You really can't care about winning right now to enjoy solo survivor. It just isn't going to be a good time.

However, I have found an incredible amount of success with a healing build. Healing is incredibly difficult to come by right now, unless you have a juicer on your team who specializes in it.

Bring a medkit with double charges.

Empathy - Lets you see injured players.

Renewal - Lets you save medkit charges for your teammates.

Plot twist - Lets you save medkit charges for your teammates.

Streetwise/Built to last - More medkit charges. Prefer Streetwise as it can be hard to deplete large medkits to get use out of BTL.

Can also just run an exhuastion perk here instead of more changes.

The game plan is simple, keep your team healthy. Don't waste charges on yourself if you can help it. Plot twist can be used twice, once before gens and once after they are done. Plot twist is my favorite perk in the game, it can be used in chase if you like to be a risky rat gamer.

I tried a gen rush build to beat Xeno but it ended up being this build that beat her the most often. Many killers are running Sloppy butcher right now and are banking on you staying injured. Ruin their game plan.

That sounds interesting. Gotta try it out. Thanks!

My looping skills are mid. The faster weapon wipe, the short speed burst, the longer gen repair times, faster pallet breaking times all contributed to make the killer more overbearing and matches much less successful. Before 6.1 my looping skills, could occasionally loop a killer of my skill level until they gave up. Better killers could still get me down in 1 tile, so <15 seconds. Now all killers win the chases against me in less than 20 seconds, unless I burn every single pallet on the map. Holding 'w' is not a fun chase mechanic for either side, its just what there is.

The increase in generator time gave rise to the worst period of camping and tunnelling the game has ever seen in my 3 years of playing. For some reason these strategies are super effective, so killers learned the wrong lessons (camping = victory). Maybe that isn't true, at Otz, JRM, or OhToFu levels of play, but is demonstrably true at mine. And despite what most people may think, this is not fun!

    Im sorry to hear.

Sadly the only advice I could give you is to improve your looping.

I know this sounds dumb and generic.

The changes in 6.1 where done to help out killers that struggle hard. Sadly the ones that already had chill games got stronger as well. Camping and tunneling sadly got buffed because ds was nerfed and spreading hooks was disincentivised due to the nerfs to ruin and pop. Soloq again got punished the hardest.

Im sure that you know but if you struggle hard with tunneling use ofr or ds (still good if it's not a nurse, Blight or spirit). Even dh is still a solid anti tunnel perk combined with the other two.

I appreciate your dislike for shift w though. Agree that it is the most boring way to play the chase.

  • I still can't edit my profile or even access it. Can anyone help?

Would love to have a profile picture.

  • @camping_site said:

So we are a few months in after the major self-healing nerf and it is so bad for soloQ. I play Dbd since 2019 and nothing what was done before has had such impact on the outcome of a trial. The combo of proxy camping, tunneling, increased gen repair time, time consuming (if at all) self healing paired with at least mediocre tier A killer is just devastating. Honestly, I get out alive 1 out of 5-7 trials.

I think there is a reason why developers haven't published kill stats. I bet for Wesker kill rate is near 80% and they just don't want to deal with it. Side note - he is not OP, but reasons for that deserve another discussion.

Please devs revert changes on Medkit or Self-care. We can keep CoH burried if killers feel it to be too oppresive.

If you can't play without your 3 second global self heal in CoH I'm sorry but : no

  • Remove the haste effect.

I'm fine with it being an anti slugging perk that is used for altruistic actions to help out the team. The haste effect hurts weaker killers exponentially more than it does strong killers.

You could give it another fun effect like cleansing totems faster or opening chests faster to give it synergy with other healing perks like inner healing and pharmacy.

  • I write it in every end game chat.

I do it after games I lose and games I win.

It's a matter of good sportsmanship.

Here's my idea that I would love to see implented:

I think there should be a killer filter for players playing survivor that would allow those players to avoid lobbies of matches of killers (as in killer characters) they can't stand to play against. Why should players be forced to play against killers they hate and have no fun playing against?

I know of many players (including myself) who have gotten so sick of playing against the Alien for example that they don't even want to play survivor anymore. A filter like this would only make it take slightly longer to connect to a match against another killer who is not on the filter list and even if the wait time is considerably longer, it would be worth it for those who choose to use the filter. It of course would vary from player to player because some hate for example Pinhead, others Skull Merchant, Wraith, Wesker, Knight, etc so it wouldn't be like everyone putting the same killer on their list. And if for some reason they do put a certain killer on their list, then it would show that there is indeed a problem with that killer and would be a good feedback mechanism to implement changes to make it more fun to play against such killers that get filtered out.

The filter would be optional of course so that players who like playing against all killers could continue to do so by leaving the filter empty. It wouldn't be much different than disabling crossplay which a lot of my fellow PC players do because they hate the way console players play. Those players are willing to endure longer queue times just to play against other PC players.

