It's all completely nonsense anyway. There is no reward for increasing your MMR. There IS a reward for playing under the emblem system. So play according to the emblem system.
This is precisely why it was supposed to stay hidden, and why the dataminers are the ones who have broken the system.
Well, the part where I get facecamped and tunneled because other people are obsessed with getting kills for MMR doesn't really help me out, unfortunately.
-
The devs need to update the SBMM system to not judge kills as the only criteria. Once this was known, the amount of facecamping and hard tunneling I've experienced has gone through the roof to the point where it occurs in around 50% of my survivor matches. We've got an emblem system that, while it has its issues, doesn't explicitly reward facecamping and tunneling.
-
Got to agree to revamp or remove SBMM. In the current state where kills are the only thing that matters, there's a killer camping and tunneling in at least 50% of my survivor matches.
-
The "eventually" shouldn't be after like 30-40 games for 10 unhooks that meet the criteria
-
Even more facecamping tonight, but a bright side in that I got the "pass 12 skill checks while in the killer's terror radius" archive challenge super easy since it counts hook struggle state skill checks when you're getting facecamped.
-
Yep, probably still want to revisit this, as it's been facecamp and tunnel city for me while playing survivor since SBMM has gone live.
-
Welcome to the club! Now you just have to dread getting adept with each new killer like the rest of us to re-100% each DLC release. :P

The labyrinth? Raccoon City already has a map. 😎
Beat me to the RPD joke.
-
I didn't quite match up with your experience, but I do agree with SBMM seeming to have no rhyme or reason to it. My best killers are the ones that get the easiest survivors to go against while my worst killers somehow have the most sweat drenched SWF squads as opponents. Either way, it's annoying as hell and doesn't appear to be changing at all despite playing a ton of matches.
-
I've yet to play one close game on RPD, it's just a stomp for one side or the other based upon which killer it is. Definitely needs to be redone for playability instead of making it canonically match up with the actual RE map.
-
Same experience here with SBMM being uneven as hell. On certain killers, I can pretty much guarantee a 4K every game while on others, I get the most sweat drenched SWF depip squads around. And there's no reason as to why SBMM does that per killer, as I get the hardest survivors on my worst killers but the more potato squads on my best killers.
On survivor, it's just wall to wall disconnects by teammates leading to a loss, a killer facecamping from the first hook, a super killer that's 4King at 5 gens each time, or in 1 out of ten games, a stomp by our survivor team.
On either side, there's none of this "2 kills, 2 escapes" goal the devs were aiming for. It's just a stomp either way.
-
Going to chime in as well that you should either have to get a Merciless Killer or a 4K, which is how it used to be before BHVR got rid of the 4K option for no apparent reason. Also, having to be drenched in sweat for hours on end trying to get it at red ranks is aggravating to no end. I dread how they're somehow going to make it worse for the next killer when SBMM is permanently live.
-
I despise this map with all my being as both killer and survivor. It's either a 100% stomp on either the killer's side or the survivors' side, nothing ever inbetween.
-
And not only is the challenge dumb, it's bugged too, apparently! I was just in a match and had two survivors escape before me, then I escaped and got no progress towards the challenge.
-
Yes, even as a wraith using the iri bell to be silent, I'd be right up behind a survivor, mid grab animation, then suddenly they'd be halfway across the map.
-
Had to suffer through 12-15 games of M1 trickster at rank 1 to get adept due to this, including about half a dozen 4ks that weren't merciless. The devs really need to just make adept require a 4k or at least don't penalize for people suiciding on the hook or disconnecting.
-
This is the second killer in a row that came out with a bug where you couldn't use your power if you wanted to get adept. At this point I'm just waiting for the chaser emblem to be fixed before I even play this killer. Barring bugs, the answer to any killer adept is to derank enough that you get potato survivors (plus the lack of a need for quad iri emblems).
-
They had similar issues with the Twins. As usual, if you want an early adept, you need to play without the killer's power.
-
I'm at 100% achievements now, but the worst achievements on my path to 100% were:
- Taking One For The Team - Just a tedious grind of hook diving with BT so I wouldn't be a total jerk
- Evil Incarnate - Took me about 20-25 tries before I managed to get this. I would usually get rushed before I could get to tier 3 or locker jerked to prevent me from getting this before I finally managed to get it done.
- Any Adept Killer - I've always got to be drenched in sweat at red ranks to try and luck into the perfect group of potato survivors that hate doing gens but love rescuing from the hook whenever a new killer comes out to get their adept.
- Where Did They Go? - Took me spamming keys and trying to get other randos to help me out for a few dozen games, finally got it in a game where the hatch was bugged for me, but I was able to drop my key and another survivor was able to open it and we were able to get out. Achievements that rely on other players to do complex things are always the worst achievements in games. It got to be so bad going for this achievement that I had dreams about getting it done only to wake up sad that I still had to suffer through it.
- Skilled Huntress - I resorted to camping hooks from a distance with iri hatchets and waiting for the unhook to release my throw to get the down. God help the poor console players that have to get 100 of these.
- Left For Dead - I got this back in the day when someone disconnecting from a match during it loading didn't cancel the game, so I loaded into a game as the only survivor and the killer took pity on me and let me repair the two gens and leave. Hilariously, I would have gotten this also last night when I finished the last gen just after the killer sacrificed the other remaining survivor. The killer found me at the door, but let me go. So yeah, this achievement usually requires pity on the part of the killer.
-
I had to use Charlotte only as an M1 killer (never using Victor at all) to get Adept Twins at red rank because of this issue.

