    Rework it entirely.

If the invulnerability stays, you have the same problem of having killers be scared of attacking a survivor because they could press a button that eats their attack, which is bad from a power role/fantasy perspective. If the distance stays, you have the same problem of survivors being able to ignore the normal rules of positioning by dashing forward to a window/pallet with the press of a button whenever they screw up, which is bad from a balance perspective. Sure, you could keep both aspects and add some arbitrary condition for it to be usable, but at that point you have to ask A) would it be enough? and B) would anyone actually run it still? And the likely answer for both is no.

The only way to nerf DH enough to have an impact w/o making it a dead perk (with the current perk roster, anyway, let's talk when they reveal some changes) is to go back to the drawing board and act like its first iteration never existed. I'm confident they can come up with something that suits the name (or just change that too) & theme of David King.

This is probably the most sensible take I’ve read on it yet.

DH was always good it was just inconsistent due to how hit validation worked. What beefed DH into the sky strength wise was reliable hit validation.

You’re safe with dead hard, you’re safe with pallets, you’re mostly safe with windows now. Maybe the issue isn’t DH specifically but rather hit validation as a whole.

    Stop Complaining About Unproblematic Perks.

    Stop Complaining about Unproblematic Killers.

    This goes for both sides.

You are probably not as good as you think you are.

    Stop.

    Crying.

    And Get Good!

    LOL

This is your irony 101 exam right?

Sorry I should've left it but its just pure comedy at this point.

  • I'd play more survivor if it felt more threatening.

I play DBD because of a love of old 80's horror. DBD is the closest thing that lets you recreate that to some extent in a game setting (F13 did it too but its very dated now).

While I get the competitive balance 50/50 for PVP, personally what I'm looking for is to recreate a classic slasher flick.

Scary killer, struggle to survive, 1 person left alive at the end (the quintessential "last girl"), hard choices, hard consequences.

Now there a lots of survival horror games out there in all kinds of genres (although mostly zombie horror). What do they all have in common though? you only play the hero survivor, never the villain or rarely the villain.

I really enjoy Terminator resistance its great but it shines when you play infiltrator mode.

AVP is a great game and it captures the style and feel of both the alien and predator making all three game modes great. Predator hunting grounds might be a lil easy to kill the predator but overall it does a pretty good job too.

DBD lets you be Micheal Myers, Leatherface, and a host of great original killers but its often more Scooby Doo than Halloween. The gameplay often involves wasting the killers time rather than trying to escape the killer.

I'd relish the game to be more threatening and exciting as survivor. Balancing around 50% escape rate often feels too safe.

There are enough survival horror games where you get to be the monster stomping hero I want to play the victim in a slasher film and try to survive. So It wouldn't bother me to balance around a 75% kill rate because heck I'd find both survivor and killer more fun then.

I get why they don't do that though because its PVP.

If you slug everyone until they bleed out, you are trying to ruin the fun. You must be one of them if you are trying to defend these types of players 🤷🏿

Nah I'd rather get my hook BP's and BBQ stacks but...

I'll say one thing I never cried over being slugged and bled out, I just crawl for dear life and try to hide in the long grass, its thematic.

If you do die in game at least try to die with dignity as its only a game and again what you described is just game play.

Feelings are personal and if you get triggered by this kind of gameplay, then like I said that's a you problem.

I like the way you say in your OP "play how you want" but then qualify that statement with "but if you do this you're a scumbag", purely on the basis that you are antagonizing yourself over imagined targeted play intended to ruin your fun.

"Play however you like, but do it how I want or you're a scumbag!" I fixed your statement for you... Strong the irony is with this one.

  • Not really because... well.. The thing is its only a game and doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

If you don't know what the reward is then don't rush out and P3 everyone in the hope of getting something only to be angry about wasting your time.

They said you won't lose all your progress (items etc) when you prestige under the new system, so why rush out and prestige under the old system where you do lose everything and have to grind it all back up?

I mean the intelligent answer is "they don't want FOMO whackos going nuts and grinding the hell out of the game for no payoff just because they announced a prestige change," which sounds like a logical reason to say there is a bonus for folks who have already prestige'd but its nothing that special.

  • I think equating almost anything in DBD to skill is just people padding their fragile egos.

DBD is pretty basic, most "skill" is the result of a bit of map knowledge, some good guess work, RNG, poor balance and a bit of luck. There is very little skill involved.

