This feels a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Much like content creators pushing the 3-gen strat during the Overbrine era, all they're really doing is ensuring BHVR step in and slap a bandaid on slugging before they do anything about prioritising hooks over kills (which is what Tru3 and co are likely pushing for with their slugging). The devs will be expecting an influx of new players with FNAF coming up, there's no way they're gonna let a content creator-led slugging meta be those player's introduction to the game lol they'd all just leave.

I think it's more nuanced than that from what I heard. When bhvr was making the anti tunnel perk updates. They didn't really think into how they could be forced onto the killer. Like A OTR survivor body blocking. Or a survivor with DS. And the survivor can still run around with those protections and try to mess up the killers pressure. And they can do that up to twice if the killer doesn't just eat the DS. And with other perks like shoulder the burden or survivors constantly forcing trades the killer can have their pressure halted a lot. Slugging since noone devotes a build to it because they are more worried about tunneling (or weaponising being unhooked) you can completly go around both of those issues. Also sometimes you get your first down early and instead of devoting 15 seconds to hooking. You can force the survivors more out of position by having one on the floor. One going to pick them up. You go to a gen and push another off. Suddenly your pressuring 3 areas compared to just hooking which you might distract like 2 of the team.

I usually dont have a problem with Flashbangs - only when the sound is missing. And this also happens on the Killers side. And this needs to be fixed. But other than that, I dont see an issue with Flashbangs.

My only complaint is moreso the people gaslighting about it. "Just look at the wall and you will be fine" which is not the case with Flashbangs. The actual way to deal with them is to force the player far enough away and try to pick up facing away from them. So they don't have the time to get it off. Obviously very hard with some perks like BGP and teammates but if 2 survivors are teaming up to try to force a FB save on a survivor on the floor I have 3 people off gens so win for me.

  • @Dipper said:

I have it so often that a knight just tunnels a player until they get chased by one of his guards, the guard hits the player and the Knight just gets the down basically for free with no cooldown. An endurance effect for like 1-2 seconds to actually benefit from the speed boost you get on damage would be much more balanced than it is now

Ah yes more counterplay to the killer that ironically has more than most. The instadown is a very skillful move on the knights part and a missplay on the survivors. If you see a knight cutting you off and you know what he's gonna do. Tell me. Would you run back into the guard and just take the injure and run away? Or you gonna let it happen?

Even if they throw the pallet to stop the rupture damage, unless they stun you with it they are still losing distance which is often going to lead to a hit anyway.

yeah but then the feature itself isn't really doing its intended purpose. (to be fair i liked the old dream pallets more than this. they were insidious in nature and survivors eventually would be caught unawares. these ones they just avoid like the plague and can see the trick the moment they look at them. i hope they revise this and bring back the old design similar to the addons)

Unintentional counterplay. They ain't lich or nemi

  • @wakesafe said:

Yeah we definitely need less Billy and Blight counterplay those Killers were so weak already

Yeah a bug being counterplay i don't think is what they want to encourage. And it happened to even weaker killers like demo as well.

  • I mean what do you call the slow they have going through windows?

  • Waiting for the posts "but my counterplay" i told people to not get used to it. If a power is meant to be dodged you can dodge it the normal way lol.

How do you know they are a four man?

Half of those perks are bad.

I don't know that most maps have enough pallets to pre-drop and win. Have you considered not chasing the person who obviously wishes to be chased?

Nerfing perks that are already bad or niche is a bad idea.

Deadlock isn't basekit because Killers already kill enough. Survivors shouldn't be able to get up after being cut down with a chainsaw, yet here we are, so much for immersion.

Don't talk bad on my boy deja vu. It's very good at stopping 3 gens from the beggining. And the 6% and it being permanent is just icing on that cake. Way better than it used to be. Lol

@GeneralV , paint brush brings back at least one aspect of old Freddy…

If they didn't change pill bottle some of his invisibility is intact as well. Past 12 and 24 meters. And he's invisible when carrying survivors. But yeah that's with 2 addons.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Even if the Healer needs to be asleep, I am not a fan of it. This means that I have to be unhooked by a Survivor who is awake in order for them to be able to safely heal me. So it is out of my control, once again, if the person unhooking me is actually smart or not and this results in me being tunneled or not.

