Already assuming I'm a Killer main huh? You could at least bother to check my posts and easily see that I'm not one, but alright. This "tech" has been complained about for a while, this isn't some knee jerk reaction to hug tech being removed. You can see that the video above is more than year old. If you're going to defend this tech then by all means, please tell me why it's fair? Genuinely curious as to what your argument is.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwF8OY5Ff9s

You should know that anyone using a "killer/survivor main/community" argument has nothing of value to say.

I wonder how many players limit themselves to half the game (and thus never properly learn how to play)

That's not what crouch teching is. Crouch teching is abusing the fact that the hitboxes in DBD are badly designed and in return your able to completely avoid a hit just by crouching.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQnzET5nL_Q

Incredible. I've never heard about this before.

  • Simple: if the survivors don't touch a gen, destroy a totem, are in a chase, after one minute (or something) then their position is revealed and keep being revealed at regular interval until the situation is remedied.

As for all the "catch-up mechanic" and "no win situation" comments: the only hope survivors should have at that point is to either be able to manage doing a gen (not impossible, especially now that the killer can't kick more than 8 times) or find the hatch when they are the last one alive. Anything else would be as bad as giving a catch-up mechanic for the killer when he is falling behind.

  • If I play killer seriously*, I start consistently getting cheaters after getting 20 to 30 wins in a row. I'm guessing that's on the higher MMR side.

On the survivor side, I'm average at best so high MMR is out of the question.

*) I've stopped playing seriously maybe a year ago. First, I play about one evening a month, if that. Second I see no point aiming for a win if all it gets me is going against more cheaters.

  • I only see downsides with these invisible walls.

  • As many have already pointed out, the trials are created by the Entity. Reality and accuracy are not a factor.

  • I'm telling you, with this idea you'd better have No Mither or Unbreakabble equipped.

Because I guarantee you it will be a slug fest.

  • You'll get them (and thus reach 4M). Spend them before the next match though.

That''s the reason for the change in the patch notes. You'll no longer be able to cancel unhooks in order to stop people from spamming it to BM.

I agree with OP. It's a rather pointless change and the unhook spam is basically a non-issue.

Oh, to be rude to other survivors. I get it now. Thanks.

  • I don't think so. That would probably be Trapper. (Although I think this year Doctor got the lowest kill rate, dethroning the Nurse for the first time.)

I don't recall having trouble as him but I've not played him for a very long time. (As far as rangers go, I fare way worse using birdie.)

  • It would be nice if the view wasn't obstructed and the sound was less loud indeed.

  • How did you made the link between not being able to cancel an unhook and survivors attempting to be rude?

  • @DaddyMikeyMori said:

LOL I have never in my two or three years of playing this game seen anyone do this. Not EVER. I've been missing out!!!

    Never saw it in five.

The only "bad" thing that happened to me, maybe four or five times, was a killer hitting me on the hook.

And the "bad" is in quotes because since he is was wasting time on me, the team could progress gens uninterrupted.

  • The only time I nod at as survivor it's after he nods at me (usually because I'm letting him go)

The only time I shake my head at a survivor is to tell him that move he just did was a bad idea and not to be tried again.

There are no other head interactions as far a I'm concerned.

  • I suggest you immediately switch to killer.

Let's see how you feel once you reach your difficulty level.

  • And I suppose you speak of your experience using it?

    Let's see …

    • Hex (bones, anyone?)
    • Only used during a short time in the end game
    • Easily guessable because the killer has played with only 3 perks for the whole match
    • That makes its own totem visible soon after it activates so even the most inept survivor can find it easily.

Oh yeah, that spells certain death. 🤣

Seriously, who has got an issue with NOED after a couple hundred hours?

  • Well, if you speak of Freddy mains, the first name that comes to mind is @GeneralV

Oh, I've noticed something with the lunges too. It felt longer than expected quite a few times. But then again I play about once a month now so it may be just me forgetting how it's supposed to be.

The only reason I watched the video was because CoconutRTS mentioned it. Good that he has still fun in the game.

I was just wondering why no one criticizes the video? But this happened now, thx Blighted Dolphin. This is exactly what I thought but couldn't write.

You're posting a video and say: Ok, I can almost agree to every point in the video, BUT I'm not telling you which one.

And other posting things that has nothing to do with the video.

