I've always found the "race to the bottom" mentality that a large portion of the community has to be a bit odd. It's a ranked pvp game. A terribly balanced one if we're being honest, but it's a pvp game at it's core. I've never played another pvp game where players constantly shame others for winning or trying to play the game optimally/mechanically well. There's a cultural thing especially on NA servers where you should play to the level of your competition. If they're terrible, you're supposed to play equally as terrible and not punish any mistakes.

Because in other games everyone has the same options to be equally powerful. That's where the difference lies.

  • You could not slug and just showdown for the hatch as intended?

  • Otz tries exceptionally hard to win, so not sure where he was going with this. Not only that, he teaches many others how to "try hard".

    Still love him though.

Title. You know, it's funny to see how people have double standards in this game... If a survivor finish a generator under the killer's nose at all costs it's considered a good play but if a killer will efficiently tunnel a survivor until his death it's considered toxic and bad play... So I'll ask you: why playing "fair" if people won't do the same for you? Usually You gave them a "fair" match and in exchange they will harass you for no reasons... Tell me what you think about it, I'm genuinely curious...

Finishing a gen isn't fair? What can a Survivor actually do that isn't fair, DC is about all.

Tunneling and camping suck for the one person you are doing it to and, has been discussed at length throughout this forum.

    Play how you like though.

Chasing with hag is the worst thing you can do lol. What?

That's becuase her base speed is so bad, try to follow along.

  • If you are solo, Kindred, Bond or Empathy is needed. You need that info.

"The whole damn game is centered around chasing!". No, it's not. Not everyone has fun doing the traditional looping.

From the official DBD website: "Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed." It says nothing about being centered around chasing. If that was the case generators wouldn't exist and people would just do constant 1v1s.

There are various way to demonstrate skill in DBD aside from chasing. Again, your suggestion would virtually delete her playerbase.

I'm not a great looper, I would much rather prefer that someone else on the team can take that kind of heat. But you will in 95% of your games as Survivor, need to run away from the Killer, that sounds like an awful lot of "chasing" to me.

Chasing and looping are these things we don't do every game because, the game description doesn't word it that way?

The whole purpose of Hag is satisfying a niche of people who don't like traditional chases. If you take away that you're basically deleting her playerbase. We already have enough chasers.

The whole damn game is centered around chasing!

That's the biggest complaint about Nurse, is that she's not playing DBD, she's playing the Nurse game, while you're playing DBD. At least with her, there is a skill cap involved.

Hag's drawback is boring, she's slow and she requires set-up. So make her not slow and able to have strong chase but, she should still have to win a chase. That's where the whole skill of DBD comes into play, in chase. Being notified where someone is, at a trap you put there for a reason and being able to go there immediatley is pretty damn good in my book.

Because she couldn’t get any damage and we see already that survivors can run a standard 4.6 M1 no problem and gain mad distance by holding W against Trappers or Legions. So this would effectively kill her. Since she’d have no lethality to her power. And survivors can leave the traps no problem. This would kill Hag. And any changes to say give her standard chase would kill her her uniqueness which we’re running out of

It's sounding more like an issue with you not being able to win chase...

You dont want to win chase, you just want to teleport and swing at whatever is there.

  • Feels bad when the person who was waiting in the locker for you to die gets the hatch.

Feels worse when the Killer gives it to them.

Hasn't happened often to me but, it does once in while.

I think it's more a mistake than anything or, the Killer generally gives hatch after solid 3K.

First idea no that’s how Old Hag worked and she was one of the worst killers in the game we already saw that idea doesn’t work. Second one can work

I'm not understanding how being able to teleport directly into chase is weak, that is so strong. Bump up her base speed so that she can maintain chase. Not being able to swing right away shouldn't matter, you are teleporting directly into chase.

  • Something needs to give with Hag, there are plenty of good ideas to tone her down without breaking the Killer.

Not being able to swing for a couple seconds after teleport and broken traps around unhook seem like decent ideas.

You could bump up her base speed to counter the nerf a little and, I think she could be quite fun and a little less oppressive.

Hag has the best jump scares btw.

  • The only thing good about Hag is the jump scares. Sometimes, it really gets me.

  • Yeah once in a while, not sure why. Perhaps they feel the Killer they're running is weak and need the late game comeback or, just trolling, idk.

