  • Dumpster fire of bad winners and sore losers in post game chat today. Guess weekends are worse for salty survivors.

To those who could conduct themselves with some civility I tip my hat to you. It’s one thing to give props for outstanding play it’s another to give props for just being a good player and by that I mean with attitude and all.

    GG everyone and GL HF.

Perks other than Barbecue & Chili only multiply the Bloodpoints gained during the trial from scoring events, allowing you to max out certain categories faster. However, they do not allow that category to exceed 8,000 Bloodpoints, and they do not mulitply points earned in that category post-match like Barbecue & Chili does for all categories.

wow that makes B&C even more valuable. Is this the same for offerings?

  • Mint rag, shackles, make your choice hag. Can be oppressive.

    with mori it’s brutal.

  • If you are on pc I’ve been hunting around for folks to play some custom games with. Have some fun in a generally friendly environment.

I’m a purp ranked killer these days but level 20 potato survivor.

  • It strikes me that killers get more blood points less pips and survivors get more pips and less blood points. Correct me if I’m off.

The grind for killer hasn’t been so bad especially with BBQ and chilli, which is almost a must as other bp boosting perks are situational And buff only one aspect where B&C can be useful on any killer and gives bonus to all bps.

The thought of doing that on survivor, ugh. Although you can spend bps on either side right? I’d probably use my killers to level my survivors.

I’ve tried survivor twice and have been carried to an escape by team mates both times. Potatoes of the world unite!

  • The argument is often that you can’t game the way you normally would on an outdoor map, but isn’t that the point? It adds variety. I like The lab and hospital. I originally found them tedious but have gotten good at them and have fun now.

I get lost in “the game” map sadly so often don’t do well on it. I know it’s said to be killer sided but seriously I screw that map up all the time.

haddonfield and the pre-school are kinda half half maps that feel a little stunted with the long fences and hedges, I kinda like these the least.

The new map is different again but I feel in a limited kinda way. Typically the best thing for survivors to do is just sprint burst down the corridors as the pallets and classrooms are often a death trap. Also finding a hook can be a pain.

indoor maps keep the game from being “samey” every match. Variety is a good thing. Although I hope the next map is outdoors but not too large hehe.

  • Yeah neat idea but not really thematic in a dbd sense.

Clowns are up there with death spiders, sharks and public speaking on people’s phobia lists. The fact he’s a bit of a dark creepy twisted fiend kinda works.

  • Comes down to game population. More survivors per game more chance of toxicity.

I often see survivors ignoring me post game chat but attacking each other.

sometimes you can tell, toxic swf attack the killer, toxic solos attack each other. Close the chat it ain’t worth your time win lose or draw.

  • Also realise your map awareness may differ from the killers. If all the pallets have been used up in an area and the killer has to choose between survivor heading into a weak zone vs survivor heading into a much stronger zone then the weak zone will likely be the target regardless of previous hooks.

sorry this is a lot but I find when I’m tunneled or lose survivors it’s usually because I screwed up somehow and the opponent capitalised on it.

also the caps key is on the left ;)

  • Some anti tunneling strategies.

Don’t heal directly under the hook.

If you use the BT body block and then separate the killer likely has only you in his sight so calculate the risk of such a play based on how many times you have been hooked

Flash light clicky and butt dance taunt mean chase me please curb that behaviour between hooks

don't go straight back to the almost complete gen two seconds after being unhooked next to said gen.

Take a moment to assess your surroundings post hook before trying to gen rush as the killer may still be in the area.

Realise it is advantageous for killers to tunnel someone down so try avoid that as best as possible.

Run DS and other second chance perks to facilitate escape.

if all else fails accept that some games go south and don’t take it to heart.

It isn’t a game where we all go sing kumbaya around the fire together If you are found again, expect you may get hooked again or at best slugged. Stop expecting to get away.

As killer I try not to hook the just unhooked but often some bad play results in a second down and that choice to slug or hook again. If gens a popping off like mad ima gonna hook whoever is hookable when no other targets are available for a slug double down.

  • Trapping an unhooked survivor/s in the basement and never going down to hook them sure.

