Nah you right, for survivors it's just a guessing game and tbh for killers to a certain degree but spirits actually have some info to go off of where survivors only have the whooshing that means shes in a somewhat close proximity to you, good luck.
Yes and that is hard but it’s different from the typical game. I think the reason you get so many spirits at high rank is it’s hard to abuse loop mechanics against her because its a prediction game from both the killer and survivor perspective.
change the game play and all the established tactics are changed and people who can’t adapt cry about it. Because the one thing they can do doesn’t work well anymore.
spirit is just nurse where both survivor and killer have to predict what’s happening, while with nurse only the killer really has to.
try juking her rather than looping and change your game up.
-
its a different kind of game with her. It becomes a guessing game of prediction. If every killer just played the same loop game that would be even more boring.
Killers are different that’s the point. I like the spirit guessing game it’s a change from the usual loopy loop that dbd often devolves into.
-
You played 3 games. He’s a slow burn killer who gets more powerful as the game progresses. I don’t do great with him but I want to get better as I’m a fan of Halloween.
I’d say I do better with him than nurse or billy and oni, but that’s because I can’t flick well.
also it’s hilarious when a health survivor tries to body block an injured survivor or hook while t3 is up. Auto double down :)

Yeah with all that listed you could go round and get all the totoms but that's focusing totoms with your entire character, I run either gen fixer or healer builds so would disrupt my entire style of play for one hex 😕
Ok we’ll change the whole game so you can play the way you like.
sorry snide but seriously NOED has so many counters it’s not funny. Its also really obvious when it procs. Someone may get downed and if noed is up you gotta cleanse it or leave. Just because it’s the egc doesn’t mean you deserve to escape.
-
Had this happen after a locker grab on the new SH map last night. Not common but it does happen. Grabs are so buggy lately I never got the grab survivors off gens rift, heck even as silent wraith I’d just get stuck in animation for a few seconds then look around to see the survivor 10m away running.
-
Personally I love DH, I’ve played against it almost every game today and almost every one of them mistimed it, or dh into a wall, or just used it in the middle of nowhere and I caught up to them a few seconds later. Sprint burst often makes me look for another target unless I’m on a high mobility killer.
The best use of it so far was the guy who DH through my chainsaw at the hook. I would have had them both but the DH straight through to a pallet and got away it’s was a good play.
-
You know what I think you have the right of it game on.
-
Yeah I love playing leatherface, so am looking forward to the base change but I'm trying to use up a lot of my built up addons as the new versions seem worse. It's been a Cannibal fest all day today.
-
Its normal, just had two games in a row with level 1 and 2 I'm in green ranks atm although I've gotten to purp. All running DS, DH, and OoO, the usual. They butt danced and flashlight clicked all the usual and I thought yeah I'm gonna DC and have a different game twice in a row now.
You get the lol baby killer all the rest and I'm really tempted to grab a mori and beat sown the next team but its not their fault. When I use a mori I want it to be for some fun and a cool kill animation not because I get slammed by bad match making previously and am a lil frustrated with the game.
Yeah I know I'm doing the DC thing again but until the dev fix this I'm gonna make that choice like the adult I am. Its not about losing its about quality of the game. I'm happy to leave and let you think what you like to get better people to play with.
-
I don't think you have to be overly nice or malicious you just have to play the game. This is why BBQ is my number one perk. It means even if I'm at the mercy of terrible matchmaking I still walk away from a match with decent blood points if I hook everyone at least once.
Generally that makes me not tunnel or camp, buuuuut... if its the egc and I hook someone in the basement I might hang around a lil to get that kill because that is my objective. If I find no one but you after an unhook you may go back on the hook if I get ya. Its just part of the game. The same way if you are really good at looping you will probably run me for a gen at least and are right to do so. If I have no other targets you may get lucky and I'll fixate and you'll get 2 to 3 gens. It's just how the game is.
-
I got accused of camping just a moment ago, but BBQ showed nobody away from me and there was scratch marks around the hook not from the chase and a guy hiding right behind me as I hooked, the chases that ensued where around the hook! I mean where am I suposed to go?
-
@slunder said:
@pseudechis I said either remove or nerf, and the mori changes sounds good. I already replied to the rarity argument.
