I think it's a bit different. One, the bad lighing, just sucks the fun out of the game, if you can not even see something in front of you.
The other thing could be easily fixed, just by seperating SWF and Solo play.
The thing is that the bad lightning is also a balancing and gameplay mechanism (stealth play), so working around that still is a cheat, even if its different from unwanted or unplanned communication.

You mean cheating, like using discord to communicate in a game, that has no ingame communication? Yeah, seems right.
Yes, basicly. But why would you have a problem with third party software used to gain advantages if you just do the same anyway?

Title. That's your post. It's not baseless. You don't need stealthy outfit if you know how to run. So that's best advice you'll ever get
But juking the killer and lose him in a chase is more fun than just run around in circles until you drop a pallet, then go to the next loop. It might be not as efficient, but somehow, in a game, i like to do the things that are actually fun. And stealth outfit helps with juking.

I don't even know how to respond to this... Just lol
Then respond to my other post. Argument: If you didnt have time to do totems, the killer did work for his perk. Any argument against that?
-
Yes, but why has only the killer to work for something. Survivors don´t. (and dont get me wrong, i am a solo survivor main, but play both sides, even if survivor way more. However, i can get all totems in most matches even if i do them alone, and i dont think any hex totem is really a problem in this game).
-
When i play solo, i have at least a fighting chance because i run Plunderers instinct and left behind in my solo build.
with left behind i beat the killer to the hatch quite often (especially if the game is so derailed that it hasn´t spawned yet), and or plunderers gives me a key every 3 games on average (sadly, often in the games i win anyway).
However, the goal is then to get out as much teammates as possible, and thus i still repair gens, still get found and sometimes, still die even though i had a key.
But sometimes, when you got good teammates, you still get all gens done. I had one game where one guy dc and the other hook suicides, and yet we managed to do 5 gens in a 2v1, and both get out. The killer got some hooks, but in most cases he could be juked.
-
But if the killer applies so much pressure to the survivors that they dont have time to clean some easy to find totems that basicly spawn at the same 2 or 3 points on a tile every match, hasn´t he earned it then already?
-
Can you now rework ds and bt, so survivors have to work for them as well?
Just for fairness reasons.

What is a stealth outfit? I played the game only with nvidia freestyle. I can see clear as day with my settings. I once played it without and could see like nothing, much difference and i hated it.
Arguably you just cheat, because the lighting and color scheme is there to allow for stealth play. Using 3rd party software to disable that is just cheating. However, in this game a lot of cheats are allowed, so nothing will happen anyway. But i hope you never get angry at people using stretched resolution, because thats about the same.

Camping and tunneling is never personal unless you bring a key or swich last sec. Its a tactical choice they use to bait the other survivor to him like that they leave gen alone. Camping and tunneling is not toxic imagine if killer start saying doing gen and opening the gate are toxic its their objectif ffs.
If thats true, why were there killers announcing they would camp and tunnel people wearing the pride charm? What tactical decision would that be?
-
Well, check this out: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1731823#Comment_1731823
I proposed that same idea several times over the last two years. But so far, not much people were intrested.
Edit: My numbers were a little different, but the idea was the same.
-
One Question: Is your friend playing killer?
If yes, he might rate them from a killer-newbie pov, and that would explain spirit at the bottom.

Yeah but at least they did it. I love teammates who do gens instead of roaming the map aimlessly. Even if they don't take aggro.
Imagine if they opened a chest or crouched behind the rocks. No one would escape.
But you are aware that in one of them chests might just be the item, artefact or manuscript that explains it all, and tell us how to defeat the entity itself, setting us all free forever? You need to open all the chests, every time!!!