I've seen on the stream of hexy how he manage to obtain this achievement. He didn't use Victor whole match, just doing his M1 Killer thing and he manage to get 10 hooks, 4K,.. some gens are done but in the end he unlocked his Adept Twins achievement and have Merciless Victory.
Can confirm that I was able to get Adept Twins this way at Rank 1. Can't really say I was adept at the Twins, since I never used one of them to get it, but I got the achievement, so gg BHVR.
-
Unfortunately I don't see an emblem fix listed for the Twins, which is keeping some people from being able to get the Adept Twins achievement.
-
I've been advocating for this ever since the Plague update, where it changed. It used to be either a 4k or Merciless for a while after the emblem system came out, but then they changed it to be pure Merciless.

Works for me, I completed many challenges with them and got Adept as well.
Were you at red ranks and/or which emblems did you have when you got it?
-
I was the original reporter whose post got locked as "not a bug", but I am experiencing this issue as well along the same lines as the original reporter.
Conditions:
-Playing the Twins in a public match
-In red ranks, thus requiring 16 pips for a merciless victory
-Got 11 hook states (3 triple hooks and 1 double hook) with all survivors sacrificed on the hook, but only got gold devout.
-Got the other 3 emblems as iridescent
-Only could max out at 15/16 pips, and thus cannot obtain Adept Twins without deranking to a rank that grants a merciless victory with fewer than 16 pips.

Changing things just on one platform but not all is a dangerous slippery-slope I doubt the devs wish to deal with, regardless of the reasons why.
Now there'd be precedent some would point to and say "look here and here you did it before" whenever a change is brought up but not possible atm due to Sony and/or Microsoft.
The devs have consistently made changes on all platforms all at the same time. This change would rightly be viewed as splitting the playerbase in favor of some platforms, and indeed give credence to the notion "they clearly don't care as much about consoles" and the like.
The root of this problem is with restrictions by Sony and/or Microsoft. For once let's help out the devs, and direct our efforts toward those two and untie the devs' hands here.
That's why they should get around the Sony/MS achievement restrictions by changing the internal game definition of Merciless Victory, so that the achievement text stays the same, so those publishers should still be happy.
-
Adept Twins is literally impossible for red rank killers right now because there is a bug with the devout emblem, so you cannot get quad iri. BHVR should be looking to change what Merciless Victory stands for, maybe giving a double pip a different title instead. The amount of sweat I have to have to get adept at red ranks ruins the first several games of each new killer, whereas with survivor, it's nominally 3 games at most (usually 1) to get their adept.
-
Bringing this back up because I should have gotten Adept Twins last night, except that Devout emblems are currently bugged, so I could not get quad iri even though I met the textual requirements for devout (and thus, the achievement). It's ridiculous that every time a new killer comes out, I have to sweat beyond belief for several games just because I'm in red ranks in hopes of getting 4 perfect emblems (except when there's some bug with an emblem, which makes it impossible to actually get quad iri and thus, the achievement).
I even made a suggestion in the PTB forums to have them start making new killers not require a merciless victory, but apparently that was ignored with the Twins. I'd like to enjoy this game when trying to get achievements and not have to deal with toxic requirements as well as the already toxic playerbase.
Even if you're dealing with publishers like Microsoft and Sony saying you can't change the text of achievements, change Merciless Victory to be something other than tied to a double pip. You changed the requirements before without changing the text when you introduced the emblem system, you can do so again.
-
Yep, Adept Twins is impossible for me at red ranks as well because of this.
-
Yep, same here. Prevented me from getting Adept as well as I'm at red ranks. Devs should fix this and make it not require quad iri at red ranks to get adept as well.
-
Yep, this is bugged and is preventing me from getting Adept Twins as I'm at red ranks. Or, the devs could fix this and not make Adept killer achievements such a pain in the ass to get as a high rank killer.
-
@Clevite said:
It sounds nice, but the Devs have stated they are not changing the Adepts.
They said it would be unfair to those that have already accomplished these.
I'd be happy with them fixing them going forward for new adept killer achievements. I believe there's some dumb console vendor (Sony, MS) requirement around existing achievements only being able to be changed if they're no longer obtainable at all.
-
Love to be at 10/10 for this, heal ~1.25 health states of a survivor, and still not get the achievement. Not sure if this is bugged or if the devs are just as bad at listing the conditions required for an achievement as Overkill are for Payday 2.
-
I've thrown the past 5 matches trying for this and will probably have to throw another 15 more trying to chase the killer down before I get this.
-
It's bugged (I confirmed it myself) so that the survivor gets progress for being grabbed off of a totem instead of a killer. So if you want to powergrind this achievement, play survivor, go find a totem, draw the killer to you, and have them grab you off of it.
-
I was awarded this achievement last night on Steam/PC for a merciless victory where I only killed 3 (the last survivor got the hatch) while using his 3 perks, if that helps the devs debug.
-
I can confirm this, as I was getting progress for getting grabbed off totems as a survivor. Does not appear to count if they hit you to down you while cleansing the totem, but being pulled off the totem by the Deathslinger harpoon does appear to count.
-
From the way the Deathslinger achievement is worded, it looks like there were no changes to the way adept achievements are being handled. We at least got that slight Gatekeeper buff with the Ruin nerf, but I doubt that'll make much of a difference.
-
Yes, please try to prioritize modifying the killer adept achievements to require less ridiculous requirements. You either struggle through dozens of matches trying to luck into the perfect combo of over-altruistic survivors that are allergic to generators or eventually depip enough or have the rank reset grant you a slightly easier chance to get Adept by lowering the sub-pip requirements to get Merciless.
-
Can't wait to get 25 4Ks before I finally find a group of survivors that are allergic to gens and overly altruistic enough to finally get Merciless. These achievements need to count 4Ks as well as Merciless for awarding. It used to work this way, but BHVR either broke it or changed it on purpose, I'm not sure which is worse.

