But with singularity you can just use an EMP though.
Yeah and that tells him which gate your at. Unless you go over and emp the other gate. And if the cameras staring at the gate. Who cares if he can't mark you? He can still see which gate your going for and just stop you.

Then he's still strong.
I also play with him and I'd rather be able to make hard turns on loops than just map traversal for stealth Billy downs.
Then play other addons if ya want. We are fighting for what the addons are meant to be used for. They make him a lot more fun to play on crowded maps.

Maybe because he could patrol exit gates wayto well with his chainsaw? Especially In 1v1 situations when hatch gets closed.
I mean other killers can already do this as well. I doubt that's the factor. And he could still do that with the new ones so even if it was the case. We have killers like singularity that basically remove the Exit gate mechanic.

They can keep spiked boots as is if they reduce his bit box.
Pc users had no trouble doing 90° turns making looping redundant.
Thing is the boots minimally affect his loop curve. The 90 degree your talking about can be done with and without the boots. The boots are only used for map traversal while not bumping into virtually everything on some maps.

Probably because too many loops became unsafe after the buff to the turn-rate a few months ago. This combined with these two add-ons worsened the situation and so they decided to increase their rarity and reduce their effectiveness.
It's probably gonna be much harder to do cold wind or ormand run cross maps now. Which was already kinda a meme.

I don't have to worry about that because I never play stuff that is commonly agreed upon as as OP or annoying to go against. Guess I'm just built different
To be fair this can happen to anything. Say you have a perk or killer you really like. Then they are updated to a insane amount (as happens overtime in this game when a perk or killers time comes to be updated). Then nerfed to the point it's weaker than when you originally played them. It's happened before.

The consequences of leaving Skull Merchant in her current state for over a year would be far more detrimental for the game, which BHVR is clearly aware of given the upcoming changes. She's a scourge on DbD idrc.
Yeah like Freddy hasn't been in that same state for going on 4 years I think? Twins like 3? And they still messed up the rework. Onryo they reworked and even the mains said it was a mistake to the point they had to take her back. It's also saying something when the funnest freddy has been was when he had a bug where he could place blood pools through walls so he could counter loops better. And his Z block rework.

Dead by Daylight is not a stealth game. Even games where stealth is a priority in gameplay, filters are permitted. A brightness slider is basic accessibility. Stop being silly.
To be fair if they wanted brightness to be a component of the game I feel like they'd have added it by now. So some of the dark and the fog is obviously there for something to make it harder to see stuff at a range or the like. It's why they made the FOV locked for so long as well.

Game looks so blurry and bad without reshare. Theres no way to improve brightness or sharpness in the game itself so before they go banning people for using reshare or NVIDIA they should be adding these into the game which should have been added already years ago. No one should be forced to play on LOW settings to see something!.
I don't want to play in dark room to see something during daytimes.
" What about console players" You console players made your choice to be console players no? Playing 5 meters away from your screen is already a handicap compared to PC players. Some games are better for PC some are better for console and DBD is better for PC. Sorry thats just the sad truth. 🙄
Not a fan of the last paragraph. A lot of factors go into why someone could have a console. Funds or lacks of space for a computer are a example of it not really being the console users fault. And at least other games give options to console users like brightness. Been a thing for ages.

About those kind of players who will intentionally bodyblock you between something so you cannot get out?
Just had an Ada do that on me while a Feng was hanging on a hook as well, she basically threw the entire match because I didn't let her heal me off hook.. guess what.. I had Resurgence with a Medkit and a Surgical Suture which let me heal myself way faster than she could.
And because of that she blocked me between a gen and a wall.. screwing us all over. We all reported her as we should.
An idea for a solution would be that if a Survivor doesn't move for let's say 10 seconds, they lose collision for a few seconds so they can get out of those situations.
Respect for our Xeno who killed her and set me free!
This problem has been a thing since the beggining. Survivor trolling by bodyblocking their allies. Killers blocking them in. Or survivors hiding for 15+ minutes. Just best to report because these "non issues" can only be currently solved with a ban.
-
yeah now that this has gained traction so much they probably should address it. Even streamers that never faced it like scott are experiencing it. its not a "Rare" issue anymore. Because survivors see this happen and think they are gonna be trolls and repeat it to just get a rise out of the killer. This problem SHOULD have been fixed years ago like they did with 3 gen kicking.

