  • The most hilarious games are playing Trapper. Nothing to do with winning but with how many times a survivor gets trapped in a funny way. The T-bagger or frenzied clicker who feels safe behind his pallet while the killer simply stands only to see him runs five meters to step into a trap. It's comedy cold.

    Long range hatchet crunch noises.

    Managing to self-unhook and survive.

Hiding in plain sight next to the killer.

No, tournaments plays don´t represent the main dbd playerbase just as god nurses don´t represent the main nurse playerbase.

Nurse requires a hefty amount of time to master her. Especially to reach god nurse levels. If survivors would take even a fraction of that time to learn her weaknesses and how to play against her, then nobody would complain about her.

I´m all in for balancing the nurse, when this game gets balanced around the top level playerbase. With balancing i also mean, making her more accessible for newer players. So the abysmal low kill rate gets somewhere around the middle field. Not just nerfing her, because the top 1% players know how to play her.

I mean, the devs are doing so much, to make the game easier to access for newer players. There definetly should be something in for nurses as well.

So yes, i agree with you.

I kind of like she requires a lot of training. Making her easier to use would greatly reduce the satisfaction of playing her well.

It's just a basic delayed gratification thing.

It's kind of the same as being able to hit survivors cross-map with Huntress. It takes quite some training (for me at least) but then that squishy sound feels so satisfying.

Of course, you are right about the survivors not even remotely trying as much to counter her than to play her. It's probably one of the reason the worst Nurse nightmares are other Nurse players.

Oh i liked the stream. Don´t get me wrong here. But i´m not optimistic on regard of how they´ll rework the perks.

Do we need more variation at the top? Absolutely! Not only in regard of perks, but also in regard of killers/addons. Its just that tiny little voice in the back of my head that tells me to remember how they managed things in the (not so far away) past.

And i really, really hope that i´m wrong and everything turns out great. Buuuut...

Indeed, it has often been a bad surprise.

  • I only had one survivor and one killer at P3. I don't really care about skins so I did one killer for the achievement and one for the P3 Claudette skin (I prefer 4th anniversary though, so it was a waste of resources).

At best the sword of Damocles at the center of the web threatening to wipe all my add-ons was annoying.

This weekend tough, I've started to prestige all the killers I don't like. Since I've invested the bare minimum in their development the loss will be minimal.

It's unlikely I'll prestige the Nurse before the change though. I've got hundreds of instances of each add-ons (because I'm almost never using them) and I don't think any "compensation" can offset their loss.

  • My next machine will most likely be based around SteamOS. It will certainly not have Windows.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/324804/there-is-a-reason-people-run-the-meta

The 2 reasons are basically the same:

    • Killers run slowdown perks, because gens go to fast.
    • Killers slug, camp n tunnel, because gens go to fast.

@AshInTheTallGrass While the devs statement that they are looking on why the meta is the meta, i´m pessimistic in the regard that they really see the problem. For the simple reason that Nemesis had addon nerfs, because to many people used the same addons. While ignoring why everyone used the same addons.

Yes, that's what I'm the most wary of. If for some reasons the devs misunderstand the problem or have the wrong approach to fix it, it may very well be game over. The last stream made me kind of hopeful though.

  • Yes, why is it not base kit, I wonder.

Unless they plan to make breaking totems a perk for survivors too.

    they did

noed was nerfed numerous times into the nerfed hex version we have today and they still complain

    Easier than learning.

  • Otz is nice but has an hard time putting himself in the place of players with 7000 less hours of experience than him.

    NOED is fine btw.

  • @lemonsway said:

Cause people legitimetly thought a Beginer killer was OP. A killer that can only go fast when he can't attack and can only attack when he isn't fast. He has some nice add-ons and that's where the issue came from, his add-ons are mostly decent and elevate him a bit but not to the extent to where people can't beat him easily. Wraith's changes are a classic case of IGNORANCE from the complainers and Damage Control from BHVR.

BHVR listened to the "his lunge is OP" and forgot he has nothing else.... He's still just an M1 killer, he still needs all the help he can get. What does it matter if you're invisble if you can't attack? What does it matter if you're fast if you can't attack and you slow yourself down so much to be able to attack...

BHVR just listenned to casual whinners and the casual whinners won because DbD is a Casual game.

At some point the dev should realize this kind of move makes players leave.

Adjusting to the lowest skills just makes the game boring or awful for the more experienced players.

I do totems. I just personally think NOED does reward bad killer gameplay just like dead hard rewards bad survivor gameplay quite often.

