I hope the nurse doesn't become add-on dependant because that's how it looks on paper. I guess we'll see on the ptb...
-
-
If gens get done this fast, it probably means that the survivors are gonna 3 gen themselves so the killer could come back from this.
-
It's silly that there isn't an account transfer considering the grind. I would buy dbd on PC but the sheer grind that is needed has put me off.

The Hatch auto-closes after someone uses a Key and jumps in, and thus the EGC starts. ;) Could probably lower the rarity of the key a fair bit if you do that.
When it's just the 1 survivor and killer left and the survivor has a key, there is literally nothing the killer can do to stop that survivor escaping out the hatch. Hence why I included it.
-
Insta heals are definitely a problem but the game has a few things that are considered op and should rightfully be nerfed. For example:
Insta heals should be like original bnp, you get a 3 successive skillchecks and if you hit them, you get healed. So you can't use it mid chase and it would still counter sloppy butcher
Mori's should be active after second hook so we don't lose the cool animations and it still gives the killer a slight advantage of not walking to a hook.
Huntress irredisant hatchets...add text say that it can not go over 1 hatchet. I think this add-on is balanced if it is just 1 hatchet.
Keys need to be nerfed but I dont know how.
I think if we address these issues than the game will be more fun in the long run.
-
I'd change the mori's so they'll be active when the survivor is dead on hook. Otherwise we'd lose out on all these cool mori animations.
-
I come across at least 1 insta-heals every other game. And my heart just sinks when I don't see that offering turn.
I think it's just an unfun mechanic to go against.
-
Below is a link showing the difference between the two. Skip to 1:50 if you can't be bothered to watch it all.
This makes it very difficult to catch a survivor, especially with short blinks as you can't turn fast enough.

NOED definitely should be changed imo it rewards you for failing, unlike adrenaline which rewards you for succeeding, and gives undeserved kills.
Also killers as a whole can’t be buffed, because then nurse, spirit, billy will be even more powerful which isn’t needed, (spirit main), so individual changes for the weaker killers would be the change, but some killers wont be high tier, there’ll always be a low, mid, and high tier, also things have to be balanced at every rank, or playable, eg balancing just on rank 1’s will most likely ruin things for new players
What if the killer kills 3 survivors and closes the hatch. Is it still a reward for failure for the killer and success for the survivor?
-
The only change needed is a minimum distance to be implemented for egc other than that it's balanced the way it should be. Killer can not be in two places at once so as long as there is a minimum distance, the survivor has the advantage assuming the killer has not found the survivor yet.
Noed has been discussed multiple times and it does it's job of punishing gen rushes. If a perk can be countered without additional help ie. Perks than it is fine.

this video below by stray wolf shows the difference between console and pc for the nurse at least.

@ermsy ok, so...for the sake of conversation let's say 10. Wouldn't that mean if you combined everyone, that specific killer would be rank 10 as well as the survivors he NORMALLY faces.
In the most basic terms but what would rank 15 console survivors be? 25? In the most basic terms, one group has an advantage compared to another and that's what makes it unfair. Rank is not the issue, it will simply be unfair. And when the game is unfair it stops becoming fun.
-
@LordGlint probably 10 and below I guess
-
@LordGlint I don't know what rank an average console player would be in comparison but definitely lower. Probably rank 10 and below. A journey of a console killer would be horrible as well. It'll come to a point where you'd win or lose based on whether you'd play against console or PC and that isn't fun.
-
@LordGlint that's exactly what I'm saying. A PC nurse for example would destroy rank 1 console survivors. It wouldn't be a contest and it wouldn't be fun.
-
@LordGlint said:
@FireHazard so your Console rank 1s might drop to rank 3 when the player base is PC included and start playing at a more familiar lvl. Since there's no rewards for rank...why is that a problem?
It's not about the rank, it's more about how dominant the PC players will be in game.
-
I'm just asking so that I can make my point. So you don't want to play because your PC is a box of cheez-nips and underperforms and gives you a disadvantage.
Then why can't you emphasize with console being in a similar situation if cross play was available?
-
Why don't you connect your controller to the PC?
-
@TheDuhJ why don't you play on PC?

