Honestly if you're walking through an ethereal plane, you shouldn't be able to see blood or hear voices accurately. You're basically walking through another dimension. The concept is okay but it leaves survivors with no option.

What would be interesting would be a lag/stutter motion feature instead of completely disappearing. On the killer side, the effect is exactly the same, but on the survivor end, her character model stutters in and out of phase, like in those scary movies where the framerate is just a tad too low, adding this really creepy almost stop-motion effect to it. And the appeared model will be about a second behind, so survivors can see where she was but not where she is. This would effectively give some sort of counter to the gimmick as survivors can learn where they might be going(and the killer could mind-game them while in phase and keep them in close proximity), but right now it's just this "oh boy she's invisible and my scratch marks disappeared, she's just gotta pick a direc--oh look she followed my blood trail, yay I'm dead!"

If this were to happen, we would need some fairly crazy buffs to counter. Spirit is 110 percent speed killer when she isn't phasing. If you remove her 1 on 1 she'll be as weak as the clown.

  • Then have it so that BBQ only gives extra BP and lose aura reading. Just like WGLF if we're all is equal. And reduce killers BP earned just like how it is for survivor. If you want equality then let's do it.

  • The correct way to use oblivious is to break chase and then try to cut them off. It's really hard to do, but it can work.

  • If a survivor DC's the killer can open the end gates. It's already a mechanic in the game. It triggers end game collapse so survivors can't stick around. Accomplishes the goal and let's the killers show mercy without having to farm and it isn't a DC.

Here's my perspective on that part:

If billy is the gold standard. What the average killer should be and he is in the top 3 indicates MOST killers simply under-perform.

If the majority agrees that he is where the killers should be at and killers like the doctor are being brought up to try to make doctor Billy's equal then I think that with the anecdotal evidence shown by the devs its simply that most killer under perform.

Also from a 2/2 average KR have to be ABOVE 50%(You have to average 0k/4ks into it + depip/death squads almost always getting a 3-4 escape) but at or below 65%.

62.5% should be the sweet spot IMO 62.5 is evenly likely between 2/3k(which means skill dictates if 1k-3k as survivors who out skill a killer generally get a 3 escape) and given 0k/4k exist its the more realistic average %.

    Your entitlement is showing.

  • Killers are in a sad state right now. I think that the majority of killers have a game breaking bug that they're dealing with. Here's a partial list that's reposted from an earlier post in this thread.

All killers - survivors aren't making sounds

-Trapper: Invisble aura for near traps

-Wraith; Many problem with uncloaking by a pallet or a flashlight

    -Billy: Ghost chainsaw (rare)

-Nurse: Infinite blink sound and animation

-Myers: Stalk regression (Dedicated servers ?)

-Hag: Weird camera after teleportation (Dedicated servers ?)

-Clown: Bottles can collide wth invisble wall (rare but devastating for a poor trash-tier killer)

-Spirit: Sound problem (All killer suffer for this) + As a survivor i can hear her phasing sound in her terror radius.

-Plague: Vomit doesn't infect survivors sometimes (Dedicated servers ?)

-Ghotsface: Impossible/delay to lean (Dedicated servers ?)

    Generator grabs are bugged

  • Mettle of Man needs a buff for sure. Honestly I feel that 2 protection hits would be balanced.

Did you actually read what I said? I played EXTENSIVELY, I got the platinum trophy. I played both roles to almost every achievement and P3 lvl 50. I found survivor to be ungodly boring, I didnt expect to 4k every game either as killer but that was my far preferred role. I agree survivors being seen should t be an auto death sentence but theres no tension, no horror, no rewarding gameplay and little fun. I reallllly want DbD to succeed as theres nowhere else I can play as that cast of characters but in its current state its awful.

I stand by my suggestion. Don't come back.

  • BulletsNonStop is obviously a brown rank.

