  • Actually, I think BHVR just needs to offer in game comms. It's time to put everyone on the same level of play. If that ends up meaning that Killers need a little buff here and there, so be it.

  • I've always felt that scratch marks are too reliable. To the point that many Killer's won't even try to follow blood trails.

They should only be a clue, not a blazing trail straight to the survivor.

  • If you are bringing bad perks, you better be good. Some Killer's can get away with this because their base kit is so strong, most can't.

As for Survivor, I've never relied on full "second chance" build and, I feel like it has made me a better survivor.

  • If you put time and effort into any Killer as a knowledgeable player, most of your games will be easy mode.

Once you know how to play Killer well, the only challenge you have is swf teams.

Nerfing yourself by choosing low tier Killer's and quirky perks is still a challenge.

Like try playing Legion without regression perks, good luck!

There is a skill level that once you pass it, you will sweep up 85% of any match with a strong Killer.

Blight is a strong Killer, so have fun.

Why are you trying to use it to try and dodge hits?

Dead hard will always bail you out if you use it correctly, which is to make distance/get to a pallet or window. You dead hard to a pallet and instantly drop it.

In a perfect world yes, you DH for distance and make a pallet or vault but, it doesn't always line up. Especially against rushing killers like Nurse, Spirit, Blight, ect.

As I said, just watch any decent Killers, you will see all kinds of Dead Hards into nothing and just go down.

  • It CAN be a problem.

The Killer is at his weakest starting the game. To spawn each survivor separate and near a gen is very bad RNG. BHVR should be looking at this and how to stop it.

I'm not sure how often spawns happen like this but, as survivor, I almost always spawn next to a gen.

  • The OP over simplifies.

All you have to do is watch a decent Killer stream and you will see plenty of Dead Hards that lead to absolutely nothing.

The perk can save you about 50% of the time if you are good and, it actually works. I've hit DH many times, receive the exhaustion and still get hit.

  • PC is the superior machine. We also have customization options Console doesn't have like, Lowering graphical settings for increased performance and easy visuals.

Lag on the other hand effects everyone.

  • I'm something of an artist. When I was young, I loved Rainbows, still do. Anything to do with colors. I was super OCD about my crayons being in the right order from Hot to Cool colors, ect. I was young and cute. I used to wear a shirt that had a Rainbow and two clouds on it. I think it was actually a Carebear symbol. Well, long story short, everyone thought I was gay by middle school. I don't wear Rainbows anymore.

  • The mindset of sweating about the 4K is the real problem here. You don't like playing the way you need to play to secure the 4K but, you desperately want the 4K anyway...

  • My advice, don't play for Pips.

Seriously, you need to find another goal or objective to have fun in this game. Focus on your challenges and Rifts and forget about Rank, forget about winning and just play to have fun. You will get tunneled and or camped once in a while. I just find something else to do, like watch funny memes and wait to die.

  • In most games "wall hacks" are called cheats.

In DBD, you are told to "git gud"

  • I enjoy survivor and like to play with my friends.

Killer is too sweaty, I play enough to complete Rift challenges and, I don't care if they all escape.

  • I agree mostly. I think tier 3 and leaping is a bit too far but, a nice rush speed and auto breakthrough pallets and doors was a missed opportunity.

Not surprising, though. Survivors wanna run run run so Killers need to be able to keep up or they just lose. Killers who can win by having a way to prevent the Shift + W strategy by some other means (Deathslinger says hi) are widely hated as 'no skill' killers. Survivors dislike anything that prevents them from winning every game by doing literally nothing. They made the game the way it is; we just gotta live with it.

Well, of course Survivors are going to run away. As long as the Killers base Speed is higher and, with Blood lust mechanics, you should be able to catch any survivor without moving 150%.

It gives Survivors a small chance in every chase to find something to save them, that chance decreases as pallets are used, people die, ect.

Of course the Killer needs to have an edge, a trick, ect. and, I really don't mind "losing". I play matches every day that are good matches, I had fun and, died. Particular Killers and builds become Meta. Killers run them because they "win". So who is all uptight about winning?

  • He's not very powerful. Mostly I'm getting lucky with zombies body blocking.

  • New content in the form of Killers and Perks keeps people coming back, paying and retaining players.