  • NOED is fine. Yeah it knda sucks when you've out played the Killer until the end of the game, but whatever.

The Totem can be broken so it has a hard counter and, if you are any decent at Killer, it's a wasted Perk slot.

  • This community also raised a lot of money to help one of our own streamers diagnosed with ALS.

No amount of teabagging or, flaslight clicking can really do anything to affect your game as Killer unless you let it get to you.

Also endgame chat can be turned off and, you can block toxic people who try to message you.

It's the internet bro, nothing new.

  • This game can be very unforgiving for new players. When I invite someone to try DBD, I have to teach them a lot. Killer powers, reveal perks, exposed situations, ect.

I honestly don't know how anyone can play this game casually without learning all the hidden mechanics.

  • I thought the concept was horrible the first time I saw them in PTB.

I stand by my original impression.

  • I typically get the stun but, get hit as well.

  • Unless you are trying to get Rank 1 achievement, I wouldn't worry about it. Red rank is super sweaty and, you are going to have a miserable time if you don't have a reliable team.

  • So, you slug me and leave me there so you can go hunt the 4K. The last person is hiding, waiting for me to die and, I'm just supposed to lay there... thrilling!

  • Survivor still has more variety.

I run Sabotage / Breakout a lot because guess what...

    It's fun!

  • Nemesis himself is a little underwhelming. I was hoping for a "Smash through" mechanic. Like a Dead Hard burst straight forward through pallets and breakable walls.

The tentacle is okay, the three hits at the start prevents it from being as powerful as Pyramid Head, initially, also range and hitbox isn't as good.

The zombie A.I. is a welcomed feature that does spice things up, they can not only catch looping Survivors unaware, they can feed you a lot of info.

I think that skilled Killer's should enjoy Nemesis, he isn't OP and interesting to play. That's how I feel anyway.

  • Only because the chances you get paired with 4 good Survivors is pretty low.

Killer is designed to win chases and that's important.

Only the better Survivors can loop Killer's without mistakes and, even then, you can end up in a 50/50 situation that is basically luck.

Killer's can use the weakest link in your team to draw the Survivors out.

Anyone who needs to brush up on their looping game can mess around in tutorials or custom match with a friend. If you want be a good Survivor, you need to be able to loop. Otherwise, you will be the weakest link that your team needs to come save, creating a snowball.

  • It's the counter Survivors need.

He's too damn fast to try to flashlight anymore.

i am at the red ranks rn, its just alot of unpredictability here, i was going for r1 but idk too much unpredictable stuff to try and push hard i guess now.

Grab rank one for the achievement then, forget about it. Ranks, Pips and trying hard just isn't worth it. You'll face a lot of try hard Killer's at that rank that will just blow through solo teams, it's dumb.

  • I wouldn't worry about Rank, just have fun playing.

The game doesn't get any better at Red ranks, trust me.

  • So far it seems Killer's are having good games at Red ranks and Survivors... not so much.

This has mostly been my experience as well. I quit playing as much as I used to because, I inevitably rank up to Purple / Red and the games get really miserable.

I feel like, if you've invested enough time to be Red rank Killer, you wreck most teams. Only a good SWF seems to be challenging.

  • Solo is rough, you have to take it with a grain of salt.

I would probably play more but, the game pushes you into purple and Red ranks, then it becomes downright miserable.

    I've been enjoying Green.

  • If I cared about pips, I would agree.

Honestly, I see no reason to rank up. I play solo so, Red ranks aren't much fun. Repeatedly meta and try hards, I'll pass.

  • So, I typically try to play through anything, sweaty spirit, face camp Bubba, Tinkered Blight, All seeing Wraith, ect.

But if I get tunneled and left slugged on the ground on death hook, I'm out, I'm dead.

I'm not going to lay around so you can try to draw out the 4k.

If you give me a DC penalty, I'll just log off and watch memes for a little bit.

  • Last night I had just the opposite, Ranks 8, 9, 11, 14 vs. Rank 1 Killer

  • I don't find him to be that strong so, Nemesis may be a challenge. I might be underestimating the information given by zombies though and, the random zombie RNG smacking someone for you.

  • I've faced some Tricksters who are quite good. He is not as weak as everyone thinks he is.

He denies you any loop that isnt tall, you will get injured or go down if you try to play them.