The only thing I can partly agree is the anon mode. But it's very nice against stream sniper, aswell. Removing the Anon mode makes no difference if there are still the mass of alt accounts.

The part I don't agree with are details and unimportant. The main reason I've shared this video is because I expect a lot of "veterans" might agree or at least be interested. As for the newer players, it may make them think.

The main part is the skill ceiling of course. And in a way it's a surprise because intuitively I'd say "fair" is the best thing to aim for. But in hindsight, I'm convinced "fair" is sterile. This game got hugely successful being unfair. And, as frustrated as I've been with DbD over the years, I've got way more fun.

One other the thing said that resonated with me was when one of them say "why should I try to learn such or such thing when I know it may be for naught". I've felt that several times these past few months.

As a Nurse main, on the killer side, I'm very annoyed I can't be light-burnt anymore. I loved to go against opponents able to stop me like this. It was exhilarating. It was also a humbling experience because I've always been bad at flashing killers. (Before they made is so my old mother could succeed.)

These are just examples. I could write a wall about all this.

You can't destroy Hag traps with flashlights anymore. Just letting you know in case you're dodging teams with flashlights.

Edit: just realized you're OP, so you'd know that. You confused me by talking in present tense.

Indeed, I should have used the past tense. Sometimes my native language gets in the way …

  • @Dreamnomad said:

I hate these types of posts. It's always BS excuses. The reason you've lost interest in the game is because you have played it too much and now you are bored of it. Players need to learn there is no perfect version of any video game. Whatever problem you perceive to be in this game is exactly why another person loves it. Hypothetically speaking, if BHVR were to go to great lengths to make whatever changes you personally think need to be made, you would still get bored of the game eventually and now BHVR has spent tons of resources to try and make your ideal version of the game only to alienate other players. It is natural to get bored of anything you've done too much. Take a break or quit but don't make lame excuses as to why you are doing those things.

It may come as a shock but not everybody is like you. A lot of people don't get bored easily and have a never-ending attention span.

I'm the textbook clinical case of not getting bored. I have a condition. The only reason I stop doing something, anything, is if that something changes to the point it's not interesting or a challenge anymore. That's what DbD is becoming : uninteresting, dull, unchallenging.

I'll eat the same meals, wear the same clothes, do the same job (never boring), play the same game. I don't see the need for change, ever. I've got almost half a century of data saying so.

I've stopped playing DbD after thousands of hours because of the changes they did to neuter the fun in the game, that's all there is to it.

  • @Hexonthebeach said:

Lobby dodging is better than Balancing? 😐️

Yes, playing the same game over and over can lead into taking a break from it.

I like CoconutRTS he is one of the most creative dbd streamer but dbd is far from being a flat heartbeat.

Yes, actually. When you play as Hag (given that was the example) you know you are in a bad place if you go against four flashlights so you dodge if you don't want the challenge.

That's way better than destroying her by making everybody able to destroy traps easily.

Have you noticed we never get Michi videos anymore? It feels like even the best Hag out there has given up.

And about taking a break playing the same game over and over. If DbD wasn't getting neutered I could play thousands more hours without getting bored.

I only stop playing games that are changing for the worst.

I'm pretty sure I'm not unique in that.

Do you really want to go back to the days when there were only a few viable killers even against solo queue players?

Nobody said to go back in time. Removing "techs" isn't the way, that's all.

Reminder: 360 are a tech too. Imagine if they were removed? (And I think they've tried that and got buried for it.)

  • Spanking them a bit, taking care not "killing" them too fast.

I slowly go up to 8 hooks and, if they've not given up, I let them out.

On the killer side, I'm often playing the Nurse. I wouldn't feel good crushing beginners with her.

  • In my opinion Freddy is on the weak side.

The matches you describe are usually what happens when a 3K hours Nurse verses beginners. (Including the part where she sits in a corner : there is no pleasure destroying helpless players)

Also, realize there are a lot of players. One guy sitting in the corner to be nice will not skew the statistics. It's weird you think the guy is doing that for his benefice when he is most likely just letting you go out of pity.

  • They'll probably do it at the same time they punish laggy survivors.

I see these straight-running-teleporting-back, can't-be-hit players way more often that I have seen laggy killers.

  • I'm not playing that much anymore but the only tea-bagger I've seen this year was an absolute noob who didn't appear to understand I was pushing him out.