Like I said above, it would provide good feedback of killers that need tweaking (when too many players filter out a given killer or set of killers). I think it could save the game from players quitting it and save a lot of DCs or players killing themselves on hook and would improve the solo queue experience because playing with bots is not fun. Sure it wouldn't stop camping or tunneling, but at least it would make things more tolerable if there's a killer someone dreads going against.

I also think such a filter system should definitely allow the filtering out of players playing killer so that if you have a disgusting match against a certain killer player, you can filter that player out so you'll never face them again. I've had nights where I played against certain toxic killer players multiple times a night (sometimes even in consecutive matches) and they got more toxic the more I played against them.

And likewise a survivor filter can be added for killer players who get toxic survivors they would rather not play against again, though at least with killers, they can severely punish such survivors the next time they play them so it's not needed to the degree that a killer player filter is.

Filtering out killers makes people quit the game.

You shouldn't punish players for playing with their friends and you shouldn't punish players for playing their favorite character.

Pre 6.1 no contest. Before that patch, I actually had fun playing as survivor. I actually escaped sometimes, the game felt better balanced at my MMR. I may be a trash player, but I get stomped all the time in the current game. As a consequence, I play way less. I used to be good for 3 or 4 nights a week of 4+ hours.

Now, I check out the new patch on twitch, and inevitably decide to pass.

I still play, but very infrequently. This was a holiday weekend in the states, I think I got 1 hour of tunnelling, slugging, and just damn overwhelming killer play. I literally don't recognize the game anymore.

What was so different for you before 6.1?

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

DbD become very different game after 6.1.0 update. Both sides lost their meta perks. Both sides got some base-kit buffs.

So if you compare pre-6.1.0 DbD with current DbD, which one you would prefer?

The Version of dbd right before end transmition and after the healing changes. Dbd felt like it was on a good path. I think the introduction of MfT and other endurance effects have hurt the game overall.

Pre 6.1 was old dead hard with hit validation. That with it's 70% pick rate is a clear no go for me. Never want to go back to that.

I would like to see ds unbreakable again though. I like survivors doing stuff in my face more that survivors finishing the gens in new record times.

That being said: my casual pig build hasn't changed much to be honest. It was stbfl, Bbq, surge and Discordance before and it is Stbfl, Bbq, surge and lethal pursuer now. Not much difference. But I didn't really use the overused killer perks soooooo.... I generally liked 6.1

Oh I do know but I don't have much fun playing Killer I actually enjoy Survivor gameplay more and I will be coming back :)

Killer is a lot of fun. Try it. Dbd is much more fun when you see it from both sides.

  • @GoofyGooberRock said:

It was great that they added the new vaults to the game as it felt like hey! I can actually vault and the killers don't get a stupid hit on me now when I actually exit the window fully

But now there are not even fast vaults anymore just medium vaults it isn't even fun I wish they would fix everything completely instead of breaking vaulting and hey you got out this window? too bad your fast vault is the same speed as a medium vault now and the killer can easily hit you now haha

I think for now I'm going to switch to another game until it seems like things are fixed and come back when things get a bit better

Sorry for the rant but I hope you guys have a good day

    Ok....

You do know that this game has two roles right?

If survivor isn't your thing right now: try killer. The new Xenomorph is very fun to play. Especially using the tunnels.

Otherwise, enjoy other games. There are a lot out there. Dbd will still be here for you if you want to play again.

  • Still gonna like the killer. I dont have a problem with a weak killer. The sound and visual design is absolutely stunning. That sells it for me.

  • You actually encountered a chess master?

She's pretty rare to face according to nightlight - stats.

That last part is where I am at.

This is a game, this is supposed to be fun. I play the game to take a break from stress and such in the real world at work.

This game is no longer fun 7 of 10 matches since it will be Xeno.

So, now I play less and have to find a different game for fun. I still wish the Devs would give the survivors the chance to see the killer just like the killer sees the survivors. Perks are locked for both sides before you see who you are up against (so all the people saying perks can hard counter certain killers) but it would give people a choice. I think it would be an interesting experiment much like the hiding prestige experiment. Be interesting to see how the player base as a whole feels about certain killers. If I'm a developer of this game, I would want to see what killer is dodged constantly and try to figure out why.

    This goes two ways:

Killer does objective fast = survivors have no fun

Survivors do objective fast = killer has no fun

Killers power is strong and gives possibility for success in many situations = survivors have no fun

Killers power is weak and does not give possibility for success in many situations = killer has no fun

Killer disrupts the survivors doing their objective = survivors have no fun

Survivors disrupt the killer doing their objective = killer has no fun

I main pig and 9/10 matches are a complete sweat fest because the power is "underwhelming". I lose 2 - 3 gens for my first down VERY often. I have survivors sending me to their comfort maps VERY often.