@TheDuhJ even if it did, and all the console players would get ranked against each other, so even PC potato's somehow get ranked higher than consoles best... How would that be any different than right now? You'd have console players playing with other console players...oh no...
I must be getting trolled lol
Do you not see the irony in this statement?
It's literally "I want cross play so there is a bigger playerbase...can only play other console players...so what was the difference"

What evidence could you possibly have to suggest the biggest reason ps4 players would lose to pc players is because of hardware choice
d@LordGlint there would definitely be more of a challenge, better yet I have a challenge on you if you play on PC. Next time play via controller and try to cap your frame-rate to 25 as that's the average on console and maybe we can see some common ground.
@TheDuhJ what evidence? Do you not know the issues console has with it's optimization, framerate issues etc? and you don't think that will have an effect on gameplay vs someone that doesn't have those issues? I feel like you're trolling me.
-
@LordGlint because it's not the same skill, it's people relying on the hardware rather than skill. My problem is that I don't want to play against someone that has a clear advantage against me purely from me playing console. It would promote deranking from console players so that they'll avoid these unfair games and it would promote deranking for PC players so that they can grief the console players.
I'm curious, what platform do you play on?
-
@LordGlint said:
@ermsy wouldn't be a season or 2. If ya did it at rank reset, ppl would end up placing accordingly. That's just it though, how is that bad? There's no reward to being a certain rank, it's JUST about playing similar skill lvl.
I don't understand why it's so hard to grasp this. Ok a rank reset, everyone is on the same rank. Skill level can be capped through the limitations of the system. Let's say we both play on PC and our skill level is exactly the same, we would end up on the same rank. If I switched to console, because of the limitations of the console ie. Bad frame-rate, lack of sensitivity on the controller etc I wouldn't be able to match your rank despite being at equal skill. And this goes across the board.
Eventually you'll have the majority of consoles players at the bottom playing each other and PC players at the top playing each other.
-
@LordGlint said:
@ermsy that's where I think there's some confusion. For your example with overwatch, if 2 ppl using different platforms played, they'd only play AGAINST each other if they both got to the same rank, which would mean they were the same skill lvl, thus the console user would be able to handle themselves just fine. If your platform severely hindered you, youd never get to the rank to face those ppl to begin with. The Diamond tracer beating all the diamond players...would move to masters where they belong.
There is definitely some confusion but not what you think. If you put both tracers together the one on PC would be better and at first they would both be diamond rank if cross play was enabled. A season or two later console tracer won't be in diamond anymore, probably gold and you'll have all the PC players at high rank and all the console players at low rank because the difference will start to show. If that happens than cross play becomes meaningless as you'll be playing against ppl from your own system anyway. Apart from Smurfs which is whole other thing.
The same will be on dbd. At FIRST they will be on the same rank but sooner or later the difference will be apparent. Console version is a much slower paced game compared to PC.
-
He has got two other perks.

@LordGlint said:
@Bithard as far as modify the game/ hacking... Yeah, that's cheating and screaming for bans. Also, you can hack a console too, but whatever, lol. As far as what you were saying before about having advantages due to hardware... While ppl DO use PCs that are weaker than the PS4, PPL ON PS4 are using keyboard and mouse and you have ppl on PC using controllers...Tossing ALL that to the side and assuming you're right... You'd be left playing against and with ppl of the same skill lvl as yourself, shorter queue times cuz the game has more ppl of your lvl in your region, and less chance you'll have a mix of teammates from yellow ranks to red on the same team. The ADVANTAGES would only be seen from the number next to your name being green/purple rather than purple/red, but the quality of the games would persist. YOU didn't get worse after all, neither did the ppl playing WITH you, you just have the ppl with advantages that you're sweating about in ranks above yours. All this being said... Is this a bad thing? Oh yeah, almost forgot. Apparently different killers are more/less popular depending on platform, so more killer variety.
Nobody is talking about skill level or playing in the same rank. Just because there are people that use weaker PC's than the consoles shouldn't disregard the difference between the two platforms. People that have weaker PC's have the option to upgrade, people on console do not. And match-making will be better...at first but population on console will slowly dwindle because of it's limitations. Why play on console when the opponent has a clear advantage?
If we use a different game as an example, let's say overwatch. A diamond tracer player on PC will always be better than the tracer on console purely because of the systems limitations.
-
I think the difference in frame-rate is enough to say no to cross play between PC and console. PC can have 60 frames at all times. Console is capped at 30 and halve the time doesn't make it to 30.
Plus mouse offers much better accuracy compared to controller. I think fortnite had to give console players a huge aim assist to compensate which create an whole other problem. And people won't want to spend another $100 or more to even the playing field with a mouse and keyboard.
The difference in performance would kill the console community, and cross play will turn into PC only again.
-
The perk shouldn't have existed in the first place.