Because SWF is broken and despite it being Broken Killers get NOTHING to compensate, not a single thing. Not even Bloodpoints.
You get your matches vs solos to compensate, because there, you have the advantage, most of the time.
Also, i disagree with several things. First, the killer getting more bloodpoints. Simply not true, and always depends on how the game run. I have many screenshots of games where some or all survivors have more bp than the killer, even after a 3k, and especially after a 4 escape. The thing is that a lot of survivor play the game single minded, you cant just run behind the killer with a flashlight and hope to get all the points at the end.
And while BBQ is in fact an advantage, in my experience a lot of killers need their addons to either function at all or to be fun to play. As a survivor, i enter most trials without any item anyway, and while i use my bps on them, i have hundereds of keys, bnps, and whatever.
So no, i dont think survivor need as many bp as killers do.
Hatch standoff is indeed terrible, especially since all killers always claim that if one is doing gens and the other is hidding, they just down the one on the gen and go for the other. Thats simply not true from my experience, because even in those situations i do gens, and if i am the only one, sooner or later i get caught. And then they just hook you to get over with.
Queue times depend on people playing, i dont think there is much to be done about it.
A point that bothers me however is how the game is forced into one direction. I know a lot of players think the game only resolve around chases, but there are different approches. I prefer to play stealthy and juke the killer when in a chase. However, the ability to juke was greatly nerfed on every map that was reworked, like Auto heaven (lots of empty space with no line of sight breakers) and The Game. The fact that hawkings, one of the best stealth maps is leaving the game doesnt make that better.
-
I liked hawkings, because i am a stealth player and its easy to break line of sight and then juke the killer on this map.
Thats something the recent map reworks heavily nerfed, like autohaven or The Game.
so yeah, i dont like hawkins leaving.

There is a HUGE difference between the survivors knowing who the killer is and killers knowing what items survivors are bringing. (let's forget the fact it's a horror trope for the killer to stalk and prepare for their next victims while the victims themselves are clueless and unaware of the danger ahead)
In fact this was actually abused years ago by survivors before.
Survivors: wow trapper is the killer, let's all put on small game, dead hard and maps.
Survivors: ghost face is the killer make sure we all put on spine chill.
Survivors: wraith is the killer, everyone take out your flashlights and equip blast mine or flash bang and spine chill
Survivors: blight is the killer, everyone use an indoor map offering.
Killer: K I see 4 med-kits I'll put on sloppy butcher I guess?
Yeah okay, that's totally fair and balanced if survivors knew who the killer was. Maybe if SWF didn't exist it would be fair but SWF totally exists and if they had this kind of advantage it would destroy this game and any killer who would be willing to play again.
But that doesnt change the point of the argument.
If the pregame lobby is for the killer to chose if he wants to play the survivors, its a disparity.
If its about preparation, you are totaly right, but that was not the point i was answering to.
-
@GenJockeyNance said:
You know what's super odd? Depending on what build I'm using is what survivors I'm being teamed up with. For instance, I use Kindred and Small Game on my Nea for solo and anytime I'm in a match with Nea my teammates always have Kindred but when I play Jill / Claire who is my locker build, there is no kindred. But there is a lot of Head On teammates.
It really is strange.
So, maybe now you have to pick metaperks to get metaperk using teammates. As killer, i saw some uniformity there...
-
don´t get me wrong, the last second switch shouldnt be possible.
I just dont think the lobby is for the killer to decide if he dodges it or not.
But your 4 flashlight-example is exactly that. sure, the killer dosnt know the perk the survivors have, but he can still prepare for 4 flashlights, or for map and key.
That he cant exactly identify a sabo squad means nothing for the argument, imho.

Dear oh dear, how I love how people are crying here about swfs while guess what, after 2k hours, as a solo survivor, you will get a sweaty killer in pubs with all gen regression/tunneling 1 guy out of the game startegy once in 2 games, while your clueless team mates are running around the map, not doing gens and have no idea who's doing what.
Killers are facing sweaty SWFS once in a while but solo q survivors need to face the sweaty ruin/undying/pop/corrupt killers every 2 games in red ranks.
So please stop crying about "BUT BUT THEY HAVE DISCORD THEY CAN TALK", try and play solo Q survivor and I pormise you that no matter how good of a looper you are, once you get these noob team mates who just roam around the map and waiting to unhook asap you'll see how sad it is.
But that is more a matter of matchmaking, isn´t it?
And maybe i am lucky at the moment, but while tunneling and camping had risen after the ds-nerf, they seem now to be declining, at least for me, at the moment.
the true problem is you cant balance around swf and solo at the same time, but that is just ignored by the devs.
-
@GenJockeyNance said:
"How can I adjust my build?" That's the neat part, you don't / can't.
They probably do it so you can't slap on Franklin's in time or Lightborn. This is why I always have my eyes peeled to the survivors hands when the 6 second mark rolls around. If I see a last second swap? Usually followed with a Strode key offering, I'm gonna make you waste it by dc'ing before the game begins aka the load in screen, not actual dc'ing but you get it. I'm getting too old to deal with the last second BS. I like the choice to be presented to me. If there's two keys, at least I have the choice if I want to play versus that. The last second swaps completely strips that away and I can't stand it.
But if it is about choice, why is it fair that you can decide to go against keys or not, but survivors are not allowed to choose to not go against certain killers or perks or addons?
There is a disparity, that doesnt seem fair to me.
So maybe its just about preparation, not choice? And you just misuse the system for your advantage.

