You have to love that every single time a thread like this starts, people get really upset over DCs but think the game being in a massively unbalanced and broken state is fine.

balance is irrelevant when discussing DC's. it can be the most balanced game in the world but if someone doesnt like a particular killer or map or they mess up big time and know they fumbled it or they find a team mate doing totems instead of gens, or a team mate didnt last long in the first chase then people will DC if given the opportunity.

Yeah, they wouldn't be happy about it, and there'd be nothing they can do. Killers, on the other hand, can do something about Survivors at the exit gate. They just refuse to use the option available to them.

i feel your not getting the point.

killers have a choice…..slow dragged out end (wait for timer to expire) but avoid the celebration at the gates OR speed the process up by pushing them out while enduring the celebration.

You already agree if survivors were put in this position they wouldnt be happy about it. They would have the choice….slow dragged out end (wait for timer to expire) but avoid the mori OR speed the process up by activating mori and endure the celebration.

IF survivors had this choice, would your response be survivors have the option to do something about it? just activate the mori, deal with the celebration and end it?

bottom line is, for killers, there is no option available to them to end a lost match quickly without enduring the survivors celebration at the gates. saying just push them out would be the same as telling a survivor just activate a self mori. its making them endure a celebration they dont want to see in order to end it faster.

I doubt we want the same thing. I want in-game comebacks for survivors instead of bandaids. You don't get rid of quitter mentality with an unwinnable match.

Also, this is quitter mentality as well:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3M57OTC661IB/screenshot-20260212-142145.jpg

it might be quitter mentality, i agree. How that mentality is stopped? in my case its stopped by having the option denied. As i stated, i dont DC as killer at the moment because the option is denied due to penalties.

Before the abandon, how many people DC'd at the end of the match when they were downed? very few compared to how many abandon in this situation, why? opportunity and lack of penalty.

An unwinnable match is pretty subjective. The whole point to the hatch is to give survivors a reason to never give up so there is always an escape option even when things look bleak at the start.

I'm sure many would be willing to start their own mori to get out of the match faster. After all, they were willing to give up on hook while they had that option.

they would IF they had to…. but they wouldnt like it. They currently skip the mori now, last down, instant abandon. If we changed this so players had to watch the mori instead of instant abandon im willing to bet a lot of people would not be happy because they dont want to see the winner celebration at the end.

  • most likely, but the whys is irrelevant, we want the same things….abandon feature removed and an end to quitter mentality.

No, you don't HAVE to stand there and watch Survivors teabag at the exit gates.

Survivors have the option to abandon.

Killers have the option to hit Survivors out at the exit gates.

Nothing is FORCING you to stand there and watch. If you refuse to use the option available to you, that's on you.

the process of hitting them out the gate involves walking up to them while they are tbagging, killer hits 1….they do a few more tbags then walk away. Another survivor is there too….repeat the same process. So in order to get them out so less time is wasted the killer has to go through tbags.

The killer has a choice, push them out and endure the tbags. or wait out the timer in the corner of the map. either choice is not a good one for the killer, thats the point.

The survivor equivalent would be something like, if the downed survivor had a choice of waiting out the timer or starting their own mori to end it quicker. However this is not the case, survivors can instantly abandon without any downsides. They maintain MMR, they maintain BP, they skip the "victory celebration" of the mori.

  • 2 v 8 ran its course for me long ago, it was good but each time they bring it back it gets less and less appealing to me. Not even the event rewards are enough incentive to make me want to play 2 v 8.

Currently as killer im not interested in the mode at all.

Currently as survivor, i might play occasionally to get some challenges done which can be much easier to do in 2 v 8, but other than that, i have no intention of playing the mode at all.

It's not a popular opinon (for some reason) but I agree. I loathe the abandon feature. I basically never use it and don't understand how people are so apt to leap at the chance to leave mid-match. To me, it's the laziest possible way to not deal with issues or have in-game solutions, and just have people delete the match from their record instead. It's truly embarassing that this is where we're at.

I had this one match with a pair of flashlight users that refused to stop going for saves even when injured. I slugged them a couple times because I was actively trying not to tunnel them. The abandon came up and they both left with 5 gens up and only a couple hook stats across the team. The game essentially let them leave at the beginning.

