The reference to survivors was just a joke as it's not the first time someone seriously complained about "BHVR not liking fun" when they patched obvious exploits and such. When they removed insta-healing that allowed survivors to heal faster than the killer basic attack cooldown, for example.

Apologies accepted, and sorry for sounding annoyed. Maybe I overreacted a bit.

Well the healing with CoH on Ptb was not an exploid if you mean that...

It was in the game and people found out about it. That's why it didn't go live.

The cooldown for a missed attack is not anywhere near punishing enough. You can be extremely bad and still get another swipe immediately. Makes the skill ceiling ridiculously low.

No, I have to disagree. If you are right at a pallet, you can dodge and drop the pallet and xeno can't do anything.

Also I think you switched skill floor with skill ceiling.

Ceiling is very high in my opinion, where as the floor is fairly low.

Similar to Wesker in my opinion.

I see what you mean, and I know many killers take it as disrespect. When I used to be a killer main years ago, I took it as arrogance as well. Now I look at it as a calculated sacrifice for the team, and understand why people do it.

And it depends. If you have 2-3 people on a gen and it's like 95% done, you've got to finish it. Particularly if it's a strategically valuable one (part of the 3 gen, the centermost gen, last one, etc). Time is the currency in DBD, sometimes you gotta eat that hit.

If it's like 60-70% done? Nah, bail on it and find another. And if you stay on it and can't get it finished? The risk failed.

    As I said: fair play.

But when they do it on the first one, they should not expect me to play nice.

Also.... With adrenaline there isn't much of a sacrifice when you commit to the last Gen.

... Can't believe I have to explain this, but: Are you being able to get on something you shouldn't be able to get on? Yes? It gives you any kind of advantage doing so? Yes again? Then it's an exploit. Or a bug that you are exploiting, if you will.

Still not seeing the fun in that.

Sorry that you had to spend your time to explain that.

Im all on board to get exploits out of the game.

I didn't know that going on the railing was not something they considered. On top, your posts only mentioned survivors "exploiting" the railing so I wanted to clarify that killers could do the same.

    Sorry if I annoyed you.

As a killer, I love survs who commit to gens (by returning to the same one once driven off, even if the killer is still there). It's a function the sunk cost fallacy, and it'll get you killed.

No, I mean committing, you just sit on it in the face of the killer because you know that they are powerless to stop it.

I hate that feeling of being powerless and honestly it's just the same as tunneling in my book but again: it's fair play.

Ohhhhh, so when survivors complains that the game "Isn't fun anymore" what they really mean is "It's not as exploitable as before". Got it.

    What exploit?

You could get on top there as killer as well.

Used it pretty often the get to the hook at the bottom faster.

Love this chapter so much, but the one thing that annoys me. The turrets, so many places where you can't place them and Raccoon City is one map that has the issue

Would be nice if it could be placed anywhere but remove the collision

Am I the only one that thinks this?

Haven't played on rpd yet but on outdoor maps and the game, turrets burned me pretty good....

    Still feeling smokey.

  • First: when I play a super chill game as killer with fun perks and spreading hooks just to get tbagged by the last survivor in the exit gate.

Second: survivors "committing" to a Gen. Never liked it but it's fair play.

  • I guess they didn't like killers slam dunking survivors on the hook down there.

    Will miss doing that.

  • Absolutely awesome map.

Fair tiles, great atmosphere, unique gameplay and special Easter eggs.

What else could one ask for.

  • @Jangles said:

Alright, What's everyone come up with so far? Faking pallet drops ala huntress/nemesis doesnt seem to work too well. Obviously forcing walky mode by using the turrets is the ideal situation, but I'm keen to hear what everyone else has come up with.

I played a good amount so far. From what I've seen survivors do is bait out the tail at pallets similarly to pyramid and the drop the pallet when the xenomorph is in Cooldown. Otherwise I can't say....

Crawler mode is very strong, therefore the turrets are even a thing.

    Feels bad :/

It feels especially bad that they dont even seem to know whats wrong with him. On erie they added little stuff here and there for him. However, this stuff (super small bushes) are not near looks or so out of place that no survivor would ever go through it. Erie remains unplayable as Trapper...

its Not handholding. The greatest dbd team in the world couldn’t even beat the skull merchant! They won but it took them like 55 minutes just to repair the last gen. If the top comp teams can’t repair the gens imagine solo players who are not good at the game.

    Ok....

But give them duplicated perks and green toolboxes with bnps...

How fast do you think they would have beaten her?

They played by their comp ruleset. Without it, I don't think it would have been 50 minutes.

I'd imagine what comes next is playing the game normally and not trying to take shortcuts to circumvent skill expression, personally.

We all know that this is not realistically possible for most killers against an efficient team.

It's such a sad state to be honest.

