The point still stands. I'm not doing much destroying. The comms have yet to de-potato me.

When you create your own win condition being that you consider it a win when you die and 3 others escape it sort of adds up why your escape rate would be lower. Pretty much implies that you can have low escape rate and still "win" if your team escapes meaning your likely to throw your own escape down the pan under the belief that you actually won. With this in mind I don't think quoting a low escape rate proves anything.

i think bringing up something a survivor as yourself would be bothered by something i am not.

Of course you're not bothered by ratting, you're the one doing it hahahahaha. I'm sure tunnelers are perfectly happy with their own tunneling. Using something you do that you know is considered bad form as an example of something that doesnt bother you is truly a peak moment. Which circles us back to this "I'm forced to tunnel" crap which you know quite well is bs. You do it because you want to, not because you have to. You do it because someone tbagged you at the gates once or said mean things in the chat, because you have no empathy and don't care about other people's experiences. You've said all these things before. That's exactly why tunneling is often toxic—it's used as pre-retribition against random strangers for past tilt formed from a poor ability to manage emotions in a video game. That's exactly what you're saying here:

survivors know their actions bother other people yet they still do it

"Some people act bad so I will treat everyone poorly too."

They done the PTB to try and reduce the effectiveness instead of pushing survivors to actually learn how to loop, to teach them to stop unhooking too soon in the killers face.

Why are we using baby player actions like unhooking in the killer's face as a basis of discussion?

"dont tunnel, play properly, leave me alone to do gens" "dont gen rush, do a few gens then wait for me to get a kill"

There is a huge difference between "leave me alone to do gens" (which no one has ever said in seriousness) and "please don't shove me out of the match with 5k points and ruin it for the other three survivors." The gen rush = tunneling comparsion doesn't hold water, as much as everyone so desperately tries to make them equal. Simply doing gens with no gen perks and taking the full 90s because the killer overcommitted isn't gen rushing. You're supposed to keep them off the gens and busy. This is what I mean by not learning the game.

It does show your double standards when you say it's not fun for players (being tunneled) then when people say it's not fun for players (being tagged at the gate) your attitude is very different... It becomes "I don't understand why they are bothered". Why is irrelevant, your understanding is irrelevant, facts remain, people don't like it and you seem sympathetic towards one issue but not the other. From someone that claims they have empathy, your not showing any by saying you don't understand why people are bothered.

What you are doing is basically saying "let's play chess but we can never move the king" then expecting others to willingly go along with these made up rules. You can rasionalise it all you want but you are still making up self-made rule's. If you don't understand this, there is no hope going further trying to explain what playing the game properly actually means.

lol interesting that you disregard something when it goes against your argument.

I'm disregarding it because you love bringing up stuff that has nothing to do with the topic. "Don't like getting tunneled? Well, I don't like it when survivors wear red. Guess we all have to deal with these torally equal things that absolutely align though." You constantly compare anything that exists in the game to any other random thing in the game when they're not at all equivalent or even related.

Maybe the killer is using a different account, they could have more hours than everyone but the hours shown would say only few hundred

I am a cross progression player so I understand it perfectly well. I'm taking about obvious cases, like a killer who whiffs constantly, misses their M2s, can't mind game, doesn't know what gens to patrol, but still brainlessly tunnels because some YTer told them to. You're also assuming the bad 3k hour player is playing what they main. They could be playing killer with 200 hours while the other 2.8k is in survivor.

The game is clearly designed around tunneling or it would be made reportable like griefing is, it would be hard nerfed and stopped dead

Something existing and something being part of a design aren't the same thing. If anything, the game has adjusted to tunneling because it has to, because tunneling is skewing the numbers and likely keeping low tier killers in the dumps to maintain the 60%. If everyone stopped tunneling and BHVR saw the real numbers, instead of them being obscured by cheese, they could get to the real issues.

But no, I'm sure they put all that work into those ptbs just for funsies. Let's just pretend they didn't actively try to stop tunneling but chickened out in the end. That never happened, since it doesn't fit your by-design narrative.

You only won because you had a good map" or "you only won because of your perks"

It's true though. I win a good deal of my killer matches because of these things. The game gives one side or the other stuff for free, or it's luck, with what perks you chose versus you're opponenet, or it's putting on Lightborn because you saw three flashlights in the lobby. Much of this game is chance-based amongst average players.

These are all poor excuses people come out with to justify a loss while not taking responsibility for their own actions, decisions and skill.

Yeah, taking responsibility for your actions instead of blaming teammates and opponenets is certainly a popular take in the community, present company included.

You really should stop with that argument because your made up rules have no say in what is playing properly and what isnt.

I really do love how you keep saying this as if you and I are the only people in the forum and there isn't a steady stream of posters saying the exact same things, very often to you. There's been a million arguments about this same stuff for years but no, they're my rules.

except the point was that you didnt understand why a killer is bothered by somthing you see no issue with….i think bringing up something a survivor as yourself would be bothered by something i am not. There is a similarity there, your lack of understanding doesnt change the fact that survivors know their actions bother other people yet they still do it. Like i said you dont need to understand it, you just need to know it effects others negatively….if you choose to not care about that then fair enough just say so.

The fact you admit the game has adjusted to tunneling clearly shows its part of the game design, have to or not its part of the design and they worked around it. They done the PTB to try and reduce the effectiveness instead of pushing survivors to actually learn how to loop, to teach them to stop unhooking too soon in the killers face. Once upon a time killers had no bloodlust and no entity blocker to prevent loops. introducing these anti loop measures means looping is not part of the design because they tried to nerf it? They are all part of the design.