Yeah I read the post and the others, you said changed or removed. As I stated changed wouldn't be bad and many changes have been sugested but removed would make me sad because I personally don't think there is anything wrong with them. As typically I just eat my mori/key and queue again.
It wasn't a rant it was just an opinion answering what you had said changed or removed, if changed great, if not changed great if removed then bummer.
-
how long is his current tantrum? Was trying to search for it to find out, but duration is elusive. Feels like 3-5 secs.
-
Yeah they aren't balanced but I'd be sad if they were removed though, the kill animations really are good. I haven't seen them all yet and getting devour hope to full stacks can be some long odds.
I've been on the recieving end of both plenty of times, but can't say you come across them that often really. Some games they are completely wasted and never really get used, some games they completely decimate the oponent and end it quickly. I just appreciate the animation and then queue again. Same goes for keys but its not much of an animation.
Two hooks for an ebony mori wouldn't be the worst thing, wouldn't save much time really but it would counter the last minute DS run out the door play and remove the tunnel death 1-2 mins in.
-
Careful with potentially loaded questions. People always overestimate ability especially if they lack good ability to self assess, which most folk do. Also the worse you are often the more you over estimate how good you are, which I think is what leads to a lot of the salt in pvp games.
That said I'd say terrible with nurse, billy and oni, mediocre to average across the rest of the board, but I have more fun and more consistently 3-4k and rank up with Hag, Trapper and Doc so I'm probably better at them. Also I really enjoy Leatherface so am absolutely buzzing about his rework.
-
I really am not a fan of FNAF but that is the first piece of artwork I think would make it fit with dbd.
Also I'm a massive fan of Alien but it just doesn't feel like DBD again. Why would the alien be subservient to the entity? The idea is cool but it just doesn't mesh well I reckon.

Disconnecting is a pretty lousy move, but I can't hold it against anyone who is clearly being mismatched. Ultimately I stick it out only because I figured some blood points are better than no bloodpoints, especially when I'm using a cake. But if this keeps up, then I may just say "screw it" and start disconnecting, or stop playing the game altogether. No doubt many new players already have.
Yeah same here, I usually stick it out for the bp especially with the cakes, from other peoples BP bonuses you can still walk away with 50-90k even after a completely abysmal match. But when its the third or fourth quite obvious mismatch in a row sometimes I just think ah screw it.
I feel the smurfing teams have been worse during the event I rarely saw it prior to the cakes.

No problem and no worries as I didn’t view your initial post as a complaint. The thing with killers is that they all have such different play styles and one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. You might find that he just isn’t for you, but I would definitely still practise and see what happens.
Yeah I found that with nurse and billy, I can't flick or predict well... maybe one day. Also I really really want to like Myers but a slow build up always kills it for me. It's great once it starts rolling but sometimes it feels so sluggish. I like set up killers trapper and hag, it really satisfying to herd your prey into your traps.

Honestly it all just comes down to practise. I didn’t personally feel like I needed to ‘master’ him but that’s because like I said earlier, I play a lot of FPS, so to me, I have always felt at complete ease when playing him. All survivors have against killers are loops and pallets, when you get confident enough with him, he can take that all away. He can drag people back towards vaults and down them. Stop people reaching that corner of the wall, deny pallet drops and even drag people out of pallets who just wait under them. I’ve honestly had so many fun matches with him and most of it comes down to survivors not being able to predict me. A lot will run whilst looking behind as they think you’re going to shoot, which can give you easy downs when they run into a tree etc. I also pretend to shoot a lot to make survivors start trying to juke, as this can throw them off when you actually do shoot. Quick scoping is definitely the way to go with him. It doesn’t always pay off, but when it does, it feels so good.
Cheers mate, it wasn't really a complaint I was just curious. Like most killers once you sus em out they tend to feel pretty balanced. Its more that the games had a predictable consistancy that I usually don't experience with other killers. Seems like there is an established counter to him that people try first in the event you aren't great at getting the shots.
-
Most of the chat abuse I see is survivor on survivor. I cop a bit as killer but survivor on survivor is just viscious. Even if I 4K the salt is usually hurled among the team mates not often at me.
