Well, that's what happens in the film. And if you don't remove the reverse bear trap you'll die as well... still don't get it.
Please read the other posts in this thread. Im currently also searching for my ptb feedback because im exhausted repeating myself.

Because they have to interact with Tapes if they don't want to be mori'd.
Because she requires way less skill, is disproportionally stronger against solos and still sluggs players for moris. Maybe even more than before.

your one of the only player that talks about rework negatively. Your post widely misunderstand a lot of change thought behind the killer. The first one being is global condemn. the problem 16 meter of condemn was that corralling survivor into TV was very difficult. Small maps that had double floor like Gideon heavily favoured Sadako while larger outdoor maps were a dice roll for carolling survivors into TV's. Global condemn was to make Sadako less map dependent.
Another weird misconception is that you cannot play new sadako like old sadako. this is not true. you can play old sadako in new sadako. you get shorter tv cooldown's and can teleport more often on average compare to old base-kit.
Right now it's doesn't matter how good you are as survivor in that regard. Your getting condemned all the same.
this is not true at all. how good you at looping m1 killer greatly decides how quickly sadako m1 the tape out of your hand. Because Sadako has to m1 survivors with tapes, Predicting televisions is not sufficient enough to to be successful. you need to teleport to a tv and hit survivor from TV teleport. Just like you describing corralling survivors into TV's teleports, you do same thing with current survivor holding tapes but like you said, counter-play is very easy to 180. In old sadako, you did not need to hit survivors with each teleport. you only needed to teleport in 16 meter radius. that is why onepumpwillies strategy of 3 gen was so effective. You have to do gens and TV spawn near gens. If you played in 3 gen play-style, you had no control over avoiding condemned. you had to finish 3 gens to power gate. This was only way to remove rng component of the map. there was like... almost no skill component to the sadako. with iri-tape, you could mindless spam teleport's with almost no consequence or thought process behind any teleport. Your only limitation to teleporting was getting a hit here and there just to reset 4 TV's. this was very easy play-style that even new player could have great success.
Old Sadako had to monitor all tvs to see when and where someone picked up a tape and predict where the correct TV for the tape was.
Current Sadako still monitors TV's. This skill is more pronounced in her kit because tv are constantly being turned on and off. The problem with old kit was that... condemn was lackluster in build-up that nobody needed to pick up a tape. it just simply wasn't required. If anything, picking-up a tape was death trap because sadako could stay 19 meters away from survivor and follow survivor. Whenever they try insert a tape, you TP to TV to cancel the tape insertion. you would keep doing this until 30 second condemn timer automatic builds condemn. This was very cheesy. it was almost as cheesy as Pig following you with active head-trap. Some player refer to this as "tunneling condemn sadako strategy". you can see showcase of this with Otz who put a video about this for old Sadako for how he best found to use condemn to kill people. there wasn't much tape-gameplay going on with old Sadako.
In any case, I do not expect sadako to get buffed. I would expect her to be nerfed because she likely over-performs vs poor teams.
You misunderstand my points. Again.
If Sadako teleports right now. What do you do to prevent getting condemned? You grab a tape. Anything else? No. You cant do anything about it.
3 gens are not as effective anymore. The perks making it insanely strong are not as good anmore and there will also be a new mechanic punishig killers that 3 gen from the get go.
"Tunneling" a survivor with a tape was the reward. Your correct that nobody interacted with a tape. Therefore the Sadako had to put a lot of effort into condemning survivors effectively. When you finally had worked enough, the survivor (or more survivors) would pick up a tape. This was your time to shine. This was when you needed to kill that survivor. Was this as uncounterable as you claim it to be? Not by a long shot. Good teamplay prevented a lot of it. Bodyblocking a survivor inserting the tape worked extremely well. Now i hear you say: " sadako could go through survivors though!". Correct. But if the bodyblocker was close and placed him-/herself correctly enough to the survivor inserting the tape, autoaim and hitbox would always let you hit the bodyblocker. I tested it out. I played her a lot. I tested her a lot. I knew her well.
I dont think i misunderstood anything about her rework. I played her a lot on the ptb. Gave my feedback and got a lot of suppoert from youtube and here on the forums. The condmning in chase is fine. I didnt say anything about that. I even supported these changes enabling alternative ways to condemn survivors on the ptb. But you cant read what i wrote anymore. I didnt want the whole rework to be reverted. I wanted some unhealthy parts of it reverted.
What was bad:
- global condemned
- Sadako losing chase when demanifested
- Tapes no longer giving passive condemned
- Cooldown on teleporting constricting her fluid gameplay
- deleting carrawling survivors into tvs as a skillful interaction (apparently thats too hard now?????)
- Probably some more but i cant remeber what i exactly wrote almost 5 MONTHS AGO
- Addon pass doing nothing to her useless addons and nerfing reikos watch for no reason
- Change to Iridescent video tape, incentivising slugging
- Survivors being able to put their tape in every TV
What was good:
- Tapes getting destroyed when hit
- Cooldowns switched and reduced drastically
- Sadako not being able to be stunned when demanifested
- Nerf to ring drawing, disincentivising slugging
- Tapes getting destroyed for hooking (got changed!)
- Nerfing Iridescent video tape
For all those in this post who want to see me as an antagonist right now: I sat down for over 5 hours to write and discuss a whole addon pass with tons of ideas and suggestions for fun, strong and creative addons. I WANT THIS CHARACTER TO BE BETTER. NOT WORSE.

