P.S. I am not just going off "me being tunneled". I don't care about DS anymore as Killer. If I'm playing to win I just hit through BT instantly and kill the survivor moments later and when I get hit by DS once per year 6 seconds later I'm back on the survivor and kill them.
-
OTR is only good when you're either getting away to a lot of safe tiles while you don't have DH and haven't been hit through BT.
Or when you're playing in SWF and can coordinate that endurance extremely well. OTR is a garbage antit tunnel perk. If the killer is tunneling you it does nothing but give you iron will for a bit.
DS being gone, tunneling is encouraged more than ever. Slapping through BT is also more effective now as you gain much less distance on hit, especially with STBFL.
OTR was good on the PTB. Post PTB it's a very niche perk that no one is really scared of even if they're the biggest tunneler EU/NA.

People don't give BHVR enough of a hard time. This isn't an impossible arms race. You know why you can get held hostage? Because BHVR doesn't offload the game logic onto servers and still pretty much does everything on the client same way they did as a peer to peer game in 2016.
It's why you won't see fly hacking or speed hacking in CS:GO. It's not the anticheat, please stop.

I think there is a lot simpler explanation:
1: I've never heard of anyone seeing bonuses on both survivor and killer, so they just go to what the most needed pref is.
2: For killers, yeah they probably either average or look at what you have recently been playing. Does that mean you could see a boost and then play a killer in an MMR and still have a wait? Yeah, but I'm not sure how they'd do anything different.
3: Given your situation, high MMR for killer, low for survivors: the most obvious explanation is that low MMR is always in desperate need of survivors and that's going to override the killer no matter the situation.
-
As for a couple of other points
As for getting a reply, I don't think the person who does the MMR is on the forums. I've seen posts from BHVR staff about having to talk to the guy who does it to get an answer.
My killers have wildly varying MMRs between those who are meme builds only and win-streak builds only though. That's the thing that's most weird for me
-
BHVR can we please get a comment on all points made here at some point?

imo getting just mori'd in place will never cease to be funny even if it's at 5 gens

The solution of only play good killers is not acceptable.
then please,go tell BHVR to buff the bad killers.
overall honestly,if you're playing trapper which is honestly the equivalent of playing perkless as survivor, you shouldnt expect to win every match of yours - you're bringing one of the weakest killers, why do you expect to win against opponents without the weakest loadouts?

The most frustrating part to me is how the basekit changes went. I've been a killer main for 5 years and the most needed change was to make your basekit kick and gen regression better. This way, someone using a full gen loadout isn't any stronger, but a killer using nothing was atleast more viable. It would've opened some ACTUAL meta shift because I could bring more fun-intended chase perks or goofy perks without feeling like I was going to lose without bringing that top stuff. Now, a nurse running a super oppressive build is even easier. That should have never been a thing.
Maps, perks, and SINGULAR killers were the biggest issue. Again, I'm not against all the basekit killer changes. Things like the kicking and recovery buff were good, because they mainly only help the weaker killers and not the top dogs anyways. However, the 10 extra seconds on gens was the overkill, and so was making gen builds even more oppressive.
At this point, I think the next step that needs to be taken is normalizing gen times. Start removing or reworking things that make gens faster or slower, and start toning down gen regression perks as well.
They've made too many changes to basekit DBD in 6.1.0 when they really should've addressed more individual issues.
Personally I don't mind the 90 second gens too much,I just don't like how oppressive the cooldown is on Killers with Mobility or Ranged attacks, especially with STBFL.

As long as you're alive as a Survivor, you're a threat to me as a Killer. Why wouldn't I try to get you out of the game early? Would you do gens slower for me as a Killer to help me keep up if I wasn't doing so well???? Why would I respect your "don't tunnel please" if I get literally nothing out of it.
how is a survivor with DS up (which means they're not doing the objective) a threat to you?
also i dont care if you respect it. if you tunnel and get hit by DS that's your skill issue

How is it affecting you if you're not tunneling 15 seconds post unhook please do tell me? Either the survivor does nothing and hides or they have no DS. Why are you whining so hard about killing tunneling?

