Start with BBQ. If its a bad Killer dump all your perks into gen slowdown. If its a higher tier Killer, still use one or two perks for gen slowdown but you can add in a unique perk specific to them (like Stridor for Spirit, or Nurse's Calling for Ghost Face)

Ace's phone in that photo looks even more modern than the one I'm using right now to write this message lol.
Yeah that's definitely not 60s or 70s.
I guess what I'm saying is that I bet Ace was originally meant to be from the 60s or 70s. Why would anyone think he looked like an "aging 50s movie star" if he was in the 2000s and most of the people around him were probably watching Titanic and Mean Girls.
BUT they retconned that when they made the archives lore four years later...
I'm not sure if the archives lore is even meant to be cannon or not because it sometimes contradicts existing lore.
I also felt that Hag's lore kind of got retconned in the archives as well because somehow being a skeptical schoolgirl in a typical Western looking society that makes fun of her English teacher doesn't really mesh with "Lisa Sherwood grew up in a quiet village, mainly isolated from the rest of civilisation. The people of the hamlet were kind and the elders kept old traditions alive"

While I agree with your overall assessment that they're probably the strongest of the Survivors, there are issues with this.
First off, the Entity doesn't exist through time like we do. It's able to go from time period to time period at will to grab Killers and Survivors, hence Killers like the Plague and Oni being so far from the past while we also have Killers like Legion and Spirit who are very modern. The devs have brought explained multiple times in the past that their position in a normal timeline has no effect on their position on when they were taken by the Entity.
Second off, Ace and Kate are not from the 60s or 70s. Despite my earlier theories about Ace being from those time periods (largely from the 50s actor reference)...
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TC0ANS2M1VDF/image.png
He has a smartphone in his Archive. While I'm no phone expert, the first smartphone wasn't invented until 1992, and was NOWHERE near as sleek as this one. The one in his hand looks more like a modern-day iPhone than anything else.
And Kate's default legs are called "Jorts." While they certainly existed in the 80s, the term wasn't properly coined until 2013, and that makes me doubt her being from the 80s. But she's still more likely from that era than Ace is.
And finally, Kate's quote is from one of her songs, entitled Boil Over, more than likely written before she was taken. Just a small nitpick.
Honestly, that Ace achieves lore was written so long after his introduction that it could've been retconned. Who knows if the person from 2016 that came up with Ace is even on the DBD team anymore
-
Time flows differently in the sense that the Survivors and Killers don't age. But the amount of time they've been there is entirely based on the time period that they were taken. Hence why Legion and Jeff are the same age technically but look very different because of the time they were actually taken. Jeff had more time to age while the Legion left as teenagers

We do have the Plague, who lived in Babylon if I recall correctly, but I'm not sure why there's a huge gap between then and now in terms of killers
I'm talking about Survivor. There's more diversity in time periods for Killers. Like Blight is from Victorian England, Oni is from Feudal Japan and Huntress is from the 1920s-1930s

I got Elodie with shards and kind of regret it because her two fun perks (Deception and Power Struggle) are super bugged and Appraisal is set to get nerfed in the future.
-
The Twins definitely do have counterplay. It’s just gonna take awhile for Survivors to get used to it. Thanks for helping with that by giving all of us tips
-
Honestly, Surge already has great synergy with Ruin/Undying because it applies to auto-regressing gens.
Buffing it to have synergy with EVERY gen regression perk would be insane. Because people would start 4-stacking gen regression builds.
Just imagine Surge applying Pop to Ruin regressing gens. Actually a nightmare build

Its so badly lit. I can't see half the time in the loop tiles. The update might look nice but let me see it come on
-
Personally, I like Surge better unless I'm playing a high mobility Killer that can really capitalize on Tinkerer
-
I’m Rank 1 on both sides. But I find myself playing Killer slightly more because of faster queues and more bloodpoints.
If Survivors got the same bloodpoints as Killers do and they had consistently fast queued, I’d probably be a Survivor main though
-
Deathslinger is super weird because his whole thing is supposed to be his gun.
But in reality half the hits you get are from Survivors slowing themselves down trying to strafe and surprise hits from having pretty much no terror radius with M&A

I always try to give a Survivor the hatch if I thought they played well and weren't being toxic

Victor has a faster movement speed, no red light, and the smallest hitbox in the game. He’s pretty unique. No terror radius even just loud growling
-
Thank god we have the OP perk Blood Favor. So when Survivors go down on pallets they can’t be pulled down
-
Sometimes they're totem hunters. Sometimes they're super protective teammates that go for unhooks n stuff. They're not usually gen jockeys or flashlight clickers tho