Remember the less intelligent you are the more you are inclined to attribute any success to your own skill than real factors at play.

Meaning if you are padding your ego by touting your skill, even just to yourself, then maybe you need to put down the video games and pick up a book once in a while.

  • I like NOED, I use it very little because well I don't usually need it, unless I'm making a more meme build and I want a lil something else in my back pocket or I'm making an endgame build. Also the inevitable exposed challenge.

I like facing NOED as survivor because even the most dull one sided games can be interesting in the endgame when its in play. Its a big threatening finale that makes the endgame exciting, kinda like a proper survival horror.

I've never felt "robbed" of an escape by NOED because it's just part of the game and until I'm out the door anything can happen. I think the only people who go on about feeling robbed by NOED are just sore losers who expected to escape in the endgame and didn't.

Its an empty perk for the entire game, it doesn't proc until the survivor objective is complete and it can be countered pretty quickly if survivors have even half decent awareness while playing. I'd say most games NOED gets maybe 1-2 kills value max unless the survivors are really careless and get themselves all slugged.

I can see why people got pissy about ebony moris, getting mori'd in 2 mins, your eliminated in no time and with ever longer survivor queues that's kinda crappy.

But for NOED you play a whole game of DBD before NOED even comes into play, only getting eliminated in the very endgame if it works. I don't get what kind of expectant entitled player you have to be to get angry and cry for nerfs over death in the very endgame due to a perk, as a team, you should have expected and been able to counter with a just lil game sense.

  • I've said this many times but if you fantasize about your opponent purposefully trying to ruin your fun then you'll only upset yourself every time.

What you list is just gameplay, it may be gameplay that upsets you but that's a you issue not a game issue.

  • Largely inconsequential in game meme, results in gross overreaction by players, its the DBD mantra.

  • I wish I had this experience.

Under the old system I could hover in the green/purp and generally have good games. Sometime mismatched up or down but mostly comfortable fun.

Now its 10x super strong survivor team losses typically highly obnoxious play and generally unenjoyable followed by 3x down everyone at 5 gens still up and stand there wondering if I should let them get up or just end it there.

Can't recall the last 'balanced' feeling match I had where I could play my usual half arsed self and not either end up having to sweat through my shirt to get 1 kill or wreck face in 2mins.

Survivor definitely feels more consistent but my killer games are all over the shop and mostly unfun as a result.

  • Revenue generating thirst trap that is all.

It doesn't bother me when its done to me unless its at the gate because at that point you're actually wasting my time. However like I said "Just because it doesn't bother you or me, doesn't make it ok for everyone."

Being empathetic is something this community needs more of, saying being a jerk for no reason isn't ok would be a nice start.

I agree, but even empathy won't stop it as its empowered by the social perception that it will have this negative effect.

The solution is to disempower it as an offensive action.

That starts with people realizing that the BM only influences you if you let it.

I stated why it can irk me but I don't let that influence my fun.

People will always be jerks for no reason but if the tools they use to be jerks have no real consequence, then their capacity to be jerks is largely impotent and that starts with people collectively saying "meh BM who cares."

  • @MrPenguin said:

    Mostly agree.

Just for BM, I would like people to advocate against BM more than for it because "muh fun at your expense" and saying "whatever its just a part of the game". Just because it doesn't bother you or me, doesn't make it ok for everyone.

Sportsmanship is still a thing and "fun" is no excuse to be a jerk to others just because. To be clear I mean things like T-bag and hook hitting that have no direct benefit and are basically just a middle finger.

Hook hitting never really got to me because it always struck me as thematically appropriate for leatherface et al to start carving me up after hanging me on the meat hook.

As for crouch BM'ing survivors its just silly, it only irks me because it can be immersion breaking and I play DBD for the horror theme nothing else.

Maybe you could just imagine they are pooping their pants at how scared they are of you?

But as a taunt its really silly, a stranger mashes buttons on their equipment adding wear and tear to it and RSI to their hands and I'm supposed to feel bad. Why not just smash their own keyboard and punch themselves in the face it'd have the same effect on me. EDIT : My point is its inconsequential so why let it upset you.

  • I honestly don't care about BP's anymore.

I just play to recreate a horror movie experience for myself.

Infinite T3 Myers, low BP's, so what, I stalked all game and then killed everyone bar one - HORROR MOVIE yeah!

Yeah a BP cap increase prob wouldn't be a bad thing at this point a lot of players have been playing for a long time. I still think a cap is necessary though as unrestricted BP's would just have the bot farmers peddling accounts and that would suck getting stuck in game after game of them.

