I wish Original Pain was more useful. I dig it, it's just not very helpful :/

Never forget.

As Steamdeck is not launching until February 2022 and I've already confirmed that we possibly won't be implementing this at launch, there are no further updates on DbD being on Steamdeck.
This is true, but do note that getting the change applied earlier will let Linux users test it out.
We're ready when you are! :D

Alternatively, base kit WGLF/BBQ BP bonus stacks, that max out at 12. I'd probably enjoy this more, honestly, since it encourages good play.
-
Agreed. Just don't turn it off.
I'm glad they're working on the grind and a new leveling system, but we need help today. Even if it's just a temporary bandaid, please don't turn it off.
-
Even if the patch isn't real, these are still good things worth discussing for the life of the game.
I'm also hesitant about removing all perk tiers. I like the granularity they provide.
Maybe automatically give access to all generic perks at tier 1, and every character starts with their own perks already at tier 3?
-
Agreed. Just never turn it off.
-
But that's always how scourge Hook works. It's a trade off.
If they don't cleanse, then it's one hit downs.
I'm just unsure if the pressure of it synergizes with plague, or is redundant with how plague works anyway.
-
Killer is fun. I like the hunt, the cat and mouse of it.
There's also no where else in the world that I can step into the shoes of my favorite killers, Pinhead, Pyramid Head, Demogorgon. That's simply priceless. What a legendary experience.
-
confirm, not working for me either.
-
People don't want to play killer for SOME MYSTERIOUS REASON!
XD
-
People have become puritans. They must not associate with anyone marked with the scarlet letter.
Don't like NFTs? Don't buy them. Playing DbD or buying Pinhead has no connection to that. It does nothing but make people feel righteous with minimal effort spent.
-
Yes, because this incentivizes good play for both sides at default.
-
Once DSed, your obsession changes. This can allow you to get more DL stacks from the old obsession.
-
I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with builds focusing on the obsession.
DL, STBFL, PWYF, Rancor

He's my main and I play him every day!
I'm doing my part!

There's a word for this kind of person in the fighting game community: Scrub.
https://glossary.infil.net/?t=Scrub
We need to use that more and call out scrubby behavior.
-
Buffs are so much more interesting and fun. Let options be impactful! It's ok!
Nerfs move the game to a bland mush.
-
Do what's best for you, broseph.
But what if I told you, nothing in this game matters? Win, lose, meta, not meta, it doesn't matter. It doesn't reflect on you in any way. The game doesn't make us eSports heroes nor failures.
It's just a game. Free your mind.
-
can confirm this also happened to me
-
Pinhead. His design is inspired and creates a secondary objective for the survs to play toward in order to succeed.
Unfortunately, so many survs complain because he prevents them from just genning.
They say he doesn't let them play the game. That's totally the wrong way to think about it. He's offering them an additional game. Rather than learn how to play that, they insist on nerfing him back to boredom because they can't deal with learning something new and breaking the routine they're used to.
It's a real shame.
-
Plus they just nerfed a lot of what goes into box interruption play. :/
Who can say what they want or intend.
-
I definitely play who I love! That's why I'm here!
I have a stable of killers that I like and think are cool, but my top 3 main rotation are Pinhead, Pyramid Head, and Demogorgon.
Nurse is a killer that I actually think is awesome, but I don't enjoy playing her because of her look at the ground cooldown. I find it too disorienting.

The biggest problem with Plaything is that it's basically hard-countered by SWF coms. It's wonderful against solos though, or when paired with Retribution. Going to run both with the new Artist perk.
I...never thought of pairing it with Third Seal. I might try that.
Jolt/Surge is incredible on instadown killers, but I struggle to make it work against the new 'just lead killer into a corner of the map so that it takes months to hook you' strat. The cooldown can also be a little punishing.
True about Plaything, though SWF comms counter a lot of stuff. Personally I don't really plan for them.
The Third Seal combo is very fun, especially on indoor maps. Note, however, that it's not really a BP getter or pipping build, since lots of survs die early since they can't see anything. XD
Jolt certainly has flaws. On The Game and Midwich, I love to have it. On Ormond, not so much. Still, fun non meta option for killers that down with M1. And while I may say jolt with my lips, my heart will forever whisper Surge.
-
Plaything. Oh man I run this on so many killers. Information is very strong in DbD. Taking that away from survs can have a great effect to cause chaos, have them make mistakes, and cause slowdown by making them do something else.
Brutal combo when paired with Third Seal, since then they can't see the auras of their totem. These two perks will give the survs the real horror movie experience.
Fearmonger is another go to perk for me on killers that have a hard time giving chase with the W strat.
Jolt is another favorite of mine. Let's me keep moving and chasing without having to stop all the time and kick gens.
In general I tend to avoid meta perks simply because I get bored running the same things all the time. I want to try new perks and new combos.
-
Definitely should be buffed to work on special attacks. I also don't think it needs a cooldown. If you're downing people that fast, they have bigger problems.
-
I live every noise he makes. Each one makes me feel like a transdimensional hunting monster.
-
From a design perspective, it's because it's dope AF. Embrace the flavor, because playing killer is all about that drip.
-
Once the nerfs come I'll consider them to try and facilitate interrupting the solver. Dunno if it'll help though.