And people are actually asking for more abandon options.

we are on a roll lol another thing we agree on. Give them the option to abandon/dc/go next and they will indeed do it.

so when survivors are slugged or hooked, they have lost but any time before that they can make a comeback. the only difference between killer and survivor in these situations is that survivors can now abandon instantly but the killer has to have their time wasted by actually hitting them out the gate.

The only difference is killer takes away player agency. This is fact. A perk that may or may not be in play doesn't change this. Survivors can do nothing on the ground. Abandon makes sense, as killers like to literally let all of them bleedout. This wastes both killer and survivor time. They might have a perk to get up? Maybe. Maybe not. Would not be a good idea to let the killer depict if time will be wasted or not, because it simply will.

The killer, on the other hand, does still have agency. Nothing a survivor can do will put the killer at a point of no player agency. (At least I havent seen this anywhere? Anyone can chme in here if there's any!) You can push us out, meme, get upset, whatever you want! You still have that freedom, so yeah, abandon doesn't make real sense.

Unrelated but related: If survivors DC, a bot takes over. Would a bot killer work in dbd? Nope. Does a killer chase all 4 bots if a team DC's? Im sure some do, but I'd wager thats abysmally low. A killer isnt going to kill 4 bots, they will abandon/dc. Same will go for a killer bot. One team of humans will not go against a full team of bots.

Personally i think killers should be able to abandon instantly like survivors can OR survivors should have a cool down before they can abandon so it equates to a similar time waste that killers have to endure.

Personally, I wish you'd get your facts straight instead of spreading this tar everywhere. Yes, I chose tar because… I really dont know. Tar! 'Abandon instantly like survivors.' There is no instant abandon. It is when the game says all the metrics to have an abandon open up has happened. If you disagree with this, please, in very fine detail, make it clear. I see no way this can be not agreed upon, but I could be enlightened!

Survivors didnt like their time wasted in a lost match and they were very vocal about it and they now have the abandon. Im not surprised killers are now thinking "hang on, my time is being wasted too".

Me neither. One side can't take a piss without the other side wanting a piece of the action. Its one of the most petty, toddler like stands people take in this game, and iits just a foolish mindset imo

    My facts are correct.

    1. When all survivors are down they all can abandon instantly with no delay.
    2. When all survivors are at the gate, killer can't abandon without delay, they have to waste time.
    3. A slugger survivor can crawl to hatch (I have done this many times).
    4. The abandon option is an instant abandon when all 4 are down, regardless if players can get back up or not. There is no time waste.
    5. Killer still gets their time wasted due to the actions of survivors, agency is irrelevant. It's still time wasted which is the point.

also many killers, most i would say will kill the bots because if they don't they lose a match they have clearly won if they choose to abandon. What killer wants to lose after they slugged the whole the team?

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055601#Comment_4055601

At that point, you have lost, sure. But anytime before that, Killers can make a comeback. Or if nothing else, push them out instead of crying about being "forced" to stick around for teabags.

so when survivors are slugged or hooked, they have lost but any time before that they can make a comeback. the only difference between killer and survivor in these situations is that survivors can now abandon instantly but the killer has to have their time wasted by actually hitting them out the gate.

Personally i think killers should be able to abandon instantly like survivors can OR survivors should have a cool down before they can abandon so it equates to a similar time waste that killers have to endure.

The difference is that the Survivor possibilities require perks, while Killer possibilities don't.

can show me how a killer can kill a survivor at full health when they are an inch away from the exit without perks?

  • @SkeletalElite said:

I wonder if MMR makes DCs more common at high MMRs. Players who DC typically do so either 1) a bad start to a match or 2) they're playing against a killer they don't like.

In either case the likelyhood of escaping those matches is probably lower than the likelyhood of escape in the matches where they don't DC, and I believe DCs "cancel" the match as far as your MMR is concerned (it is unchanged.) In essense this means players who DC in unfavorable matches could effectively have higher MMR on average than players who tough out every match no matter what.

The abandon doesnt help this situation either as abandoning also does not effect MMR. how many survivors abandon to avoid seeing a mori? how many abandon when the killer slugs for 4k, the second both players are down, both abandon. And the abandon is free.

