Extremely situational, especially after the nerf now that you cant trigger it with flip flop.
What! Damn. I was gonna combo it with Flip Flop and Any Means Necessary. That sucks.

Or mods is there a better place to put this question???

I see that a bunch of people are not recommending ghost face because he has no chase potential. Anybody else have any ideas on how I can learn chases better? (Still playing the wraith for now.)

I just tried wraith and uh... that was a nightmare. I guess he takes practice. xD

Thank you everyone for your input!
Do any of you think Windows of Opportunity would be useful even though I don't use it?
-
Toxic post game messages, letting the survivor die when you slug them instead of hooking them so they have to wait out the timer
-
As a Spirit main, I think gen control is your best friend. Yes you're all offense but where do you find the survivors? Gens of course. Thrilling Tremors is great if you don't mind the cooldown and I would go for speed and duration addons.

You guys ( @GoodBoyKaru, @Orion, @APoipleTurtle, @Xyvielia and @28_stabs in particular since you were in my last game thread ) I'm gonna be STREAMING these builds on twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/drrrstrange so you can see them live in action :) If you don't catch me live you can always rewatch the stream.
I'm still taking new submissions so if anyone else wants to submit a build please do!

If you don't want to use Ruin then a plan is not relying on kicking gens for the aura but to use the extra 8m of repair sounds
Honestly the same can be said for pop and overcharge...
Also Surge breaks gens within 32m of you downing a survivor with a basic attack
See that's the thing I like about Surge. The less I have to keep track of and do so that I can focus on the survivors, the better. But pop gives you more regression obviously.
-
@RaSavage42 said:
Depends on what you're running with it
Surge, Ruin, Pop
Also the extra 8m of repair sounds are good and all but to get full advantage of it is to have a plan
If the devs increased base regression, Surveillance would be better
I really like surge or pop; I don't like relying on ruin and with surge I don't have to walk up to the generator and do the thing.
EDIT: Describe 'a plan'?

For survivor I have a build I absolutely love running, cause it's a fun one: Boil Over + Flip Flop + Unbreakable + Tenacity. It's definitely not like other top notch builds and doesn't always work, but it's becoming my main perk build for survivor.
On Killer my must perk is Bloodhound due to my limited attention span, I might lose track of people, cause I get distracted by one thing happening to me.
I just tried this out and it worked insanely well for me, lol, thank you!

On my Pig I use PGTW, Surveillance, BBQ and Nurses.
I prefer Surveillance to TT, but I wouldn’t choose it over BBQ. If possible, run both of them. As BBQ is great for locating survivors and Surveillance is great for tracking which gens are being worked on. It’s also something not many survivors are wary of as you rarely see killers using it.
Interesting. I main Spirit, do you think it would be a good perk on her? I was thinking of replacing corrupt intervention for it.

Yes I'm a Myer's main until I hit that Rank-1. :) I suppose the best way to describe is this to say that you want to manage chases so they involve more than one person. If you herd them right, rather than letting the Survivor entirely pick the direction they want to go, you can have the chase go toward the next Generator and hopefully disrupt it. When I'm playing a Spooky Myers (Scratched Mirror + Boyfriend's Memo) my build (these days) is usually:
Hex: Undying
Hex: Ruin
Hex: Thrill of the Hunt (or sometimes Haunted Ground if I'm feeling sassy)
*And either Sloppy Butcher (if I'm putting in a Map Offering for a small indoor one) or Play With Your Food
This is how it works. In the first 15-30 seconds at MOST I will hear an audible warning that someone touched a Totem OR I will see the Aura as someone passes close to it. In general, I'm already moving up through the center of the map in a winding line to Stalk and wall hack anyone as I move forward. I have a pretty good ratio of doing a Grab successfully within that first rush and I'll pick a Generator with multiple people on it if I can. Grab one and hit the other. Ruin kicks in immediately. Go for the hook. Chase the one hiding nearby because they don't assume I'm Spooky and down him/her. By this point the 1st Generator is popping up but I have already disrupted them a pretty good bit.
Now, if I saw someone go right for a Totem, and not the 2+ on a Gen I will grab that Totem Cleanser fast. Normally they spawned not that far from the rest too, so in grabbing that one my Wall Hack will show me the others too. So I get my locations again. The key to Spooky Myers is you MUST have a location on 1+ Survivors early and then just chase, break off, jump scare, chase and down. They won't know where you are and if you keep them guessing and jumping at every shadow, the Generators are not popping. Ruin will do its work.
To answer your earlier question, I'm not TRYING to protect all my Totems and all my Generators. I'm just looking to cause maximum chaos and paranoia. I am just using the Totems as motion detectors for that initial rush. More to the point, since I don't have Insta-Down (unless I brought Haunted Ground) a Grab is my BEST friend, and I'm VERY good at them. If they are foolish enough to let me get one in the basement and even slightly altruistic.... it gets ugly real fast. I will literally leave the basement area.... act like I don't see them (when I clearly can with the Wall Hack) so they will go down. I can time my return to the Basement really well and Grab while they attempt the Unhook. Wash, Rinse, Repeat. There is no way a Killer can do everything, so you have to pick your battles. Maximum paranoia with a Spooky Myers is often more powerful than an Infinite Tier-3 Maniac Myers because you can just keep getting them off the Generators.
Spooky Myers is slow (and only PWYF helps). So you do need VERY efficient patrols as your Generators start popping. What this means is EARLY in the game I have already picked the 3-Gen I mean to defend. If I'm not on the map of my choice, this is key choice #1 and I generally pick the 3-Gen next to where I cause my first initial grab and panic, i.e. where the Survivors usually spawned or started their work. Largely this is because if I hook one right there and particularly if I get the second there (who tried to hide to do the rescue) I've tied up half their group and the other half is going to work Generators and try to time that first rescue. So I want to pull them into the area I'm going to defend end game as long as possible because it prevents me from having to patrol it and to a degree the areas away. Does that make sense?
*Now when you are being sassy and running Undying+Ruin+Haunted Ground they have a problem. They really need the Ruin gone because if I'm doing my job they have to keep getting off the Generators. But if they go for Totems they might trigger the Insta-Down for me.
I'm gonna end up favoriting this thread so I can look back on this info haha. It's very myers centered but I bet I can apply it to other killers too; I'll try!