I do win most of these games but I can't say they are fun matches.

I can say the same for killer.

I main Pig for the most part. 9/10 matches that I play are sweat fests where survivors finish 2 - 3 gens before my first down, deny me my first down with bodyblocks, "commit" to gens in my face, send me to maps of their choice and run the best stuff possible.

I do win these matches but do you think it's fun for me?

Xeno is a fun killer to play because you feel like you have the ability to do something in most situations. Same with Wesker and Blight. Guess what? That's why you see them this often.

These killers are string enough so that the killer player can have fun.

    It goes two ways.

Survivors do objective very fast = no fun for killer

Killer does objective very fast = no fun for survivor

You can assess how weak the turrets are compared to Xeno’s tail whip because they’re not bugged. They’re mutually exclusive and are part of the problem.

They are bugged though. There are many instances where you hit them and they dont break. When you as the Xeno come out of a station, turrets are on cooldown for a few seconds. If you hit these turrets on cooldown, nothing will happen. You will get your hit cooldown and the turret will activate. Then it will blast you while your are locked in cooldown, making you lose crawler mode. I have made it a habit to just wait in front of the turret until it activates and the hit it. This wastes a TON of time.

If this is intentional, it feels absolutely horrible.

DH is still a popular perk since it pairs really well with MFT.

Unless I’m playing against memers, there’s usually one DH each game.

Your not alone. I see it particualty often since Xenomorph dropped.

He's not that easy to play. He's easy to pick up but against good teams, they can struggle hard if not played correctly. I'd say Xeno is around pyramid head level right under Wesker. Easy does not have to say weak or strong.

The hardest killer in this game is probably Hillbilly and he's not that strong. Nurse on the other hand is way easier than most people claim her to be and she is still since her release the strongest killer in dbd.

You are absolutely correct on that one.

I apologize to @radiantHero23 , I really oversaw the "A". I would agree on that one, I would see him mid to high A-Tier, but certainly A-Tier.

They are definitely a tier. Everything beneath would he wrong. The correct placement is debatable though.

Could we please stop going to the extremes and first talk about it? Personal insults have no place here.

  • Are you kidding me?

Did you just say that Xeno is stronger than Blight?

    Now that's a hot take...

I would say this killer is around the level of Pyramid head and Oni. If this is what you call pay to win... Ok....

Dont really know what kind of brainfart someone must have to rate a Killer which is "not really dependent" on Perks or Add Ons as "mid to low tier". Not having to rely on Perks or Add Ons would bring Xeno to Nurse-Level, because she is basically the one Killer who does not need to rely on Add Ons or Perks.

Xeno is not Nurse-Level, but very likely a Top 5-Killer.

First, pls keep it civil. I dont insult anyone based in their opinion either.

Second, you misunderstood me. What I meant was, that this killer is able to use all kinds of builds. Xeno is not dependent on certain perks. He is dependent on perks in general.

Myers for example is dependent on corrupt intervention in my opinion.

Considering the information you can gather from tunnels, their placement, and all that it can do mobility-wise, what to you stops it from being equal to, if not stronger than Blight/Whiskey in terms of tier

Yes. Blight has WAY better addons. On top, Blight does not need to lose time to go into a tunnel. He can just rush right away. Blight is also not dependent on fixed locations to appear from. Blights map mobility is also his way of attacking, making him more efficient that Xeno.

Last but not least, both Wesker and Blight can get their power negated by survivors and don't have a deterrence - mechanic to play around. They can just go and hunt.

  • Mid to low a tier.

Not really dependent on perks or addons but can struggle hard against a very strong survivor team.

In terms of fun: very fun. Easily the most fun killer since Wesker. Not hard to pick up but relatively complex when it comes to figuring out and timing the tail Hitbox.

That's why i said he is next to Wesker.

There is no killer on Blight and Nurse's level.

Xeno does not need big changes, i already posted what problems he has. I think he is very bugged atm. And he just need some QoL changes. That's all.

The things you propose are big though.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3532927#Comment_3532927

I think the thing you mentioned is also bug. He should hit turrets whenever out from tunnel, it just does not makes sense if he can't.

So i am expecting this bug will be fixed too.

    I hope so

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    1. I don't know if this is bug or not but his biggest problem is missing tail hits is so forgiving. He is not losing distance. If this is bug, fix will happen. If it is not bug, he definetly need be a bit slower when he miss tail attack. And he is building bloodlust as well when use power, i am sure building bloodlust is 100% bug.
    2. Xeno has strong camp & tunnel potential. I noticed a lot of them are hiding in tunnel and then out immediatly whenever hook save happen. Similar to Dredge, block closest tunnels to hook for few seconds. They can enter ofcourse, they just can't teleport back. Only for few seconds. Dredge is good example here.
    3. It's really so hard to tell if he is gonna use power or not. If warning become more clear, survivor can act better.

