You are not offering anything constructive besides "it feels like" while just assuming things on people, entirely neclegting reason. You have absolutely no valid evidence for any of your assumptions.

without having these measures actually in place all anyone can do is say what they feel would happen. The difference is im saying WHY i think the way i do and offering logic reasoning to back it. You are basically saying "people are nice, people will give their money to homeless people…ever heard of "generosity"? Yes some people will do that, but overall majority wont. Same applies here, yes you can have neutrality but the overall majority wont and the evidence is seen in these forums. you didnt answer the question, are you a main or do you play one side over the other? You could atleast use your own experience to justify your point but you dont even do that. My guess would be your a survivor main and you refuse to believe you have a bias. if im wrong, you should be able to provide your stats to show this is not the case.

Nobody agrees to your "subjective perception" while there is reasoning and neutrality on the other side.

so you still offer nothing constructive? are you a survivor main, killer main or 50 50 player? your failing to explain what this reasoning behind neutrality is. what benefit would it have? You offer no evidence, no explanation other than "i said so"

Sorry, I forgot to mention: I would implement some kind of anti-dodging penalty. Treat it like DCing with gradually increasing matchmaking bans.

IF we're keeping it in the first place

it would suit me fine lol lock people in, cant back out so when soloq selfish players like me go in with a full selfish build (and people know i have that due to seeing perks) then they cant back out….if they go next then it would only benefit me further.

Because people play games for fun, much like the block system would help maintain.

    Shocking right?

The emotes were just an example of things this community blow out of proportion like your "fortnite" statement, Resident Evil Resistance and Friday the 13th had them, it changed nothing about the horror vibe.

Killers would run out of space really quickly if they blocked 4 survivors over and over lol, as for blocking individual killers, that is the more volatile one, but an avoid list that only lasts a week with limited pin slots like other games have would be an easy way to avoid current cheaters/bad eggs.

It's more crazy we have a block list which allows you still interact with each other, any other game would come under heavy fire for it.

people play for fun? try telling that to the people that dodge over literally anything and spend more time dodging than actually playing the game, or the hackers, or the people that go next seconds in the game and make it unfun for every single player in that match. Not everyone has the same idea of what fun is, thats why it would be a disaster. one persons fun is another players nightmare.

If the block had a limited list then it would accomplish nothing because the list would have to be pretty big to have any meaningful impact because of the amount of bad eggs there are.

Like i said, blocking wouldnt help avoid cheaters because they often get banned multiple times and start new accounts, what you going to do? fill your block list with cheaters alt accounts until its full then you cant block anyone?

Ah you again. I thought I told you to stop citing me. Youre just doing the good old generalization nonsense as well as just thinking of the worst mindset for everyone. Ever heard the term neutrality? You obviously not.

sorry but its public forums…you dont want to be cited then block me or dont spout nonsense that you dont like being called out on, the citation is for others to see what my comment is regarding.

when you play the game for years and read forums and posts for years and establish a pattern then its reasonable to make assumptions based on that pattern. The pattern i have seen repeatedly for years has been most of the time players with mains generally dont care about the other side…why would they? But the people that play 50/50 seem to offer fairer and more balanced ideas.

Again i back my claim up with the concept of a pattern that has been seen not just by myself but others too…. What basis do you have that mains are not often bias? other than "i said so"…i would like to get something remotely constructive from you as the vast majority of your posts have not been constructive at all. a recent example of this is in this thread…. "Thats one of the worst statements possible." no explanation why or any elaboration…very constructive of you.

  • @Dinadin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4053592#Comment_4053592

Why would people that mostly play one side be automatically biased?

generally thats how it goes, killer mains and survivor mains usually push for what benefits them because they dont play the other side so dont care if its fair or not. 50/50 players are usually less biased because they tend to take both sides into account. It wouldnt make sense for a 50/50 player to push for hard nerfs to survivor role knowing they play survivor 50% of the time, but it does make more sense that someone playing 80% killer would push for survivor nerfs knowing they rarely play that role. Just the way it goes and has been mostly this way for years

  • @brewingtea said:

If they let survivors see other survivors' perks, then it might actually have a purpose. As it stands, it's just a waste of time, but it doesn't have to be. Either fix it so it's useful or get rid of it.

i think seeing everyones perks would help in some ways but it would also increase the dodging aspect. people already dodge players based on silly things like what character they are (sable)…you want to give people another reason to dodge by allowing them to see what perks people are running?

Its almost like people want to cherry pick their own team in a random soloq matchmaking so why not cherry pick them here and ask people to join SWF instead?

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

I am aware, I am also aware you're all terrified of emotes or anything different being added to the game, afraid of meaningful change. Yet as soon as the "emote" is added as a perk, it's okay (bardic/one-two-three-4). A different example, but one non the less.