Yes I can totally still win when all four survivors are at the exit gates.

    So Foolish of me!

Hey you know what 4 survivors being down ISN'T a clear loss!

Someone might have Unbroken, or No Mither.

    Hell SOMEONE MIGHT self unhook.

So they too should be forced to play out these possiblities.

one can crawl to the hatch too….

It's pretty obvious that there are players who are using software to identify killer players before they ready up. This is really annoying to encounter. When these type of players don't use in game cheats, they're undetectable.

Something should be done about this. Maybe make it so if you dodge 3 lobbies you get a 5m penalty or something.

yes many people do and they openly admit it in lobbies. lots of times i have been in a lobby and a random survivor has said what the killer is and who the actual player is too. when i ask how they know they say they have a q program that tells them how long the q time is, who the killer is and who is in the lobby including the killer player and specific killer they are playing as.

If a new player comes to DBD directly from a gaming background of games like Among us, should they be punished in game for such behavior? I mean, DBD itself states survivors can be unreliable at best. Still, going from Among us to DBD does make it make a little more sense. Not advocating for it, but it makes sense. If you were doing this and NOT new, or ratting, then you should move along to the next game, imo. Thoughts?

My thoughts are, each to their own lol. New or not, people can play the game how they want. That's the good thing about dbd.... Multiple way of playing. Players can stealth, loop, join SWF, go solo, save the team, leave them to die.

  • @TicTac said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055367#Comment_4055367

I didnt think i needed to explain the "sun is hot"-fact, but fair i shouldnt judge capabilities.

In simpler understandable terms: DBD is not Among Us or any other traitor-game. One obvious fact: there are no hidden roles.

The fact a survivor can have a hidden objective which goes against others players objectives says there could be a hidden role. An example would be, 3 survivors trying to do gens and escape whole 1 survivor has a totem challenge. Doing all totems does nothing for the "team" goal of escaping. Another example would be someone doing a hatch challenge, how to get hatch to spawn? When all other players are dead or already escaped... We all know survivors refuse to just leave when they open the gates they will wait out the timer if they can so dead team mates is often only way to get the hatch.

A survivor with a personal goal/challenge that is not known to the rest of the team and actually hinders the rest of the team sounds a lot like Among Us.

  • Interesting way to say "I can't think of anything specific in the game that suggests dbd is one of the "normal" games lol.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/463642/how-to-counter-tunneling

by running full anti-tunnel or having 2000 hours as survivor.

im just saying killer dont need this much just to tunnel BASEKIT

kinda do if the killer wants to win….tunneling basekit means nothing if the survivors can loop or stealth. bit like how survivors can gen rush at basekit

  • @NekoTorvic said:

Keep in mind the survivor side is a team side. If you get tunneled but your team gets gens done and escapes because of this, you did what you had to do! If you're good at looping and chasing you will waste a lot of the killer's time. Use anti tunnel if you think it's necessary. If you team protects you try to disappear if possible. If not, they should just pump out gens.

It is unfortunate that the game does not reward survivors as a team enough. No survivor that runs the killer for 4 gens and allows their team to escape should be getting penalized by having low BP at the end. They essentially won their team the game.

a team? where does it say a team? It might be a team if your in SWF but solo is far from a team. At best soloq is 4 random players with a common goal to escape, nowhere does it say you are all a team and the majority of the team needs to escape to get a win. You can work as a team if you choose to, its certainly an option. But there is nothing to say players have to work as a team to escape therefore playing for yourself is also an option.

  • @AssortedSorting said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055227#Comment_4055227

Tunneling is one of the easiest things to do in the game as Killer, and most effective:

    • Killer knows where they hooked the survivor
    • Killer feels a sense of attachment/milestone with the hooked survivor
    • If Killer roams and searches, and survivors hide (typical in lower MMR lobbies), the unhook notification gives an indication to them that there's a survivor over there
    • A lot of newer players just heal under hook instead of running away initially (even then that leaves scratch marks, which are likely unsuppressed given a lack of perk availibility.
    • You can proxy the hook and catch rescuers as Killer, giving you another route to patrol for finding survivors
    • The Unhooked survivor typically is down a health state, and unless the other survivors bring hook/healing related perks, that can last a while
    • You know where the unhook happened and where that now closer to death survivor is.
    • Getting one person out opportunely shrinks the pool of available survivors for the Chased/Hooked/Rescuing/Repairing cycle, giving the Killer a lot of leverage.