  • No because playing with your friends is one of the big draws of this game.

Killer queue times would go up as swf players left.

That said, its been shown just how big of an advantage communication can be in game especially from a coordinated group of friends. I'd like to see the game balanced around that with brutally strong killers making even coms a QOL addition at best.

You could then have in game coms for PUG groups with a mute option.

Yes SWF are a major source of unbalance and toxicity, bad players tend to group together and feed off each others negativity, this doesn't get solved by banning SWF though.

  • Tunneling doesn't have to be malicious.

Are survivors choosing to not split up on gens to make sure they go slowly and everyone gets a full game, are they being malicious by not doing this in order to maximize pressure? No.

Its the same thing, people will play to win, probably more so when there's a bonus for playing to win. Such as 2x bloodpoints.

I'd expect killers to try hard to get the 4k meaning the most efficient strat is to get it down to 3v1 as quickly as possible, I'd expect survivors to try and smash through as many games as they can splitting up and focusing on gens.

Between that you'll probably get a few farmers.

If you fantasize about these things being a malicious attempt to upset your fun then you are guaranteed to upset yourself.

  • Oh man you take this non salty don't take it too seriously crap out to the street... this is DBD...

In all seriousness though I couldn't agree more.

There is plenty about this game I don't find fun but that is 100% a me issue, its not worth getting angry over and its certainly not worth abusing others about it.

When the game meets expectations then enjoy it, when it doesn't play it out and move on. After all its only a game it doesn't matter.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with complaining but people need to understand that "X is mechanically broken because of this..." is not the same as "I hate X get rid of it"... These two topics are often interchangeable for a lot of people and they take it unnecessarily personally and seriously.

  • I'm maxed out on BP's anyway so unless they raise the cap to 2mil, I haven't cared about BP's in a long time.

  • I don't know how sad and pathetic can your life be to get angry over something as silly as gameplay?

Just wait for all the scummy, scumbag, loser, small PP posts that will probably follow.

Camping works because people get tilted about it and play poorly as a result.

There is always a possibility you'll be camped at game start, play smart don't get found first, learn how to hook trade, run anti camping/tunneling perks and builds and learn how to use them not just try and do the same looping tactics regardless of build, or switch it up and play killer instead.

  • I'd say know when to drop bad chases. Either find the survivor you can catch (or are most likely to catch) or accept you will lose a lot of gens and just commit to a chase.

If you down that survivor then you have two options.

    1. Continue to chase learning what you can, this will probably result in pretty quick loss but you may get some value out of it, or...
    2. Accept that chasing is less efficient in this scenario and switch it up to hook defence, (AKA camping).

Now a lot of people will accuse you of being angry or malicious or trash or whatever but ignore them they are just bad gamers. <- this is very important.

When chasing is not, or no longer, viable or valuable (i.e outmatched or in the EGC). Camping becomes your primary tactic.

While it can be uneventful gameplay, you'll either...

-secure a kill for points, not very interactive but it is what it is.

-get some good interactive gameplay around the hook that involves hook trading giving you more points, or fail completely and everyone escapes, either is fine its all gameplay.

-grossly tilt your opponent into making big mistakes netting you a extra downs/kills. This last one is just a caveat of player perception of camping, good players won't get tilted or fall for this, bad players will get tilted and likely fall for it almost every time that's kinda why it works. Again it is what it is just gameplay.

Some other tips that helped me are,

if you don't want to wait out the egc then just chase players out, if you find yourself getting tilted by BM at the gate don't go to there and use the EGC to farm up points, break stuff/spam your power etc.

switch it up if you are getting flashlight saved etc then start slugging and just keep downing and slugging you'll farm up a bunch of points and then hooks don't matter.

ignore the flashlight clicky BM guy he wants you to chase him don't take the bait. If they follow you around doing that then, great you don't need to chase them they are chasing themselves for you. Take the free pressure. Maybe act like you are going to chase them then just stop so they keep following you around and not helping their team, its a gift. Manipulating your opponent's ego is a big part of PVP.

There are lots of vids about how to run LT walls etc most survivors just do the same thing over and over, if you learn those patterns you'll catch them out as most either won't or can't change up what they do.

Eliminating a player early is your best bet, tunnel if you have to its fine its all just gameplay.