Most people on my teams in red ranks don’t really cleanse totems reliably. They might get one or two dull totems if they run into them randomly.
But barely anybody else runs perks to locate totems and I’m usually the one who gets the hexes.
Ironically, despite the meta, I see Inner Strength more often than Detective’s, so I don’t think most people are really adapting
Sounds like a good strategy! I might try Detective's / Inner Strength sometime; do you find time to do gens or do you find yourself running across the map just getting the totems?

Depends. This is actually my favorite Hex configuration running Spooky Myers. It lets me find the Survivors REALLY fast, usually lets me get an initial grab, and has good odds of keeping the Generators regressing as I run people around, homing in on them by the Auras. I know I'm in the minority, but I find this a VERY effective combo.
Usually in the first 15-30 seconds you will hear an audible warning causing you to look the right direction and you will see an Aura even if out of Stalk range. :)
I wonder if it's a good build on Spirit? She zooms to people fast so that helps but her whooshing sound gives her away :\ Maybe I should try Myers. I leveled him up to thirty but I didn't play him to level 30.
-
I like my perks to help me out throughout the whole game, and DS is a one-time shot (that you can sometimes miss.) I personally don't like it but sometimes I run it because if you don't have an obsession I get paranoid that the killer will tunnel.
-
@lowiq said:
To be honest, I think you're focusing a little too much on perk builds.
Like you said yourself, Ruin isn't working for you because you aren't applying enough pressure. No matter what perk build you run, you need to get your basics down before you can effectively utilize it.
Try focusing on things like good macro play, mind games, understanding pallet spawn locations, etc. As you get better at the basics, you will find a perk build that you prefer :).
Killer is harder than I thought! I always feel bad if survivors end up escaping and then the bad feeling just gets worse so I play worse 8(
I'm taking to watching Otz but I don't know who else to watch because I'm a survivor main, my main issue is pressuring gens and missing during my chases (I'm not sure what you mean by macro play, please explain!)
-
@gatsby said:
I roll up to every game with Detective’s Hunch and Inner Strength. And you’d better believe I end up cleansing every single totem by the end of the game.
I almost feel bad for Killers that run hexes against me because they’re just giving me more points and my build more value. Most people think Ruin/Undying is crazy overpowered... I just think it’s extra bloodpoints lol
Curious what you think of other players -- do you think other survivors are adapting this playstyle? Like do you notice your teammates also doing totems now?
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
The thing to keep in mind with that hex combo versus Pop, is that it doesn’t matter if the Hexes get cleansed. It still will have caused the survivors to waste a lot of time.
The thing is, when I run ruin, all the generators get done because I guess I Haven't learned yet how to pressure gens while doing a chase? It's kind of confusing to explain but I guess I should just start one-hitting and then going for a gen to scare the survivors off it?
-
@Moundshroud said:
Yes and no. It is only as good as the Killer is at keeping up Generator pressure. It doesn't matter if Ruin stays up the ENTIRE game if the Killer isn't getting people off those Generators. Do you see my point?
I'm curious as to how you pressure generators while keeping up your totem count AND downing survivors, I know you're a Myers main (right?) so we have different playstyles, but can you expound on how to keep up pressure on three fronts?
On the subject of Ruin+Undying I never trust totems :\ And then I have to manually regress generators myself which takes time. It's... annoying.
-
IMO Oni is better just because I like his story. I already know Myers' story and although I appreciate they put effort into him to me he's just kinda boring to play. Oni has a lot of cool mechanics but I think you're right in that Myers has a better chase.
I don't main either of them (I main Spirit) but I just like Oni better overall.

self-care + botany + desperate measures,
self care at 73.5%, 80.5%, 87.5% or 94.5% depending on how many teamates are injured
Throw in resilience for up to 99% self care
If this is the case then I don't have room for iron will and I'd like it to be in there; which would I take out to put Iron Will in?
-
Wow, a lot more people vouching for self care than I thought there would be.
Self Care + Botany knowledge or Self Care + Botany + Desperate Measures?