Also this might make freddy one of the best sloppy users lol. Even if he goes after the healer. Your healing is basically gone.

  • @Crowman said:

Release Freddy could see the auras of sleeping survivors who were outside of his TR. This addon change is more bringing back that old ability.

You mean the insanely killer heavy forums here? Gee, I wonder why they might be.

Midwich had been literally the most killer sided map in the game for years now. That's not just subjectively me saying that, that's the devs putting it map statistics every year and Midwich had consistently been "the most lethal map on the game with the highest kill rate" every year for at least the past 3 years. I don't believe they put out those stats after the Midwich map update, but I doubt anything has really changed. It's consistently the smallest map in the game.

They've done a *ton* Of map changes they don't highlight very well in patch notes. They changed tile weightings (to make things like jungle gyms spawn less often), changed tile spawn logic (to prevent tile chaining), they added instead "filler pallets" to dilute the map pool (see any "what the heck is this tile" or "how do you run this" post with a pallet held up by toothpicks as the only playable "loop" in that quarter of the map).

Pretty much all newer maps heavily favor the killer, including pretty much every rework. Macmillan, which you refer to as "survivor sided", used to be considered generally one of the most balanced realms in the entire game. We've shifted what "balanced" means and haven't touched those maps, that's all your statement means there. Which basically means they haven't been fully reworked into killer maps yet.

That is all part of the devs stated goal of 60% kill rates. They're intentionally making maps killer sided to make kills (and the game as a whole) easier for killers. And they've said directly it's not to make the game more "balanced" in the sense of being even, they're intentionally making it killer sided on purpose.

Counterpoint though. Especially coming from a 50/50 player who dies on survivor to these map deadzones on haddonfield and coldwind now. Having maps that swing so far in the other direction so that the gameplan is "bring the map offering" then the killers plan is "block it so i have a higher chance" doesnt solve the problem especially with wards being common rarity now. The offering system has basically become the first win a side can get. Which is not any better. What should happen is a map like eyrie or auto haven should be brought down to not have loops hard chaining into eachother where the killer has no gameplay. And the maps like haddonfield shouldn't say "well you die here because the one pallet in 32 meters was broken". But a nameful of these maps have had a bad history. You look into old coldwind where there was close to no gameplay. Haddonfield being a meme in the fact you couldn't do anything as killer. So what I'd prefer to see is eyrie and haddonfield change again because they really emphasize how bad on one side it can be. For opposite reasons. There's no gameplay to god tile chaining on eyrie and no pallets to use on haddonfield. And map offerings should not be the thing to force this gameplay. Because then all it leads is to getting sent to the same map multiple from both sides to get a easier win. Ironically why I run ward on both sides. There's so many maps in this game. I'm not going to eyrie/haddonfield for the 10th time today on either side.

Do people genuinely think that having a smaller hitbox while crouched is a bug?

Gross misinterpretation of what people are saying. There's having a smaller hitbox. Then there's this. Some make sense maybe. But ones where the hit is right ontop of the survivor and just phase completly through them are not.

Hopping in to provide a little context on this, the team has been closely monitoring The Houndmaster's performance and determined that Knotted Rope posed a potential balancing risk when paired with certain perks and addons. They're currently re-evaluating this addon and plan to revisit it in 2025, but ultimately wanted to ensure that heading into the holidays, the risk of an over-tuned combo was minimized.

We know larger balancing changes like this can be frustrating, but we appreciate your patience as at the end of the day, we want to ensure there's a solid balance between having fun as the Killer and playing against the Killer.

This kinda does confirm the idea of overnerfing for the sake of it though. To just make the addon basically useless for those who have earned it. I get the idea and personally I haven't faced it that much. But what's done is done I guess.

  • I actually fell off my chair laughing. Like how do you come up with this?

  • The report section i feel is really outdated. It says stuff like afking or ragequiting. Both of which have a solution already and I don't think I've ever gotten anyone banned for either lol.