But sabotaging hooks wouldn’t fix that anyway. If you have hooked people down there and guard the entrance. I’m not sure how that is a hostage situation as other team mates can try for the save or end the game.

hostage situation prevents the game end like before the egc when people would just hide forcing the killer to eventually dc. So I’m told, it was before my time.

  • It’s not what happens to you that matters it’s how you react to it. true with something insignificant like a computer game.

a lot of what people call toxic is often just effective play by the opponent.

what is toxic is actual grief’ing ie blocking and opponent in a corner all game and going afk etc

    post game abusive chat.

Stop overestimating your ability and accept that some games are going to go south and things get more fun.

  • As far as I’m aware staying near the basement to guard any survivors hooked there is not holding the game hostage.

holding the game hostage is preventing the game from ending. Camping the basement does not do that. I’m sure this has all been said before.

in some cases it can be a valid strategy in the late game after a gen rush. A coordinated team can overcome it.

  • Amnesia would be an interesting addition to dbd. Been so long since I’ve played it I have a hankering now.

To me, most console players seem spoiled. The ones who weren't there from the start on PC don't know how bad it used to be.

    • Entity never blocked abused windows
    • There were 2x-3x more windows and pallets
    • The killer shack had 2 windows and 1 door
    • The bus had both windows open
    • The car shop had 3 windows side by side
    • The Nurse moved at 115% movement speed
    • Unrelenting affected both missed and succesful attacks, and stacked with Save the Best for Last
    • Moonlight offerings made the match extremely dark (you think Blendette now is bad..?)
    • Map offerings came in different rarities and none of them were 100% chance of working
    • The Bloodweb only gave 1 perk per level
    • The Bloodweb animation took way longer and it took ages to spend Bloodpoints
    • The only clothing options were base and Prestige
    • Exhaustion recovered while sprinting
    • There was only one spot that Survivors could unhook from, and Killers could there to completely prevent unhooking (the OG "Face Camp")
    • Sabotaged hooks remained broken for the entire match, as did the Trapper's traps
    • More, I'm sure, but cannot remember right now...

Thanks. I’ve only been playing for roughly two months this is quite a list. I enjoy the game if people don’t then take a break or move on.

so many game I played for years got tired of stopped enjoying and moved on. All these “I hate this game” posts is just weird. Do people take everything in life with such seriousness, I think most folks just have to chill and maybe curb their sense of entitlement a lil.

  • So far every time I play doc I get this map and it’s kinda tedious.

tonight finally got this map with hag, good luck getting out against hag on this map. I don’t patrol gens, just fill one half the map with traps and wait. The survivors deliver themselves to you to be sacrificed.

still not a big fan of it. Lacks a lot of mind game and shortcut potential. I main hag though so bring it on.

Just an update I think everyone in thread might appreciate. Just got a 4 kill game using ebony mori against red ranks, with every kill being a mori. I'm currently rank 17 for the season. I knew I was saving the ebony for something and then ran into a swf team that had been super toxic earlier in the night, decided to run ebony mori on bubba and it might have been one of the most satisfying things I have ever done.

Ah the ebony mori. had some fun with that tonight. Love the hag’s kill animation so visceral.

I assume you play Killer? Because focusing on BP as a survivor can be just as depressing as focusing on rank. 😂

Ah yes slightly biased here. I am A potato survivor. So killer is the focus

  • Welcome.

I don’t get how folks say they don’t enjoy dbd. It’s hard really hard to do well sometimes, but it’s fun. Focus on blood points and not pips and it’s great.

once you let go of rank this game is great. Also not every post game chat is toxic it’s just a few bad apples that spoil the pie.

  • Nothing wrong with a mori just as there is nothing wrong with a key. It’s part of the game and if it happens then queue up again and suck it up.

Mate don’t feel bad for bringing a mori. Even if you only kill one person because they are a serious loop group then the mori has done it’s job.

you’ll get salt, abuse, moaning. You also get taunted if you fail to kill anyone with it, but it doesn’t matter. You are not responsible for anyone else’s fun.

I’m not saying go out there and grief people but a mori is part of the game. Use it if you want, just the same as keys.

also not all swf are out to bully people but it can feel like it sometimes.

