I like this.
-
I already bought the chapter, so for me only the map and the skins from the store are going away.

Maybe the crows are not going to be related to the killer power. The killer just simply likes crows, because they are black like the ink she uses. Maybe makes the ink from crow feathers.... so maybe the killer power is still related to crows, she needs to collect crows to build up her power.

Wow the imcompetence is astounding.... Nothing in the patch adressing med kits yet Behaviour manages to ######### things up. Can't say i'm surprised... Thank god i stopped spending money on this game.
Why do you need logs? Medkit with 16 charges simply just have 15...
In the background they are probably adding code for future killer powers, future perks, so the code is being modified in various ways, not just the patch notes. Still incompetence though.

One of the best comp teams is made up of DBD devs, so I guess yes.

Why to P3 even that single survivor?

Yeah I’ve noticed that too. Probably because OG 2016 and 2017 players have already quit or just don’t find going to the forums all necessary.
Also, who knows, it will remain a mystery. It did come from high school which I graduated from in 2019.
They have a special legacy forum.

Range going through floors cuts both ways, it also helps any killer ability with limited range. For instance, Killers can hear generators and survivors through floors, can see auras through floors, and their terror radius goes through floors for abilities that work in that (e.g. Unnerving Presence). So it helps Boons and survivor abilities with limited range and also killer abilities with limited range,
Yes that's true, and I also don't really like that. With terror radius it is a bit difficult, because if the killer is above you then he could drop down on you through a hole. So terror radius must go through floors, unless some complex algorithm is implemented which calculates the shortest distance the killer is able to get to the survivor.
My problem with boons is that if it is above you it is often very time consuming to go up and find the totem.
-
@Dino7281 said:
I don't think they can do it. It's just how it works in this game.
But yeah, you have basically double range.
Why wouldn't it be possible? They need to add an additional condition that the effects start on the hight of the totem and ends e.g. 3 meters above the totem.
(If there are totems in odd positions then those need to have custom height values.)

I mean, they have a point 😂
How am I going to ignore a perk if there is only that one available, and the Entity is not going to consume it since it's such a small bloodweb?
In early bloodwebs you have no choice, just take that perk.

No, they should fix it, but this is unintentionally a buff.
Or it was unintentionally nerfed before?
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I don't know how it's not a buff. Many people say they didn't use dead hard because it makes you exhausted on the ground. That doesn't happen anymore, so people who didn't use it for that will want it to use it now. That's the same effect as a buff is it not?
So they should not even fix bugs, because if they fix it, it is a buff. Right?

What wonderful advice that doesn't apply in the slightest, as you don't get to choose perks nor avoid them in the case being discussed.
Don't be so pissed
-
What to do in bloodweb:
If there is a perk you want: Go for it.
If there are no good perks: Go for the perk with the highest tier, so that it disappears ASAP from bloodwebs and you get a chance to see other perks (hopefully perks that you like).

It's not survivor validation, it's server validation. It went from Killer validation (I'm guessing as hold over from when Killers hosted the matches) to now being neither killer nor survivor sided but server sided.
Previously, Dead Hard's invulnerability was calculated on the Killer's client, which led to survivors needing to anticipate the killer's swing to an unreasonable degree in order for it to work. With hit validation, the server will decide if the hit would have landed and reject it if Dead Hard was active without relying on the Killer's client.
About the feedback mechanic, I meant that people are not realizing their hits were invalidated and looking around to see the survivor is gone - because they hear the scream and assumed it hit. There should be better feedback that your hit was invalidated. I don't know if it should be a sound cue or what, but something that would help Killers to realize what happened so they don't lose even more distance.
Yeah, survivors should scream and go into dying state when confirmed from sever. This would eliminate the confusion. But maybe it is not so easy to implement, because there is a different animation and logic happening if you miss a hit vs if you hit successfully.

I think it will still not work correctly. When you dead hard, you often do it when you notice the killer starts a hit animation. So if the killer has high ping you will see the animation too late and you will be exhausted bon the ground. Maybe it should be survivor sided validation.
TLDR: server sided validation is better than killer sided validation, but probably should be survivor sided validation.