Here's where BHVR can set up servers:
"Amazon GameLift is currently available in the following regions: US East (N. Virginia and Ohio), US West (Oregon and N. California), Central Canada (Montreal), EU Central (Frankfurt), EU West (London and Ireland), Asia Pacific South (Mumbai), Asia Pacific Northeast (Seoul and Tokyo), Asia Pacific Southeast (Singapore and Sydney), AWS China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and South America East (São Paulo). Please refer to the AWS Global Infrastructure Region Table for the current information on product and service availability by region."
So they definitely can set up servers in Australia.

Thanks for the update, looks like it was just a potential miscommunication earlier in the thread then.

All very doable. Already got my adept Ash.
Did you have to double pip for it, or just escape?
-
Please god no, don't make survivor adepts require a double pip. It's hard enough to get a double pip as killer, much less survivor, where you're fighting other survivors for gens/gates/hexes/unhooks/heals while still escaping without being downed and getting chased enough for that emblem.
-
Merciless killer games for adept achievements in yellow/green ranks are a huge pain in the butt due to the requirement to get 15/16 emblems with the killer's own perks, some much harder than others depending upon the killer and their perks.
One of the main problems is that survivors can start working on gens right away without being blocked by Ruin/Corrupt Intervention for the vast majority of killers, so the Gatekeeper emblem is a race against time to try and find a survivor immediately and down them as fast as possible and then hope that their entire team will all stop doing gens to try and rescue that person from the hook so then you can chain hooks fast enough to keep them off of the gens.
Another of the main problems is that if you're too good or the survivors are too bad and you kill them too fast without allowing them to hook rescue, you won't get enough hooks, hits, or chases to get those emblems to iridescent to allow you to get enough emblem points for the double pip.
So, essentially, you need to run into the perfect mix of over-altruistic survivors that are terrible at surviving chases and don't do gens and allow them to hook farm each other. Good luck!
-
That achievement is awful. The last survivor either gets the hatch, DCs, or jumps in a locker/struggles off your shoulder/runs back to locker all the time. If you've got Judith's Tombstone, are tier 3, and pull someone out of a locker, it should go straight to the insta-mori animation instead of shouldering them.
-
Gotta depip down to rank 15 or so to give yourself the best chance, because then you only need 14/16 on your emblems. I got 14/16 at rank 10, but you need 15/16 at that rank to double pip, so I got robbed.
