That's not 'no consequence', though! That's the point! Two perks and a bunch of downtime for a survivor you're not pressuring, how's that a problem?

Yeah, the scenario seems very unfair to the killer if you ignore every detriment to the survivor.

You do know how much consequence this is to the killer as well though right? Survivor gets unhooked. They have the trifecta let's say for the sake of my arguement. They see their healthy teammate being chased. They get in the killers way. Killer smacks them. (2.7 second weapon swipe) and the survivor runs forward before bodyblocking again. Killer downs them (2.7 seconds again not counting the chase time we could say 10 seconds for brevity). The survivors down now. The killer can choose to go continue their chase with the healthy survivor where they gotta catch back up again first and not to mention any loops that survivor has now gotten to. They can camp the survivor on the floor for the rest of their ds time. (Which means they are buying time for their rest of their team on gens) or the killer can pick them up and get this over with which hits them with a 5 second stun and they gotta re-down the survivor again. All of this is happening while 2 survivors can still be holding that gen button. Who's losing more time here really? Especially if the killer camps the slug the 3rd survivor is now also free to go do some gens. Not every killer can be everywhere at once. Sometimes even the little times matter a lot. (Realized I never mentioned unbreakable but don't really need to since the killer still has to wait out ds anyway to even pick up) and the survivor can do this every unhook if you don't burn the ds on the first pick up. Say they picked themselves up with unbreakable the first time. They'll just do it their next unhook and this time they need a teammate. Congrats.

If you leave them on the floor they are allowed to get up with no consequence.

I must've missed the patch where survivors can now instantly recover from the dying state, basekit.

You know what I meant. If the killer doesn't just camp the slug to wait out the DS and they have unbreakable. Because i was speaking to a killer trying to play fair and chase different survivors. But eitherway if you don't wanna actually argue the point of the post. You do you. These perks may be a shield but they can also be a very sharp sword if used in a different way.

Then they're dropping two perks and a bunch of slug time, plus extra idle time while fishing for an opportunity, on one bodyblock. Resurgence would probably work better.

Isn't that what they did back in 2020 that people hated? Because it basically forced you to get a weapon swipe via downing them. Then have to make up the distance to chase your initial target again? Except now they can use stuff like OTR and block you twice. And if you pick them up you get stunned. If you leave them on the floor they are allowed to get up with no consequence through unbreakable. Basically there's no winning for the killer here because the survivors can just use their perks as shields for their teammates. A true tunneler will honestly just hard focus them to get them out of the match as fast as possible. Meaning they don't have to deal with all this. A fair killer has to either decide to take them out of the game to prevent them from being aggresive with it or just let them go scott free after they already ruined the killers chase they had. Like I love the perks I use them to. They are nice when your actually being hard focused out. But when I'm playing the other side and survivors just want to flaunt it and be aggressive. I'm taking them out for it.

  • I always thought we could use more like haunted grounds. A perk slot for maybe hurting the survivors if they get bone greedy.

  • They probably aren't gonna respond. Because eitherway it looks bad to them. They left a bug in the game so long it basically became balance. Or they shadownerfed a killer and called it a "bugfix" eitherway sounds bad for them.

They're hoping they can push a shadow nerf by claiming it's always meant to be that way. They've shown willingness to lie to our faces before, so they're doing it again. Don't accept it, keep reporting it and keep pushing against it until they revert this #########.

I remember when they removed opening lockers on shadowdance addons "it was a bug" While it was literally in the text of the addon.

  • Yeah I like the idea of a addon removing overdrive. And cracked primer bulb giving perma overdrive. So you can enjoy different versions of billy.

  • @radiantHero23 add it to the list.

Do you want a forced, fake apology?

If you have to ask for it, is it an apology at all?

They'll probably give you some bloodpoints at some moment in the future, I believe that is what they equate to apologizing

I mean is it impossible to get a honest one nowadays from a company? It's a serious thing. And I'm sure they know it. It's just weird that wasn't one of the first things they said when informing everyone.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

"Like this wasn't seen in a playtest?"