I mean what do you think about the topic? I mighta missed yours but all I saw was a reply I think lol. The funny irony of this whole thing is (maybe from the drama on twitter) Lilith had people do this exact thing 3 different games today. Now he obviously found them eventually and slugged them to death. It was funny to watch. Apparently he has recommended a remedy to this whole mess ages ago. His version was after 3 minutes of no chases happening everyone's aura is revealed on both sides.

Yeah I thought it'd start as a simple "should this mechanic exist" and seems like people think generally it should. The question is in what form would be the most fair lol. I think like home sweet home did could work with a faster objective but frequent aura reveal or Killer instinct. Both sides should have a chance at the 2v1. Not this hiding and hunting for up to a hour.

Vecna's one is actually good since it can be applied across the map. Just orb at the hook and you interrupt a heal. It also comes with the ability to break pallets with mage hand as well so there's that too.
These broken addons are really bad though and could use buffs:

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UZNUV6JZORKJ/image.png
They could probably also make Forced Penance 90 seconds, and buff Terminus as well. Those perks are on the weaker end, especially Terminus.
I like bubbas to. It's ironic because he has a saw but the duration is just nuts lol.
-
I'd just personally extend some of the broken duration addons. Like twins have one that's like 20 seconds? Vecna has one that's 30? Like that isn't gonna do anything with travel hook and unhook time. 60 should be the average.

Anti facecamp was NOT a waste of time. No more facecamp bubba which is a succsess in my book. And what do you mean by proxy camping??? do you expect the killer to go at the very other edge of the map to let survivors unhook in peace? If devs actively start going against every single strategy killers have, you will not have many killers left anymore. Its hard enough to keep up with gen speeds. And if you dare to say skill issiue, i can also say skill issiue the moment you even land on the hook. So anyone who gets proxy camped in the first place should just loop better.
Oh my.
Of course AFC was a waste of time. Since Facecamping barely existed it all. All the feature did was that you now have a bar which does not fill up while getting camped. And mind you, this is not only the Killer being the minimum distance to not trigger the feature away, it is also things like camping someone who is in the Basement or on other Hooks which are hard to reach for a Survivor who wants to go for the Unhook.
And well, nobody is saying that the Killer has to go to the edge of the map. To quote you, you are just "inventing fantasy scenarios". But if Killers dont even try to get into other chases because proxycamping is just so good, this is just a problem.
And well, saying that someone should loop better, in a time where Loops are so unsafe that you get easily bloodlusted… Not really a valuable tip. Except if you can tell me what I should do against a Killer who refuses to kick a pallet because bloodlusting is just free (if we look at free = getting the down).
How you can even say anti 3-gen was HELPING killers is a super wild claim and has litteraly no logical basis.
It is actually very simple, but you dont want to understand it. To prevent 3-Gens, they implemented a feature which almost never comes into play. I have never seen a Gen being blocked in my games, neither as Killer nor as Survivor. I dont say it never happens, but it barely happens.
However, the changes that Survivors cannot tap Gens anymore to stop them from Regressing is far more relevant for games. That they also increased the damage done by a Kick to 5% is also something that comes up in every game.
So basically Killers got a Nerf which barely ever affects them, but got also a Buff which is more relevant and a Buff which comes up in every game where a Killer kicks a Gen.
Not disagreeing at all with the start. But on the last part it's actually fairly frequent for me to go up to a gen with claws when running a kick build like buffed trail, oppresion, survelliance. Combined with like surge. I don't know if that means the gens fully blocked or it's a visual bug since it happens when I haven't even kicked the gen more than 3 times and maybe it got blown up by surge like twice. It should block at 8 right?

Okay well some people would rather win and you can't blame or get mad at them for wanting too
Are they winning though by being down to 2 gens remaining with only 2 of them? Eitherway they probably die just it's less of a time-sink for all parties if there was a mechanic that say gave the survivors more gen speed but killer instinct every 30 seconds or something. Against a normal killer. Currently They either die because their found eventually. Or die to server close after a hour. One requires the killer to run around the map for who knows how long checking every locker, Crack, corner and the basement. The other isn't even really meant to be reached in a normal game.
-
For those questioning the nature of hostage taking with survivors. 2 pictures from the past have been brought up with the stuff currently going on.
Survivors have a objective to do and they are heavily encouraged to stick to it. While we do not know how long it has to be for it to become bannable for survivors. I can safely say in my case of 30 minute red forest game? Probably there was grounds to ban survivors for it. As over 15 minutes of it was them not even attempting to do their job. And I would rather besides resorting to bans have a mechanic that addresses this in some way. Whether it be aura reveal/ Killer instinct on the killer end and gen boost for the survivors. I wouldn't mind that. Slugging for the 4k has nothing to do with hostage taking as the game can still end for the survivor.
-
@HamsterEnjoyer said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3780643#Comment_3780643
The killer can go search for them. There is no objective for them to do because if they even touch a gen Spirit will just kick it and force them off. So atp Spirit would be holding the game hostage if we wanna get into the nitty gritty, not to mention the fact that trying to do a gen is guaranteed death which is the problem. There is literally NOTHING they can do but wait for the other to die which is what they did
Doesn't make it not bannable. They have to eventually progress the objective. From what I have from my own reports on the manner and a dev comment. This is not on the killer finding them because they have the objective to do the gens and escape. And like I said to another person. The mechanic doesn't have to be a guarantee death to the survivors. It could be something like gen speed boost with frequent killer instinct. So both sides can actually progress.

