While this is true in some cases it is not the majority of the time. Yes a team could be winning but the individual survivor will lose on their next down. When they do go down they DC. This can be regardless of being the 3rd hook overall or the 9th hook.

If survivors mainly DC because of losing why do so many DC or take the easy route on first hook of the match? I've even seen it where the killer goes after each survivor evenly and the fourth one to go down DCs.

    I see this pretty often.

I play nice, round-robin the survivors and when I'm on the third rounds I get one or two DCs. Why? It would have been over in about 30 seconds.

  • It is my understanding that outfits for licensed killers require further collaboration and permission from the licence holders.

    That limits the possibilities.

Also, I'm guessing such skins may also be deemed too be ultimately too expensive to be worth the hassle.

  • Nobody cares about TCM.

    Also, graphics are irrelevant.

  • It seems to have been made even worse recently.

I often hit "wood" in the middle of nowhere, with the survivor right in front of me.

If I turn and there is a wall, I'm guaranteed to hit it.

    It's stupid.

    If it's about lag/desync:

    • either the survivor is in front of me, and I should it
    • either he isn't (which is weird with my 30ms ping vs suvivors with 100+ms pings) and I should hit nothing

hitting some invisible obstacle is bollocks.

  • I want Chaos Mode to be forever.

It's way more fun than the normal mode.

It adds variability, silly situations, …

It brinks back some of the fun chaos the devs have progressively removed from the game.

Yes, this is the problem. Instead of implementing it like "with crossplay off you get matched with players from your platform" they did this "you get only matched with other people with crossplay off", which just makes no sense. It seems they did so deliberately, so that people are forced to play with crossplay on. Now if you want to play with only people from your platform, you will be better off just dodging lobbies until you get what you need, it works much better than that "crossplay off" option.

I suspect they did it that way because otherwise it would mean cross-play off players, by their presence, would essentially block a lobby and finding the right "pool" would be more computationally expensive. It would also make cross-play on players essentially hostages waiting for longer for no good reason when they are grouped with a cross-play off player.

So instead there are two queues: off and on.

It's simple, easy, and doesn't "punish" cross-play on players who randomly felt with a cross-play off one.

    That's the best solution.

I just got a bully squad with Billy that I didn't feel like facing and got myself a 15 minute ban. So yeah, I think that's enough of this mode for me. It would be fun, but I've realised I don't enjoy playing killer without my beloved Lightborn.

I'm just going to finish the tome and never touch it again until they add some matchmaking.

Given this mode gives you random builds, losing wouldn't annoy me so much.

On my matches, survivors managed to get several flash-saves and a couple of well timed sabotages. I just focused on making them pay. Even if you can't get all of them, you can at least get one, or two.

Given the builds are random, you can almost safely bet Unbreakable and Decisive Strike are off.

Idk if it's off, but I think I only lost a few matches (maybe 2-3) as killer. I got a "bully"-squad with 4 flashlights with twins that got completely destroyed with 3 gens left, so at least they can't be too good xD

In my experience, "bullies" die fast. They are often too focused on trying to be a nuisance and they only need to make one mistake to lose.

I love them and not because they lose : because the change of pace they bring makes the game more interesting.

  • @Malkhrim said:

I don't think it's off because I'm still facing people as skilled/comitted to winning as ever. They still do gens really efficiently, there is still a styptic agent ALMOST EVERY GAME, they still bring map offerings… in other words, they play efficiently while still bringing the strongest stuff they can, except for the perks that are random.

Oh yes, I got a lot of map offerings, bunch of toolboxes, "bullies", …

Still nuked them all. (I even got insulted by one of the "bullies".)

Maybe like @CorvusCorax86 suggests, too many are used to play META and can't adjust.

I had a few troublesome matches, but I only had to turn-up the heat (a.k.a tunnel one out when 2 gens were left) to get the upper hand.

    It has to be off.

    Use wallhack perks.

It is only the 5 free killers: Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse and Huntress

    Thanks

I guess I'm lucky, Nurse and Huntress and the killers I play the most.

  • The site is broken:

    • refuses my account,
    • refuses to make an account using the same email as this account,
    • wants me to give the country but the list is empty

After the about 40 minutes it took to finally reach the link, the keys were gone.

There is no direct way to delete the account so I plan to delete the associated mailbox instead.

  • I've missed that part of the stream.

Did they say which killers would be in or out?

  • It sounds like an interesting idea.

However gates must never be close if they do this.

  • Well DUH.

That's already a typical tactic when one doesn't use gen defense perks.

    Is that a problem?

  • Killers need to improve? Who doesn't?

You are talking mostly about beginners though.

There are many ways to win but even being rushed, there are ways to counter.