Pretty crazy amounts. Could you write down how you got these numbers?
My calculation:
1 transaction ... 167 kWh
10000 transactions ... 1670 MWh
1 MWh ... 950 kg of CO2 (coal plant)
1670 MWh ... 1586500 kg of CO2
1 tree absorbs ... 14kg of CO2 per year
It takes 113321 trees to cover all this CO2 in a year.
Average household in US uses 10MWh electricity in a year. So the energy needed for 10000 transactions could cover 167 households electricity for a year.
Pretty crazy.

you.... are quite wrong.
Because you are NOT buying the painting, as per your example, you are buying the receipt. The painting stays in the gallery, with only the person who 'sold' it to you having control over it. They can gladly just delete your receipt from the database and sell it again, without you being able to do anything as the transaction can not actually be traced (which is why crypto IS used for all sorts of shady financial stuff)
so no, you are not buying an original or a copy, you are buying the promise that you did buy the original.
What your example describes are art commissions, not nfts. And cryptobros like fog up there HATE commissions with a passion, citing that they are 'too expensive' commonly (which, translated into plain english means they are scandalized at the thought of having to interact with another person politely and respectfully, with there being a risk that they don't get their will if they don't)
You are also wrong:
- Once it is in the blockchain it can't be deleted, you will have there the proof forever that you received it.
- Crypto can be traced, because all transactions are publicly available in the Blockchain. You see how cryoto moves from one account to the other. You just don't know to who does an account belong, but it can be often figured out.

You know what makes this whole mess even worse?
By all means, bhvr could have just said 'no, we're not going to do that, we'll wait till january and then contact mr barker about the licensing rights'
But no.
(Heck, i'm not entirely certain, but didn't barker also create Candyman? doesn't he have the rights to that too if yes? We COULD have gotten hellraiser AND candyman, with NO nfts, but NO)
Maybe BHVR management was fine with NFTs, so there was no reason to wait.
If they wait until January they can't really work on it before that.
Maybe they had good contract conditions now, who knows what would happen in January with new owners.
Why do you assume that Mr Baker would not want to create NFTs?

Mass hysteria based on incomplete understanding of NFTs, inability to correctly comprehend tweets/text, unrealistic fear of Steam deleting DBD.
Many people complain about the environmental impact of NFTs, which is correct because NFTs use cryptocurrencies to work, and cryptocurrencies have high energy demand which mostly comes from coal plants. But this is a bit unfair, because I don't believe they were outraging when some companies started to accept e.g. Bitcoins.

Right, but now redneck the terms down.
Send a letter: Grab cash from wallet.
Perform anti-doublespend checks: Tape the cash to a rock and detonate it at the cashier. (using rough industry standard measurements)
Both parties now understand the transaction was valid (with a negative connotation): The Cashier wonders ######### that moron was thinking?
Explain it as you want, but I would not understand anything from your explanation and also would not know where does the environmental impact come from.

Oh, gotcha, so a better comparison would be to say
"If you were a gas station clerk that asked a customer for a $20 to pay for the gas, the customer went outside, taped the $20 to a rock, lit a 5 Gallon barrel of gas on fire, causing an explosion sending the $20 hurtling into the register , would you be concerned about their sanity?"
More like this:
If the customer wants to pay, they send a letter to one of the Blockchain factories saying that I am giving this money to the seller. Then the seller waits a few minutes until it receives an update from the Blockchain factory which says that this transaction was minted into a Blockchain block, which confirms that the money is now owned by the seller. The Blockchain factory uses a lot of energy which probably comes from a coal plant.

Thank you for explanation. But i though that every blockchain technology can't be tracked. Therefore for other cryptos that is why i was confused with nft. Anyway thank you for that.
It is not really true what they wrote you. Better do your own research on NFTs if you want to know more about it. If you don't know what it is and don't want to look into it more, the simple answer is to just ignore this hysteria and don't buy NFTs.

If you handed a Gas station clerk a $20 Bill and then they took out a 5 gallon barrel of gas and lit it on fire to "validate" that the $20 you gave them was legit, would you be concerned for their sanity?
Validating that you own the cryptocurrency is not resource intensive.
Saving transactions into the blockchain is the resource intensive part. (It is needed to prevent undoing past transactions).

Cryptocurrencies gain their value from other people buying them.
Value only goes up as more transactions are made.
Which means there's a clear hierarchy. Early adopters make the most profit, late adopters see the least profit, with a progressively lower chance of gaining profit.
That is basically a pyramid scheme. At some point there is a poor sap at the bottom who loses out, and you only get a return on your investment if more people are recruited into the scheme.
It is true for most of stuff in the world: their value depends on how much others are willing to pay for it.
It is also true for many things that you need to buy/sell it the right time if you want to get the most profits. If somebody bought it 10 years ago and was able to hold it until today and not sell them immediately after they e.g tripled their value, good for them. It was a risk and they were lucky, it could have turned out the other way around as well.
It is not a pyramid scheme, because the cryptocurrency is not claiming that you will get profit out of it, or that you have to invite 5 more friends, etc. If somebody is going into cryptocurrencies to see magical profits, it is their own speculation and responsibility... If they lose money in the end it is their fault for being dumb. Sure... there are companies who want to lure people into scams related to cryptocurrencies... But then that company is the scam, not cryptocurrencies in general.
And just as a note: I am not in this cryptocurrency business, but I find them interesting.