A meaningful block system/avoid system would go such a long way in this game, allow people to control their enjoyment more, even if it had a smaller limit or a time limit, it's better than forcing someone to face someone who is ruining the game for them, Overwatch has it, so does Marvel Rivals, it's just a modern game feature.

not sure where emotes came from lol. emotes have always been a thing, tbagging for example? adding actual emotes wouldnt change much other than make dbd feel more like fortnite…i mean why anyone would want that is beyond me but each to their own i suppose.

I would love to trial the block system tbh, im pretty sure q times would sky rocket due to the amount of people that would be blocked just for not playing the way other people want them to play. Like you said, people shouldnt be forced to play face someone thats ruining the game for them…my previous examples stands, would increase q times, killers would block SWF teams, survivors would block killers and their own team mates, cheaters just make new accounts so blocking them wouldnt really do anything.

I don't really see the issue? DBD players always argue with the worst case scenarios, you're denying genuine people the ability to block because you're saying XYZ will abuse it.

It doesn't happen in other games, why does here have to be different?

yes it does happen in other games, there has been many players from these games that say they cant get a match due to the block feature.

Its not arguing worst case scenarios its arguing most likely scenarios.

Im not sure your aware what the general player base of dbd is actually like lol, you dont save fast enough? your blocked. you didnt last as long in chase as others expect? your blocked. you have 1 bad match, will people care? nope, they would probably block you so they can focus their matchmaking for people of better skill. for what? not living up to other players expectations? killer struggles in a match, the survivors are blocked, do this until all thats left is easy players they can 4k.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4053319#Comment_4053319

The answer to this would be to have a functioning blocklist, instead of the garbage we have in game

based on the amount of people the dodge lobbys, go next, DC, generally annoy other players by simply doing challenges instead of gens…. if people could block other players no one would get a match lol. A pretty common complaint in soloq is how awful team mates can be.

You can be pretty damn sure if you block players for whatever reason, others will block you for their own reasons…who will you be matched with when you blocked people and the ones you have not blocked have blocked you? very limited lol

  • i see 3 issues with this:

    1. would no longer be able to see if there is a known cheater in the survivor lobby (currently both killer and survivors can dodge them at the moment).
    2. Would no longer be able to see the well known griefers by name or profile. (there are a lot of them out there)
    3. as much as i disagree with the whole lobby dodging…..if players couldnt dodge the lobby they would just go next in game instead. Personally i rather they dodge before the match starts not during.

if they fixed the cheating issue and increased go next penalty then sure…. but until then, removing lobby would do more harm than good.

  • @kaneyboy said:

so iv just been tunneled out by this new killer, ran for two gens and then wouldn’t leave me alone after, used up the resources, but it was inevitable. How do you counter this?

As others have said, you can go with option A. use being tunneled as a way to practice looping….loop well enough and the killer will either lose too many gens by tunneling a survivor they cant catch or they will abandon chase to pressure the gens and seek out easier prey which means you are no longer being tunneled.

Or option B. if you dont want to deal with being tunneled then practice stealth so its not you the killer is tunneling, this can be helpful if you know you cant loop very well.

If in SWF then option A might be the best choice but if playing soloq then option B might be better as you dont know if your team will even try to do gens while your looping the killer.

  • The issue is many killers often feel they need to tunnel to keep up with gens. This seems to have an impact with the anti go next system which is designed to prevent players just starting a match and getting themselves killed each time just because they dont like the map or something by giving them a temp ban/penalty.

    Solutions?

    1. could decrease the sensitivity of go next but this would lead to more people killing themselves ruining the game for everyone.
    2. Could nerf tunneling so survivors last longer but this would mean many killers would struggle to keep up with gens.
    3. Personally i think we should leave the anti go next as is so it does its job, nerf gen speeds AND tunneling potential so survivors last longer while killers can still get kills without tunneling. This would mean tunneling effectiveness would go down, killers would have more time to kill and survivors wouldnt be hit with an anti go next system.

    Just my opinion.

  • hm, im good with noticeable 🤘😁🤘

if ppl like me quit, the game would be dead. I am more than certain that more than 75% of survivors do see the game as a team game, same as me. I get what you are saying, but at the same time, it feels better to get more ppl to escape. If you do gens that’s good, also in my opinion there shouldn’t be perks like sole survivor. If I’d know a survivor that is with me in the lobby with that perk I’d leave the lobby. Like you clearly need to help others out to win by gens, if it’s unhooking/healing or just doing chases. You only can win completely solo, by hatch. Also there is no strict „survivors won“, but a strict killer lost (I believe it was if 3-4 survivors escape it’s a loss, 2 it’s a draw and below that a win) which determines his MMR. That is what I see as winning as a team. I get you too though that you don’t want to be dependent on others. I can’t play like that since I only super rarely play solo. One question I have, it is 2 survivors left, you and someone else, gates are open, the other survivor gets hooked near a gate, you are not in the gate but somewhere around it, you are healthy. The killer has no noed and has no ability or anything to onehit you, would you go for the safe of the other person or not? (Considering they were playing good and not trolling or anything)

