okay. what are her counters then?
and dont say “play immersed” because that just insinuates that she has no counterplay in a chase.
You can read up Ive listed them so many times already

I said some tell, not a direct tell. That's just putting words in my mouth. Some tell could be letting survivors know when she starts to phase OR leaving a trail of black pools of blood or something. Either/or. It doesn't have to be both.
I'd prefer the trail because in the same way survivors try to mindgame with their scratchmarks, you can mindgame with the trail you leave behind. Survivors need more information to work with rather than be punished for an educated guess.
Ive repeated countless times she already has a tell when she starts her phase her entire animations reset.

I mean I really can't cause theres not that many videos of youtubers going against actually good Spirits

I never said OP.
I said no counter play.
What's your idea of "basic Counter play" please tell me, as Spirit main, please, I'm waiting and I'll literally tear each counter play of yours down.
Im a Spirit main too boo you ain't special <3 Ive already listed she has a tell when shes phasing, you know her limitations when shes in phase, you have to have basic map knowledge, and you need to be able to identify the Spirit's play style. Guessing and mind games are a very minuscule part of her actual counter play.

umm. no, I would like a clear indication to survivors in her TR to know shes using her power, and to tweak some of her addons. I don't want her to get the billy treatment. Its funny how people refuse to even talk objectively without being salty or condecending.
No you literally said shes too good for the casual players which translates too shes just too good for your liking. We've tried to objectively talk but when your argument has been refuted 100x and you just refuse to listen how do you argue or talk objectively from that point?
-
@Slickstyles said:
Any fair player doesn't want Spirit's kit to be nerfed nor or they demanding for nerfs. Most players if not all players who are actually good at this game didn't even ask for a Billy nerf. However, we do acknowledge that there needs to be some tell when she's using her power.
The counters to spirit are actually stupid and a lot of it boils down to a guess better situation. Oh you can stealth or run and walk to trick the spirit. Those simple ass tricks don't work on a good spirit. The only real counter to her is to hope that they're bad or have no good headphones so those tricks actually work on them.
Putting a direct tell of where her location is will directly bring her too F tier lol the fact survivors cant see her is what makes her good.

Your play gets countered by headphones.

Yeah, not a reliable one - especially on console where the graphics and framerates are inferior to PC.
Its perfectly reliable. Console doesn't stop animations trust me I literally used to mainly play on Xbox which is where I learned her counters.
-
@Rey_512 said:
The only tweak she needs is a bigger visual tell when she’s phasing. Nothing crazy, but enough to prevent the stupid “standing still mindgame” at pallets for attentive survivors.
NOTHING else needs to be nerfed. She already has a cooldown on phasing and she’s 110% movement speed.
I mean she already has a tell you just need to be attentive.

I think Freddy needs to be next. Specifically the oblivious status. So many of them proxy camp and tunnel, as survivor you shouldn’t have to run across the map to wake yourself up and then back again before you’re allowed to use BT.
I would ask for a minuscule Freddy nerf but I don't cause I know if one small thing goes down its possible it'll have the biggest impact on his performance.

As a killer main, Spirit is ridiculously easy to do well with.
The first game I played with her I got my adept with no add-ons. At rank 2.
She doesn't necessarily need a nerf, but she needs something.
No shes perfectly balanced people don't like her because the most common method of play, looping has no effect on a good Spirit.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Name a good counter or more against a Spirit who runs Stridor and listens for footsteps / breathing.
- Just playing immersed. Sorry your loopy loops wont have much effect on a good Spirit.
- If you pay attention she has tells when she begins her phase. Her animation resets its extremely easy to spot if youre paying close attention to her
- Have basic map awareness and know where to run and when.
- Always keep an eye out for vaulting windows this is her BIGGEST counter as most windows she will always have a difficult time keeping up with.

beating the sweatiest teams with the most amount of hours that live and breath DBD with a killer Ive barely played will prove that she is broken and unfun? Otzdarva did that with Freddy, does that prove freddy is overpowered and should be nerfed to the ground? that doesn't prove anything, whos to say that 3 man earlier weren't the sweatiest? thats nonsense, really great players with great settups will win no matter what, and the killer for those group is nurse anyway if youre a good player. SWF groups leave people on the hook to do all gens, they spread out and make it really difficult for any killer to apply pressure. beating them wouldn't prove anything, and loosing to them doesn't prove the opposite either. sweaty swf groups are rare. Im arguing for the casual solo queue player that takes up 90% of survivor queues.
So your argument literally is "This killers too good gut her." got it