Since the flashlight clicking has been fixed, I don't get these at all either. This one is more important for me because the clicking was quite annoying.

I'm kind of lucky I guess.

Disabling a killer's power for 30-40 seconds? I am sorry, but what? I don't always agree with Otz, but never have I heard him say something that makes me say what the heck is he thinking?

I've suspected for a while he was saying whatever would bump-up his followers. He says to many things that make no sense.

I'm glad the devs are not listening to streamers. Listening this one and a few other's opinion would ruin the game.

I've actually had more luck as survivor than killer. 3 gens are pretty quick to do and pallets are still potent.

That was my first match. But once I've realised I should not break pallet's, it made most chases trivially easy.

    @SuperMunchkin95 said:

So far i love the concept, I've only played the survivor and i believe it has potential. From what i can tell it may be harder to hit the survivors since they're smaller. The oni was also cool but for survivors who cant do anything on the pallets it didn't give a reason to break the pallets.

    Exactly.

It seems I'll be in the minority here, but I didn't really like it. It is just a silly little mode for April's Fools, but I don't think it is fun or enjoyable to play.

I don't believe you are in the minority. My opinion of the mode is that's an experience but I didn't enjoy it.

To quote a survivor I've versed: no thrills.

  • @Lost_Boy said:

I mean you ain't winning as two players so it's generally whoever gets caught first should just die on hook and let the other person try for hatch.

Whats really annoying though is when you have 2 people hiding and stalling the game out of saltiness or when you have people hiding in lockers when theres still 4 players alive because they think the games going bad. Nothing worse than sitting on first hook watching 2 people heal in a corner somewhere and the other person hiding in a locker.

That survivor only hid most of the game.

    @Raccoon said:

They probably recorded and reported you for teaming with the survivor to kill them, knowing the player base @_@

That would make for a nice video. All filmed inside a locker for almost a minute, moving to the locker on the left for one minute, moving to the locker on the right for one minute, …

    xD

  • Congratulations, general.

  • At first glance it looks nice overall.

Also, depip being removed is a breath of fresh air.

I always felt compelled to play harder and harder to reach rank 1.

Now I will be able to relax a bit and be nice even when in the red ranks.

    👍️

  • I usually play friendly when survivors are completely helpless and (this is important) do not give up.

I also tend to let the last one leave, tool offering or not. (But I take the offering as a "thank you".)

    That being said:

A map offering is a death sentence.

If the rift tells me to kill, I'll kill. This is pretty rare mind you.

And of course: "bully" teams are fair game : no mercy. Last time I had such a team, I've ignored the runner to kill everyone else, made him watch (he was never far) and killed him last.

I need to point out "bullies" are my favorite kind of opponents.

The devs knew SM was busted for a year because they have the data, and they did nothing. How is any killer with a 70% kill rate not being hotfixed asap. This game can no longer be taken seriously as a competitive game.

It has never been a competitive game.

  • I've barely played for five months so I'm pretty rusted.

My first killer match was with Huntress, a killer I was average with. I got pitted against organised survivors. It didn't go very well.

Since the game didn't cut me any slack for my return, I've switched to the Nurse : my main killer that I handle ... adequately.

I've consistently got pitted against beginners and, needless to say, even rusted I've wiped the floor with them. I did my best to let them all live as all I cared was the tome.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

Did you steal the droplet from her? If you don't injure/down her with your basic attack, it doesn't steal the survivor's droplet. If you're already carrying two droplets, it doesn't steal the survivor's droplet.

If you did steal the droplet and it didn't complete the challenge, then that sounds like a bug.

Yes, that's he basic attack part that I missed, thanks. I've just got an eureka moment after hitting a survivor with a special attack, put her back on her feet and downed her with a basic attack while she was looking at me incredulous xD. (I've let them all escape after that.)

    @MaddieMage said:

I’ve tried two challenges that are bugged on my end. I stole the droplet from the killer by stunning them (did this one twice) , and I hooked 3 survivors as the killer (did this one three times) and I get the gold completion bar during the match. After the match it shows as incomplete.

First one didn't try yet, second one worked for me.

Trinkets come from the event tome, which are pretty easy challenges. Though I will say this event is slightly underwhelming even if I like the aesthetic of it.

Thanks. The thing is the tome wasn't there the first time I've started the game. Some glitch or something.