Bonus: This one will be QoL but turrets can not be placed everywhere. This is really big problem in indoor maps. So making them placable to more places will be better.

Besides this, i don't think he needs more changes. Without his bugs, we can test his real strength again.

This is all from a survivors perspective.

I would love to see the thing go where you can't hit turrets after you exit a tunnel. It feels horrible to see one, hit it, don't destroy it and get blasted in return, losing your power.

I think the tail is fine as it is. If the turrets are supposed to stay, the power has to he's very strong to warrant their existence.

I regards to the missed attack cooldown speed, yes. I think it should be toned down a bit.

  • @JoaoVanBlizzard said:

Of course it's OP, it's super broken, in addition not everyone will be using a calm spirit waiting for this perk to appear in the game, another detail, it's the same thing as the locker safe, it was enough for the killers to use Lightborn, but the devs still nerfed locker safe, people at the time didn't want to remove the barbecue chilli to put a perk to not be blinded by the flashlight, you need to be less selfish, always see both sides, everyone wants to have fun

If you want, there are no turrets that can't be M2'd before they get you out of power. Just focus M2 instead of M1 for turrets and tell me if you ever lost your power. So far I lost it once to double-turret where I forgot that cooling off takes some time.

I agree that you need strong ability to warrant counterplay. But counterplay that does nothing means it's not counterplay. It's waste of time.

    But it does something.

  • No, you can dodge it if your smart and the Xeno makes some mistakes. Same with demo, Nemesis, Pyramid head, Huntress etc....

If you just run in a straight line and don't look behind you, yes you will get hit and downed very fast.

I've had survivors delay me a lot.

You will go down as survivor yes. But that the point of the game. You are supposed to go down eventually. Your job is to delay the killer as much as possible.

I wasn't sure where to post initially and have since posted in the bugs forum. It was discussed above. As for being stuck in place, what I meant is if you didn't switch from Charlotte to Victor the bug wouldn't engage. I'm not giving excuses for them, I wasn't even playing then. I'm simply stating that there was a work around for that particular bug, even if it was unfair. Everyone could technically still function as long as the ability wasn't used. There is not a work around for not reaching a hook because a killer can full block it. As for the awareness issues, the more people it reaches the faster it gets fixed. How is this harmful?

It's harmful because more people will use it.

Was the same with other exploits. Why do you think the bloodpakt + object of obsession combo was so popular?

Because people play the perks that often?

I see it like I see Huntress hatchets:

    • Is she going to fire straight ahead?
    • Is she going to predict me strafing left/right?
    • Will she immediately throw towards the vault or hold the hatchet and wait?

The tail/whip/PotD/Shred all follow similar and slightly different principles.

The attack itself is strong, but you need to get inside the head of the Killer player. Do they fall for baits? No? Then go straight for vaults/baits and mix it up to keep them on edge. Are they new and not very accurate? Mix in short baits and long baits since they will probably attack as soon as they can.

It’s a mind game against good players and an easy bait against not so good ones. That’s how I see it. I’ve went against good survivors that have done pretty well against the tail. It is, to an extent, a skill issue.

Thank you very much for your efforts.

    Much appreciated.

I do get what you mean, but it's different because without switching the bug wouldn't be active, and basic attacks still worked fine. In this instance, a killer can see survivors with their base perks and anything else they add on, and it's a guaranteed 4K. I'm not saying I want Alien removed, it would be devastating the community, but if they can't hotfix it and people exploit it like crazy it's going to be chaos and could really harm the player base.

I was literally stuck in place. What do you mean that was fine. I shouldn't have used twins power at all? I should have predicted that they got bugged? Sorry that's no excuse. The killer should have been killswitched. They where literally unplayable.

I haven't seen a Xeno that bodyblocked a hook until now. I would say that talking and discussing it here actually spreads the news and makes things even worse than they are.

I think a post in the bug report section would have done the trick.

Go against the Xenos I have and I promise you some YouTube video of survivors going against a new killer won't help.

    Do you have video material?

Would love to learn something from these god-tier xenos.

Alien is too good and easy to use on pc so he should get nerfed. But on console he could use a buff. He is significantly more harder to use. Like other killers you need to aim. Aiming with mouse is superior with whole hand than just with one finger on controller.

He's too good and easy to use, therefore must be nerfed?

    Excuse me?

It's a strong killer with counterplay and a hitbox that can be kinda difficult to hit with sometimes if not understand correctly.

I can say the same about nurse: she's too good and easy, therefore should be nerfed.

  • Yes it did, but it was also extremely overturned due to the other buffs in 6.1

Toning it down made it useless. This perk needed a rework.