That DS buff is wayyyy too much. DS TWICE in a ROW?? Are you crazy? Buffs shouldn't be given to previously meta perks, what should really happen is a buff to basekit and a speed boost when using DS. Stunning the Killer more often for longer in more situations is really bad design, and two chances to hold your DS is just stupid.
• Nerf the dying speed when a Killer is 16 meters to a hook by 100% (120 seconds per hook stage, meaning Survivors could do over 2 gens before going for the rescue.)
• Nerf Nurse I like, nerf Blight's entire purple+ addon set. Nerf Leatherface's chainsaw around a hooked person to only damage for one health state near a hook in this range, meaning trades could happen without it being a complete loss for the healthy rescuer. Maybe even make Leatherface instantly tantrum when someone gets unhooked near him, which would be lore accurate with the movies.,
• Make Basekit BT last 30 seconds, and 10 seconds after being unhooked make the Survivor have no collision and hitbox with the Killer. This would discourage tunneling because Survivors wouldn't be able to weaponize their Endurance status effect after being unhooked, and anti-tunneling mechanics shouldn't be able to be used as a mechanic to also weaken the Killer entirely throughout the course of the whole game and weaponized to bodyblock for the rescuer of the unhooked Survivor.
• Remove unhook healthy grabs from the game, gen and chest opening healthy grabs are fine.
• I don't like the chase nerfs, considering most Survivors use Prove Thyself I don't think this is some crazy necessary addition, but I would adjust weapon cleaning animations per Killer. Like Nurse could have a 3.5 second cleaning animation, but then Killers like Freddy and Sadako keep their 2.7 second cleaning animation and same with speed bursts.
I mean.. what's the issue with DS though? In it's current design the survivor either uses it when tunneled..or wastes their time doing nothing in the killer's face.

As I've posted several times before, solo queue can be immensely frustrating. But not generally because of killers. When my squad gets wiped it's because my squad doesn't know how to actually play the game.
And FYI I've been playing lots of survivor this evening. I just had 3 teammates downed by a non-hatchet throwing huntress. Within 50 seconds.
No she did not have the iri add-on.
Meanwhile my killer MMR means I'm pitted against survivors who really know what they're doing, and who most certainly do not need a buff.
Yes, solo queue is a cluster####, but nerfing killers again isn't the answer. Do we really want to bring back the days of deranking, smurfing and hardcore invincible swfs absolutely dominating the higher ranks?
Is it so outrageous to suggest survivors learn they need to do gens to escape and that running headlong at the killer might be a bad idea?
Maybe save people before they go into second stage on first hook? Don't DC on first down?
What sort of changes can the devs even make to give those survivors a chance beyond gimping killers into utter uselessness?
but nerfing killers again isn't the answer
this thread doesn't really suggest a killer nerf though, does it now. it's just a different killer buff.

No they say Power Role because this is a Asymmetrical Game. In all Asymmetrical I have played the 1 is always the power role while the many are weaker as individuals but equal the power role together.
Best view of this is the game Evolve, the Monster player is a all powerful monster who has the advantage of starting before the hunters spawn to gain power fast. I'm that game it can get very one sided for the Monster if the Hunters don't work together as a team but if they have good teamwork then it's not so one sided and the Hunters could begin to tip the scales.
I have seen arguments where people say make Survivors as strong as the Killers or make the Killer the same power level as Survivors. In both those scenarios it can't happen because the Killer would be up against 4 players of equal power as them.
"best view of this is the most unbalanced asym in the history of asyms"
yeah alright, was nice talking to you buddy.

I don't know where to begin. You think Wraith and Freddy can beat survivors, even under the best circumstances, that Nurse and Blight would lose to? Forget it. And you only go for 12 hooks and are 'confident' at killer? Sure you are. My point still stands that survivors' mistakes and misplays boosts the kills the killer gets, not killer being like "imma camp here" and suddenly they get 2 more kills just like that. You even admit that it's hard for killer to go for 12 hooks, which is entirely contradictory to what you said at the beginning, so I really don't know what your stance is. Is killer easy or is it hard? It can't be both.
A common theme I keep seeing with y'all is that you're survivor-centric in your thinking, in all the wrong ways. "Survivors can't do much against X strategy." Yes they can. "X shouldn't exist because it ruins the game for the survivors." By 'ruin' you mean make it harder to win. Survivors don't have to put in much work to get good results consistently. Killers have to put in tons of work and get failure consistently.
Yeah it's not camping, It's tunneling. Lol.

Beautifully said. I dont think I can word it any better than you.
All I can add is that No Role Should Be Stressful. Not killer, not survivor, because video games are meant to be for fun and relaxation. We have plenty of stress in the real world and stress would kill this game.
The 1 part of a 1v4 will always be stressful. You gotta juggle more things. There's nothing that can really be done for it without making it wildly favored to the 1 side.