Now if BHVR were able to communicate skipping a chapter schedule to work on optimization. I could be convinced to pay for Rift goodies, which I normally don't do.

  • Saving another survivor with a Flashlight, pallet stun, Sabotage or, Breakout is the most fun thing to do in DBD.

  • "I used yellow add-ons and no perks."

Yeah, this happens all the time in Solo que...

  • There is no real counter play. If you are full SWF sweat squad, dropping every pallet for a one minute chase might pay off but, more likely, you just killed everyone. But hey, it's Spirit so, they were all going to die anyway.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

Its not him specifically. There are a lot of pallets that pretty much unsafe and you will get hit even attempting to use one. All pallets should be at least medium. Hell, even Pig can crouch and dash you easily for a hit at small ones. Im looking at you Hawkins and that stupid small rock loop on Ormonds outside. Why put a pallet where a killer can stand on either side and always hit you as soon as that pallet drops?

I think that in perfect internet world, these pallets are a lot safer. Sometimes my ping is so bad, I can't get away with anything. I get janky results from trying to throw pallets or vault a windows.

I've thrown pallets, stun the Killer and, still get hit.

  • Holding the game hostage is the only thing I won't accept and, will report you for unsportsmanlike conduct.

End game chat can be toggled off so, I wouldn't waste your breathe on arguing with people, if it upsets you.

  • When he gets a 150% speed mobility buff, everyone will play him.

  • Running all four is sweaty. This is mirrored by Killer regression Meta, sweaty.

Welcome to Red ranks, I hope you enjoy your stay.

  • My only fear is that DBD is pushing more and more fast mobility. Look at Wraith now, he go ZOOM and, you can't see him until he's on top of you. Spirit ZOOMS, Nurse ignores everything, Tinkerer on Freddy is just dumb.

All of the S tier Killers are really mobile, to the point that other Killers seem weak by not being able to do that.

Demo's mobility is balanced by set-up and can be sabotaged by Survivors, Hag as well.

  • The Twins are good, you just have to know how to use them. You can body block with Cheryl, and use victor to hunt down.

Victor doesn't have a terror radius, you can hear him growling but, it's too late. You can't loop Victor traditionally and a good Killer won't try risky jumps, they will just run on top of you for the hit. As Survivor, chases with Victor aren't much fun.

Once the Survivors are injured it's GG. It takes some practice but a decent killer who runs reveal perks accustomed to slugging can be very effective with Twins.

I remember when this Killer released. I didn't like the look, the concept, basically everything. I accepted Trickster more willingly.

  • Reduce items in the blood web and increase perks. Promote finding items in the match and reduce the grind for perks.

  • @TGB said:

    Yeah. So... what uhh...

What determines the win, if it's not points OR pips???

(Don't say something lame like, "Having fun!")

Well, a game with low BP's is considered kinda a loss to me, as often this translates to, I got tunneled or something. I don't care about Pips, I'd give them away if I could. Completing challenges and rituals is nice and, it breaks me from the Meta as, I will focus my entire build.

If I'm playing Breakout / Sabotage for example, saving another survivor always feels like a win.

  • Tinkerer is just a good Perk. Amazing on some Killers but, generally good for all. You have to prioritize the gen patrol though, in combo with regression Perk.

If your Killer / Build are focused on slugging, you generally wouldn't use Tinkerer as, you are better off using Perks to reveal and help secure quick kills in chase.

  • There just isn't a whole lot of "play" with Wraith. You can't see him and no terror radius so, even if you do catch his shimmer, he's already on top of you. Then it's straight into chase which you will likely lose.

The only fun part about facing a Wraith is trying to lightburn him but, he's just going to catch back up to you anyway.

  • Wall hacks in nearly any other game is called a cheat and, that's how many people feel when they try to play and can't seem to hide, cheated. It's natural for new players to try to hide and they get creamed.

Reveals are a part of this game, a notification on Reveal is a fair trade, I think.

  • I'm guessing you play PC only? 80% of my matches end with nothing said at all. And you could just turn off chat altogether and play however you like.

  • Too many variables in matchmaking.

If we are talking a full skilled SWF, they probably take the cake. Very few Killers can keep up with the gen rush and end chases quickly.

