How do i, as a injured survivor, signal the two random players that i want to heal only to 99% so i can still use my resilience?

If you can tell me how i consistantly can do that, and they still heal me up the last % if the killer is there (and thus they likly take a hit for me) i stop running self care. Deal?

That's one situation I honestly didn't even think of, but a very good point. You can press shift to cancel it, but most of the time they'd probably just chase after you instead of understanding what you're doing. And they might also get a skillcheck that ruins it.

I have no problems with self care, and what you're talking about is a very handy use of the perk anyway. I'm just saying that the issues a lot of people have with self care comes down to how people use it and not the perk itself.

  • A lot of the self care hate is because of how some people use it. You know, the stereotypical "Blendette that runs to an obscure corner and self cares even if the last gen is at 90% and she got hit and left right next to it" situations. As well as people that run away from a potential quick double heal to self care in a corner.

The perk itself is fine, it's a tool like any other that you don't have to use whenever you can, and it's also synergizes very well with botany knowledge and even rather modest medkits like a yellow medkit + bandages.

Self care will always be popular because on-demand healing no matter what is an attractive ability, as it takes time and experience to feel comfortable doing pretty much anything while injured.

Dcs don't count as dead to the game, so it wouldn't change that equation.

I think the easiest would be death hooks only or last survivor period. Just don't make the mori of one dependant on the status of the others.

The only other real global choice would be all gens done, or 4 gens done, or whatever. Even that could easily lock out using it on the last survivor though.

Oh yeah I should have made it clear my suggestion assumed DCs being counted as.. just dead. They should honestly count as sacrificed and mori'd at the same time in some way so they can't mess with achievements, challenges and so on.

  • The difference is that crouching is a mechanic with actual uses while mori spamming has no purpose besides being annoying. And the ability to cancel a mori if another survivor shows themselves or you want to kick a gen, pallet or whatever else first instead is still available.

At least from what I understand of the change to moris you can still cancel the channel if you start a mori and then see someone you want to chase or decide you want to do something else first/instead, the actual tactical reason someone might want to cancel a mori. Depending on your definition of "successive teabags" someone could get hit with the penalty you're talking about while simply playing against someone like Huntress or Deathslinger on certain tiles, as they might slightly adjust their position and re-crouch repeatedly to try to avoid a hatchet or shot.

  • That's sorta how PTBs usually go, especially early on before it's mostly the people trying out/enjoying the new content that stays on the PTB instead of going back to live. People not really caring and disconnecting a lot, using the strong items/addons/offerings they're hoarding on the live servers, that sort of thing.

Give it some time and more and more people will probably finish having their "fun" and there might be more people genuinely interested in giving the changes a good try.

  • Because if you brand someone as part of "the others" you are justified in ignoring or mocking their input, of course πŸ™ƒ

And god forbid you have a mix of opinions and stances, some pro-survivor and some pro-killer. In that case you're just in an awkward superposition or something where you can be observed as a main of one side or the other whenever it's "convenient" for someone looking to discredit you.

  • @finitethrills said:

The problem with the seemingly popular "everyone needs to be hooked once" solution is that a single salty DC eliminates the mori completely.

There's other cases that would make it so such a change would need the condition to be "everyone has to be hooked once or dead", otherwise even someone bleeding out on the ground, dying to a pig trap or getting mori'd by other means like devour hope or rancor could lead to the same problem as what you're mentioning.

So yeah I agree there, and I can't really think of any situations that condition (everyone hooked once or dead) would miss, or situations that could 100% lock a killer out of using the mori.

In before survivors let it slip that they think it’s toxic to be killed by the killer....

I think most people (killers and survivor alike) laugh at people that believe that sort of thing. Just like killers that think it's toxic if survivors take hits for eachother or loop "too well".

In general anyone that calls intended mechanics toxic are just.. silly, and luckily they're usually not taken seriously by the majority.

  • If someone really wants to bring a key they can just last second switch anyway.

First swf matchmaking needs to be changed. (Playing rank 15 killer with red and purple ranks swf)

That's not "SWF matchmaking", that's just matchmaking being busted in general at the moment. SWF is supposed to be matched based on the highest rank in the party. So even a party of ranks 1-20-20-20 is supposed to basically be treated as ranks 1-1-1-1 by matchmaking.