"Why should you be able to choose someone like Wraith who is invisible AND doesn’t give off a heartbeat?" - anyone above brown rank knows how to counter wraith and anyone that's played wraith knows how frustrating he can be to play with. Can you do well with wraith, yes. But why would you point out wraith out of the list of killers? Probably because he's used to playing with F2Ps who haven't purchased any DLCs (sounds like a rank 20 to me) "I’ve seen some pretty good wraiths. I think it’s just the fact that wraith has a tendency to get the jump on people too easy due to zero heartbeat and invisibility." No it just sounds like you're complete garbage dude.

"Like I’ve said before, killers shouldn’t feel entitled to get any kills during a match. I think it’s too easy. My friends have played killer and he says it’s too easy. I agree." - You had a friend who played killer. That's where your wisdom comes from?

"I think all killers definitely need their speed lowered a little." - What kind of suggestion is this. Yes let's reduce all killers speed to 105%, that would bring balance to the force.

Anyway, his opinion isn't even worth 2 cents

Is this a joke? Because this isn’t funny. Doctor isn’t op. Every chapter people say OH GF IS OP OH DEMO IS OP OH ONI IS OP. Well doctor is right in the middle he’s in a good spot. And if you think Demogorgon, NURSE and pig are the worst. You’re heavily mistaken. Nurse has been and always will be the best killer unless they can make a power that’s better than TELEPORTING THROUGH WALLS AND LOOPS. I rest my case with nurse. Demo and pig are right in the middle as well. Nurse wasn’t nerfed. Her add ons were but if you’re gonna judge a killer by add ons then clown should be at the top he has a great insta down add on just like huntress.

Did I say anything about anyone being OP. I was listing the top 5 killers. I feel like killers are all at a fairly similar power level. But there are differences between them and I was listing the current 5 strongest according to my experience.

Hi everyone. This is my first post here and Ive put a lot of thought into this. First off, I finally stopped playing just before the spirit rework and oni release (unrelated) as I was so sick of the game. I had previously played pretty obsessively over a 14 month period and I finally realised I played DbD in the hope it would become the game I wanted, not the game it actually was. I LOVE horror and Saw is my favourite series so to have Amanda (Although I wouldve much preffered Hoffman), Freddy Krueger, Ghostface, Leatherface, Myers and all their associated survivors in one game!? Holy hell! Imagine my dismay to find out they play like idiots. A 32 meter warning of most killers approach, swf communication, the killers getting smacked in the head with pallets every 2 minutes, losing their prey after missing a swing in long grass due to the graphics and fps (I played on ps4) and taking two hits to down a survivor each time, followed by 3 hooks total. Borrowed time, mettle of man, adrenaline and decisive strike all offering more insurance policies for survivors all whilst they play loop-de-loop around a fence for 3 minutes before the killer tamely whacks them, staring at a blade whilst they run away teabagging. Its not scary, you dont feel powerful, you feel like a clumsy bully in a playground no one likes more than a chilling hunter. I sound massively killer biased because I was. I played survivor and it bored me to tears. Hold R1 at a gen for 2 minutes, run away when killer gets near, make killer look like an idiot for a while l, get hooked, wait on a save, hope the killer is NICE and doesnt tunnel, wait to finish all gens, wait for the gate to open, wait for survivors to join at gate then wait 30 mins for a game. Waiting and hoping for a NICE killer. Jeez. Killer side: Please be 3 maps out of 20+ I can actually have fun on. Please dont let me rank up, please dont let it be swf, please dont have DS, please dont finish that gen before I reach it... you feel like a snivelling wimp.

my feedback for tl;dr is therefore: The game needs a thorough overhaul. Killers feel more like nuisances than hunters. Survivors spend most of the game waiting and both sides end up dissatisfied. I quit playing months ago and Id love to come back, but I cant justify doing so based on how objectively awful the game is. This is not meant to offend killers or survivors, its merely my observation but I know many players echo this sentiment. Thanks so much for readibg my feedback if you lasted this far down :)

I think it's good that you left. Other players don't exist for your enjoyment. If you want to feel powerful then you need to play well. The game shouldn't hand you wins. You didn't even try to play both sides and you expect to be an amazing killer. If you can't get chased you definitely can't chase. Go play one of the million single player games that makes you a god immediately, that seems like something you would enjoy.

