Blood Favor and Spirit Furry Enduring have no synergy. Also on spirit, you can use your ability to ignore pallets so I wouldn't recommend that build. You definitely want to use Stridor on spirit.

I'll expand a bit on the Safe / Unsafe Pallet point.

God Pallets are pallets that you can never hit someone over with a M1 killer even with 99999 bloodlust (e.g., Shack, The Game basement).

Safe Pallets if played optimally by the survivor, you won't be able to hit them unless you have bloodlust. A good starting point for a safe pallet would be the pallets connected to two cars on autohaven. Anything of that length on both sides is generally safe. All jungle gym pallets except for 4 walls are also safe pallets.

Semi Safe Pallets can be mind gamed but may be a little difficult. An example would be autohaven pallets where there's a car on one side and the other side is short with something like trash.

Unsafe Pallets are basically free hits for the killer if they play correctly and don't get stunned. If you want a good indicator, almost every single pallet on dead dog is unsafe.

Obviously against bad survivors, you can hit them through even god pallets so pay attention to the survivors skill before breaking a pallet immediately.

Thank you so much! Everyone seems to have different opinions on stridor. A lot of people (including otz, and even he said he felt dirty saying it) say I should use it, but then I was having a conversation with someone else last night who said it was a "baby" perk and apparently it distorts hearing? I don't want to rely too much on it.

It's fine, but against better survivors you'll want a gen defense perk. See, what makes Spirit Fury/Enduring nasty is when you hit a survivor, they smack you on the head with the pallet and waste their sprint burst, but because of enduring you've already recovered and Spirit Fury has broken the pallet leaving them in a very, very poor position. Blood Favor prevents them from doing this and forces them to run away.

Also as a hex it's privvy to being cleansed instantly at the start of the game if you're not lucky. But work with what you've got really.

I like Corrupt Intervention for giving you breathing room at the start when it really matters, but Discordance is beautiful.

The blood web won't give me corrupt for some reason so I guess I'll have to go with discordance lol

  • image.png

@Heartbound I know this is a weird build, but what do you think? Blood Favor to prevent pallets from going down, and Spirit Fury for if it gets cleansed or when it's on cooldown.

  • @Heartbound said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1668245#Comment_1668245

You generally want to force the pallet down as fast as possible, then break the pallet and leave them injured if they're good. If you keep respecting the pallet, the runner will make another loop around the pallet. Again. Then again...and again.

I ask three questions when I'm in a chase.

Is there an unfinished generator in this area? If no, leave the runner with an injury after breaking a pallet to make the area less safe.

Does this guy want to be chased? If yes, then he's likely protecting generator jockeys. Position yourself so he's always running past generators. This gives you more time by spooking the gen jockeys.

Is this survivor out of options? If there are no pallets left and the area isn't very strong, just finish him off and claim a hook. Having another survivor (or two) be forced to run over and unhook him while you patrol gens gives you a lot of time.

As for safe pallets, you'll learn them with experience. What that means is that there is no way for the killer role to reach the survivor without breaking the pallet. There's three you should really look out for.

The shack pallet, which is the one in the, well, shack.

    There's a pallet loop that looks like this x = land // = pallet

    xx // xxxxxxxxxxx

That's a very safe pallet. Break it immediately. The only killer that can operate that pallet is Nurse.

The third varies, but it's the major landmark pallets. In "The Game" it's the two pallets in front of the basement. Haddonfield has windows in the main house that can turn into infinite loops if the survivor has Balanced Landing. Injure and put pressure on gens instead of committing.

Got it, I'll apply this in my games and I'm sure it'll work out; maybe I can even let go of unrelenting.

  • I just played a game and you guys are right if I just tap the attack button she attacks much faster. Wow. o-o

  • @lowiq said:

Enduring is a decent perk. Will help with unsafe pallets.

In general you want to bait out unsafe pallets without getting stunned and swing through safe pallets.

How big are "safe" pallets? Like the pallets on macmillan's are just surrounded by rocks so those are unsafe right?

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1668134#Comment_1668134

To clarify, if you tap the attack button you'll do a quick short range attack that hits a wide arc in front of you. If you can get close enough you should do a tap attack since it's generally much harder to avoid a hit with it.