It's just that matchmaking can fail at doing its job entirely no matter if SWF is involved or not at the moment. Hopefully it gets improved, either with changes to the current system or the introduction of the MMR system they're working on.

I actually saw a whole YouTube video about it. https://youtu.be/dO_H2mGa1TA

I really hope this is just some sort of attention stunt or content creator "personality" thing, because this is almost at gamers rise up Joker meme levels of absurd.

  • When it comes to the map changes I like them, especially as the screenshots of the new window locations/tiles don't just delete the windows from the game. Many can still be ran once and be useful while passing through, but they're not braindead and uninteractive like before. Curious to see what the maps that will become smaller will turn out as well.

While I personally think co-op gens at the start of the game is actually not optimal at all and people should want survivors to stack on gens instead of doing 3 seperate ones, I guess it might make it less common to have a gen pop in like 30 seconds or something? While I'd much rather have one gen go in 30s than 3 gens being worked on at the same time it seems like to many people that sort of thing is demotivating and demoralizing.

The QOL changes are quite simply good I guess. Didn't expect the Legion change but it sounds nice, the UI improvements are always welcome and I've always been of the belief and I'm certainly not going to miss mori spamming πŸ˜„

  • If I'm still there when the game ends.

Sorry, but if someone thinks me saying GG like I've always done in every game I've played is trolling, ironic or "he actually means git gud!" that's their problem and not mine. They are free to just don't write gg themselves, but if they're typing out some "actually... it was bg" response I've probably already left so that's their time wasted and not mine.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    Seems balanced because:

    - If the survivor uses the window from the inside they will fast vault and gain some distance granting the chance to reach a loop outside the building.

    - if the survivor fast vaults into the building the killer will catch up quickly using the door and most likely get the hit/down as the survivor won't have enough distance to reach a loop.

So basically this change makes the loop a fair 50/50 chance for both sides or at least it seems that way. Obviously there's still Dead Hard for distance and stuff and we don't know what pallet changes there will be so we will have to see. But from the looks of it I think it will be a decent change.

This is what I'm really happy about, it actually makes the window remain useful, but now it's more situational and obviously not as uninteractive and braindead as it is at the moment. It just makes it a tile that actually offers gameplay besides holding W and pressing spacebar from time to time. πŸ‘οΈ

  • The primary purpose of all the end game mechanics (hatch, EGC itself, gates after hatch close) is to encourage and force and end to the game.

So to me it doesn't really matter if it's fair or not, and the gates/final 1v1 in general can totally favor either side depending on how they spawn and perks/items that are equipped (Whispers makes it very hard to get a gate if the killer knows what they're doing for example, while a key can open the closed hatch).

This is exactly what Killers are doing. DCing in Loading Screen is exactly the same like dodging a Lobby because a Survivor has a Flashlight (and most likely cannot use it anyway).

So yeah, they are scared and dont like the challenge. At least someone is seeing it that way.

To be fair it's more like a killer DCing in the loading screen because of a map offering they dislike or a last second switch than a flashlight or any other item. Items that are there from the start the killer can try to do something about by equipping stuff like franklins, lightborn, a mori or something else. Can't really prepare for a map offering, last second switch or mori in advance.

But your point still stands - it's a lobby dodge with more steps that both sides do at times.

  • Not sure if I'd call it a guilty pleasure but Oak Haft + Bandaged Haft as Huntress.

It's like Save The Best For Last, but for hatchets, without the stack management.

  • Yeah at that point there's basically 3 choices a lot of the time.

    • Try to kill whoever is one the hook to secure a kill.
    • Try to get as many hook trades as possible to secure the most points.
    • Try to get as many as possible, even though you might risk them all escaping by doing so.

Personally I tend to just try to extend the match for as long as possible for more points and well, gameplay. I know that's different from person to person but I'd much rather trade hooks until they give up or manage to get out than park myself in front of a hook with a revved chainsaw. I'd rather have more points than a single kill, but I'll probably still stick close to the hook so I can guarantee trades unless I'm very confident in my ability to get someone else.