The larger maps increase the likelihood of a head pop, and that's without add-ons to add an additional box to search or increase the search time or reduce the trap time. But in my experience it is way too often coming off with the first search, or def the second.
I have lots of games where it is the last box, especially if you are the first to get a trap.

As we all surely know by now a key rework was said to be coming the december of 2020, nearly 8 months ago. This alleged incoming rework was said to come soon after the mori rework (Which did a great job at fixing a big issue) but just never came. By now im sure most players have added it to the massive mountain of broken promises from BHVR, but i still think about it often. Will the rework ever see the light of day, or was it just more petty PR talk from BHVR? I have little faith it will ever actually happen, personally.
Can you give a quote where they said the rework is comming soon after mori rework?
Because i actually only remember the opposite, where they said they wont be close to each other, because the key rework needs a lot more time. (also, keys being responsible for less than 3% of escapes might not make it that high of a priority.

I mean it's all perk-shaming but those perks are a lot better. It's more like shouting at a survivor for using aftercare or something.
OP could've used their lightborn slot on something like noed instead, I'm sure that would've gone down well too
But my guess would be he took the perk in the lobby to counter their flashlights. I bet if survivors could swap perks to calm spirit vs doctor for every game against them they would be shamed for it, too. Survivors just dont have that kind of information, while the killer has.
-
Nevermind.
-
The game is just not balanced around swf, and the devs dont want to make the game fair.
Play survivor instead. Solo survivor is good or bad, depending on the team you get, but playing swf youself will give you reliable teammates.
-
well, if i unhook you and you insist to stay at the hook, even though the killer already showed he comes back to the hook after an unhook, yeah, you are on your own. Maybe just run away from the hook?
Also, i will take a hit if i do an unsafe unhook, because the killer is camping or just coming back to the hook in time (because another survivor leads him here), but otherwise, experience taught me, if the gens get finished while i am on the hook to save you, i most likly won´t be safed. Happend often enough for the lesson to be learned.
-
I think its the fault of the matchmaking. Killers who camp and tunnel might not get skilled at the game, but they have to do it if they are outskilled by the matchmaking.
-
Frogkiller and Roddy Piper as survivor?
Oh wait, you are not talking about hell comes to frogtown, right?
Nevermind then.

No, its designed to look similar to the RCPD in Resident Evil, at least i would suspect that.

Personally i think it could be three reasons ;
- Netflix is making their own stranger things game and does not want The Stranger Things Chapter to overshadow it
- Netflix does not want BHVR to sell the stranger things chapter anymore because the contents are outdated. (They are mostly from Season 1 and 2)
- The license was too expensive.
I heard yesterday (not dbd-related) that netflix plans their own gaming service, with games based of their ip´s.
So maybe if they want the stranger things to be exclusive to them, it makes sense to pull it from dbd.

I'm gonna give it a shot soon, but my MMR matches weren't noticeably any different aside from an increase in camping.

Mine had way less tunneling and camping than usually. So it might not be different at all, just unlucky pairings.

