Yeah there's a lot of unskilled killers that apparently have never ever played survivor and don't know or care what it feels like to get singled out just so they can have a better game.

Yes, killers don't know what it's like to get singled out - oh wait, they are singled out every game. How many Rank 1 SWF games have I played where I didn't even get a single hook? "They didn't care for my feelings". In that case it's because I suck and need to get better.

But if we tunnel out a survivor, then it's us being unskilled.

Why did you get hooked in the basement? That's your fault. IMO, a basement hook should be devastating. It's the only hook that I will often be more likely to proxy camp, because it's intended to be hard to get the save.

You also have to gauge where the game is at any given point - if there are 4 left and 2 gens remaining, and you have an opportunity to tunnel out a survivor - do it. Sometimes games just go like that. If you play enough survivor you'd realize it rather than just complaining.

  • An easy fix to the nerf would be to make all totems look the same. Survivors wouldn't know whether or not they should be done or if they were the real hex.

    Are there other hooks? Yes

Are there other exits to the basement? No

    Grow tf up lmao

There's also death in the basement. That's an option.

If you didn't pick up on it, I was being sarcastic. Body blocking is an allowed mechanic, whether to make you die on the hook or prevent someone from being hooked.

If I know the other survivor is hiding I find the hatch and make sure if killer downs me it's next to the hatch. Sometimes they close hatch and kill that survivor, sometimes they decide to give that survivor the hatch.

It Is glorious when you and the survivor are standing over hatch together and you slam it on them. Thank God the devs let that happen.

  • @Clevite said:

Yeah, I always work on objectives until I am dead. Work on chases when I am spotted.

But, please killers, when you keep finding me doing gennys, hook me.

I don't want to lie on the ground while you search for the cowardly #########. Let me start a new match!

I wish the hatch didn't exist but that's the issue, obviously. Sorry it sucks.

  • While you try to learn the game, learn to mute the dozens of toxic survivor messages you will receive telling you how bad you are, etc.

When good nurses for example play a different killer they rarely play, they can fill in these holes

That doesn't make up for the fact there is is a total imbalance of killers to survivors. Unless MMR encourages more noob killers to switch, either survivor queue times will get worse or the game will still stick you in with a red rank Swf after they wait 20min.

  • @Zeus said:

MMR should hopefully alleviate this issue.

How would it? The issue is a lack of killers.

Agreed. It can be abused and at worst can lead to the killer holding the game hostage and at best an exploit that forced survivors to either dc or be sacrificed due to end game.

There are many places where the game can be held hostage, it is against the rules. What is being described in this post is not against the rules and is similar to survivor body blocking which is allowed. Not a bug.

Did you seriously think this was an okay response to a player literally blocking a gameplay mechanic of rescuing team mates, you can defend hook but making it outright physically impossible to get to hook for the save is game breaking! This isn't an, I'm entitled to my 4 man escape, its, a player was exploiting a design flaw to make someone elses gameplay experience miserable. Grow up man.

I recall many times where I am literally blocked by several survivors trying to do a hook.

    Do seriously think that's okay?

Also, ruin/undying isn’t dead. There’s a 50/50 shot they hit undying first now anyways. Banking on a perk combo to carry ruin/undying to the last 4/5 totems is admitting one’s lack of skill. That’s okay, 100%. But recognize that peeps, instead of externalizing onto a perk combo, the devs, etc.

I have a video of red rank 1 swf taking out 3 totems in first 25 seconds today while I was playing killer.

Hexes will be for the green ranks.

At least with Undying today you cleaned dull totems in case the hex moved to it later. Now you never have to clean dull totems except for Noed! Huge advantage!

DS has actually been nerfed five times.

Is that why lullaby is getting a buff with undying essentially?

    quit this nonsense whining

What buff to undying? No such thing exists. You mean nerf.

  • I have stopped killer maining because it's so bad. Losing a hook or extending a chase as killer due to lag just means 3 others keep doing gens.