This is all they do anymore. Changes for the sake of changes. Devs spend entirely too much time listening to the wrong people. They never let anything breathe. *New perk released* "IT'S TOO OP CHANGE IT" Then they do and they either 5 other things break and have to be killswitched, or the butterfly effect is in play and other perks start getting used more or less or their unique ability plays a different role. "PERK IS TOO UNDERPOWERED BUFF IT" "REWORK THIS"
The hardcore player base remind of the smarks in wrestling for anyone who watches. They're insufferable and completely out of touch with what regular players want.
Ok?
They knew how problematic the changes where. They pushed it regardless and now they realized that we weren't wrong. That's reasonable.

Do you remember they needed add obsession to all matches just because of that. Because nobody was using DS anymore and when you use it, you would not do so much.
We need anti-tunnel perk which makes this happen less. Right now tunnelling has no risks at all.
I think a perk shouldn't be the solution to tunneling. It should be punishment of tunneling and a reward for other playstyles base.
You can't just punish the killer. You have to give a reasonable alternative.

Unhealthy for chase in general and extremely good for camping
Why is it unhealthy for chase. It actually helps lower tier killers out a lot by reducing the power if shift w that is enabled by many maps.
-
@Firellius said:
It's a good perk overall, but it has some unfair extremes. When 6.1 hit, essentially, a few of STBFL's stacks were made basekit, but they stack with STBFL, which means the maximum recovery speed you can get out of it can be so high that it can even deny post-hit dashes sometimes.
But the bigger issue, as already mentioned, is with camping. STBFL allows you to get a recovery so short that it can become impossible to save a survivor without giving the killer a down in return.
Making Stbfl only have 6 stacks would literally change some milliseconds. The real problem with the Perk is camping.
Changing this perk is difficult because many lower killer more or less rely on it to have faster chases. Stronger killers don't really care about it.
An ideal change would be to nerf it's camping ability but to leave it's chasing power the same.

Well where are they? I'm seeing only 3-4 players in this thread who care, as usual, and there are an equal amount of people here against reverting her.
Again. Please take a look at the Ptb feedback for Sadako and how many players offered their support and constructive feedback. Sure, you regular mainstream content creator didn't complain much when she changed, but even they finally see the flaws of the rework. Took them long enough.
Most of us old school Sadako players aren't writing as much I presume because they either left the forum, adapted because they like the character that much or gave up on the possibility of the rework being reverted. I myself was on the brink of mining her again when the blighted skin dropped. But then I played around 5 matches, got sad and stopped.