Killers are more than likely going to start out tunneling at low MMR's. But it's also a strategy that persists in high MMR as one of the best strategies if you're not sacrificing gen pressure (hence the at a distance slowdown/regression meta of Pain res/DMS)

Am I prepairing them to get into that mindset/grindset for how to deal with tunneling? No, and that is something you can point out as a problem.

But this is a problem they are going to have to face anyway, because it's what all Killers will by trying to do, as efficiently as possible, with the current game mechanics. There is no reliable way to counter tunneling, you're either dealing with someone that doesn't need to tunnel, tunneling is going to be happening, or it's a SWF stomp. That's about what I've been experiencing that last few months in my SWF. And woe be those in non-SWF.

im not disputing that advantages to tunneling, im saying new players that dont have to deal with tunneling wont know how to counter it, wont know how to loop very well or not not know stealth very well due to killers letting them go for free.

im a solo player and often v tunneling killers, i know how to handle it, i can stealth and loop and it means tunneling killers are not an issue for me. Did i learn how to deal with it with killers letting me escape? no. Which is why it baffles me when other solo players and especially SWF players say they find it impossible to counter tunneling. Could it be because when they first started playing they got "nice" killers that treated them like children and allowed them to win? maybe then they liked this feeling of winning with ease, maybe they got used to it, then they get into higher MMR and suddenly the game is not so friendly anymore. Few matches of getting tunneling killers and they maybe they start to get frustrated and wonder how they are supposed to win against this so called unstoppable tactic?

Granted its not your responsibility to train new players how to handle the better players, if you want to play friendly killer by all means carry on, the last thing i would do is tell someone how to play the game. But dont think your doing the survivors any favours because your not. You are still raising their MMR beyond their actual skill level and you are still molly coddling them and basically throwing them to the sharks at a later point, which could lead to them getting frustrated and quitting, thats all im saying.

Yeah and those people think they are so special and funny bc they screw their teammates over. There are plenty of games with the goal to betray, but people who do it in "normal" games are just weird.

Then they say its just a game, but that also applies to many outdoor hobbies. It would be like playing football and your goal is to kick the ball over a fence, so the others get screwed over. Nobody would think thats acceptable.

what makes you think dbd is one of the "normal" games?

  • Exactly, you get it! team mates are a resource like pallets. Handy to have in order to survive and escape but when the gates are powered and open then it doesnt matter how many pallets are left on the map or how many players die, as long as i escape my goal is done.

Although i will say, i dont leave the gate at 80%, i open it and run straight out. The only time i will leave it at 80% is when i think the killer is chasing someone and that player leads the killer to me before i can get the gate open. Then i will leave it at 3 lights and walk away.

you play uk or eu servers?

Precisely why I 8 Hook and take at least 1 Kill (sometimes 2 depending on the RNG/knowledge of players and RBT's). Even then the consistency with which I play this way should stabilize my MMR and the match predictions to not too greatly inflate their MMR, nor should a single match cause a players MMR to inflate to such a great extent.

I also don't "give up and go afk", I'll still chase, eat pallets, down and carry/release etc. (and deathhook a survivor if they indicate so).

I don't know exactly how the MMR system works, just my own observations on the players I've experienced while playing this way, so, if you know of people that have stated they played against a "friendly"(?) killer and then got back to back stomps, let me know.

a single match wouldnt cause a players MMR to increase that much but what if other killers did what you do? keep themselves at the lower ranks giving survivors free escapes, it wouldnt be a single match and trust me you are not the only killer out there that doesnt try to win and lets people escape thinking they are being "nice".

Many people have said they encountered friendly killers that meme around and let them escape…many players have also said they find tunneling impossible to counter and struggle to escape…. maybe these 2 points are connected? hardly surprising people struggle later on in the game if they get used to killers letting them escape.