Don't give up, in the current game state losing 3 gens in the first chase is very common, should be expected at this point. Its not over till everyone is dead, I've had plenty of games turn into 4k's at 1 gen left. NOED can help with this its a very strong perk.

A 4 escape loss isn't a bad thing because its so easy to inflate your MMR and wind up out matched. Switch it up to farm up some points and let them all go to get your MMR back down, this isn't smurfing this is doing the MMR's job for it because its trash at evaluating player skill itself.

Keep playing, FAIL stands for "first attempt in learning" many people don't know this and beat themselves and others down for it turning into sore losers and bad gamers over time. Don't be that person there is enough of them in DBD already.

Lastly remember, none of it matters its only a game.

I'm sorry but that's not really 'tense' so much as it's 'Oh great another tunneller mori guy' to make this game dull. And then I ponder whether to DC in loading, consequently costing the killer at least 5 minutes of waiting + slower queues since I play when survivor queues are fast. Literally nothing was threatening about a mori because I could just decide not to play it out. And it's totally fine given many content creators do the same for stuff like map offerings.

I feel more threatened by Bubba than a mori ever has. Because HE will end your game quickly while simultaneously make it slow and boring. But it's not scary, nor a real threat all things considered. Just a pain in my behind.

The 'threat of elimination' is just the threat of not getting to enjoy the game on my limited free time. Because of how DBD works, this mild penalty becomes a frustrating flaw that doesn't add to the experience. All it does is make me wonder why I'm not playing Elden Ring instead.

It's cool you find her fun to face and creepy. To me she's just the secret easy mode of the game people grind to unlock (via learning her). Nothing interesting, just sweating gameplay I've grown used to.

I get where you're coming from, but why is hanging on hook for 4 mins any different from getting mori'd in 4 mins.

Its an elimination game, the threat of elimination is the only thing to worry about, its the whole premise of the game. Without it there is no threat and we all just farm for BP's and leave and everybody wins all the time. Boring.

Would you watch a slasher flick where no body dies and there is no threat whatsoever? Its why most super hero movies kinda suck, there is no threat, no surprises, no stakes, nothing, just mindless action scenes which are just piss boring without stakes to make it meaningful.

The higher the stakes the scarier the game, hence the threat of elimination is essential to DBD, the greater that threat the more intense the game experience.

    BUT...

People don't like being eliminated and yet they sign up to play a game based around the premise of elimination and then get annoyed when they are eliminated. It kinda baffles me.

Every time I make this point someone who doesn't get it, mainly because they are the I get annoyed when I get eliminated crowd, says "No one will play a game where loss is guaranteed!" Loss isn't guaranteed but the game experience requires the threat of elimination to be exciting in the first place, the higher that threat, the higher the stakes, the more exciting the game.

I'm starting to wonder if its not a symptom of the "everybody gets a trophy" society we have, where as a kid even if you participate and fail you still get rewarded. No one can deal with loss and everyone expects to win everything all the time or have an equal chance of winning no matter the set up or odds because, they are reared on being rewarded for everything even just participation. (I grew up in this system too but I saw it for what it is).

I'm not saying saying this to be harsh or confronting but maybe you should be playing elden ring instead, because if getting eliminated annoys you then a game like DBD, where elimination is the core mechanic, may not be for you.

Imagine DBD where you just kept respawning as survivor, just imagine it. The actual gameplay of DBD mechanically is as dull as dishwater, the only thing that makes it interesting is the need to avoid death. Its the very theme the game is based on and makes up the central mechanic of the gameplay - "Escape before you die".

maybe they should balance around Swf and have optional in game voice with option to mute players. also they really need fix mmr some how One match will be a SWF super team next may be survivors that never played before. It makes me wonder if MMR is not real sometimes. That would explain why they dont let us see it.

I agree, as much as I think voice chat ruins the DBD experience for all involved, nothing kills the horror like zero unknown... knowing who the killer is, where they are, what they are doing and what everyone else is doing at all times.

Coordinating over voice chat improves escape chance significantly if killer were pumped up to counter this making them really threatening, then sure in game voice chat all round.

Could you imagine in game voice chat with randoms in DBD though, there'd have to be a mute function because the salty tantrum man baby screamers would be off the charts.

Nothing is scary after playing the game for over 300 hours. The Nurse isn't scary, just hard to face. The only 'scares' left are jumpscares from stealth killers and hag's traps.

That's why I miss old moris, the threat of elimination was very real and made survivor a tense experience.