    1. if people like you quit and the game died it would give the devs more incentive to change things wouldnt it? why change things if people are are playing the game?
    2. dbd has bots….until we get killer bots, it needs killers more than it needs survivors.
    3. a large portion of survivors probably do see the game as a team game which is probably why a large portion of survivors are having a bad time at the moment. Personally i would hate for dbd to be a strict team game…having to rely on 3 other people that wont touch gens and go next/DC? no thanks, i prefer to rely on the team as little as possible. That being said SWF is more like a team game due to atleast having comms and the ability to work as a team and you know everyone in the SWF team is on the same page goal wise, they know there isnt someone just going for hatch challenge or totem challenge or something.
    4. There is no strict win/loss in game for either side, If going on MMR then both sides have a clear win/loss….survivors win is escape via gates. Doesnt matter if 3 others died, if the 1 player makes it out the gate then that play has won while the killer also won due to getting 3k so the killer and 1 survivor MMR would technically improve.
    5. i only play solo, i have escaped many times via the gate by working as a team player to a certain point, but when the whole team is just plain awful then im in strict solo mode and it is possible to escape via gates when the hatch is closed. i recently saved a clip v ghoul on The Game map, 3 players died, ghoul closed the hatch, i still managed to get a gate open and escape.
    6. To answer your question, generally speaking no i would not go for the save in that situation. There has been matches where all 4 of us are still alive when the gates have been opened, 1 on hook and 3 of us at full health and i still opt to just escape while i can. If in SWF yes i probably would go for save but in solo? no.

It felt like quite an accusation, surely if it's as bad as you say, we need to make that proof public.

Ultimately, I'm confused why you'd even bring it up if it does not need to be talked about.

your hitting a brick wall lol there is a group of about 4 or 5 them that are chummy and in a clique…a couple talk privately and even play SWF together. (forums version of bully squad). eventually they will push it too far and get themselves banned lol

Oh yea I am crying, the stats literally show a advantage to killers and killers still say survivors are too strong many times. I am just trying to explain to you the problems I believe. The devs literally said killers have an advantage because of lore, since killers usually have the advantage, which I think is fkn bs to do something like that. Like what

you entitled to your belief of what the problems are but it sounds like this game is not for you.

what tf are you saying… that’s literally the reason why you think so. You don’t give a f abt others. That’s selfish. Next thing playing in the team makes the odds much higher to escape, escapes are the MMR so you should play in a team. If you play solo the thing you’d go for is the hatch, which is much riskier than gens in a team. Also tbh someone who doesn’t do gens, I won’t get from a hook, he is a nuisance. If you think survivors aren’t a team idk man… it’s like saying in football playing selfish is better because you will have better stats but the chance of winning slims down. You are actually idk man, it literally is a team game, if you don’t play it in a team idk stop playing the game. You are toxic

yes it is selfish….i dont start the game up to entertain others, i start it up to entertain myself.

Playing in a team relying on team mates to do gens and loop well while they often dont loop well and never touch gens can make decrease the odds of escape. imagine looping for 5 straight min and not 1 gen being touched…. well done team.

i play solo and do gens as primary target. failing that, yes hatch is next priority, failing that i can open the hatch again with a key or try the gates when the hatch is closed. Like i said i play solo and escape often…..however disregarding escapes, the match is still more fun for me.

We do agree on one thing, only unhook the ones that are contributing to getting the gates powered and opened…. if someone isnt doing gens and they are doing totems, leave them on hook unless unhooking them buys me more time to finish the gens.

interesting that you compare dbd to football…..football has a clear win/loss for the team. dbd does not, thats my point. Nowhere does it say SURVIVORS TEAM WON or SURVIVORS LOST….its simply individual escapes and deaths not team based. If the game was scored as a team then yes it would be a team game but no, its scored as individuals which means an individual can escape when others have failed. You might not like it but thats just a fact.

You can claim im toxic but facts remain….i play by the rules of the game and nothing i do is reportable, i escape more than most people do, i have fun playing. With this in mind who should stop playing the game? the one actually enjoying it or the one that hates it?

  • @Emeal said:

I want to know how many people actually meets the goal of 60% for their account, aka 40% Survival rate or 60% killrate. WHY??? cause im interested in how well BHVR is doing in creating a fair and balanced game for all players.

So how many people meet the goal and how well are you guys doing at trimming in the edges?

But the stats tracker isnt accurate…. We all know abandons cound as void so last player remaining can always abandon and avoid getting a loss on the record.