  • @nohahaha said:

I'm in the same boat, and it makes it very hard to gain BP and level properly. I find that matches that are more even are very fun and play well, but getting matched against high ranks just ends with a 5 minute game and alot of bullying and harrassment.

If you want to hit up some customs games on pc let me know.

Add me on steam : kattokki

I would love to have people to practice with ! Of course, potato is my middle name haha but it sounds great, I need dbd friends :DD

no worries sent you a friend invite

  • @kattokki said:

Thank you everyone for your responses! It made me feel better, will try to get good perks and see how it goes :) <3 good luck in ur future games ! I hope this gets fixed so everyone can enjoy playing as beginner <3

If you play on PC we can set up some custom games. I really don't play survivor as I'm a complete potato but if you want to hunt a potato to get some killer exp I could use some survivor exp. A few friendly games to practice my billy saw and nurse would be good too.

  • I have only got the new map on docotor so far, I can see you but how the hell do I get to you hehe.

I'm looking forward to hag and trapper on this map, sure run into that room hehehe,I think hag will be really oppressive.

  • Yeah match making in that rank 20-16 bracket is a bit borked, often I got complete red purple games or matched with other low levels and a pair of reds who carried the game.

Two months in myself. Just get your chase bp in and farm what you can. I recommend getting Leatherface if you haven't or try and grab BBQ and chilli perk from the shrine. It will reduce the BP grind considerably one you unlock it. Also pick out the weak, it took a while for me to realise when to drop chase and find another target.

I think the first week playing killer I thought jesus this is impossible, what did I just spend my money on? Savour that first 4k when you get it hehe. Above all else have fun and remember the wolf does not concern itself with the opinions of the sheep.

  • Yeah he’s good on the locating but generic on the chase. Best part about him is shutting down vaults and loops with his shock. But you have to time it perfectly.

The distressing, calm carters notes unnerving lullaby build can be a butt nutter. But I’ve had good survivors play around it a number of times.

I main hag mostly but second doc. They both have very different play styles.

if all killers were the same the game would be dull. Mix up the perks watch what the doc does. If he shoots off a blast every time he hooks someone then you can start to predict and get in a locker. It’s no different to survivors who always try to juke or double back. One trick pony survivors and killers are the easiest to catch/escape from.

  • I'm not a silent hill fan so I always thought the new chapter was meh, but my lack of interest in SH doesn't and shouldn't diminish your interest in SH. So having not picked up the new chapter I can't speak for the new killer. On paper I struggled to see much use in his perks beyond very situational scenarios, so that's more of a negative than a positive (again opinion you are welcome to disagree). I might be wrong but it doesn't compel me to pick the dlc up at the moment.

I don't really play survivor much so again not concerned about her.

So it comes down to the map. Is it thematic yeah very much so, its it a pain to navigate yeah but its new that comes with time. Do I think it has some game limitations, sure with respect to aspects of the game which I find fun.

These being it is a combination of long corridors and dead ends. But unlike other indoor maps there are no real short cuts to mindgame around or cut off survivors. So most plays are chase someone in a square around the corridors till blood frenzy gets me the down or block them in a room till I get the free down. Its a different play-style but I find it limiting compared to the gameplay possibilities of other maps (this may change over time).

I reckon to get the most out of the map you need to spend a lot of time breaking walls, which is fun but tiresome as every game starts the same going to break certain walls around the known loops. Also if your detection perks/abilities track someone on the floor above you, you are probably never going to get to them in time given the distance to the stairs/transitions (Getting downstairs is typically easier). It can be a lil frustrating not game breaking but frustrating.

The one thing that has been fun is the jockeying for position around a pallet in a room so that when a survivor finally drops it they are on the wrong side, away from the door, often resulting in a free hit for me... yay dead end rooms. That's a new type of gameplay that I haven't experienced on other maps and is really fun. Survivors don't often run into rooms though they tend to just sprint burst down the corridor and then drop down a level.

Yes its only been a couple of day so grain of salt for most feedback but so far games on that map feel a bit lacking in variety compared to other maps given the limiting nature of the layout. Again this may change over time we'll see.

The main problem is complaints are rarely constructive they are just this is crap/boring/OP wah wah wah. Yeah I'm sick of that too, but there are some genuine impressions that have been constructive and objective, some positive some negative. I think that feedback is important.

