agreed. dead by daylight is not even a real horror game anyways. yes it's marketed as a horror game, and has characteristics of horror games, but any teenager or above who plays 0 to 2 matches shouldn't be genuinely scared by 99% of the content. +1
The latest RE update pivoted even harder away from their supposed "horror" aesthetic, despite them really desperately trying to be like "yeah it's scary" with Dredge.
This isn't a horror game and even if it was,the ######### flickering lights are not intrensical or are even cared for by most players.

I don't think we need seizure strobe lights.
Some atmospheric slow flickering is cool and fine but nobody needs the super fast strobing
exactly,there can be atmosphere without seizures!

Well don't hold your breath. It wouldn’t be the first time and it certainly won't be the last time video game devs slap the epilepsy/seizure/photosensitivity warning and call it a day. Even though most of these issues could be handled they probably won't be at all or any time soon.
Not holding my breath whatsoever,this is BHVR. I'm here to bring attention to this and tell BHVR that this needs to be addressed yesterday.

Hey guys just had a game where it had the white& yellow bars above the surv names in match. Is that server lag?
it's the new ugly notification for you ping to the server being too high
remember when they say 150ms ping is "pretty fast"?

The more replies I read to this post the deeper my hope for humanity goes into the negatives.

I'm all for options, but not flat out removing effects. Warnings, with options.
I don't want them removed for the most part,a lot of them just need to be fixed and toned down. You can do flickering lights without giving people seizures and not compromising your "horror".
Despite this game not being one since 2016
-
The amount of people seemingly missing the amount of this stuff that is bugged and just plain needs fixing is fascinating.
I'm also extremely disappointed in how careless y'all are. How's a photosensitivity mode affect your PRIME HORROR EXPERIENCE OF WATCHING AN EDGY COMIC BOOK VILLAIN SLAM STEVE HARRINGTON INTO ADAWONG?
God if the thing that keeps you playing DBD is a flickering ######### light,you need to grow the hell up.

You know this is a horror game and light flickering is part of it, right?
I dont think the disco rave flickering is required. Plus I really would like to see you argue how integral to keeping DBD scary a flickering light is when we have Wesker and Trickster in the game.

The entire argument was based on a killer using the perk on a specific set of maps. I would've assumed that since it's ok to make one silly argument, it's also okay to make the same type of argument since that's what the post basically is anyways.
There are tons of rather small maps in the game or maps with multiple floors that coulro + distressing will be effective. Heck,even on the bigger maps it'll still cover half the map at most times.
-
I'd rather not have a seizure,thanks.

I can agree with more options for controlling the audio/visuals in the lobby. Some of the ambient noises and repetitive voice lines get annoying. I imagine spending bloodpoints on Sadako is such a joy with her giving you the creepy eye every thirty seconds.
In game though, they have to stay. Being able to remove them would make it easier to hear that creeping Jake with his Iron Will nerfed.
Or we can just revert IW ;)
get rid of the VL
-
knew this was a karu thread,haha.
if previously I didn't really agree,with them adding voicelines to every ######### character now making the game...just a weird annoying clusterf*ck for no reason they should give us the option to remove it.

It's basically as if every survivor was broken permanently. Sounds overpowered doesn't it? That's basically what coulrophobia can do.
Plague exists
Imho that's a really bad argument. Saying a perk is not problematic because an entire killer power can do that is very silly.

I don't necessarily think it's 25%, just a lot closer to that than <5%, for sure.
For a while I've been incredulous toward the notion that there's a narrow band of ultra high MMR players who only match with each other. And while I do think you clearly feel it when you pass the soft cap, I have been increasingly of the opinion that pool is deeper than it was even a couple of months ago.
I can't say for sure obviously, but I don't think whatever system was settled on after those tests is entirely in place anymore.
Also, I definitely feel that the matchmaking under the old rank system was definitely much looser than whatever SBMM was for a long while, and to me it feels closer to the rank system now than it did for the first 6 months or so of SBMM.
The issue is that the changes they introduced were kind of a band-aid imho. They were bound to worsen very soon.

