  • que times have gotten a lot better. IMO that shows playing matches has been prioritized over waiting in lobbies. I have noticed that matchmaking is way better in peak times so I would guess that means that there is a wide range of acceptable partners to get us in the game. I am trusting it will improve. I can’t remember a time when we weren’t complaining about matchmaking. I started about a year ago and got paired against high skill players when I was a rank 20-18 killer. It took me SO long to get into yellow ranks facing that competition. They changed that matchmaking from average SWF to highest rank in SWF.

Dude, running Bond can’t help you carry your rank 20 teammates against an experienced killer. Running Bond or Kindred is no replacement for teammates who understand the basic mechanics of the game.

I never said I could carry rank 20s. When I see that my team is playing like potatoes I stop playing like escaping is possible. I don’t know how you made that leap in logic. my expectations effect my enjoyment of the match, I’m not sour when we get steamrolled.

I used a killer I am normally good with and only killed one and could not down anyone else. I was like ######### and so tried a brand new killer to me and was even worst. I was like well time to take a break and wait for this to balance out maybe. lol

On survivor side I agree I need to paired up with players around my skill or better but currently I am getting matches like this and yes I am Rank 13 but I depiped because I babysat so much I could not get enough points.

    yeah several of these games

  • I’ve generally had a good experience with twitch streamers. I’ve been accused of stream sniping a couple times. I don’t put that kind of effort into the game since I play on a laptop but I’ll usually get out of matches for a bit and go onto their stream if anything remarkable happened in the match. Sometimes I’ll even stay for an hour or so if I like their channel.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/176942/so-devs-can-you-rework-moris

I agree, fix both moris and keys, neither have good counters. Both of them have a few problems

    Problems with keys:

    • Survivors can get one through RNG, which is completely unpredictable, and the killer can't possibly patrol the chests too. It's unfair because it is entirely RNG based, you might be dominating a whole game and then the survivors just get a key and now your win is barely a draw.
    • One key can allow multiple people to escape, especially when down to the last 2.
    • Even if you know they are bringing a key, it's hard to prepare for them, when survivors typically can finish 2-3 gens in the first couple of minutes, it is very difficult to deal with a key, especially in a SWF scenario.

    Problems with moris:

    • Shortens the time to kill way too much, killers can just tunnel someone straight off the hook for a mori, can't even use DS to get out of it.
    • Removing even 1 survivor from the game early generally means a loss for the whole team.
    • There is no realistic way for survivors to counter a mori. They can't predict them before the match to prepare in some way, and the only way to not get mori'd is to "play better"

    How to fix keys:

    • Make it so keys are no longer able to be found in the trial
    • Make it so when a key is used on the hatch it only allows 1 survivor through, and the hatch is put on cooldown and will not open for 60 seconds.
    • Make it so the key has a short charge/animation for opening the hatch (something small, like 5 seconds)
    • Make it so if a survivor is sacrificed (specifically sacrificed, so moris don't count) while holding a key, the key is removed from the trial
    • Make it so if a survivor uses a key they get more bloodpoints when escaping through the hatch. (max out survival, give em 8k)

    How to fix moris:

    • Make the yellow mori basekit, because its fun why not? You already killed everyone anyway, outside of having DS as the last survivor which is pretty rare it shouldn't be a problem.
    • Make green and ebony moris now work on a token system. Every time a survivor is hooked, gain 1 token. Everytime a generator is completed, lose 1 token. When you are at 3 tokens, you can mori a survivor you down.
    • Green mori allows 1 kill
    • Ebony mori allows 2 kills, but survivors only have to repair 4 generators to escape. The generator that is furthest away from the killer is automatically completed when the trial starts.
    • When a killer mori's someone, they should get significantly more bloodpoints (think like pyramid head where you get like 1000)

This means that keys can now be countered in the game, by focusing on the person with the key. It also leads to some moments where a survivor with a key who is on death hook, might give their key to someone else so that they can still keep the key in the trial. It also means that keys can no longer randomly be found in chests to give survivors a free win they don't deserve.

This gives moris a counter so that survivors now have a way to prevent a mori from occurring by powering through a generator together, it also makes ebony mori much less powerful by only allowing 2 kills and giving survivors a head start on the match to compensate for the fact that the killer gets to shorten their kills. It also gives both sides a fun way for the match to end by making yellow basekit so that it's not always the same. Many killers who don't like using moris will now get to actually see the animation play out sometimes.

I like your token system for moris idea. I don’t know if the problem is severe enough to warrant a fix but first hook moris are cheap and not a fun way to play.