As i have said many times, they are your rules. YOU made them up. Others may have come up with similar rules (and they have) but it doesnt change the fact that you as a player like all the other players that make up their own rules have in fact made them up. BHVR makes the rules, not you, not the players. Every time you make up a rule that is not backed by the devs it is your rule you have made up. "dont tunnel, play properly, leave me alone to do gens" "dont gen rush, do a few gens then wait for me to get a kill" These are self made rules. Like i said, you can play by whatever rules you want to invent but clearly others often wont play your way, thats why playing properly according you is a non argument when they are playing properly according to the rules BHVR sets out.

I mean personally I've never given any mind to up or down votes. They don't actually matter. I can understand why people just leave an up or down vote without commenting though as it usually feels pointless to comment. Most of the community is in their bubble of whichever side they main and they won't really consider an opposing view.

I can understand why, like i said, some people could just simply think "i dont like what you said, i have no valid logical argument against it so i will give a downvote". Makes sense to me, dont like it but cant dispute it? downvote it lol. Im tempted to see how many downvotes i can actually rack up with 1 post lol….push the limits just to see 🤣

I dont understand how someone can be so bothered by stealth play but each to their own.

No one is talking about this. Try to stay on track.

We have already been over this "grown MMR by tunneling" nonsense.

I sometimes get killers with a couple hundred hours and they immediately go for the hard tunnel. Sometimes it works for them, mostly it doesn't, but they're clearly boosted by cheese if they're oppoenents have 10x+ the hours of them.

It was only after losing match after match i started to tunnel.

And how many matches was that? Because I can manage about 5 losses before the game gives me the pity present of Team Potato who I 4k at 5gens. The survivors I get are usually better players than me and I almost never have a long streak of losses.

But like you said if these are things that bother people then maybe they shouldnt play at all….like if a killer complains about being looped….or survivors complain about being tunneled.

The maps have been designed around looping. It's what you're supposed to do with tiles. You're meant ro try to outplay one another in a setting designed for it. The game wasn't designed around tunneling. It's just something that's gotten worse and worse over the years. There'd be no basekit BT if survivors were meant to be tunneled. There wouldn't have been multiple ptbs trying to address. It doesn't make sense to design a system that's basically an autoloss for a team at what could be the first 2 minutes of a match.

Maybe go perkless with no items for a while to learn to play the game properly

You really don't understand comparsions at all. This would be the equivalent of a killer also going perkless and add-on-less, which some do because the game is already killer-sided.

so if you tell killers they are not playing the game properly by tunneling then you have massively misunderstood what the game is and what playing properly is.

If tunneling is the one and only way you know how to win then you do not understand the overall game. You've developed zero gamesense, zero map awareness, zero perditiction ability, zero control. You are are acting like a brainless bot.

lol interesting that you disregard something when it goes against your argument. The stealth comment is directly relating to your not understanding how someone can find something unfun.

I have seen survivors with over 3k hours and they have performed far worse than survivors with 500 hours that have been able to loop the killer for a long time, have they raised their MMR to where it shouldnt be too? Maybe the killer is using a different account, they could have more hours than everyone but the hours shown would say only few hundred. You should know hours do not equate to skill so its very much possible for a killer with low hours to be just as good as a survivor with a lot of hours and vice versa.

At the time i went many many matches of getting at best 1 or 2k so pretty much every match i either lost or got a draw at best. 3k or higher was very rare for a few months. Then i started tunneling and things evened out, i win some i lose some which is how the game should be. It should not be intentionally lower MMR by under performing, taking loss after loss after loss to then maybe, eventually get balance back.

The game is clearly designed around tunneling or it would be made reportable like griefing is, it would be hard nerfed and stopped dead. The game is designed around many different aspects, looping, tunneling, proxy camping, slugging, perk use, map layout, spawn points.

You are once again making assumptions based on nothing….tunneling is situational so its about knowing when to drop chase, knowing when to tunnel, who to tunnel. Just so happens many situations (usually caused by survivors) is better to tunnel than not to tunnel. Claiming a tunneler has developed no game sense, no map awareness ect is utter nonsense. They could have learnt all that prior to tunneling but still struggle to gain kills without tunneling. It sounds like those people that lose and then "git gud"….i dont think the winner needs to, the loser should "git gud" because they lost.

Iv seen it all, survivors saying things like "you only won because of tunneling" or You only won because you had a good map" or "you only won because of your perks". Then killers say "you only won because you gen rushed" or "you only won because you pre run" or "you only won because you body blocked". These are all poor excuses people come out with to justify a loss while not taking responsibility for their own actions, decisions and skill. These are part of the game, part of the design. Until that design changes, thats how it is so telling someone they are not playing properly by playing a certain way (your way) is not correct at all. You really should stop with that argument because your made up rules have no say in what is playing properly and what isnt.

True but the option exists. Plus given the fit the OP threw when they started getting down voted can you really blame people for not wanting to engage with that?

true the option exists so people will do it which is why the many many downvotes i often get makes no difference to me. But im still under the opinion that downvotes offer nothing to a thread in a discussions forum. Not much i can do about other people, just have to say my bit and leave the downvoters to their own little bubble if they dont want to partake in the discussions.

I will never understand this tbagging excuse. I can't imagine a grown adult being mad enough about rapid squats being done by a cartoony dude in leopard speedo to change how they act. It's so goofy. This is a personal attitude problem and you're taking it out on random people who've done nothing to you. And who is mad about pallet stuns? If these are genuinely bothering people they probably shouldn't be playing at all.

The game is killer-sided. I suck and I still win against players who are better survivors than I am. If you're losing all your matches, like dozens of them in a row, then you probably grew your MMR too fast by tunneling and not learning proper pressure and map control while you were in the lower ranks. Lose and fall back down to be where you belong and learn the game properly.

you dont have to understand it, all you need to know is that it bothers people….do people still still do it knowing it bothers others? yes. I dont understand how someone can be so bothered by stealth play but each to their own.