You must have the best eyes ever because everything that I've seen online and in game, there is no tell when she is phasing or not. Animations, crystals lighting up, or otherwise.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1437846#Comment_1437846
Totally understand this, but what I'm saying is more of a whoosh sound right when she enters phase mode. The vacuum sound when she is close to you and coming out of phase would still be the same. Prayer Beads would be unaffected.
She very normally Arches her back and raised her right hand up to her breast. It basically resets her into a default position if you pay attention its easy to notice.
-
Lol definitely not the worst map they've ever made imo is Badham cause ooooh man I can loop and get looped on that map for AGES with all the loops near each other.
-
@Nebula said:
The number one complaint myself and many others have when playing against spirit is the lack of information that is given to you to make a proper play.
If a map-wide noise is made similar to Demo's teleport or Billy's new yell when he starts his chainsaw, survivors wouldn't get hit by Spirt's "mindgame" when she just stands still. Much more information would be given to survivors within and outside of her terror radius, and IMO would make facing her a lot more engaging.
She already has a tell when shes phasing she resets her animation its very easy to see because its not like her normal jerking motions.
-
alright bud I'd like to see you stomp a 4 man red rank 2000+ hour SWF as Spirit with less than 10 hours on her lol

Bubba, Nurse, & Spirit are my top 3 hated killers. The first two because I hate playing them. I'm glad to see Bubba getting some love, but man Nurse could use something. I suppose she can remain the veteran's killer -- someone willing to put the effort into learning her, but it won't ever be me with how she is now. Top that with the fatigue that messes with my eyes.
Spirit when playing as a survivor and you know why. If they were going to go after any killer, you'd think it would be her.
I can't once remember complaining about Billy, besides the obvious "crap I was downed just now." And I complain a lot to my poor SWF husband.
Edit 10 minutes later~*: I completely forgot about Clown and if that doesn't say something idk what does.
Spirit is fine if you play her and realize that she has tells when she’s phasing

compensation does exist, survivors see it in this game, when they nerfed gen speeds, perks were buffed. Ideally when theres an unnecessary nerf there should be a buff
Those perks were buffed so that way they wouldn't be absolute trash. There'd be no point in running Stake Out with a 4% rare boost on max tokens. This nerf wasn't to 'nerf' him as a killer it was too remove a playstyle which was unintended from the start.
-
Yeesh Imma PH main and you definitely just used them to tunnel/camp without punishment...Cage's aren't meant to be tunneled or camped they're meant for evading second chance perks, evading pallet/flashlight saves, keeping pressure, and saving 10-16 seconds of time.

Which is fine, you're allowed to not like certain perks.
My FAQ thing is more for the "Self care is a fifth killer perk!!!" dum dums who are under the impression that SC shouldn't be used by anyone ever because THEY think it's a bad perk.
Personally, I prefer the versatility SC gives me. You personally might prefer the safety net of IS as there are less killer perks (and rarer as outside of Archive, Killers generally don't use Iron Maiden) that directly affect IS while accepting the risk that you might get to a point in the game where you're hurt and can't use it.
Neither of us are objectively wrong; it's just a play style difference.
Agreed! If you find a use good for you! As long as its not hurting the team go for it!
-
His add-ons are pretty good I dont believe you're using him or his perks effectively.
-
@tippy2k2 said:

To use IS, you need to find and clear a totem (so that takes time for both of those actions). Then you need to find a locker and get in, which also takes time. Then you need to crawl into said locker and sit and chill, also taking time.
There is also the risk of the killer using Iron Maiden so now the killer knows where you are. There's also the risk that you can't find a totem (either because you've been hit before so you needed it multiple times or you just have a hella efficient team or the RNG Gods have decided they hate you today and totems are all in the sneaky hiding spots) so now you have a healing perk that can't heal you.
There's certainly nothing wrong with people using IS over SC if that's your preference but people pretending like SC is some super bad perk with nothing but problems and risk love to absolutely ignore all the potential problems with all the other healing perks.
Tbf Im not sure how an up too 40+ second heal is worth it in 99% percent of games.
-
Mmm I already don't play with meta perks too much! On survivor I use
Second Wind
We'll Make It
Blood Pact
Botany Knowledge (I like healing c:)
And on killer I use (PH and Spirit)
Death Bound
Forced Penance
Surveillance
Brutal Strength!
I think any perk build can win if the player is good enough!
-
Its a great anti tunnel perk if its active when you get tunneled off hook which is why I pair it with DS!

Yep! Very good colors.
Thank you! In all honesty im not 100% against them coming out with 'recolor packs' which recolor a lot of purple cosmetics every now and then until then the rift recolors shall do!