  • I’ve been running self care lately as well. I’ve noticed a new breed of player that either doesn’t understand that you are asking for a heal or doesn’t want to waste their gen time on a heal. I do want to be in control of my health states so yeah I run self care. Tried IS but I find I can spend twice as long looking for a totem as I would just doing self care. Hawkins in particular is awful for finding totems. (Well it’s awful in every way I can think of except aesthetics).

DS by itself is fine. Noed by itself is fine. Its not fine when you use other perks that synergize too well with them.

I have no problem with either perk. But NOED will be a factor in every game that you don’t dominate. DS will only be a factor if your fellow survivors unhook poorly or the killer is a proxy camper or some combo of those 2. It’s been nerfed into a limited role and you can only use it in 10% of matches or so.

  • Yeah trapper needs a fix. Sometimes I can find his traps but it shouldn’t be the focus of my match. His setup already puts him behind the power curve considering that a SWF can do 5 gens in like 4 minutes.

  • It seems pretty obvious to me that it’s tied to the metrics that make the blood point system and emblem system. They already have numbers, it’s already behaviors body of work of what constitutes performance, and behavior is known for band aid fixes.

  • Same hours as you: bond, self-care, lithe, DS.

I like DS on solo que just because it helps when teammates farm me. Which isn’t often but it’s often enough that I don’t enjoy the game when it happens. Also Freddy and spirit.

They said they aren't locking Survivors because they are all the "same" yet a Nea with barely any perks switching to a Zarina that has max perks, fully kit item, etc should be considered the "same."

Locking survivors would make more sense if you could only spend Dwight points on Dwight. Otherwise the argument is that i chose a skin with less perks and then switched in lobby. You gain no advantage by doing so.

  • Yeah, nobody complains about her add ons anymore so I guess the major complaints were solved.

Almost every game i played this weekend paired me with a one perk baby killer. I know it doesn't mean anything, but I am somehow rank 4 and have been playing half asleep.

Killer games are the opposite mostly. Im a midtier killer and have gotten almost all highrank good players

I’ve gotten a mostly high ranked survivors in my killer matches. I’m rank 14 atm after a long layoff. Some of those survivors were really good in chase. Most survivors were immerse gen jockeys.

My beef with solo queue at the moment is the new MMR system.

To be honest this post was just a hyperbolic joke, I was frustrated and not being terribly serious. I think the game will probably be fine, it’s just fun to vent.

i play solo que and don’t have many problems with it. I run bond so if my team is not so good I know what the outcome is gonna be. I can steer chases away from gens in progress etc. as far as the new MMR system I think it’s gonna improve matchmaking. I only started playing about a year ago and it’s been nonstop complaints about matchmaking and que times. Que’s are awesome now compared to the past.

when matchmaking matches you with appropriate player ranks everyone complained about player skill not matching rank and que time. I think it’s on the right path from a single year of experience pov.

  • My favorite glitch is when you finish the match and then get the EAC or VAC error and don’t get any bps and have to shut your program down and sometimes have to verify files and install one again to get back in the game. Way more fun to deal with.

woah calm down lol i literally said i agree dcing is bad and dcing against annoying killers is bad, was literally just saying that some killers dont really have counterplay. youre like arguing with something i didnt say

I don’t see any issue with DCing to scummy killers. Whether that is from OP add ons, Moris, playstyle, Freddy, or spirit. If you aren’t enjoying the match then don’t play it.

  • everything Freddy is gross.

  • maps need to appear in bloodweb more or their add ons need to appear in the bloodweb way less. I have so many characters with 20-30 map add ons and maybe 1 map on that character. Which still isn’t all that useful in you know the map. I would only want a map to find totems

  • If I wind up downing a survivor shortly after they were unhooked I won’t pick them up. Not waiting out DS, but will not pick them up. I’d rather 0k than tunnel. Not because of some obligation to the survivors but because proxy camping just isn’t a fun play style. You can however buy a hard tunnel with your play style. It’s not very often.

    More of these posts?

Get over the fact that NOED is overused by bad players with pretty easy killers AKA Freddy/Spirit, if you were that good at the game you'd notice this is a waste of a perk slot and move on to something else, there's no point in your post.

Your same reasoning as always, second chances, except, most of the people who play solo need something to keep them alive from cheap killer strats and bad teammates overall, but of course, you killers don't have to worry about that.

I would rather face NOED killers than a Freddy. Freddy’s lunge is stupid long and deceiving, his dream snares can be infinitely spammed. There as good CC as clowns bottles which have a small number. His dream state is time consuming to get out of and he can teleport. I don’t play Freddy and I feel picking him is cheap plus he is massively unfun to play against. I don’t feel like he needs a nerf. I just feel like if you pick him you are being scummy. Devs don’t need to touch him and neither do gamers.