  • @Galklife said:

    a) if you dont like playing vs PC players TURN OFF CROSSPLAY... you can do it... no reason to rant about it

    b) so youre carring about Tbag when you tunneled 1st surv you met hmmm (i would tell its quite normal behavior, to make tunneler as upset as tunneled person), if they werent SWF they couldnt know even if they were why are you so sure he was blinding you just because youre console (surv can try to blind you mid chase just to distract you)

    c) yes you lost because of SWF, those Tbags and clicking flashlight gave them repair boost

    d) right now MM literally doesnt work, and every rank can get every rank, im purple rank right now (on both surv and killer) and on surv soloque i get red rank killers and R20 lobbies (right after each other) more times than purple lobbies, on killer i get red rank survs(and half of the games are still free 4k's because survs are dumb and surv rank doesnt mean sh) oh and if someone wants to hit on my current rank colors (for about a year im playing on avg 20h per month)

Turning off cross play leads to 20 minute or longer matches in my experience as killer.

  • @pseudechis said:

yeah undying and devour is now a viable option. I'm looking forward to no having to baby sit my totem as much.

So you think they will not see ruin and just ignore your flaming totem? Good luck with that.

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

Tonight I’ve read threads about Undying change being a debilitating nerf and now reading about it being too OP. Sounds about right :)

The people saying undying will be OP are just ignorant. The lack of aura reading on your hex is a deal breaker. They are green rank survivors.

Killers will try it for a few weeks but soon all will run pop/oppression/corrupt/bbq. Mark it.

  • @Midori_21 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1899013#Comment_1899013

Um, every reason why not. Why would they give survivors gen auras basekit?

I was being sarcastic. Even a totem counter is another benefit to survivors.

  • @Midori_21 said:

Amazingly when they created the new hud they didn't seem to think about adding a totem counter, when so many people have asked for it for so long.

Yeah, and base kit aura reading of the location of all gens and totems for all survivors too. Why not?

  • Noed is the only thing keeping dull totems around after 4.5. If they nerf noed then you might as well just ignore every dull dotem.

  • As a Twins main, you cant stay on Victor for too long for any significant chase. It happens occasionally but usually signifies I am losing that match.

Victor should be out and downing within 15-20 seconds. If we want to bicker about points, sure, but as others pointed the huge issue with Victor is that you lose all of your perk benefits. Eg you'll ever know if someones doing totems with Undying.

  • @Kellie said:

How about you just close it instead of dragging out the match for no reason.

Why didn't the survivor use it to escape?

Sounds like this survivor was camping a gate and was pissed you didn't close the hatch for them.

  • Unfortunately because we never know what group of survivors we might get, it seems common to expect the worst group of survivors, at least at the high ranks. It sometimes takes me a minute or two to assess which group I have - a sweaty SWF of 1s and 2s, or a mixed bag? The latter gives you more room for fun.

The problem is that it's acceptable to body block/flashlight blind/pallet drop with SWF/etc as a group or survivors to prevent a killer from getting a single hook. That's just "good play" and "killer needs to get better". But if you camp/tunnel or do anything as a killer to increase your hooks, then that's "poor play". Put another way, it's completely acceptable to embarrass a killer and make them have no fun, while the opposite is shamed.

Your own connection is one thing, but don't forget the connections of others matter as well. Combine that with the bad optimization of the game in general and we've got a great number of factors that can ruin your gameplay lol.

When it's your connection you get an indicator in the upper left corner of the screen.

Nothing this game, although it's cleared up now.

Still, lag affects twins more than other killers because of the inability to switch and unlatch.

  • Victor is fast but the amount of time to switch and unlatch is crazy. No sign the devs are making any adjustments in an upcoming update either.

  • @AiresBattleblade said:

In my half year of playing DBD, i have never encountered Decisive Strike, neither as a survivor nor a killer. As for the game going too fast, i've never noticed it going TOO fast while I kill. Yeah its annoying when two gens get done by the time I hook the first survivor, but then it usually slows to a crawl. Maybe its my killers, Legion, Wraith, and Doctor that make that the reason for the slow down, legion is surprisingly good at making survivors take a bit of time off generators, Wraith makes everyone so paranoid they never want to stay still for too long, and Doctor makes sure you always know where they are if you play him right.