Maybe a silly question, but how? I'm in a state right now where I don't even need to touch brown items on any characters because they're all so overflowing with items. All I do is wait to prestige people until I use their good stuff. Unless you're really new at the game, where are your bloodpoints going if you're not able to have even brown medkits available?
If I had Quentin unlocked Pharmacy is a perk I'd probably run because I like niche perks, but not because I think it's actually worth the slot.
The thing is I've been prestiging every character to Tier 3 so I have various people at Tier 3 but my mains have nothing in their arsenals.

That’s a pretty good set for Spirit.
I simultaneously alternate between leveling up 1 new and acquiring inventory for 1 P3lvl50 (or jus lvl50) character.
I’ll save up 1mil BPs, then start leveling up a new character with 100,000BPs, at the same time stocking up the surplus for the P3lvl50’s using 100,000.
As soon as BPs drop to around 800,000 then I’ll keep playing and saving until they’re back up to 1mil, then repeat the process.
I almost never let my BPs drop below 700,000 at any time.
Just a suggestion.
Feels good to always see all that $$$ in the bank.
Dear god, this sounds like such a good idea but is a gigantic grind for me who spends the $$$ right after the game LOL I guess I better start playing. And using BBQ.

This is actually a pretty cool idea.
M1 attack is a strike from nagini on his shoulder.
Special attack could be any 2 or 3 of the following spells: hinders (arresto momentum), disarms (expelliarmus), teleports (apparate) , traps an area causing survivors to scream when entering (caterwaling charm), blinds (lumos solem), breaks gens/doors from a distance (reducto), causes grunts of pain (crucio) or increases survivors breathing, grunts of pain, and footstep noise (sonorousl. There would have to be a cool down between castings
Every time he gets an M1 hit, a horcrux totem appears in the world as a dull totem (new totem spawns so they can't pre cleanse). M1 hits that put survivors into the dying state create 2 totems instead. Once all 7 dull horcrux totems are made, they become lit, no new totems can spawn, and one or all of his spells turns into avada cadavra which instant downs survivors hit with it. If 4 of the lit totems are cleansed, his spell(s) go back to normal. If all 7 horcrux totems are cleansed, the hatch opens.
(Using totems as horcruxes might be too powerful with other totem synergy, so horcruxes could be their own thing that can't be cleansed until lit)
@Peanits for your consideration, seriously, a lot of people would love this

Am trying to imagine what kinds of perks legolas would bring to the game and all I can think about is "we already have sprint burst and lightweight"

Calm spirit would have a lot of value, with a buff and some changes to killer perks, for making survivors scream.
We have to check again, what counters: Freddy (bloodpools), clown (gas bottles), doctor (madness), Trapper (stepping on a trap), infectius fright, dragon grip, deathbound, etc ...
My changes: add a +9% of speed bonus in healing, searching chests, cleansing totems and opening exit gates. And put for example, that Blood Echo makes injured survivors also scream.
For some reason the last game I played with Calm Spirit and Trapper my character screamed anyways. I hope that was a bug and not intentional...

actaully 80 seconds should be enough to get a down... so its not bad sicne probably will avoid getting 2 gen rushed or even 3 after 1 chase... so its not bad at all even at tier 1.
Where are they usually if they're not doing the farthest gens? I should be patrolling the unmarked gens, right?

If you like playing with Spirit, then definitely use Stridor as it can help immensely in locating survivors when phase walking. But for fun if you want the ultimate pallet destroying build, I would go with Enduring, Spirit Fury, and Brutal Strength. This way stuns don't affect you, and you're faster at breaking pallets. But for the fourth perk I would use a gen defense perk, because a good SWF will fly through the gens.
Got it! As gen defense, which ones work besides discordance? I was using tinkerer but someone told me not to use that...

The reason he probably said that is because there is nothing a survivor can do against a good spirit running stridor. That being said, you don't need it if you're really really good at spirit and have really good headphones.
Would recommend Fungoose for streamers.
I mean right now I have no intention of running anyone else but plague and maybe doctor haha. But I hear doctor teaches you bad habits so maybe not him for now; I guess I could run stridor and see how it goes!

As Killer, the two hardest things in this game for me & knowing when to abandon a chase & figuring out what to do in some "unwinnable" loops. Those two things are not mutually exclusive... but I am prone to being stubborn.
In example, as Cannibal, I get worked over on certain windows. Like, to the point where I don't even feel I can hit an M1 sometimes. It's frustrating but really, no advice will be any better than just putting in more game time. Experience is the name of the game, really. You'll get better by doing.
I learned a lot by watching Twitch streamers. I would recommend that.
Thank you! Do you have some twitch streamers you recommend? I'm a survivor main so I mainly watch survivor videos. If you have Spirit main ones, that would be doubly awesome.