Probably for the same reasons that Mandy gave when when responding to a Nerf Nurse thread. It would take ALOT of time to figure out New Powers for said Killers and the time to test them out and then fix any bugs issues and rework the numbers to buff or nerf them would take a considerable amount of time that would be better vested elsewhere. That's why they twerk the numbers
So instead of taking time and implementing really good changes we should..take less time and implement bad changes?

Every buff to solos, is also a buff to SWF.
While the kill rates might look decent, you have to consider that low rank survivors have a abysmal low escape rate. Partly, because new survivors don´t know what to do. The tutorial is a good start, but we need the bot mode to be able to train as/against every single killer with a choice of addons and ingame hints on what is happening now.
Please explain to me how giving location information to solo queue players a buff to SWF,who already have that on comms. How?
-
@WesCravenFan said:

A good point has been brought up in a recent thread of mine - I'm curious to see the impact of all the "hide inside the killer's butthole with self-care and no mither for 120 second" challenges on the kill/escape rates.

It's not that simple M1 Killers like Trapper can't be brought up to those levels because it's not possible. His Kit and some others are not made to become tuned up like that without some major reworks to the Kit itself.
Well..why not rework them?

Oh i agree that the 6.1.0 patch was suboptimal. On one hand, gen times were increased. While on the other, all meta slowdown perks were nerfed hard. This in contribution with the buff to gen repair perks resulted in gens getting done even faster by high skill survivors, while also hurting low skill survivors, that can´t complete their objective.
But that doesn´t mean that killer should be more stressful. First of all, survivor has been always a walk in the park. Even solo. Simply, because doing gens or totems isn´t stressful at all. Sure, there are tight chases that can be stressful, but those usually get interrupted by calm moments. Because, as i said. The killer carries the whole match on his shoulders, while survivors distribute the workload.
Also, nerfing Nurse is a double edged sword. Since she has the lowest kill rate of all killers. Sure, high skilled nurses are very strong, but so are high skilled SWF squads. Which have a 15% higher escape rate. If you nerf one, you would also have to nerf the other. But how do you nerf SWF without nerfing solos or punishing people for playing with their friends?
You dont nerf SWF. You buff Killers once solo queue is brought up to the baseline. Simple as that.
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3192610#Comment_3192610
That you want to make it harder for killers. The "arguments" you used to justify it, like players capitalizing on errors or making mistakes, could also be applied to survivors making mistakes.
Even more with challenges. Where every solo survivor has a different objective, that might be totally counterproductive. Or do you think that a survivor that has to spend 120 seconds next to the killer, without getting caught. Or using SC and escaping, or escape through the hatch contribute to the overall teamplay? Challenges is what sabotages teamplay. Salty players, that suicide/dc is what sabotages teamplay. That doesn´t mean that killer has to become harder.
I think you just read the thread title and didnt read into it much further.
The thread goes into how 6.1.0 was a bad solution to Killer pain points and overly buffs some Killers and is too bad on solo queue.
I instead suggested different Killer Buffs/Survivor nerfs that in my opinion would be more healthy.

As nice as the basekit BT is and it's buff I can't help but to hate the fact that everyone just wants more perks to be basekit for their respective roles because it'll only just turn into an arms race between survivors and killers to see who gets their favourite meta perk to be basekit and then having the actual perks themselves buffed into absurdity. It's a path I'd rather not go down.
Imo - all the perks suggested as basekit most commonly are all band-aids to in-game issues that should be fixed at the core, instead of perks.
BT/DS - Tunneling
Reassurance/Kinship - Camping
Kindred - Solo Queue Lack Of Info
Corrupt Intervention - Insane RNG of Survivor Spawns
It's not really about favorite meta perks, but more about the band-aid game design perks.

I didnt say that you wanted that. But you want to revert good 6.1.0 changes for some reason, and make killers overall more harder and stressful, when in reality they are mostly in good spot rn. And instead of nerfing strongest killer stuff in the game, you want to revert good changes, then buff every weak killer in the game, its just weird and unoptimal balancing route.
There's lots of changes in this thread that are significant killer buffs. This thread just said - 6.1.0 buffs were a formiddable attempt to address killer pain points, but not the correct approach. Besides,I said to revert ONE of the changes. The post hit distance/cooldown.

How much harder do you want to make it?! Going against good survivors, you'll struggle to get a down because of holding forward, instadropped pallets, and no-mindgame loops. Maps are, imo the single most unfair, unfun and unbalanced content left in the game, but by a mile. Maps imo need a major re-balance because it's really frustrating to "just load into the wrong map on the wrong killer" and basically lose the game instantly through no fault of your own.
Perhaps! I can only speculate as BHVR never really gives us any good data on that. Maps are definitely in the top 2 pain points.
