  • Yeah the auto mori is the odd thing about this.

What if you only have 3 BBQ stacks and this is the first down on that last survivor.

Its a good idea, but it should be activated so you could hook or give hatch if you wanted.

Personally I'd like to see the egc just make you able to mori people. last or otherwise.

  • Custom game bots finally. It'll take a year but finally.

  • Do we have to be a backer on patreon to get the latest build or are they going to offer it free on pornhub games like all the other wierdo dating sims?

    Asking for a friend lol.

Jokes aside, If that's your thing go for it, but man is it a wierd idea. DBD is already becoming a joke why double down on that.

Not a chance, haven’t touched it in a month and don’t see a reason to get back on so far.

That’s probably a good thing it sounds like you were taking it all too seriously anyway.

  • It was bound to happen eventually.

Fun while it lasted to do something different though. Back to the same ol same ol.

  • Because sometimes you are in it for yourself.

Survivor is a team game and just like any survival horror some people will be altruistic and some people will be selfish.

The odd thing about DBD is players expect everyone to be altruistic and get all angry when they are not. Guess what… selfishness will trump altruism in a lot of scenarios so in a survival setting you may want to assess just how altruistic you wanna be.

Unless you are playing with friends or a team who want to prove themselves valuable so you can keep playing together, you should anticipate some level of selfishness from strangers.

Especially in a no real consequences, doesn’t really matter, low stakes environment like an online game.

If two survivors are in the same spot and their time is running out the killer is likely to stay. It makes sense. Going away means they get to save the two for free, weakening the position of the killer. Staying basically either confirms two kills or gets the snowball rolling if the team decides to come save (which would also mean that little to no gens are being worked in, which means there‘s nowhere else for the killer to be).

Yes, camping doesn‘t have cut as frequently as some people claim but if 2 or more survivors are in the same spot sticking around is the most logical play to make for a killer.

and the trophy for mansplaining goes to…

I know how the game works it’s just there was an old bug that meant if you were under the hook you couldn’t be picked up.

OP asked why people crawl under hooks well trying to use that bug to get 4 mins of bleed out timer over death hook was common. Established behaviours die hard even when they don’t work anymore.

  • It doesn’t suck, it’s just tedious and repetitive like almost every other aspect of DBD.

There is enough fun to get me into about 3 -4 games a week these days.

All the threat is largely gone.

  • I gotta disagree I think they just make him look like a douche.

There is a universal rule to the world and that’s…

    Leather Jacket - cool

    Leather vest - not cool

Also what’s with the fake comedy beard?

  • Sadly blindness is hard countered by comms.

Its a good idea but once again only works against solo survivors.

The problem with teams on comms is, its a no drawback information perk that is always available, improves coordination and invalidates much of the killers in game tools and even some killers powers.

Its game breaking to the point of no fun.

  • @LordCyphre said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2952083#Comment_2952083

And then what? Being left to bleed out on the floor while the other survivor gets sacrificed because the killer‘s just camping? I know about the exploit but what does it manny if they‘re dying while getting camped anyway?

A lot of killer players would leave you on the ground and go hunt someone else because they couldn’t pick you up.

Not every hook gets camped. People like to claim they get camped every hook, but there was a golden age when chases were far more viable and camping a less viable option.

Chains of hate release was great.

  • I’m afraid this is no better than the survivors who T-bag and flashlight click, noise spam and then say you deserved it because you did X. It’s all so childish.

If you want to camp and tunnel just do it. You don’t need a reason, you don’t need to use it as some spiteful weapon to punish other players whom you don’t like.

I agree it’s nuts how seriously people take this crap. But you talk about keeping a grounded perspective while complaining in the same manner as the survivors you are denigrating.

Yeah as killer I don’t enjoy when survivors play really obnoxiously as it breaks the immersion for me and I don’t like it, but that is 100% a me issue and as an adult I can just to move on to the next game. Because it’s only a game.

    I'd be happy to.

Okay so for literally the first 3 years of it's existence DBD had many ups and downs and struggled to stay above 20k average players, it took a massive license like stranger things to push it over just over that hump.

DBD survived on 3 years on a fluctuating over under average of 20k so keep that in mind as we keep going. So DBD is at a very stable 23k average for about 6 months from September 2019 to February 2020 and that seems to be it's ceiling.

BOOM! 32k in March BOOM! 40k in June. A game that hadn't grown it's playerbase by 10k in nearly 4 years grew by 17k in just 4 months. The double hit of a global pandemic and obtaining Silent Hill back to back artificially inflated the numbers of this game to insane levels.