What are you, Rank 18 as killer?

Getting DS'd after hooking a survivor, hooking another survivor, and then downing the original happens to me once a week. 60 seconds is a loooong time and you just stop thinking about DS in these situations.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

Winning against sweat squads is unlikely.

If you really want to win, you can camp one person and hope the team is overly altruistic. Aside from that, it's a done deal.

Any experienced killer knows that you have to slug a lot in high ranks in order to slow down the game. Playing normal won't cut it against optimal survivors.

Of course, you can keep practicing and get better at chases. But that only goes so far. Sometimes you just have to accept the odds were heavily stacked against you.

The good sweats can get their guy off of a camp, unless you have a saw killer, almost every time. Or at least, it becomes hook trade hook trade hook trade all escape. They will all have unbreakable borrowed time ds.

  • Lack of killers.

  • @Mooks said:

    You didn’t do anything wrong.

but try to understand the guy a little bit: you felt you were losing the game so you could just Tunnel and Camp to turn the match in your favor. The guy was hooked once and that was it for him, he couldnt do anything, no tunneling or camping to make his game easier. This can feel frustrating.

of course that doesn’t give him the rights to write hate mail, and if he crossed the line you hopefully reported that.

The point is to win the game within the rules. The other guy should implicitly understand that. And it's their fault they left 3 gens next to each other.

Yes, it's frustrating to think you are winning and then lose, but that's his fault.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/221270/any-there-any-twins-mains-out-there

ive gone against a couple rank 1 twins where they slug everyone with victor. you should be glad that you dont face them. twins can one hook everyone anytime

This is fixed by healing. If you stay injured against twins you are asking for trouble.

I don't usually purposefully slug but so many times an injured survivor comes to 'help' the one I just downed with Victor. Now two are down.

  • Rank 1 twins main.

Its not boring. It does require skill like others have said because you will get eaten alive by Swf (but maybe that's true for all killers nowadays).

Addons are crap as noted. Toy sword seems to no longer come up as often in blood web.

Victor does need a rework - it's too devastating to get crushed far from Charlotte. This forces me now to play a lot less of Victor that I did before. Leaving Victor at a Gen is effective, as well as at end game to guard exits.

And nothing beats latching onto the t bagging survivor at the gate. Easy kill with Charlotte nearby, as long as you don't hit the multiple bugs that can happen (unable to pick up survivor, or survivor leaves with Victor attached).

  • Reviving this just because of my recent success -

I'll second Corrupt/Pop/Oppression/BBQ a a good build, but I think Pop/Oppression/BBQ/Sloppy has been working wonders for me. You wouldn't think the slightly increaed heal time would make a difference but I've had so many more wins in a row since running that build. The best non-hex config I've found so far, and I've put in 100+ hours on Twins.

I am seeing more teams wait out Corrupt which forces you to go looking for them and just defeats the purpose.

  • Don't worry, this will be fixed with the upcoming undying buff.

Oh wait, undying is being nerfed. Never mind.

My last 20 killer matches have been non-hex builds. Hexes are dead. Good job devs.

  • Yes, the only time you can really "eat" the DS is if the match is going well in my favor (e.g. I have a few hooks and 5 gens remain). Otherwise, I have to slug you every time now. And as you mentioned, the SWF teams use DS as essentially an invulnerability perk and will unhook in front of your face at the end of a match to get the save. Surely this is not how the perk was intended.

Even a simple deactivation of DS during end game collapse might be a sufficient nerf. As written the 60 seconds is more than enough time to crawl out the exit gate and the killer just has to sit there and watch you trudge to freedom.

  • Here's a screenshot for your viewing pleasure. Choice comments:

"You suck. I looped you so hard" (okay, the game is designed to allow infinite loops, so..?)

"I only lost because my team didn't do gens" (suppose it had nothing to do with you leaving 3 next to each other)

"You are a gen camper" (this made me laugh)

    --

A few days prior, I had a PC player take the time to message me on Xbox using a Microsoft account to tell me how much I sucked.