Did somebody say "200 years combined experience in video game development"? Because in steps Yone, you know yasuos brother with Yasuos passive, Q, Old evelynns ult on W, and zeds ult on his E. Whats his ult you ask? Well we watched a lot of anime and came up with a knock up aoe burst mix damage stun where Yone says "Nothing personal". Ressources? nah but he does do true damage as well as a mix of physical and magical

I vote this up just for it’s hilarious randomness.

  • It’s particularly bad for trapper. Who is already under powered.

  • As i recall it was only a few survivor mains crying for billy nerf. The complaint was getting one shotted in dead zones. I never saw the issue, they deserved it. Billy's chase music is awful the saw overpowers the Terror music until until he is right on top of you. I used to love a match versus billy now I hate it. I used to love playing as billy, now i hate it. Awesome change, needed and deserved. the aura rework is awful, absolutely awful. My gut feeling is that there was a problem on mobile and they "fixed" it across all platforms.

Behavior, as a studio, is incompetent and got lucky with one game being a massive hit because the concept was good. Even then the original game needed emergency fixes. They clearly dont test their game and aren't passionate about the game. They are like midas except instead of gold its feces. For the devs to stop getting trashed they need to bring the quality of their work up to about an 8. They are currently running at a 0.

  • i would like to see behavior sell the game to a studio that is competent,

  • and his terror music is awful. Its honestly more poweful than monitor and abuse. I imagine with monitor and abuse that the TR sound is like 0 meters.

  • I have had so much trouble finding traps. I also have problems playing survivor seeing hooked survivors. Not sure what drove the aura rework but yes, I don’t like it.

  • my video seems fine, my audio glitches very badly. i reinstalled game today and have been having issues with TR.

  • I'm probably behind on the news but are the killer rank resets gonna be changed in some way. I can't see any way to maintain ranks amongst all the different killers if the ranks reset every month

  • and today I've been disconnected like 5 times by EAC for missing files. I've had this problem several times in the past. Its just so annoying to lose your match progress from the same bug over and over and over.

  • I don’t understand why you used the word current. Matchmaking has always been terrible. I don’t think behavior is a studio capable of improving matchmaking.

  • North America 6-10 pm PC. I understand that is a very small market lol.

I haven't really played trapper but I've to admin he's one of the worst I've played. I don't want to play him ever again.

I had a daily telling me to trap 3 survivors. I'll never attempt it ever again. I will delete this daily every time because I will refuse to use the trapper every time. He's so weak and pathetic as a killer.

Traps are to easy to disarm as a survivor.

The traps shouldn't trap you as the killer.

The traps are to hard for me to spot because of how dark some of the maps are even when highlighted red.

Avoid the trapper at all costs to any player in this game.

Trapper needs a bag add on added to his base kit. It’s a rare game that I don’t trap 3 survivors in my traps. Traps shut down loops and makes chases go a lot better. Just the fear of a trap makes survivors come to you instead of a strong tile sometimes. He’s super fun to play but you can’t win early game and have to play around with trap placement. I think you may find him rewarding later on.

You believe what you want to and I'll believe what I want to. We don't have proof that it happened that way. Mine's is that it it could have been planned before hand. Then the other which is that it is not. After all that person we are talking about isn't in charge of game balance. They are in charge of a different department. Game balance is a team effort and it takes a while to implement. No matter how small a simple change can seem to be, it takes a while for them to change it.

It was pretty clearly a case of humiliating the game director. He was playing hag against a team of Koreans in front of an audience on stream and the bullied the ######### out of him mercilessly. You know the DBD standard and I believe he had just said flashlights were not OP. It’s online, I’ve seen it, but I don’t clearly remember nit picky details. He was definitely humilitated then the flashlight was balanced. It was smugly, French Canadianly clear that they hadn’t considered it. Original poster is 100% right and the studio’s hubris is a major reason why this game has imbalance from release. The core concept was good enough that the game is still alive but behavior is a one hit wonder and when thus game ends there will be some sad pandas at behavior.

  • @xWoods831 said:

Tbh you guys might be on PC so queue times are quicker for you but on xbox.... sometimes it takes more than 4 minutes to find a match just to end up having the killer leave when theres 4 seconds left to start the match.

Survivor queues suck everywhere. Because the game heavily favored survivors, so more than 80% want to play survivor, by a lot.

  • DS sells toxic nea, meg, feng, and yui skins. They’re not gonna nerf money.

  • @johnmwarner said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1132366#Comment_1132366

Here’s my counter argument, there are plenty of reasons killers want out of games early too. BNP causes three gen pops in a minute, naps that spawn with 3-4 crazy strong loops, etc but they have no “first hook death,” option they have to wait for the survivors to deem it time for the game to end.

Killers should have some sort of concede button as well Once 3-4 gens are done, then once 5 are done they have the door already.