Listen I hear what you're saying and im not disproving it, but why are so many blights bad then? Most of my games usually 3-4 out the blights I see, very rarely ill run into a dedicated p100 blight main that rocks my ######### at 5 gens.

If blight is that easy, then you can't be bad at something "easy" right?

my guess? MMR…. im often getting blight after blight after blight, and not new players either, they are p100 blights that slug and tunnel.

Yes you can be bad at something that is easy….ghoul is easy but some people still perform poorly. Even skill checks are easy… its amazing how many people mess them up. Even friendly killers that let people escape can find the match easy but intentionally dont give it their all. Also blights usually stomp solo players but its not as easy to win v experienced SWF teams, so the fact blight is easy to use and easy to dominate v solo players it doesnt mean its easy v SWF.

experience doesn't matter if people like him are the reason new people stick around. too many sweaty killers leaving people on the ground for the 4k are why this game has such gargantuan turnover rates

thankfully not many killers are like this. As survivor i hate "friendly killers". so boring and non threatening. might as well just afk imo. i dont think people are sticking around due to killers like this, i think its making it worse and making people feel like quitting after the MMR has increased. The usual complaints of "killer is op" or "this tactic is unbeatable and survivor role is unplayable" probably stems atleast in part from survivors being being boosted up the MMR ranks to where they dont belong and have not yet been able to learn the skills needed.

I like jumpscares and spooking people. Don't have the time to do that if everyone is hyperfocused on gen-speed and hyper-vigilant. I do Hook people, I do make a sacrifice (usually the obsession in the end-game), so I'm still being a "loyal servant to the entity".

But I'm not playing in a comp. mode now are I?

So you play as intended for some of the match then essentially give up and let people escape? Thats sounds an awful like a killer going afk not participating in the match when they know they are beat…which is debatable. What is not debatable is that your admitting to intentionally letting people go to lower your MMR so you can play easier opponents. This not only tanks your MMR but it also raises survivors MMR so they get harder opponents faster, possibly too hard for their skill level due to them being given free escapes.

Think about new players you go against, if killers let them go and inflate the survivors MMR they will gain little to no actual experience v killers that actually play the game normally so they will get stomped and then wonder why they are getting matched with experienced players.

  • @AssortedSorting said:

    MMR.

If you're actively trying to improve and "win", you're going to be steadily improving your MMR to pair you with opposing player(s) of similar skill to give both you and them a chance at decent back and forth. This has the knock-on effect of those who are continuously trying to improve, to subsequently min-max and streamline their actions because they want to "win", and to maintain that feeling of "winning" they continuously get shoehorned into more and more efficient metas.

I purposely let most survivors live and screw around (not that I don't give good chase initially, nor do I force survivors to stay in the match), and my MMR places me with new players every now and then, I can bring whatever I want.

soooo you dont play the game as intended and intentionally tank your MMR to get easier opponents?

Guys this is very hard for me to do but I must apologise. Its been brought to my attention that my behaviour in game has been just ruining peoples games and enough is enough I need to come clean.

To the survivor who run at me with their base kit BT body blocking me in a corner. I am so sorry you were tunnelled. you clearly didn't deserve that. Just because you were on death hook, injured and body blocked me in a corner i had no right to down and hook you again.

To the swf with 4 flashlights and head on build. I deeply apologise for slugging when i had visual on you all. After our post game chat I understand now that I should be instantly picking up and let you have a chance at a save each and every time.

And Finally. To the team I beat a few nights ago. I'm not 100% sure what I did wrong as I 12 hooked the game and never hooked someone who had been unhooked, I insta picked up, I wasn't running meta build however clearly the fact I'm playing The First is enough. So i am truly sorry for playing the new content in the game. I realise now that this content is not for killers to play this is only for survivors and I didn't understand that when I purchased it.

If anyone can help me out and forward me the official handbook killers must follow to ensure that everyone is having a fun and enjoyable game I would much appreciate and once again I am truly sorry for the obvious pain and suffering I have caused while playing this game.