  • Hey you build around your weaknesses right. I sometimes struggle to spot people on darker maps and will switch out a slow down or chaser perk for a tracking perk. When I play doc who I play a lot because his abilities directly make up for my lack of good dark vision, I switch out to slowdown perks and chaser perks as I don't really need the tracking.

As hag I don't need to chase really as you'll step in a trap eventually and then I'll zap you so I kit out for slowdown etc.

It seems a lil overkill to me too but hey I guess there's a build for everyone out there. Looks like someones head went pop so it must have worked on some level. I'm curious though did you find yourself getting chased a lot?

  • @xenotimebong said:

The fact that people are calling mori an “equaliser” for games where the rank disparity is too large just shows that moris are unbalanced. An item which allows a player with less experience to beat players who should win (if ranks are accurate) is an item which is inherently unbalanced. If moris were balanced they wouldn’t allow lower ranked killers to win against survivors they should be losing against.

    Fix matchmaking and nerf moris.

    Good point about equalizing.

Perhaps ebony mori's should be after second hook thus allowing you to skip the need to pickup and hang the survivor. Still saves you time but isn't as oppressive as first hook mori (although the animation can be long so may not save you much time). It also still works as a counter to the DS run out the door in the EGC play. If you hooked that person twice then hey you earned the mori.

Then keys would have to be usable only during EGC, rather than waiting for last player to get hatch multiple players can get the hatch early, but keying out with gens left is just again game stunting.

I think these changes would temper their balance issues a lil while still allowing them to be used to impact game balance. Remember these items are designed to impact game balance. That's their purpose. So if the community find them to oppressive then I think the changes above could temper that a lil.

Again typically when people key out on me its already a survivor side snowball so I don't really notice. Being a generally casual gamer crutch'ing out on the occasional mori is just a bit of fun. I still say they are fine as is, but if they changed them a lil it wouldn't be the end of the world.

  • Yeah something about it feels off. Not many places to cut someone off or mindgame. Just run run run. You are either running a mile behind straight down a corridor or trapping them in a dead end room till you get the free hit. So far have only played it with doc and it's great for the blast but how the hell do I get upstairs to find those screaming survivors ffs. Might use the gen killing terror radius build and just hang out by huntress lullaby totem with him, I think it will be oppressive on that map. Takes some getting used to I guess.

I'd like to get this map with hag or trapper I think you could also be really oppressive with them. Given the dead end nature of the layout.

But yeah sprint bursting down the corridors with few options to cut people off is how my games seem to be going too.

  • "It always a green rank killer and I'm in red ranks"

Well there you go. As a green rank killer who gets 50/50 balanced match/red ranks flashlighty loop squad, the Mori is the great equalizer. Your complaint is about matchmaking not mori's.

After four complete sweaty survivor games which really are not much fun, yeah I might bring a mori. Even if you mori one person to take the edge off its done its job. If I have a lucky streak of games and pip up into purple ranks, which has happened a lot, then I might bring a mori as the matchmaking in that range is still punching above my weight class and again it takes the pressure off. I'm sorry to the guy who gets it but that's the nature of the game.

Same goes for keys, if they all jump through the hatch with a key then GG, it happens. Doesn't happen every game but it does happen. If they jump through the hatch when I'm bearing down on them with NOED or a full Devour hope then bummer oh well it happens. GG and move on.

Mori's and keys are fine maybe a bit too common in the bloodweb but otherwise fine. If you want to avoid any post game EZ, baby etc, BS then just skip the chat, you know the mori or key tilted the game whether it was you who used it or not. GG and move on.

  • Not great with Freddy or Plague, learning though.

With Clown he is a chaser with his bottles but lacks map pressure. I find I do well when I build around game slowing perks plus brutal strength... pop, thanat, ruin etc You can punish loops fairly easily by throwing bottles ahead of survivors and then herding them where you want them to go. Bust through pallets and continue the chase without much loss due to cloud slowdown. Extended duration and exhaustion addons are good for shutting down survivor chase perks. Let the outer gens go and hold your hunting ground usually works for me.