Trapper will always have issues in the game until his core mechanics are fixed. I dont think using noed makes you any better trapper even if you 4k with it. You will just 4 k because of 1 lit totem that people didnt break or couldnt find.

I am not a survivor main by the way i play both sides lately i feel like more killer than survivor so im not biased towards any side if anything im leaning more into the killer side, but i personally hate NOED and how it works.

NOED punishes survivors for not doing the bones.

Dead hard doesn't reward anything. It only gives another chance to the survivor who should be otherwise dying.

NOED can be denied by survivors and only happens late in the match.

Dead hard happens in every chase and can only be baited or waited for which is BS.

But until then, We'll keep 'er the way she is =D

No, we can't. Nurse is perfect as she is.

If survivors ever get nerfed, they'll have to learn how to play against every killers, each one as deadly as the next. Then we'll read cries about every killer.

If I can hardly get value out of Unbreakable I can't imagine getting value from a perk that requires the killer to down you within the boon's radius, slug you, and not find the boon that they had to have downed you near.

With Unbreakable, everyone needs it to work against a slugger.

The advantage of the boon is that "eveyone" potentially benefit from it. (Which is insane.)

  • One of my go-to tactics is a four-slug. Boon exponential has helped many teams survive their first round down.

It also prevents the killer to keep trying to slug after the first time.

The four slug is not uncommon for Nurses so I think it may be good against her. It's not the best boon to use against Nurses though.

Same... But I do that a lot. His daily is rigged or something and there are a lot of Wraith friendly challenges in the rift. I play him so much despite the fact that I do not really enjoy him that much. Wasted slot in Hooked on You, if you ask me.

I don't understand what the process to chose the characters for that game was.

The only one of that lot that seem appropriate is Rin. I find Anna kind of repulsive, especially given how muscular they made her.

There were many better choices : Sally, without her traditional wrappings, isn't a hottie but still looks way better than the rest of the roster. Carmina and Adriris aren't too bad looking either.

  • I only play him for dailies or when I'm throwing (e.g. rifts)

  • @AykDanroyd said:

I've been screwed by jitters during chases and skill checks where the skill check dial jitters and messes up my timing, resulting in me getting caught & dying a bunch of times. But I guess things like this aren't important to BHVR. Just get more content rather than fixing the broken game.

Still no fix to the HUD either which has resulted in many deaths of myself & team mates who think someone who they weren't aware went to 2nd phase still has a whole hook to go before death. Shame on BHVR for not making that & the jitter issue their first priority.

Oh yes, it makes sense. Skill checks are client-side but if the time rewinds it's insane. As survivor the "worst" it made me do was to drop a pallet or vault because I moved back 50cm while doing the action.

(I just got your name btw, nice one ^_^)

Its horrendous. Play as Oni and it stutters on M1 and when landing a demon strike. Its barely playable atm. No worries though, we have a dating sim coming 🙄

The stutters made me miss several blinks (basically lose a chase), and miss many hatchets. But for M1 killers it felt even worse. (If I recall, it was messing-up with the loops and mind-games)

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

I’m not confident it will get fixed. The performance of this game is hot garbage compared to every other game I’ve ever played. People come to this forum talking about how they have lag/stuttering on systems with RTX3080 and the latest processors, so it’s not a hardware issue. The devs just don’t seem to be very serious about optimizing the performance. The game ran just fine on my PC back when I started playing a few years ago, but it’s been getting worse and worse

No, it's not on "our" side. The game runs at 120fps when I get the stutters.

I had an animation roll-back (opening a locker, as Huntress) so it's really rolling back in time.

I was wondering if it wasn't some kind of server-side anti-cheat (against speed hacks) gone haywire. Apparently it's not.

It could also only be validation glitching (I wonder if the stutters happen at the same time for everybody in the match)

I mean, what else could rewind the game tick?

  • If you look at the numbers for steam, it appears to have stabilized this month.

  • Face-camping referred to the killer blocking the hook by camping it. Now survivors can unhook from many angles.

What we have now is just camping (minus the fishing pole and the tent).

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The ptb has a tentative fix for rubber banding, but it's been acknowledged that the tentative fix doesn't work. For rubber banding though.

I've missed the acknowledgement. Hopefully they'll fix that soon.

  • Well, duh. NOED is fine, has been for a long time now.

Given the speed at which generators are flying, it's ridiculous to see people complain about a perk they can disable at will.

On another hand, it's mostly used at low MMR so the complainers are probably beginners. (Maybe it's the case for most complains about anything in the game, it would make sense)

  • I like a few animes, including Shingeki no kyojin, but I'm genuinely surprised of the appeal of anime skins but if it sells skins it's great.