Unless it was a killer shack basement trapper lockdown game then I get the camper abuse. But hey if the other three people are hanging around the hook where else am I gonna be?
-
Ok these are all good points. I'll stick with him. 4.4 killers always feel a lil painful to me as the only one I play is hag and I main her. But then again if you are chasing someone as hag something has gone wrong. Hag hits should really be teleport hits.
It just felt like a well used counter as almost every survivor did the same thing every match, just run to the same loops without fail. It was almost like it was an understood counter to get him into that kind of play asap. It got predictable and resulted in some easy hits but really was odd. I'll stick with him, cheers for the replies.
-
Personally I don't mind DH, most times it gets mis-used, mis-timed or makes people cocky and screw up anyway. I'd say DS is a little more broken than DH. The idea being that DS is to counter tunneling is a bit of a joke as the best way to counter it is to tunnel it out early and then finish that poor guy off.
-
Who cares, if survivors want to butt dance let them. Part of any PVP game is tilt.
Players in any competitive game play the player not the game. The more you tilt your opponent the more they make bad choices and mistakes. So obnoxious behaviour has some beneficial result. Some people I'm sure just think its funny, which is usually at the exit gates, with no practical application, and hey if you want to wear out your keyboard on my account go right ahead I'm completely indifferent.
I'm not advocating obnoxious behaviour, but that's the pragmatic competitive idea. Personally I'd rather just play the game and not bother with all the flashlight clicky butt dancy nonsence but some players can only do well if their opponent is making mistakes, so adding tilt is their thing.
Personally I'm happy when people butt dance after a pallet stun because they could have used that time to get away, make distance and extend the chase, instead they just wasted their advantage thank you for the free hit :)
I only go to the gates if I'm not maxed out on chase, have a chance to cut off survivors for a down or have NOED etc otherwise if its been a snowball you're better off busting pallets, closing the hatch etc etc. Sometimes its good to chase people out the door if they are bleeding every second out of the egc.
Also the psychology of ego means that people will almost always chose to perceive success as the result of their own actions rather than the actions of others or random chance. This is especially true in a fantasy setting where the perception of power is fabricated and actual skill and achievment is minimal.

I try and avoid playing late at night since that's when I too experience less than favorable matchmaking. I try not to let the toxicity get to me since most matches don't have that, but I agree it can be really deflating when you come across it. Regardless if you're a survivor or the killer, you can clearly tell when you're playing with less than experienced players, and the last thing you want to do is to be a dick and turn them off from playing the game altogether.
And as much as I would love to just disconnect from a lousy game, I don't want the game to punish me because the game is either unfairly balanced, or worse, glitched. I experienced a pretty bad glitch with Pyramid Head in one match where his trails of torment speed got locked into his normal movement speed. Because of this I was unable to catch up to any survivor. I wanted nothing more than to drop out of the game, but I didn't want to be penalized for the game's own failures.
Yeah I understand this entirely. Although there has been no DC penalty lately. I'm not advocating DC'ing but I'm not gonna lie I have dropped out of one or two games the last few days and every time its been a 1,1,1,15 set up. All with meta perks.
It's not about winning, sometimes you just don't want to sweat you butt off for even one kill especially when on the first pick up you are body blocked all the way to the hook or someone is noise notification spamming on the other side of the map. These are the kind of games that make me think I probably wouldn't choose to game with someone like them for any other reason, so why would I do so now? I choose not to.
The end game chat is usualy really abusive when I have done this and while I get that people get pissed of for wasted time, the level of abuse only confirms to me that I made the right choice. This game is fun win or lose but sometimes you gotta say I'd rather play with somebody else and requeue.
-
Yeah getting to close to real life is a bit to on the nose. Also Zodiac used a gun in most of his killings and that doesn't really fit in DBD.
I like that gunslinger's gun is a harpoon and not an actual gun.
-
Yeah if only it was possible. This game is so easy when you are on comms its basically cheating. But hey it is what it is.
-
Yeah FNAF is crap. I hope it never comes to DBD. It won't be game breaking if it does I just won't buy it unless there are some seriously good perks included.
Also my dislike of FNAF doesn't invalidate anyone's like of it. I just don't like it and don't think it fits in DBD.