The killers that complained about the pallet increase often mentioned pallet stuns, M1 killers in particular say about pallet stuns. But like you said if these are things that bother people then maybe they shouldnt play at all….like if a killer complains about being looped….or survivors complain about being tunneled. All part of the game, dont like it? dont play as far as im concerned. Alternatively, find your own solution but complaining about what the core game is? nah. suck it up buttercup, tbag, tunnel, loop, camp, stun, gen rush….all part of the game.

We have already been over this "grown MMR by tunneling" nonsense. Killers like myself didnt tunnel at all. It was only after losing match after match i started to tunnel. Now how can tunneling inflate my MMR beyond what it should be if i didnt tunnel to begin with?

You telling a killer to intentionally refuse to use the tools and tactics available to them so they can learn to play "properly" is no different to saying survivors that rely on certain perks or SWF or whatever they need to rely on to win. "dont use sprint burst, take the loss and get your MMR down to a level that you can win without it and play properly. Maybe go perkless with no items for a while to learn to play the game properly. Fact is like it or not, tunneling remains a legitimate tactic and is not reportable, not griefing, not cheating, so if you tell killers they are not playing the game properly by tunneling then you have massively misunderstood what the game is and what playing properly is.

    Not everyone is selfish.

Not everyone gains happiness solely from winning.

You do not have to tunnel to win.

not everyone but a lot are….i would say majority based on how many killers tunnel and genuinely dont care if others have fun or not, the amount of survivors that tbag the killer at the gates knowing the killer wont have fun hitting them out or when killers get repeatedly hit in the face with pallet after pallet….not many killers are thinking "yay this is fun" but do people care? no, because they are playing for their own fun not the killers fun.

You might not have to tunnel to win but you are not everyone. some might have to tunnel to win. someone losing match after match without tunneling….you going to say "you dont have to tunnel to win"? Maybe they do, you cant say they dont if they end up losing when they dont tunnel but win when they do. Like me saying you dont have to loop, i dont, maybe you do?

It's not just that the wording is inaccurate, it's the classic "I'm the real victim because I have to tunnel 😢😢😢" implication. Meanwhile, you're making four other people unhappy with your choice. And that's what it is, it's 100% a choice. It's offensive to do something that is known to be disliked and then act like your hands were tied.

But when the choice is make 4 people unhappy by tunneling or make yourself unhappy by getting tbagged and lose then is it really a choice? Maybe "no choice" isnt the right word, maybe "no brainer" is a better way to put it because its pretty much a no brainer….option A being to tunnel and happy while potentially making 4 others unhappy or option B being to not tunnel make 4 others happy and make yourself unhappy. I dont think many people are thinking "im going to play dbd to entertain others and provide enjoyment at the expense of my own" they are playing for their own entertainment and enjoyment and if they dont enjoy losing and the only way they can win is to tunnel then it can be seen that they dont have a choice if they want to enjoy the game, they do actually have to tunnel to get enjoyment out of it.

So you shouldn't be allowed to down vote something without writing an explanation? In what world does that make sense? Should you be allowed to upvote without comment?

The difference is when someone agrees with another person its usually self explanatory. "yes i agree with you" no further explanation is required, people dont ask "why do you agree with me?". But when someone disagrees, its natural to ask "why do you not agree?". This promotes a discussion where both can discuss their points, both can learn and be enlightened by that discussion. To simply downvote implying they dont agree without explaining why is….odd.

Person A "i dont like what you just said"

Person B "ok, why dont you like it, what about it dont you like?"

Person A "im not telling you and i dont have to"

Good discussion there, truly belongs in the general discussions part of the forums lol.

  • @cogsturning said:

It's probably the "no choice" that's getting you the downvotes. You always have a choice. Plenty of people don't tunnel.

seems a little bit pernickety to me. Do people have to word things like its legal document? "killers often feel they have no choice but to tunnel as when they do not tunnel they are frequently met with a loss followed by end game celebration of the opponent."

Yes there is a choice and not all killers lose when they dont tunnel, however to simply downvote based on the wording "no choice" instead of saying something like "if i want to win i dont have much choice but to tunnel because if i dont tunnel then i dont win"

That being said, we dont even know if this is the reason for the downvotes as the downvoters are suspiciously silent and rarely explain the reason behind the downvote. It would be nice if they explained themselves.

  • @EziekelAbh said:

Killers have no choice but to tunnel 1 survivor out of the game. It's no different from IDV. If you think of spreading hooks then you're just begging for a loss.

3 survivors alive will always be better than 4 survivors alive. The devs will never incentivize for 12 hooking. It doesn't matter how many anti tunnel or anti camp features or perks they are adding to the game it's simply not worth it to keep 4 survivors alive.

exactly, its like hitting all 4 survivors once. Sure you got 4 hits in but your still in the same position of having 3 survivors working gens when chasing 1. Clearly its better land 2 hits on 1 survivor, hook them and remove them from the equation. Same applies to tunneling, get 1 eliminated asap to remove them from the equation will generally be better than spreading hooks.

It is still a 3v1, since Bots are in general quite useless. I mean, they provide Pain Res and PGTW to the Killer and if they are incredible fancy, they bodyblock other Survivors because they crouch in Loops.

But the Survivor Team has not really any advantage when there is a Bot on their team.

Depends on the situation, if gens need to be done then you can rely on a bot to actually do them which is more than what real people seem to do. In this situation, i prefer a bot.

However, dont expect a bot to save you or heal you, i have had bots literally watch someone else heal me instead of helping, just stand there and watch. In this situation, ye bots are pretty useless.