It really doesn't. It's the same as running Zanshin Tactics pre buff. A new survivor will get some use from it to learn a map and a 5k+ hour one wont really use it.

That's the problem though. New survivors that rely on it to much don't learn the map. I've seen this personally as survivor and killer when using and facing blindness perks. That one good survivor that seemed to know where everything was? The moment you hit them with blindness they turn into a headless chicken. It introduces autopilot into people's minds because they are so used to seeing where to go. I don't think it needs a massive nerf or maybe one at all. But I do encourage people to play a few games without it to they can actually memorize possible spawns. The best other use of the perk is knowing what resources are used. Which is how killers can get downs quicker. They force survivors into what they think is a dead zone. Little do they know the survivor knows where exactly to go to get away anyway.

Well i could be wrong but i think if they just get rid of the penalty completely people will be dcing even more than they are now. I truly believe the giving up epidemic is a symptom of the state of the game and Bhvr. should work on fixing that.

I mean I've seen give ups for a variety of reasons. Some being because frankly their own fault. Like me hitting a survivor. They get a speed burst. Immedately run into a wall or get stuck on something because they weren't looking where they were going. "Oop going next" or they just ran a loop wrong. Or they were found first. Ect. It's kinda funny tbh.

You said a lot there but I would just say no matter how unbalanced overwatch or rainbow six is they are still way more balanced then dbd. And just a question, are you saying they should take away the abiity to kill go next on hook but then also remove the d/c penalty?

If they want to test it that it is a option. I would not be opposed to that approach. It was frankly a waste of resources to make the whole bot system to address dcs making landslide victories for killers because it didn't leave a survivor in the match to help the team. But then people jump ship to dying on hook giving their team no bot anyway. Other games like I mentioned don't have the bot system so DCs have to be met with the harshest penaltys available. DBD is not that same game. I do think we could still use a penalty but it could be not as heavy handed. Because chronic dcs that just do it every game isn't helping anyone ofc. Because then idk how even they are having fun at that point.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/429912/comparing-dbds-leaver-penalties-to-other-games

Everything you just wrote doesnt matter. Bhvr. is not going to do what you want because they know survivors will stop playing if they are trapped in every unwinnable game in this horribly balanced game. If you want to play baby easy mode you'll have to put up with it, if Bhvr. ever actually balances both sides properly then maybe anyone that matters would give your proprosal the time of day. Its funny reading the circle jerk of killer mains comparing this game to actually balanced games

A lot to unpack there. Firstly, i'm not even a killer main i started on survivor back in 2017 and have been playing strictly 50/50 since the start.

    image_2024-10-16_010154614.png

So i know how the game was back in its original states without any dc penalty and even more options for both sides to absolutely destroy each other. I also know most of the people commenting on this post also are mostly either 50/50 players or still play at least some survivor so calling it a "Killer circle—jerk" is just wrong when you don't even know to what ratio which side we all play. Secondly. None of the games i mentioned are balanced at all. Overwatch just had a few of its most controversial patches yet, Rainbow Six is known as dropping the ball pretty much every patch as well. And league has its pitfalls as well. They just don't let people exit the game and ruin perfectly good matches. It is reasonable for most of us that play in general (Actually even more as survivors because killers don't care about free kills though it does ruin the fun of a game about purely chasing) have seen the stresses of having a perfectly fine match be a landslide because that one survivor that got downed by Unrelenting Freddy once decided to go next. So i would not defend it with just "oh its because the games unbalanced" because most give ups are before anything even majorly happens in the match. Just like instant DC's. And i personally don't care if BHVR acts on this post or not. Its a general discussion after all. But i want to see improvement in my survivor and killer games where people actually play out their matches instead of deciding they want to throw perfectly fine matches because of whatever reason. The major suggestion removing the purposeful die on hook system. Because no other game allows you to do it. Then if the survivor wants to still get out. They have a leave game button to do so. No point of making the bot system just for people to jump ship and still strand their team anyway. Wouldn't you agree?

Mostly people on Reddit hardly disagree with making him 4.4 and im hope this idea would be scrapped as well.