-
I had the problem of not being able to activate bloor rage in one match on haddonfield. Play a game with him today no probs so the even the bug is buggy hehe.

And make sure you get paired by highest rank, please. Too many SWF's do this.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SZP4PAODSTVC/wtfbhvr.jpg
Yeah I see this a lot, sometimes the low rank has better perks than the ranks 1's. The only counter is to make sure the matching is always pairing the highest rank survivor with the highest rank killer.
I'm sure its not always intentional but when it is, its about the scummiest thing in game.
-
Its not toxic but can feel oppressive sometimes when playing killer. Especially if you get your first down and 2 gens pop. This can happen even after a shorter chase if it took you a moment to find the first survivor due to low mobility killer patroling a larger map. By no means is the game over but its now a sweat your arse off affair to recover especially against people on comms.
When facing 3-4x DS and a bunch of other second chance perks, recovering the 10-11 hooks needed in three gens time is basically a ######### show for the killer unless the survivors really screw up.
This is why a lot of games become a tunnel or camp because a lot of killers end up against coordinated teams with no chance of recovery once it starts to tip. The mindset become ok get at least one kill or max pressure by removing this target asap. I mean lets call tunneling what it is its... hook rushing. If I can off someone in two hooks early then man did the game just become easier. It just makes sense a lot of the time and you can't really blame people for going for it.
I think being injured should slow down your speed at other things forcing you to heal. I've had whole teams of injured survivors who just focus on gens, no bones, no healing etc etc especially if they are running adrenalin. Then complain about NOED etc etc.
I think many people's fun is based solely on winning which for survivors is to escape. They don't need to interect with the killer they just need to escape and that's their fun. As survivor there is something thrilling about evading the killer. What you gonna do though?
-
The hook handed killer is definitely one of the horror tropes that is missing from the game. While I think both films are a bit weak, last summer and candy, I think the last summer is a better killer.
There is something more sinister again about the figure returned for revenge over the fantastical threat that needs to be summoned.
Jason was at his most terrifying when he was just a disfigured nut with a bag on his head, when he became unkillable zombie monster it started to get silly.
-
Game looked fine to me, maybe widen the patrol around the hooks but its a big map that one so not walking to the other side of the map to look at gens isn't that bad of an idea, but better survivors will punish you for not pressuring gens over returning to the hook to soon.
The hook for hook exchange is a big part of getting a killer snowball started so you make the call.
You made the right choice with the second hook in the basement. The unhooker got to a pallet and away, the guy who was unhooked ran into a dead corner making him an instant down. Now the polite/foolish thing to do would be to leave him slugged and find someone else... the prudent and intelligent thing to do is put him back on the hook. That wasn't tunneling that was punishing a big survivor mistake.

I respect your opinion, however thats why people bring up Springtrap instead of Freddy or anyone else in the series. Springtrap legitimately looks scary, probably scarier than most of the killers in the game. Take away the FNAF name to him for a sec, and you have a tall robot with withered and worn parts that are covering a rotting and decaying body, you can even see the ripped up flesh underneath his limbs and face. BHVR would design their own version of him, and Im sure they would make him look very fitting for the horror genre of the game.
Point well made. He is definitely the most similar in terms of artwork etc. I still feel its hard to distance a character from the franchise it comes from and probably wouldn't look forward to FNAF DLC.
I'm not saying it would ruin the game I'm just saying I'd find it hard to fit it in. There are definitely other killers I'd rather see before an FNAF inclusion. But more content is better than less. What would the map be like though?
I'm not a huge Silent Hill fan either, its an interesting idea but I always found it clunky and the movies a lil meh, but that's typical of a film based on a comp game. Will probably get the DLC eventually but not till its on sale. I'd be in the same boat with FNAF.
Also it doesn't have to be slasher flick specific, stranger things for example, which I do love, and the demogorgon is already the servant of some other entity so it already kinda fits. SAW less so but its more torture porn than slasher, never been a big saw fan botchy story relying on to many disjointed flashbacks (usually a sign of poor story planning). But I get off topic sorry.
