New players not knowing proper strategy isn't a reason to change BBQ. Neither is playing around BBQ.

It kind of is though. I've tried to get some friends into this game and, they get so frustrated when they don't understand why or how the killer was able to track them down without any warning. If they screamed, they would know they've been revealed and time to move.

  • Dead Hard is not OP, it's the only tool survivors have to counter body blocking scenarios. Since we can't get two exits from the basement, I use Dead Hard for exactly that.

DS may be OP, I'm up for suggestions to make it better, maybe only activates after a harder circumstance is met?

  • The possibilty that the killer has BBQ disrupts every survivor. I have to leave my gen and run closer to the killer or find a locker.

New players don't even know what's going on and, look stupid when the killer knows exactly which rock they were hiding behind.

BBQ is INCREDIBLY easy to counter.

    1. Hide in a locker
    2. Hide behind the generator you're working on
    3. Run Distorion
    4. Stay within 42 meters of the hook
    5. Move one way, then the other to throw them off
    6. Just leave the area 4 seconds after a survivor is hooked

You could remove all those counter plays for the ones I suggested other than lockers.

Nah, I specifically remember each survivor and what they contributed and when it comes to these types of people, I go out of my way to hunt down. You're not gonna play? Then don't lol

I commend you then. I hate spectating that last survivor that did nothing and watch the killer give them hatch.

  • @Captain_Spaulding said:

How do you guys go about giving hatch? I have one rule to follow and that's the last person, if they don't struggle and they know they goin die, gets hatch. I dunno, it just seems nice on both ends. I feel like my one bit of niceness goes a long way to survivors.

My only problem is it's usually the potato Blendette that hides all game and ends up being the last survivor that gets the hatch.

  •  "then with BBQ and chili I win 99% of killer games."

This, yet Im told how hard Killer is.

  • A good killer is about weighing the pressure. If you are wrecking a team of potatoes and still looking at five or four gens, hold back. Maybe, dont hook that same survivor a third time or leave the fourth survivor up instead of trying to slug him.

Of course some killers just want the 4k and, often if you end the game too quickly. You will walk away without many BPs. SOme killers don't care about BPs and, just find it fun to wreck a team they obviously out class.

This game can easily be toxic and one sided. I've had a hard time getting my friends to commit to learning this game because they find it to be not fun.

Don't milk it on my time. The game is over, you won, have some class and leave. If I wanted to farm with you we would of been doing it in match, not at your victory lap. This is like me knocking you down, picking you up, waiting you to get off, then hitting you again and repeating the process. Don't drag it out.

If you have never gone "OH GEE WOW, thanks for those struggling points. That wasn't prolong or annoying at all at my defeat, mr killer" then you understand why most killers realistically aren't thankful for gate hovering and tbaging.

I'm fairly new and I honestly thought people stood around for the extra points. It's usually within a handful of seconds of opening the gate and I thought it was generous to give the killer a hit or two.

I guess some people use that time to troll. I don't hang around long, just enough to make sure everyone is safe and give the killer a hit.

So if the killer hooks someone, and another survivor dive bombs the hook and unhooks the person before the killer even has time to leave the hook...thats the killer proxy camping?

    k

No sometimes a potato just makes a bad play.

Sometimes stealth killers will proxy camp and, those games are usually pretty one sided and not fun.

  • I enjoy the Horror setting and it's something competitive that isn't a shooter. It's a challenging game but, can also be frustrating sometimes.

I have to step away once in a while, a few bad games can do that but, I come back.

  • Borrowed time is almost a needed game mechanic. If someone wants to take the trade to get you off the hook, you should have a few seconds to run.

  • When the killer is so bad, they proxy camp the hook at the beginning of the game and no one brought BT.

These things happen and it sucks, ######### on the hook and find another match.

The only one that needs a buff is Buckle Up which is literally useless.

Everything else can be worked into a build.

I agree Buckle up is worthless. A lot of Perks are worthless... it would seem easy to make Buckle Up even a little better.

How about Every time you heal another survivor health state, dying to injured, injured to healthy, the killer is revealed?

  • MoM needs a buff, make it a (one time) extra hit that only procs on a protection hit.

90% of the time, I never get MoM to activate or, it's too late to do any good.

  • Run tight small loops while he has blood fury active. I would suggest trying to stay healed but you are risking Nurse Calling.

Also there is an Oni build that won't use Blood Fury so that he can basically see survivors all the time. So if you notice that Oni won't use Blood Fury expect that he knows exactly where you are.

  • The clear problem I see is if you Buff killers to deal with SWF then, solos are going to have a real hard time. I'm not sure how much of the player base is SWF. If cross platform happens, I think SWF numbers will go up. I have more friends I could play with but they are on console.

I play SWF with my son, it's just two of us not a whole 4 man. It is helpful to be able to talk to each other, no doubt but, I don't feel like it's game breaking and we still lose quite often.

  • Whenever the game isn't one sided.

I mostly play survivor and, the only time I don't have fun is when a sweaty, meta, killer goes all try hard. We haven't completed one gen and they just keep hooking or Mori people. Idk,

I guess that's fun to someone but, honestly. I've seen a lot of games go really quick and the killer doesn't even walk away with many BPs.

Also Killer / perk combinations that basically remove stealth from the game.

Imagine playing hide and seek with your friends but, you can see everyone. It's just a game of catch and kiss at that point, ruins immersion.

I know this won't fix a lot of dumb toxic stuff but they should really rework the end game collapse.