After reading this thread, I would admit I’m a bit worried that they would go the Freddy route and nerf Sadako’s Condemned mechanic till the point that it’s not a concern. (Most people ignore Alarm clocks against Freddy in general)
Cage choosing to talk about Sadako when he was officially revealed to be in DBD has always made me suspect that the devs buffed her because Cage liked her and now that they have gotten enough sales from his DLC, she’s going down the nerf bin.
I feel that no matter which iteration of Sadako we get, as long as her Condemned mechanic allows her to bypass hook stages and get a Survivor out of the game, people will still complain about her because of the expectation of having 3 hook stages ergo 3 chances to survive (That’s why tunneling and camping are hated so much.) This is the sad reality that Sadako mains will have to accept :(
I have no problem with people complaining. People complain about all killers in dbd. There is not one killer that isn't complained about.
I have a problem with how boring of a spam fest she is right now. Just nerfing her number WILL make her like Freddy. That's why many players including myself want the devs to revert the changes and buff her accordingly.

That's because the PTB version of Sadako was terrible and most of the community thought the rework was a nerf. She had a massive buff going to live, which people had to fight for. Most killers are satisfied with her now. Whenever there's a bring Sadako back thread, there's like 3-4 people who prefer old Sadako. No one else cares.

Nah, Nurse is completely different in this regard.
Players don't like nurse because (in short) she is op in the right hands.
Hag tho? She is completely not op, nor even strong if you know how actually easy to counter (play around) her traps. People hate to play against hag, just because she is a "Territorial killer". She just sits on one part of the map, she doesn't chasing anyone.
It's a boring gameplay. I used to like her and even maining her. But I just came to realisation that you can't get better at her, than "this".
Her limits basically all in the survivor's knowledge. If they know what to do - Hag is the object of bullies.
That's not what I meant, sorry.
I meant that Nurse also has an extremely outdated killer design. Thats all.

Gotta agree. I say exactly the same thing when killers complain immediately that a new killer is too weak just because they're not winning their games within a few hours of release. Some killers take time to learn to efficiently counter just like some killers might take longer to learn to efficiently play. People need to give at least a week for the devs to make proper assessments.
True.

She is arguably the best m1 killer currently in the game. If you’re against a sadoku main you’re instantly pushed into a corner forced to do a secondary objective or else you’re dead.
it’s too forced at the moment, a slight nerf to her and a few of her add ons, and then she’ll be in a perfect state.
No. Global condemned is a bad mechanic that leads to slugging and spamming teleport. She was fine the way she was.

@Devil_hit11 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3595844#Comment_3595844
yes. they changed cooldowns and numbers.
here were some of number changed:
TV area of effect to apply condemn increased from 16 to 128 meters
TV condemn reduced from 1 to 0.75
TV cooldown for teleporting reduced from 100 second to 45 seconds
TV cooldown for taking a tape increased from 60 to 70 seconds
Added 10 second cooldown for teleporting.
When carrying a tape, a survivor can no longer be condemned. Removed passive that increases condemn build up every 30 seconds. When a survivor is attacked by a basic m1 attack, the tape is destroyed and survivor suffers from 2 condemn stacks.
As you can see, Rework for me means that new ability is added and old ability is removed. nothing was added to sadako. nothing was removed. everything that exists in old sadako exists new sadako. Only the numbers changed. that is called fine-tuning.
I CAN VERY MUCH PLAY NEW SADAKO. I refuse to play her because first: she bores me so much and second : playing her makes me sad because I think of what I've lost. Of how much more she was
Can you please explain what part you have lost in precise and concise detail?
What we see as reworks seems to be quite different. But I'll try to make my point seem understandable.
The part of how condemnation is applied changed completely. It's is not within a certain radius anymore. It's map wide. This lead to a cooldown that wasn't there before. The tapes are now able to be put in every TV around the map and not one specific one. Tapes no longer give passive condemnation. Instead, Sadako can now hit you for stacks when you hold a tape. With the removal of passive condemnation, it changed, that she now loses chase when demanifested. The mechanic was added, that Sadako is no longer able to be stunned while demanifested.
All these are more than number changes. Therefore in my eyes a rework. The whole playstyle got changed. It's not just old Sadako with nicer TV cooldowns.
Now to what I've lost. I and many others lost a unique strategic killer. Sadakos playstyle at least for me was to apply condemned to survivors via teleporting near them. Therefore knowing where every survivor was around the map. Not just that but also chasing survivors into TVs. This was a skill full interaction. The survivor was able to predict the Sadako teleporting near them and could make a 180 turn to avoid getting condemned. Right now it's doesn't matter how good you are as survivor in that regard. Your getting condemned all the same. Sadako also had the best map presence in the game. She was able to demanifest and teleport. No cooldowns. This was extremely nice. Using this made applying condemned possible in the right hands. It also was possible to condemn survivors through floors which added a layer of knowledge and usability of her power. Next to this was the interaction with tvs. Due to it being all TVs now, predicting and harassing the correct TV isn't really possible anymore without the iridescent videotape addon. Old Sadako had to monitor all tvs to see when and where someone picked up a tape and predict where the correct TV for the tape was. If this worked out, the Sadako had immense pressure on this survivor and the survivor was in high danger of getting mori'd on the spot.
What did I lose? A playstyle with a lt of depth and strategic thinking and therefore a unique killer among others.
What did I not lose? Slugging Sadakos in public lobbies.
What did I receive? A button spam fest with very little strategy and more lethality
If you think pure strength is fun then this is your killer. I find her to be a shadow of her former self and every time I play her, I'm reminded of that.