  • Strongest (top 5, strongest to weakest) Freddy, Hag, Billy, Doctor, Ghostface

Weakest (bottom 5, weakest to strongest)-> Clown, Demogorgon, Nurse, Legion, Pig

  • @Regionlock said:

Survivors are only OP versus killers with a SWF or a super efficient red rank team on a survivor favored map. Killer is not a suppressed role like people make it out to be. My solo queue survivor matches at red ranks on PC can testify to that. It's like a 80 percent favored to killers at rank 1 atm because matchmaking is so bad.

Exactly this. Against Solo Queue Killers are stronger than survivors. A group of friends who aren't the same rank is also favored for the killer. A SWF group of similar ranks will generally win vs a killer of the same rank. And there's quite a bit of smurfing going on in this game, but that's not a balance issue but it does lead to a bit of confusion regarding balance.

Well, I also found these patch notes from the mid-chapter update after her release https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/25535/patch-notes-2-3-0-mid-chapter where again it mentions her Terror Radius:

"The Spirit's phasing audio has been adjusted: Survivors within the Spirit Husk's terror radius will not hear the phasing sound. Survivors outside the Spirit Husk's terror radius can hear the Spirit's phasing sound, but will not be able to determine its direction. Survivors will no longer be able to hear the Spirit's breathing while she is phasing."

That's from October 2018 vs the PTB's "changes to the Spirit" post from August 2018 that I linked to previously.

Yes, I would really like a clarification from the developers.

Is there a way to get the developers to address this issue?

Here https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/16750/changes-to-the-spirit/p1 it says that the survivor will not hear her Spirit Sound while in her Terror Radius. It's the last point in the list.

That's what I found. Are the patch notes about the 8 meters thing more recent?

I believe so, the patch notes are from her release. While I believe your post is at the end pf the PTB. But this is interesting. I'd love to get some clarification from the developers.

Then someone needs to update the wiki:

    https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Rin_Yamaoka

"Survivors within the Terror Radius of the Husk will not hear the phasing sound. Survivors outside of that range will hear the sound, but will be unable to determine its direction."

Edit: And it did previously say the 8 meters thing. https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Rin_Yamaoka&diff=61135&oldid=61134 It may have changed, they may have gotten updated info, I dunno, I don't see a source for it.

I couldn't find any patch notes stating that they changed it from 8 meters. The testing that I did with a friend makes it seem like it is 8 meters as of right now. It might be a bit more than 8 meters but it's definitely not the full terror radius.

  • @Deadeye said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1039991#Comment_1039991

Thats a thing like for always. I never really understood why people always said TR and wooshing sound is related. I tested it maybe over half a year agon in KYF and when standing at the edge of TR you can hear the sound already. And it didn't seem to be related at all to TR as Distressing etc didn't change it. Where do you guys get that info from?

You're 100 percent right. I went through the patch notes for spirit. The whoosing noise is not based off of the terror radius. It's 8 meters from her husk. I had no idea, but it makes so much sense.

  • It's so inconsistent too. I can't seem to pinpoint what's causing it. But I do know that sound bugs are more common when I play spirit than when I play other killers.

On a somewhat related sound bug note. The phasing whoosh noise can be heard while in the spirits terror radius.

  • I think it would be a change, not so much a buff. But she would be easier to play, Increase the skill floor and reduce the skill ceiling.

