This game is easy... compared to most other popular games.
Not to be a braggart but I'd say I'm pretty much the same skill level as all those streamers who play killer for a living, but I can play Rainbow Six or CS:GO for hundreds of hours and still get steamrolled every other match.
Anyone can say that; people often overestimate their skill. And everyone's good when using certain perks and/or killers as well. You don't need to be very good at the game to pretty much 4k all the time with undying/ruin/tinkerer/pop freddy or spirit for example. Being good at the game also goes beyond constantly getting 4ks or getting out of a match, which isn't hard to do when perks can carry you so heavily.
And again my point is: if the game was so easy then in general there would be less distinction between skill tiers. There would not be much difference between someone who played 200 hours vs 3000 hours. We would be seeing more of these mythical-and-still-yet-to-be-validated prodigies like you yourself claim to be

Coldwind maps by far

Solo queue DBD is more like 1v1v1v1v1 as opposed to 1v4 like a swf would be as the swf is an actual team and they work in the best interests of each other
Solo queue are randoms who are forced to play with each other, have no contact with one another, playing for themselves.

I think anyone who regularly posts here is too close to be objective.
There is no objectivity in rating games though...?
It boils down completely to "do I like this or not". It's purely subjective. Whether something is good or bad is subjective. What may be bad design to one person is good design to another person.

Theres very few things in this game that take skill. I'm starting to realize both sides bickering back and forth about what is skillful and what isn't is pointless.
You say this and yet the vast majority at this game suck and typically the only people who say this are the ones with thousands of hours.
If it didn't require skill everyone would be almost nearly the same as the best killer and survivor
-
This is my take of playing DBD: Don't get tied into morals. You've got some morons in this game who try to uphold some sort of moral code but you play how you want. Just as you don't finish a book you don't like, don't stay in a trial you don't like if you so wish. You aren't obligated to make the game fun for anyone else but yourself and I recommend playing it as you see fit even at the expense of others because at the end of the day, even as solo queue survivor, this is a single player game. Killer is single player, solo queue survivor is single player even though it's put in a team role (instead of 1v4, it's more like 1v1v1v1v1)
While no one should be abused, I also don't think anyone should act beyond reproach and not think that they can't be complained about if they are using something the other party deems unfair. You are playing a killer who can pretty accurately track and attack survivors while invisible and the survivors themselves have no counter against her other than guessing as opposed to using game mechanics and this is more busted than voice comms will ever be, especially with Spirit's add ons. Many people see that as bullshite and therefore aren't going to have a good time. Play Spirit all you want but don't act beyond reproach when people get upset when they go against a Spirit player as it can make the game unfun for them.
I apply that logic to myself when I run undying ruin tinkerer Freddy. It's not fun for the survivors I go against. I get hate comments or whatever in end game chat (when I do feel like reading it which I normally just keep it disabled). I understand they don't find it fun, but I don't care. I'm not there to entertain them. However I just keep my end game chat disabled
-
To be honest I'm not sure why they go so hard in the paint calling stretched res an exploit but they don't dub this as an exploit.
Both stretched res (which is beneficial for both survivor and killer) and the dpi macro flick are exploits that give advantages in game but they seem to cherry pick which they call "cheating" and which ones they don't.
-
I think the issue is less about reworking hex perks and more so that hex spawns should be more difficult to find
Two hexes should never be so close to each other like they often are sometimes, and I don't think they should be so easily found by basically being out in the open
-
Are you referring to the 3.0.0 dev build that you can subsequently edit? If so that's been a thing for a while
-
I think the issue is less about the player and more about the killer itself