@TheVolgun said:
I think it is about time I make a post about this perk
First I want to get out of the way that NOED is by far the most poorly thought out perk In DBD history.
But why is the perk so poorly thought out, well I personally think it boils down to the fact that it instills a false sense of skill or "doing well" into players that run the perk (especially new ones)
Take a match where the killer only has maybe 2 hooks, once 5 gens are done this could be due to over-committing to chases or just being new, If that killer doesn't have NOED the game is pretty well a loss there isn't going to be a lot that the killer can do unless the survivors decided to play super cocky and get themselves killed.
This outcome is to be expected the killer lost because the performance of the killer in the game was poor.
Take the same situation but through NOED into the mix and now the killer has a very high chance at getting a 4 or 3k simply because of one perk.
Now yes NOED is a hex perk so it can be countered by just finding the totem or pre-cleansing all 5 but the issues with that are that some maps totems are almost impossible to find and the amount of time it is going to take a survivor to find all 5 is basically going to cost them the match.
Now the next question is if I think it is such an issue what is an alternative, I believe there is only one.
Remove NOED from the game entirely, but I understand that will never happen so I shall remain in my fantasy.
I would argue that if the killer gets only 2 hooks while 5 gens are done, the game was unbalanced at the start because the matchmaking screwed up, because obviously killer and survivor weren´t in the same skill league. It that game works that way, why should it be bad to even it out trough noed? Especially if the survivors are that dominating, they should really easily find the time to do some bones.

Dont get me wrong I'm sad to hear the demo thing but I hate hawkins so much its pallet after pallet after pallet
As nice as it may look I hate it with every fiber of my being it's bad for almost every non stealth killer
cant use mobility because its indoors
Cant use a chainsaw half of the time because you'll clip. Box on the floor
And cant use traps or projectiles well because of lack of grass and many los blockers
This is a mini rant of how much I hate this map
I get that rpd is big and one third of the building is very confusing but it's not pallet haven
Maybe you do it wrong? The devs showed some statistics on maps a while back, and back then hawkins had the highest kill rates on all maps. Doesnt seem like a lot of killers had your problem, then.
I liked it, because it was easy to juke the killer, but this ability is nerfed with map rework after map rework after map retirement.

And can you also tell me how likely that is? Might give your answer some substance.

Because you don't need to know about it and it won't change the result: you can't buy Stranger things stuff after November 17.
But it might change my investment-plans for the game. Because i dont know if it is a single event, or if it can happen to meyers, freddy, or nemesis or any future dlcs as well. And thus regards the health and intrest of the game, and thus has an effect on my gameplay experience.
So, i might not need to know, but i have to make my decisions then based on what i belive to be more likly, it being a single incident, or the possibility of it happening again, and thus, it changes a lot of results, namly the money i might or might not be willing to put into the game in the future.
-
I like hawkins lab, because its a very good stealth map. You can easily break line of sight and juke the killer, which with the map reworkes becomes harder and harder to do.
-
So, now it is more fun to you, because you get unbalanced matches in your advantage instead of more balanced matches. Do i get this right?
-
Just got a game where one is dead, 2 gens left to go, and i manage to do one gen completly alone, while the killer always comes back to me...no sign of the other 2 dudes, other than one of them getting hit constantly, and heals up. the third, as i see when i lay down, is just hidding at the hatch (which i found earlier), hidding there with one gen left to do and 3 people still alive...
Thats now normal rank matchmaking is to me.
-
Also, i noticed the last few games where i brought map offerings that the offerings were consumed, but i still got another map (that noone made an offering for)

Really? It was sweatfest for me during the test lol. Or maybe just people were sweatier for some reason but I cant wait for it to be over
I noticed that my solo survivor matches improved heavily, i got good teammates, and most matches ended in a 3 or 4 escape.
I think that is because the system was good at matching solo survivor at the same skill level together, but the killer might need adjustment, base on the skill level the survivors have.
However, as killer i always got sweatlord swf, at least in the evening, and i am not that good of a killer, especially not vs swf (because i like playstyles that depend on not everyone know where i am and what i am doing, i am not just a chase-killer)
So maybe you just did get better paired survivors.
-
IT might be, and i think it should be. And yes, i have the feeling i get more solos also, and not just potatoes.
I still think swf messes around with the mmr.
-
The thing is thats not offerings modifying anything, thats outright different game modes.

