Keep playing. MMR takes a bit to update, I reckon.
If you're really constantly 4king at the MMR cap, and not just smurfing down your MMR between games (I see...far too many AFK killers doing exactly that) then you are a world class player, better than most semi-pros and may need to seek out tournaments for a true challenge.
That said - it would have been even easier under grades if you're really that good, as you'd have been facing a much wider variety of players and far more newbies.
it does not. we have confirmation that it's calculated right as you die/escape.

Then run perkless.
I might. A lot of my builds are just aura reading anyway, with a side of gen regression sometimes. I did Perkless Huntress for a while.

It is. Unambiguously so.
I started under grades, and simply dealing with multiple 'red rank' 2-4000 hour SWFs in a row as a brand new player thanks to the monthly reset alone was ridiculous.
Despite being new, I was pushing into purple ranks within 2 weeks and, again, facing people with thousands more hours than me.
You cannot possibly think that that was good for the game - unless all you're really after here is being able to roll over new players.
SBMM certainly isn't perfect, but it's a huge improvement.

The recent buffs to baseline BT were pretty effective at helping make tunneling weaker.
The big problems right now are instadown killers camping and Nurse...well, Nursing.
my thread being about: game too easy rn can my killer matches be harder
your outtake: mmm, yes, she wants easier matches and stomp noobs. I'm doing that right now and it's ######### boring lmao.

Oh, yeah. Strengthen solo, not SWF.
And let's be honest here, the patch did absolutely nothing to SWF.
swf are the ones who deal with all the killer regression perks just fine while solo survivor suffers,correct..

Challenging for the opponent you mean, right?
challenging for me because playing killer on the spectrum of hard things to do seems easier to me than 4 BNPs SWF ATM.

Only if we could bring back old nurse
nurse is still the easiest killer to win with, got buffed with 6.1.0 and I forgot her range got nerfed when I played her for a daily because it didnt make a difference.
she needs nerfs,nothing else.

@Blizer said:
Honestly i think buffing other survivor perks instead of nerfing killer perks is the way to go tbh, but i do think old DH was super unhealthy for the game and it shouldnt be brought back in any manner, and if it does need buffs, i think adding 0.25 seconds to the DH window is what i would give it currently, but i dont think it needs it right now. There is another topic on it, but i do think they should revert DS back to 5s would help survivors out a bit, but keep it being disabled in the collapse.
I also think an issue that is plaguing the game and is affecting how the game can be balanced rn is the vast rng of tile spawns in the game. You either have nothing but deadzone, or multiple t-walls that lead into god pallets or shack. You either loop the killer for 3 to 4 gens or you go down within 10 seconds, and that can lead to frustrating gameplay on both sides outside of a couple specific killers who can negate it, but for the rest suffer from poor RNG.
I do think the game needs something where instead of new content within one of the 3 month periods where we get it, BHVR instead focuses on cleaning up core issues and cheating that is been steadily rising as of late. Sucks for lack of new content, but i do think the game needs a good period of time where they just clean out the issues and make it a better experince for everybody
Correct sentiment. I just kind of went to the most obvious tool we could bring to the survivor's toolkit to nerf the killer's chase potential. Plus I just want an i-frame perk back - it was funny DHing through static blasts and traps.
-
@Brimp said:
If games were hard for you because a perk was busted... I think that means you werent going against good survivors. Even then a game being "tied" because of a perk isn't healthy design anyway.

Whatever, you sure are smart enough to interpolate red rank to the top of the current MMR rank or whatever word you want to use it.
You must have a hard time in general if you read everything literally.
You must have a hard time wording things correctly. Also if I'm getting tons and tons of kills I PHYSICALLY cannot be at the mid-range of MMR lol. I got a legit Prestige 100 player recently.
But yes sweetie,I'm sure I'm low MMR.

Hmm I think maybe a few of the base kit buffs could maybe be dialed back a tiny bit, but overall I think it’s just the quality of the survivors. I feel this way because of running bond as a survivor haha it’s just so bad to watch all your teammates running around and crouching. Why the heck is my teammate crouching on the opposite side of the map while I’m running the killer nowhere near them? All. The. Time.
I think the speed-boost + new bloodlust is just kind of silly especially tbh.