"Jeff accepted the challenge and painted a large mural depicting "The Legion" in runny, bloody letters. He was given a fifty-dollar bill and a 12-pack for his hard work. It was his first paid commission, a milestone to be proud of.
After his parents' divorce, Jeff was forced to move with his mother to Winkler, Manitoba, which was miles away from his home town—and his dad. In Winkler, Jeff was more isolated than ever, except for art and music. His solace came shortly after graduating High School when he started working at a local bar with live music performances."
It is VERY clear that Jeff was still in school when he painted the mural. He didn't graduate until moving to Winkler. So yes, Jeff was very much in school with the Legion and was around their age when he painted the mural.
It's confusing to some because the Legion and Jeff are about the same age... but the Legion went to the entity first and time works differently there. So if Jeff ever meets any of them again they'll look the same as when he painted the mural for them back in the 90s.
-
All four legion members plus extra recolors?
-
Legion has two sweaters already....
-
Slinger is balanced simply because he’s a 110% Killer. He has a default disadvantage in loops which he can make up for by hitting shots.
If you hit the difficult shots, you can cut chases short. But if you miss, you’ll take longer than a generic 115. He rewards skill and is punished by mistakes. Might not be fun to play against, but its relatively balanced

Ranks really don't matter for one. It's easy to get to rank 1 as survivor. Hell I got there in just 2 weeks when I played survivor for the first time. It's a bit harder as Killer to get to Rank 1, but again - you will get there if you play enough.
I get Rank 1 within the first two days of rank reset. Every month for at least six month in a row. I'm not sure why you're so desperate to invalidate me.

Thats the reason why gen perks are popular not why there are so many. But i think its normal that there are so many. Its one of the main objective besides finding and killing survivors. There are atleast the same amount of tracking perks. Many of this listed perks are tracking perks which not help to regress gens.
The real problems here are that gen regressing perks are the most impactful perks and there are only Ruin, Pop and Corrupt which are viable.
Gen perks are the strongest and most popular. The Devs want to sell the new DLC. So guess what type of perks they keep making?
As long as gen speeds have the potential to override fast chases and cause the Survivors to win by default regardless of how well the Killer plays, generator regression perks will be king.
If you've ever tried Adept Killer challenges at Rank 1, you'll notice yourself losing matches you should've won simply because you can't stop the generators since you don't have any regression perks.

They weren't good survivors. A good survivor team ignore's Ruin. No amount of gen pressure you do can stop 3 Generator's being worked on at once. Hex perk's are entirely useless against a good group of survivors. They will simply check totem spots as they pass them, and if they see your ruin - boom it's gone. By the time they finish all 5 gen's they finish all 5 totems. They know that by actively ignoring generators and searching the map for all totems - they will be throwing the game. As far as NOED is concerned. It's a Hex perk that makes you have 3 perks all game with a miniscule 5% movement increase. Good survivors only care if they get hit once. Good survivors know how to loop against Bloodlust 1, which all NOED is. They tract Killer movement, and know when to work on the doors, or if it's a SWF they have at least 1 key or controlled chest RNG to get a key. They play around NOED just like anything else, and the Killer that took NOED is only worse off taking a useless perk that made them have only 3 perks in the first place.
So reliability you will most likely not have NOED at the end of the match, and even if you did get it - it doesn't give much of a reward. Same with Ruin, and same with Undying. Honestly Undying is only a perk to protect a perk that shouldn't be easy to completely eliminate in the first place. So you are choosing to throw away a perfectly good slot, to protect a useless perk. That's two slots thrown away, against good survivors you lost at the loading screen.
Back on the fact that good survivors can just ignore Ruin. You go back on survivors needed educational perks/items like Small Game, Detectives Hunch, or a Map. No good survivor is going to run an educational perk. They already know the spawn locations. They also already know where the Killer likely spawned, and other survivors likely spawned.
As far as Tinkerer's goes - good Killers would know what gen's are being worked on, be able to esitmate how many, and how long it would take for that gen to be completed. Any Killer VS a good survivor knows they lost that gen when it reaches 75% which is the only time you get the use out of Tinkerer's.
You're trying to reason, with bad information, for bad perks, that no good Killers run, and no good Survivors care about. With scenario's that only works on bad survivors.
And again Surge is only useful, if it can pop more than one gen. Against good survivors - it won't, because they don't work on gens next to each other.
I honestly don't know what kind of "good" Survivors you're talking about. I play at Rank 1 and rarely ever get Survivors that aren't Red Rank. I've never lost a game where Survivors don't cleanse Ruin because I can pressure them enough to make it get tons of value.
It's only like maybe 1 out of every 10 games where any Survivor(s) even escape out of the exit gate with this build. NA west coast servers. Unless there's something magical about the servers you play on, I think the hypothetical god tier coordinated Survivors you're talking about are so rare that there's no reason to even mention them. For all intents and purposes, a Ruin+Undying+BBQ with Surge/Tinkerer/Killer Specific Perk is best.
-
The reason there are so many gen perks is because the strongest Killers don't need chases to go faster, they need the gens to slow down. Against the top tier Killers, the Survivors only real option is to gen rush because they can't loop for very long or mess around with stuff like sabo or flashlight saves.
Think about Killers like Freddy, Nurse, Spirit, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger and Blight. They don't need stuff like Bamboozle, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Save the Best for Last or Brutal Strength. Those perks are just band aids for Killers with a weak chase.