The game is probably balanced okay for new players, its terribly unbalanced after that. I guess its kind of on all of us for tolerating the imbalance. The concede option used to be Leave Match so I don't understand either the ban or an option at some point in a match to leave the match without DCing and without the penalty. Also behavior would be adding something into the game and I fear that they would bug the ######### out of something and get around to fixing it on nevtember 20th.

My point was making super irritating add ons is reason enough to DC. I kind of blame the killer for running the annoying add ons, but ultimately its behavior's fault for releasing these add ons in the first place.

I guess they kind of thought that Iridescent King / Frank's Mixed Tape were psychological warfare tools. I wonder why they thought that making the user experience terrible was a good idea. And I would only say that for the developer that thought of it. The boss who was like "hmm super irritating add-ons, like psychological warfare, hmm I like it. Man I hope the killer doesn't run those add ons the one game I have to play per week, that would be annoying" should go back to waiting tables.

I frankly thought that DCing was fair play when versing a huntress who brought iridescent head and infantry belt and an ebony mori. If you want to spend 20k on consumables and have 3 or 4 DCs you bought a safety pip and 8000 points.

Like everyone else, I was in many games where 2 survivors DC'd with 5 gens left. At that point I didn't even try to win, just fast vault until the killer downs me and hooks me. If they killer decided to slug for the 4k (which is both pathetic and frequent) I'll just DC too. If I'm trying to get out of a spoiled match and I'm not gonna be slugged for 4 minutes.

  • There's a lot of people calling for it. Billy is at risk for getting nursed.

Console players would be at a disadvantage from your suggestion.

Although along with your idea, perhaps give survivors constant aura of other survivors and more emotes to communicate with. Solo survivors still won't be at SWF level, but it's closer. All killers can then be buffed slightly in return, meaning the balance between SWF and solo closes.

The only other way of significantly closing the gap IMO is to just allow voice chat for all survivors. Although, I wouldn't particularly want that.

I played COD on mic on console for quite a few years. I don't really think adding a comms system within the game would be difficult. I guess I didn't make myself clear in my post. I'm suggesting that the game, DBD, should offer the communications system. There is no reason you should have to run 3rd party software to communicate, it wouldn't even be hard to implement. even for behavior.

  • @Wylesong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1134020#Comment_1134020

Just asking because maybe I do not understand. Are you saying playing on mic with friends i no longer an advantage? I am just asking because I may be misunderstanding this.

The point I was making is that if all survivor teams had voice comms through the game (versus 3rd party software or cell phones) than SWF would not have an advantage over solo que survivors since everyone could be on a mic if they chose to. Then there wouldn't be such a huge disparity between SWF and solo que and the game would have more reliable balance point, provided the devs ever made an effort to balance the game.

What kind of games do you really want? a game that lasts more than 1 year or dies in a few months? Stop the murderers tunneling with 5 generators at once. It makes no sense this way of playing. the killer who goes for the weakest since the beginning of the match, it really makes no sense. A killer who doesn't let anyone play. It is disgusting and gives the game a bad name but it seems that you don't care. It is a multiplayer game, we all have the right to play and not die on the hook without doing anything. Seriously, this can't go on like this. This attitude kills the players. penalize players who do not let others play.

Play killer. You'll see real quick.

I mean, if those ranks are closer to his skill level, then yes. Matchmaking is a joke, so getting balanced games is a huge relief for most killers.

A rank 16 killer should not be able to depip against red rank survivors. Because a well designed game would prevent a bully match from penalizing the bullied player.

the obvious disclaimer is that I was speaking about what a well designed game would do.

  • I think they did a pretty good job so far on making the core challenges require no DLC content with additional branches for DLC content.

  • There are like 3 hag mains in total. I personally hate playing hag when I can’t see over the grass. Not corn, the grass. Annoying enough that I don’t need to play her anymore, like ever. Although any killer that counters looping is a good killer. Looping is broken strong on most maps.

  • Honestly the game should offer in game chat for the survivor team and balance the game around that. Survive with Friends is no longer a competitive advantage. Solo que can make some new friends, better in game experience and buff killer role / balance the maps. But every idea is not a good idea or feasible to implement

  • Don’t nerf Billy’s add ons. That was how the nurse nerf started and they turned her into French Canadian dog poo.

  • There are plenty of reasons to suicide on first hook. Legions super annoying add on (Frank’s mixed tape?), doctor’s iridescent king etc. I don’t enjoy being annoyed for entertainment. If behavior was a professional studio the boss would’ve told the developers they can’t introduce add ons that are super annoying with a nearly endless duration. But of course, behavior is not. They got lucky with one game and everything else they have done is hot garbage.
