Wait, people actually use charms???
Believe it or not, but I really enjoy them. I love to decorate my characters with thematically fitting charms. Make the character more unique to me.
Some of the actually look really fire.

Having a good graphics card gives a competetive advantage, as does having a good keyboard with a high polling rate. At some level you have to realize life isn't fair and some sources of advantage you realistically just need to put up with. Certainly I would hope you would never advocate handing out bans for people who exceed a certain frame rate or screen resolution, or for having hardware that exceeds a certain limit on poll rate.
Also shaders can't help you see anything that you couldn't already see. Any wall that you can see through with a shader, you can also see through without a shader, it's just harder. I agree that some extreme examples of shaders are particularly ridiculous, but implying that anyone who uses a shader is doing it to that extreme in order to get a competetive advantage is also ridiculous.
I have a great graphics card and even I struggle hard with scratch marks from time to time.
Shaders give a big advantage. The sooner we all can accept that, the better. People don't use it to make the game look better. A ton of people in the competetive scene play the game on the lowest graphics options, where the game looks pretty bad already. I think a little more red will not make it look like butterflies.
Is it cheating? In my opinion, yes. In the devs opinion? Seemingly not.

I hope it's not prior release charms. I have a lot of hours in this game and have spent a lot of money on it too (way too much to admit) and I love having a charm that is rare from a rift or one that was only able to be obtained from a code. Charms are so small that I don't think they give a big amount of FOMO for new players. I don't have the first few couple of rift charms and it's cool to see them on someone else's hook because it shows how seasoned of a player they are. I hope they don't take this away by allowing people to buy them now :/
The trappers trap charm is part of the bundle and as far as i know that a pretty old one.

You can indeed. There is currently a dedicated charm bundle as well as a mixed bundle of both charms and outfits.

I am not talking about filters, I'm talking about modding - these are two seperate things
and no we do not consider filters as cheating.
But you do know that filters can have a similar function right?

I didn't check every single one but if Ace's aren't available and Dwight's pizza hoodie isn't either, I would imagine that the others are all listed as unavailable too, unless you already have them from getting them in the rift.
Are you able to buy old charms?

Yep, I made a thread about it ages ago but stopped updating it because BHVR never acknowledged it, there are tons of single piece rift cosmetics that were in the first 4 Tomes/Rifts that have never come back. I have a few but this was in Tome 2 so I missed it. Really unfortunate to keep what basically amount to recolors away from new players.
Can you check the game right now?
I'm curious if it is possible to buy charms right now. That's one of the things I've waited for a long time as well.
-
@Mandy said:
This is one of the things we talk about like an arms race, it's a cheat basically. We have blocked things on our end, but the circle continues that people who want to cheat develop new ways, then we block it, then they develop something else. It's a never ending cycle.
Now I have an important question.
What are screen filters considered as?
Many players use different kinds of shaders to make some colour's stick out very brightly. What I've seen, this is mostly done to make scratch marks and red stains extremely bright so that players can react to them better and sometimes even earlier.
Are these considered cheats as well? They do give an advantage.

Question is: will Victor still die mid air for no reason whatsoever?

Are they less buggy though?

If the Tanuki thing isn't bugged. Gotta keep it real lol
-Added Tanuki-Tanuki addition broke A, B, and C of the game.
-Tanuki killswitched
lol
Upon interacting with the tanuki as the Nemesis, the tanuki is attached to the Nemesis head. Therefore the Nightmare will get his weakness against adrenaline restored.
Upon receiving the event related Tanuki charm, all of the players progress on a random character gets removed. To compensate for this, the players affected will receive 100k BP over the span of the following year.
Did I miss something?

I dont know what you need to do for a hardware ban. The only person I know about who was hardware banned was griefing and harrassing others.
Maybe the constant usage of cheats on different accounts is enough?
Would be interesting to know.

Is there not the option of a hardware ban? Maybe this individual is that foul and rotten, that they deserve this kind of treatment.

To me, winning or losing isn't that important. How I won or lost is much more important to me. If I lost as killer while I had 7-8 fun chases with different people, this is actually a win in my book.
If I loose while getting pre dropped and shift w key'd for around 5 minutes by all teammates, then that game can go down the bin.
Winning with great chases feels the best of course.
Winning with massive tunneling, slugging and camping feels awful. These matches feel more like the game being a job and you are the one that has to do the dirty work.
Very subjective question though.

I mean if it's better then dealing with constant pain res, pop, dead man, corrupt and whatever else is part of the meta I'll deal with it because I just can't with survivor right now.
Burnout is no joke. The game is not a job. If you dont enjoy it, don't force yourself!
I absolutely understand. I try to play random builds when I play. Mixes up the monotony.

And the killers 'agency' is more important than survivors being able to PLAY the game because? It's not fun when killers can just guarantee one person out of the game and there's nothing the survivors can do to counter it besides just not getting downed.
Yes, it's boring if the killer camps. You know how to deal with it? Be a good teammate and do gens / stay as long on the hook as possible.
Camping is a strategy for killers to use when survivors become too efficient. It's a necessary evil sometimes.
As a Pig main, I sometimes have to resort to unfun strategies to keep up.
The more competetive this game becomes, the nastier the gameplay becomes.
This game is about kills and escapes. That's literally all what MMR looks at. How the killer gets these kills is up to them. If someone doesn't care about the others fun and just wants to win, they will optimize their gameplay. For survivor that's spreading and shift w. For killer it's focusing specific survivors and NOT spreading pressure to all survivors equally.