To lunge you hold the attack button down to do a charged up, slower attack that has a longer reach. The lunge attack gives you a short boost of speed so your attack range is longer, but the downside is that it also has a fairly narrow attack angle and the survivor can see you charging it up if they're looking for it so it's easier to dodge than a quick attack. I think lunges are best used when you see a survivor is about to get to a vault or pallet and you're not quite in range of a short attack, you can lunge for that little extra bit of distance to get the hit and know that they're probably not going to be sidestepping it.

    Thank you!

If you have it available you can. It's a pretty solid perk if you intentionally plan to tank pallets. If you are going to respect them and play cautiously it can be a waste.

This comes with experience but if you know the map you're on, when you get stunned and break the pallet you can see where the survivor is headed and where the gens closest to him are. You don't have to follow right behind him, just keep his location in mind later and cut him off. Once that pallet is gone, it's gone.

Edit: Enduring/Spirit Fury are pretty fun to use together.

I usually accidentally tank the pallet :\ I don't do it intentionally but I have this mindset that I waste less time just taking the pallet and moving on to the next loop it's better than just looping the same pallet for the whole chase, is that not true?

and if I respect pallets, should I just leave the survivor and find another chase? I spend like thirty seconds circling before I give up and just leave against good loopers, even if they're injured.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/196633/this-seems-like-a-pretty-good-spirit-build

As a person who has played the game for 1500+ hours on both killers and survivors, I can definitely say that there are many other perks that work way better (not that these were horrible).

    Corrupt intervention

BBQ and chili (or thrilling tremors)

    Sloppy butcher

    Pop goes the weasel

(Make sure you know what the perk really does, I am mostly explaining how it helps you.)

Corrupt intervention will help you in the early game and push survivors towards you which is good on Spirit especially since she doesn't have too much leverage in the 1 vs 2+ scenario (her 1 v 1 chase potential is insane when you become skillful with her).

BBQ and chili or thrilling tremors will help you locate survivors who are on gens and will give you a slight bit of stall of 16 seconds if they are not on the generator.

Sloppy butcher will make it harder to stay healthy and make survivors waste a little bit more time not doing generators, which can be crippling to them against the Spirit since her 1 v 1 is so strong.

Pop goes the weasel will help you regress gens effectively (-25% gen progress when kicking a gen while in use) and is a godly perk on any killer, really.

What I will say though is that you could replace sloppy butcher with stridor because it counters iron will. However, stridor make it more difficult to track survivors while phasing because they sound closer than they actually are and is actually harder to use if you are a baby spirit. Then again, if you become skilled with using it, survivors can do just about nothing to get away from you. Just keep in mind that you will have to adjust when using it.

Also make sure you have good headphones. If they aren't that great or have no surround sound, try enabling it using windows.

Thank you so much, I'll keep this all in mind.

Would you say that Otz's suggestion of Pop/Thrilling is a good combo? I find thrilling easier to use than BBQ because I end up losing the survivors.

And I had a question -- why should I not use Nurse's Calling with Sloppy butcher? Is that not a good combo on spirit or?

  • @Heartbound said:

If you tap M1 you slash. If you hold M1 you go into a lunge.

I don't respect pallets and lunge through them all the time. If you hit them, great. If not the pallet is down and the loop is much weaker in that area.

    Should I use enduring? o-o

  • @CarlosRod said:

Hitting survivors had become more difficult just recently and have had to adjust the way I attack to counter.

Attacking at pallets can be done in a few ways. Some say don't lunge just tap attack when at pallets. Some go to one side to appear to be going around but actually hide their character and hold lunge to them move the killer into position to release the lunge and hit the survivor

I... dont' know the difference or how to tap versus lunge. I honestly thought there was just one way to attack with her haha.

Imo TT works way better for finding new targets then BBQ does. Nearly all survivors know how to avoid being revealed by BBQ, but only few bother to play around TT. It synergizes nicely with Pop for far away gens. Sure, if you chase the survs away from a nearly finished gen and then pick one up, it will be blocked so you cannot imidiately pop it. But it will also prevent the survs from finishing this particular gen while you are carrying one to the hook. I had many occasions where this 15s stall prevented the gen form being finished, so I could pop it with just 5s or so waiting time. I would run TT+Pop over BBQ+Pop on all my killers, if it weren't for those sweet BP bonus BBQ is giving me.