right, but the difference here is that Bitconnect is part of a standard that many people associate with cryptocurrency. Given how easy it is to pull off these schemes. Also cryptos involvement with a list of illicit activities doesn't do it any favours either.
I'd be willing to bet there are more bad examples than good of crypto users. And all for what? An unregulated digital currency? I really don't see any benefit in using crypto over conventional currencies. Especially seeing as how volatile the actual value of the cryptos are.
So just because Bitconnect was a scam it means that all cryptocurrencies are a scam? Sorry it doesn't make sense.
You can create scams like this with everything, even selling candies. Just promise a beautiful profit and you will find enough dumb people who join you. But it will not make candies a scam.
The benefits bod cryptocurrenccies is not really related to this discussion and I don't want to get into it.

I can only assume that more casual Killer players that don't use a Headset will get cucked by Shadow Step since they're not fully invested into maximizing their available information.
Shadow Step is much stronger against Killers that are not wholly invested in going for a Kill and have other distractions (especially audio ones).
Still think its radius needs to be reduced (and a better visual indicator of the Boon totems location when near it as Killer), however this is from a hands-off view, haven't played DBD for a while.
What about for players who don't want to use a computer screen, or are watching a movie while playing DBD? Would it be possible to come up with something for them as well?

you should look up a study on the Bitconnect incident, which was a big ponzi scheme to do with crypto.
I didn't look too much into the details, but it seems like Bitconnect was the scam, not the Bitcoin itself.
Example: Just because some car dealer does some fraud and operates a scammy car shop you won't say that cars in general are a scam. Right?

NFTs and crypto aren't real currency, and NFTs do not have legitimate value.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573786#Comment_2573786
Everything can be a scam. Not everything is. Crypto is just a scam skirting a long documented history of backing being a limiting factor by deluding people into thinking it's not needed.
The entire selling model for Bitcoin and crypto is that promise of value - saying any different is just proof positive of bad faith.
Sure, if you think it is a scam, you are free to think it, and for you Bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies will have zero value. Some people think it has value, some don't. This can be told about almost everything.
-
@ElusivePukka said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573719#Comment_2573719
The fake business is Bitcoin itself. No, it doesn't have value, and the lie that people tell themselves that it has value is just part of the ponzi scheme, not a miraculously self-evident fiat currency.
I don't agree, because nothing in Bitcoin says "buy me and you will get more value back" or something similar.
There are people speculating that their value will go up. There may be companies selling Bitcoins with fake promises of their value going up. But it is not Bitcoin's fault.
Based on your logic everything is a scam, because e.g. someone can create a scammy business selling that thing.
-
@ElusivePukka said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573670#Comment_2573670
All crypto is exactly that description of a ponzi scheme. "Invest in [cryptocurrency of choice] for a chance at some big dividends! Ignore that the profit only comes from market interest (and thus new investors) and has no tangible backing beyond that promise" - that part about no tangible backing, by the way, being an intrinsic selling point to the rubes who believe in blockchain.
In Ponzi scheme the organizer claims that the profit comes from a legitimate business (which is in reality fake or makes no profit).
So what is the fake business in Bitcoin? Isn't it obvious that it has some value, because people believe it has value? Buying Bitcoin because you think their value will go up is speculation, but not a Ponzi scheme.
-
@ElusivePukka said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573551#Comment_2573551
Crypto, and by proxy NFTs, are a ponzi scheme. They only have value if there's someone to sell to, and they're not goods which accrue real value. The mass production is not the true issue from an economic standpoint - it's the intrinsic volatility of unbacked intangibiles. However, the ecological impact of a single Bitcoin is a cost, and one we as a community ought to be against.
Ponzi scheme is:
Invest in my company and then I will give you profit. But the profit actually does not come from company business but from new investors.
Bitcoin is not really that.
There are many things that don't have real value and their value comes only from what people are willing to pay for it. E.g. paintings.

Ok, here's the thing. The idea is that it's a limited collectable that may or may not pay off (depending if you have another sucker to bye it from you). The scarcity of an NFT is completely artificial, and the content that you "own" with an NFT is easily mass produced, so yes, I do consider it a scam.
You say that it is a scam, because it can be mass produced. It would be a scam if you didn't know about it and someone would sell you while claiming the opposite.
Btw I guess even if a lot of NFTs can be created for the same stuff, most likely the first one will have the value for people. But I am not an expert on this.
Note: I would also not buy NFTs, I am not interested in them.