Sure the scare factor of DBD wears off with exposure, but what creates that fear in the first place is the threat of elimination. Without it, its just an un-scary lackluster game of loopy loop, which makes for a ######### survival horror experience in my opinion.

Every time they water down the threat of elimination to cradle the egos of the "its not fair waah" crowd, the game's horror element takes a hit and it gets less scary and more generally tedious for both sides.

A lot of my survivor games are just gen simulator and then leave, not because I'm good at survivor but rather I either have enough second chances and tools to not worry about injury/dieing or I never see the killer all game anyway.

Its why I like facing nurse, I can't play her to save myself but I like facing her because in the right hands she is scary. A really creepy aesthetic, unnerving sound effects, threatening chase and jump scare potential.

I agree. Let’s not make too many changes for the lowest denominator.

I bet there are hundreds of games I won that OP would’ve surrendered on.

Yeah I got destroyed as trapper on 2x games last night but both ended in a 4k when some well placed traps and hook defence (AKA camping) resulted in all remaining survivors down in the egc for the 4k finale.

I'm not gonna lie though, two games of that sweat fest was enough I called it straight after. My calling it was also helped by the complete meltdown of the survivors after both games, laying on some thick salt with a dash of tantrum. It doesn't bother me personally but it does remind me of how tiresome and sore loser this gaming community can be and often makes me think 2 games is probably all I've got in me.

3 gens for 1 hook is the rather crummy norm, but hey it aint over till all survivors are out or dead.

  • Play blight or nurse and run meta perks, check.

That’s basically the whole post, neither of which is really a game balance solution.

The game is neither killer or survivor biased it’s just built around a design which is largely zero sum for the opposing sides.

Player expectation is all over the place too.

Some say They ruin the game and other say you shouldn’t DC/suicide based on how the killer is playing

Just don’t be okay with one side giving up and not the other basically

I agree, though the difference in perception probably stems from bad games for survivors are over quickly, bad games for killers drag on for the full duration.

Also it’s very common for survivors who out match a killer to stop doing the objective and try and rub it in the killer’s face for as long as possible, killers do this too but even bleed out has a 4min timer.

So again negative experiences on the survivor side end relatively quickly in game but often drag on for killer. The real punishment for survivor is you have a really fast bad game but then wait another 10 mins in queue for another potentially bad fast game.

Does that mean we should remove every tool killers have to eliminate survivors quickly… no because all that does is make bad games for killer drag on even longer.

personally I’ll take any free kills survivors wish to gift me, same if the killer opens the gate I’ll happily leave for them, so we can all just move on as it’s only a game.

You probably don't get nice comments especially doing that every game but it's fine I find it just boring. I only do it when it's only option or someone manages to make me angry. I like when they take more risk in 4vs1. It's not as easy to manage but lot debends which killer you play. I want to win on merit so that's why tinneling feels cheating. But when I do tunnel it's usually best looper of the team who makes me mad. That ends me losing as others just do gens. You probably play myers? He is pretty weak so tunneling weakest survivor out often is only option to have chance with him thought. I think some killers need buffs so they can be more viable and corrupt invertion should be basekit. But also tunneling needs to be nerfed for survivors it's miserable experience often.

Just different ideas of what’s fun that’s all.

Also the part about bad comments, doesn’t matter how someone plays there is no reason to be either angry or abusive over a game.

The terms tunnelling and camping are often just excuses for losing and bad sports use these terms to justify being unpleasant and down right toxic gamers.

You see it time and again, post after post, about tunnelling and camping that if you read between the lines are just saying “I lost waaah, here’s my excuse”

These threads are often filled with people replying about how players are scumbags etc. The OP often degenerates into a name calling tantrum a lot of the time.

I’d bet that the only reason they don’t stoop to direct abuse on the forum is that the forum is moderated, in game I’m sure these people are a delight to interact with. These are the people you have to private your account for and turn off direct messaging or sit there with a stream of abuse that can go on for a long time. I don’t think I’ve blocked and banned as many other players on any game before as I have on DBD. It’s a shame.

Agreed , if they let us block killers we don’t want to play against again

Lol half the people on here would never find an opponent again because they would block every killer who ever beat them.

Heck they’d probably block all the killers that didn’t beat them too, simply because of some imagined offence.

The solution to swf is coming it’s called custom game bots. My hope is that there is enough customisation that I never need to play online with other DBD players ever again, swf or otherwise.

The DBD player base is rotten to its core and it shows. I’ve never received so many death threats etc in an online game before.