  • @ConstantCapybara said:

can we get matched with people who have around the range of playtime i have, playtime should be prioritized before mmr its depressing to get the 500th trash noob team of the day and then they all die at 5 gens and make stupid plays and leave me as the only survivor and either killer finds me or i get hatch which doesnt even increase my mmr its just a cycle of bot teammates over and over

Hours played don't mean anything. I have seen many 2k+ hour players perform far worse than a 500 hour player. This could be due to them having so many hours they just want to mess around or could be just skill level.

  • @CompetitifDBD said:

You can force them out rather than just wanting to end it immediately. Besides, maybe someone gets too cocky and accidentally gets themself killed, or the game isn't necessarily over. don't give up

This completely ignores the main issue.

    1. forcing them out does not solve the issue that killers have to undergo the tedious and futile task of hitting them out
    2. forcing them out does not prevent the killer from going through the usual tbagging ritual which is the main issue because killers feel like survivors can skip the mori but killers cant skip the tbagging unless they wait out the timer so they are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
    3. When survivors are at full health i have never known them to accidently get themselves killed when at the gates without the killer having perks such as noed.

personally i think there should be more risk for survivors that wait at the gates, like a random blocker so the survivors that remain to tbag actually risk getting killed. Pretty sure it would reduce the amount of people that intentionally wait around purely to tbag the killer (there are a lot of them). i dont see much of it in my killer matches because i try to make sure it doesnt get to that point but i do see it a lot in my survivors matches when im in spectate mode.

How is being slugged anywhere near "you can still play"? You cant do anything thats related to your objective. And thats the total opposite of your take. Even if you go again for the mods, youre completely unreasonable and there no way denying this.

being slugged is playing the game, no different to being hooked. Are we going to complain about being hooked because you cant do anything thats related to your objective?

  • @Alther_Primus said:

Honestly, allowing Killer to Abandon once a gate is open would be a massive QoL update for Killers since they wouldn't have to trudge their way to both gates or AFK in the corner. I feel like not having to deal with the absolute joke of an endgame 'phase' would help some killers chill out more.

Sadly at this point being a jerk to the killer in the gate is such a core part of the game that I'm pretty sure 80% of Survivors would uninstall overnight if they couldn't BM the guy who chose to spread hooks with a low tier killer instead of tunneling at 5 gens with Blight.

100% agree, due to the end game celebrations the killer has to endure the vast majority of the time they lose, its often best to make damn sure they dont lose….via any means. Tunneling, slugging, camping, whatever "toxic" tactic they can to make sure they avoid this end game nonsense as much as possible.

The survivors that often complain about killers tunneling at 5 gens….look at your peers that tbag at the gates, they are probably one of the reasons killers are tunneling you out asap.

There's a difference between the "right" thing and the "only" thing, which was my point. Having risk/reward in your build isn't inherently a wrong choice, but it gets treated as one for so many people. Meanwhile hexes can still spawn in plain sight of someone's camera pan while they load in and its considered perfectly acceptable. Not knowing whether you'll get value from something like a teamwork perk is not the same as claiming it is an objectively bad choice without that information, as "All Cretans are liars" and whatnot (actually learned that one here, its a great paradox for this game.)

That said, since Empathy was mentioned, curious that Kindred wasn't. Its pick rate should be higher than anything with how much this type of concern gets brought up with comparison to SWF, yet its never even in the top 10 on nightlight or official channels. It is the defacto solo queue perk, and only one out of 4 even needs to run it to get guaranteed value for at least someone on the (if not the entire) team, yet it sits low on usage lists. sure they can use STB but you wont get much value from it. is the reason, because its not about "might not" but a focus on "will not" regardless of whether that actually comes to pass or not. Its self perpetuating defeatism more than it is an objectively incorrect choice, as people don't allow room for anything other than plans to go exactly as they intend. Its such a boring way to play, and an even more frustrating one when you can't prepare for not getting optimal value from things (or even the game itself.)

    1. kindred isnt used much because people are slowly seeing soloq as not a team. Why bring a perk that helps a team thats not willing to help you? Great we can all see eachother when someone else is on the hook…. lets ignore that, leave them on the hook while we do gens. There is no value from knowing the killer is near the hook now either due to having anti camp meter visible to all which says the exact same info.
    2. look at nightlights top survivors perks, almost every single one is for the individual not the for team.
    3. Hex perks means the survivor has to waste time cleansing the totem so even if its discovered right at the start, there is still value to be had especially if combined with other hex perks.
    4. Its not always a bad choice to bring an oddball perk that you might get value from but when its a case of most cases you get no value from it and you lose then yes its a bad choice to bring a perk you MIGHT get value from instead of a perk you WILL get value from.

Just need to use logic and experience to judge what most commonly happens in matches and plan for it, not plan for the minority situations.

Bringing something like healing shouldn't be centered around "I can't bring it in case its a Plague" or "I may never be in a position where I can utilize it" but more "I'm bringing it because it can be the difference in being able to self heal or healing someone quickly if needed." There's always so much focus on the possibility of lack of value more than the potential of it, which is why everyone refuses to move away from the safest options possible. Its a self perpetuating problem because people can't deal with something not going their way or facing an unexpected scenario.

Its about using the right perk for the right role. Its like running trail of torment on a wraith….sure you could do it but you wont get much value from it. Same with survivors going into soloq, sure they can use STB but you wont get much value from it. Or SWF bringing Empathy when they can use comms. Generally its best to pick perks that best suit your role depending on if your a specific killer or solq or SWF or going for a particular challenge.

  • pc players can say in lobby chat they have it.