To play Nurse well you have to be above mediocre because she's more punishing with her mistakes (fatigue) and her blinks involve practice and muscle memory.
Spirit on the other hand, while she is more difficult than people admit, you can suck ass with Spirit and still 4k at any skill level regardless of how well you use your phase. Because it simply involves a headset, stridor, or following scratch marks. And also the fact that she has no counterplay; she knows where survivors are, but survivors don't know where she is. So people have respect for matches they deem to warrant some sort of skill and/or balance.
I don't really blame people for being upset at versuing Spirit because she's busted. She can be invisible while being able to hit you and survivors have no indication as to where she is. Nurse on the other hand has to predict along with the survivor where the survivor goes. With every blink you know it takes effort and skill.
-
People also forget to emphasise DH's invisible frames a lot. People literally will sometimes DH into a killer when the killer is about to swing or use their power (i.e. projectile hit) because they know invisible frames will protect them from getting hit.
DH is very abusable and acts as a third health state. It's not like the other exhaustion perks where it involves setup and has some sort of risk to the survivor if not used properly. There is no downside to using DH because it's literally pressing E and nothing else.
Like for example, Pyramid Head's Rites of Judgement can be negated by a survivor using DH through it. Not to get across it, literally in the same direction of the power.
Sprint Burst is objectively better in terms of its strength but in practice not as strong because of how it takes over the normal running function and how slow walking everywhere is, even when using Fixated. But at least I respect someone who knows how to time their Sprint Burst well since that takes time management and some sort of effort, unlike simply pressing E
-
@Superyoshiegg said:
Dead Hard is irritating because it extends chases **on command**. All of the other Exhaustion perks have a prerequisite or downside to it.
- Balanced Landing requires a significant drop to use, and not all maps have those readily available (if at all).
- Lithe requires a window or pallet vault before it can be used, both of which leave the Survivor vulnerable during their animations.
- Sprint Burst requires the Survivor to walk everywhere if they don't want to waste it, and the chances of being found mid-cooldown means it can be rarely used as a quick boost in a chase.
- Smash Hit needs you to get a successful pallet stun, which may not be possible depending on how much the Killer respects pallets.
Dead Hard has nothing. All you need to do is time the activation, which isn't difficult in the slightest.
"Welp, he pressed E and made it to that loop whereas anyone else would've gone down. Time for it to extend the chase by another 45-60 seconds."
So much skill. It's the literal definition of a Second Chance perk. At least Decisive Strike can only be used once per game, and the screw up that it needs to activate (being hooked) isn't wiped away by the perk's usage.
Dead Hard is literal invincibility. Ignore using it for distance on command, you can literally use it as a shield to prevent getting hit even if you don't use it for distance. For example you can DH into a killer who swung at you at the same time to prevent from getting hit because it's invisible frames on command.
It is perpetual Mettle Of Man with no meaningful prerequisite.
edit: not disagreeing with you btw, just expanding on your point
-
BBQ is pretty much a BP perk. It's terrible for tracking. Half the time I use it there are no auras because survivors get in the terror radius/hide in lockers.
Something being easily counterable such as BBQ does not mean it is counterable in every single instance. Just because you can't reach a locker in one instance doesn't mean you can't three other times in a match.
You basically always have something available to hide your aura and/or make your aura reading useless.
However survivors screaming instead of auras shown would be better though, but only in certain circumstances like if they were injured
-
Yep has been happening to me a lot, especially since the recent update.
Have been playing Legion mostly, and I CONSTANTLY get Ormond, Coldwind, Red Forest maps. Sometimes I can play for an entire day and get majority coldwind maps. It's obnoxious.