I used to really enjoy Trapper. Basement camping is super boring.

I'd wish they would revisit their old maps and see why they where good for Trapper and how the textures should he for a real buff to happen.

Extra % penalty to survivors for cooperative actions:

    Repair, sabotage, healing, etc.

Playing with friends is very fun to survivors but stressful for the killers, the excess information counterplay the power of some killers, maybe a extra additional penalty helps to gain time.

    (penalty only affects players swf)

Show SWF on the lobby. (optional)

I think the killer deserve to know how many players playing together for design strategies. (In the game The Texas Chainsaw Massacre the killer can know which players playing together and I not read any complain.)

These solutions to make the game more balanced without handicap for soloQ.

Not possible. Dbd lives of playing with friends. You can't punish playing with friends, even though is it probably one if not the biggest balancing problem in this game.

    This would kill dbd.

Swf is the balancing-hole they digged back when they intruduced it and can't fill it up anymore.

The real unbalance shows when you play a mid to low tier killer against a high to very high level swf. You get stomped.

Although you meet them relatively rarely, i will qoute otz here: you only meet a god nurse very rarely. However that doesn't mean it's fine.

The local comp - swf is, despite it's rarity also not fine.

Sadly nurse is easier to nerf that swf is.

Generator rushing, overpowered premades, map imbalance, tunnelling and camping. These are the core problems that make it so games turn unfun and are not won by skill but exploit. It should be your priority to fix these over anything else so this game finally becomes balanced and fair. Surely, after 7 years you must have a timeline?

It's actually hard to fix some of them. Not as easy as it seems.

Camping or tunneling for example can't be "fixed" without making the killer a bit. If the player wants for focus one survivor you would have to give them literal god-mode for the killer to not down them again. Not possible. You are playing against a human.

The only thing that can be done is to make other playstyles more effective and appealing and then punish tunneling and camping accordingly. This however would have to be a huge appeal for the killer because it would have to be a stronger effect than the slowdown from removing a player.

A very hard problem to solve.

Also... Bhvr is trying to tackle this problem for almost 7 years now.... Ds, bt, deliverance, reassurance, basekit bt and now the upcoming anti-facecamp.

Only problem I see is that they only punish the playstyles without giving an incentive to play differently, which encourages these playstyles even more.

Not necessarily. You should still be applying pressure throughout the match but Endgame builds can function as comeback mechanics if you’re somehow unable to do this. As killer you’re still faster than survivors, you can bloodlust them down if you aren’t for whatever reason able to mindgame or out position them. You can force them to burn through resources as well, all before endgame. The endgame build doesn’t mean you do nothing until endgame. You realize that, correct?

    Yes I do know that.

What I meant is, that I give up my chance of winning in early or mid game and only play for recourses.

For me, this feels bad because I basicly have to admit that I can't win in mid game. Don't like that.

    But everyone has their preferences.

  • @IHSGames said:

They'res only 2 survivors left and one of them are slugged for the 4k.

Its honestly not fun being slugged for the 4k because really, it's just the Killer being greedy. Theres no reason to do so other than BP and bragging rights, youve already won if you hook the survivor and get a 3k. Basically sitting a survivor out of 4 minutes so you can gain the satisfaction of a 4th kill.

And even as the survivor getting chased, unless your Ayrun or something, youre not lasting 4 minutes and any additional time finding hatch. So youre just #########.

So I think when 1 of the survivors is down when 2 are remaining, they should gain unlimited unbreakable basekit. This will make it to where the killer is forced to hook the survivor if they really want to secure the kill or theyll just keep getting up instead of denying a whole game mechanic, aka hatch, so you can get an extra nearly meaningless kill.

On the other hand, its the hatch that even makes the killer slug for the 4k to begin with. They dont want to risk the final survivor getting it.

Have you considered the possibility that there may not be a problem?

Not saying who's right, just asking if you've considered it.

For some killers, yes it is a problem.

    For others it isnt.

Sometimes its also the killers problem, that they made too many mistakes. Sometimes it isnt.

Made for this very rarely outright wins you games. I had that happen maybe twice. I even looked back at the match and yes, i literally lost the match due to this perk.

Again. I will state and stand to my opinion, that this perk is unhealthy for the game just like dh was. It feels horrible to play against, because you cant even tell if they are cheating or using the perk. Sometimes you cant even see if they use the perk at all. It punishes the killer for doing their objective by giving the survivor haste and when combined with resilience also gen- and vault - speed, encouraging the survivor to stay injured. On top of that it hits weaker killers exponentially harder than the stronger ones. The strongest ones dont even care about the haste effect at all (Blight and Nurse).