As killer, I main Nurse but I also play other killers. It generally goes well with a good half of roster. I'm no beginner: I've got more than 3.5K hours in total : Steam (killer mostly) + Epic (when I don't want to be asked to play with friends) + PS5 (survivor mostly).

Yesterday for the rift, I've played The Artist: a killer I don't like and don't even fully understand.

It was in the saloon map. It wasn't going very well and not only because I was trying to do that stupid challenge. By the time I've got my first hook, three generators had popped almost simultaneously. (So about 90 seconds in: they had toolboxes.)

I didn't really care but I've decided to take that opportunity to do a small experiment. I've tunneled and proxy-camped the survivors one by one (Something I never do as I care more about having fun chasing than anything else.)

As bad as I am with that killer I've wiped them out with relative ease.

Two of them were raging in the end game chat, saying very nasty things. Something that makes no sense to me as for one, they didn't play easy by doing these gens so fast and for two, why would I be bound by made-up rules?

    All this to say:

I'm pretty sure that by playing "nasty", a killer can almost always win, or at least close to that 60% target ratio.

I don't plan to try though.

I also need to say I've got many tactics very different from that one that aren't very enjoyable for survivors. I regularly get two to four rage-quits when I use them. (And these I do often as I see them as "applying pressure".)

He has been playing both sides on the experiment. And this isn't an "us vs them" thing, this is cheating.

I never said anything in the form of "us vs them". Read more carefully.

I've clearly stated it was giving an advantage to the survivor side.

My statement was more that this is "nothing" next to what I imagine it would be for killer. I've not watched another video. I'm only speaking from my Nurse main experience.

    Cheating, both sides.

We had this conversation a few days ago with the equalizer crap: cheating, plain and simple.

P.S.: In summary I would love for this to be banned.

  • This is shown from a survivor's perspective and, yes, there is a clear advantage.

However, tracking red feels more important as killer so I'd say this stuff will help killers more.

I mean, finding a speck of red that I wouldn't otherwise see from far away is bound to help me track survivors.

  • Ah, you are talking about auto-miss.

That's BS but I don't think they'll ever fix it.

  • @Souplet said:

    You can't really do that

People suiciding on the hook is sometimes the best option (hatch play for example).

But i do agree that people giving up is no fun and should be punished. I don't know how tho.

The amount of survivors giving up when they see me or when i beat them fast is ridiculous theses days. I feel bad for the other guys cos, what can i do besides killing them fast and go next

The hatch isn't an issue as it would only look at the first death. (There are two corner cases, including Hatch, discussed around the start of the thread.)

I have never heard that before. I tend to miss skill checks more when I play with European friends, due to the higher ping, or are you talking about hooks and skill check are different?

Basically, "QTE" in the game are local mini-games. If they "lag", it's a local problem. It happens of course (because what's not even a bit broken in this game?) but when they do, it's not (directly) because the servers are lagging.

I agree 100%, but you need to look further up the chain for that 'lack of respect'. This game went down the hole of "Ur fun is not my responsibility". And now we're stuck in a loop.

It's like the DM in AD&D decided to do the crappiest things possible to the PCs just because they can, then get angry when the PCs no longer play in character and play like asshats.

Either the power role needs to understand "with great power comes great responsibility"; or the power role needs to no longer be the power roll.

Something like…5 join up and killer is chosen at random.

The problem with the random role assignation is that more people will leave immediately because otherwise they'll play a role they don't want.

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712883#Comment_3712883

Still less effort than actually playing the game they desperately want to leave. And you can't report someone who is deliberately playing like a genuine potato survivor.

When a survivor is saved by a teammate and failed to suicide, he usually runs straight to the killer, points at him and/or to a hook.

As far as I'm concerned, that's usually when I bleed him out but that's another story.

  • @ItsRyou said:

Sorry, but if I don't want to stay in a game, you won't force me. I'm either going to die on hook or "pretend" to be bad at the game so the killer gets me 3 times.

  • @AbsolutGrndZer0 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712791#Comment_3712791

That's not true. I recently had a game were I was SWFing with a streamer who has strict rules about not DCing or giving up on hook. Well, due to a sudden bout of extreme lag I didn't run from killer as he quickly arrived to rehook me, then I missed every struggle check and died nearly instantly. The streamer was mad at first, but I swore to her that it was a bout of really bad lag, I would see if I could fix it, and if it happened again, I would quit entirely for the night. I did manage to fix the issue (forget how.)

But point is, sometimes a 'give up' or DC is not intentional. I'd say most of the time it is, but those few times it is not, are they reason that you can't blanket punish.