Its the break it, we got a Kpop idol while fortnite gets a horror icon (Ripley and the Xenomorph). How embarrassing.
This kind of thinking is dumb when DBD already has iconic figures like Myers, Pyramid Head, and whatnot.
I wasn't aware DBD wasn't allowed to do original content anymore simply because fortnite got a licenced character.
-
What you describe is actually the true danger of Object that people don't realise almost always, many times because they talk shite about OoO without ever having decent experience with and against the perk.
The perk is only strong when the team is playing stealthy. Which at least in my experience often does not happen; they simply play normally and have the OoO user call out locations.
This team appears to be the type to not care about being in a chase or interacting with the killer and simply do gens and be stealthy. That's the issue with Object because you can do call outs from so far away and have such a head start that you won't really manage to kill anyone, let alone probably hook them twice before all generators are done.
-
I've seen an EU nurse streamer stretch their res in a way that basically has the same effects as shadowborn, and they say they do it so they don't have to waste a perk slot
as far as i know, stretched res increases both vertical and horizontal FOV, and I my guess is survivor benefits more from vertical FOV and killer horizontal FOV

Well, seeing as I'm a straight guy with little to no knowledge on the subject, I'll throw in my two cents on the matter.
For people saying "they need to take time to fix the game", they won't. They simply won't. Whoever runs the dev's schedule simply does not give them time to do anything but make new content. Complaining about a possibly LGBT+ won't change that. So what does it matter if people get the representation they want? From what I have seen, people want actual representation, not just "Gay McGee". They just want an actual character who happens to be gay. Not a character whose entire thing is being gay.
For the people saying "it doesn't affect gameplay", well, neither will them being LGBT+. The lore of the character doesn't affect gameplay, so why even bring that up? All it serves is to make people happy or give that skin your using more character.
For people saying "it would be pandering" this entire game is pandering. Most media is pandering. In a media-driven culture like the one a lot of people live in, everything is pandering. If BHVR wants to do it to make the game more inclusive, which they seem to want to
If it really doesn't matter to you, why even say it at all? Just because it doesn't matter to you doesn't mean it won't matter to someone else. I just don't get the backlash these threads get. Just let people be happy with the idea, jesus.
The only issue I've seen thus far is people making it a point to say that there needs to be more lgbt whatever representation across the board as if everyone, let alone most people, in that spectrum want that, instead of simply stating the desire for that representation on an individual basis.
If you want something to represent you then go on for it, but I see no need to try and bring other people into it as if it's a community wide thing and that all LGBT people want it. I'm gay and I give zero ######### about the sexuality of a character or if they represent me. I play Ace, Felix, and Jake, and they don't look anything remotely similar to me nor are they gay but I don't care about
You enter a conundrum when you try to make something a community issue but then have to cherry pick the desires and wants of members of that community to reach a particular conclusion.

maybe it's just me but i do feel like some people put fps games on a higher tier and treat it beyond reproach, because i find it weird they also don't have the self awareness to realise csgo and many other fps games are equally as repetitive, if not maybe more

My biggest problem with DBD is that it is a great idea with a mediocre execution at best, so you have to be very persistent to really like this game. As of today I've already presented DBD to 5 of my college friends and no one could play for more than a few hours and now they think the game is trash lol. I really wish this game had any sort of competitor.
I don't think the game involves commitment at all to be interested in it. And I mean I can counter your example with my own real life experiences. I have college-aged friends who picked up the game within the past year and really like it, some even have hundreds of hours. Even my 11 year old cousin likes the game, and I didn't even introduce him to it (he plays DbD mobile and was surprised to hear that I play it on PC)
edit: past year = 2020, not 2021
And I can also give examples about how other games have bored not only me but so many other friends of mine. Like not only me, but I know plenty of other people who've tried Valorant and LoL and are extremely bored of it and find it to be a waste of time. I couldn't even put 30 minutes into LoL without being bored of it and never playing it again.
DbD has its problems and they should be critiqued, but I do feel like people romanticised and exaggerate other games being so much better when you will find the same amount of people, if not more, complaining about different things about those games.

- bad rep on the devs part for a bunch of glitches/bugs and mismanagement of the game thats embarrassing on their part . their tendency to ignore the playerbase and project the same toxicity the players do.
- sometimes the game feels more like a cosmetic dress-up barbie game with all the cosmetics and wild prices instead of meaningful game updates beyond a new killer & survivor re-skin.
- survivor gameplay being painfully-stale
- its an ugly & outdated 6-5 year old game with dated gameplay no matter what animations or tweaks they try to do because of their refusal to make a sequel. how long can you milk a game thats so past its prime on a technical level thats badly optimized to boot.

There's also the way the community acts and not wanting to be directly associated with them. That's a fair reason in my book, similar to how you wouldn't openly talk about playing Ecchi RPG's or always see people bashing mechanics very harshly when they do (even though they're generally equal to or better than most other games in the same genre).
@Zozzy said:
Because it is so basic, yet addictive.
The community is not that great, but that is caused by the Devs.
The Devs are terrible when it comes to communication and decision making.
Toxicity is just a part of online gaming communities in general. DBD isn't unique or really more saturated in terms of having ######### and toxicity with players. Let's not pretend that the general image of online gaming communities across the board is known for even decent politeness/manners/rapport/sportsmanship. People in general are ######### on the internet and it doesn't stop when they play games, if anything is amplified. Also even though some other games have legitimately-recognised eSports teams, let's not pretend that almost entirely games are not for casual play. eSports and competitive play are just that, they do not overlap with casual play which is the vast majority of how people play any time of game.
I don't think the game looks ugly, especially when compared to other games like LoL which looks like something I would play when Windows XP was new. It's pretty well designed in my opinion and not subpar. You can say the playstyle is boring in some respects but I can say that about Valorant where I'm just shooting people. But opinions aside, the graphics aren't the problem, let alone how entertaining the game is in any respect, since it's one of the most popular games today. You may not like the graphics and updates but evidently others do, so that's not it.