Not that I've seen, anyway.
I have nothing against the franchise (since Scott's retirement; I have a lot against him) and despite not personally thinking it'll mesh well they managed to put in Silent Hill so I actually have faith in BHVR in that department. But the vocal minority of this community has annoyed me so much that I simply do not want them to get what they want out of spite.
Thats what i think, too. I didnt care about it much before, even though i think its just the wrong subgenre. However, i start to hate springtrap due to the sheer number of threads i encounter.
Also, even if he makes it into the game, i think the hate will start pounding in then, because he will be changed to fit into DBD, and he will just not be strong, just like the last bunch of killers. And because it is another subgenre, the thrill of having him in the game will vanish fast, because it will simply not trigger any memorys. Which means a lot of the fanbase that want him will be disappointed.
But however, i still dont care much if he comes or not.
-
I think it still needs to work.
As a solo survivor main, it was partly great, because i was matched with survivors at my skill level way more than usual.
However, that lead to lots of 3 and 4 escapes, giving me the feeling that while it did good putting together survivors, it didn´t quite find matching killers. (however, most killers did good, so they were not just outclassed. A lot would have done way better if they had tunneled or camped, but in all the games i had only 2 or 3 guys that tunneled and no camper at all. for me, thats an all-time-low on that)
And when i played killer, i was out of my skill league a lot, usually matched against swf, which makes me think that either matchink killer and survivor dosnt work propperly at all, or at least once swf is involved, because my killer games are not even close at what my survivor games were.

I go and rescue teammates all game, then when gates are open and I get on my first hook, they all escape, get ranked up, and I get ranked down.
This is Scum Based Matchmaking. I can only imagine the top MMR games are just 4 scumlords all scumming each other out.
I wish this game didn't literally always punish me for helping my teammates. This is probably WHY people always leave me to die. Because they're used to others not helping THEM, so they're afraid that if they mess up on rescuing me, they're just gonna screw their own selves over.
And thus, a vicious cycle. All brought to you by this game's ever-disastrous ranking system.
Actually, thats the point why i stopped helping. I had it so many times that i made a save, tanked a hit, got down on my first hook, and 3 survivors just stand at the exit, noone coming to rescue against a noncamping no-noed-killer...
I will come to your rescue if you showed prior in this game that you are a teamplayer (like tanking a hit or taking over a chase or somehow cover for me), but most of the time, i wont give other survivors the benefit of the doubt anymore. I assume they leave me, because that happens way to often.
However, if i am left and the rest is downed/hooked but not yet dead, i never can just wait for the hatch, i just cant (not even if i got a key), and if i try to save them, they always get me anyway....

So what survivors do to be nice to the killer?
I had multiple survivors in my games that offered themself to the killer at the end of the game so they dont lose with no points.
while i dont do that, if there is a challenge and its obvious the killer is doing it, i often will help him by going easy, and that was the one time i let myself be sacrificed (kill 4 survivors in basement in one trail). I see a huntress that doesnt hit, but it was the huntress challenge? i take a hit, juke her, heal up and let me hit another time.
During "normal" gameplay, however, there isnt much a survivor can do to a killer to be nice other than throwing the game.
However, during normal gameplay, i always to totems, dull or otherwise, i dont teabag or taunt the killer, i dont unhook into the killers face, and i run neither bt/ds/dh (i run iron will, however, because i am a stealth player and if you try to juke a killer during a chase you just need it.
Also, i leave the trial as soon as all survivors are safe and noone needs help.
-
will it?
So far its mainly a killer stomp, where the majority of games ended in a 3 or 4 escape, and my survival rate is through the roof (i play solo survvior). However, i dont go against better killers, instead i get worse teammates. i just had 1 game where i escaped alone and had 10k bp more than the other 3 combined...(28 to 8, 5 and 5).
However, the number of tunneling and camping killers is so far down for me like i never saw before in this game.
-
When i play killer, 2k2e is a draw, and 3+k is a win. 1k is a loss. But then, i dont care too much if i win or lose if i had a good game. It wasnt too fast, i did hook all survivors twice, noone was teabagging, i can take the loss.
As survivor, there is the personal win condition (escape), and the team wincondition (3 escape), although a 2e as survivor feels a lot better than a 2k does as killer, at least to me. But then, i play solo queue, and you never know who you get as teammates.