This is something where I have to defend the Devs. Not everything which can happen in terms of Bugs or Glitches can actually be seen during testing. This is why providing data (e.g. which platform or which components are in the PC) is so important to recreate the issue.

BHVR would not be the first company where something slips through testing because they did not encounter it while testing it. For example, I did not have this problem at all so far, but this does not mean that it does not exist. And you can only prevent things when you know that they are there and while I dont know on how many platforms and with what specs the Devs have been testing this, it happens all the time in game development that something slips through.

I still think a actual apology woulda been better than just saying "consult your doctor before playing the game" after the fact. And the moment the bug was realized they shoulda been on the ball to warn and get the news out. (Which i guess they went at a decent pace) But yeah your probably right on that front. They just beat around the bush telling people not to post videos or be mindful of others watching their content. And until the hotfix these players really can't play or watch their favorite content because they run this major risk.

You're mixing gameplay in with things, i'm specifically talking lore accuracy only.

Without their abilities tied to how they function gameplay mechanic wise, Oni's attacks with his Kanabo would be much faster than how he has to charge it up first in-game.

Also even if Billy's chainsaw could do more damage on hit, he has to hit Oni first, which wouldn't be easy as Oni has the advantage of utilizing battle strategies and would be able to dodge Billy's dash. One swift dodge followed by one precise cut from Oni's Katana would cut clean through Billy faster than Billy can saw through Oni, after all, Billy is not a warrior like Oni, who has won countless battles to master his skills.

I know I just thought it'd be funny to throw in gameplay versions as a alternate thought lol. So would billy pull ahead with gameplay but fall behind lore scaling? Because I'm trying to do both of them at their prime. And billys surprisingly more impressive in game than his lore suggests. While onis the opposite. So a actual battle of both at their peak would be game billy vs lore oni

  • @Smoe said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3706505#Comment_3706505

While true, it would not change the outcome of Oni coming out on top because he actually has training in wielding his weapon, he knows battle strategies and has faced and taken down plenty of other skilled warriors in battle, including his own father. It took numerous waves of peasants before they could bring his ass down after he killed their beloved lord.

Now combine that with the strength that comes from his unbriddled rage and the Kanabo he carries, you got a unit of a man that'll hit harder, faster and more precise than someone like Billy just through sheer raw strength alone that only increases through his rage, his Kanabo will most likely break Billy's chainsaw on impact should both weapons hit each other directly and Oni actually has armor for protection while Billy does not.

Hillbilly may have an unusual amount endurance and has more strength than the average man, as well as having unnatural stamina from running during his chainsaw sprinting, however when matched against someone like Oni, he's absolutely gonna get steamrolled.

Fair play, although, like everyones stated oni definitely beats in strength. I don't think oni matches in speed at all as the game itself proves it with their differences of max speed. (Billy can cap out at 16 m/s immedately while oni moves up to 9 m/s but he has to prepare his charge) and it's not like Billy doesn't do impressive stuff when you talk about the entity gifts. He can run through a pallet of wood in .5 of a second and keep his full speed.

"While no single piece of wood seems particularly strong, the standard pooled wood pallet has a 2800 pound dynamic capacity. That's almost one and a half tons." And billy can saw through all of that in less than a second? And keep moving full speed afterword (which is around 35 mph). That means one hit of billys saw would do unrepairable damage to oni even with his armor through the force alone. And billy can keep going and do this multiple times. Oni has to wind up his slambs to just break a pallet itself after 1.5 seconds. All of onis moves are made to be overall slower. Allowing Billy multiple chances to get hits on oni especially in overdrive that are gonna hurt. While also giving billy multiple chances to gain distance against him through stuff like lesser charge time, or cooldown. The wooden pallet arguement also proves that in a collision billys saw would probably not only be overall strong enough to break onis weapon. But even if it couldn't it'd knock it back and possibly out of onis hand. Even billys perks show his unusual abilities like being able to tank more pain (enduring) or being very good at enhancing his saw or other objects (tinkerer). Showing he's not overall as dumb or as weak as people make him out to be.