  • There's one legacy Jake in my region I see from time to time, and there used to be some madman with all the killer legacies but I haven't seen them in ages. Other than that? Pretty much never.

well i have only seen killers complain about DS and BT but nothing else

I recently ran into someone that complained about Inner Strength and how it's a "free heal". But then again I also saw someone complain about I'm All Ears earlier this month, saying it's for "braindead players that can't mindgame without auras holding their hand"

If it's in the game, someone out there hates it for some... obscure reason. Best we can do is just have a laugh at it πŸ˜„

  • Doesn't matter at all to me. If it's the newest survivor that just meant they saved up BP, if it's any older survivor all it means is they've played the game for like... probably more than 50 hours or something? Could even be less than that.

  • @Cardgrey said:

@toxicnancymain while what he did was indeed wrong what makes you the victim?

you were just as bad as he was so you have no right to complain

There isn't really anything wrong with someone that dishes it out but they can also take it. I've played with and against people that do stuff commonly considered toxic, they get a taste of their own medicine and in the end everyone still GGs and moves on. Of course it'd be better if no one did it in the first place, but that's not really realistic.

But someone that does something commonly considered toxic and then cries when they get a taste of their own medicine? Yeah, not even a single cell in my body feels even the slightest bit of sympathy for them.

Not to mention there's a huge difference between taunting others during a match and crying and/or harassing others post-game. Or in this case, straight up admitting to making invalid bogus rage reports.

  • Just sounds like a typical example of someone who dish it out but can't take it righ there πŸ˜„

  • Huntress, Trapper, Doctor and recently Deathslinger.

  • Because unsafe unhook mechanics are supposed to discourage performing unsafe unhooks. The survivor on the hook doesn't really have much of a say in the matter.

  • Rank 1s are supposed to be confined to the rank range of 1-6/7, aren't they? I can't remember if the intended "acceptable" range was +/- 6 or 7 ranks. So assuming matchmaking works as intended they're already actually supposed to only be matched with red and the "top" of purple ranks.

But of course, matchmaking gets drunk a lot.

Ultimate spirit counter, scream in the mic when she’s phasing

New 200 IQ spirit strat: play the phasing sound over your mic while you're not actually phasing.

  • That technically works though, doesn't it?

If they use the medkit and get hit, the Styptic puts them in deep wounds. If they use it and don't get hit, they get healed by the syringe. Complete overkill but hey πŸ˜„

  • Because while they could very much be called mistakes in map design, they are technically working as intended.

  • So what exactly do you propose they do about it? πŸ€”

  • I rarely use it myself unless I'm going for mega-medic builds with self care + botany knowledge and a medkit, but I totally see why it's popular.

It took me quite a while to realize I don't always have to get healed before doing anything else, and when you're not confident in your ability to play injured (even temporarily) having the ability to heal yourself at will is nice.

  • Personally I don't think anyone "deserves to lose" until they've actually lost. Doesn't matter if it's "I would've killed them if it wasn't for that <survivor thing>!" or "I would've escaped if it wasn't for that <killer thing>!". You didn't kill them, or you didn't escape - doesn't matter if you "would have done so" in my opinion.

And for the record I think keys (and moris, as if you mention one without the other you risk getting excommunicated or something πŸ™ƒ) are stupid.

  • @Uistreel said:

Doesn't blocking a player on steam, psn, xbox live, etc prevent you from joining a game with them again?

Pretty sure blocking people like that doesn't interact with matchmaking on any platforms the game is playable on.

I do know that on Steam you can sorta use the blocklist as an improvised "blacklist", but it's not automated. But even on private profiles you can click the "More" button next to the "Add Friend" button or whatever, and if they're blocked it'll obviously say "Unblock All Communication" instead of "Block All Communication", or something like that.

So if someone is willing to check profiles and do that then they can. Obviously doesn't work for killers as you can't just click and open their profile.

  • Matchmaking quite simply isn't working even close to intended and that it has been like that for months now. This is in no way intended behavior, but I guess now they've decided to just leave it like this until they can finish the MMR system they're working on.

  • As long as it's possible for people to die/"suicide" on the hook from sheer inexperience, minor connection hiccups and that sort of thing you can't really punish it unless you only punish people that do it several games in a row. Or shouldn't, anyway.

  • If you ask me the reason doesn't really matter, if someone decides to do it that's it no matter the reason.