Sorry, but what's TT? I'm new to killer so I don't know all the terms yet.

Finally someone who also thinks Stridor is overrated on Spirit. Even against Iron Will it messes up with depth perception and if you play other killers you'll basically be lost.

Question: How do I play around iron will with stridor? Just use scratchmarks?

  • @Awakey said:

First of all, Stridor is a hindrance, continue not using it.

Second, here's mine: BBQ, Infectious Fright, Devour Hope, STBFL.

I have another question if you don't mind, someone once told me STBFL is weak at level one, should I level it up to 2? If so, what would be your recommended replacement?

I have 1k hours on spirit, for context.

Stridor strongly distorts depth perception, so within a certain range you can't really hear survivors distance from you.

Plus, it's a training wheels perk that's hard to play without once you've used it. I'm saying don't use it because you could better utilize that perk slot.

Got it. Thanks! I'm trying your build right now except I switched infectious for nurse's calling. Is infectious effective since her terror radius is smaller?

Pop is completely overkill, your benefit more from a tracking perk. Best ones for spirit are probably stridor, Nurse's, whispers. And in my opinion thrilling tremors is awful and I'd rather use BBQ. It's especially better for high mobility killers.

What about Tinkerer? I'm using your idea and using Nurse's Calling right now though.

Most people in DbD are pretty good eggs. The negativity one encounters here and there isn't really representative of the majority. It is just a very vocal minority that stick out like sore thumbs and twist our perceptions like a fun house mirror. I'm glad to offer help (most people are) and answer any question to the best of my ability. Just remember, it doesn't mean I'm qualified, only that I have an opinion. :)

Right, of course! None of these things/strategies are facts, not even Otz can provide a fact. I'm just trying to take in as much advice as possible so that I can do well and not... suck. The BMing gets to me sometimes.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1665874#Comment_1665874

you said he would want to not kick pallets at all.

this would result in him leaving all kinds of pallets up that will later be used against him, as he wont be able to create deadzones. additionally any survivor who noticed you not breaking pallets will be able to use said pallets in the same chase again by linking multiple tiles together, creating a superloop he wont be able to catch them on unless he starts breaking the pallet, resulting in a huge timeloss on his part.

unless the pallet is super unsafe, e.g. the pallet right next to the dropdown and the staircase back up at Father Campbelles Chapel, or the survivor immediately left the tile and has deadzoned themselves, leaving any pallet up is not a good idea.

and as ive said, if someone just runs you around the map, get as many pallets gone as you can, but instantly switch to someone else when you see the opportunity to. that survivor will have less to work with plus will be lacking the knowledge of where exactly the pallets have been used up, which can result in drastically easier chases. if you left the pallets up however, that wont be the case.

also that zoning you referred to is the most effective WITH breaking a pallet.

you are right, you will want to force them in a different direction than the next pallet is in, but leaving the current pallet up will just result in you wasting more time on this loop, so chase them away from the direction where another pallet is in and then break the pallet down, so they have nothing left to work with. and again, if you broke the other pallets you encountered beforehand, the survivor will be running straight into a deadzone - which once more isnt the case if you just faked the break and left them up.

Sorry to interrupt, but... her. xD

  • @Mister_xD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1665867#Comment_1665867

you will usually be able to tell by the very first tile they run.

if they do it optimally (in a way where they can get as much of your time wasted as possible before getting hit / using up the pallet), you will want to break chase asap and go for them once pallets have been reduced in their numbers, so you can try to catch them outpositioned and secure at least one hit before they can get back to a tile that hasnt been used up.

Okay, so I should wait for one pallet to be dropped within like... maybe two minutes and then break chase. Got it.

  • @Mister_xD said:

idealy you want to do the opposite of that.

unless you know its a very unsafe loop or the survivor immediately left the tile after dropping it, you always want to break the pallet, otherwise its going to come back to bite you in the ace later.

its important to know when to drop a chase though. if you get a survivor who is good at looping, make them drop a couple of pallets to get rid of them and then switch to someone else as soon as you see the possibility to do so.

but leaving pallets up will just keep already used up tiles intact that otherwise could have been a deathsentency for other survivors.