  • @Smoe said:

That depends, if we're talking lore accurate Oni then Billy is gonna get clapped easily.

I assume their both entity-powered since I doubt a normal chainsaw would do what billys did lol.

  • yeah cant even play survivor because it feels like randomly im chained by pinhead because i cant move for 2-3 seconds. It happened 3 times in one chase and i just closed the game. not bothering with it.

Yeah I really like this change. Having to eat a 5 second DS stun every time you play well and down someone was one of the things people hated about playing Twins.

Ironically wasn't all that a result of them mass slugging in the beggining? Leading to aggresive balance updates? I hardly believe they were that clunky on release. I don't quite remember their on release features. But I don't think a 5 second stun was one of them lol.

I'm gonna have to go with Oni. Like… I could see him just grabbing that saw, fully revved, and just snapping it with his fingers. Get'm Oni! Great art, @C3Tooth

Oni definitely might have the strength advantage. But billy definitely has the speed advantage (max 16 m/s compared to Onis 9 m/s) it'd be a fight for the ages!

Keep in mind, I'm still only 400 hours into the game and haven't had much chance to play the ones in the bottom tier (this is an old list before Unknown came out, I couldn't be arsed to make a new one, sorry.)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OROLXMDB121E/killers-i-hate.png

The hate list is very biased at the moment and reflects the current killers I've been against recently (which is an MMR problem, I'll admit that), so its more I hate the playstyle they encourage rather than the killer themselves. Because, as you can see from my "like" list, I do find a lot of the killers interesting, I'm just bad at playing them. Also, a lot of the "Mid/Meh" Tier is dedicated to killers I don't see all that often so I don't have an opinion on any of them. I've seen, maybe 2 Hags during the entirety of the two years I've been regularly playing DbD.

First billy sometimes fun I guess. I assume because his skill floor has lowered a lot? So most billys can just pull their saw out at most pallets to get value. Though in my bracket I still see some clean curves. Also surprised to see bubba so low since he's raised a lot in healthy play from what I've seen and heard. Agreed on the rest!

Unfortunately, that is the way it usually goes with these content creators. They think something is OP and "problematic", but refuse to use any of the counters against them. They want to run their mindless 3 or 4 regression and maybe 1 aura reading.

A similar complaint I see is about Windows of Opportunity. When I am playing killer, if I think Windows is losing me games, I will equip a blindness perk/addon. Every killer I play has access to a blindness perk, or addon. I don't go onto YouTube or the forums and complain so the perk gets nerfed. I just use my thousands of hours of experience to equip a perk that directly counters the problem I am having…

The funniest part of this is there is not even a hard counter to this. You run lightborn. They just start going down on pallets to snipe you. You leave the person on the floor they could have unbreakable and power struggle. There's legit survivor plays with no counterplay from the killer side even with perks. Same case for something like buckle the people. If they can instant heal while your whiping your blade what can you do? Run stbfl? So let's see. I need a build of. Stbfl. Infectious. Fire up. Lightborn. To get rid of half of these no counterplay in normal gameplay scenarios. Here's the problem. Thats not having fun. I'm not having fun running the same 4 perks just for the chance to deal with these no counterplay scenarios. And even then they don't even solve the problems. Sure you can't be blinded. But you can still be pallet saved even with fire up. Stbfl might make you clean faster but depending on your stacks if it's first down they'll still get it off. And your running all this in hope that you can at least make these scenarios more manageable. Killers perks matter a lot to the overall gameplay. If they have to run all this stuff while survivors complained about having to run calm spirit to deal with ultimate weapon. I see a painful irony.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/411526/nah-man-flashlight-saves-background-player-infinite-flashbangs-are-balanced-bro

    He could have equipped:

    • Lightborn to entire disable this meta if this is the issue
    • Some addond that inflicts exhaustion or show survivor auras - Freddy unfortunately don't have one, but there are killers that have those addons.
    • Some perk that reveals survivors - Infectious Fright would be good in this case.
    • Fire up to mess up with timings on picking up survivors
    • Exhaustion - inflicting perks, for example:
      • Blood Echo
      • Genetic Limits
      • Mindbreaker - this one even gives Blindness and it's kinda used
      • Septic Touch

Yet he decided he didn't want to and did video in which he demanded nerfs.