I don't really do it myself because with my own personal mindset I don't find it fun to do and I don't care about all the stuff commonly considered "toxic", and at the same time I find intentional "salt farming" pretty cringy no matter who does it. But as long as people don't combine it with bannable behavior like going way too far post-game or something I don't really care I guess?

  • I'm sure the devs would love to have the map design situation in such a place that they could straight up remove bloodlust. I don't think they want it to be some attempt to put a "cap" on how long a chase can go on for, but specifically as a failsafe for broken loops. But until then it's probably pretty risky to mess with it.

And as already said if someone goes out of their way to "bloodlust" tiles they could try to mindgame or even bruteforce their way through faster, they're already wasting time.

  • Someone that's new to the game? I don't exactly use the term myself but if I did I'd probably use it for the "cute" sorts of obvious newbie behavior as opposed to some sort of insult.

    • Fixated

I'm tall and I have long legs, so I'm quite used to hearing others tell me I walk really fast and need to stop being in such a hurry.

    • Stridor

I'm that guy that always hears the barely audible noises. And then the same barely audible noises drive me crazy while everyone else is wondering what noise I'm even talking about πŸ˜₯

    • This Is Not Happening

As the perk description itself states. "You perform your best when you are under extreme stress". I guess that's a skill you might pick up when you procrastinate way too much.

    • Breakdown

I'm heavy and sorta clumsy, so sometimes things break or fall over as a result.

  • I'd like a more "fitting" animation as well, but not one that makes it unclear if she's vaulting even if the survivor sees her doing it.

Clown huffing and puffing while vaulting so the survivor doesn't even have to see him doing it to know he's vaulting, on the other hand... that shouldn't be a thing πŸ˜„

  • As already said, don't worry about it. It's a common thing in gaming for people to find something to blame no matter if it's true. You'll see accusations like camper, tunneler, toxic, SWF and more even in situations where the accusation is objectively and provably incorrect (or just so subjective it basically has no value, like with "toxic", "sweaty", "tryhard" and so on).

Do you mean Small Game? Because Thrill of The Hunt does have a totem counter, but it's a killer perk.

Because if you mean Small Game I totally agree with you. Detective's Hunch is arguably almost better at actually finding totems, so it would be a cool little buff to Small Game.

  • If I'm in that situation and they still decide to come for me I'd just suicide on hook.

I'm fine with hanging in there to give them the time to get gates and escape for free, but if they're gonna throw it away I'll try to save their lives in my own way πŸ˜„

  • @chenais said:

@BigTimeGamer I mean, are you in a 2, 3 or 4 man swf group? Do you and your swf use exhaustion perks? Do you t-bag the killer or trash talk him? Do you smurf (or use a low rank teamate to bully baby killers)? They are a lot of things that make a difference when it comes to deciding if a swf is fine or not.

    @USELESS said:

Ma man swf is the most ######### thing I ever saw, if someone at rank 20 invites a guy rank 1 they will get a rank 20 killer.

You're aware that this "use a smurf to get a rank 20 killer" thing hasn't worked for ages, right? Matchmaking uses the highest rank in the party, so even a party of 1-20-20-20 is supposed to be matchmade as rank 1.

Of course, matchmaking itself doesn't exactly work as intended at the moment but that's a seperate issue. No matter if SWF is involved matchmaking can put together very unbalanced games in either side's favor right now.

  • Yeah I've never heard of anyone getting any more of a detailed explanation for their ban than the ban message they recieve in-game.

Could @Peanits or someone else that'd know confirm or deny if it'd even be possible for someone to get the information OP claims to have recieved?

  • Not sure if it's sweaty but I like using one reload speed addon and one "cooldown on missed shots" addon. Just feels like a versatile and all-around useful combo to me.

    Double reload is nice too.

  • Here's the perks I'd make sure to get anyway.

    • Bond
    • Iron Will
    • We're Gonna Live Forever
    • Borrowed Time
    • Unbreakable
    • Ace In The Hole (a bit biased as I like running plundering builds, but lets you keep addons too now!)
    • Pick your favorite from Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Lithe or Balanced Landing
    • Adrenaline is good too, even though I personally dislike using perks that do nothing until endgame
  • Even if we ignore the deranking discussion entirely why would you do it now? When matchmaking messes up constantly and can put even rank 16-20 players with players they have no business going against? Seems like a complete waste of time.