  • No, nerfing things is generally healthier than buffing things for a games overall health. Especially when there are modular interactive components. The reason for this is that anytime you add a new component there are going to be synergies with existing modular components. If you try to balance by simply buffing everything than each new addition has the potential to be game breaking. Where if things are fairly normalized, then even when there are synergies, those will be strong but not overpowered.

Now you bring up, bringing back 5 blink nurse and so let's talk about nurse a bit. Nurse is a character that ignores structures like windows and pallets. And 5 blink nurse could ignore them 5 times in a row. Nurse is a poorly designed character that only is "balanced" if you nerf her so badly that only the people who mastered her can play her. Does that stop her from breaking the game, not really but what it does is reduce the number of people that can play with her. Nurse requires a full rework. I personally think that Nurse would be way more fun as a 110 percent speed killer with 1 blink and increased range and remove the exhaustion and change the recharge to 5 seconds as base would be an interesting direction to move her. She'd be much easier to play but it would change her blink from an offensive tool to a mobility based tool and to help her against some loops.

  • @Peanits Please pass along this bug, it's a major problem right now and it's been an issue for as long as I can remember and I haven't seen anyone from BHVR acknowledge that this is a problem.

  • I've brought this up as a bug in the bug section in the forums, but the developers don't even acknowledge that it was a bug. So I want a developer to come in and tell me when the phasing sound should and shouldn't be heard. Is it based off the terror radius? Is it based off of something else?

  • @FleshTorpedo said:

You all keep complaining about BT in dreamworld, when OoO works from 0m on Freddy, which the devs have stated as intended. Now thats some bullshit.

They actually share the same root cause, and that's the abilities are tied to the terror radius.

  • You're a brand new killer. It's going to take a bit of time for you to do well. When I was first getting into killer, I'd measure how well I did not by the number of deaths but the number of hooks. If I got 2 hooks this game, my next game I was going to get 3 hooks or more. Eventually you'll improve and get kills too.

I actually did bring something to this discussion. I suggested ways to adapt. You're the one who doesn't add anything to this discussion. So MR NOOB maybe you should get off the forums and boot up DBD so that you too can Get Gud.

Lol people saying git gud when they have nothing of value to say. Seriously if you don't like these kind of posts why get involved with them.

My advice is actually quite relevant here. The problem is not the game, the problem is that you've become reliant on one perk and haven't learned how to play the game without it. So start experimenting, Try different perks out that you haven't tried before. My current build doesn't even use any slow down perks. And you know what, My rank has improved. I'm killing more people without having to rely on slow down perks.

So instead of wasting your time on the forums, GIT GUD

I've got some advice for you.

  • Is it just me or do you move faster when travelling to a hook. But it feels like survivors also get off faster now. I don't know if this is related or just me, but I thought I'd add it.

Coming from someone who loves to play fair and fun, switching between people giving the unhook guy a chance to recover, etc. I have been playing a lot more dirty after the ruin changes. I don't and have never needed Ruin to 4k and I still 4k consistently after the nerf, however I have to play a lot more like a jerk in order to keep enough pressure to stop gens from flying. I tunnel and slug very often now, which I dislike but I really feel forced if I want to win.

The fact that you were playing nice tells me that ruin, while active was incredibly powerful and needed the nerf. If the balance between killer and survivor is at a good spot you shouldn't need to handicap yourself by "playing nice".

Killers were playing nice because 1, they could and still win games 2. because they know how much it sucks to get tunneled, camped, or slugged.

But now playing nice is no longer viable. So what does this mean, maybe DBD does have an underlying problem where the game encourages killers to use tactics that are unfair. If that's the case it should become more obvious and just like ruin, maybe a core change is needed. And there's no doubt in my mind that killers are put into a situation where they cannot do well without specific perks. Maybe that needs to be looked into as well.

  • @wisdomwielder said:

    Tunneling.