That's weird because the wheel is not bound to the network. It's local, so maybe there was some weird task going on on your machine.

But that wouldn't be a problem because, among the suggestions in the discussion, the system wouldn't react with the first (few) detections. You'd have been safe.

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712822#Comment_3712822

There are three distinct roles in this game: soloQ, killers and SWFs. SWFs make the game miserable for killers, and killers make the game miserable for soloQ. And since both soloQ and SWFs are in the same queue and play by the same rules, it's impossible to balance survivors in general with the killer, because of this "fork" in the balance. And nothing can be done until the devs address this core balance issue. So this Us vs Them could actually be quite beneficial for the game's health and future if in US we unite both killers and soloQ, and in THEM we put SWF and push the issue further. The simple Survivor vs Killer debate is indeed misleading.

I'd say soloQ makes soloQ miserable …

  • Lucky you.

I love going against these killer.

Instead I get SM, Ghostface, Twins, Myers, Pig … >_>

  • @SuzieMalay said:

Doesn't work that way, you cannot punish a player for using a mechanic in the game. They need to remove the unhook!!!

That's not about the 4%, that's what follows.

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712793#Comment_3712793

Of course, in this case all quitting survivors well suddenly stop attempting to leave the game, and instead will forget all the reasons why they wanted to leave, and start playing normally, slamming 'em gens and looping 'im killer like never before! And by no means will they just run to the killer after every unhook, all while dropping every pallet on their way just to spite everyone, this will never happen, right? One genial solution after another.

That would require more effort and time. Given the lack of fortitude they display, it will at the very least inconvenience them. Besides it's easier to report.

I guess it could work but saying there are bugs in the game that have been here for 5+ years on certain killers (apparently plague not losing her power when stunned was a bug for example), I highly doubt BHVR would ever go as far as to implement an entire system just to counteract toxic survivor behavior while also taking it by a case by case (as you said make 2 survivors left an exception). It's a good idea, I'm not trying to argue that, I just wouldn't have any hope for such a system in DBD anytime soon. Good idea though, I can't think of the amount of times I see a P100 in my game and I'm like this person is gonna be awesome and then they kills themself on first hook when we already completed a gen or two.

It's more to discuss the idea than for anything else. That being said BHVR in the past has invested resources in something nobody wanted.

It is a big problem for me too. I deplore it when I'm killer and it makes me angry when I'm survivor.

  • @Junylar said:

I agree with the "idea" but I think this opens up a can of worms that BHVR shouldn't go down, too many false positives

I don't know. If the system is lenient enough (see previous posts) and only look at the first kill, I don't see "false positive" problems to speak of.

And it could deter from a pretty common method used to throw matches.

  • @Krazzik said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712791#Comment_3712791

It is very obvious but you can't prove they didn't legitimately need to go afk or were somehow distracted or simply just forgot they needed to do it.

Yes, 99% of the time it's someone giving up but there can be edge cases where someone just happened to go through the same things in-game but didn't actually mean to kill themselves.

A better solution is to just remove self-unhook attempts unless you have an active Deliverance or are on basement hook with… Wicked I think it's called. Could also just remove the second stage skill checks or make it so you at least don't die after not inputting anything twice, just have the bar go down a little just when you miss one.

There is no "legitimate" need. Well, there is but it shouldn't be the game's concern. I say that as someone who already had to leave my desk to get a delivery. That's exceptional so it shouldn't be an issue.

Forgetting to do it, you do it once. After that you remember.

To allow for these limit case the system wouldn't give a sanction on the first (few) offenses.

I agree removing the possibility of hook suicides entirely would be best.

  • @blastea said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712791#Comment_3712791

What about when there's 2 people left and the person on hook wants to give hatch though? Would they be punished for making themself die faster? I understand where you're coming from but I just don't think there's a feasible way to implement it without backfiring a lot.

Easily fixed by taking being only two players left into account.

Having legitimate use cases for hook-suicides beside that one would be interesting though.

I'm naturally thinking of the first elimination of the game because that's usually how it happens. I'm not even sure it should be taken into account after that first one (because if a player has given up at the start, the game is as good as over)

  • @TheArbiter said:

What do you mean by activity detector? There really is no way for the game to know if someone is trying to 4% or die on hook

    The 4%, no.

But if the player doesn't react when the wheel is on screen, he is obviously giving up.

And if he is giving up immediately after "attempting a 4%" … well, that pattern is pretty obivous.

I don't have it installed on a PC with personal information. I don't have any games on my PC that has my work stuff nor my personal information. I've seen Sony get hacked enough to be wary.