However, this just further reinforces the concept that SWF is a team Soloq is not. Makes sense to bring a team perk in SWF where it can be useful but bringing team saving perks into soloq where you are not an actual team and may not even have the same goals (escape, challenges, adepts, meme ect) might not be a good idea.

  • some people seem to think dbd means dodge by daylight… in my experience, i rather they dodge before the match starts because you just know if 1 little thing goes wrong in the match they will DC or go next. When people are spending more time dodging lobbies instead of playing the game i think its time they found a new game to play

I am writing to sincerely address a situation concerning my friend’s account in Dead by Daylight. In the past, he made a serious mistake by using unauthorized methods to obtain in-game items. He fully acknowledges that this was wrong and takes complete responsibility for his actions. Since then, he has stopped entirely and deeply regrets his decision.
He genuinely values the game and the community, and over time he has invested a significant amount of money in official DLC characters and content. Most importantly, he understands that fair play is essential to maintaining a healthy and competitive environment for everyone.
If possible, he is more than willing to voluntarily relinquish any items that were obtained improperly and comply with any corrective measures you deem appropriate. He respectfully asks whether there might be an opportunity for leniency, given that he has ceased all violations and is committed to playing fairly moving forward.

Because the end game collapse is alredy meant to be a timer in your favor to finnish the round faster. The only thing stopping the round from ending immediately in a situation where you know they are all ready to leave, is your refusal to go push the survivors out the gate, and their annoying habbit to wait for you to do so.

having an end solution is not a reason to justify denying killers being able to abandon when the end solution means your forced to endure end match celebration by the opposition. The last survivor can abandon mid mori…. The match is literally over yet they can skip the last 10sec to avoid the end match celebration but killers are forced to endure it because "they can push them out"? Thats not a valid reason imo

Honestly, DC penalty is a joke. Just let people DC there's nothing to gain from implementing it, absolutely nothing.

It's just the devs pretending to fix a problem that still exists.

ye we remove DC penalty and no one will play with actual people every again lol. map they dont like? DC. killer they dont like? DC. See a team mate doing a totem instead of a gen? DC. First down? DC. 2 gens pop? killer DC's. SWF style coordination? killer DC's. At that point just make it a pve game instead of pvp because people would be playing with bots more than actual players.

  • @random1543 said:

Sure if we get a killer bot and the match just doesn't end abruptly when they abandon.

Survivors would never see a exit gate open again if this was implemented without a killer dc bot or the match not just ending.

They never see the end of the match when they are about to be mori by the killer. They shouldnt have an issue with no seeing the end of the match via gates either.

Are you BHVR employee? They like use such words to their game which inclines tunneling, slugging etc. And it depends on killer, did you play Twins?

im just saying if someone is struggling and they are not tunneling then maybe try to tunnel. worked for me, repeatedly get experienced swf teams multiple times a night, i was losing a lot too until i started tunneling. Now its pretty balanced. Obviously if the killer is twins then slugging is probably the way to go but for most killers tunneling is more effective.

  • This is why P100 is not a reflection of skill, its just how many hours you sink into the game. Someone can p100 nurse having never played a single killer match in their life with any killer.

i came back after i haven't played the game for most of 2025 and honestly, the gen speed is insane. I'm experienced (4000h) and i tried many different perk setups and tactics and honestly, there just isn't a way to 4k anymore. At least not against the survivors i play against. Even if my chases go fast, it's almost impossible to prevent all 5 gens from finishing. All the band-aid perks are gone and i'm not playing Blight or Nurse, so no oppressive s-tier killers here. It's so frustrating and i think about leaving again after 1 week. Meanwhile, i've escaped in most of my solo matches (2v8 is a different story).

    1. if you havnt played most of last year you may be out of practice, it happens after a long break.

im not arguing about the 10 min time out if a gen is not complete, it is a completely different situation to the killer being able to abandon once the gates are open.

One is added to avoid the killer being basically held hostage by stealth survivors. eg. last two survivors just hiding for hatch and killer cant find them. a gen is not not being done within 10 mins in normal gameplay or everyone is going to be dead, even if they are doing glyphs and challenges. (I've seen your posts before saying you play stealth and for hatch so you should understand extreme hiding) side note 10 mins is a really long time in terms of a DBD match, my longest match in my last 20 matches was 13:05 mins

one is a end game situation the game is able to proceed you just have to wait for the end game timer, much shorter then 10 mins requirement regarding the gens. The gates are always going to be open during normal gameplay unless everyone is dead before they open

Yes survivors have more abandon options, but I guarantee you if survivors did not get replaced by bots they would have one abandon option, that being when all are downed or hooked.

I am not opposed to killers being able to abandon and have made threads with abandon ideas when they are being held hostage and ways they could let the killer abandon but continue the trial for survivors, all they need to do is add a killer dc bot, without one its not reasonable, especially in situations such as as soon as the gates are open which was the original comment I was replying too.

Im pretty sceptical that survivors would be ok with killer abandoning if there was a bot to replace the killer because the only reason they hang around is to taunt the killer. Even if a bot replaced the killer survivors would still not accept the possibility of killer abandoning as they wouldnt be able to taunt the killer at end game ever again. There will be some that say "if the killer had bots to replace them then sure let them abandon" knowing full well its unlikely that we will get killer bots.

killers only get to abandon when they are winning….if no gens are being done then the killer is doing their job and applying gen pressure to stop them from getting done. When server ends after 1 hour of being in the match, all survivors are automatically killed. The killer has a choice, keep playing a match they are winning or abandon it. Same when killer slugs everyone, they all abandon leaving bots and the killer can then abandon losing the match they have just won. Hardly any surprise killers generally dont abandon. Not only that but the killer being held hostage by hiding survivors was dealt with when they added the improved afk crows, yet killers can still abandon if they choose to.