And yet a single mistake from a single Survivor can literally hand the Killer a free win.  That's one of the frustrating things about Survivor, is how everyone loses when one person makes a mistake, which is out of the others' control.  At least some Killers take comfort in knowing that they only need to rely on their actions alone.  Killer is less stressful because they only have themselves to worry about. And all the comeback mechanics, of course, both in basekit and in perks.

it can also be seen that killer is more stressful for the same reason….killers are alone, they need to pay constant attention, they cant afford to waste time.

As killer, i cant stop mid match without gens popping and survivors winning. If i need to answer the door or something, i might be afk for like 30 sec, i come back and that wasted time has a huge impact. There is no one else to chase and provide pressure for me while im afk for 30sec.

As survivor, i can stop mid match and still win. If i need to answer the door or something i can do that, i could simply go in a locker, answer the door for 30sec, come back and im still in the locker and someone else done a gen. i continue the match. Or when im on hook i have a few seconds to have a drink and chill out.

The point some people are making is that the killer is constant, never stopping, always chasing, always doing something. Survivors have breaks, they are not always doing something for example when they are on hook…the killer doesnt hook than have a rest, they have to get back to chasing someone else or defend the hook at the very least. This Is why some people find killer more stressful than survivor.

oh yea let’s make so that survivors have to be much better than killers, so that have survivors play as a team of 4 constantly and still give killers the advantage? Just because killers have to boost their ego and cry as soon as survs have even one good perk? I just played against a killer, a clown, hooked two survivors on hooks 10 meters apart, patrolling the hooks, instantly making the chance of 3+ survivors escaping to 0% even two would be like idk 1-5%. Now those two were randoms, but why should I need to have 3 other good players to be able to enjoy the game. Every killer sweats their ass off just to boost their ego, making it impossible to not play swf most of times and still enjoy playing. 4 matches I played, very similar perks, 3 times vecna with the same add ons everytime and that clown. Didn’t enjoy even a bit of any of those matches. Combining clown had 80 ping, hitting me through windows I vaulted through long ago and shouldn’t hit me, that’s how he got me the first time, then he only continued to camp and always tunnel the one from hook away. Playing stealth only works if you have good tm8s or if you don’t give af about the others. Also if you want to discuss further I don’t want to discuss on this forum anymore it’s annoying

Who said survivors play as a team? soloq players are not part of a team…they are thrown into a match with 3 other survivors but in no way does the game say its a team. Survivors might have their own individual goals (cleanse totems, adept, hatch escape, stuns). So when someone is working on totems all match and not touching gens when everyone else is trying to do gens and escape, how is that a team? Survivors are scored as individuals, MMR, BP, badges, EXP, challenges are all per players not per team. Even certain perks are designed to work better when other players die such as sole survivor, solo survivors dont have comms to be able to work as a team (unlike SWF).

This is your mistake, your thinking its a team effort when its not always the case. Im solo player and i often escape and have fun doing so….do i need 3 good team mates? no, because i dont play as a team, i play for me and rely less on other people.

You are correct that stealth works better if you dont a f about people….which i dont, so it works for me. If you want to be a hero and go for saves and be liked by all thats your choice but your putting yourself at risk by doing so and potentially making the game a worse experience for yourself.

You talk about killers crying but it seems your doing more crying than all the killers put together at this point. I dont mind either way regarding continuing the discussion or not, i will keep playing survivor, keep playing stealthy, keep having fun. I have pointed out what works for me, its up to you if you take that on board or not…its your lack of enjoyment we are talking about here, not mine.

So as a survivor you would be happy if killers disconnected getting a bot to play against? My issue is if i wanted to play against bots i would do customer.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4050839#Comment_4050839

I dont overly agree. If your power is dropping that often its causing huge dc penalty then the game is the least of your issues

As for string of hackers how often are you really going against them? And if you say all the time then i want the proof. Over the last 8 or so years of playi g this game ive not gone against a single hacker that has made it obvious or held hostage. Lilely hood is just subtle ones thats it.

So yeah i stand by harsher dc penalties

i would like to add, if we going on the basis of what SHOULD happen then DC pen should be harsher and hackers should be stopped via anti cheat. But by mixing what should happen with what currently happens, we get a situation where people say we cant make DC pen harsher because of the hackers.

In short, both should be addressed, hackers for obvious reasons and DC pens to stop people DCing over literally anything.

It's understandably difficult for people to comprehend where you're coming from, as most long-time players have grown out of the horror and fear aspect due to typical overexposure. The devs have said before that the playerbase is what has evolved the game to the place it's at today, because the fear simply doesn't last long. They simply follow the trends of the players.