I main 'chill killers' like Pig/Legion/Clown/Onryo/Freddy/Demo/etc at mid/mid-high MMR (lobbies usually have a prestige level similar to the pic below):

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BS9RYKT7SJIR/image.png

Such games are often sweaty blowouts for either side, or if I'm playing 'nice/normally', a draw at best - I keep my Wraith's MMR intentionally super low to speed through the tome/farm with newbies (I've thrown so many games as Wraith that he may as well be in the MLB).

I also get similar prestiges as my teammates in my survivor games, usually made up of 2/3 person SWF.

I know the perk and some of its combos are an issue because, anecdotally, I play against people that know how to maximize the most efficient meta loadouts (items included) and I also run such combinations when I need to escape a trial/need to boost my MMR back up a bit after losing a few due to tome challenges (like that Sabo one @_@).

There's nothing wrong with running the best stuff on either side and, as I've admitted, I do it on occasion, too - I'm not trying to dictate how people play the game or change anyone's playstyle in these discussions.

I dont dictate anyone either. I just say that this is one hell of a boring combo to play against as an m1 based killer.

Also i would not consider the killers you stated as "chill" most of them struggle too hard, therefore their matches are more of a sweat fest than the ones of the stronger killers.

(Prestige says nothing about the players skill btw.... Only that they play alot.)

No doubt some killers have a hard time against 4 strong survivors on overly safe maps. Pig, Myers, Wraith, etc, can struggle. Most of the basic M1s have tools to somewhat balance that, like Pig's head traps.

The problem is most people's solution is to buff killers across the board because 5 or so killers are significantly weaker than the rest of the roster in a specific MMR bracket. If you make buffs solely to bring killers like Myers up a tier, you're also moving every A tier killer up to S tier.

By all means, buff Pig, Myers, and every killer without chase tools. But keep in mind even killers like PH or Demo can turn almost every tile into a drop the pallet or die situation when they're played well.

Thing is, you have to get one down to start your game as pig. I have to place my traps.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3525794#Comment_3525794

And a majority of Killers have mobility to counter that and if they don't, they have some way to shut down loops or to make being injured a risk.

As a pig main, i learned to understand that my stealth is a detriment on most maps. Especially when survivors become very efficient. Im sure you know that.

Also, some killers actually neither have the ability to close the gap, shut down loops or making injured a risk. Perfect example beiong Myers. You know that as well as i do.

If all we play are stronger killers, sure. No problem. However, there are killers that seriously struggle. Not saying pig is one of them, because, as you said, most survivors are potatoes.

Begs the question: what happens when you encouter a strong group?

Let me tell you, because i meet them pretty regulary, i lose 3 gtens for my first down.

Competent survivors also know where to bring each chase with MFT / where it is strongest on most maps, not just Grim Pantry, and will often start to trek there before chases even begin.

As you said, you need to commit at some point or you lose.

I'm under the impression that the perk will be nerfed in the next mid-chapter patch once sales die down from the previous chapter.

I know its not just grim pantry. Was just an example.

I personally dislike the perk, because it hits weaker killers exponentially higher than stronger killers and because it has two effects that dont really have a downside (being injured with resilience + made for this makes you arguably a stronger survivor that being healthy).

But thats just me. Everyone has their own opinions. I would love the game to be about smart pathing, predictions and good mindgames on both parts instead of shift w + predrop. Its just boring to me.

There are few times in a match against normal players where you HAVE to chase in an unfavorable position.

It's one of the most important things to learn as Killer. Don't let Survivors dictate where you chase them at.

    I know that.

I would like to remember you that a survivor with made for this reaches shack from any position on the grim pantry. Just one example.

I know how to play. I also try to stay realistic. I have to sometimes chase people in unfavourable situations. Otherwise i wont get a down.

This is killer specific, but as pig, i have nothing until my first down. If i leave my first chase too often i WILL lose the match.

I dont see that Windows is a Perk which tells you how to play, but rather where to go for ressources. If you have a few hundred hours in this game you dont need Windows to know where you find Pallets or Windows. What you dont know is where your teammates have removed ressources.

And yeah, I play mostly M1-Killers. So I know how ot play against those Perks and I dont even care if I lose because most of the time I lose because I make mistakes or because the other side is just better. The difference is that I dont throw a tantrum.

ok, i have 3000h in this game and main pig. I dont say that i lose against this perk combi (well sometimes i actually do, but it happens rarely). However. THIS ISNT FUN TO PLAY AGAINST. This is my point. Dh was unfun to play against. Made for this is unfun to play against.

And yes. Windows is a perk that gives you distinct instructions on how to play. I did an experiment a few weeks ago where i played with the face mask - addon (piggies blindness addon) and wanted to see how players played against me. The result: some survivors played really good regardless, probably players like you that dont need it. Others where completely hopeless (they had the perk) They didnt know anything about pathing, looping or whatever. They told me that they had huge problems playing against me. These are your regular pre droppers and shift w - players. They dont look behind them, they just follow the yellow boxes and interact with them.

