that everything works fine when you release a patch or a new feature
Every game has bugs. This is an unavoidable fact, and the foundation that DBD is built on makes it buggier than most.
that you don't change our game experience with your tests
It's a live game and, if you read the EULA (End User License Agreement) that you agreed to in order to play this game and must abide by the terms of to continue playing, you'd know that they can do or change whatever they want, whenever they want, as they see fit.
every game has bugs, not every game uses its player base as beta testers, and give them broken patches on purpose

sigh
the way the DC penalty system works is that it times you out based on your "level" of offenses, as soon as it detects you no longer being connected to the server.
it does NOT know what caused the disconnection. it has no way of telling whether the DC was caused due to a game crash, you pressing the "leave game" button, a network failure, steam servers going down, etc.
therefore it is literally impossible for it to make any exceptions based on game crashes / server failure.
now, we all know that every tuesday Steam servers go down due to maintenance, roughly around the same time.
how about instead of blaming the devs, we use our brains a bit and think to ourselves "hey, its tuesday and around the time that the Steam servers are going down for their weekly maintenance. i should probaply not queue up for a game right now!". that way you can easily avoid any potential DC penalties.
however, should you forget / have a game that lasts longer than expected, thats okay too. after all, the timeout you will receive, given there is no lengthy record of you DCing matches - which would be entirely on you, is only going to be 5 minutes.
so when the Steam servers go back up you should, at most, have a 3 minute timeout.
should you have received a multiple hours / days ban due to it, go contact the support here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us
however, keep in mind that such lengthy bans are only given after a multitude of DCs within a certain time periode to one another, so its not guaranteed that they'll be lifting it.

It might be your internet that you need to sort and not anyone else's fault. As for steam doing maintenance, if its every week on a Tuesday...then you know when it will happen, organize your time around it.
As for Steam having legitimate issues on their servers....that at least is a valid query
happened 3 times just this night, even tho the last one i didnt got the penalty

This is a thread for you to share more pleasant moments from DbD, to remind us all that toxicity isn't all that there is. I'll start.
I'm not sure who the killer was playing, but long story short, I was destroyed by them early on. I think the last survivor got the hatch.
I checked out their profile, as I usually do when I'm killed off early to pass the time, and saw that they had played "Ori and the Will of the Wisps", the sequel to "Ori and the Blind Forest". These are games I've been curious about, but never really tried before because of all the promotion surrounding it (the more something is promoted, the less I want it and the more I suspect it's utter crap).
We ended up having a nice conversation about the games. I asked them what they thought of it, to which they gave the games complete praise. I explained that I wasn't too much into platformers, but they assured me that wasn't an issue because the game was simply incredible and I'd barely notice it.
I haven't bought either of them because I'm saving up for a new everything (GPU, CPU, RAM, motherboard) and still want Cyberpunk 2077, but I'll probably be checking out the first game when it's on sale. Worst case-scenario, my BF will love it.
What are your wholesome moments?

Need I say any more? This build is used in almost every game at the higher ranks due to how simple it makes defending the generators. There's no skill or (real) counterplay to this combo. There is counterplay to BBQ, hiding in lockers, but doing that when repairing a generator just wastes precious time. That means there's more chance the killer will get to the generator before it's repaired and ruin all your hard work and effort for no effort or investment at all.
The killer just hooks a survivor (easy enough) and sees everyone's aura, and then they can go to generators being worked on and instantly get rid of 30-40 or more seconds of a generator repair progression, counting the fact it applies normal regression ON TOP OF the massive gen progress decrease. There's nothing the survivor can do about it. It doesn't even have a cool down, so if someone tries to repair the generator to make up for the unavoidable regression loss, the killer can just do it again with no penalty. It literally punishes you for playing well, and I don't know if that's healthy.
I realise this will probably be seen as a joke or bait by the people of this forum, but I'm being serious. This build is used in almost every high rank game - even the Decisive Strike + Unbreakable combo isn't used that often, yet the BBQ+Pop combo is the one ignored. It reeks of hypocrisy to me. Both combos are uncounterable without literally stopping doing your objective. Killers should face the same stigma for running these brainless combos that survivors are given, and I'm sick of this community giving them a free pass.
Tl;dr: Killers are hypocrites for complaining about good survivor perk combos when they use an overpowered and uncounterable perk combo every game. It's the small PP build for killer.
nice try, but your post is suffering of the condition know as "beng a bad bait", sorry