You can loop him but, you will inevitibly get hit and eventually injured or down.

Missing with Trickster is very forgiving, you just keep throwing.

Indoor maps are probably his weakest point but, if his hit requirement goes down to 6 instead of 8, I think he will be pretty tough.

  • My advice... avoid Red Ranks, Seriously.

I used to play a lot and, I would inevitably rank to Red. Felt like I needed to rely on Meta perks and sucked the fun out of the game. I de-pipped back to Greens and I'm having a much better time playing risky builds and fun stuff.

  • If Bubba couldn't down BOTH survivors at the unhook, I would gladly trade the one for one so the person on the hook can play. They need to retract his chainsaw after one hit.

  • Bring his Shimmer back at distance, he shouldn't be completely invisible.

Awareness used to be the "counterplay" to Wraith. Now he so fast, by the time you can see him, he's already on top of you.

  • Having a few "easy" Killers is probably a good strategy for new players.

Wraith cannot do the one thing Bubba can do. Facecamp and down a healthy survivor and the injured survivor in one fell swoop.

  • Green ranks have been fun, I'm enjoying my time here.

  • I'm having decent games in Green. Had one facecamp Bubba but, other than that, pretty chill.

  • Making save plays, Flashlight, pallet drop, Sabotage, Breakout, ect.

  • Current game state, probably Bubba. But I would have to pick Hag personally.

I actually like facing Bubba as long as he doesn't facecamp someone. A Bubba who stands in front of the hook is the only Killer who can take out a healthy Survivor and the injured unhooked survivor in one sweep. It's not fun, sucks for the hooked player, nobody else inculding the Bubba is getting any interaction yet, people still do it. I'll never understand.

  • Flashligh clicking doesn't do anything to effect your game as Killer. The Survivor is likely giving you precious distance when they should be running away.

I don't understand why this upsets you.

  • @TheMadCat said:

Does the 6% speed boost actually helps to vault? I'm really hesitating between Adrenaline and Spine Chill for my build now.

It counters stealth, but honestly, looking around counter stealth as well. Without Spine Chill, I can already spot Myers, GF or Pig away. And Wraith is noisy enough.

The speed boost does help vault, stack it with Resilience, it can save your butt.

  • Falling alseep needs to be bad, like really bad. You can't fall asleep against Freddy, that's the whole concept of the Killer.

Falling asleep should cause Exposed, affected by snares (Blood pools) and, Freddy gets highlighted gen info when a asleep survivor is working on a gen.

Waking up should be top priority for survivors.

Hitting an awake Survivor with Freddy shouldn't injure them but instead, put them to sleep with a speed boost as if hit. They are now Exposed and will go down in one hit. (talk about a good Dead Hard counter!)

  • Their is a bit of RNG that can make Myers early game either miseralbe or a minor inconvience that pays off mid to late game.

This build up to powerful is something that I really enjoy playing against.

He does have some chessy add-ons that can seem generally unfair and, you can't really predict them when a match starts but, eventually you will catch on.

I would say his base kit is pretty much fine, a few of his add-ons could be toned down but, as many have already mentioned, he's not top tier so, meh.

  • What a good Nurse does is ruin counterplay. Pallets and windows are useless. The counterplay is to break LOS and try like hell to lose her. Or hope she guesses wrong and misses her Blink attack. This is why a "good Nurse" is hard to find. A lot of your Blinks are going to be made blindly as, you cut through loops and obstacles to get a hit, it's really more of a 50/50 situation at that point. DId I Blink in the right direction or, did the Survivor double back?

If she couldn't Blink through everything, her Blinks would be used in chase more like Demo shred, to gain distance and swing. Obviously still better than Demo as, you can chain Blink and change your direction before CHOOSING to swing.

You would have to raise her base speed if you nerfed her Blinks.

Would she continue to be the ignore everything Killer we know and love today? No.

But could she still be a fun and strong Killer if she were changed? I believe so.

  • I think the idea is skilled players will learn to avoid the "Dead zones" and run Killers around stronger tiles. Bloodlust becomes an issue either way unless you land a pallet stun.

I've come to understand this though. Loops and Survivor options can't be "infinite" and the Killer really needs to be able to win chases. If a Killer can't win chases and spends minutes on every chase, it's gg ez for survivors.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 10