Yeah I’m inclined to agree. As much as I love legend of Zelda, I cut my teeth on classic nes original Zelda. (Zelda 3 is the best of them all)

I’d hate to see it in DBD. The anime update irks me a lil.

Again I’m a fan of a lot of anime but a lot of it really doesn’t fit in DBD.

Same again for aliens. Play the alien in AvP, how the hell are you going to capture that magic in the dbd setting? It’s just not possible and will be really lame in the implementation.

I think I answerd this to someone who was pointing out that is unfun as killer to tunnel someone quickly out and then play 3vs1. I think that is boring too. Most fun are those situations when there is 4 alive and they all together and you can get lot of hits on them and get few slugs. Well slugging everyone can be fun too but I don't usually want to end match too soon so I go for 3 slugs at most and then hook them.

Sure I get it. I find a 3v1 game more fun as killer because it’s more manageable and survivors often play less obnoxiously once they are under some real pressure.

This creates the horror movie setting I’m looking for where rather than trying to waste my time in chase, survivors are trying to get away. At 3v1 this game shines when playing killer so getting it to 3v1 asap is often my goal.

Yes one person will be eliminated early and may not find that fun, but I’ve largely stopped caring about that. Not out of maliciousness but rather it’s only a game and I just play it how I want that’s all.

Why killer chooses to tunnel then? Maybe he wants just easy win it's harder to win 4vs1 but lot more fun but not everyone want fun game just win and 4K.

Maybe your version of fun is different from their version of fun.

  • Strong perks make the game easier.

    It’s not rocket science.

I still don't get why people complain about it when it has 4 different methods to search for totems, 3 of which just gives you wall hacks for totems.

Basically people are sore losers that’s all. players are so conditioned on the idea, if they get to the endgame they have won, they forget that until you are out the door anything can happen.

NOED makes the endgame exciting. It’s a thrilling finale. You have to play a full game for it to activate meaning it doesn’t cut your game short or eliminate you early.

You see the same thing about NOED posted again and again and they all amount to “I expected to escape and didn’t waaah”.

It's too much now every killer tunnels and it directly results in dc's which benefits killers mainly so soloq survivors are suffering from it mainly because the game is hard enough 4v1 and why even bother playing at 4-5 gens with 1 dc it's not worth it

    Let me get my violin.

Again your issue is with people who DC, not your opponent.

“I have to hook trade against camping, how can we set it up so I can just always unhook for free without having to change my build or get hooked myself”

With Dead Hard and Borrowed Time and an amazing amount of precise timing and luck, there are sometimes a chance that both survivors will escape without a hook trade. A lot more times there will be either a hook trade or both survivors going down.

This is completely fair, considering all the killer has to do is stand in front of a hook and stare at the survivor, correct? You would definitely consider this fair since there is so much coordinated effort between 2 survivors to manage to get this off, correct? You don't think that a killer, whose only skill is sitting in front of a hook staring at a survivors face should always come out better on the exchange that requires much more skill on the survivors side that the killers side, correct?

    Life's not always fair.

You're team that's your advantage here, learn to utilize it rather than ask for freebees because you can't.

They have said more than just "we're looking at it so expect something". We know over 40 perks are going to be reworked, we know that there will be base game changes to address why some perks are "meta" and we know that the perk overhaul is scheduled for this summer. Other than giving a specific date, I don't know how much more specific you want them to be in regards to a time frame.

I would suspect that they've been working on this for some time.

One would hope because 40 perks overhauled plus base game changes by this summer is a short timeline for some big changes.

I believe custom game bots by winter, but an overhaul that changes up base mechanics and 40 perks by summer is a bold timeline.

If the changes are enough to mix up the META then I'll wait till they confirm what's happening before I start jumping on the "The META will change yay!" ban wagon, its highly likely some of those meta perks won't change much or enough to warrant them not being chosen over others.

I don't run Dead Hard, I run Sprint Burst. However, when I have a face-camping killer, I can't make a successful save with Sprint Burst. It's Dead Hard users that I see make successful saves and the save is very formulaic and requires very specific timing.

I can make saves against regular killers fine, it's the face-camping ones I have no chance of making a successful save with Sprint Burst, it's always a hook-trade at that point.

Hook trading is a thing, not every save is supposed to be successful or easy.

Are people really bemoaning having to hook trade now? That’s one way to buy time against camping killers.