Regardless of the reasons why the killer can abandon (held hostage or not), killers do have the choice to abandon and can instantly end the match even if survivors are doing challenges. If survivors have not done their challenge by the time the gens are done and the gates are open then its no different to if they havnt done them after no gens are done within 10min. They have the whole match to do them so its a bit of a poor reason to justify the killer not being able to abandon imo. "we know you lost killer, but you cant abandon because im not done with my challenge"….ye i dont buy it for a valid reason.

It can have a effect on gameplay if you think about it for more then a few seconds.

the post I replied too wanted the killer to abandon when the gates are open. in that case the killer can just open the gate and leave, denying any challenges or glyphs they may of wanted to do.

you can say "oh but the match is already ending" but until there is a killer bot it is not fair. legit just afk/ (which survivors cannot do or they get penalties due to afk prevention and go next)

If the situation is exactly as you laid out "ALL remaining survivors are in the exit gate" then sure give them the abandon but that's not what post I replied to was advocating for they where advocating for abandoning once the gates are powered.

Technically a killer going afk is reportable as a mod on here recently confirmed. It is reportable due to not playing the game as intended.

Like I said, the killer can abandon after no gens have been done in 10min... At that point if survivors have not done whatever challenges they were doing, tough. Survivors doing challenges is not a reasonable excuse to justify wasting the killers time and not allowing them to abandon, if it was a valid reason to deny killers the abandon situation then it wouldn't be allowed when survivors are not doing gens but instead doing challenges.

That's the issue there is no killer bot in 1v4. when the killer leaves the match just ends, if there was a killer bot in 1v4 I think most people would be ok with more abandon situations for killer.

The fact there is no bot is irrelevant, it makes no difference if the game just ends at that point. The killer can abandon and just end it when no gens are done in 10min so it can be an option even with no bot to replace the killer. It seems most people just dont want the killer to bypass the end match taunting but they are ok with survivors bypassing it when its done to them.

Also, the match just ending when the killer abandons when all survivors are at the gate waiting would have no impact on gameplay at that point, The match has been played out, no difference if the survivor walks an inch to end it or if the killer ends it….i mean survivors have no issue skipping the end of the match when they are about to be mori but they dont want the end skipped when the killer is about lose and get taunted, its an ego thing plain and simple.

  • @Vtech said:

Just give Killers the Option to Abandon when the Exit Gates are open.

That or be stricter about how soon Survivors can abandoned (IE They need to actually be 3 dead survivors.)

i would add a little delay to the last survivor being able to abandon too. maybe 10 seconds? This would allow them to abandon if the killer decides to be toxic and bleed them out intentionally or when the killer slugs for 4k but it would also allow the killer to actually hook the player not a bot. The abandon is too instant and not always necessary imo.

Or killers should have the same as what survivors currently have, a way to instantly abandon to skip the end match celebration (and avoid MMR loss like survivors can)

The other main difference with this is that killers can still obtain kills in "exit gate" situations. Especially overconfident and cocky survivors will make mistakes, or leave the exit gates entirely.

People can't tell me that they haven't gotten the right angle even once to backflip a survivor back toward the map. Because the benefit of being the "power role" is occasionally getting to be the one who dishes out the "find out" part.

I still remember a game almost 2 years ago now where I struggled as pig and just opened the doors for them. But they all stayed in to make sure Nea for her hat off before leaving. I didn't even care about securing that kill, so I just was waiting in a jungle gym nearby and they came to throw pallets and I kicked them without really committing. Until Feng made 2 mistakes, one that let me get a hit in and she dropped her flashlight because franklins. She was so unconcerned/overconfident that she turned around to get it and gave me a free down more than halfway through EGC. I turned that mistake into a 2k.

Not saying this is common, but it's certainly possible for killers. This isn't possible for slugs.

if it is not possible for slugs then how have i been able to crawl to hatch as a slug? i have even recorded a couple of these situations. The most recent was v twins, i crawled, i escaped.

  • Best bet is wait until the end of the year when the new Halloween game comes out.

MMR isn't a measurement of winning, what? I couldn't care less what happens with my MMR. If all survivors DC or abandon the killer still gets a 4k but zero MMR growth. It's just a matchmaking metric, and a damn crappy one.

I didn't say I want hatch gone, I said I want hatch escapes removed from the stat ER count, though I would like the pity prize of hatch changed in some way as well.

You're assuming that everyone who uses the abandon is doing so because of their numbers. The average casual player probably never even checks the stat page or pays attention to MMR information. Thry use it as a skip-to-scoreboard option. And again, I don't know what you gain from fake stats. The ability to lie to yourself about how well you're doing?

It's crazy to me you even think about being the last one left so much. You like to talk about how you're teammates are so very useless but if it's that common for that to happen in your matches when do you realize that you might be the problem?

Your avoiding the key point again, as someone that doesnt care about your MMR, doesnt care that every aspect of the game scores people as individuals not a team yet you still consider it a win when you die and 3 others escape? thats fair enough if you think that way, like i said i could not care about MMR too, my win is escaping via any means necessary. No amount changing the win condition to team based will change that.

If my team mates are useless in my matches, its not my problem. i solved that issue by playing the way i do. others might think my playstyle is a problem but thats their problem not mine.

Fact is, my playstyle to give the finger to my team as i walk out the gate or leave them on hook while i go for hatch or open the gate after hatch is closed is a win for me and its a win in every aspect of the game too (other than hatch an MMR).

"I just really dislike having comments disparaging personal feelings about some being blanket statements for anyone who disagrees"

If this is referring to my comment about some people being disingenuous, I can clarify that I do think people are being disingenuous when they suggest being able to crawl around to find hatch means being slugged is not a waste of someone's time.