If I don't like my aura revealed, I'd bring Distortion - counter killer perks.
Killers could also do the same if Flashlights/Flashbangs/Exhaustion Perks are the issue, to this day killers have 118 perks and there are really some other perks than Pop/PR/Lethal/NTH :)

I mean he said he could do all that and just hard tunnel a person and win off rip to make it have no chance. But it's about keeping it casual and just trying to have fun and do the normal back and forth. If your doing a hard counter like lightborn. Running a meta build and slugging or tunneling. You'd win very easily. But all that does is promote stagnation and hardcountering to something which can't be countered in a usual game with a build like he had or a killer. BGP literally removes all the necessary timing basically. And flashbang the intended counterplay (looking at a wall). If BHVR wants to promote stagnation and hard countering everyone could just do it. It just won't be as fun. And all the techs and mindgames and tricks you have to deal with survivors doing just won't register to a killer with like 1/10th of his hours. They will get hit by this over and over and the fov techs or the forced swings. Or the vault tech. Or the counter tech. And just not want to generally play at all because half of that isn't even intended gameplay. "OH I have to know if a survivor runs toward me and the side they are trying to force my hit reg to go that direction so I have to manipulate my camera to fix it" or "Oh a survivor might be waiting to run through my killer model itself when i finish vaulting so i better walk back a second to make sure" just a casual thing you have to learn I guess trying to have fun.

You are not doing any multitasking with Knight. You dont control the Guards.

I mean if you put a guard on a survivor and start kicking a gen. Technically you are doing 2 things at once. Same for the inverse. You chase a survivor a drop carni on a gen. Or just chase 2 survivors at once.

  • Yeah I hope action is taken against them for that. You should be allowed to run a perk without being sandbagged and harassed. People act this way with no mither trying to get the survivor running it killed. I at least as a killer have a bit of a moral compass to go after the troll if I can tell that's what's happening. And normally If I find someone doing a invocation I let them do it anyway. It doesn't hurt me that much If it goes off.

Yeah, I just never play as good as nemesis as I do on other killers since I lack the time investment and personally he just doesn't do it for me like other killers do. So I was more surprised it's giving me people who could probably face my best killer while I'm on my worst killer. Since besides the m1 factor I just don't play nemesis nearly to the same level. Not saying I should face like new people. I just thought nemesis MMR would be a bit lower (though I assume stuff like que times and changes to the matchmaking to widen the gap i probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference if my overall mmr is that high).

OTR is not 80 seconds. OTR is the amount of Endurance the Killer allows to happen. Which is often 1 second.

Maybe im speaking from someone who doesnt force hook trades or camps as a killer. But even on the survivor end im not always insta-smacked when i have the perk. But yeah to break the build i guess force a hook trade then insta smack the unhooked survivor. Then they cant use it offensively later. Just means ill get punished for possibly playing fair. Thank you.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

No. DS is not really better after the "Buff". Survivors will probably use it for a week or so after the Patch, Killers MIGHT respect it but then people realize that the Perk still sucks and will remove it from their Loadout again.

Not sure why anything there needs fixing tho. Never had a problem with a build like this.

Mainly for the fact if the killers chasing someone else its moreso annoying (uncounterable even on some maps) to have a survivor with 80 second shield running in just stopping the ongoing chase twice and getting away probably anyway because your either stabbed or they get themselves up. Thats why i see a main suggestion of removing collision on endurance survivors. So the survivor unhooked cant just play bodyguard for their teammates for a prolonged period of time. Since we know these perks are supposed to help you get away from a true tunnel. But they also can always be used as a weapon. Ill have to see how things change when the update releases. But this is what happened pretty much before and we didnt even have buffed off the record.