Calling him a normal (fun for both sides) is a bit of a stretch as well.=)
I only see people saying that he's fun to play against because of his voice lines. xD
It's like saying: - "Nurse is fun to play against, because you can spank her from behind while she is in the fatigue".
I found him having a lot of Mindgame potential for both sides when using slice and dice. Kinda like against a good Hillbilly. Mindgaming and outplaying a power is the most fun part of survivor in chase. At least for me. The only thing I dislike about chucky is using Stealth in loops just to get free hits with m1. Other than that, I dont see the problem.

nurse has an heavy penalty to her teleport
blight has to bounce and some maps are pretty nasty with obstacles
chucky? no terror radius + footsteps deception + anti-pallet + charge to cover distance, has he some drawbacks for all those powers? I can't see any, so you get all bonus and no malus
He's 4.4 with no map mobility. That's the downside.

@Nazzzak said:
I actually thought her update was for the better, it just needed some tweaks as she currently is a solo stomper. I think alot of that is selfish team mates who don't seem to understand when another survivor needs a tape/TV much sooner than they do, especially when Sadako is spamming teleports, so I feel like something needed to be done to free up TV hunting. But ultimately if her kill rates are too high (I know they were already high per the 2022 stat release) then I'm not surprised they're reverting some changes.
She's dull to play.
Her strategic skill cieleing has been reduced to spamming a button and her map mobility that made her omnipresent has gotten a cooldown that feels awful but is necessary due to the global condemned.
Going back to how she was is the only right way in my opinion.
Said that for months. Said that in the Ptb feedback.
Sadako chanig was originally the reason I joined the forum and spoke up.
-
@lifestylee said:
Her power lvl will most likely drop for most people who play the killer.
Maybe you enjoyed old sadako, but i didnt really enjoy playing her as overall i felt she was too weak back then and i have played her quite alot since her rework and win very frequently with her.
If she's going to get changed/nerfed alot of people who play sadako now wont like it and some will like you. Its subjective.
The way I played her back than made her very consistent and dare I say strong in her own rights.
As you say, many didn't. Playing her well was very unintuitive and therefore many just called her weak. She wasn't. With the rework she has been watered down for the masses. What some dedicated people practiced and perfected back then is now open to eventybidy at the expense of soloq having real issues with it. Without thinking, people can spam her teleport and get value. Old Sadako had a genuine strategic skill cieleing. This skill cieleing is pretty much non existant since the rework happened.
I hope she returns to a similar state of how she was. Then I can finally enjoy playing her again.
-
@ASurvkillivorer said:
LMAO at anyone actually thinking this is somehow a "for killers" change. Look at that roadmap. Literally all of those changes sound like take this from killer...take that from killer etc etc
THey intended to make Sadako weaker and accidentally made her stronger. Anyone who simply keeps the teleport in cooldown and constantly spreads condemned puts MASSIVE pressure onto the survivors. That is surely going to be removed and she will end up in a much weaker state.
Ranged condemned was a way better solution. Map wide condemned just leads to dull gameplay from the killers side.
She's boring. Strong but boring. If you want an easy win button against public soloq groups then there you go. I enjoyed the unique killer she was. If played well she was not bad strength wise as well.