It's not fun for survivors to be stuck in this crap and it's not fun for the killer to see people on a Tbag timer at the gate. It should be more final and quick. Survivors have the entire match to do whatever they're going to do and killers shouldn't be pay able to drag out scenarios like this or at least wouldn't be able to do so longer.

I hate this stuff. It's annoying to have swf loling it up at the safety gate and it's annoying for survivors to be just waiting to die. It's almost annoying as wraith standing invisible next to a hook waiting for a save entire match. Almost.

I thought we hung around at the open gate to milk extra heals and offer the killer free swings for points... 🙄

  • @Orion

If you want to argue sense, most of the characters don't have degrees in electrical engineering either, but they sure can repair generators with ease.

DbD has supernatural elements. Don't try to make sense of it by comparing it to real life.

Typically, I agree and can even accept scratch marks to a degree but, the current use of them makes trying to break a chase really hard. If you line up that pallet stun or window vault and gain some distance, you deserve to lose the killer and not have a red hot trail on your ass.

There are unsafe pallets that the Killer wont even bother to follow you through because the path is so short around, they just go around. So as survivor you literally have to stop and try to lure the killer into a loop and pallet drop.

  • Scratch marks are too ridiculously visible and last too long, they should only give the killer an idea which direction you've gone, not lead them right to you. It doesn't even make sense. I don't leave bright red trails while running through the woods and walled maps, like #########, why would anyone "scratch" the walls while trying to escape from a killer?

DBD has repeatedly removed stealth from the game, offering survivors on a silver platter for the Killer and we can't out run them so... LOOPING.

  • With the way killer speed works, plus perks, ranged attacks, blink, clown gas, it's safe to say the Killer is meant to catch you. Looping is the only thing you can constructively do until you can set up a pallet drop or safe vault for some distance. I would say the current game demands looping. If you can't hold the killer off your team will be wasting more time unhooking and healing than generator progression.

Im not a big fan, I would like to see chases be able to last a little while before the killer is right on top of you and you are forced to loop or all else 360 and pray.

  • So are we all going to ignore that on top of dominating loopers, it's almost impossible to hide, use stealth and, you have likely gone insane. You might want to snap out of it, if you get a chance.

If you stay close, you scream. If you're far away, you've been revealed by BBQ. Add Hex: Ruin and Gen progress will likely be zero.

    Oh, btw, have fun!

  • Nerfing meta perks should only be done in extreme game breaking mechanics.

I'd rather see the countless underused perks to be better. Too many perks are too specific, too hard to activate or, you spend most of the game getting little to no benefit from them.

Mettle of Man for instance. You have to earn 3 protection hits before it will even activate and you get punished by revealing your aura to the killer and you become the obsession. If you combo this with other perks you might get an extra hit out of it, if everything goes right and the stars align during a summer or winter solstice... you might take an extra hit from Mettle of Man.

  • I understand the game isnt easy at high rank, survivors can be good too and top that with a team on comms and you have another level of play.

I am getting better at looping and I will keep trying, I got no choice, lol!

    1) Yes, to me at least, playing at higher ranks as both survivor and killer is a challenge- killer being the much greater challenge!

    2) In-game voice chat could be helpful, however the devs have stated they don't want this, and I agree with them. Many people will just be trolls, out to ruin someone's say. Every match will have the obligatory 12 year old blasting music, a low-quality Xbox mic, the one player trying to do something, and the person who doesn't know how to turn their mic on. Plus, I know people who can't- or won't- voice call with people online. These people would be at a severe disadvantage than others.

    3) Killers can steamroll solo survivors, but it can also be the other way. I've had solo games where the killer made no pressure, and solo games where everyone but me dies 5 seconds into a chase. It all depends on the teammates and killer.

    4) I'd argue the game balance is good, and only getting better (right now, anyway). There was recently a large-scale map rework which addressed many common gripes with the maps. Some things are still problematic (like the size of Mothers Dwelling, Yamaoka's existence, Cowshed having 2 windows open, spirit's existence) but the game is in one of the healthiest states I've seen it for a while.

-Played since November 2017, rank 1 killer and survivor, 1.2k hours and counting.-

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to stick with the game and keep trying to hit higher rank survivor.

I had one more question, is there a difference between a group Q and solo Q? Should there be separate Q's with higher rewards for Killers who play against a group?

  • Tunneling is a valid tactic, although very frustrating if you are being tunneled. Basement hooks with only one escape and killers who can down you with one hit.

The arguments to make the killer pay by completing gens is valid especially with a coordinated group but in solo, it gets messy. At least one person always try to go for the unhook at the start. Pulling that person off the gens and burning time while they watch the killer run small loops around the hook. So generally if one is hooked at least one other is trying to unhook.

Killers using BBQ to go grab a quick hit and then return right back to try to catch the unhook. Had that happen to me every hook one game. The killer would run away and the timing was immaculate, whether I got unhooked fast or waited for someone he always seemed to be right on time to loop back and whack me again, maybe luck, idk.

The downside is a very frustrating game for one player, low points and waste, loss of items.

I've seen killers break chase from good loopers just to go grab the guy they already hooked twice because they are bad.

All is fair in love and war I guess.

  • I personally won't do it as killer. When I notice I've got the same survivor twice in a row, I'll just leave them on the ground and give them another chance.

I see Killer as more of a responsibility to host a good match. Keep the players engaged and spread the love, it all adds up to points for everyone!

  • Smaller size should mean less reach, that would just make sense.

I dropped a pallet, got 3 to 5 steps away and down I go...

Hey remember when Freddies arms grow? Was that the original Nightmare on Elm Street?