I feel most anime styles would clash with the style of the game.

  • I almost forgot ...

Instead of crying about Nurse, try to play her. After a streak of wins* against clueless survivors, you should end up against good survivors who will clean the floor with you. Learn from them and try to apply their tactics next time you verse a Nurse.

Obviously, you'll still need some skills either way but who can seriously complain that the more skilled and experienced player wins?

Or you can keep crying nerf for (one of) the lowest kill-rate killer.

*) After you've learned to use her adequately of course.

    Sigh.

    Hi here again, Mileena.

    Let's take a look.

    1. CoH is still an absolute top tier perk. 'Useless' isn't just hyperbole, it's flat out wrong. It's just not quite as busted as it used to be.
    2. DS, before the change was ridiculous. It was basically an extra life.
    3. Dead Hard needs to go. The simple fact that this one perk almost single handedly dictates the meta from intermediate MMRs and up is an indication that it's a problem.
    4. Plenty of killer perks are getting nerfed too, including most of the better regression perks.
    5. Hug Tech isn't easy to execute or fix, as it has to do with the inner workings of the physics engine.
    6. Bleeding out is frustrating, but it will also be fixed in the patch (the game instantly ends once the last survivor is slugged). Plus, this isn't an imbalance as much as a BM.
    7. Yes, Ring needs a nerf. Patience, young padawan.
    8. They've already said that they are going to be fixing facecamping. What more do you want?
    9. NOED is likely getting a nerf in the perk overhaul.
    10. They are aware of tunnelling feeling nasty to go against, but what do you suggest? Make it so the killer has to hook survivors sequentially? I know that I almost never tunnel on purpose, but far too often I'll just end up finding that one overconfident or caseless survivor multiple times in a row.

I'm kind of wary about what they'll change.

Preventing tunneling or camping near a hook (let's be real: face-camping has been fixed years ago) without fixing gen speed will only make more player leave.

The good thing is : we'll know soon if the game dies or not. (And I sincerely hope they've found the right way to fix all that)

She is not healthy, i do agree facing a nurse is fun when they are Decent, it can be fun to mindgame.

But against a good nurse these mind games wont work

There are two minds at work in a mind game. Maybe one of them needs an upgrade.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/324592/dead-hard-demands-an-immediate-solution-no-more-delays

What is the solution for Dead Hard usage against Nurse?

What is the solution for Dead Hard and Borrowed Time usage to make saves against a Face Camping killer?

What is the solution for Dead Hard being used by 75% of survivors (I think that's the most recent statistic) and the balancing required for when it is removed?

    Wait what?

The reason DH is so much used is because it's ridiculously OP. The reason it's particularly good against Nurse is because how extremely punishing Nurse mistakes are. Once DH will be fixed, survivors will have to learn to use the new version or other exhaustion perks (e.g. Sprint Burst which requires actual skills to be used properly). There will be a drop in survivors MMR for a while.

As for the camping killer, the devs appear to have a plan. Let's see if it works. (If it doesn't push more players away, it will already be a win.)

  • I believe it's 6.0.0

  • Suggestion, play killer. You'll avoid bad teammates and will not be tunneled.

That's a very uncommon thing the report system doesn't even punish hackers and you're expect a farming killer to get reported ? Even if they did reports don't do anything.

    Not everybody knows that.

Besides, if your efforts to salvage a match are often answered like this (they are), you are bound to stop caring so you just end their misery.

The difference is the condemnation meter.

Condemned needs a rework before Sadako's teleport can be touched.

Condemnation almost never happens. Who is playing that killer anyway?

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

A definition does not matter, survivors will claim they were tunneled regardless and killers will claim they didn't tunnel. Really strange mental dissonance as apparently no one wants to take personal responsibility for their actions. Who could have guessed?

Taking responsibility implies it means something.

I'll kill whatever survivor I need to on a whim, because it suits me or because think it's what I need to do.

People want to put a label on this? Good luck. Now, down they go.

  • Sounds like a good incentive.

As for showing the odds, I would love to see them but after the match.

  • Not to be mixed with seppuku, which is way interesting as puzzles go.

  • Instead of going though all the arguments once more ...

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LNNtGyvAi_U

  • I genuinely think that if they do something wrong with that rework, it'll be the end of the road for many players.

Given how good the web stream was I'm hopeful. However there has been a lot of facepalm moments over the years.