Personally i dont find my time wasted when im slugged and i crawl out the hatch. i have managed it many times (thanks to hatch offerings). I only abandon when there is actually nothing i can do, cant get back up, cant escape via gate or hatch. As long as there is an option to escape i generally wont abandon because i dont see my time being wasted when i can still escape.

This is before the entire system was changed but okay, hatch is not a win. Interesting that you do abandon (and specifically to remove an earned loss) yet you're quick to drop you're inflated stats to show everyone how great you can do in solo. What's the point of that, exactly, when you know its rigged? They should remove hatch escapes from the stats and count abandons as deaths. Then we'll have some proper numbers and everyone can see they're ERs are like 35%. You act like you wouldn't care but something tells me you would.

This was when they changed from ranks to MMR. MMR gains/loss remains the same. i agree hatch is not a win according to MMR but neither is it a win for you when you die and 3 of your team mates escape, thats my point which you seem to ignore. You might feel its a win for the team and for the 3 that escaped yes it is, but its a loss for you. You might not feel like its a win when you escape but 3 others die but MMR says its a win. If you are considering it a win when you die and 3 others escape when MMR says you lose then why cant i consider hatch escape a win when MMR says its a draw? atleast hatch maintains MMR so will never drop but a survivor that dies when 3 others escape will drop in MMR.

Any wonder why i open the gates and walk out leaving everyone else behind when MMR says i will win if i do this? Why wouldnt i escape when im able to?

I agree hatch should be removed, i have thought that for years while i was maining killer. would save me slugging for 4k and save me the hassle of looking for 2 players hiding for the hatch. I agree abandons should count as losses, i have said this from day 1 of abandons being added. No abandon should ever count as win or null. When we dont consider them losses we get people abusing it like what killers did when they first discovered they could abandon after 10min of protecting gens which gave the win. We also have survivors abandoning to avoid a loss….if its an option people will take it and right now it is an option.

I would like to add, hatch escapes is not just what i hang on to when playing survivor. recently i have been practicing with opening the gates after hatch is closed, im not doing too bad, i could probably do better if i had sole survivor and gate escapes are a win according to MMR, not a draw.

We're discussing reasons why Survivors can abandon when they're slugged, did you forget that? I'm really confused on what your point is at this point. If you're arguing that Killers shouldn't have to waste their time, I'm pointing out that YOU are choosing to waste your time by refusing to push Survivors out.

i know that, i am explaining how survivors went from having time wasted by being slugged to having 0 time wasted due to abandon. while killer still has to waste time. Thats where the issue lies. we know why they abandon, they cant win, dont want to see the celebration and want to end it instantly with no time waste. Killers should get that option too imo but its always different when killers want a reasonable request to stop their time being wasted….they can just waste time deal with it. 1 survivor at 1 exit, 1 at another. Can killer abandon? nope, they have to hit 1 out then walk to the other gate to get the other out. hardly fair when survivors can instantly abandon.

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055916#Comment_4055916

Yes, Survivors have already lost at that point. No reason to wait until the game tells them that they've lost. That's why the abandon feature was implemented.

i think the issue is that instead of giving survivors a way to speed up the process of ending the match they lost and making them endure the celebration in some way that would be equivalent to killers hitting people out the gate and still dealing with tbags…. They get an instant abandon option. Not speed up the process but instant and avoid witnessing any celebration at the end. All while abandoning avoid any MMR loss too is a real kick in the teeth for killers when killers are told "just hit them out" instead of giving them the option to abandon instantly and avoid the celebration like survivors can and avoid MMR loss.

The argument has always been "its never over for killer" but as you have already agreed, this is not an argument due to having 0 chance of downing a healthy survivor at the gate without perks to block the exit.

The other argument is usually "there is no killer bot" so the match would just end abruptly. Not much different to how a survivor just abandons ending the match abruptly for themselves. If they dont want the killer to abandon ending it in that manner then they could just walk out the gate.

People in this community are constantly asking what others consider a win. We even just had that question on the new survey, so it's not clear-cut, but the answers tend to be a 3k or a 4k/3e or a 4e. I certainly don't feel like I won when I get hatch unless the other three went out the gates first.

Define the wincon officially as team win simply by changing the number on the stat page and see how people change what they do. Pretty sure it would quickly change people like you who care more about a number than they do the actual experience or other human beings. I'm quite sure that abymassl loss number in your stats would flip the script.

Survivor pain points are brought on by themsleves? So a killer who goes into a match intending to tunnel immediately while running Dissolution and Bamboozle to make it near impossible to loop is the survivors fault? A survivor who is downed last who gets humped for 4 minutes for no reason did it to themsleves? A survivor getting camped to death in the basement is responsible for that? What is with this tremendous resistance t o placing the responsibility for killer actions on the killer choosing to preform them?

What would that lead to? Me DCing over anything that i didnt like….because i can.

You'd previously said you don't use the abandon that much. This clashes with that. By "not much" did you mean "every single time I know I won't get hatch"?

Every match would be filled with bots and someone like you who never DC's would find themselves in matches with 3 bots very frequently.

I've said many times I don't care if other people DC. If people want to go then let them go. I'll play against 4 bots or with 3 bots. Nine times out of ten, when three people DC early, the killer is cool with that one remaining person. Might be hard for you to believe, but most people have empathy and can realize and react to an unfair situation. I've had killers throw just because of one DC, saying they didn't think it was fair.