Onryo was significantly buffed to the point she could spam tp and kill survivors. The mains said they didn't like her new direction and neither did survivors or just average killers because it just made her boring to play. The rework lasted for around a few months before they took her back to her roots and she's a lot better for both sides now.

Twins were significantly buffed on a ptb showing their 2 year rework. To the point victor became uncounterable. Again, The mains despised those changes and so did survivors and usual players. To the point it never left the ptb. One of the biggest twins players Lynxi had asked for basekit buffs for years that they ended up going with anyway only when they realized they failed. Shoulda listened before.

Trickster as far as I've seen hasn't been fun for his original mains or usual killers nor survivors since his rework. If it's a loop he knows he can't tap on he just chases you down at m1 speed. If it's the open he just barrels you with knives. Before popping main event to finish the job. Removing all his tap gameplay the mains learned to use and skill expression from both sides. Reworks do not always equal a good thing. These 3 I feel bring the best example of that.

  • @GeneralV said:

Notice the votes needed vs one singular player deciding they don't wanna play anymore. Not against the idea. Itd be still better than current "I want out screw my team". That's why I upvoted someone suggesting it. The first response actually.

  • @Moonras2 said:

I think the penalty for unranked modes you have shown are less harsh, at the beginning, than DBD's penalty. There are no dc's with just a warning, but the starter one is only like 30 seconds I think.

That does not do anything for letting go on hook but I'm also not sure what they can really do about that. Forcing someone to just sit on hook, with nothing to do, would feel like sitting in queue... after sitting in queue.

They could make a mini game like skull merchants drones. Then make sitting on hook, and playing the mini game, worth a lot of blood points or something. Or, they could make the mini game a healing mechanic. Play the game and slowly gain on the health bar. It could even be made to work with perks like deliverance. Hit a certain number of prompts and deliverance activates. This way it isn't a wasted perk if you can't get an unhook.

As it stands I don't mind sitting on hook but it's because I can at least try to 4% if my teammates just leave me hanging. Give me a mini game and I might not pay as much attention to what my teammates are doing. Especially if I'm still gaining from it in some way.

That being said, many games do have a forfeit option as well. Maybe trying both ways would be worth it.

I feel rainbow six was the most interesting to research because they actually give you a full on reputation that changes how you play the game because the game basically realizes your a leaver. Your not afforded the same benefit of the doubt. Your penalties are harsher. You try to grief and kill a teammate all the damage is reflected to you. And you get longer que and less renown for playing. As well as having the title to show other people your just a bad sport.

  • @Reinami said:

Why is it that games like DotA can force people to play out a match even if it isn't "fun" because their teammates are bad, and those games can last over an hour, but someone who plays DBD feels entitled enough that they can't sit through 8 minutes of not having fun in those scenarios?

Or overwatch. Or rainbow six. Both these games have insane penalty up to a season and full on perm bans if you just afk or grief.

This thread is literally showcasing that it doesn't.

But this thread isn't? The point is its a anti face camp measure. they even stated it in the patch they introduced it it was not meant to "eliminate all camping" she is out of the 12 meter range to be considered face camping. So the thread just proves the features working as the dev's intended. IF somehow the killer was standing right in front of the survivor the whole hook and the bar wasn't filling from like a bug or something. Then the thread would be proving the ANTI-FACECAMP measure wasn't working. This is just people complaining that it doesn't hit camping overall in general.

Believe it or not there's people that care about general character balance and don't want a character massacred for up to a year. Don't find her that engaging either. But I was not gonna look forward to bhvr setting a precedent of "let's omega nerf then wait a year" they already did it with Freddy. I'm just glad they didn't go through with nerfing her as far as people wanted. Because some people woulda kept pushing until she was the same speed as nurse and her drones only blinded survivors.

  • I think people are forgetting this is a Buff in some aspects. There was a lot of builds that could go around distortions old charge. Trail of torment/any undetectable build mixed with aura reveal could burst out distortion with no way to recharge it. With the chase aspect you can at least get some charge back. Not saying it isn't bad. Just it's not all a omega nerf.