You make it sound like in suggesting this replace the regular mode that has perks. I'm simply suggesting an additional mode.

in what way is pressure stopping people from looking for 5 totems on top of getting 5 generators done (as well as doing other objectives like going for hook saves) not a strong one? if a killer is putting out enough pressure to make people need to stay on generators in order to win, going out of your way to look for totems is seldom an option
most of the time spent in getting totems cleansed isn't the actual cleansing, but the locating. on large maps like grim pantry where totems can spawn literally anywhere along the edge of the map, going out of your way to find 5 totems while the rest of your team effectively plays 3v1 can easily spell out a loss. and everyone looking for totems out of the way of generators slows down the game more than ruin does
you are really underplaying the time investment going for 5 totems requires for a team that isn't communicating. getting a totem at the beginning is easy, getting a totem when someone's in struggle phase on a hook and another person is being chased is throwing the game. against a competent killer you simply won't reliably have the time to look at every potential totem spot
again, the way i counterplay noed is i look for the totem after it's activated, or even before it's activated i'll look at the totems i saw throughout the game to see if any are lit. it results in much less time wasted and as long as the gates aren't open you aren't on a strict time limit anymore unless someone's dying on a hook. but just because something can be counterplayed does not mean it's healthy for the game; note that i don't think noed is "overpowered", i just think it's an unhealthy perk
The game is already too fast, the threat of noed does slow the game down. Even when I don't have noed I see survivors cleansing dull totems. Without noed there is no reason to touch the dull totems and certain killers that are very weak early game suffer the most like trapper, hag,Myers. Other killers like clown have barely any map pressure although he is good in chases.
The game is objectively too fast, survivors can generally get the first two gens done by the time killer has one on the hook. Straight away the killer is under pressure and has to rely on survivor mistakes at that point.
Also you don't need to invest that much time into looking at totems. If it's just 1 survivor looking for 5 totems than yes it will take a while. But if 4 survivors keep an eye out while they go about their business then it is doable. It is a secondary objective after all and the 4 survivors can look for totems as they are looking for gens.
Also the larger the map, the less pressure the killer will have, the swamp maps we're patched to be smaller for the killers benefit rather than the survivors.
Your counterplay is a good one, I'm not disputing that. But I disagree that noed is unhealthy, it attempts to slow the game down which is currently too fast and punishes those that didn't slow the game down.
-
I've been using the nurse quite often and the frame-rate isn't the only issue, it's the lack of sensitivity when turning.
On PC you can blink and turn quickly thus have a clear view of the survivor. On console you can't turn fast enough and it becomes a guessing game.
The video by stray wolf shows a great example of this down below. Skip to 1:54 if you can't be bothered to sit through it.

my argument is that it cannot feasibly be countered in normal solo queue games, and not being able to cleanse 5 scattered totems around a large map while also doing gens, going for saves and getting chased isn't a sign of incompetence, it's a sign of competence on the part of the killer. any killer, even without the top 3-4 killers, can spread pressure to the point of necessitating staying on gens. looking for and cleansing 5 totems wastes a tremendous amount of time and people (largely killer mains) really love to underplay it in order to highlight how "counterable" noed is, ignoring whether or not people are generally in any position to counter it. it's a hypothetical counter at most
@BunnyTheHutt they are poor arguments. every game you know there may be a spirit, that doesn't mean you should have to bring iron will. every game you know there may be a nurse, that doesn't mean you should have to throw a lery's offering. perks (and everything else) should be counterable with gameplay, not other perks and items, so "use x item" or "use x perk" isn't really fair, especially for newer players who may not have maps or small game on their characters
"cleanse the totems" is a legitimate counter to noed, it's just up for debate whether or not people can reasonably expected to get 5 totems in a game that isn't extremely one sided since looking for 5 totems as a solo queue player takes up a huge chunk of time. someone looking for totems isn't doing anything else, and if everyone's looking for totems to counter noed then gen progress slows to a crawl
Your argument that the killers pressure is stopping you from doing totems is not a strong one. There are 4 survivors and at least 1 of them can do a totem when they come across them. Your argument only holds in the scenario that you are expected to cleanse all 5 totems while your teammates do nothing which can happen in solo q but that isn't the perks fault.
There is barely any pressure from the killer at the start of the game so you can usually get a free totem there, if ruin is being used, that will eventually go anyway which already leaves behind 3 totems. I wasn't saying that getting chased and doing gens is incompetent of survivors but rather purposefully ignoring the totem next to the gen they are repairing.
I understand where you are coming from, it is difficult for one survivor to cleanse 5 totems but 4 survivors cleansing 4 totems?...not so much