The devs have also directly stated that if the killer is just holding a 3 gen, and not making any attempt to down or hook survivors for an extended time that the killer is holding the game hostage.
This same situation came up during the 3 gen and cobruption meta and they again said the same thing.
Since you like links directly to the dev statements on this, here you go:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/521124#Comment_521124
Problem is on your example I didn't kick gens for the 30+ minutes and refuse to chase. I'd certainly chase if I found them. But they were hiding in corners and lockers. Refusing to do their end of the objective. I was looking. I had abandoned the gens like past the 10 minute mark. Once it becomes obvious what they are doing it becomes bannable. For example I've reported on this before. I thought I made the stance quite clear. I acknowledge the killer can do it to. But that's not the topic of this discussion. It's about giving survivors something that removes this as a possibility. Whether it be when down to the final two they get a gen speed boost but they also have their aura frequently revealed. So both sides can actually progress. Idm. This has been a problem for Years and still has not been addressed with a mechanic.
-
@HamsterEnjoyer said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3780634#Comment_3780634
The survivors didn't hold anything hostage, they had literally nothing to do with no objective. The problem isn't survivors needing to be punished for not just allowing the killer to kill them, they need to find a way to make survivors able to win. Genuinely there was no point, hard camping a 4 gen as spirit on midwich left the final two with no options but to hide and hope the other died it all boils down to "These survivors should've let me kill them!"
The devs have repeated time and time again if the survivors aren't progressing the objective (which they still can do gens they just choose not to so saying theres no objective to be done is untruthful) and just hide and refuse to touch them. They are infact hostage holding. Because the games not progressing. The killer can't chase them. And they refuse to progress gens.

I dont know if people saw the survivors in their video do it and decided to replicate it which is why i ran into 2 hiders on red forest. But i have no connection to their scenario (though i cannot speak for the survivors i faced). Now that their thing has gotten traction I expected someone to bring it up in this forum post. Eitherway both sides were holding the game hostage in that scenario. Bhvr cannot pick sides there. Also I've been playing since 2017. Forum member since 2019. I've seen this for YEARS. Because BHVR refuses to address it with a mechanic. I've seen it happen to streamers. Had it happen to myself. Ect. For proof look at the timing and it's me asking a actual dev. Find a way to delete slugging for the 4k is the only way this might be feasible. Like, completely eliminate slugging at 2 survivors left, and even then it's likely to be abusable.
Because in a "slug for the 4k" situation, you have two survivors, one slugged, and at least one gen left. The last survivor is under no obligation to just give up, which is what touching a gen would do in that situation.
So you have 4 minutes to bleed out the other survivor, and presumably a couple minutes to find hatch. Even then, there's a chance at the door during EGC. So, this mechanic that reveals survivors wouldn't be able to work for at least 8 or 9 minutes, since all of that hiding is normal gameplay.
Otherwise you may as well just make the game end in a 4k when the 3rd survivor dies. Which I think is really what some people actually want.
I mean I knew that was a possibility that's why I said after 5 minutes since that's a minute over the survivor slug timer. As long as the survivor has touched a gen around the time the last survivor was down and went to stealth. They'd be fine. You also could just disable this mechanic if a survivor is slugged. So it can only affect 2 survivors holding the game hostage.

I'm not handicapping myself.
I don't like to kill people with five gens left, that's all.
Also I mean I do that to. I couldn't control the one survivor that decided they weren't having fun after getting downed once. So they self died on hook. Then the other 2 let their teammate die. And then forced me into a stalled game for like 30 more minutes. After I found the one I was over it by that point. They had destroyed like almost 3 matches worth of time for me. I don't have hours to play I wanna get in do my dailys, challenges and the like. And just have fun. Not run around for 30+ minutes because people have nothing better to do.