-
@PureHostility said:

Add in a need for locker, which may take you additional few seconds to get in also IS doesnt start as soon as you initiate the locker animation anymore, so another 2 or 3 seconds, then exit animations if you do it slowly.
SC can be done anywhere you want.
Yeah but TYPICALLY it isn't smart to actually do it out in the open. Plus Inner Strength negates Nurses, Thana, sloppy, and deathbound
-
Actually as someone who considers himself a new PH main a tactic of his I don't see many people utilize is the fact he is one of the best 3 gen strating killers! A big map doesn't need as much pressure as long as you can get a successful 3 gen then at that point you're great! Especially with DeathBound :)

Then I guess I'll be not smart shrugs
I have a FAQ for these things because you'll just make the same tired arguments every other day when this same tired thread pops up but something seems to be going wrong with the Forum as I can't access previous posts...
EDIT: Got it to work; my usual post whenever "Self Care is a bad perk" threads show up every other day. It was just easier this way than to keep typing out the same tired arguments day after day after day after day after day...
*There really is no such thing as a good or bad perk; just good ways and bad ways to use it
I personally use Self Care (as a level 1 Red) because I have found that there is one survivor I can actually count on in this game in Solo; Me
I have been burned far far far too many times by fellow survivors just unhooking me and bolting as fast as they can away from me. So I need a way to fix myself without needing another player. Now for the FAQ:
- Why don't you run Pharmacy or X perk? Either way I'm burning a perk spot so what does it matter if I burn it with Self Care or with another perk that usually will take even longer than it does to just Self Care?
- Why don't you bring a med kit? Because sometimes I want to run a tool kit or a map or a rubber chicken. Med Kits will also run out if I manage to get hit multiple times throughout the game
- Why do you just run into the corner and heal while you let me sit on the hook!!!!? I don't, see my second sentence where I stated that there are good ways and bad ways to use a perk. Letting the team get slaughtered so that I go hide in the corner of the map to heal is the bad way to use self care. There are bad ways to use every perk but you don't see people yelling about how X Perk is awful.
- Why don't you just play wounded? Because I'm not great at chases and I find I can be a lot more effective in chases if I know I can take a hit. I can burn a lot more of the killers time if I can take two hits than if I start wounded and go down in one shot.*
Id like to counter with Inner strength even on max ranks take less time to do a complete full heal than SC does. Self Care takes 32 seconds 40 if sloppy. Max Rank IS takes 22 and 20 on lowest I believe.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/166874/my-personal-tierlist
Anytime someone makes a list like this, they usually are focused on how hard the player is to play as, or to play against (hopefully both). You will always have some that agree with your list, but seems everyone plays different...many that disagree. Example, it’s widely accepted that Doctor is a good killer, but I feel he’s too easy to outsmart, always different opinions so don’t let anyone (including me) change your perspective.
That being said...why is Spirit always placed with Nurse in SS on these lists? Yes, the Spirit is super strong. But reality is this:
Nurse: Michael Jordan, Spirit: LeBron James
Just because they’re both great does NOT put them on the same level.
Because when it comes to top Spirit survivors I dont think theres a chance of survival in all honesty. Especially from what I've seen and experienced back when I was a top Spirit main haha. I think shes below but the same level as Nurse.

That Clown position.
And OP has the balls not even to address it. Mad respect. Even though it confuses, baffles and annoys me.
Honestly I didn't address i because a lot of streamers were addressing how good he was post buff but yeah his buff was really major though small and I noticed his performance and my own performance with him sky rocketing in red ranks :O
-
@Munqaxus said:
I would say that Wraith is probably in the A tier and clown is in C or D.
Idk Clown after his buff is CRAZY Good :0 Wraith add-onless and perkless is low because he has to uncloak and recloak to use his power which gives survivors ample time to find a pallet or loop/
-
@Aven_Fallen said:

Yeah, but OP also wrote about addonless. Like, I play Pig all the time without Add Ons. While Trapper always (and I mean: 100% of the time) has one Slot dedicated to a Bag.
Personally I think Trapper is above Pig because he can shut down incredibly powerful loops that the pig quite frankly just cant.
-
@darklinger said:
Why always Michael below Ghostface? I think Michael more powerful but Ghostface more fun
Because GF can completely eliminate his TR with a click of a button and keep survivors pressured by constantly sneaking up on them so he can ignore chase a lot of the times. Micheal cannot
-
Imo shes worst or second worst killer. No map pressure or real chase tools until you get someone down on the floor which is extremely hard as a basically M1 killer. She has some good snowball potential but its solely based on chance. You could get really lucky and be an A tier killer with her or get unlucky and basically lose instantly
-
Maps I love:
Midwich
Thompson House
The Game somtimes
Coal Tower
Maps I hate:
Dead Dawg (never had a good time on this map as killer)
Badham

Oh. So there's already an example of a game doing the exact same thing I'm talking about, and the change is literally a direct improvement?
I'm surprised anyone is defending the current state of killer hitboxes.
Yeah like their killer Geisha has a very short, narrow, and straight forward lunge while The Photographer has a wide slash hitbox. No one complains about it on there and its regarded as a pretty fine feature.
-
I agree I mean Identity V has been doing this making all their killers have different hitboxes and they're doing fine lol
-
Yeah I absolutely agree there was NO POINT in adding the BBQ and Lunar event cosmetics. I wore the Dog mask to show Ive been a huntress main since 2018 and same with the Kate Denson cosmetic now they're for everyone and its just :/ what was the point?