Onepumpwillies did 100 winstreaks as perkless sadako. old sadako is not better then new sadako. Her power was fined tuned. i play her every few days. It is your problem if you cannot play new iteration of Sadako.
Did you even read what I said previously?
There is a difference between strength and fun.
Fine tuning means changing cooldowns or numbers.
Sadako got a full rework that fundamentally changed how she plays. That's not fine tuning that's buying a new car.

@[Deleted User] said:
I get why they're probably changing her. If you're going against a good player, you're functionally at max condemned stacks when you're at 4 or 5. They're not going to let you use a tape and there's nothing you can do about it once you reach that point. They're going to follow you and spam TP wherever you're going. I've had one of these "chases" go on for over minute with my team even trying to body block. And the solution can't be to use tapes at 2 or 3 stacks, because that's an absurd level of built in game delay. I usually have someone Condemned mori'd at 3 or 4 remaining gens when I play as her. It's not ok.
Old Sadako was better. She needed tweaks and fine tuning to her power. Not what she eventually got.
-
@appleas said:
I think removing global condemn is fine but they can’t just do that and call it a day.
One glaring issue with her pre rework was that barely anyone took tapes. So builds like Sea soaked + rickety pinwheel and walking around manifested as a pseudo stealth killer worked but it just made her a m1 walking killer.
16 m Condemned range is too small and I hope the proposed changes dont gut her totally.
We suggested great changes back in the Ptb feedback. I really hope they will take a look at them and use all the good ideas that where collected there.

I use scamper mainly for God pallets that have no counterplay other than breaking it. Gideon meat plant was genuinely fun to play for once. Just not for the survivors.

I also remember endless discussions as to why the old tapes were pointless to interact with.
And I do remember a lot of Sadako suggestions. I agreed with some, disagreed with others. I still think Sadako's old system was bad and not the best to go back to, and all of the suggestions in the feedback forum won't guarantee BHVR will use them and will make her less mechanically interesting for the simple reason that players don't know how or refuse to interact with her power.
Agree to disagree.
I dont think we will come to one opinion other than that we both care a lot about this character.
I feel like the old version was way better than what we got and I was heartbroken when they just pushed the changes to live and ignored all that we suggested without telling us why they did it.

One perk to avoid a problem most will run into, a problem most people have with the balance of this game overall.
Tapes were not scary at all. There were games survivors would just rush gens and leave because they could avoid condemned and never touch tapes until necessary. Tapes now are far scarier because they have the drawback of getting hit could result in a death. Tapes before just gained you condemned, which only made survivors avoid them more since you could easily run away when she teleported nearby.
I think I failed to make my point clear. Carrying a tape was way scarier back then.
Also....
Did you read out Ptb feedback back then?
Players like @OnryosTapeRentals and me had long posts about constructive changes and how her problems could and should get fixed.
Are they still somewhere out there for people to read?

You still have strategic teleporting now though, I still use strategic movement through TVs and sometimes still cut off survivors if they're not careful. Using tapes is still risky, if not riskier now than ever before. As I said, people could straight up remove condemned in your face before and ruin your entire momentum if you were building condemned. The only real change now is survivors need to touch tapes and there's a shorter TV cooldown in terms of that playstyle. A good example is my VCR/Deadmans combo where, to this day, I still can get 2, sometimes 3 gens blocked because they think I teleported near them.
And my only real complaint with her now is how easy condemned slugging is. Changing how the mori is achieved by second hook is probably the best change for everyone.
I had Stbfl. No putting tapes in my face.
Tapes back then where way scarier. Sadako was able to predict the correct TV and harass survivors trying to put it in. Also a survivor putting the tape in wanst the end of the world. 3 correct teleports and they where again in the danger zone.
Again....
She was unique and fun.
All that is gone now.
But hopefully it will return and all the hard work that I and many others on the Ptb feedback put in will finally pay off.