**FYI this is a joke…I'm never sorry for the way I play this game 😎

i believe i can give you the rough copy of this rulebook you should be following. it basically says:

"You, as killer should not try your best to win, you should intentionally handicap yourself for the entertainment of others"

"You, as killer should take into account other peoples enjoyment even when you are not having fun yourself"

"your enjoyment does not matter, you are there to entertain the 4 other players and as your enjoyment does not matter, DO NOT expect others to stop looping or stop doing gens thinking that they will take your enjoyment into consideration…they will not"

Thats pretty much the jist of the rulebook killers are expected to follow.

  • Blight is awful with controller but very easy with a mouse. i have tried both and can honestly say blight with a mouse takes very little skill. Blight and Nurse are both S tier, who do we see more of? Blight. Why? extremely strong and easy to use.

Firstly dude. Go to sleep man. Secondly fair. that time of night there would be less people playing on our servers so understandable you getting repeats.
Honestly the only thing i see 8 out of 10 games is the post game salt. That is always the same. no variety at all just the same insults about the same unfounded things just because they lost XD

lol i work nights so i play dbd all night in work

You would be yelling at someone to do something and half the time they wont hear you because they have it off. It would be pointless and be more often used for toxicity rather than tactical coordination. The reason discord works is because they are people you alredy know that you know arent going to troll. Random players with voicechat will not only decimate immersion but be quite the nightmare in harassment and trolling, unless turned off for the rest of dbds lifespan which would make it pointless as 1 of 4 would have it turned on.

no i would be saying what i see, totem locations, dead zones ect… if others choose to acknowledge then it would be a great help for the team as a whole, they dont even need to use comms. voice chat is available in most modern pvp games. TCM had comms and it was beneficial to have just 1 person using comms.

if the solution is to turn it off why spend the development resources on it over a ping system.

because not everyone would turn it off? i wouldnt. swf can have comms if the choose to, so should everyone else.

  • @Crowman said:

With how toxic this community is already, I don't think voice chat is a good idea. A ping system would be fine.

Survivors got the abandon option because the "mature" killers couldn't stop watching them bleed out on the floor for 4 mins before hooking/mori'ing. Something the survivors (since the "mature" killers cried and got any form of anti-slug cancelled) have zero agency to prevent, unlike killers forcing survivors out the gates.

this was designed to prevent 4min slugging, not as a go next feature. eventually survivors will abuse it and abuse it and when the devs change it who will be to blame? wont be the killers responsible

  • 2 hours of playing survivor…. what did i get? 5 blights in a row. 3 of them was the same player using the same killer with the same perks. yet another example that shows there really is no variety.

  • @Jay_K said:

The odds of getting the same swf multiple times in a row and multiple nights in a row is insanly low. Realisticly i cant see that happening unless your in a region with like 10 players.

Im on eu servers and i rarely get the same survivor and i maybe recognise a survivor in my lobby maybe once a month.

I dont wanna say your lieing but your making this out to be a huge issue with no proof and the examples your using seem very exagerated.

What i would do if you are seeing this truthfully is record it, put it on yourtube then report it because in that example of same swf time and time again shouldnt happen and could be thst either a bug or they

are forcing themself into your lobby

im on uk servers which often includes eu servers and i play between 10pm to about 5 or 6am. im not saying its a huge issue im just stating my own experience backs up the experience of others that have said they get the same players with the same perks over and over. The people that i was playing against thought it was an issue because i was getting 4k on them almost every time, which is probably why they asked me to dodge them (i didnt dodge). They wouldnt force themselves into my lobby then ask me to dodge them, not only that but they dont know who the killer is until the match starts.

Its not a 1 off thing either, its been like it for a while. Even back before the map offerings were nerfed i would get the same squad multiple times a night and they ALWAYS dc'd in loading screen when they saw The Game offering because they knew it was me. Even now i play survivor and come across the same team mates multiple times a night, we finish a match, i q up again and i get the same guy or same duo i was just playing with 30sec ago.

You did write a lot about it and it would be maybe fun to argue about it, but here its pointless. This is a mmr discussion.

It doesnt matter what you feel about wins/losses/draws. A hatch escape is a draw in the mmr system. Thats a fact. It doesnt matter, whether people care about it or not (pretty pointless to write a post for a mmr-discussion then), its just a fact.