This is a giant load of crap. The "easiest to counter perk" lmao you ever heard of Devour hope?
Noed is the safest hex perk by a mile and a half and considering its status isn't contingent on the killer playing well, they did nothing to deserve it. It's only contingent on survivor action, which makes it a crutch perk. It's there for bad killers and bad players.
The safest hex perk is still a hex perk and thus can be countered therefore does not need to be nerfed.

solo queue isn't coordinated, by definition. a killer who applies pressure properly won't give you time to go looking for totems, and it becomes even harder when none of you know how many totems have been done
i'm not saying noed is overpowered (i mean, i don't think it should give both a speed boost and an instadown; it should probably just give the instadown), or that it's uncounterable, i'm just saying "cleanse the totems" is a poor argument for solo queue players. i actually think it's a better idea to take note of where totems are as you run around, and then if noed procs, go look for those totems you saw and see if one is lit
items and perks aren't a good argument either. telling people to bring items or perks to take care of a perk that may or may not even be in the game isn't really reasonable
Only a handful of killers can apply pressure to all the survivors, the rest not so much. If that was the case you wouldn't be able to do gens let alone totems. Apart from hex totems, the killer does not know the locations of totems so is less likely to find you on a totem than a gen.
It is a perk that can be countered without the use of perks but they help alot. The main reason noed is so effective is purely because of incompetent survivors.
Just as you mentioned you can take note of a few totems, cleanse the rest then come back end game to check the remaining totems.
The whole "cleanse totems" or "use perks" are examples for the argument. The argument is simply that it can be countered and that reason alone is what makes the perk ok.
-

The whole EGC is fairly killer-sided as is (which isn’t a bad thing), I think killer grabs would be unnecessary.

8 times and its still too strong.
It needs to get completely reworked as another perk that don't instadown.
How is it too strong when there are multiple counterplays?
-
@miaasma said:
looking for 5 totems around increasingly large maps does take a very long time, especially on maps like swamp that have obscure totem locations
in a solo queue game with questionable teammates against a decent killer you simply aren't going to have that time
If every survivor does a totem when they see one, noed would take care of it self. I get that you can have incompetent teammates but the killer shouldn't be punished for it. There are also perks and items that can speed up the process of looking for totems such as small game or a map etc. If a perk has counterplay than it is ok and it goes for all perks whether it belongs to killer or survivor.

Assuming the survivor is healthy and you don't have an insta-down attack (so that you'd only have to hit her once before she gets to the hatch) and you don't have Franklin's equipped, then no.
Well that just plain sucks.
-
I think when comparing killer perks and survivor perks, you need to acknowledge that survivor perks have the potential to be used 4x times ie. If all survivors equipped it whereas killer has 1. It is 16 perks against 4 so if 1 or 2 perks are powerful, it will definitely have an effect.
A killer running noed is still only running one perk and can be countered fairly easily since 4 survivors can work together to make the perk useless. A killer shouldn't be demonized because the group of survivors didn't priorities countering noed, if it was pre-patch noed I would understand since there was no counterplay but now there is.
The same can not be said the other way round, if all 4 survivors used pre-patch mom or pre-patch ds etc. That one killer has to simply power through those perks and is robbed each time due to a lack of counterplay. It wasn't unusual for killers to be bullied due to this.
So pre-patch ds and mom got the same treatment as pre-patch noed so as far as I'm concerned they are all in a good place right now.

And this perk would severely punish the obsession and no obsession DS users alike.I would also like DS to simply disappear but I think this could be an alternative route.
-Rancor
-Enduring
-Iron Grasp
-Unnerving Presence
All 4 of these perks are bandaids to DS as they have some form of interaction with them or encourage you to avoid it until the very end. For Rancor you just wait until the very end though that is detrimental to the rest of the match while enduring cuts down the time you're stunned from DS. Meanwhile you have iron grasp that does exactly what you're suggesting - wiggle more before you can use the perk and then unnerving which shrinks the skillcheck but none of these are legitimate total counters to the perk. (A counter implies totally negating something) A lot of the time perks are released to help deal with problems instead of new baseline features to the game.
If you picked up the DS obsession with iron grasp, they would simply get off in 3 seconds, my idea would force them to use the whole wiggle as if they didn't have DS.
The only reason I've even come up with this is that the re-work has been abandoned and secondly DS won't be removed from the game as much as I would like it to be removed.
If anything this should replace iron grasp, against non DS users it would act nearly the same. -