New meta these days is just to hold w could get rid of all the pallets and walls in the game, and even a decent team still most likely could win if the killer doesn't slug.
yeah but there are wayy to many levels of skill, more than 20 that`s for sure, so they do have different kind of knowledge, but yeah, playing survivor is pretty meh, and all the survivors can use 3 functional neurons while playing

@Timo__R said:
I want to talk about that the Devs keep handling issues with nerfs or buffs for every Killer and survivor the same.
I basically mean that not every buff or nerf should apply to every killer the same, because every change effects every killer differently.
Let´s take something simple like pallets for example, adding more pallets would make this game way more harder for killer like wraith or Trapper as for killer like Huntress or nurse.
Same would apply for survivor, so everyone should know that there are mostly 3 scenarios when playing survivor:
No 1.Playing as 4 man Swf and have it easier if everyone has half a brain.
No 2.Playing solo and experince living hell with what seems like the worst teammates ever who don´t even how to loop and waste everything.
No 3.Playing Partly Swf and have to hope no one of the other random mates don´t ruin this match.
So let´s say we devs reduce the number of pallets for example: No.1 won´t be effect as much as the other, because your mates probably know not to drop every pallet on sight and can communicate where they shouldn´t go when they get chased becasue the pallet there is already broken.
No.2 would make palying alone even more frustrating, u basiclly would need to use certain perks every match otherwise u would be dependent on luck if u can find a pallet which wasn´t used (which is already way to much based on luck)
No.3 would probably as well be way more effected as a 4 man swf, sure u have like 1 other person who could tell u where pallets could be or not but this would still be based on luck as well because someone could have used the pallet there in the meantime.
I hope everybody got what i mean and i was only talking about something simple as pallets and wanted to keep it short.
Pallets aren´t even my issue but i don´t write an whole book about Perks, tiles, maps, hatch, bugs, lags, hitboxes and so on.
If Devs would treat things not as a whole this game would be so much more fair.
Money, once this game is actually balanced, normal survivors would be completely destroyed, cause the average survivor on solo cant loop whitout dh, nor can survive without ds, i suppose due to the fact that this game`s concept is for now unique things like looping i mean, and the average killer who is forced to deal with amazing amounts of bs, would just dominate and all those mid level casual swfs and solos would fly away... thats my theory anyway

Then the pork undying which I played against it wasn't op it just made you do totems sometimes you guessed right and were rewarded. Perks like ds, unbreakable there is no counter to that combo. Why can't we just make the game balance instead of easier to play survivor. It is called dead by daylight so I would rather be terrified to be near the killer than just ok let me look you for 3 mins so my team can do gens. You're first sentence is why I don't really take this forum seriously anymore. Any attempt at legitimate criticism of survivor gameplay/perk "LEL KILLER MAIN". Any attempt at criticism of killer perks/gameplay "LOL SURV MAIN".
I've been playing for 4 years and well over 70% of that is as killer. If you played this game to the degree I have you'd see how easy this game is for good killers nowadays. I watched two straight years of survivor nerfs only for killers to still claim the game is unfair (the game isn't unfair 90% of complaints lead back to DS/Unbreakable).
For example, why do I criticise people who defend how braindead strong killers like Freddy are?
Because I mained him pre-rework and he took actual brains and micromanagment to play well.
Why do I criticise people who cry about the tiniest of nerfs to killer slowdown perks on the forums?
Because I learned to play killer back when their was almost 3x the pallets there are now, survivors perks were stronger and there was less variety in slowdown perks available. Yet people claim the game is unwinnable as killer when they have access to stuff like Pop and Corrupt on maps that can spawn as little as 8 pallets on the regular. Players who don't want to get better, they want to be carried.
Winning against a good team was doable then, and its sure as hell doable now.
I've been here since day 1 of these forums. I've watched it go from a decently fun place to discuss the game and balance changes to self-victimisation general, it's almost tumblr levels of self pity. If it weren't for the global pandemic and currently being on work furlough I wouldn't even be here.
Heck, I do actually play survivor more nowadays when I can actually find games, not because its easier (it certainly isn't solo) I'm just bored of killer. 99% of matches are way too easy even as a mid tier like Doctor. Killer matches are instant now but games are unsatisfying due to the insane disparity in skill on survivors in red ranks.
The sweat squads are still there, and they do turn balance into a joke, but they make up less than 5% of actual matches. Maybe even less. And even then those matches are way more fun than slaughtering some boosted swf players.
Heck, its not just me, many of the streamers I watch (Geistra, Zubatlel, Morf) don't even play killer anymore as its so easy and reptitive now.
No idea why I wrote this much. Guess the ignorance in your post triggered me.
ok

