The solution is simple: server-side validation.
Of course servers must not be made of cardboard.
There is no other way.
And what I mean is that cheaters should be kicked from the match as soon as they do something wrong. They can have a million account for all that matters. One impossible move : out.

The quote on the offering referenced using a noose for suicide ""Ask anyone trying to survive on this damn dust-choked land and they will tell you what a noose really is — a damn mercy.""
Honestly at first i didn't like the change because i felt like it was censorship. But overtime i think it's a good change. The old offering didn't really fit the map, the hung people on the map were executed not by suicide.
Here's the official response btw
I don't know, the broken glass isn't that innocuous either. I'll not draw a picture.
I would have imagined saloon doors would have been more appropriate in that regard.

I've not seriously played for months
I've played a couple of matches the 9th of November, some day in December and the 9th of February. I'm not having fun (not as killer nor as survivor)
Instead I've bought and finished several Metroidvania (Afterimage was a blast) and now I'm replaying all Souls games. I'm currently 62 hours into Elden Ring (second run) and right in front of Malenia. To relax after a few boss fights, I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3. All in all I'm having a lot of fun.
After this, there are about 800 other games I own and have never play on Steam, a bunch on the PS5 and I don't even know how many on Epic and on Gog.
I'm likely to come back to DbD some day but I'm not in a hurry.
-
All I get from this is that overall the game is pretty balanced.
This also makes sense to me because I'm not good at survivor yet my solo queue is nowhere as bad as some are saying. I was wondering if I was just lucky. Apparently my matches are the norm.
edit Found the source.
So as it is pointed on the very page with these numbers. I'm paraphrasing: SWF4 may have a lower numbers than expected because friends are more likely to sacrifice themselves to save another.
-
Pig Buff? Who said that? It's a very obvious nerf.
-
8 months is as much "almost 1 year" as 4 feet is "almost 6 feet".
-
Impossible is a pretty strong word.
I had a couple of accidental "tunnels" in my games as killer but mostly against teams with multiple instances of the same survivor.
Other matches? No tunnel.
It's thus not impossible.
Next time say "more difficult".

A mixed bag, as in various degrees of awful, yes
In my experience, how awful the solo match will be is correlated with how bad the teammates are. Tunneling isn't an inconvenience as much as survivors dragging the killer to hooks, generators or collaborating with him.
At least when I'm being tunneled I'm in chased (fun) and, if I go down, I'll probably never see these teammate ever again (yay).
-
@Brimp said:
MMR is. You try to play the game normally as killer and more often then not by the time you get first hook 3 gens are done leading you to tunneling on the next match.
This is exactly how it always happens for me.
I'll play several chill games and win a few. Then I'm suddenly against teams who do gens in parallel while I've only been able to find and get one survivor. They do everything right, they body-block where it counts, ... So I switch gears and I assume from that point on I'm on the sweaty plays levels "forever". (Usually until I'm fed-up and leave the game for a month or two.)
I'd like to know when I'm going in if I'm going against sweat-lords or against care-bears. That should be done when the match starts to avoid lobby dodging. That'd tell me how sweaty I need to be.
I don't want to play competitive but I'm very competitive by nature. If I'm being pushed, I react.

How are you losing gens this has been the easiest mode for me as killer ever I think the most gens I've lost is like 2 but usually only one.
Some survivors have good tactics. And quite a few times spend a lot of time hidden. They are very difficult to find and don't mind spending 15 minutes with barely any progress. Then when the killer start to look all around and far away from the gens, they jump them, usually in parallel.

Well the ''need'' for tunneling has been tarnished quite a lot by killers using it to excuse bad gameplay. Removes the validity just like when gen-rushing was exaggerated. But you're right, it's the only effective thing against SWF. That's why I wouldn't mind a compensation for removing the playstyle.
That's not an easy one. On one hand, on principle, I'm against removing options for any side. (As much as I dislike seeing gens pop in parallel)
On the other, I like chases better than anything else in the game.
I believe, like many others apparently, than changing the rules to go for hooks instead of kills is a step in the right direction.
But as for the solution ... I'm drawing a blank. To be fair it's 00:01 here and I've been up since 02:00. I'm barely functioning.

Had a game like that last night as trapper on shattered square.
That would have been fun 😂

That tells you how many haven't got a clue about the need for tunnelling. I'm back on killer right now and I'm finally going against teams doing gens in parallel. Low score for everybody and impossible to get a kill unless I tunnel. ^_^
Thankfully, I've started with the first 3 gens popping in a 10 seconds interval. Got 2 kills in the end, the second one rage-quitting when their blocking tactic failed. (They were four Steam friends) That was pretty close though. I got him inside the gates. (Demogoron, I've assumed it was the weakest killer in this mode given the noise he makes)
Goes back to the same thing. If you go against a strong team it's the only move.
And you never know in advance what kind of team you'll get.