-
I kinda disagree about FNAF being included. The points you raised are all valid opinion, but baiscally FNAF has a really cartoon like aesthetic which just doesn't fit well in DBD.
Yes there is bunny feng, but its a jumper not really a comedic costume. The new legion skins are an easter egg SH purchase basically that I have personally never seen once in game yet. I'm not overly impressed by them so I probably wouldn't get them but if you like em great go buy em. It's a minor addon not a whole DLC.
The FNAF cartoony theme I have never found scary. If you are bound by license to recreate a character then you have to kind of stay within the confines of how they look. (Speculation here but I'm sure that's part of why the silent hill skins are all one set, correct me if I'm wrong).
Yes the lore is very dark but its more than just that. Look at the theme/atmosphere/art style of DBD and ask yourself how well does FNAF really fit into it outside of the dark back story.
-
Yeah this game has a dark and gritty nature usually not captured by many comics and anime, there are exceptions. But I have to admit I find that most anime would not fit into the lore or the style. Also most comics would not fit into the lore or the style.
I am a fan of anime and dark comics, some of the best stuff out there is anime/manga but it just feels to 'cartoony' for DBD.
I mean you could imagine them adapting say a shinigami type character with a deathnote type survivor, but the spikey hair and angular art of anime would have to be completely reworked to fit with the dbd aesthetic and that's hard to do if you are under license.
-
Yeah I have plenty of iri kings/queens it Calm notes I keep running out of hehe.
-
Yeah a lot of what gets called toxic is "I got outplayed and am frustrated by it". I'm sure some people make reports purely because they lost and are unhappy about that. I still think the report systems plays a purpose. People who indulge in abusive, threatening, racist, sexist post game chat should be called out for it and suffer consequences.
While there is obnoxious behaviour in game the only real measure of toxicity would be the level of abuse leveraged at others in post game chat. But someone would have to be trawling through the chat logs of every game to see that only the most abusive/obnoxious gamers get paired with each other. Its best just to cut your losses when you get a bad game and ignore the post chat salt win or lose.
Often reading chat makes everyone a loser.
-
Hannibal Lecter.
Jack Torrance from the shining, Jack Nicholson skin with axe... Danny Boy!
Somekind of shadow person inspired from sleep paralysis/sleep disorders as a sufferer of insomnia I can tell you it can be terrifying.
Maybe some classic horror like the mummy, wolfman, swamp thing/creature from the black lagoon.
The problem with FNAF is its very cartoony, and not really in keeping with the DBD aethetic, jusy my opinion.
-
Yeah in all seriousness, I like the realistic look of the weapons. It adds to the gritty nature of the game, there is something really unnervingly sinister about clown with the razor. The legion's hunting knife again just downright sinister. The trapper with the machete.
Oversized anime style weapons often look silly, sorry PH but I'm not a fan of the jumbo sword. I like the fact that the devs looked into making animations consistant with the type of weapon used. I'll have to look more closely next time I'm playing.
-
There is already an asymetric predator game so probably not. Also as has been said predator and alien don't really seem to fit with the DBD theme. in my opinion.
-
Its about TMI.
-
Oh so many penis jokes went through my mind when I saw this.
-
Haha I'm gluten free and vegan but I'm not going to be annoying about it... to late.
-
I have to admit I started a game as killer the other night which began with two people just making noise notifications over and over and over, just banging in my headphones and I thought nah I don't want to play with these people. No DC penalty. The extreme salt in the endgame chat and the rampart back and forth abuse between the survivors tells me I made the right choice.
Outside of this kind of obnoxious playing with people you would never game with under any other circumstances scenario you can't really justify the DC.
The whole I DC when it's freddy, or doc etc etc is just I don't know how to play against these characters and will probably lose, its not fun if I lose so I'm going to just quit.
Hmm I have also had a lot of lag switching during the event, the survivors who seem to port away from you, who can't be hooked etc etc, I like having the option to leave a game like that without penalty. Sadly the lack of penalty does let the wah wah tantrum crowd off the hook. I probably won't be bringing to many mori's while there is no DC penalty.