Solo is a whole other story.

I personally like to play with my friends. Only problem is... my friends are bad, lol! 🤣

Too many variables but, an experienced Killer will wreck most teams.

    1. Lock the graphical settings and make the maps darker. Being able to reduce the graphical settings and brighten the game is not only unfair to console players, it breaks atmosphere and immersion. The maps should be dark and spooky. This is a horror themed game. You attract horror fans.
    2. Generators should effect more map interactions when completed. They should light up the areas considerably, turning on hallway lights and house lights, ect. They should unlock and open new areas. So as the game progresses, my "dark map" idea becomes brighter as more gens are completed.
    3. Expand the boiled down gameplay. The games have gotten ridiculously fast. The Killers feel rushed and resort to Metas to rush the Survivors. The survivors counter the fast rush with "second chance Perks". The early game should occupy the Survivors with something to do like, find generator parts before they can begin to fix one. And the Killer Should have some early game set-up and or travel to start looking for survivors. Trapper, Hag, Demo all have early game set up but most don't.
    4. Make most items found in game. Rummaging for a flashlight, medkit, toolbox, key, map, ect., Should mostly be done in the match, This would occupy a bit of Survivor time and, provide some randomness and unpredictability. This would make chest Perks much more valuable. Yes, you can escape with items and possibly still get them from Web but, that should be significantly reduced to promote in game searching.
    5. Make maps bigger and or increase gen times. The biggest gripe you will see in the community is basically feeling rushed, tunneled and camped. The game play has boiled down too far, reduced to meta rush and counters.
    6. Transparency in mechanics. The game is a literal nightmare for new and casual players. With an ever growing list of Perks, Add-ons and Killer base kits. I really can't explain how BBQ works to one more person. I use BBQ as an example because every friend I've ever invited to play this game. I have to explain what BBQ does and, remind them to anticipate it. I suggested that Survivors should scream when affected by BBQ instead of a hidden hard reveal. This tells players, even if they are brand new, that something just happened and they've been revealed, it also has the added benefit of interrupting actions so, a little trade off for the Killer.
    7. Weapons and stuns. In every horror movie, at some point, the Survivors fight back against the Killer. Weapons should be one time stuns and they can only be found in game. How many spawn is random, along with the other items.
  • @Yords said:

Gonna have to disagree with that. He is still just Wraith, he is still countered the same ways as before. He is definitely still easily beaten by healing up when you can, proper positioning, using pallets, and decently strong windows.

I have been playing Wraith lately especially after his buffs, and there are games where I really struggled to secure a 4k because the survivors played very well.

Awww, look guys. He even struggled in one game to get the 4k...

This is the problem, the game should be balanced around two kills and two escapes, that's even, that's a draw.

Killers are so obsessed to get 4k, that BHVR basically needs to buff every Killer into Meta land or people will cry and won't play him.

  • I use Mettle of Man in it's current state with Breakout / Sabotage / Dead Hard. I can say from experience that, Mettle of Man's 3 Protection Hits does not encourage regular game play and, I only get the proc if I manage to stay alive while playing a very risky build so... not so much.

Flip flop is probably fine too, you can do some cool things paired with Unbreakable / Tenacity / Power Struggle. The problem is, you can't really rely on being slugged and left on the ground.

Buckle up in it's current state in pretty much useless, I like your idea of, "Kindred of slugging". It needs a buff.

  • Often a skill gap between Red Killer / Red Survivor.

If you've committed to Killer enough to play at Red Rank, you are good. You know how to play Killer.

    Survivors on the other hand...

Pips are too easy and, they don't prioritize Chase. Being a good Survivor anymore means you need to be good in chase, looping.

The game speed has boiled down so fast that, if your team can't effectively loop the Killer, it's GG. At Red rank anyway.

  • If I'm not on death hook and the team is willing to commit the save, it can be done.

Basement is broke, there should be two stairways on opposite corners.

  • Playing without the information just sounds horrible, I'm sorry.

Given my experience with Killer's that can drop terror radius, Myers, Ghostface, Pig, yes they can jump scare you sometimes but, everyone all the time, unplayable.

The overall mechanics of this game and, the speed of the game kinda drives the horror aspect away.