Likewise, the entire argument is ludicrous. The fact that you bit at it and thought it was a good idea just shows how ridiculous it truly is. Nobody is going to allow them to install a key logger just to ensure everyone is trying at their absolute best. Like, Jesus Christ dude.

I'd say we should HWID ban people for DC'ing, but you'd probably think that's appropriate as well.

You probably understand the vast majority of players don't use a blank computer to play games, so that's not an issue for the vast majority of users.

An hardware ban would be a bit too much for their lack of spine.

As for the activity detector (which is not a key logger, no matter how much you want to frame it that way) it's truly a good idea. It'd detect AFK and hook suicides with just a feature that'd be quite easy to implement.

I might be young, but I'm not a ######### moron.

I don't trust multi-million dollar companies to be honest with spyware. I'll not be giving them the benefit of the doubt if they try to install a key logger to ensure everyone is playing at optimal levels.

You shouldn't either and if you do, well, think about it.

What are you talking about? That feature would be part of the game program, not a separate one. If you are that wary, what are you doing with the game installed with a ring-0 anti-cheat that has already got access to all of your information? (EAC, if you don't get it)

That was a rhetorical question. It's apparent you don't have a firm grasp of the tech behind all this.

The point is: checking activity to detect sore losers and quitters may be a good idea.

We could argue at length about design ideologies, and methodologies to achieve this… but the philosophy remains the same:

BHVR should make it obvious that a survivor that escape is a "win" for all other survivors.

You might believe the game just needs to reward players for these actions, I might believe the game needs to be completely redesigned to ingrain teamwork in survivor gameplay from start to finish.

    It's neither here nor there.

The point is that BHVR needs to do something to cultivate teamwork between solo survivors.

    Indeed.

    Talk about entitled, jeez.

You don't understand the difference between capturing all the keys and input from a machine and sending them to a server and monitoring game-specific input to check activity?

    • Description of the issue: Switching to a toolbox while Potential Energy is active (at least 1 Token) doesnt consume the toolbox even though it speeds up the Tokengain. After a short test in some custom games, this can save up to 15 seconds (no other perks used).
    • Steps to reproduce (worked 4/4 times as of now):

-Start working on a gen without using the toolbox
-Activate Potential Energy and get at least 1 Token
-Immediatly stop repairing and switch to repairing with the tool box
-Repair until potential energy has 20 stacks (toolbox wont be consumed in the process)
    -put in all 20 stacks
-immediatly switch back to repairing without the toolbox
    -repeat

By using an Engineer's Toolbox with Socket Swivels and Clean Rag, you can get a gen done in roughly 66 seconds (not using other perks and being solo). Using the toolbox normally would require roughly 80 seconds to repair a gen.
    • How often does this occur: Everytime you make use of it

  • Don't be ridiculous. Simply keeping track of gaming input to see if someone is even trying is nowhere close to being a spyware.

  • @Royal I don't think you are allowed to name the guy here. You should probably edit his name out.

That being said I think BHVR should sue him into oblivion.

  • I don't think there is a link there. Using exploits is scummy, end of story.

I'd expect most skilled players don't do it.

Are we seriously surprised that Survivors are at each other's throats?

Does anyone here honestly expect their teammate to hold their hand and sing kumbaya when the prisoner's dilemma dictates that defection will always result in a better payoff than cooperation?

    You want to see change?

    Hold BHVR accountable.

Stop tolerating game designs like hatch, left behind, sole survivor, and low profile, which promote teammate-abandonment.

Stop tolerating comments like "why should I die just because my teammates are bad?"

    4 Survivors. 1 Team.

Give survivors a reason to be a team player.

I'm not sure how much I agree with your general message, but there is essentially one important point in it IMHO.

BHVR should make it obvious that a survivor that escape is a "win" for all other survivors.

Doing an hook exchange should be rewarded.

Sacrificing oneself so someone else can escape the trial should be rewarded.

I really enjoy these attempts to force people to play.

Can't wait for them to install key trackers to make sure you're really trying your best!

YOU WILL BE FORCED TO SWEAT AT MAXIMUM OUTPUT OR ELSE YOU RISK A BAN! PLEASE DO NOT RESIST!

Instead of addressing the why, let's just address the symptoms, like always. Surely that'll work this time.

I don't think they can fix the entitlement. However that key analyzer thing seems interesting.

  • From my perspective, the only time I'd ally with a "rat" is if the other survivor is a parasite who has done nothing but hide, never helped and/or tried to sabotage his team. That's extremely rare though.

Otherwise, I'd kill the rat on the spot and put the other one out. I don't remember when that last happened. Months if not years ago.

I'm inclined to believe it happens though, as I've seen a popular streamer complain about dishonorable survivors working against their team when they were about to get killed. Despicable behavior.