    Windows has two functions:

Good players: use it to know what recources are left

Less skilled players: use it as a game manual and turn their brain off.

Sadly i feel like i encounter the second type more often than the first because i genuinely enjoy a good chase. Running after survivors like a bot because they have this perk and stop thinking isnt fun though.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

If they are infinites you seem to run them horribly wrong. But yeah, it is Made For This, Resilience and Fast Vaults.

But dont worry, the Devs revert the Fast Vaults, because good vaults are not allowed here. Just swing it windows when you are nowhere near them, the Survivor will get set back for you =)

Killer has to play better. Agree, could be the problem.

On the other hand, survivors literally have a perk that tells them how to play .....

Also, have you played against a made fo this + resilience + windows ace as an m1 killer like pig? It feels horrible. We had dh with the stupid waiting game now we have this where you cant even get into the position to get a hit a lot of the times. Porblems just change, they dont go away.

But that means giving up mid and early game entirely.

I just want to hear how this is even slightly fare? Or what your even supposed to do agents this build? Cause I’m at a lose for how to even deal with that?!? But let’s nerf more survivor perks right? Let nerf stuff that only gives you like a 4 percent boost to thing for survivors, but let buff all the killers? I’m so sad to see how this game has gone from being balanced to just nothing you can do agents a killer with the right perks and addons. There is literally nothing you can do? It’s just really sad an amazing game turned so toxic agents the survivors. Like I get it’s not supposed to be a cake walk but half the games are just way to hard especially when I don’t dump irl cash to get the dlc perks, so I’m stuck playing agent player with the best perks and I have no way to even slightly stall or counter. Ty for listening to me rant a bit. Over all I just want to know how to deal with gameplay like that, I remember the old Dbd where things were mostly balanced on both sides some broken things on both as well, but now the most broken thing for survivors is a 3% haste MFT?

Did you get destroyed by a tuft of hair myers?

    Little advice....

    1) he takes very long to get there. Myers has a horrible early game. Rush him and he will have a hard time (soloq can be pain here)

    2) you can stay injured. You know he's downing you anyway, therefore you can just stay injured and use one of the strongest builds right now. Resilience with made for this and something like windows of opportunity or adrenaline. Myers has no map transversal. Therefore you can do gens fast and he can't do anything about it because he has to walk up to you.

    3) When he starts camping you, yes. There will be no unhook. But if this happens, you failed at 1 or 2. Then you need to accept that you will be sacrificed. You team needs to rush the last gens and get out.

    4) Myers is an m1 killer. In Tier 3 he has a stronger lunge and a faster vault. That's it. If you have made for this, run straight to every pallet and pre drop. You will see that your chases will be much longer if played right.

    5) His addons and Michael himself have been in this sad state for a very long time. This hasnt changed.

    6) be happy that he has tuft of hair and not tombstone piece + j myers memorial

    7) win the match.

I understand the sentiment. On some maps with the wrong killer, chases are literally unfair.

I worded my comment wrong. I think the RBTs themselves are fine; what I should have said is, "Nerf some of Pig's problematic add-ons (tampered timer stacked with crate of gears) and [slightly] improve her chase potential."

I think she's in a decent spot, just needs some QoL changes.

    Agree

I personally have nothing against BMing or trying to give the Killer some Bloodpoints, but I just really think it wastes so much time and can sometimes just be unnecessary.

Like I can understand waiting in/near the gates for Teammates, but if all 4 Survivors are there (or it is abundantly clear that all Survivors are in a safe position), you can just leave; save everyone the time and trouble, escape early so you can get more Bloodpoints at a faster rate.

Again, the BM doesnt bother me, Idc if people tbag or flashlight click, moreso I just dont like my time being wasted.

    Proposed change:

    • If all remaining survivors are standing in the exit gate and dont leave within 10-15 seconds. The killer calls upon the entity to block the exit gate for the rest of the endgame collapse.

    TBAG THIS XD

Pig's RBTs should be nerfed and her chase potential should be improved imo. It would be nice to see her as a more well-rounded killer rather than relying solely on slowdown.

My friend...... Her slowdown is the part that is nicce about her. If you want to nerf her traps.... I would say, make it so that when you are at the last box, your trap cant kill you anymore. Seems like a small nerf but would have a huge impact believe it or not.

To buff her i would straight up make her stealth 100% default and leave the johns medical file as it is.

    On top of that:

    • Roar on ambush not on charge
    • Ambush needs to be longer (Last will basekit)
    • maybe higher speed of ambush as well.

These are my short two points....

Piggy is fun. Pls dont ruin her.