@Junylar said:
They haven't said anything about it, but I might have an idea why exactly DS stays unchanged. It's because it's just hard to use. I have 400 hours in the game and still can't consistently hit that skillcheck. And there is nothing more frustrating in the game than missing DS while the gates are open. So this perk is like a Nurse of survivor perks: it's strong, but will take a lot of time learning and failing miserably before you can get full value out of it. This is probably the reason behind the perk not being nerfed as well: the numbers show that survivors who run DS die with the same rate as those without it just because there are a lot of new players who miss that goddamned skillcheck.
This also shows that the perk is not really just an untitunneling perk, since you can easily be tunneled and if you miss that skillcheck you won't be saved from it. It's a skill-based perk that can be abused by highly skilled players, but it can't even be used in the basic way by those who are not skilled enough.
Understanding this fact can lead to a good way of changing it into a better perk, by making it a truly anti-tunneling perk. Add all those nerfs kiilers demand, like expiration on interaction with anything or anyone and expiration on hooking of another survivor, but also remove the skillcheck: make it auto-success or just "press action button" kind of perk. That way it will be fair and more accessible to all players who can't hit the skillcheck all the times. I think most players would agree on this buff-nerf kind of change.
are you seriusly trying to say that ds is fair cause you personaly cant hit a skill check ?

I genuinely think players are simply burned out and the reality of the game has gotten to many people along with the fact that it probably won't much different months from now.

Some guys are so dumb. If another survivor heals you it takes 16 seconds and 2 (!!!) survivors can’t do anything else.
If you selfcare you are ALONE and it takes 32 seconds and another survivor can sit on a gen. So its the same amount of time overall.... if another survivor only takes one second to get to you and heal you it's actually more efficient to selfcare since you can do it immediately.
And you are more versatile if you selfcare because spreading out is really important and another survivor can finish a gen while you heal yourself.
So stop the self-care hate, it also allows you to make plays (get out of the exit gate if everyone else left or killer is near it, save someone safely, etc) and... well you don't die in one shot and thus stay longer in the game which is the most important part.
I'd love if every of my teammates ran selfcare when I play solo survivor, they most of the time get ambushed by tinkerer or are unaware and die in one hit all the time or crouch in a bush waiting for someone else to show up and heal them... That's wasting time.
LMFAO, as i killer, i agree, pls survivors, every single one you guys should bring self care, please do it

Now? all of this + cleansing minimum 3 Totems on my own. Nothing is getting done. Its super unenganging because most killers ignore me once I loop them for 20 seconds. They realize Im not easy to down so they go for my potatoe mates.

I would be delighted if the devs thought of a way which would prevent or in any way penalize in such a way that these killers have to change the way they play. I know it is a form of game, but there is a lot of "ego" in this game, almost more than 60% of the players play to WIN, which .. speaking of Dead by Daylight (it is not a competitive game) also adding that these Tunneling by the killers makes them appear in the BHVR statistics and the equivalent of many of them have to nerf because of these players who play this way, I don't see it fair, to give an example from my experience, in my games of survivors, I find every 10 games, 5 tunnellers who end up killing 3 even 4 players because there is so little level that these players do not know what to do against these people. Why don't you do something? You are respecting the statistics when some statistics are many factors behind this, so please I would be super enthusiastic that someday BVHR deals in some way or another with this "thing.
Do you think it fair that a killer who tunnels kills all 4? It's fair? In consecuense...
BHVR: Take the stats ... Example: Trapper kills 4 in each game? Why could it be? Bear in mind that there is a lot of camper and tunneller and this I THINK that the devs do not take it into account.
To finish, to say that, I do not believe that it is fulfilled or that any community manager will read it, that one day those players who play easy (camping or tunneling) obtaining 4k will be penalized in some way by inciting another mode of play.
Thank you.
in red rank, you are not going to win getting 12 hooks every match, sorry, game is bad balanced, so suck it up while using your ds and unbk