felix very well could’ve been taken by the entity before Eloide knew why Felix had left though, right?
elodie brought herself to the entity's realm when she was 28. her parents disappeared when she was 14 and her backstory picks up again 14 years later.
felix's career started taking off when he was 23 and his backstory implies that he was around for awhile after that because he continued to get awards, worked on the dyer island project and eventually become a father all after he was 23.
its possible felix was taken before elodie left... but im guessing it was either around the same time or elodie went first

... I was excited to see this thread till you said Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer, and Surge.
- Good survivor's memorize totem spawns.
- Good survivor's know how to play around gen's and watch for the Killer - your stealth means nothing
- Good survivor's work on gen's opposite of each other, not next to each other.
Those are literally basic facts as well.
Also it depends on the Killer you are playing, any Killer that doesn't have anti-loop, and fast movment can't face strong survivors - period. As far as perks go you are tossing around; Nurse's Calling, Bamboozle, Barbecue & Chili, Brutal Strength, Corrupt Intervention, Discordance, Franklin's Demise, I'm All Ears, Infectious Fright, Iron Maiden, Lightborn, Make Your Choice, Mindbreaker (since the update), Monitor & Abuse, Oppression, Pop Goes The Weasel, Sloppy Butcher, Stridor (Spirit Only), Surveilance, Thanatophobia, Thrilling Tremors, and Whispers.
I only play Killers with High Mobility or Anti-Loop. Stuff like Blight, Freddy, Pyramid Head, Spirit, Legion and Deathslinger totally owns with versions of this build.
I've had games where the Survivors know all the totem spawns and spend the first part of the game cleansing all five totems to get rid of Ruin. And guess what? They lose. Because 2-3 minutes with no gen pressure gives me a massive advantage. I'm usually on my third hook before Ruin goes down and they haven't even finished a generator.
They're totally screwed if all four Survivors go on a cleansing spree early game. I think the only optimal way to beat Ruin/Undying is to have a designated totem cleanser with small game, detectives or a map. So Survivors are still pressuring generators while the totems are getting worked on. If all of them commit to totems before doing generators, it's like old Ruin on drugs: massive slowdown. And the funniest part is that even after they waste all that time on my totems I still have Surge for some gen regression.
Also, Tinkerer isn't really for stealth (the fact its awesome on Freddy, a Killer that has a lullaby whether he's undetectable or not should be a dead giveaway). It's actually just for helping you prioritize generators. So you know when you have to drop chases to protect gens. Ruin does the most work when you can pry a Survivor off a generator that's almost completed... sometimes it regresses to zero before they can get back to it.
-
It's probably just inconsistent hits. From super delayed Dead Hards that somehow manage to avoid damage anyway. To getting hit through pallets when the Killer wasn't nearby. And if someone is laggy on either side you just have these moments of ######### just happened cause they tend to teleport. DBD is the only game I've played where having a bad connection gives you an advantage over people with a good connection.
-
Because SWFs would always play against Deathslingers, Hags, Freddys and Spirits since the solo players would leave those games. And the SWFs wouldn’t know

Those are tournament meta builds. It's not a public match. Cleansing totems during Corrupt is completely counter-productive because Undying gives aura reading. You're essentially giving the killer their first chase by doing that. The whole point of running other hexes with Undying or Ruin is to gain benefit whether they choose to cleanse or not. You benefit either way. If they don't cleanse, you have Ruin/Undying/NOED. There's no scenario where that's a bad thing. If they do cleanse, they're spending a ton of time doing so. Plus, downing a survivor during Corrupt means you can usually camp someone until struggle with Ruin active around a 3 gen, so you probably lose a single gen and can tunnel someone out at 3 or 4 gens. That's massive.
Ohhhh. Its that kind of tournament. The kind that has no class and is just filled with gen rushing and camping. No wonder I've never seen those builds run by Killers before I'd be bored out of my mind watching that

I'm on PS4, and even if messages were turned on crossplay means that a lot of lobbies can't communicate pre- or post-game.
(And like I said, I was just ranting. I'm not upset at the players, I hate those kind of challenges. Getting that third gen to 99.9% but not completing the challenge because the survivors made the right play in that situation sucks. The challenge's requirements aren't sensible in terms of realistic gameplay with the way matches go, especially for solo survivors.)
You should try the challenges from Tome 1.
Finish repairing 4 generators with Dark Sense equipped in one trial and Sacrifice all 4 Survivors in the basement in one trial were some of the highlights. It was a trip for sure