You seem to be holding onto remnants of the past that aren't really relevant anymore. I don't think your advice would "help" solo queue as much as make it worse. Not just for survivors, but playing killer against 4 survivors who just hide with the goal of getting hatch once everyone else dies? No thanks

i agree i am holding on to the past and while its still an option i will continue to do so because i enjoy the game that way. As a result i dont have issues with tunneling, slugging, camping, gen rushing or bully quads. i found my own solution that works for me and there is nothing wrong with that. Once again, i have never said people should hide for the hatch, i dont do that and i certainly dont think 4 survivors should. but i do think 4 survivors should work gens while trying to evade the killer as much as possible, when stealth fails then loop for as long as possible then its up to the 3 survivors not hooked to stealthily do gens and save. This is just 1 playstyle. there are others such as just looping and going for blind saves but i have never suggested people hide waiting for others to die so they can get the hatch. That is the difference between a rat and stealth which people seem to have a hard time understanding the difference.

Sure, but you didn't make a post to complain about those things.

When people make posts, it is generally assumed they care about the topic and want a change, especially if it's negative.

thats a bit of an assumption, some people make posts out of boredom or curiosity. some even make posts just to start a discussion and see where it ends up. doesnt mean they want change…even if i did want change, still doesnt mean i tell people to not abandon. thats the crucial point. wanting change and voicing opinions is one thing but when you start dictating to people how they should play before these changes have been made and make out they are scum for not following these rules that have not yet been introduced to the game then it comes across as malicious and controlling.

  • its an optinon, which im entitled to. like i said, i dont scrutinise people for doing it, i dont tell them not to…just silly that they can. While they can i understand thats how it is so each to their own. is it silly that i can escape and not go back to unhook? is it silly that i am able to avoid being chased while i do gens? maybe…. but thats the game we play like it or not

The game has a flow. There's a way matches go when everyone is competent. You being outside of that flow is a you issue that sadly becomes your teammates' problem. I'd rather have a hard tunneling, hitting-on-hook, humping killer than a teammate who dumps the match for their own desires. At least the killer is supposed to be my enemy and I'm prepared for it. No one is ready for treacherous teammates. That's the only reason your methods work.

as far as im concerned you can shove your rules.

Says the guy who loves to mention rules and to push them to their limits.

You don't care what people say yet you mention the one guy who thanked you once and you also get tilted by tbagging as killer. Tracks.

not my issue, i have no issue lol. if people have a problem its clearly their issue.

i follow actual rules, push them to the limits maybe but i follow them and dont break them. i dont follow made up rules by some random

  • not at all, i think it is silly but im aware that if people abandon thats their choice. i certainly dont tell them "dont abandon because these are my rules and if you abandon your scum" lol. if you said you think my playstyle is silly and dont agree with it, fair enough but thats as far as you can go with it…you cant tell me how to play or what to do or what not to do

Still curious what you meant by that comment regarding last year. You weren't even on the Forums, nor do I recall the specific incident you are talking about. I'd appreciate some insight.

Likewise, I'd love to get you in a game sometime. I'm sure we're in different time zones, but it'd be fun to see how effective it really is.

As an aside, you kinda talk like how I remember @Prometheus1092 talking. I just think it's kind of funny how there's so many different people who all talk differently, but we end up getting some rare cases where it matches up lol.

you dont need an account to read the forums, i have been reading as guest long before i had an account.

I think i remember that person when i used to read as a guest, made a lot of sense i thought

So you're a newer player then? The game always feels like horror to new players but it's actually natural for that fear to fade. It's like if you watched the same horror movie multiple times, it eventually stops scaring you. You see that in your own post, with the folks who run circles trying to get the killers attention. They're not treating them like a "joke," they've just played long enough that all fear is gone and chase (generally the only unpredictable factor in the game) is the only thing that gives them that dopamine hit anymore.

quite opposite, i played since it first came out and i want that horror game element back which is part of the reason i play the way i do. i dont like looping, its boring. i want to evade the big scary killer that poses a threat to my life, not run in circles like scooby doo. If people want to loop, thats fine more power to them for doing what they enjoy but i enjoy stealth and doing gens….if people dont like that, thats their problem not mine. i have only offered advice to help people that hate soloq survivor and cant get any fun from it by saying what works for me and how i get fun out of the role and that outrages people lol. "how dare you not play my way". The controlling nature of some people astounds me but i still have fun and thats why i play.

I bring gen perks and a toolbox. It's not uncommon for me to touch all 5 gens that get done. I usually do one or two just by myself. So you'd be wrong there. But I also trade, heal, take protection hits, bodyblock, give free downs to stop tunneling, and participate in end game saves.

I love how you call them my rules all while simultaneously having multiple people expressing the same view to you in this very thread as though I cannot read.