Pinhead is still associated with NFT's...
By the decisions of Park Avenue, who also own the models BHVR made.
The beef is with Park Avenue.
Buying and playing Pinhead, or not, has literally no impact nor relation to that.
-
Still bugged
-
Same here.
-
Which is so sad because so much of what was fun about him was how flexible he was with different add ons changing how I played him.

Damn, I really wanted to hear the voice in game (I play on console).
Do you think things would’ve been different if they got the license from the actual person who owns the rights instead of the NFT thing?
Don't listen to these people obsessed about NFTs.
They got the license from Park Avenue Entertainment, who owns the rights to the movie.
Clive Barker, the author, will regain the rights in December, but we don't know yet the extent that transfer and whether it includes the original movie or just returns his right to license his creation as he sees fit.

I don’t really care cause I don’t ever play him. But I hope most of his mains are cool with it.
I'll still main him, but these changes are inane.

No, thanks. I like my piranha plant way better than werewolf or some carnivorous deer. That's what I paid for.
i don't think it's to literally replace him as in remove him. it's to add in a substitute for new players who can't buy him and use his game mechanics.
-
Heartbreaking. What a waste.

@Friendly_Blendette said:
I love Hellraiser like top 3 horror franchises and I was gonna buy him 100% and maybe main him when I came back. Then NFTs happened
you know, they're not connected? no proceeds from sale of the DLC are connected to NFTs. the NFT is different company and separate arrangement with Park Avenue, who also own the models BHVR made.
just, don't buy NFTs.
-
the NFT thing is a non-issue that only matters to an extremely tiny minority. it's long since forgotten. the only impact was a bunch of impetuous review bombs on a well made paragraph.
-
@Gwinty yeah, his paragraph was great. unfortunately ppl got all up in arms about the voicelines and NFT thing and took their frustration out by review bombing. so sad.
-
@dugman like most generalized advice, it's not helpful when ppl say "never teleport," or "always teleport."
You're spot on. There are times to teleport, to instantly start a new chase, and times to not teleport if you have something better going on.
It's a great ability if used carefully.
-
I love Pinhead. He's my main. I play a few matches with him every day. Just got him to P3.
I find him very dynamic, flexible and fun to play as and against.

I get that the killer can 360 no-scope spin on a dime... but also while they are carrying a survivor??
Reduce the camera turn rate while carrying.
Reduce the noise or fuse length of the Flashbang perk item.
You're really not meant to flashlight while the killer is mobile. You want to get them while they're locked in an animation.
-
Not sure which they you mean.
Pyramid Head Cages constantly spawn right next to survs.
-
As a killer main, I stopped slugging for 4k with the new hatch nerf. With new MMR, last person getting hatch doesn't matter, it doesn't affect our MMR.
I'm actually surprised more killers haven't stopped doing it. It doesn't really make sense anymore.
-
Welcome to the game.
Grades are not indicative of skill. They're not ranks and not the MMR. The MMR value is hidden.
They are just a measure of how much you've played this month.
At sub 100 hours you're very new still. Things start to come together in the 200-400 hr range. There's really a lot to learn here.
Sorry if it's not to your taste and sorry about rude community. It tends to happen in versus games.
I hope you'll stick around, but do what's fun for you.
-
I agree. The old ones look like a bunch of psychos.
-
Especially as a General Perk now available to everyone, it would be good to make this perk standout for common gen regression.