Karma for clicking at the killer, you got what you deserved kappa
It's weird I've seen this a few times today, It def wasn't happening pre-hotfix but was this also a thing on PTB? It must have been right? It could just be a latency issue but it also seems like the survivor gets sucked/vaccumed into the bound itself. A hatchet would have probably hit you there though, as would a Deathslinger chain but this just looks horrible from surv POV.
BTW It also looks like this on Killer POV, I saw it happen like three times on Otz's stream today where he'd 'miss' but the survivor would get vaccumed into the bound, it may be worth inquiring if this is a bug or something
This really was not a thing on the PTB in my experience. It became super common on live and worse with the hotfix.
Also the amount of people who don't understand I just want to get the killer to slip into the hole is hilarious.
-
@Crowman said:
Honestly this doesn't really look that absurd. There's most certainly a slight latency hit here where the server thought you were a little bit back and considered the hit fair.
But you know if you hadn't walked for as long as you did so you could get those 2 flashlight clicks in, you could have sprint bursted earlier and likely avoided this situation.
My goal was to get a hole,I wasn't interested in getting the absolute max potential distances in existence.
-
@SuzuKR said:
The survivor hitbox is a pill shape located partially behind the visual model. Add in some latency and this is working as expected. If the environmental hitbox was larger, he would hit the wall while going parallel to it which would make zero sense.
Maybe then it shouldn't be behind the survivor model then? ;)
-
@CookieBaws said:
It's was just latency, don't be dramatic. You would get hit by a hatchet too.
No I wouldn't
-
It should be put down to 25 imo.
-
@Hex_Ignored said:
Sounds like either you or the killer have some latency issues
I literally dont have these issues with any other Killer that's the thing. Plus I also despise his 8% hindered,which is just peak unfun design.
-
@Peanits said:
It's now 30cm- right in the middle of the PTB (40cm) and release (20cm). His detection for obstacles will remain at 20cm, so this won't cause him to bump into things more than before.
You're setting a precedent now where Killer hitboxes differ for survivors and objects - I dunno if this a good idea.

Now seriously I'm just trying to be constructive
I think BBQ would actually combat camping a tad,imo! Give the killer more targets in the distance,far away from a hook.

I'm not sure.
I have seen reports from several people over the duration of this thread claiming that Ultra actually runs better for them than anything else.
Certainly, Ultra would be devastating to the Xbox One and PS4, especially on the newer maps.
The issue is that it's so very hard to tell what would happen. By all accounts, the Xbox One S and the PS4 Pro should be able to do just fine, graphics-wise. The bottlenecking of the CPU appears to be the issue and why DBD suffers from this so intensely, I do not know.
Clearly though something is fundamentally wrong with the Optimization, there are performance issues people have reported with PC set-ups that cost more than my car. That really shouldn't be happening with a game as intense as DBD. There is no sprawling map, there are no abundant particle effects, there aren't dozens of players and yet, the game still runs worse than BF2042 (huge maps, abundant particles, dynamic weather, 64 players) on the Xbox One.
It's not surprising CPU is an issue. DBD's codebase is obviously terrible.
If you build your codebase around a base made on the UE4's equivalent of Scratch - your game will run like hot garbage. DBD is the example of what not to do in software development - it's technical debt at it's peak.
-
think I'm gonna remember this for the next few hundred hours at the least. I'm addicted to this rare dopamine rush dammit!

I haven't noticed any significant downgrades, though, I haven't been looking for them either.
I would say that it does run worse than the original.
if you play on Xbox,maybe not,but as someone who plays on Ultra,it looks much worse.

RPD is starting to cause some fairly sizable issues for me on my Xbox Series X.
It seems to occur most often near the Helicopter Crash and in the back rooms near the whiteboard room and dark room.
I haven't noticed any freezing, but my frames will go from near 60 to near 25-30 when I get near the aforementioned areas.
I have noticed this same phenomenon on Haddonfield and Garden of Joy as well.
One of these days I am going to fix my old Xbox One and actually record some new clips, but until then, feel free to keep posting any that you have.
Thank you.
I noticed that the new RPD looks worse graphically and somehow runs worse. It's impressive...

In my humble opinion - no. If a Killer is played very little,that points to an issue in their design. It needs to be addressed.

2ks are rare, because yeah, this game is snowbally.
That said - I see. You're a camper.
Yes, camping is too effective a strategy. This will hopefully be fixed eventually, but:
- Camping is not a Dead Hard issue
- Camping being too effective doesn't mean that 'BHVR loves killers' or holds their hand or whatever.
Also - Cyberbullying.
Are you actually serious?
Being cheesy in a game is not in any way comparable to something that literally had a bodycount IRL. What...is wrong with you?
The last part is a bit of joke,you're taking this game too seriously. And no I dont think camping is the core issue - (I personally find that tunneling is far more effective) - I feel like my chases are kind of really easy at the start and I only ever feel threatened if survivors have a perfect spawn with good toolboxes on a good map. Hence my suggestion for DH.