Someone thanked you once. Amazing. Now tell me how many people have said less pleasant things as well. But this very specific scenario is different than the majority of what you say. I bring hatch offerings to my matches and we will also leave if someone is near shack and unreachable. That's completely different then just running out without a thought for the rest of your team, which is exactly what you did in the one and only match you've shared.

How the killer got to that 3k matters. If you had zero hooks all match but it ended at one gen up that could have been a team win.

no no no we are going on i didnt do enough according to you so you dont do enough according to me. you say you do 2 by yourself? i expect you to do 3 and unhook more than you do and heal more than you do….according to me.

they are your rules….not mine and not bhvrs rules. others might come up with rules similar to you and they have but it doesnt change the fact they are your made up rules like others have made up their own rules. Who says i have to get chased? bhvr? no….you do, thats your rule and your expectation. someone doesnt follow your rules? you cant stand it lol talk about dictatorship. as far as im concerned you can shove your rules.

Im aware lots of people dont like my playstyle and lots have said many many bad things but do i care? no. do i have fun? yes. would i care if others played like me? no, i encourage them to because i have fun so maybe they would to.

I'm not saying you don't do anything, I'm saying you don't do enough. You're interacting with only a portion of the game solely for your own sake.

An end-game is often very doable and massively satisfying to most survivor players. Leaving immediately is, again, fresh install behavior. It's pretty rare, even when I soloq, for people to not try for the save. Someone who runs out the gate immediately when a three-person save is totally doable is as rare as they are offensive in my matches.

Why would you suddenly care about the killer getting a 4k when you clearly don't care if they get a 3k as long as you're not part of it?

lol i dont do enough? wow. There is nothing in the game that states "you must interact with the killer". How much i do is based purely on how much YOU would like me to do. Like hell im going to play a game and think "i wonder if im doing enough….are my team mates going to be mad at me because i should be getting in the killers face". As much as you love to create your own rules and despise it when people dont follow them, that does not mean they are rats because you say so. Maybe i dont think you do enough, you dont do gens as much as i want you to…by your standards your a rat because you dont do enough based on my say so

Leaving immediately in my view is respectful to the killer that might not appreciate forcing people out the gate (which many killers have said they dont like). Many survivors have actually said they wished people just left so they could get hatch. I have actually been thanked for leaving and not hanging around because 1 guy was being chased, he was injured near the shack, i left and hatch spawned, he escaped. i could have saved him, took protection hits but it could have ended with both us dying.

because denying the killer 4k means someone got out, someone won. i dont care if the killer gets a 3k as long as someone gets out. obviously i rather that someone be me but if its someone else then good on them, they play smart, they play well, they escape. Cant fault it. like i said i would do the same if its reversed and i wouldnt risk giving the killer 4k where no one escapes when i can escape.

You keep saying you do gens like it's news. Of course you touch the gens bro, what else is there to do? We can all assume you're not in a bush all match. That's day-one behavior. Someone who actively avoids aggro and sets up their team to die is also a rat. Taking chase and involving yourself with the killer is part of the game.

you say what else is there to do but then you also suggest that i rat out and dont do anything….which is it? Im either working towards to goal of doing gens or im not. a rat does not do gens, stealthy player does. a rat is bad, stealth is not

i dont set anyone up to die, they do that on their own by going down in 10sec. im not taking the blame for someone else's failures. As previously stated….many times…..if they can loop pretty well i do often save them because its mutually beneficial, they loop i do gens or i loop they do gens, we escape, all good. But when people go down instantly, try to go next, spends all match doing their totem challenge instead of doing gens, saving them does not benefit me and my escape. it might benefit them so they can run along and find another totem to do but its not mutually beneficial. That is when i will say no, someone else can go for the save if they want but im doing gens.

im pretty logical and pretty calculated in my approach and i expect people to treat me the same, if im the only one doing gens or i loop good enough then it benefits them to save me….but when its end game and they no longer need me i understand and even expect them to leave at the first opportunity, dont come back to save me and risk giving the killer 4k, dont linger by the gate to bag, just escape.

The issue is that when you play that way, you should really lead with that in your arguments. Otherwise you're massively disingenuous, which I doubt is news for you. This same conversation has been had multiple times on the forum for God knows how long.

i have said a few times, taking my advice wont get you liked, i have been honest about that. I also said as long as they dont mind not being liked and called all sorts at the end of the match then i would advise playing like me. i dont see how me saying how i play and saying i have fun playing my way and saying others might also have fun playing my way is being disingenuous.