I often compare to Friday the 13th. That game does a good job at setting the tone because, Jason is lethal from the beginning, the maps are big so, survivors have time to rummage for items and weapons. When Jason finds you, you have to escape or stun him with an item. The overall interactions are fun. The gameplay is longer and more interesting, finding specific items, multiple ways to escape and, even fight Jason.

If BHVR wanted to make the game less about "game mechanics" and more horror, it would need a new direction and longer gameplay.

  • My friends are all bad at the game, lol! 🤣

  • It's really quite simple.

    Start the match, play hard.

If you out class the survivors, you will know. Pull back, draw out the gameplay, even try to communicate to get challenges done, control the match and have fun.

If the survivors are good and pressuring you, continue to play hard, you can't afford to hold back if gens are popping and you have very little Kill pressure.

It's about being able to weigh the pressure. If you are wrecking a team, pull back, let everyone play, they are at your mercy. If they are challenging your skills, play hard and GG.

    Also, haters gonna hate.

  • Every interaction with the Killer has a chance end badly as Survivor. So if a survivor is able to loop you through multiple pallet stuns, that is a successful chase for the Survivor team. I don't know at what rank you are experiencing gloating about it but, newer players, who are finally learning how to run successful loops and stun the Killer kinda feels good.

If the Killer is eating multiple pallet stuns and long chases, that is contributing to the other teammates being able to do objectives, unhook and, heal. Someone needs to take the heat and, if you can run the Killer around for a couple minutes, that's a good chase for the Survivors.

  • Just because you started doing an action, doesn't mean you aren't being tunneled.

So, I get unhooked and try healing myself and here comes the Killer to come find and tunnel me. I'm not being tunneled because I tried to heal myself?

  • @MadLordJack said:

It does, if you don't like to have fun. But because most people want to have fun and don't like to do actual genrushing, it's thankfully rare that a 200 hour SWF does that.

Although they tend to predrop a lot of pallets, which is frustrating in itself.

SWF is one of those things that's a massive powerspike if you can get 3-4 people all playing the same way, not wasting time and being very co-ordinated. But, that's a rank 1 kind of thing, and the rank 7 3/4-persons I've been going against all night (who are all PC players, ######### matchmaking, I don't have "PC only" on) have been extremely chill players that I've been accidentally brutally steamrolling because I'm still stuck in the rank 1 mentality of dialling it to 10 at the beginning of the trial. Then we're 3 minutes in, someone's dead, 2 people are on the ground and I'm only just realising that only 3 gens are done.

I do not remember how to chill out.

Rank 1 / Red ranks will do that to you. I usually pip up to Red and then have a miserable time. Pipping to Red as survivor doesn't take much skill, you just have to play enough and not be horrible. If you had to actually be good, like Red Killers, I think Red rank Killers would be waiting a long time for a team to play against.

  • Seems like a silly reason to DC. Who knows though, sometimes you can have series of rough games as Survivor and just be done.

  • It's more just a funny thought I had, ironic type of thing. Like, I'm playing a game that I just want to end...

  • @Airless said:

Are you saying, that people play a video game, TO WIN? Preposterous, codswallop, insanity, ridiculous, unheard of. I refuse to believe it

The only thing to "win" is BP's and challenges for cosmetics, the extra 5k for ending the game alive is kinda nice.

  • @Yamaoka said:

The better question is how many RE players will actually stay considering how "special" the DBD community is and how little the devs care about fun in this game?

We still have the same core issues. Gen speed as killer, camping/tunneling/slugging as survivor.

I've seen interested people drop the game after a couple weeks for these reasons making DBD a game for a very specific "type" of person, only.

If it wasn't for addictions I think many long term players would have dropped the game ages ago, too.

9/10 friends don't enjoy this game for very long.

  • RE fans are likely already DBD fans as they are generally horror fans.

With the right advertisement we will probably see an influx of new player and old returning players.

I love RE, it was the first of two games I bought with my Playstation back in the day. The other game was FF7.

My biggest hope is that the devs have something game changing in mind for this 5 year anniversary. It's time to break up the race to win and the current Meta.

  • If the OP cared about how the players in his lobby felt, he wouldn't be slugging at 5 gens.

You are also Rank 1, nobody should have to explain this to you.

    Play how you want though.