Lucky. I tried that and it didn't work for me. Finally got it done thanks to an AFKer.
I just want to take this moment to rant that I was doing that finish-3-gens-in-one-match challenge... Finally, I had a match where no one suicided and I didn't get tunneled, I did 2 and 99.99999% gens... then the killer hooked me and the survivors finished the gens before coming to save me. $W%&^^&%#$#T%%$# ... I don't care if that was the smart play, challenges like this really blow. The ones that have to be completed in a single match can be quite frustrating.
In general, its best to tell your teammates if you're running a challenge. Those people didn't know they were supposed to save gens for you to finish with them
-
Speed Limiter is the key to getting Billy challenges. They stop taking you seriously once they notice and give you easier hits.

Against the strongest survivors BBQ is a wasted slot. The strongest combo right now is Ruin/Undying/Corrupt and the 4th slot depends on the killer.
On Killers like Legion, Spirit, Freddy and Blight, you get a ton of value from BBQ. Although I can see the argument being made that Killers without mobility to follow up on BBQ are wasting a slot.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Don't use tracking perks if you're talking about taking on the strongest survivors out there. BBQ does nothing for you if you have good game sense. There are only so many gens survivors can be on.
My tournament builds usually go something like Corrupt/Ruin/Undying/NOED or Corrupt/Ruin/Devour/Haunted. Tinkerer/Surveillance is the one exception I'd make. It's good if you have a very mobile killer, but wasted on a killer like Pyramid Head
Those builds feel like there's a lot of anti-synergy. I can't imagine them working in tournaments.
Corrupt encourages the Survivors to look for you totems because they want something to do while they're waiting it out. With Ruin, you want Survivors to work on generators early game because after your first hook there's usually a generator with a lot of progress on it that you can interrupt for massive regression.
With Undying, you don't want to stack a bunch of hex perks because Survivors tend to go cleanse crazy. In all likelihood, they'll cleanse all five totems in the trial regardless of how many hexes you bring (because the common practice against Undying is to cleanse even the dull totems so hexes can't respawn). So don't run any extra hexes other than Ruin its overkill and won't matter
-

What about Corrupt/BBQ/Pop?
Its too weak. Pop wastes a lot of time on most Killer when you see a gen across the map its not worth it. Corrupt is too luck based. Sometimes you get bad gens and they barely notice it. And sometimes they all immerse and you don't get your first chase until its almost over
-
My all time favorite Killer I've bought is Legion. Went from Rank 20 to Rank 1 before I even tried another. They were the reason I switched from a pure Survivor player to a Killer/Survivor flex.
Bubba is probably my least favorite Killer I've bought. He feels really terrible to play and I only got him for BBQ. It was about 2-3 months before BBQ went on the shrine so the bloodpoints I earned were probably worth it. But it's just sad that I have a Killer that I hate that much. He does horrible in emblems because he's an insta-down Killer and the clumsiness of his power is just awful. It feels like you have no control over chase because you have to hug corners to get kills but the hitboxes of the environment are so weird that you sometimes hit things and go in to tantrum and feel absolutely cheated out of a down.
-
I like what you did with Feral Frenzy a lot. The Corrupted Within power idea seems kind of gimmicky though not sure it would actually do anything against good Survivors might get a few meme kills against noobs tho
-
Honestly, I'm such a high level Rank 1 Killer that I stopped noticing SWFs a while ago. I can 4k the vast majority of Survivors whether they're in a team or not. When I was worse, I used to blame SWFs every time I lost... now I don't lose and I don't have anything to complain about.
-
Unless there’s a really juicy gen interrupt that I see on BBQ. I usually proxy camp.
For some reason, I get a lot of stealth Survivors. So once I have leverage to force people to interact with me I use it
-
The only Killers that have their own map as one of their best are Deathslinger, Pyramid Head and Pig.
Everyone else is average or below average on their own map.
-
Tunneling is effective on one Killer, Pyramid Head. Because of the way torment works you can cage/mori people right off hook or track them down after they’re uncaged. Survivors might complain, but its extremely effective and rushing through hook state to get a quick kill will get you easy wins even against the sweatiest SWFs.
Camping is pretty dang good on Hag, Demo, Spirit, Blight, Freddy and Nurse. Because they don’t technically have to “camp.” They can do other stuff and then come right back to the unhook when it happens and usually avoid BT in the process. It creates tons of map pressure and free hits.

I mean charging your power. Demo charge-shred, Deathslinger scoping, Huntress hatchet wind-ups, Billy/Bubba chainsaw revs. None of those cause the Killer to lose bloodlust unless they commit to using them and they have bloodlust during the charge. There are a couple other exceptions but those are some of the most obvious

Play for yourself, screw your teammates. It shouldn’t matter too much if you escape or not. Just that you had good chases and felt productive.