People want the problems addressed so that the survivor team can have a chance to fully play and possibly win. "Rat for hatch while your team gets tunneled" is not a solution to the game's problems. If killers win their matches easily with cheese tactics, the problems are not being solved. A 1e every match is the survivors losing every match and is not a good or balanced situation.

i agree, rat for hatch is not a solution….thats why i dont do that. i do gens when my team gets tunneled lol how many times do i have to say that? hatch becomes an option if my team cant last 10 sec in chase and some bright spark decides to unhook in the killers face allowing them to tunnel and making no use of the hook timer at all but even then i do gens untill its just me remaining

if you cant understand basic principals like that...

you fail to understand how the game works.

Yeah. Totally not calling people idiots without simply avoiding that word.

I also sincerely doubt that you play the game completely and exclusively for yourself at the expense of literally everyone else and then claim to be completely altruistic and "I'm only trying to help" on here.

"Trying to poison the well as much as you can so you can continue to play the way you are now" is a much simpler explanation that is also more consistent with your actions. It's a shame that the rest of us can't get a better game because of it, but that's also part for the course I suppose.

such a shame that isnt it? sounds like a you problem to me, im just playing the game my way, doing the objectives trying to escape and stating how i find enjoyment in the game in areas that people often struggle….each to their own.

Again, I have to tell you that you are arguing against your own best interests here too. Avoiding tunnelers and getting hatch only works because 3/4 players are affected by it.

thats how i learnt to play….by people doing exactly that. they still do that and i respect them for leaving me on hook when they can escape because i would do the same in their position. im fine with people playing that way.

I'm sure that I fail to understand how the game works lol that must be why I find so much success.

So, you do gens, unhook, do totems, heal etc etc and are never seen. Curious. I see three options.

    A) You are massively inefficient and hide from the TR.

    B) You are not playing against half-decent competition, which is not necessarily on you. The game's matchmaker is utterly useless.

    C) You are actually just ratting out.

Also, what are you even talking about?

well i too have great success and as long as im doing the objective i am playing the game and having fun while playing. if you have a problem with that then thats a you problem lol

Sounds like you do the bare minimum. I'm curious as to what even attracts you to the game if you go to such lengths to avoid any interaction with the killer at all

Exactly that…. that is what attracts me to the game. The feeling that a horror game should bring, avoiding the killer at all cost, doing gens with suspense and anticipation, keeping my eyes peeled, listening, not knowing if the killer is heading to me or not, the struggle to survive, thinking "if im caught im dead".

Its a horror game and i enjoy treating it as such. I dont want to play survivor like "hey killer come get me" round in cirlces we go…."i know you cant touch me", pallet stun, tbag, run to the next pallet. Some survivors treat killers like a joke and thats not the game i have in mind when i play a horror game.

A good society should (and some do) ask why people commit crimes like stealing and how to mitigate them, because studies show that punishment alone isn't a silver bullet. Asking questions isn't about giving away free stuff; it's about learning what compels those people to steal, why they do it, and what can be done to eliminate or reduce it. This is especially true during a surge. The devs need to determine why some Killers have a high DC or "go-next" rate, and a good place to start is a survey asking players about disconnects and leaving.

we have asked why people do what they do and the question has been answered….like i said people have openly said "because i can" as one of many reasons. If you want to psychoanalyze people and find out why they do bad things, thats great but if the answer to this riddle of why people do bad things hasnt been answered in the real world i dont think it can be answered in dbd. To that end, we must sometimes acknowledge people can be unpleasant and this is even more so when people are online… so as far as the game goes, ye i think just stopping people from doing bad things is probably the best course of action. Do we ask ourselves "why do people hack and cheat?" You want to bargain and reason with these cheaters to find out why they do it? good luck with that

I don't view non-participation as a valid tactic, but it does seem to be something you specialize in.

again, another flat out lie….non participation in avoiding the objective. I have repeatedly said i do not avoid the objective, i do gens, unhook a good looper so they can buy me more time which benefits them and me so its mutually beneficial. i do hexes if i come across one. my advice to you would be to first understand what the difference is between a rat that hides in the corner not doing anything and a player that does the objective while not being seen. Then you might understand a new way of playing lol. if you cant understand basic principals like that (which im pretty sure it was you that thought people were getting banned last year for doing the objectives) that would explain why you fail to understand how the game works.

Survivor - "i cant deal with tunneling, its impossible to counter"

me - "i dont have an issue with tunneling because i use stealth and play selfishly which helps me avoid getting tunneled and regardless of win or lose i get a more enjoyable match"

You do realize that when people complain about tunneling it's not just because it happens to them, right? Most people see survivor as a team role, as you can see from pretty much the entire forum disagreeing with your views, and don't like seeing an instant team loss, nor do they want to creep around edge map and wait out the hatch and have the most boring time of their lives.