So why do you care if (in theory) they change the mmr-results to team-results? Its just an invisible number. You can still freely decide your win-condition.

if we are going strictly by MMR standards then hatch is redundant because you can draw simply by being last man standing, i take a draw over a loss any day so if i get 3 useless team mates im good with a draw to maintain my MMR until i get better team mates. last player can standing can never lose according to MMR. So as long as i make sure im the last player standing my MMR will never drop as a result of my team mates.

If they changed it so MMR is effected by the team then its highly likely that the team losing will cause me to lose too….unless they keep abandons as a draw in MMR terms which would defeat the purpose of scoring everyone as a team.

My own interpretation of escape = win is based on the fact that every other aspect is scoring people as individuals…so its logical to follow that pattern and consider it a win when i escape. If it was changed to team based scoring for MMR then its a slow road to team based blood points and truly makes the hatch pointless, then there would be very little logical grounds to go by for a personal escape being a win which means a team could could cause me to lose, not draw as it currently is, but actually lose.

Not only that but disregarding the hatch, i have escaped via gates many times after killer has closed the hatch…gate escapes are a win according to MMR….making it a team based MMR scoring would mean that potential win would be impossible due to my own team mates throwing the match.

Its already like that. If my team sucks, 5 gens wont get done. I could try to get a draw with hatch, but thats completely reliant on the killer not slugging. And its really boring.

A couple of things to point out here...

    1. There is no win/loss according to the game...it's simply sacrificed or escaped. True, hatch is neutral MMR but do people care about an invisible number? It's more common to go by the escaped/sacrificed, even when looking at escape rates, hatch escapes are included regardless of MMR.

    2. Hatch escapes count towards adepts and other challenges so I wouldn't consider it a draw when the hatch escapes grants you a completed challenge.

    3. It seems that people create their own win/loss criteria in dbd... There are some that only consider a 4k a win, some consider 3k a win. Some people consider it a win if they die but 3 other survivors escape (even though the one that died loses MMR), some consider escape via any means a win, some consider hatch to be a draw, some consider it a win because they escaped. With this in mind, if you consider escaping via any means a win then it's very much possible to win even with useless team mates.

    4. When considering the hatch as a draw and neutral MMR, you need to bare in mind that abandons are neutral MMR too. Why bother trying for hatch when you could throw yourself at the killer, get downed and abandon to get the same result? This is why I consider hatch escapes a win.

This is how I view the game, escape via any means necessary is a win for me, gate escape is survivor equivalent of killer getting 4k. Unanimous win. Hatch escape is survivor equivalent to killer getting 3k....a win but not as big of a win as the 4k or the gate escape. The draw is being last man standing and failing to get the hatch due to being able to abandon. That's my view on it anyway. Others will have different views.

There was a several-day period, maybe 8 months ago, where there were no DC penalties. It was well known. I saw no uptick in DCs. "Every survivor" isn't a fair statement. I've never once DCed as survivor. It's either the sort of thing you'll do or not, regardless of penalty.

As it is now, you can just AFK under hook or run up to the killer to die, which is much worse for the match than having a bot. I'd rather have a bot that will do gens, heal, and unhook than someone who will suicide out or go rat in a corner. How are those things good for the game?

i have to disagree with the comment of its either something you do its not….as killer i never DC because its not worth the penalty. Would i DC penalty free if i could? absolutely i would. Its not just something you do or you dont, its about opportunity.

The lack of DC penalty about 8 months ago was not that well known, might have been known on the forums but this is a small percentage of people considering the player base. Many heard about it like a rumour but was never 100% sure. I would be up for giving it a trial, maybe a month of free DC's for all, let it known in the patch notes and highlighted so EVERYONE knows and see the amount of people that DC over a month.