You mean the anti face camp mechanic that is completely circumvented by proxy camping at 11m? So I guess this anti survivor mechanic would be disabled by crouching for 1 second.
Or the anti 3 gen mechanic that also came with free any gen tap? So which "compensation" mechanic should survivors get that always applies in every game, even if stalling doesn't occur?
I have no idea what anti tunneling is, since every single anti tunnel effect is a perk, which is exactly their point.
Basekit BT kinda. Since when I started the killer could just be undetectable and down you through even BT as a perk since it relied on TR.

Survivors must participate in normal gameplay as defined as things that progresses their goal of escape. Healing and using items is normal gameplay. Deliberately throwing themselves at a killer is not.
I think the devs are cautious about explicitly stating that survivors must reveal themselves to a killer when there is no reasonable chance of escape because that would attract a lot of blowback. They’ve been pretty skittish about their positioning on certain playstyles since Patrick said survivors who loop for 5 gens but still end up on hook or dead aren’t skilled players. It’s also why there’s no reveal mechanic or whatever to expose immersed survivors. They allow slugging and tunneling and camping, which are legitimate playstyle. But so is immersion.
Had to find this as it's been a while. It's been over 4 years since this statement. Though this hiding has been around since pretty much the beggining. Same as a killer blocking a survivor into a corner until they inevitably die. Personally I just think a mechanic would make it less of a pain point so it doesn't have to resort to just "I lose 30+ minutes of my time but you get a ban"
-
@Ayodam said:
You could run Whispers, Spies, or any other number of perks that detect immersed survivors. The response to survivors who face uncomfortable playstyle is always to “run X perk.” Apply that to your killer games as well. 🤷🏽♀️
Ironically that's not how I feel about things. I'm aware that perks can help this scenario (depending on the situation) though that can go in many cases of the past with borrowed time DS and the Like as you stated. And to not dive into stuff like basekit BT because I definitely believe it's healthy for the game as a 50-50 player. The thing is, this isn't playing the game, and is actually listed as a bannable offense as your holding the game hostage. Same as SM players who would just kick gens and never chase. And they changed that by introducing the kick limit. So if the survivors want to do the reverse and refuse to touch a gen for over 15 minutes. The game should step in and say enough by actually either forcing them into a Chase or to actually interact with the gens. Because then your just not playing the game at that point. The goal is to do the gens and escape. Not hide for as long as possible.

To be honest if the Billy change was just removing Overdrive I still think he'd be totally fine lol. He didn't even need it, he didn't need overheat either, he just needed his animations and collisions fixed.
I think the problem with that is that billys basekit had aged by the time they had the chance to finally remove overheat. If billy didn't have overdrive and also didn't have the basekit buffs they gave him (like less cooldown and half engravings base along with curve buff) he'd be very weak even though he has a instadown on command. It also makes it very hard to make addons for him as his design is fairly one-note.
-
@Devil_hit11 said:
i doubt it. dad boots is good because you can charge his overdrive. when in overcharge, you can miss his chainsaw and m1 survivors out of position due to missed cooldown. While overdrive is active, you use curving. when overdrive ends, you abuse dad boots to get overdrive again and you do same thing.
Billy is like hit & run killer with strong chase. When he gets downs, dad boots helps him proxy camp and return to hooks. It is currently in my opinion his best add-on.
The other 2 add-on that people debate on being strongest which are iri engravings and Lopros chains.
Technically spiked boots would be obviously better than Dad's boots since it gives more turn rate. I'm talking mostly about the brown one. But yeah on a lot of maps billy being stuck in a mostly straight line with how low his turn rate is at default makes it very hard to use it for mobility with how much fluff is scattered around maps now. So I thought if the turn rate can let billy get a bit farther and avoid some of that clutter it'd be nice. It's just personally makes him feel a lot better for me. And this is talking in the case of they do nerf how often overdrive happens.