I also love this totem challenge that you bring up everyday that literally no one is doing.

    https://youtu.be/Pz7f_WPutq8?si=34aTHjb2WCqzh8In

This is a from 4 years ago i think. Look at 25min into it and it clearly explains what a "win" is. to sum it up:

    1. Win for survivor is escape via gate
    2. hatch is null so not win or loss
    3. killer is essentially playing 4 different 1 v 1's so if they kill 1 survivor they won v that survivor.
    4. MMR loss it at its most for the first survivor out, by the time it gets to last man downed the MMR loss is greatly reduced.

Based on these facts, my playstyle is matches the way the game is scored with MMR. i do what i can to escape regardless who i leave behind, my MMR will go up due to winning the 1 v 1 v killer.

You can say you dont feel like you won if you escape when your team dies and thats fine if you want to feel that way. However you have put your own win/loss condition regarding this. In the same regard i do feel like i won when i escape via hatch and my team dies. It might be null but its my own win condition i have set. If you are going to impose your own win/loss conditions then so can i.

As for pain points brought on themselves, yes to pretty much all of what you mentioned. Like i said i dont have an issue with any of what you mentioned. Why? how? Because of the way i play and my mindset. They are no longer pain points for me. Others have the choice to play like me and avoid getting into these situations. Its a choice.

As for me abandoning, i dont abandon much because i opt for the hatch instead as i consider hatch a win. if i know i cant get the hatch then yes i abandon….better to walk away with a void match instead of a loss. With this in mind, even if it was changed to a team based scoring system i would still consider it a win if i alone escape because i refuse to let other people drag me down with them when they cant last 5sec in chase, cant stealth and dont touch gens. Im sure if i was on your team you wouldnt want me dragging you down with my style of play? same rules apply, you want to win as a team? you have to lose as a team too which will happen alot in soloq. The only way this team based scoring wouldnt cause many losses would be for SWF. Soloq would be loss after loss.

Just to clarify its not really the number im more fixated on over the actual experience of other human beings….its MY experience i put over the experience of other human beings. MY fun, MY enjoyment. am i going to ask the killer not to hook me because i dont find it fun on the hook? no. Am i going to ask survivors to play as a team? no. Am i going to ask survivors to not loop the shack because i dont find it fun as killer? no. i take ownership of my own fun and do everything in my power to make damn sure no one effects my experience (to the best of my ability because i cant do much v hackers) so others can play however they want.

If Survivors had Basekit Unbreakable, then sure, they can do that rather than abandon. But we have to operate under the assumption that no one's running the perk, until the day comes when we can see our teammates' perks during the match.

not sure how basekit unbreakable equates to this situation. basekit unbreakable would mean survivors could get up and play the match as normal and possibly win in a situation that the killer has clearly won. If we are going this road then killers should have basekit bloodwarden so they could turn a clearly lost match into a win.

There's nothing in the stat page that says "wins" so that's cool that you see it as a win but if a killer win is considered a 3k then the team has lost once that's achieved. Maybe you'll change if they ever remove hatch escapes from the stupid stat page tally.

You continue to avoid the point. Why do you want the game to stay unchanged in avoiding survivor pain points?

i actually have clear proof of what a "win" is but first, to clarify you are saying if 3 players die and 1 walks out the gate then the team lost, killer won? even if that 1 survivor escaped via the gate, they still lose?

survivor pain points are brought on by themselves, so i dont see a reason for the change. I have minimal issues with survivor role. Not only this, but i can actually see the impact of certain changes based on what i would do. For example, allowing people DC whenever they want with no penalty. What would that lead to? Me DCing over anything that i didnt like….because i can. If i can do it, others can too. If others did it, what would happen? Every match would be filled with bots and someone like you who never DC's would find themselves in matches with 3 bots very frequently. Its no good to swap 1 pain point for another.

Another example is wanting the game to be scored as a team not individually. Might sound like a good idea to resolve certain pain points. But in reality it would create another pain point where 1 player doing a totem challenge could cost the entire team the win, to be scored as a team without having a team on the same page is never going to be good.

So you don't care about improving the player experience and making the game actually feel better, you just want rules that trap people in miserable matches. What good does this do for the game? And what's the purpose, aside from sadism?

Some matches are absolutely unwinnable. One of mine from last night:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/46Y8XY7MFUAZ/screenshot-2818-29.jpeg

Think they came back from this? I don't blame anyone who DCs in a stomp like this. There's a point where it's just a waste of time. There should be something to make it feel less so. They had said there'd be rewards for those who "stuck out difficult matches" when abandon rolled out yet those rewards never came.

Hatch means you lost so the game is unwinnable if hatch is even on the table. Most killers aren't going to let hatch happen anyway. If slugging for the 4k was made unviable then that situation could change. But why would we advocate for that when we can keep things awful?

i dont see that as unwinnable… i see the hatch as win, its an escape at the very least and does not lose MMR. Hatch also gives a lot of BP, counts towards adepts and escape challenges. many killers slug for the 4k but it doesnt stop me getting the hatch. These unwinnable matches are only unwinnable if you put your own win conditions as being "majority of the team needs to escape or its a loss". There is 0 indicators that a hatch is a loss….even if based on MMR it would be a draw not a loss

Pretty much, i dont think the option should be available but if it is then yes i would take full advantage of it, even if its just to prove a point that such a thing should not exist. still want this as an option while under the belief that balance would stop people DCing knowing full well how it would be used?

  • dont need to try, im just saying what i would do if given the opportunity lol. if the game is perfectly balanced and i find a team mate thats doing totems instead of gens, or if im going against a killer that i just dont like even if they are balanced…..i would still DC if i had the option available and had no penalty. If i go into a match with the goal of doing a blind challenge and i find the killer has lightborn, i would DC if given the option no matter how balanced the game is. If i come across a friendly killer thats meming around i would quite likely DC if given the ability to do so without penalty.