I also don't like to repeat myself, but I will if I have to.
I've dedicated a lot of time to Sadako, as I said before I started the game with her and was oblivious to her power compared to other killers until months later. It was a bit of a shock how weak she was once I tried other killers, at the time I was getting consistent 2k-3ks with her at the time, sometimes 0k if survivors held W and looped well.
When the change was coming I was skeptical at first, my favorite build was VCR/Iri Tape with Deadman's Switch, Surge, Bamboozle and whatever 4th perk I felt at the time. I felt like the change would demolish that build if TVs were more interacted with. And now after all this time I still run the same build and it's just as effective, if not more so, because of cooldowns and survivors actually having a secondary objective. I was very wrong thinking the changes would nerf her at the time and I can admit that now, but I still can agree on current issues people abuse. I even swapped Iri Tape with Photograph and could still keep momentum in a trial.
Now thinking back to old Sadako and current, we will lose a lot more interactivity and pressure compared to old if they bring her back to that state, which is honestly disheartening. And to ensure there's no bias on my part, I felt the same when flashlight burn got removed.
I want the strategic teleporting back. That's all. Spamming my button is boring and uninteractive. Yes. Less tapes will be used. But she will have better map traversal due to no cooldown. That was a big upside of old Sadako. It would also bring back the interaction of chasing survivors into TVs to condemn them mid chase.
Old Sadako was, at least for me more interactive and less spammy. Using tapes was a risky endeavor and lead to intense gameplay in many situations. Right now it's mostly : delete any progress instantly or die on the spot. That's not fun for me.

Also similar to pigs ambush

That's what I would hope for.
It does promote tunneling, unfortunately, but I don't know if anything can be done for that barring a basekit tunneling change.
It could also remain at 8 stacks and lose stacks when hitting bt-endurance. Maybe it could also somehow lose stacks in a camping - situation. That's genuinely the only issue with this perk in my opinion.
Would that work?

what are your talking about? i play onryo almost everyday. Onepumpwillies who is onryo main also plays her. He is done 200+ winstreak with add-on and 100 winstreak with no perks or add-on's. your post are make no sense at all. Onryo is better killer all-around. Your inability to play Onryo is your problem. Onryo is not getting buffed. She's going get gutted.
You do realize that there is a difference in strength and fun right?
Sadako lost all that made her unique.
I'm not unable to play her. I'm VERY able to play her. She's so easy and stupid against solos that she's grown extremely boring to me. Just spam, remember stacks and kill. If that's interactive to you, I don't know what to tell you.
If she getting "gutted" means that I can finally enjoy her again, then im all for that.
And for the last time: she wasn't awfully weak back then. Just unintuively to play good for a majority of players.

Well I hate to break it to you but I did just fine with old Sadako too. I can still say she was very weak and there was a good reason a lot of people wanted buffs.
And unfortunately for both of us, slug condemned is still the biggest issue regardless of what version Sadako is in.
I agree on that. She wasn't the strongest. She did deserve buffs. But she didn't deserve what she eventually got.
You don't tell me something new. I played her since she came out on a daily basis.
Sorry if I'm a bit passive, but I very much dislike to repeat myself about her being viable if played well.
It's getting old.

Mechanically yes, she was worse than Wraith. You can say skill issue all you want and flaunt leaderboards but when her only viable playstyle was slug condemned or condemned tunneling it doesn't change the fact it wasn't good or interactive.
I didn't slug or tunnel. I genuinely played her well.
Is this so hard to understand?
I was omnipresent and counted stacks in my head. I used a build that made this possible.
Stbfl, discordance, face the darkness and surge.
Addons: only cabin sign.
If you didn't perform well with her. Sorry but you didn't play her well enough to make her consistent.
Did I win every game? No. No killer should.
Playing for condemned doesn't mean slugging or tunneling. I said that back then and I say this now. I'm honestly sick of peoe who reduce her to this playstyle.