@[Deleted User] said:
Bad updates and management makes the game feel like a cash grab (which it mostly is) and i assume this is why people don't like the fact that they play a cash grab game.
But isn't that mostly known within the community of the game though? It's not like cyberpunk where all of its flaws were plastered all over the news for so long that everyone, including people who didn't play it, knew about its bad management, updates, and features.
For DbD I don't think this is the case, but correct me if I'm wrong. Superficially I don't think it presents anywhere near that way to people who actually aren't invested in the game. The only thing recently I can think of was the controversy over the colour blind settings which had publicity from outlets on the internet. But to be quite honest so many other games are cash grabs to where I don't understand why it's a sudden concern that DbD is one.

@gendoss said:
They give you a limited FOV for a reason. There's a reason people use stretched res and it's because it gives you a huge advantage letting you see through loops that are designed to have line of sight blockers.
Am I misunderstanding something? From my understanding, FOV increases horizontal vision. Stretched res does both horizontal and vertical but the benefit of stretched res comes from its increased vertical vision, making you able to see over loops. Not horizontal.
FOV and POV aren't the same thing. Stretched res' benefit comes from POV (vertical). For example Blight is getting his POV changed, making it higher, thus increased vertically. His FOV is not being increased to make it wider (horizontal); it is becoming taller (vertical).
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Gonna say it to anyone who thinks noed rewards bad killers. If the killer is bad and is no threat why didn’t you just do bones? Obviously the killer wasn’t so bad or else you would have done bones. So he’s distracted you enough for you to not do bones.sounds like his effort pays off for him.
if the killer is stopping the 4 of you from doing bones then he earns his noed.. or you are choosing to give it to him either way noed is fine
That's a terrible explanation. People often times don't do bones when they don't have an incentive to do so. That has nothing to do with how well the killer is distracting you.
You can make an argument about doing bones and whatnot but that has zero bearing on the skill of the killer.
On that note, NO ED is the true blue shell of this game and rewards bad gameplay. It rewards you for failure and its permanent effect is overbearing regardless of if it's a hex or not. It should be 120 seconds like Hope.

Finally someone with common sense.
Why does a perk need nerfing because it can counter the strongest killer in the game? Does calm spirit also need a nerf because it counters doctor? I feel like people will only be happy when there's no more perks to nerf and everything is Wake Up tier.
Dead Hard isn't only good against Nurse lol if anything she is one of the lesser affected. She can teleport to a survivor at a great distance. Someone who made a Nurse whiff with Dead Hard can easily get smacked 10 seconds later after her fatigue is done, especially with double recharge add ons.
Not the same case for tonnes of other killers who don't have that mobility advantage in chase.
Dead Hard pretty much affects all killers greatly.

Killers just overreacting.
Exhaustion perks all count as extra health states.
Some are stronger than others. Some are easier to use than others.
Deadhard isn't as strong as Sprint Burst, Lithe, etc. but it's more versatile and easier to use in all situations. That's why it's used by a lot of survivors. It is not as powerful in terms of effect as some of the other Exhaustion perks but thanks to its versatility it is used more. Killers just get their perception colored more because they get frustrated more facing it so many times and feeling each time they miss their swing. Which is not what happens with other exhaustion perks.
Further, missing swings is psychologically damaging especially when it happens when you are about to finish and down the survivor. Other exhaustion perks work at the start of the chase or in the middle so they're not as mentally harsh as Dead Hard.
You're not looking at it from the perspective of chase and functionality.
All the other exhaustion perks, head on/lithe/sprint burst come at a cost of a basic function. Sprint Burst being the strongest but it comes at the cost of having to manage your movement to time your use of the perk properly, and Sprint Burst generally is to prevent the first hit rather than avoids a hit that should have happened. On top of that, you can zone Sprint Burst to make its distance less effective, so killers have a way to counter it.
Lithe is situational, as you may not be near a vault, and it may not be ideal to vault, either.
Head On is Head On. No need to discuss that for hopefully obvious reasons.
There is no situation where you would not want to use Dead Hard. It is good in all situations. On top of that it can cause iframes unlike the other exhaustion perks, and the killer can't do anything to make Dead Hard more effective either. It has no counter.
Dead Hard in general is definitely the strongest exhaustion perk. I only would agree Sprint Burst being better if the entire group is running it. But on an individual 1v1 basis in terms of chase, Dead Hard is stronger. And solo queue games are basically 1v1v1v1v1 anyway,