-
I like the fact that there is a killer with a different kind of mindgame, baiting the survivor rather than doing the moonwalk flip flop that almost every other killer uses. Diversity mixes up the gameplay. I think people get pissy because they are one trick ponies and when their one trick doesn't work rather than adapt they just rage quit and complain. I've been outplayed as spirit plenty of times, it can be done.
-
You might see an uptick in SWF, but SWF isn't the problem its 'SWF on comms' that breaks the game. Personally I don't like using comms when playing survivor even when playing with friends, because it really kills the tension factor of not knowing. That said though when on comms you get more BP's because the game is infinitely easier when passing up to the minute information that you aren't supposed to have, making using comms worth it to reduce the BP grind. Albeit at the killer's expense.
Hopefully crossplay will just mean shorter queues and better pools to draw from resulting in better matching without a major uptake info sharing SWF.
-
This game is not survivor sided. Nor is it killer sided.
As a killer mostly, there are maps I like to get and maps I hate to get but I win and lose on them about the same. I just have to sweat more for the 3-4k on some maps over others.
My kill rate went up when I learned when to drop a chase, when to slug, when a camp is advantageous and when a tunnel is a good idea. Where to pressure next and the places survivors were most likely the run to especially when healing etc. Sometimes I guess wrong and yes mistakes are more costly for the killer than the survivors due to time being much more valuable for the killer.
Things that annoy me are... I seem to spike in lag during jukes especially on corn maps making hits that should connect miss completely. It extends chases and when it happens multiple times it can quickly snowball into a survivor sided match.
I often get a scenario where clicking m1 results in no response in the game and again a missed hit. It annoys me too but its all on my end. Yes I get outplayed more than this happens but getting out played doesn't annoy me someone will always outplay you eventually and props to them if they do (and aren't a wanker about it in post game chat).
I feel being a survivor on comms is basically cheating. I like to play with my friends, but it is so easy once your buddy can tell you who the killer is, where the killer is, where they are laying traps etc. I actually don't like it, when I play suvivor I want the tension of not knowing, its part of the game. When we are on comms it just feels to easy, that said BP's for survivor can be hard to get if you aren't doing a lot and doing well, we get a lot more BP's on comms than not and so people will continue using comms for the advantage. Its usually quite obvious when people have that kind of coordination and as killer I just suck up the loss and move on.
Match making is a mess and can make survivors seem overpowered, this I agree with but there is a fix in the works so we'll just have to wait and see. Now smurfing is something I see a lot of. A survivor group of rank 1, 1, 2, 19. This is basically lackluster survivors who want to keep their rank by getting lower level killers to play against. It's scummy and match making should always try and pair killer with the highest ranked survivor in the group. People justify this by saying they want a relaxed match but in reality they often still bring meta builds into this scenario, what they really want is an easy win at the expense of a less experienced player, so yes its scummy.
When these things combine as they often do I think "jesus this game is survivor sided" but then I snowball 3-4k in the next two matches and then get stomped again in the third and I realise that this game is like any other... you win some you lose some.
-
No, it is basically a killer second chance perk that can snowball in the late game. People complain about it because once gens are done they expect to escape whether they cleasned bones or not, and when they get insta downed they get salty. I'd say the nearest survivor equivalent would be adrenalin. However adrenalin has fewer counters than NOED yet folks complain about NOED more.
Just because a bunch of killjoys whine about it on the forums does not make it toxic. Also anyone who says "I never run it because of some moral code of gameplay" is just deluded.
You'll eventually hit a point where it becomes less useful/more niche because you'll be getting those downs pre-endgame making it a dead perk slot. Even so, it will still have its uses, especially against groups who do gens and nothing else. So you gamble, do I make a well rounded build for the whole game or do I bank on some end game power that may be countered the instant it appears.
Its a perk that has its uses and its counters, basically if you want to run NOED then run it.
-
Yep as killer half your games are a toxic bowl of crap. Made worse by the bad match making. But what you gonna do eh?
-
Just because the killer hooked everyone at least twice before the egc doesn't mean they deserve a 4k, the same as just because you completed all gens doesn't mean you deserve to escape. You could be killed at any moment for a variety of reasons just as the killer could lose you and you get an escape. That's the game! If you hate the idea of the game why do you play it? NOED is fine, DS, BT, DH are fine.
Stop whining and just play the game.