    I don't think they'll nerf BBQ. I hope they won't. I hope they'll be smart about it.

    Same for the others.

  • Play her more? It's possible to get good games without add-ons but it takes a lot of training (or inexperienced opponents)

I usually play without add-ons because I'd rather improve my mind games and predictions than win. I still will my fair share of matches. Granted I've played her for years.

    Good point

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2961028#Comment_2961028

Yeah, I see that, but not on the killer's side...

On the killer's side, a lot of abilities present can have good synergies with others and create a good compromise, making almost all of them quite strong...

But on the survivor side, from what I see, people are complaining about Dead Hard, Borrow times, Decisive strikes... But when you see other skills present, you wonder what's the utility

Whether it's skills to prevent pissing off the birds, the one where you start injured and allows you to "hide" your bloodstains, Bond, sole survivor, empathy, Object of obsessions, ... a lot of survivor skills, are skills that are less good than others, there or on the killer side, each with its own little touch that makes it almost unique...

From my point of view I specify

That would be a long debate I guess. I've often mused being allowed to have a fifth perk in my builds and how much ravage I could sow with very little downside.

The problem with some perks is they are undeniably stronger than the rest. It feels very obvious for survivors (check the post about perk usage/MMR). For killer, some of the top perks are good but easily replaceable. (e.g. BBQ) But there are a few strong combinations too, although with more variety.

  • Saw it on the PTB.

    Saw it on streamer's videos.

It's just a pain to play like that. (So I do not.)

  • The change they may do to BBQ, or to competitors of BBQ, among others, will tell us if we can still have hopes for the game or not.

  • @TerraEsram said:

At first, it never really struck me... But, when you know that the killer is supposed, in this game, to be more powerful than the survivor... Why doesn't he have the same number of slot than the survivor?

I'm not talking about having 16 or an excessive number, but like, just 6 perk possibilities instead of 4, to give "more" power to the killer in a way? It may not at all solve the problem of camping, tunnel, teabag, clicky or skills that cause problems...

But at least it would give a "new" power to the killer, which would make the whole thing consistent in the asymmetry of DbD's gameplay

Or offer him an extra skill depending on what causes the killer the most problem, what the players would consider as "basekit", for example, the possibility of having a 5th skill, but with less advantage than a certain perks, like the possibility of destroying the boons, without reading the aura afterwards, or stuff like that

What do you think of this "possibility"?

I doubt a fifth perk would be a good idea. I'm afraid it would allow too many deadly synergies.

It's true that the survivors have the upper hand but look at what happens when a killer goes from "useless" to "potential". There have been threads upon threads of Legion nerf cries and rage-quits in game for several days (weeks?).

What should be done, in my opinion, is to progressively tune-up perks that aren't too good.

BHVR projects to rework 40 perks, from both sides. I guess we'll see the path they have chosen. (And hopefully that path will not make more people leave.)

  • It's as you said.

Survivors, especially the barely average ones, tend to be discouraged or rage-quit when facing a Nurse. I guess it's a question of character.

During my ~2.5k hours, I've versed plenty of good survivors very skilled in driving me mad. But even that kind gets spanked from time to time. In the chat they then brand you a "God" Nurse. Cute but wrong.

One hypothesis I have for the legend of the God Nurse is that something akin to the survivorship bias applies. Every relatively skilled Nurse player knows (s)he has good games, bad games and, sometimes, great games. The survivors versing the Nurse when she gets all the right predictions and never misses a blink do not seem to realize this is not how her normal games are going*.

They know though they verse plenty of Nurses they can beat quite easily but, they think, just not that godly one. They are wrong of course. They should think "not this time".

Of course a survivor versing a Nurse above his skill level will almost always lose, but could say it's not to be expected?

For everyone thinking the Nurse is not really hard to use and that survivors are basically dead meat : play her. Try to win streaks of games. You may, at first. I guarantee you it won't last, not unless you've already got thousands of hours on her. You'll still get something from the experiment though. Once you start getting your ethereal backside handed to you by good survivors, you'll understand how to verse her more consistently.

*) I'm not saying I don't win often against good survivors, I'm just saying I don't win too often and when I do it's often by a hair or the result of taking advantage of a critical mistake from the survivors.

  • I kind of like the PTB but I'll wait to see the release to give praises (changes may happen).

I love the killer, although he may be a bit weak against good players. (Still not sure)

    The darkness is underwhelming.

The sound and the visuals are just great. (I love the laments)

  • I guess it depends on the player.

I find killer to be generally way worse.

1 … 60 61 62 63 64 … 83