“I have to hook trade against camping, how can we set it up so I can just always unhook for free without having to change my build or get hooked myself”

This one dumbfounds me as much as the guy who said “I never feel safe as survivor”… you’re not meant to feel safe as survivor that’s why you’re trying to escape, it’s not safe in the fog.

Lastly there is a big audio cue when the nurse blinks learn to juke it like any other killer swing. Yeah it can be harder to do than a basic M1 killer.

You missed the main problem that what caused these survivors to DC ? Killers proxy camping hooks till a survivors hits hook state 2 and someone unhooks them and killer chases them same scenario happened 3 matches in a row , 4th match I got tunneled too but no DC's so the main problem is soloQ no one cares to unhook you and the game design that allows tunneling and DS is useless the exit gates are open or something.

I think you’ve missed the point.

Even if camped and tunnelled it’s still not an excuse to DC. You are trying to make excuses for bad sport survivors ruining the game for their team by placing the blame on the killer player.

Guess what the only people who ruined those games were the DC’ing survivors.

“waah I got tunnelled and camped” is a BS excuse. Stop blaming your opponent for the crappy behaviour of your sore loser team mates.

It’s not your opponent’s job to make sure the game is fun for you.

  • Doesn’t matter what you do someone is gonna complain.

That said I prefer playing against a killer who is as nasty as possible. I want a horror movie/horror survival game experience and when you get it, it’s a lot of fun.

That said I’m not the boss of how others play, all I can do is manage my own behaviour and savour the games where I do get what I want from gameplay.

But, devs did announce that there will be perk / gameplay changes. They've stated that the perk overhaul is scheduled for this summer, that really isn't that long away...

Yeah but it was pretty light on the details. If they are planning the kind of large scale overhaul that’s being hinted at then they either started a long time ago or are probably promising more than will be delivered. There was no real roadmap as to what was going to be achieved just a we’re looking at it so expect something.

There has been talk of shaking up the meta for a long time and it hasn’t really manifested.

Mainly because in my experience the slugged survivor is rescued relatively quickly, and you haven't even had the benefit of a hook state. Back to square one and another gen down.

Yeah this is one aspect of slugging that gets overlooked.

When you slug well you want to be chaining downs, hits or interrupts that eventually let you get a hook or 4 downs. Outside of that you'll get short term pressure but if you can't turn it into objective progression, hook or kill, then its just sunk time for no real overall advantage.

I'd say its usually better to eat the DS than to slug and avoid it if your down isn't going to chain you into multiple hits/kills.

In answer to the OP though I don't think DS activation on self unhook is that big of a game influencer that it needs a specific change to remove it.

That's probably because headpops don't happen on their own unless the survivors are stupid or they get very unlucky on a map like RPD, Suffo Pit, or Midwich. Used to be easier when you could stack Tampered Timer and Jigsaw's Sketch pre addon pass. There's still Crate of Gears and Tampered Timer, but her passive lethality's gone down, and the 5-box change actually weakened those maps against Pig because you won't have to do a full circuit of the map to get all your boxes.

But the point is that if you want headpops to happen, you have to interrupt survivors with active traps, particularly once you notice their traps have been active for a while. Not much point in pushing someone around if they're just going to get the trap off on their first box - but when someone only has one or two searches left, chasing them across the map and hooking them far away from the box they were on can pay off handily.

Besides, even if you don't kill someone, I wouldn't call rendering a survivor useless for a minute worthless. The issue with her traps is the RNG that can see them removed instantly, not that they aren't lethal enough.

It wasn't my goal to derail this into a discussion about pigs power but just a quick note that its really not that lethal and isn't great slowdown. Its too RNG to be worthwhile and timers pause if hooked, downed or in chase so you can't even increase the pressure applied by changing game state.

You have to leave the person with the trap on their head alone so they can search for a box to get any value out of the traps. They kinda apply some distraction from gens for a short duration but overall they really do piss all. Also give crummy BP's and only really work if survivors are new or foolish.

Pig gets her kills from stealth dashes and downs, she's an M1 killer with a funny side note of a power that doesn't do enough to change the game up. Until AFK pig came along and now that's gonna be gone too. Its a shame.

Fair points. In fact if you want to never lose and always 4k. These two addons plus, No Ed, No Way Out, Member Me & Rancor is the bees knees. Imagine having a diversity of play styles in a party game =). And you are correct 4 teams correctly tried to leave so the last person could hatch. 3 of 4 of them were successful. I think people just want to build up a strawman bad guy to virtue signal over lol. I cant wait for the next meme build.