A bit like huntress you can hurl a bottle a long way and get info from a gen in the distance. I found bottle arcs weird at first too kept lobbing them to far. Same with plague I'm always spewing over the survivors heads hehe.

  • Myers, the Halloween theme has always been creepy to me.

  • The online world is the dumpster fire of human behaviour given the lack of consequence, just shrug it off, its a game. There is negative experience on both sides and not a lot you can do.

Also camping is a valid strategy, not always effective but valid, its part of the game. Although if I resort to camping its usually because everything has gone to pieces and its the only option left. EGC hook etc usually you can turn a 4 escape to a 2sac/2esc or even 3sac with a bit of late game basement play. Again it can be used as a griefing tool but is usually a "this has gone to pieces" last ditch effort tool.

I think bad match making results in more camping and tunneling as against the red rank hit squad as a green or yellow, taking it to 3 on 1 early is usually the best bet for added game pressure. Especially when gens are flying off at a rocket pace. Its nothing personal its just business.

I see how elements of game play can make people agitated and feel like they were targeted and griefed. A whole team of survivors body blocking every hook (even first one at 5 gens up), taunting to get you into endless loop chases, flashlight clicking, repetitive fast vaults for attention, can get annoying but its part of the game.

Most games a fun, some are just hard and some a just trash. You can't guarantee what you'll get in an online experience as a lot of the players you are paired with are people you'd probably never game with in real life due to being angry children or an adult with the emotional intelligence of an angry child.

Its a game its meant to be fun, if you ain't having fun then take a break.

  • The sad part is so many perks are rendered less effective to useless by people on voice chat its almost to much of a gamble to take them.

  • I watched one of their streams for the first time after a game and it's interesting to see my gameplay from the other side. I'll probably take note of user names and check it out post game in future just for interest sake. That said, the ttv folk are often the first to dc if you get an easy down on them early.

Yeah, it's only really good on legion and plague in my opinion.

I find I get a lot of game slowdown from thana when running doc. He finds people with little effort, so most games there is usually 2-3 injured and one hooked at anytime. Maybe I'm overestimating its impact as if you have enough pressure to hurt and hook everyone its probably contributing more to slowdown than the perk.

DH I often find either makes survivors run back into your face to draw a hit or mistime it and get hit anyway. Unless you are using it to bridge the distance to a pallet or window it doesn't seem to do a lot in a chase I find. Often it breeds over confidence and I get a free hit. Except when folks DH through a trap, then its a bummer.

  • I’m waiting for the cannibal to get a rework too. I’m sure I’ve said this before but the original Texas chainsaw massacre film plays out like a game of dbd. It’s got the hook the double hit and the chase.

  • Yeah if you get steamrolled don't always bother going to the gates, just walk around and kick pallets, close the hatch etc etc, usually if you got looped all game you are maxed out on chase anyway.

If you steamroll sometimes you kill everyone sometimes you give the hatch. The key to fun in this game is to take the focus off 'winning'.

As a behavioural ecologist I look at it from an evolutionary predator-prey perspective, (also I really only play killer), 75% to 80% of hunts are unsuccessful in nature, so as killer I expect to 4k 1 in 4 games at best and possibly 0k in the rest. With that in mind I go hunt and savor every lil success. The rest of the time I smack people, practice my looping and mindgames against strong survivors. If I get a bully squad I farm the points I can from them and then go make a cup of tea. I couldn't really give a damn about outcome, rank or the opinions of other players. That way this game is always fun. (also by not sweating and quitting early from the losses, my games have gone to a 50/50 3-4k vs 0-2k even when frequently paired against red ranks as a green).

You can always snowball a 4k in the egc so its never over (these wins are the saltiest hehe). That's how I have fun with it anyway. It's a game play it as such.

  • :)

The number of times I got stuck with a clipping error on a hedge or a pallet before the most recent update and usually most survivors would finish asap and leave but some more toxic teams would all taunt for ages so I'd have to just dc. This group was a rather nasty bully squad who really did out do me for experience so I thought what the hell maybe I can salvage a kill outa this with a lil deception.

  • hehe I do this a lot usually because I'm just bad though and the survivors get cocky and three gen themselves without any effort on my part.