I think you're going to be quite happy today!
The download is going to be bigger than normal as you effectively need to download the whole game again but your file size on PS5 should decrease by around 20GB.
If you are allowed to say, when exactly is the update going live? I'd like to plan out the evening.

Yes background player needs a change. And for the people buckle up shouldn’t have synergy. But now we complaining about all exhaustion perks? And I saw this other streamer (won’t say his name) complain about how Blastmine has no counter play. How many more nerfs do survivors need?😭
I don't get this…
As a 70-30 Killer - survivor player. I do not understand these people.

I have only one time seen the anti-camp mechanism work in a survivor's favor. Once in months and I play nearly daily. So yeah it is pretty much just a sham to make survivors feel like they are "doing something" about trash game play.

If proxy camping is effectively 100% the same as face camping then that's an issue. A bubba can easily 'face' camp at a distance.
The funny thing is, face camping wasn't effective. Just boring. Proxy camping is basicly the killer tyring to not give a free unhook. Trying to delete this would make agency on the killer side extremely limited. There would need to be a huge radius around the hook, where the killer can't be.
Limiting the options what to do, never feels good. Having half of the map be a "you can't go there or you will be punished" - feels even worse.
Not a good idea.
FACE camping by the way is when the killer is as close to the hook, that they can smell your underwear.
It was boring but only effective in cases where the team was pretty bad. Exception being the old face camping, where the survivor was not able to unhook at all.

@jamally093 said:
Simple reason playing survivor has gotten boring since every match I'm facing a killer that's constantly using the meta. Yes I get the meta is useful but in my eyes after the 10th match with the killer bringing Pain Res, Pop and basically anything part of the meta it gets a little boring. Playing killer while I hate it isn't as boring since I rarely see survivors use the meta instead I see a big mix bag.
Then don't play killer for too long.
I usually see around 7-8 different perks in a lobby maximum.
Survivor perk variety is similarly awful.
-
I don't remember my first match, but I do remember one of my first matches. I played Steve with @Xernoton back when Twins released.
We played against a Myers and did all the things a new player does. Crouching around the map, never doing gens and hiding in lockers.
This Myers was a special cookie though and came equipped with tombstone piece and J. Myers memorial.
This resulted in the situation, where we were both at shack, I hid in a locker and my friend, disguised as a baby Feng walked slowly out of the door next to me, just to get greeted by Myers welcoming hands.
While he screamed "He's killing me! He's killing me!" I just sank deeper into the locker.

My build is as follows...
Addons: Dried Horsemeat, to increase the chance of getting an injure with a guard, Call to Arms, to better sneak up on survivors on gens.
Perks: Lethal Pressure, to guarantee early pressure and synergize with my other perks; BBQ and Chilli, to know where to go whenever a get a hook; Discordance, to know which gens to head towards to get two chases at once, and Nowhere to Hide, to kick a gen and potentially find a hiding survivor (which happens a lot) so I can either start a chase or send a gaurd to do the heavy lifting.
Your goal is to be in two chases at once as often as possible, one with a guard while the other as the knight at the same time, with a secondary goal of chasing one survivor and using that guard to create a pincer attack, putting that survivor in an unwinnable situation where the guard and the knight are coming at them from two opposing directions at once
Give it a try. It may change your opinion on The Knight
Lastly, I understand why people like Map of the Realm, but I value the two addons i always use MUCH more
Sincerely yours....
Sandt, The Knight Main
I already tried it and it worked just fine. Thank you for your insightful comment. I really do view knight quit differently now.

Yeah and flashbang counter play is to prevent wall looking up?
You make no sense.
The counter to a flashlight is to look at a wall or to chase a survivor away.
BGP negates the second option because the survivor will still reach the spot in time despite being chased away.
The counter to a flashbang is not looking at a wall due to them having a bigger radius and being able to be disposed (excuse my language) in the killers butt. The option of chasing the survivor away is also not possible if the survivor runs BGP, as mentioned before.
Your earlier post implied that the counter a killer has to flashlights is annoying and that they should just give the survivor a free safe. That's seems like entitlement to me. A killer should have an option to avoid a safe after a potentially long chase.
-
Meta stands for "most-effective-tools-availible"
In case of dbd, this means the perks, items, characters, addons and offerings that give a player the best chances to consistently win.
For killer perks right now: Pain Res, pop, corrupt, Deadlock, dms, Grim Embrace, no way out, no where to hide, lethal pursuer, ultimate weapon (pre nerf).
For Survivor perks right now: Windows of Opportunity, Adrenaline (pre and post nerf), dh, ds, otr, well make it, lithe, sprint burst, resilience.
That's at least my opinion.
A meta in a game is inevitable to happen. The Perk meta in dbd is the way it is because many perks on both sides are very situational. Therefore many people tend to use the perks that consistently give the most value in a variety of scenarios.

Yeah I agree with that! Clown isn’t even good but he just feels boring and annoying to play against because there’s nothing else to do but pre-drop and hold w.
Freddy is another killer that I don’t like playing against because he’s just so uninteractive. He’s got next to no power yet he’s just so boring whether awake or asleep. Which sucks because it’s Freddy Krueger!
I don’t mind the Knight too much so long as they don’t just drop a guard in a loop you can’t run away from. It’s kind of fun when they aim to play more strategic or when you manage to avoid the Knight and the guard. Sadly the drop guard and run strat is the best way to play him :(
Its not.
Playing him the strategic way you described to perfection is stronger in my opinion and from what ive experienced. A good Knight can basicly stop gen progress when one survivor is hooked.