Sadly I don't play a lot of pig so don't have much unlocked on her, even after all this time, I just had to take what I got. Dropped a bunch of points into her to flesh out some kind of endgame build but once I had NOED and blood warden maxed I was thinking eh that might be enough.

The real issue is there is only one reliable way to get a head pop now, and I am sure survivors will dislike it all the same.

I don't think I ever had a head pop pre afk pig. Apart from very early when I first started playing and was facing very new players.

First time I ever faced pig I let my own head pop just to see what would happen

What's the point of a killer if their power is basically useless?

  • @BrotherLove said:

A whole row? Column? Something like that. I got a beautiful 4k head pop too to add to my collection.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56TXosI51X4

I got 1 4k head pop, after burning about 45 of the required addons for this, I was so happy it was the only 4k from head pops alone I got.

Everyone was running in circles in front of me and they all went pop together, I waited with baited breath watching the timers go down.

Afterward everyone was a good sport about it and we all just had a laugh in post game chat and moved on to the next game, one of the few truly wholesome moments in DBD. I still SWF with one of the survivors they are a great player.

  • That looks pretty similar to what I'd say my spread of game results would look too, if I was to let folks go when their heads didn't pop.

Typically AFK pig nets you 1 kill at best and then you sweat to get the last 3k in the endgame. If you get that kill with 1-2 gens still up which can happen, but not often, then its far less of a sweat to get the rest of the kills.

The majority of AFK pig kills come from chases in the endgame and frankly NOED, much like the rest of DBD games. So when you take that into account I never really saw what was wrong with it beyond usually one person gets the shaft by being unable to get the hat off (This can also be played around by coordinated teams, I've done it and had it done to me more than once).

I'd say yet again we have a very vocal crowd of players who want the game to play out in only one particular way and now that we have the pig changes they can get that again.

At least until the next funny lil quirk build that throws the rulebook out the window comes along. Then all the sore losers who can't stand dying in a computer game act will like its the end of the world again. Even though you see it once in a blue moon, as its not very efficient, and it doesn't really matter anyway because its only a game.

  • Ah don't get ahead of yourself, the whole announcement amounted to them saying "these perks get used a lot so we are looking at them".

There is a page with some very pretty graphs which basically say "these perks get used a lot", well duh. So until there is actual announced perk and gameplay changes I'd say you're looking at the current META and its gonna be here a while.

Again don't get ahead of yourselves, its good that they are acknowledging a stale meta but they plan to overhaul a ton of perks, which is a lot of work and means that the current meta is here to stay for the time being and probably for a long time being.

For all the talk there was very little solid content gameplay wise in that anniversary announcement even in the supplementary pages. Again don't get too sucked in by the pretty graphs they basically pictographically say "these perks get used a lot" That's all.

They didn't really give a fleshed out roadmap, we got...

-Funko bobble heads (for the have more money than brain cells crowd, you see how many LG/comic stores have buckets of these things from all kinds of franchises heavily discounted, they are just trying to get rid of stock that doesn't sell after a week of hype).

-Menu updates with some increased functionality (its good),

-A plan to implement custom game bots (yay finally I can play dbd without having to interact with dbd players, I promised myself I wouldn't cry hrmm... Its a one year wait by the sound of it but its something)

-Anime cosmetics (I guess if you're a fan why not, its clear DBD's gritty 80's horror aesthetic is on the chopping block, bummer)

-Latest release info new killer, survivor and map (They look good so yay).

-Auto endgame last survivor mori. (I guess you get 1 built in mori rather than paying 6k BP's for the typically single mori).

-Ridiculous dating sim (Simplistic virtual novel for the patreon/gamecore dating sim/sex game crowd, again if its your thing go for it).

That's all, I'm not expecting general load outs to change anytime soon and neither should you.

And before anyone says it, this is pragmatism not pessimism.

Her condemn is a joke when survivor can cleanse it with a tape, that has no real downside while being carried, mid chase.

I would call it "the stars aligning" if she gets to use her condemn Mori.

    Basically this.

And yeah I'm yet to get a condemned kill off at all in regular play. We did a bit of KYF when she first came out and got a couple there just because we were mucking about but in actual play good luck. Maybe I'm just not very good with her.

I've walked away from plenty of deaths as survivor with over 20k BP's, maybe you're not as good as you think you are. Just food for thought.