How is BBQ busted? Half the time I use it as killer I see no auras because survivors hide in lockers
Ruin is very strong yes but it has the trade-off of being breakable, although i don't understand why people say it got nerfed when it's currently stronger than its initial form

DH - Exhaustion 40 seconds unless Vigil

@[Deleted User] said:
And I should add that as bad as DH is for m1 killers, basically giving survivors a third health state of really screwing killers over in chases, I’d say its ranged killers like Slinger and Huntress who become less fun to play because of it. Get an amazing long shot or last second reflex shot and its just negated by DH. It also makes killers like Nurse and Blight less fun to play because you can line up your attacks so well but it doesnt matter the survivor has DH. Even if you dont attack because you predict it, you’re still going to go on cooldown and fatigue from using your power.
When I think of maybe playing Blight or Slinger it’s DH that actually makes me decide not to play them because of how unfun it is to line up good attacks/shots and have them negated by a perk. Huntress will be the same once exhaustion hatchets are gone.
Balanced and Lithe are nowhere near as bad. Sprint burst can be frustrating but it ruins stealth killers more so than ranged killers.
DH has lost me so many games. Like I can't even describe. It is the perk that makes me legitimately mald and there are honestly so many times where I want to play killer but I opt out of it because I mentally do not feel like versuing survivors who press E to undo their mistakes. I've been trying to play legion running some fun builds like overcharge/thana/enfury and I can't do that against ds/dh/bt survivors who make the game a living hell
-
@SilentHillOnDvD said:
People will ignore that you can DH for distance and just say stuff like " but you can just bait it out" or "the perk doesn't work I get exhausted on the ground". I wish this perk never existed, there's been so many times I mindgamed somebody but then they used this perk to make it to a god pallet. Such a busted perk
@Pulsar said:
If it didn't have I-frames and it could only be used to dodge a hit, instead of being used for distance, I'd be totally fine with it.
Skillful interaction with counterplay on both sides is always welcome. Unfortunately, DH doesn't work like that currently. It's better used for distance or as a panic button.
I also wish the perk never existed. And it's the one perk honestly that makes me frustrated playing killer, especially because I see multiple people have it in every game. It's such bullshite and unfair. To me it is the most exploitable and busted survivor perk that exists.
@[Deleted User] said:
It's more frustrating right now because the only counterplay that dead hard has, does not apply to Nurse.
Everyone is playing nurse right now, so everyone is running dead hard to hard counter her, and it is incredibly frustrating. Dead hard basically means you have to "hit" every survivor 3 times as nurse.
It's not really all that bad against other killers, it's a strong, fine perk generally outside of a few unfair uses (being able to dead hard over trapper traps is dumb imo as well for example)
There is no way for other killers that perk resembles anything of being balanced. It's not fair when it gives invisible frames, and not only that just extends chase for an unreasonable amount of time and there's nothing the killer can do about it.
It is the one exhaustion perk without detriment. Lithe/Sprint Burst/Balanced Landing restricts how you normally move to large degrees and you have to manage the exhaustion perk. DH can be used on command is basically rewrites a mistake you made. The other exhaustion perks don't do that.
@[Deleted User] said:
I was watching a Tru3 stream yesterday and he had a debate with his chat and I think he nailed it:
People talk about all the times DH does nothing, when you end up exhausted on the ground. These are the ones that downplay it.
if you instead think about all the times it does work, THIS is why its one of the strongest survivor perks and why almost every survivor under the sun is running it. Majority of survivors wouldnt use the perk if it was bad.
There is also the perception. To the survivor its just a quick tap of the E button and a slight dash forward for half a second, hardly seems like an overly powerful perk.
To the killer that dash allowed them to make a strong pallet or window, and now they just lost an extra 20-60 seconds or more of pressure allowing the 3 other survivors to finished the gens they work working on interrupted. Or perhaps the killer had to abandon the chase entirely, meaning the 30-60 seconds they just spent in the first chase was completely for nothing and they got no pressure out of it and its really hurt them.
Dead Hard is essentially a third health state. Like the old DS its that first chase Dead Hard thats the worst and most powerful because it robs the killer of early game pressure when they need it the most. I’ve seen many great players have games be completely cucked by a 1st chase Dead Hard into a safe pallet.
When I play killer this and OoO are the only 2 perks I actively hate. DS I can put up with as its situational and has a requirement but DH is infuriating.
Theres no way DH would be made the way it is now in 2021. Like MoM its just another health state with no requirements other than playing, if DH got made today it would be nerfed into the ground within a few months
I completely agree, it acts as a third health state when used properly, and in red ranks it often is. There is many times not a possibility to bait it out/wait it out depending on where they are, and on top of that you cannot make a survivor use DH.
-
If I see they have no intention of saving me and they very reasonably could without throwing the game for themselves, I'm dying on hook.
I really hate how you have to bring Kindred to make solo queue tolerable. There is no amount of game sense that is going to let you know if someone is being saved or not/whether or not it is the smart decision for you to save/etc.