Then add RE the next year on top when we're still not fully out of the pandemic and forget it DBD starts hitting the top of the steam charts. But that was never a real number, as we come back from a pandemic and the high of big licenses wears off we come back to DBD's true numbers.

My guess is we still have more to fall and accounting for growth it normally should have gotten we'll probably settle around 26 or 27k. DBD isn't dying it's just not as big as a lot of people who recently came in thought it was. This isn't slight against it it does very well as a niche horror game and I'm sure it will in the future for at least the next couple years.

You take this rational thinking crap out to the street it’s got no place in these forums.

but yeah basically this. Any comparison between lockdown numbers and post lockdown numbers will be downward trending.

That said it’ll be interesting to see if it keeps downward trending into next year.

It’s not a sky is falling dooms day but comp gamers are often a fickle bunch who are easily lead, low attention span kinda dullards and we know even the rumour of games dying can start the bleed that eventually makes it a reality.

I am also not a big fan of SBMM and current game state making me play a lot less than I used to.

  • Bad players are gonna be crappy no matter what you do in game. It’s says more about them than you.

So play how you like when you like and damn anyone who tells you otherwise.

It’s your fun why compromise it or feel bad because someone else wants to ruin it for you purely because they are a bad sport.

The wolf does not concern himself with the opinions of sheep.

  • Tombstone Myers, jumpscare myers

Iri huntress, spirit, nurse, any NOED.

I like facing killers whom actually feel threatening or creepy, nothing worse than a game of skill check simulator then walk out the gate.

It’s survival horror, as survivor I want the can I survive Halloween experience not the Scooby do I would’ve gotten away with it if not for you meddling kids experience. Sadly as survivor DBD often feels like the latter.

I miss old ebony moris for this very reason, the threat of death was real from game start.

  • Yeah I get choppy when chasing survivors it makes me whiff a lot because on my screen they are in front of me I swing poof they are behind me.

A slight stutter makes juking really easy for even the most predictable survivor.

Makes for frustrating games because everyone believes it’s their mad skills when the reality is it’s just my bad connection.

  • There was an old bug that often made it so you couldn’t pick up a survivor from under a hooked survivor.

People may still be trying to exploit that in the hope it’ll work.

  • Sure then revert the pallet hit validation because it makes most pallets a pretty safe bet and chaining them is not hard at all.

Can’t recall the last time I got hit through or got a hit through a pallet stun.

removing bloodlust would just result in more dropping of chase and endless looping neither of which is very interesting.

  • he can be played around in chase pretty easily.

Coordinated teams should be able to pull of a save against him if camping, it’s hard but not impossible.

There is not much of a mindgame with him that doesn’t end up being M1, as it’s not that hard to play around the saw and induce a tantrum.

Yeah if you can steer him and time the saw well and know how to manoeuvre to even deny BT, he can seem pretty strong, but he’s mid tier at best really.

  • Trickster, because his aesthetic is laughable, his mechanics are crummy.

pyramid head and artist. I’m not a big silent hill fan anyway but it’s more about they feel similarly clunky to me so I struggle to do well with them.

    Twins again mechanically clunky.

Pig she has no real power, traps don’t do much unless you play afk pig then traps a are a lot of fun.

I find blight’s pin ball bounce silly, great theme and aesthetic but bumper car gameplay is meh.

I can’t steer oni and billy to save myself but I still like em. Billy’s roar since the nerf is ugh though.

  • The kicker is hit validation. DH used to be a crap shoot because you’d end up exhausted on the ground. It was the hit and miss error laden element of it that made it balanced.

Without that it’s kinda broken so everyone runs it because it does so much for so little.

It either needs some kind of drawback that can result in it’s failure or changing the distance gain or iframes.

It’s perfectly good perk that does what it should but with validation being what it is it now does it a lil too well.

  • DS is fine it does what it’s supposed to do. Let’s you get a hit in if downed again straight after being unhooked. It’s no longer the 1min of action immunity it used to be.

DH again is mostly ok it’s just the hit validation in DH and maybe the free distance mini sprint burst that make it unbalanced.

With the changes to hit validation it’s pretty evident how reliant on it a lot of killer play was, moreso than mindgames.

I played a tombstone piece myers and left the game with 6k points. Yeah I’m glad I wasn’t around with the old moris

Tombstone Myers is definitely for the fun of it not the points.

He’s my fav Myers though to play and face. So deadly, creepy and scary great game all round.

After all these years I’ll trade bps for fun any day. But yes for new players the grind needs to be addressed.

