrance. I haven't changed from it in forever. Motion sick players FTW.