How do you know if a survivor is good at looping? Two loops, three?

Well if you don't have all the Perks suggested, you can't do them. :) But if you are brand new, learning the basics is the most important thing. Builds are just builds. Basics are everything. Learn how to apply Generator pressure, and you do that with the most efficient routes. Learn the difference between a basic attack and a Lunge. And from a Spirit standpoint, learn to mind game by making them THINK you are going to Haunt, and then not do it.

Got it. Thank you for all your time and patience!

Believe me mate, I finished a match with 10 hooks, but my devout emblem was gold, maybe there is a reason to it. Honestly, just play some killer (Freddy, leatherface, Myers with infinite 3, spirit with aura build) or make a build that stalls the game to the point that you have enough time for all those hooks.

Can you clarify 'Spirit with aura build'? I have BBQ, Nurse's, Gearhead, Hex: Undying, Rancor...

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1665773#Comment_1665773

Everyone always says this or that Killer is "easy" but it is rarely true. What is a fact is Spirit is one of the most powerful Killers in the game. You do have to master some basics. Efficient Generator patrols are required to make her work right OR you take Perks which reveal the location of the Survivors so you can land on them like a brick. Surveillance, a Pig Perk, is really good as is Discordance and Tinkerer. I find that Surveillance works exceptionally well with Ruin and Undying, but you must be pushing them off Generators to make it work. The second they stop working the Generator, it highlights one color and the moment someone jumps back on it, you get a big yellow sign that says Haunting over HERE and kill me.

So I think since I'm learning maybe I should just not do this build yet? In another thread I made, someone recommended unrelenting.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1665759#Comment_1665759

Spirit, Nurse, Blight, Freddy, and Hag are all extremely high mobility once you get past their learning curve. Wraith is REALLY fast with the right add-ons (and he will take the right add-ons), and Legion can use their power to cross a lot of real estate too. Hill Billy can also get around the map really fast.

Got it. Everybody says Spirit is easy but I'm finding a lot to learn on her! I guess it's because I just have general questions too as killer. I feel like I'm bothering the forum by asking so many.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1665738#Comment_1665738

Nope. I didn't address who I think is a high mobility Killer. I just said that running Ruin+Undying+Thrill is important to me playing Myers, and that I think it isn't a necessary combination on Killers that are faster, i.e. high mobility. I used to run Corrupt Intervention (an Otz suggestion) to offset that first pivotal 60 seconds where a Myers has to find the Survivors and try to get out of Tier-1 (if I'm not playing Scratch Mirror that is) and it worked well enough. I started using Thrill of the Hunt and Ruin long before Blight's Undying came out, and found it worked even better than the Corrupt Intervention (for me). Once I got my paws on Undying it started working even better.

Sticking to the OP's topic he asked if these four were too much. I answered yes, and suggested dropping NOED. My bias for Thrill came through and I rightfully needed to point out why I use that triple Hex configuration.

I was the OP that asked this question xD Thank you, I'm still learning so I don't know who are high mobility and who aren't.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1665713#Comment_1665713

I've tried both. I guess a better way of explaining this is that I'm not really defending my Totems so much as I'm using them to locate the Survivors, sort of like motion sensors. I always get my first audible cue within 15-45 seconds. If I'm not looking the right away, that allows me to turn and get there quick. Thrill provides that, and slows down the cleansing the MOST at the start of the game when all the Totems are still intact. Undying is there to hopefully move Ruin around, but also for the aura trip wires. This too lets me find them very fast.

I know Hexes are an acquired taste, and you are not the first person to suggest dropping Thrill, but I've tested it so many different ways now that for me at least, this three Hex combination works when doing Myers (any Build). But you are 100% right, I don't run this at all when I'm running any high mobility Killer. It is a waste on them.

Sorry to interrupt, but are you saying Spirit is a high mobility Killer? I watched Otz's video on general perk builds for killers, and he said said spirit isn't a high mobility killer.