Yesterday was my first day playing DBD on PC. I've played for about two weeks on XBOX. The one difference I have noticed thus far: End game chat.
I was called all sorts of fun things at the end of one of my games last night. Camper and hacker being some of the nicer terms.
Here's why, sorry for the length:
I see Claudette from the get go. I am able to get her onto a hook. I start walking away because a gen pops in the distance, but I hear her trying to get off the hook behind me. So I turn and watch her until Daddy Long Legs start to show up due to failed attempts (almost struggle but not quite yet). I was there for maybe 3 seconds. I wasn't trying to camp by any means. I just figured if she's going to have the audacity to try to jump off right then, then I'm justified in observing her. So I go to check a nearby generator. I have the crows, one of them alerted me that a player was in that general area. Naturally she is rescued seconds later. I am able to find her very easily and I hook her again. I start looking in nearby lockers for her rescuer. She gets rescued again while I'm checking lockers. I'm able to down her and start carrying her to a hook. Two survivors block the hook and she wiggles free. I down one of them, and hook him. Then I look around for the other two players in that area. The fourth player unhooks him and they're able to escape through the gate. They burned through those generators. It was maybe a five-six minute game total.
End game chat comes up and they call me a camper for staying in that area. They also express their opinion of me in a very vulgar light. Even though I was actively looking for other survivors I knew were nearby. Then they said I had to be a hacker if I knew they were nearby. 🙄 Perks and eyeballs don't count I guess.
Anyway, should I have simply run off in the beginning instead of waiting the 3 seconds to see if she was going to get off the hook when she was actively attempting to do so right in front of me? As a new player, hindsight tells me I should have focused on the gens more so during that specific match. I legitimately thought they were using her as a distraction due to how easy it was to capture her.
Please productively criticize and give tips. I'm not trying to make the game any more "unpleasant" than it needs to be for other players. I would love to be a well mannered killer. 🤣
dont kill anyone, i guess is what survivors want

What I've gotten real tired of is seeing a SWF padding the MMR; high rank survivors with one smurf account to queue with low rank killers. I don't think they realize just how discouraging that is for new killers. It's been rampant lately.
can confirm, got my friend to play this sad excuse for a game, 3 out of 5 matches are a agaisnt red ranks with one or 2 low ranks, she is rank 13-12

Yesterday I took off undying off the killers I was playing and nearly all my matches started off with ruin being gone in 2 minutes. I couldn't defend gens with no gen defense so the games usually were about 7 minutes. No matter how fast the chases ended those gens went flying.
Survivors never talk about how its unfair that ruin can go just like that but when the killer uses undying it's suddenly op
you are asking if a a combo that you can (lose) be lost in the first 30 seconds of a match and then be left with only 2 perks left is op, well, no it isnt

Please Devs, I beg of you to do something about this perk combo. As someone who plays both sides pretty equally, this is a disgusting perk combo. Playing killer is too easy with it (I got four 32k point games in a row with TRAPPER - a low mobility killer). Playing as survivor, almost always solo queue, is downright painful.
I very rarely use this perk combo as killer because I recognize how overkill it is, yet I can't even keep track of how many times I've played against a Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer Spirit, Freddy, or Leatherface just today. I know many people are going to say "JuSt dO tOtEmS", but this is hard to coordinate on solo queue, even on SWF. Once the Ruin is gone, it's likely the killer has already started snowballing and no gens are being worked on.
I would be really interested in the statistics on these perks if anyone knows if there are any statistics available. I just ask that this perk combo be seriously examined, and maybe consider tweaking Undying. Also, I'd appreciate it if anyone knows if there has been talks about changing Undying, or any of these perks for that matter.
"Ds, unbk, dh, pls devs, do something about this combo..."