I despise the aesthetic: all that red makes survivors very hard to track. (Probably better when I'll play the other side ...)

  • About "heal tech", with the devs seemingly against no-counterplay moves, this one sure takes time to be fixed.

  • I am seldom being tunneled myself. I don't mind when it happens though. Chases are more fun than playing quick-time-event on the generators.

As killer the only case where I would "tunnel" on purpose is if gens are almost gone and I need a kill only if to slow them down.

There is of course the involuntary case where survivors are (almost) clones. But I'd call that a self-inflicted wound.

  • Going against a four-squad is usually sweaty but I'll take a bully squad over any other kind of team.

They are always trying to make the killer miserable.

They always die in the end.

I've more fun against them than against no-heal-gen-rushers.

Give me your bully squads. 😋

  • You just have been matched with a player with too much experience for you.

Survivors can dodge hatchets and orbitals when they pay attention.

  • @Hexonthebeach said:

Don't allow healing past the exit gates. Then Killer could have a chance to pick the survivor up.

That would have the additional advantage that survivors wouldn't linger so much.

  • @BlackRabies said:

Discussing about how to improve security and combat hacking on a public forum isn't really a smart thing. It's just giving the hackers. "Hey they're gonna be doing this and improve that. Thanks for the heads up on what we need to break now." It's better just to leave it to the devs themselves behind closed doors and doing the mass ban wave every month or so.

Banning the cheaters too quickly just tells them or give them a good idea what triggered the ban and they can work around it. A monthly or so mass ban wave makes it far more difficult for them to figure out why and screws them over which we all would want.

It doesn't matter one bit. Security by secrecy has always been considered pretty weak.

And if the devs go with a server-side solution, no amount of preparation will help them.

  • @TerraEsram said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3670781#Comment_3670781

I know that "kernel anti cheat" is just one of the worst idea possible for a multiplayer game, and we get lot of example of that where it just go wrong

But, know that you say that, did Behavior talk about the same idea than your's one times on a live?

I wouldn't know. I'm usually taking updates as text on this site.

If they did, that would be good news.

    edit:

And they probably know it's the best solution. It's pretty basic knowledge, at least for people working in this field. It's just more costly than "dumb" servers. (More computations, more power/servers needed.)

  • The devs have the actual statistics. They don't rely on the off 10K hours players going against people with little experience.

Funny thing, on these stats Nurse is one of the worst killers in the game ^_^ (Second worst this time)

You'll also find many players having no issue going against Nurse (myself included). It's only a matter of mind-games and reaction time.

I'm having more trouble against Legion myself.

  • Especially since that kind of AC is basically worthless against organised cheaters.

  • @TerraEsram said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3670767#Comment_3670767

This solution can be a problem, no? If the cheater modify the other survivor or the killer, the server can think that they cheat, and not the actual cheater, or I'm wrong?

No because the server knows what packet/message comes from what client. So if an order has been given to do "bad" to the server, that person can immediately be flagged.

(This assumes the IP of a client is never given to another. That should never occur in a sane world.)

Also, in case of doubt, they can keep statistics per account to aggregate this kind of shenanigans.

  • @Nick said:

I've had a quite obvious speedhacker two days ago. Reported the person in-game, clipped the game, added an ingame screenshot, filed a report at the dbd customer service including clip+screenshot. Received an email back + report feedback that action has been undertaken.

The thing is, this player was extremely bad and the cheating was quite obvious. I've spectated a game once playing survivor after I had died and saw a fellow survivor fly towards generators when far away from the killer. Now how would you prove that as killer player? Only reason I could see that is because I was spectating and the cheater either forgot or simply didnt care.

A very obvious helping tool would be a replay function where you can rewind the whole match and view the game from all perspectives, maybe even a freecam function. But this is probably not possible with this engine/code they have. Would elevate the game an insane amount though

I've stopped doing that since that match where two obvious teleporters I reported with a video weren't banned after the ticket was closed. (I've kept their steam IDs, I could check.)

I think that's also when my interest for the game dropped significantly.

I was contemplating playing a match or two today (it has been almost a month and I've been playing a couple of hours every hours for a while now) but just watching this thread has dissuaded me from doing so.

I'll spare you the details (because it's probably not a good idea to do so) but no.

There is one rule in security: the server is always right. They can cheat all they want, if their action is invalid and flagged they are out.