But people like Otz and Tru3 who have the largest following on DBD, and are also Fog Whispers. If they were to actually take a break from the game, it could spark an uproar within the community and at BHVR. Those two have gone above and beyond with the success of DBD, and those two have always discussed things that could be better and improved on. Which is why you see people always recommending them to newer players.
Otz has one of the bigger followings if not the biggest, but you Tru3 doesn't have the second biggest, unless you meant amongst the Fog Whisperers. If not, you have many other DBD streamers with huge followings as well: Bronx, Umbra, ANGRYPUG, OhTofu (he's a Fog Whisperer afaik), hexy, and you have streamers in other languages who get thousands of views. You have korean streamers who almost rival Otz's numbers.
There are plenty of streamers to go around. But I think your general point is the poster boys of the game in certain areas, if they quit, will it be problematic, and I think sure it would. But I don't think any fog whisperer is that much of a poster to where if they quit it would be problematic for the game. I just think whatever makes them quit is going to be the problem, since it would have to be really intense and seriously bad. Much worse than this update.
-
Can I be honest? I think the devs were so prompt to respond to the backlash because of the negative publicity this update is getting not on streams but in Steam reviews. Look at the spike in negative reviews when this patch came out. Went from something like "very good" to "mixed". That is affecting the image of the game very notably, more so than a streamer who already was inconsistent in streaming DBD before this update saying he won't be streaming until things are fixed.
There are still tonnes of core DBD streamers who stream the game regularly, like tru3, tofu, bronx, otz, and so on. Streamers not streaming DBD is not an issue. DBD is still one of the most popular categories to stream on Twitch.

I agree with both, and especially the last one
Even before the Clown changes, he was not nearly as bad of a killer as people made him out to be. He has bad 1v4 (as many other killers do) but he had good 1v1. He could shut down chase quickly.
Sucks I can't use We'll Make It much in solo queue because so many people don't know what it is and it ends up being a wasted perk slot.

You clearly didn’t read my post. I said that I agree Spirit needs to have some sort of indication on what she’s doing. I just hate it when people ask for her to get nerfed to the ground not acknowledging there’s another side.

Prayer Beads would honestly need a ground up rework imo if that bug was brought back in.

K
I read your post. Evidently you didn't read mine clearly as I literally addressed your general point in the first sentence of my post.
I simply said that's not the general sentiment of people asking for a Spirit nerf. They want her to be counterable, not for her to be "nerfed to the ground".

DH is uncounterable. And Whispers and BBQ are about the same strength.
I agree DH, when used right, is uncounterable.
It depends on what map whether Whispers is on the same playing field as BBQ. On multi-level maps Whispers basically becomes useless. However so does BBQ when survivors routinely hide in lockers to prevent their aura from being seen.

Oh wow, I'm an idiot sorry man 🤣

I mean that's fair, but what I'm trying to say is that Spirit doesn't need to be weaker to become more balanced.
I think you misunderstand the sentiment. Spirit's current position is what's being called for having a nerf, not for Spirit in general being weaker with whatever change.
People are tired of Spirit because she has no counterplay. You cannot counter what you can't see. She knows where you are in phase and is the only killer who can hit you while invisible, and you don't know where she is whatsoever. Any sort of "counterplay" on the survivor's end is a result of luck and guesswork. The one survivor perk, Iron Will, that can mitigate her power is negated by Stridor.
With Nurse, both sides have to guess in many cases. Nurse does not have an ability to know relatively precisely where survivors are when LOS is broken, and even though she is ridiculously strong in the right hands, there is still a balance in terms of counterplay on both sides in that regard when a survivor breaks LOS.
You can't do anything against spirit, and that's Spirit's main strength as of now: that she has no counterplay in chase. Survivors can't do anything. On top of that, to be successful with her does not require a lot of effort either. At least for me when I first tried Spirit in red ranks, and I am awful with her but still got 4ks the majority of my matches with her. People also do not like Deathslinger for similar reasons.