  • Then we could hand free dc’s too, maybe let the survivors know what the killer is and their build in the lobby so people could just dodge every lobby they didn’t like till they got a killer they did.

I know let the survivors choose the killer and their perks for them then they can always have what they want.

I think the forums should have complex math or word problems to solve before you get to post to weed out the stupid.

(yes this is snide and mean but seriously have you read half the crap on these forums)

it was fun, but it heavily promoted tunneling. nothing wrong with it from a gameplay perspective as killer, but as survivor? imagine going against a camping killer. your BT,DS,UB,etc does NOTHING

I did many times. Can't say it ever really bothered me because the threat of elimination was exciting. Everyone has different things they want from a game, but I'd rather get killed in 2 mins after a couple of high stakes chases than uneventfully spend 10min sitting a gens without any excitement, but that's just me.

I liked getting mori'd because hey it was thematic. It rarely happens now, makes play survivor more dull.

How am I supposed to have fun in the game if toxic entitled killers don't give me hatch

    That line's a joke right?

If not then you have fun by not taking it so seriously and getting all pissy when you don't escape. Just because you died doesn't make it toxic.

If it is a joke then I tip my hat to you. Comedy always trumps tragedy when gaming.

  • Yawn try again.

I play more survivor these days, like everyone else. Not that it matters.

My advice is stop being silly and just play the game, you clearly take this crap to seriously.

You are trying really hard, but what you write is just not funny, maybe try to resist getting on your high horse when saying something, a high horse you got no business being when you came here to whiteknight some trolly dick

Look up the definition of white knighting you got it wrong, I mean the act of fraudulently coming to the rescue rather than the urban dictionary sex act. Speaking of high horses you came here on yours to accuse others of being a scumbags for how they play, I just took a jab at you for that, if my high horse is a pony then yours is a Clydesdale in this scenario. Oh the irony lol.

Whether you find it funny doesn't matter its kinda at your expense and you took the bait beautifully. I mean if you gonna make trolly jab posts like that, you can't let yourself get baited when someone trolls you for it. Dish it out but can't take it kinda guy eh?

But truely if you think some unresolved conflict exists between us then it really doesn't. Stop taking it all so seriously really that's a genuine piece of advice, I'll upgrade my high horse from a pony to a steed.

Same goes for all the folks constantly accusing each other of tunneling and camp etc etc. stop taking it all so seriously its bad for you and the game. Peace out on this one.

  • The thing you misunderstand about the Peter principle is it’s an institutional failure not an employee failure.

MMR will keep promoting you because it doesn’t really assess skill it only records kills and escapes which can be independent of actual player skill in many scenarios. It’s not the fault of the player that this happens it’s the mmr.

Blaming mmr would be applying a simplified Peter principle because it’s inadequate at assessing the skill set of players and matching them accordingly. So blaming bad implementation of mmr is more akin to the actual Peter principle than blaming the actions of the players themselves.

neurologically games and their subsequent skill caps are more closely related to the idea of intellectual flow and how it oscillates between apathy and anxiety based on perceived ability, similar to competitive sports.

People hit a skill cap competitively where anxiety overtakes ability and the effort to improve is replaced by apathy about what’s needed to improve further so they end up frustrated rather than motivated. This is player fault and could be used as a measure of competence but it’s more akin to motivation.

I guess my point is for the Peter principle to apply here you’d have to blame the mmr because the Peter principle requires inadequate assessment of skill by the institution not the individual. The individual is often oblivious to their skill cap under the Peter principle.

  • @drsoontm said:

    This reasoning is flawed.

With the Peter Principle, the subject doesn't get adjusted down, which is tragic. This doesn't apply here, obviously.

Tunneling and camping are two valid and effective tactics if used properly. Getting more difficult matches because one has won isn't in any way harmful.

Not using an effective tactic amounts to throw the game. It may give to easier matches but it's not ideal and may even dull the player's skills.

The matching has many undesirable parameters : the time of the day, the wait time, if someone has dodged, ...

What's next? Doing generators effectively is harmful for survivors?

Yeah it’s a misunderstanding of what the Peter principle is. It doesn’t really apply here.

  • That's his go to insult. Its kind of a cover all blanket I'm pissy about something in game and angry at everyone for pointing out how silly I am, response.

Problem is I did that. I sorta stopped playing for this exact reason around artist midchapter I come back and the game is still as unfun :/

Take a longer break I’m afraid.

I play maybe one match every other day or so. The novelty has really worn off but it’s still fun once in a while.