The sooner I can get at least one of you guys out of the game, the sooner that gen speeds drop by 25%. With ruin, I was able to be a little bit more lenient when chasing survivors. In the past, if I had a choice between two survivors I would usually go for the one with zero hooks or who was uninjured. Genrushing was already an issue before this patch, but without ruin, it's just exacerbated it amazingly and forcing me to play dirty or like an ######### if I don't want my games to end in 4 minutes. Best I can probably do is simultaneously tunnel two people, but no guarantees, especially when it comes to toolbox squads or swf.

    Tunneling it is.

Are you saying that you weren't playing optimally as killer because you felt that killer was easy enough without using every advantage?

So either, Killer was overpowered before and you were playing nice or tunneling isn't a viable strategy, which is it?

  • Here's a thought, maybe the doctor takes more than a couple hours to learn. hmmm. I'm going to have to say GIT GUD.

  • I get this error every update. Here's how to fix. in steam right click on dead by daylight, go to the local files tab, then verify the integrity of game files. You'll be told that some of the files need to be reinstalled, but it'll work after that.

  • A very well thought out post. It will be interesting to see how the developers choose to change billy.

  • Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, Camaradarie, Unbreakable, Tenacity.

Each of these perks is useful if you're being tunneled, face camped, or slugged.

None of these are a 100 percent counter, but they definitely help.

  • @Endstille said:

You literally forgot to add, has to be red rank killer so not all matches go against complete potatoes and maybe there are some good survivors.

Does balance only exist in the red ranks?

  • Even if I did show you "my matches". Would you actually take that as proof. Would you be like darn I was wrong. Billy does need to be fixed? You'll just move the goal posts, you'll say that I wasn't that good or that I was playing against weak survivors or that it only counts if they don't suicide on hook or whatever BS you feel like feeding me. I wouldn't waste my time trying to appease you and no one else should either. You're nothing more than a troll.

Even after she is fixed she's a shadow of her previous abilities. She's no longer the powerhouse she was. Please BHVR leave her alone.

    That would be cool actually

Perhaps each tier reduces the amount of time you wait before another blip shows up?

Position reveals are done through sound notifications and there's already enough sound notification spam in this game. But I like your reasoning, just not your solution.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Well lets establish the problems with it firstly...

    1) - Gives 3 SWF players information on the killer all game with none of the downsides of running the perks themselves.

    2) Used constantly to t-bag and taunt the killer just to try and ruin the game for them.

In regards to point 1, the answer would be to stop it from being active at any point in the game. Maybe only for x seconds after an unhook or gen is completed etc something to take away the 24/7 aspect of the perk.

In regards to point 2 it needs a downside. Although the killer can see the survivors aura lets be honest this perk massively favours the survivor as they get a heads up on when to run to a loop. So an added downside would help.

What if it was alternating in some way? so at some point only the survivor can see the killers aura, and at some points only the killer can see the survivors aura?

Object of Obession's downside is that the survivor is revealed to the killer. If it weren't for SWFs the perk would be balanced. However, due to SWFs it's not a great perk. In my suggestion rather than try to "fix" the problem with SWFs I made it an attribute of the perk to show the killers location to all survivors (within the terror radius). This way the value of the perk is about the same if used by a SWF vs used solo. And I added an activation cost making it so that the perk can only work if you've met the activation cost. Now the cost that I chose was being within the terror radius of the killer for 1 minute. I feel that this protects stealth killers from the perk as it is difficult to get within the terror radius of a stealth killer while not in a chase. And vice versa against someone like The Oni, it would be a high risk but high reward for being within the terror radius.

    What this does.

    1. It makes it so that you have to earn the effect of object of obsession
    2. Object of Obsession is good for SWFs while being bad in solo play. This makes it so that the benefit is the same for SWFs and Solo
    3. Just like the current object of obsession the purpose of the perk is to draw the attention away from your team mates to yourself. This is why I've given team mates the tools to loop killers better while the affect is active.

So far I'm the only one who's made a rework of the perk. Anyone want to provide feedback on this change. Do you think it would be better or worse than the current Object of Obsession?