The issue is that there are barely any vaults on that map. You have like less than five overall. Pallets make up for that, but they need to reduce the number of God pallets.
-
Playing killer, camping and tunnelling sometimes is a legitimate play and strategy.
There are sometimes in a trial when someone needs to die and you have to play dirty. There have been many situations where if I let someone go off hook, the game would not be in my favour. If I let them run around the map they are going to split up and do generators. So I'm going to camp to try and get that kill to make a 3v1 in my favour. Again this, imo, should not be typical gameplay, but it is circumstantially needed sometimes.
Tunnelling is for the same reason above.
However I agree about camping and tunnelling being ######### when it's non strategic. I had a bloke camp me to death because he falsely assumed that I broke his hex totems and was upset. I've also had people tunnel me out the game and let everyone else live because I broke their NO ED. Or they facecamp because they've had a bad day and let people bleed out to "stick it to the survivors".

Huntress is fine. Deathslinger is the projectile killer who needs a rework

DBD Cheryl not only looks fine to me but looks better than Silent Hill Cheryl

Ah crap you’re right I’m in no right to complain because I play the stronger role
You need to be aware that when playing killer, it is the power role and meant to be feared and respected, but also survivors are meant to give sympathies to because of how oppressed and bullied the killer role is
war time ptsd from flashlight clicks and tbagging

How am I supposed to do that on Console? We can't flick.
Best advice is to just get as close to them as possible if you're anticipating dead hard
-
The only bait you can do afaik is waiting until you're pretty much touching their back or you do a quick flick upward and that can sometimes make the survivor think you're starting your hitting animation
However this isn't foolproof and people who know how to use Dead Hard well won't fall for this easily
-
No one mentioned the iframes of dead hard? It literally can give invisible frames that makes you invincible when timed right, when the killer was otherwise meant to hit you.
-
- Tl;dr: SWF, particularly when all four are individually good = survivor sided / Solo queue, no matter how good the survivors are individually = killer sided. IMO, at the highest level (or what I assume it to be), the game is survivor sided. In casual play (aka solo queue), it is killer sided. Survivor is a team role and to play it well as a team demands coordination, strategy. You can't do that with randoms in solo queue. However in higher skill levels, especially when on comms (like in tournaments), they are not only individually good but can strategise, coordinate, and plan out what they are doing. It truly becomes 1v4 at that point. Solo queue, even with the best survivors, is merely 1(killer)v1v1v1v1. However the dysfunction, lack of coordination and planning, and disorganisation from solo queue pairings makes it killer sided, but it is closer to being balanced albeit still favours the killer in general.
- Rank 1 on both sides
- uhh shy under a year, circa 900 hours now
- somewhat yes. For survivor I use felix, jake, and ace a lot. have recently been playing with feng. For killer I've played most legion, freddy, and doctor
- As of late, even before this patch, kinda neither. Mostly have played survivor for my hours though.
-
Well, someone has to let these survivors know who's boss. I'd rather it be nurse players than spirits.

When I asked who know better, it was between the 2 different answer, not me or you^^ I tend to think someone who design the game know why a mechanics is created for better than a community manager. Its not a player like me or you who should decide or assume what is it suppose to do.
DB was for the Do bones ! that a lot of people love to throw at hex complainant to end a discussion, I don't like it either cause I can understand that for new players or uncoordinated teams it can be hard to cleanse the five before doing all the gens and I'll not be bother if they had a totem count visible for both sides which could help.
NOED is like a placebo for new killers who think the game as killers can be resume as killing survivors, thoughts its true thats is the ultimate goal, preventing survivors to do their objectives is far more effective and 3 hooking each survivors and ultimately killing them before all gens are done is way more rewarding and give the feeling of a real win (And the game points/pip system show that thats how the game is supposed to be played as killers, if you get 1 or 2 late kills with NOED past rank 10, you barely safe pip while you will pip with 2 kills and 6-8 hooks).
No i was aware of what you meant, it was poking fun at myself
NO ED is what I would call the killer's blue shell of the game. For survivors, it would be DS and maybe unbreakable.