I agree with everything you say, I put FNAF in the same camp as Goosebumps, and I like the original FNAF, and I like Goosebumps... but they aren't series for a mature horror audience, and the rest of the content in this game is not suitable for the FNAF audience.
The quote from the 11 year old is poignantly hilarious xD
As someone who used to work in GAME in UK, parents are dreadful at enforcing age restrictions, and that is a legitimate concern. When Grand Theft Auto 4 was released, I gave the same warning every single time:
"So GTA4 is an 18 rated game, it contains numerous references to gang related violence, drugs, murder and prostitution, and regularly has the player engage with each of these acts, are you sure you want to buy this game?"
You would not believe the number of parents that respond with "oh they've heard it all before on the playground"... that response always dumbfounded me... in the entire time we sold it, only 3 parents decided not to buy the game for their 10 year old child...
I'm not a fan myself of FNAF series as a whole... and while this is entirely my opinion and not anything objective, and I don't want to try and gatekeep by saying something FNAF isn't scary for a mature audience (especailly as horror is subjective), it's a strange entry for DBD.
I know people point at Clown elephant and Legion rabbit cosmetics, but to respond to those, while I don't like those cosmetics myself, in both cases its playing on the trope of a disarming killer, same kind thing as Pennywise is disarming until his trap his sprung.
Its also true there is a lot of goofiness in the major horror series/icons as well... its a fact that pretty much every major horror series has incredible jank and goofiness in it... but usually the original film and immediate sequel does not. Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Ft13th, Child's Play, Hellraiser, SAW (after 6), Alien, Predator, etc. It's not uncommon at all to say a horror series degrades over its run, and FNAF is the same... but the starting points respectively of each of those IPs is not the same ball game as FNAF...
There are numerous FNAF fans here, and I will extend the olive branch that I like the original FNAF... but the additions in later series that creates this idea of robots with innocent children's souls as your antagonists, that are sometimes friendly, sometimes not, and may or may not hurt you depending on who you are and how much you piss them off... doesn't hold quite the same feeling as someone like Myers who wants to and will relentlessly try to kill you just watch the light fade from your eyes.
Agree with most, but on the last point I feel that's why they'd do springtrap. Scott said he doesn't feel like making the children possessing the animatronics killers for no reason is something he wants to see happen. Afton on the other hand. Murdered what 6 children? Tried to kill his own son. Tried to kill a security guard who burned down the place with both of them in it. Got found and put under the pizza plex. Somehow came back to life and was able to posses freddy and the other animatronics to attempt to kill Cassie. I mean he was dragged to hell for a reason lol.

The Devs only have a few days to implement any changes from the PTB to Live and I would guess that most changes are in the pipeline already (e.g. during the Blight-PTB the PTB featured an outdated version of Blight, so there was not really a point in testing it anyway).
Didn't the PTB drama kinda Start after Ash Williams? Who was I think the only simultaneous release? I heard that he released and mettle of man was so bad that they had to rush out a patch to fix it. And the PTBs started after that drama.

His addons overall are super bad and missing understanding of killer design. I have no doubt anyone who designed it didn't play/test this killer at all.
+40% to duration of KI? As green addon, really?
Breaking pallet instantly recharge teleport? TELEPORT? You should never use teleports in chase.
Plenty of useless addons on teleport and 0 good addons on actually chase powers: Wolf and Hellfire.
Like first match I played I already thought: "oh I wish there were some addons on wolf similiar to Wesker's ones", "It could be cool if this range addon didn't have this downside".
Addons design always has been weakest BHVR point, ~35% of all current killers addon are useless / almost useless / or even harmful to run.he can honestly fight with pyramid head but he probably still wins via pyramid head just having that bad of addons lol.

theres no way….
Edit: just double checked the addon. you are correct. like its halarious how bad this is. They had to of missed like a 0 or something there's no other way. -

Yeah, it is doubtful. But it would be funny.
Very.

I would be very happy if it is just a skinpack.
doubtful with how popular the springtrap concept and vote was. Even enough to get a response from Scott years ago when he wasn't going for collabs. We will see.

Forums being overdramatic again.
i mean i think some of it comes from remembering the devs made overheat in the first place. So theres a fear of dropping him to a point he becomes boring to play again. And the usual of "hey we are nerfing these parts" but what about his 10 addons that do absolutely nothing? And how sometimes they go just half way on how they do these tweaks? Will they improve the 10 addons that suck or just nerf him and thats it? Ya know. Stuff like that. Like he has a purple i think that improves the time before his chainsaw dissipates heat by like 5 seconds? Oh no….*taps the saw for 1 second* addon achived. We had a good example of this with Knight where all they did was really improve what made him boring to face against (People still go next though anyway) but now the knight player isnt having fun either.

I would expect a slight cooldown for Overdrive. IMO he gets it way too frequently and after all, it is also something which he gets when messing up a lot.
I think not gaining anything on the Overdrive-meter after fresh out of Overdrive for a few seconds should already do the trick.
Personally I wouldn't be to mad lol. I wanted a meme addon to remove it entirely because I just liked original billys flow. Not having it every 2 seconds would be fine for me. They just also need to address how halarious some of the addons are like dissipation rate. And how strong lopro is.