I prefer having an extra health state and being able to choose a safe loop over getting tunneled immediately off hook but you do you. It's fun when the pressure isn't on you to get a five gen chase because a killer (usually really good with their abilities) wants you out of the game and your team completely depends on your mind games to work.
I've played several games as survivor tonight.
Nobody was tunnelled. (I must be very lucky.)
The only annoying thing was a survivor collaborating with the killer (That was properly infuriating.)
Getting only one health state isn't really a problem. It just means I'm allowed one less mistake. I believe I'm not the only one thinking like that given how many survivors will do a gen instead of healing.

It's just a week long mode and Legion and Dcotor aren't exactly top tier killers normally. Let those killers have their time to shine in a limited time game mode.
That I agree with. The way I see it, Nurse isn't very good on that mode because of the field range feels smaller than her blink range. That's blind blink after blind blink.
I was curious about Plague and I've just played her. It wasn't a slaughter-fest but the survivors had basically the choice between 1-hit or getting range-red-puked. Finding them was almost as easy as with Doctor.
The second game was against slightly better survivors (judging by their moves and technique) and it was a slaughter. Too easy to spot them, too easy to chain with the red puke.
So, I feel like she is a bit too strong.
See it as my scientific curiosity more than anything else.

The amount of complaints has always been consistent, now it's been multiplied by a lot. People are obviously sick and tired of it affecting modifiers this badly since it's encouraged and the optimal playstyle. No one enjoys tunneling unless the killer is bad and makes mistakes or the survivor enjoys making content to post. I don't think I've seen a serious post here praising tunneling in any way.
At higher MMR levels, tunnelling is definitively needed for a chance to win. (Easy to prove: just play and keep winning then see how will it goes without tunnelling)
I don't think it's even remotely fun to do it in the average MMR. But that's because that level is a bit easy for me.
An average killer overwhelmed by a strong build & toolboxes has no choice if he wants to win.
On the survivor side I don't mind being tunnelled myself. It's the only fun part of playing survivor (that and hiding in plain sight). What else is there to be? Quick time events on generators? Meh. I'll take the fun of mind-games and of chases and if I'm being killed I'll just queue to the next match.

There's no reason to disable any killer for a week long mode that isn't meant to be balanced. If you don't enjoy the mode, don't play it. No one is forcing people to play the mode.
I'm not talking just for me. Somebody pointed out that Doctor and Legion are a bit much in this mode and I agree. And in a lesser extent it's true Plague may be too.

It makes me wonder how things would go if instead of hooks, there was cage of torment treatments and they swapped who made noise. Make healthy survivors make noise and injured survivors stay quiet.
I've wondered for the cage too. This may help survivors. (Or it may be a death sentence.)
Injured survivors have to make noise of pain though. Otherwise it removes some depth. Getting healed is more a priority in this mode.

Yeah you're a bit of a killjoy if you're bringing Legion or Doctor in.
Yes, I must say Doctor was the easiest to find survivors. It didn't help that much though. You need luck for the blast hit and the Doctor illusions have only shown the general direction once in my match.
I didn't try Legion because it felt wrong.
I wouldn't mind to see them both disabled, especially Legion.

This game mode really makes sound matter and I feel like ppl don't get that. Survivors need to stay away from loud noise notifications spots as much as possible and heal up away from hook. 90% of tracking is from sound now.
I certainly hope it didn't take them more than a match or two to understand because it should be quite obvious. If they don't get it ...
I mean, the generators are already making noise at the start just so the killer can't immediately rely on this. That should be a pretty strong clue.
-
So far : Nurse, Doctor, Myers, Billy, Trapper, Knight, Good Guy
The most difficult was Nurse because blinks usually need to bring you at the limit of the field of view. That leaves very little reaction time and good survivors can bamboozle you more easily.
Doctor was the easiest thanks to his detection.
Good guy has probably given a couple of heart attacks.

Congrats for not experiencing what the majority of people here have I guess
I believe that's just a variation on the survivor bias theme. (As in the selection bias, not the survivors survivor)
People generally don't make post about NOT being tunneled. You see how using the amount of complains compared to the amounts of not-complains doesn't tell anything.

@Hannacia said:
My biggest issue on survivor side is that when you actually see the killer its too late to run away usually. Unless you have juicy pallet right next to you.
Otherwise i do like it. It actually brings the scary factor back and ive gotten jumpscared so many times. It just feels like quite often i get caught and all i can do is take a hit or go down if injured.
The best survivor who went against me usually have the time to do a few meters and if I come from the "wrong" side it's enough to vanish into the darkness.
If I hit them, they can use the speed boost to disappear from my field of vision and make me lose track. It depends a bit on the map and the local layout. Lery's is kind of easier to find survivors in this mode.
I feel that when there are only 2 survivors left, even with 1 gen remaining, it's very difficult to survive. Ideally, at least 3 survivors should be alive with one gen left to have a good chance.
-
Survivors realize soon enough they can exploit the complete lack of information and the limited field of vision of the killer.
This mode solely relies on mind-games and stealth tactics. It doesn't suit every player.
Beside, it's more for the fun of the horror vibe than anything else.
-
I can say for a fact there has been no tunneling at all for any of the matches I've played yesterday.