To be true, it does happen to me too, although very rarely.
However, that is not the problem with the perk, its a problem with your teammates. If you do 80% of that job, and they cant be bothered to do the last 20%, i dont think its the problem of the task at hand.
I'm aware. I never blamed the perk. Not sure why people are insisting I am
@AsherFrost said:
Seriously though. These always go the same way. I know you feel like you are bringing a fresh argument, but after 4 years I don't think there is one to be had. NOED went from a perk that couldn't be stopped, to one that could be taken out before it has a chance to activate. That's a huge change
The argument that in solo you can't depend on your team to do the secondary objective has been brought up multiple times, hell from the threads made today it seems these days you can't even count on them to do the primary objective. Fact is, that's the best argument to make NOED hurt more if it activates, or add more dull totem based killer perks, to teach new survivors about the risks of leaving the bones untouched.
If you don't want to cleanse each one, or feel like you don't have the time, then spot and remember, then if NOED activates you can check each spot and just clean the glowing one, once again completely taking that perk out of the match.
A lot of people recommend small game or detective's hunch, I prefer inner strength for my totem slot as survivor, because I play solo a lot and find a free heal to be a really useful perk. The totems aren't hard to see at all in the reworked maps, so tracking them via perk is going to be less and less useful each patch.
I understand "just do bones" sounds condescending, but after 4 years there just isn't another answer, you either cleanse the dulls, or you see NOED pop up. If it helps red ranks hardly ever use it, because they consider the game lost when 5 gens are powered up.
This is what I don't get. This community talks about the same things always. DS, OoO, comms bad, swf bad, dcing bad, so on. It's the same tired topics all the time and I don't understand why I'm not allowed to talk about a previously-discussed topic but everyone else is. Also I never claimed that my talking point was original either.
"do bones" in and of itself is not condescending but I noticed in particular it being used in some ways towards individuals complaining about hexes as if it is their individual fault. Again not saying this is what it means in general, I'm just talking about a particular instance.

Devour Hope and No Ed show you're exposed when you get hit. Rancor shows you as soon as the last gen pops. I'm wondering how much harder that would be to add for No Ed?
I like the element of surprise honestly. And I think that's the purpose behind it showing in such a way. If rancour didn't show auras before the last generator activated then I also think it would show the exposed status upon being hit too.
@DragonMasterDarren said:
hilariously you can say the exact same thing when it comes to "don't tunnel" and "don't slug" when DS and Unbreakable inevitably enter the discussion, both arguments are stupid and lack nuance, the only difference is which side is saying them
Yea that was why I brought up the DS comparison and people didn't seem to get it for some reason. But when people say "just dont tunnel/just wait 60 seconds" in response to complaining about DS that excuse isn't acceptable even though that's literally what you're meant to do to counter it.

"You talk about me not understanding what the perks are, yet you are slapping BS about DS. Devs never said it was intended to be anti-tunnel:
Mind you, this was in response to a thread titled: "Have the devs confirmed ds is supposed to be a "anti tunnel perk"?"
Yeah but no, already answer to this in another thread :
I don't know where you find that info but Dev have always stated that DS was an Anti-tunnel perk, at least since his rework in early 2019....
QUESTION: WHAT LED TO THE DECISION TO PUT THE TIMER ON DECISIVE STRIKE?
Horvath: We decided to put a timer on Decisive Strike as one of the solutions to Decisive Strike being used too often, we tried 2 minutes internally and found that players were able to use DS a long time after being unhooked, where it no longer serves the purpose to protect you from being tunneled/ farmed
Also :
Horvath: I feel like borrowed time and Decisive Strike serve a similar purpose, but DS is controlled by the person on the hook, whereas Borrowed Time requires a teammate to run it and unhoo k you.
You quote a community manager, I quote a game designer, who you think know better ?
As for NOED, almost never used it and it was when I start playing, with experience and playing against good player you quickly understand its not worth the slot. NOED is not as strong as other OS perks like make your choice, dragons grip, rancor... Cause it have a ez counter (yeah I know, you don't like the DB! sentences but its a fact). NOED is kinda like facecamping, it may grant you a kill but you loose in the big picture, and except maybe for some kids or noobs, its not a win, just a less frustrating L.

Evidently not me, I stand corrected.

What is DB? database?
I agree generally, and I see the very casual players use it since their perks tend to not be so great and NO ED is the strongest. Or they may not be that good so they think they need it to potentially win. Ironically the only killer I really think NO ED potentially works well on is Deathslinger (so far).