Damn bro that is quite the post!

Just to play the other side. Survivors dont pip and often lose a pip when they are camped and tunneled right out of the game.

Also I dont know how much more tunneling and camping can increase. I played a bunch last night and all we had were tunneling camping noeders . Like are the killers just done trying?

What happened to pride in finding survivors, winning chases, pressuring gennys?

Many players are testing the waters of a ruinless world. That means they are trying to find out what works and what doesn't. Ruin allowed a killer to hook someone try to save a generator and get into another chase leaving the survivor open for an unhook. However with ruin gone killers have to rebuild their builds and are moving to perks that are powerful but that encourage what many survivors consider to be toxic. Perks like "Make you Choice", "NOED", Thanna + Sloppy. And the gap between the strongest killers and the weakest killers have widened. Killers without mobility like trapper, michael myers, doctor, huntress, and clown are punished more heavily for the change to ruin.

I think that the change to ruin was needed because it is just a bandaid that was covering a gaping hole in DBD. Ruin helped to prevent the survivors from snow-balling. Most games it allowed the killer to get 1 hook and protect 1 generator before it was found. So a game with ruin would be 4 gens + 1 hook + 1 chase + 1 regressing gen. A game without ruin is often 1 hook + 3 gens + 1 chase + 0 regressing gens.

What this means is that killers are more reliant on snow balling to get wins. That's more slugging, more camping hooks, more tunneling. The highest rank survivors can handle these tactics and are easily going to win, however, these tactics still work very well up to purple ranks.

  • What makes Billy powerful is not his insta-downs. (That's just the cherry on top) What makes him powerful is the pressure that he has by being able to get across the map with his chainsaw. If Billy didn't have insta-downs he would still be better than half the killers in dead by daylight just because of the ability to apply pressure throughout the map.

  • Freddy just has so much in his kit. Probably the most annoying part is that the timer to get into the dream is so frequent that you're always asleep. Even if you do manage to wake yourself up with the clock and have the extended awake time, if freddy hits you you're immediately asleep again.

We're talking about a killer that has everything handed to him on a silver platter. If you can't win as freddy, you can't win with any killer.

That's not the point. Old ruin slowed gen progression. The new one arguably does not because it can be ignored and it's still a hex perk. Name a killer other than nurse, spirit, and Billy that is able to apply pressure quickly from the start of the match.

What's wrong with mentioning those killers? You just listed 3 killers that have good synergy with the perk.

In addition to the ones listed,

    1. doctor : you can use madness to pressure off of generators.
    2. bubba: you can slug survivors to force survivors through altruism off of generators
    3. freddy: you can use his ability of teleporting/faking teleportation to get survivors off of generators. Thrilling tremors, ruin, surveillance, pop goes the weasel is a god tier build where you can force survivors off of generator by faking a teleport then blocking it with thrilling tremor and while it's blocked it will be regressing and if ruin is broken then you can use pop to get that pressure you need.
    4. Legion: can apply deep wound to survivors forcing them off of generators. Let's not forget Iridescent Button which will push survivors off generators every time feral frenzy is applied to any killer.
    5. Pig: any survivor with a head trap on cannot work gens. And it counters a common swf tactic to hold off on popping a generator to allow a survivor to get the headtrap off and working another nearby generator.
    6. Wraith: when using the boneclapper add-on will make survivors paranoid everytime it's activated. Wraiths often spam bell to pressure survivors already. That tactic works even better now.

New Ruin's power is comparable to most perks in the game, however, it's not comparable to old Ruin a perk used in 80 percent of red rank games. But is it a surprise that the rework isn't as powerful as old ruin. If you feel that old ruin is needed for balance then stop complaining about ruin and start talking about base kit changes to killer.

  • Don't just put in the new ruin in the same builds as old ruin. New ruin is a situational perk that you would use with synergy with other perks or the killers built in abilities.