If you get one or two fun games call it a day and finish on a high note it’ll make you want to come back. I only hate dbd when I have a couple of crappy games but don’t learn my lesson and just call it in an attempt to get one good one.

just like a bad chase you gotta know when to walk away. DBD is good in small doses.

  • That’s ok, I respect your dissenting opinion. It’s not unfounded as mechanically it was hugely unbalanced and needed to be changed.

but boy was it fun while it lasted.

  • The really old ones were dead if downed but I’ll settle for 1st hook

People have been licking the boots of Behavior since they announced David's story developments, no way they want to down play it at all.

Maybe it’s a backhanded stab at representation. We made him gay but Ha! That’s not important and neither is he, gotcha!

(Before anyone takes offence this is a facetious gag about the irony of a tome called the importance of being king that so far only requires his perks not him specifically).

Edit: maybe it should be the importance of being like king, it’s not about him it’s about using his perks.

  • I think killers are only boring when you try and play them all the same way. Some aren’t really built to chase so why chase in those scenarios.

Fun is in the eye of the beholder, I mean afk pig isn’t very interactive, one could say boring, but it’s exciting to see how many head pops you get, satisfying when you do get one, or better yet more than one and then the endgame is usually really sweaty as you try and get the last kills before the egc.

  • @Brimp said:

honestly trapper, not because playing him is boring, but playing the game in its current state is boring. If you could have a chance to 2k without survivors literally throwing the game then it would be much more fun to play.

Everything probably sounds like that to you, i play both sides

I never said you didn't but calling players scumbags for tunneling and camping which is what you are implying given the OP's topic is salt usually sprinkled from that side of the fence.

The only scumbags in DBD are the sore losers who can't laugh it off and abuse others about it.

Its either said in jest like my comment or genuinely belittling of the OP I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume the former because, having a sense of humour it works wonders 😝

I find nurse tough too but at least she has one of the creepiest horror aesthetics of the original killers so I keep playing her.

  • Don't let one bag egg tilt you.

This game is full of bad gamers like all PVP.

The funny thing is if you flipped this scenario on its head and bled that guy out you probably would have gotten a post game tirade about how you are toxic and trash etc etc.

Bad gamers be bad gamers win or lose and yeah it sucks when our sense of personal justice gets deflated due a lack of consequence for people's bad behavior. The internet is largely consequence free environment so that's just the nature of it.

Slug for the 4k or give hatch its up to you but do it because its what you wanted to at the time not what some jackass on the other side expected of you.

Its silly that people get so worked up over a game, it boggles my mind.

Although once or twice I have indulged someone doing that just to see how long they might stand there BM'ing for, it can go for a really long time, people really get off on it.

I often play dbd with movie playing in the background, I got through the whole opening chase scene of 28 days later once while some guy just BM'ed on top of the hatch (and noise spammed a vault that was next to it), that's like 15-20mins.

  • Bring back old ebony moris, or make mori basekit in the egc it'll never happen but I can dream though.

  • I think making the game FTP on epic was a mistake really.

  • Does anyone else get a "good idea boss" vibe from some of these changes lol.

  • @PBsamichShoe said:

Yeah, I agree. Since they nerfed keys and nerfed the hatch if the killer closes the hatch and you're the last survivor left there's basically no point in trying to get a gate open, especially with no way out.

If they're not going to nerf no way out they should just make it so if the killer closes the hatch and you're the last survivor left then you just die right when the hatch gets closed. Then killers are happy because they get their easy 4k and you don't have to deal with any bs waste of time and can move on to the next match.

There is plenty of opportunity to open the gates in the EGC even with no way out, its hard though because you'll eat up 1/3 of the egc timer evading the killer for the 60s the gate is blocked.

Its kinda RNG dependent but that goes both ways if the gates are close it favours the killer, if the gates are spread it favours the survivor. Same as any RNG gate patrol.

The telling part of this is the phrase "robbed of an escape."

They weren't robbed of an escape, killer found hatch first then no way out worked as intended. The survivor failed to avoid the killer for its duration and died as a result.

There is a real mindset of players that somehow if its the endgame they deserve to escape, there are plenty of endgame mechanics that could prevent that. Unless you are out the gates you are still in play and anything can happen.

Just killing the survivors when the hatch closes is a joke right, how does that make things better? The high stakes endgame should be fun but the OP and many of the commenters here are too hung up on not escaping to have enjoyed the game at that point.

Coming to the forums to say "I don't like this because I feel robbed" is different from saying "I don't like this nerf it so I get what I want."

1 … 34 35 36 37 38 … 73