Solution: engage with the chat and lose. Crazy to ask for easy matches so you can give it half your attention AND win.

we agree on something lol. its almost like a casual player saying they want to meme around, give the match half their attention AND still win.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/463896/where-is-the-variety

See i was gonna say ive seen a bit more variety recently in regards to survivors and the perks they are running. yeah you see sprint burst or lithe every game but im being hit with perks i didnt even know existed as well.
I don't believe you are going against the same things every game however if you are and you don't like it then maybe its time for a break.
I don't mean that in a mean way or anything but if your truely finding the game boring because you feel like its the same every match maybe its time for a break from DBD and pick up a new game for a bit.
I did that for about 6 months came back with Vecna 2 and its been a real variety im going against

i can confirm i have had months of the same thing over and over as killer. Maybe its MMR, maybe its the times that people play, maybe its a region thing? no idea of the cause but i was having literally the same SWF multiple times in a row, multiple nights in a row… they used the same perks (i used the same killer and perks) every time. They even asked me to dodge them if i see them in the lobby because i can see them as im killer and they were getting fed up with going against me time after time.

Point is, believe it or not, it is very much possible for people to see 0 variety and see the same things repeatedly match after match.

Most of the time whene playing, there are so many survivors, and even killers who just give up. From the killer side its usually met with a DC, but on the survivor side what they do is give up, or even troll their team for the rest of the game. It happens more when playing a strong killer, but even then it happens with every one. They don't rq, they don't stay till endgame chat to get angry, they just go afk and give up. It ruins the match for everyone involved even if one guy does it. It makes me very sad. What made this happen more often?

    :(

simply put, its because they can.

    1. the abandon system is a free go next, so they troll untill the whole team is down or they are last person remaining so they can abandon.
    2. DC penalty can be reset by playing 20 matches without DCing (easily done when people can abandon or go next)
    3. they nerfed map offerings, if people dont like a map they just go next.
    4. Also due to map offerings being nerfed they are now hidden (supposed to be hidden but not always). People used to DC in loading screen when they see a map offering they didnt like, now they dont…they DC in the match instead.
    5. killers also DC but its less often due to having no ability to go next like survivors can so they usually just afk or turn "friendly killer"

Are you sure? Did they change it again? Last thing i know is the change that you lose less mmr if your team escapes.

nothing has changed, mmr is still scored per individual, bloodpoints are still scored per individual, escapes are still counted per individual. Therefore it is possible for the killer to win (3k) and 1 survivor to win if they escape.

Personally its this individual aspect of the game that makes it playable…. we all know how soloq is awful with having bad team mates that cant last 10sec in chase or people simply doing challenges instead of gens… luckily this does not effect me as much due to being scored as an individual not a team. i dread to think what would happen if it was based on the team, 1 griefer and its all over. 1 guy goes next, its over. 1 guy does totems instead of gens….good luck team.

Of course, extreme takes should always be taken with a grain of salt.
But I guess even biased people does have good ideas. They just need a little tweak here and there to better fit into the game, to make it fair for both sides.

i agree, and there we have a constructive discussion and debate about both sides, about balance. My issue is when people dont explain or show they have taken both sides into consideration. I will often highlight the impact of the other side for them if they dont do it themselves but if they still fail to acknowledge these potential impacts (or they acknowledge them but just dont care) then thats when i call it bias and start to take the ideas put forward less seriously.

I wish they'd make questions about how awfully balanced Survivor is too, but as usual, just another Survivor catering survey

to be fair they did ask a question regarding how unbalanced SWF is. They could have gone more in-depth with this one but they did mention it atleast which suggest they are aware that SWF may have an impact of things.

The range of "mains" is more than just a scale of black and white.
I would say the average player who "mains" one side over the other is sitting at around 65-75% time invested into their main role.

As for myself, I play mostly survivor (with a 75/25% bias in time investment). But that is not to say that I can't see the issues on the killer side, despite playing survivor 75% of the time.
Yes, some people are more biased in their opinions, but that is just human nature.
Yet, nothing is as black or white as you describe it. There are players who are primarily playing one side over the other that can have an unbiased view on things in the game.

i agree it is a scale and some will show balanced ideas even if they are 75% to one side, however the overall majority wont, thats my point. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but how serious these opinions are taken into account by others can depend on many things such as possible biases. Generally, people take the ideas and opinions of players more seriously if these players can show they are not biased, explain why, explain the impact of both sides. Thats not to say their opinions are invalid in any way but how serious others take these ideas onboard can be effected by possible biases influenced by the main role they play, which is why when someone comes out with an absurd suggestion for a buff or nerf and they fail to acknowledge the impact on the other side then it highlights a bias.