I did once pretend to be stuck in animation revving my bubba saw, just pressing forward and back in succession really quickly while 99'ing the saw for 2 mins. All the survivors crowded around to butt dance and taunt in front of me and then I let rip. 4k with one gen left. You gotta cherish the little things.

  • Yeah can't say the chainsaws feel any different. Also it's a shame LF isn't better in general as the original texas chainsaw massacre film is basically dbd the movie midway through. Its got double hits, hooks and a great chase scene. drags out at the end though.

  • The wolf doesn’t concern itself with the opinions of the sheep.

  • Yeah in only a month of frequent questionable match ups I’ve gone from getting steamrolled every second game to 2 to 4 k matches. I’ve even got to break out the moris for some fun. Red and purp ranks get the saltiest when they lose, not all but a lot do.

Remember it’s a game if you get steamrolled just queue again. Face camping rarely pays off. Hopefully mm will get better soon.

  • I have to agree somewhat with the op. The big draw of this is hey it’s silent hill but the mechanics seem lacklustre at best.

  • In terms of time management the cost of mistakes for killer appear much greater than the costs of mistakes for survivor. If you make a few and everyone gets out oh well queue again, survivors will likely call you baby killer etc... who cares. If you 3 or 4 kill then great cherish the moment, survivors will likely call you trash killer tunneler baby killer again who cares.

I've bought rare addons and a mori into the game before and got only one kill out of it because, I got out played and good on them for a good game. However the one guy I did kill felt the need point out how I wasted my mori, but hey I killed him with it so not wasted to me.

I think the anxiety comes from the general poor player interaction when you forget all of that and just focus on your fun this game is great. Sucks to lose expensive addons offerings to SWF swat team or even bad match-ups but there are always more to get and bp's are infinite. so the loss is minimal and the opinions of others about it are irrelevant.

  • That happens a lot to me and usually the dead guy is really salty in that scenario. I prefer to look at it from a blood points perspective being how highly ranked they are they really should have been able to earn more. Technically you won that match on BP's.

I'd say lately my games have been 50/50 facestomp bad match followed by a balanced fun game followed by a facestomp bad match.

  • From a thematic perspective its a great idea, and if survivor mode was single player I'm sure it would add a mountain of jump scare value to the game. Even non stealth killers would get the jump on you. Also you would need some people repairing and some people keeping watch which is a good level of realism promoting team work and slowing down the gen rush culture that seems to prevail.

However this is pvp and it would be dull to just stare at the generator for the whole repair time. It would also make getting killer grabs stupidly easy and cut down a lot of chase which is a large part of the game. So I can see why they won't do it and for good reason.

  • Not exactly.

There were suggestions to accompany the change with a notification pointing out someone is afk etc, which would help in terms stopping someone coasting through the game. However it still results in a reduced survivor team even if the killer gets to locate and sac the afk/non participating person. Hence the "do something about afk escape safety pips" being the new forum rant.

If the non participant does manage to ride out the game and escape then they are guaranteed to not de-rank so the reasons to not exploit the auto safety pip is really not much of a deterrent.

It is bad play that is protected from penalty unless the killer decides to police it. Now a free hook and sac I'd take so maybe killers will be likely to police it, that's just me. Survivor QOL is still reduced though.

Easier to make non participation un-viable in that you don't earn enough to even safety pip and minimal to no blood points. Sure there are games when you think man I should have pipped but its better than man I got steamrolled again because that jerk was not participating, which I still say there would be an increase in with any kind of safety net.

This is only if rank is important to someone. Personally I don't care, BP total is more important to me than rank as rank is virtually meaningless to the bp grind outside of how easy it is to get blood points based on opposing team's experience level.

I agree with you that the emblem system needs some tweaking, but auto safety pips for escaping probably aren't the answer for balance and as gaming history has shown us anything remotely exploitable will be exploited.

  • If you always safety pip just for escape then people will exploit it, hide in a basement locker for the whole game and still be safe at their rank. It would lead to a reduction in game quality not an improvement. Then the complaints will be AFK survivors impossible only 2 or 3 active players.

Although as a killer main if folks want to afk so I can smack and hook them for free while pressuring fewer opponents... then I say go for it.

1 … 69 70 71 72 73