Like I said; Killer is boring af in lights out (for all the wrong reasons on top).
Boring? The one thing this mode brings is a definitive need for skills and mind-games because you can't rely on none of the usual things : no track marks, no vision, no perks.
The survivor side is almost the same except tools are still available.
I'm enjoying this thoroughly but I've always loved mind games and I didn't wait for this to play perk-less.
-
I've come back to the game just for this and I'm enjoying it a lot.
-
I tend to use aura perks more than anything else.
As far as I'm concerned, "Distortion" is the best perk any survivor can take to go against me as killer.

Map reveals you the location of generators, totems and chests. In other words whatever ''advantage'' killer has over survivors in this mode is essentially nullified because now both survivors and killers know the location of key objectives on the map. With no scratch marks and large number of medkits or flashlights, hit and run doesn't do much so if you'll try to play nice on certain killers, you will get rolled over instead in no time.
The mode itself is fun, but certain things kinda tip the scales into one side or another a bit too much and too often.
Oh, I see. Thanks.
-
Good guy : survivors kept running into me because they didn't immediately realise I wasn't chasing anymore. ^_^
Knight : I didn't manage to surprise them on gens, but I've used the guards to detect their direction in a chase, push them, and intercept from the other side ^_^

Lost survivors a couple of times.

It's been extremely disappointing for me.
I did expect it to happen, but I was hoping the camping and tunneling would come on Day 2, not immediately.
Not exactly a fun experience as Survivor, I'm sure it's great on a lot of Killers.
It just absolutely destroys any opportunity to play outside of a 4-man. You need the coordination to have information and you also need to stop the inevitable tunnel out.
I play it as casual as possible. I can't understand someone playing that mode competitive.
That being said, even trying to spread the pain as much as possible I've made a couple of early kills by mistake. For some reason I find it more difficult to keep track of who's been hooked.

Finally only skill matters! No one can complain that the other side got carried by perks or addons.
I feel I'll be crushed after a few wins. As soon as the survivors learn how to hide and exploit the lower range I'm toast xD
I've not dared to play survivor yet myself. You know I don't consider myself to be very good, and I'm probably worse now : I've not played that side since our last game. ^_^;;;
-
I'll start with the Nurse because she is my main on the Killer side.
Also, in my opinion, stealth is a great tactic against Nurse. Survivors will have better chance that if I play, say, a stealth killer. (I think.)
But vulpixia has made what I believe is a valid a remark about Lights out. The TL/DR is that Legion is probably the best killer in this context.
-
I've seen videos about the communities of other games.
Among them there was "League of Legends".
Compared to them, the members of the Dead by Daylight community are care bears. Pink ones.
-
How about all of them?
I could complain about many things in Dead by Daylight but the fact is that I always come back to it : sometimes after 3 months, sometimes after 9 months.
And when I start "fresh" again, I'm always having a lot of fun.
The other games? Dead and buried as far as I'm concerned.

From what I gather, the spikes will start showing as a warning that a gen is getting close to hitting its limit (not just when it has already hit that limit), and it's supposed to be 8 events per gen.
I may have kicked the gens once or twice after the spikes indeed.
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3643823#Comment_3643823
It’s not 8 total, it’s 8 per generator. If you kick a specific gen 8 times then you can’t kick that one anymore, but the other gens won’t be affected. Any regression perk that removes at least 2.5% progress from the gen also counts (so Surge, Pain Res, and Eruption count, but Ruin does not).
Additionally, Killer kick regression is now 5% instead of 2.5% and survivors can’t gen-tap to stop regression anymore.
Eight time per gen seems fine for a match. I believe I've hit the limit because I've dropped MMR after so much time and my matches are on the newbie side.

Still should, what killer were you using for this to occur?
It's not killer specific. Since I've not played for a long while I'm pitted against survivors who tend to either run as soon as I look in their general direction, or survivors who move five meters and try to hide in a corner or a bush.
And since I use "nowhere to hide" I tend to kick generators a lot.
I don't see the limit as a big problem mind you. I can adapt. Worst case I limit myself to a few chase-oriented killers.

You mean that that kick limit it's only 8 times for all generators? 8 kicks per game?
I got that with 3 gens left.
Survivors flee immediately when I'm still far. They are too far to pursue. I kick the gen and I go to the next one.
I guess kicking isn't a thing I should do then.

Usually I'd suggest playing only killer to encourage the devs looking at the problem (if many players decide not to play survivor anymore).
Did I miss something with the flashlights? Last time I've played they had been considerably buffed. Timings were so generous my mother could probably manage them.
That being said, I'd enjoy fun game modes. I plan to come back to the game for the "Lights out" event see how it goes.