Like i said they can disagree with my views, if the entire forum feels that way thats fine but it also explains why the entire forum gets so annoyed with the game. My advice still stands, up to them if they want to continue having an awful time or if they choose to play differently. Its all personal choice at the end of the day, they dont want to creep around the map, they dont want to see the game as anything else other than a team game….thats fine, people can play however they want, just cant really blame others for trying to offer advice that they find useful lol. You dont have to agree or even like my advice, but its perfectly valid, helps me and i will continue to advise people to play differently and offer tips to improve their enjoyment

Apologies if these have been asked before but I had some question surrounding the abandon feature.

According to the DBD stats tracker if a survivor abandons it counts as an escape/win for them. The massive question is Why? If your the last one left and go down why would it count as a win if you abandon? Like who thought that was a good idea.

As it counts as a win for stats does this also mean it raises your MMR?
Hypothetically does this mean that according to the stats tracker i can play a brand new survivor. play stealth to be the last survivor left always, throw myself at the killer to go down and abandon and have a 100% win rate?

I get in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter but as a killer if i abandon it counts as a loss for me.
Classic example of this being unfair is i had 4 DCs 2 minutes into a game yesterday (not going into that here) and i abandoned as i don't wanna go against 4 bots as its pointless. My stats shows a loss for me, loss for 3 of the survivors and a win for the last one as they got to abandon.

It does not count as a win on the stats tracker, it counts as a void match. no win, lose or draw, just void like the match never happened. This is why on the recent matches list, if you abandon it should just have a blank space where the result should be.

This means the escape rate is not accurate as out of 10 matches where a survivor abandons 9 times but escapes 1 time has 100% escape because it counts 1/1 escape not 10/10 escapes.

Due to the match being void and not a win or loss, it is neutral MMR. The only info we have had on this matter is that BHVR internal stats or different to the stats tracker we see….and a previous comment from a mod stating that abandons dont effect MMR.

It is true, the abandon feature for survivors pops up when survivors are about to lose while it pops up for killer when they are essentially winning…but thats why not many killers abandon.

    Screenshot 2025-12-29 120253.png

This is what i mean by a void match, escapes will say escaped, loss will say sacrificed but abandon will be blank on the portrait.

  • Maybe i do, maybe i dont, you want to continue this weird off topic discussion or should we stick to the topic of the current thread? That being people that DC.

I am also saying that providing no evidence at all not even their own experience does not counter my argument.

That does sound like a roundabout way of saying their experiences aren't valid. And your experiences don't counter anyone else's argument either.

Not at all, i asked if they had their own experiences to suggest a counter to my argument and still nothing has been put forward. Therefore my argument stands, when someone says they dont DC as soon as someone else DC's early in the match, they do try and still fail repeatedly then their experience would be taken on board and we could look into how the experiences differ. But providing nothing, no stats, no personal experience and just saying "your experience is not evidence" is not constructive and is a non argument.

This might be the most pedantic response I've ever seen, but here: no, I'm pretty sure you've never said the words "you're an idiot" at least not on these forums.

But what you do tend to say, in almost every conversation you can wedge yourself into is roughly this:

"Tunneling is a skill issue, you just have to hide." "The killer can't tunnel what they can't find"

And since "hiding" is literally the first thing a new survivor will do, this is incredibly condescending and patronizing from you at best.

Did you use the exact word "idiot"? No. But treating literally everyone who isn't you as though they're complete morons for not "figuring out" what would otherwise be the simplest thing in the game is doing exactly that.

It's just that most people have an ounce of empathy or consideration for other players and are seeking to win as a team and not just "screw you. I got mine".

We've tried hiding, it isn't consistent. It certainly isn't consistent once you've been found. And I have never seen an entire 4 man escape without even a single person being found once. It doesn't work on large scale, which is what nearly everyone tries to tell you about it.

And your response, nearly every time, is to treat us like we're the idiots.

soooo i have not said they are idiots like you claimed i said. glad we got that cleared up.

Offering advice to people that struggle is pretty reasonable, you might not have any actual advice to provide but when others dont have an issue its usually a good thing to say "i dont have an issue with this thing and heres why". No one is forcing anyone to take my advice, i simply say what works for me and if people choose not to take my advice and remain playing matches they hate and get worked up over being tunneled constantly then thats their choice.

Once again, i offer advice on how to deal with these issues so the game is more enjoyable. I dont offer my advice for SWF, they have a full team with comms….my advice is for soloq which does work for me. Cant argue with that, it works for me, thats fact.

Not everyone just throws out unhelpful things like "its impossible" or "game over, nothing you can do about it", some of us here actually offer advice based on what works for us. so this is how it goes:

Survivor - "i cant deal with tunneling, its impossible to counter"

me - "i dont have an issue with tunneling because i use stealth and play selfishly which helps me avoid getting tunneled and regardless of win or lose i get a more enjoyable match"

Survivor - "dont patronize me, im not doing what you do"

me - "fair enough, you deal with it your way….which doesnt seem to be going very well"

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 27