Then I would also say I made a similar post last week. I never play killer because I just switched not too long ago to PC from PS4. Last week I decided to try killer on keyboard and mouse and I was stomping survivors which felt nuts because on PS4 I usually 2k’d. I was getting really bored because on pc I was just 4king over and over and over. People in the comments just claimed I was at a lower MMR and it would eventually go back up to the survivors I would face on PS4… but after dozens of wins… come on. I dropped killer and went back to survivor because of exactly why you wrote this post. It’s not fun to always win.
feels like people just want the killer sided patch to last as long as possible lol

@OrangeBear said:
I agree i think killers need a nerf or survivors need a buff but old DH was awful because it made the game feel so uninteractive and that's the worst possible thing a game can have. You could predict that they were going to use several seconds before they do and there's nothing you could have done about it, because they would use the distance to make it to a vault or pallet.
Personally I never minded it too much. What I do miss as a survivor is the i-frames - if they added it without the dash and just the i-frames,no endurance speed boost,no nothing,I would honestly run the perk all the time lol.
I suggested DH being brought back simply because I feel like I'm getting downs way too fast and Killers need a nerf to their chase,it feels.

honestly, I started running bond and I would say a lot of it is just due to survivors not doing gens. I can loop the killer for quite a while and very often I just see my team running around or one of my injured teammates just crouching at the edge of the map. I’ve been regretting running bond because I can see why gens never pop during the 3-4 minutes I’m running the killer before I finally go down. Sometimes I debate running straight to my teammate this is doing nothing while the killer is chasing me. I don’t though.
Survivors barely loop me,I get downs so quick it's not even funny anymore. I sometimes get a bad chase in mid game because a good survivor gets to loop me for a while but like that aint enough lol

If you assume the entity has 'programmed him' then he can make sense but it says in his lore his goal is still to go around killing STARS members. Really barebones lore
Wesker's whole thing is spreading a disease that kills like 99% of the people who get it, leaving a world full of people with "Superior genetics" aka people like him that can survive the virus. I really wish they would expand the lore on how/why some of these characters are serving the entity though.
I guess being taken by the entity wasn't enough to make him give up his goal of complete global saturation
okay but then like
either all survivors are "superior beings" or axe body spray is an undiscovered owobowos antidote.

At least Wesker has motivation and an ideology of some kind. It's a over the top motivation but at least it's there
I love Nemesis but his reason for being in DBD makes less sense than Weskers for example. Sure he fits the archetype of a Killer but I can imagine Wesker going around hooking people more than I can Nemesis.
I think it's just RE in general with it's tone and writing that makes their characters seem a bit out of place in DBD thematically.
Nemesis is a programmable weapon,I can imagine him bowing down to the entity. How does hooking survivors fit Wesker's..ideology,whatever the ######### his ideology is.

Conceptually Legion and Trickster make sense
But their execution isn't the best. Especially Trickster's base lore (His tome lore is much better though).
I'm not gonna say Wesker is the 'scariest' or most typical horror character but he def fits the roll of a killer. It really depends on your criteria.
Yeah his tome lore is amazingly written and saved him a ton. As for the execution,it's clear that BHVR failed to just execute on the concept they had with the Legion,I still can appreciate what was there, tbh. Wesker's concept is originally just "yeet survivors" and there won't be any tome to make him not be a comicbook villain.
Morbius on the other hand.... 😀
-
@Brokenbones said:
Legion and Trickster exist though
Like I enjoy both of these killers but Wesker is more fitting than either of those two
I dunno, Trickster is an actual horrifying concept that in a way exists in real life,if I remember correctly (i think some Japan players?) picked him as the scariest. The Legion is still a band of killers, which could have a scary execution.
Wesker is...an action movie antagonist.

I personally like the old one, the new ones feel way to small, all the gens are ontop of each other on one side or the other so it’s quite easy in solo Que to 3 gen yourselfs if you even get that far, each time I’ve played that map one gen just about gets done, people are dying way to quick and I don’t get why, either not used to the layout yet or it’s because it’s way to small and majority of the pallets are useless. I think there is 2 pallets one on each that are safe the rest you can just walk around and get them without any bother,
I actually want the old map back : ( or at least put it in rotation….
good luck with the new trophy escape 30 times I think it is…..

not every loss is honestly getting outplayed in chase, there's map you can predrop and just run safe loops where it takes a long time to get them and if you're going for hooks you wont win the game.
going for hooks means you already dont care about the win condition because going for hooks is antithetical to going for the win.

SBMM sometimes poops the bed, especially when people dodge lobbies. RBMM was complete and utter chaos on the regular, especially in the first week of the month where everyone got reset.

How do you know what your MMR is?
Because one has a winstreak and gets 8K hour players and the other is an insidious Bubba used for meme builds and challenges, who has a loss streak and gets babies?
Also yes,yes it does. Take a look at Otzdarva coaching Anna. In her FIRST games ever she got people with 2K hours. Yeah sure buddy, MMR works KEKW

Said me.
I started in 2020, right on the monthly reset day. That was miserable. After a few games, I was facing streamers and people with 500-1000s of hours of experience.
Despite being awful at the game, I was in purple ranks within 2 weeks and was facing that level of player again, if not better.
I can only imagine that the new survivor experience was analogous.
Except now WITH MMR THAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIRST BOOT UP THE GAME. LMAO

That's what was confusing me. Like I wrote, I'm seeing consistently 100% bonus for survivor but when I got in queues for survivor and killer I'm getting matched under a minute for both roles. Usually under 30 seconds.
it's almost like it's based on general ratio and not your mmr so the queue times dont add up!
-
Packet Loss is generally meaning an action/input of yours got lost along the way to the server. If it happens infrequently, along short timespans,it's fine as any half-decent networking model (even DBD's) can just interpolate your actions from the last packet until it gets a new one. So you might maybe not send a DH signal to the server because it got lost along the way.
Ping would just be latency,as in how soon the server is notified.
-
Uh... Play a bit better and dont rely on camping with noed and no way out? I'm having zero trouble as killer. Any loss I face is because I got outplayed in chase.

SBMM is miles better than grades.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3164181#Comment_3164181
Yes, I did. I'm still not sure what you mean.
- How is it not working as BHVR described?
- What do you mean 'incentives are ignoring MMR'?
Okay. I guess Kills & Escapes is a very good indicator of skill, somehow. Leatherface with 2 hooks and kills is better than a Trapper with 8 hooks no kills.
How is it ignoring MMR? It's ignoring Killer rating completely as your MMR on each killer is supposed to be different according to BHVR. They used that as the reasoning to lock you out of switching between killers in a lobby.
If it's not ignoring MMR,there should be incentives on both sides at least sometimes, for people with vastly different ratings on Survivor vs Killer.
The reason it doesn't work like BHVR said it does IS because it is ignoring MMR. How hard is that to understand?
-
dh should just work like mettlle and have 0.75s window. the fact that it doesn't work half the time period and it also doesn't work if you're getting tunnelled is insane.
-
@amazing_grace said:
Very interesting thought process... you have a solid point on how in theory, someone who has very different mmrs between survivor and killer should in theory maybe see two incentives at once.
What I wonder is if BHVR just didn't think about this situation occurring (assuming most people might have mmrs that are rather close to each other in regards to brackets between the two roles), so it might just be coded in a way that doesn't allow this to happen.
A theory I have from your post is that since the incentive is "tailored" to each player individually, they could have coded it so that the role that is most desperate is the role that will show an incentive. So it's like an either/or situation that only allows the role that needs players the most to show the incentive. Maybe both roles for your mmr might need players, but it'll only show the one that has the high incentive percentage, so it doesn't give you an option, it just tries to fill the most needed role that you can provide.
It probably doesn't work like this because it seems a bit too complicated, but it is an idea why you haven't seen incentives for both sides at once. They could have put in a conditional that required the incentive to show up for the most desperate role because it would make the most sense for them to create a system that "forces" you to pick the role they need most, not give you a win win option.
they could have also just..tried to make it follow the MMR and fail. it took them 2 years to make a worse version of the emblem system so I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm definitely seeing different incentives to the streamers I watch, so it does seem to be working right now.
Keep in mind that it's also somewhat tied to region.

So, whichever role is 'needed', gets a bonus, dependent on how badly it's needed.
Ideally, you'd want to have at least 4 survivors queueing within each MMR bracket for every killer queueing.
If there aren't enough survivors, that role will be rewarded. Ditto killer.
If there is a lack on either end, the other side will likely have longer queues.
Except the incentives are ignoring MMR so it's just kinda silly.