It may be the exception but it happens frequently enough.

God I wish people would just stop with this NERF DS bull... DS is not an issue. I cant even remember the last time I was killer and thought to myself "Oh these guys only won because of DS"... If you're getting hit with that many DS that it forces you to cry on the forums about it, you're obviously doing something wrong. Stop tunneling and learn how to slug. The amount of people running DS/Unbreakable is slim.

Guess you don't main much, but yes, it does happen when a SWF team hook trades quickly at the end of game. I've slugged 3 people and been DS'd by all 3 of them in sequence. And at red ranks a LOT run unbreakable/DS...you must be on another planet.

  • @Malum_Midnight said:

I still thing the best proposed change is: 30 second timer. The timer does not go down if in a chase. If someone enters a locker or does an objective (healing, gens, totems, etc.) the perk deactivates. If a new person is hooked, DS become inactive

And if they are the last one in the game, the perk deactivates.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/220485/i-m-toxic-now

The main reason survivors treat you like trash is because they get treated like trash from killers. The same type of killers that you have now become.

Welcome to the wishes circle of toxicness.

It is impossible to get treated like trash from a killer. Getting facecamped by cannibal/bubba is the worst that can happen, and even that scenario you can escape with 3 easily.

Also, have yet to get a crappy message after a game from a killer. Not a single one. It's the survivors that send all the messages. So your response is just wrong.

  • What's also frustrating is that the devs said that they would evaluate things like the cooldown etc etc but it's been a series of patches now and they haven't done anything except fix a couple bugs (many remaining) and nerf the locker glitch with a too-low "fix".

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I do because I need to stay sharp on every killer, but holy crap are they boring. No real skill expression, and they're only good if you dial up the sweat to 11. They really missed the mark on this one. I'll stick to Blight and Nurse for the most part. Killers that take actual skill and technical ability.

No skill expession? Not missing pounces with Victor is hard. And the number of bugs and time delays makes it pretty easy to get blown out in a match against a good team.

When you say it doesn't take actual skill, you imply they are easy to use. Usage doesn't seem to back that up.

  • DS should not activate when you are the last person alive or in the game.

Just had a SWF squad run up and unhook near the exit gate because they knew that DS would allow them to escape. Stupid.

  • You can't counter keys. Why is that even in your list?

Hook survivors, but don't tunnel, and pressure gens, oh and be on the lookout for the random key in a chest.

  • Yes, a lot is wrong with Twins. Pallets often hit me when I am one step back or even off to the side. Picking up survivors feels slowwr with twins but I haven't timed it to be sure.

There are huge issues with chases and Victor. I have a handful of unresolved videos in Bugs and just haven't gotten pissed enough to post one for pallets yet.

That's like cutting off your nose to spite your face. You've dealt with the one key holder, but anyone smart enough will just genrush. So congratulations you killed one dude but let 3 escape, rather than potentially kill two or three people and get so much more out of it, and the last person escaped because they had a key.

I frankly don't care. The goal is to change behavior. If devs don't take keys out of the game, I will make you think twice about running one.

Seeing 3 survivors hatch out in a winnable game is ridiculous and happens often enough.

  • @Yords said:

Think about it, how would you balance keys yourself in a way that is strong, but not too strong? I would be willing to bet that the idea you think of is not great.

A popular idea that I hear quite a bit is that we should allow it to only let one person escape per key and have a 3-second animation of opening the hatch. The problem with this idea is that it would still be incredibly powerful as all survivors would just run a key knowing they could easily escape.

I myself don't know any other rework ideas for the keys, but you get the point. The keys are very complex when you stop and think about it. Moris on the other hand were much more unbalanced and much stronger. Keys at least require the survivors to do generators.

The mori change was good for the game itself. Most killers who ran it only used it against survivors holding a key which created very unfun and unhealthy gameplay. Being tunneled off of the first hook only to be moried is worse because it can happen so much faster.

Was it the best change? Probably not. But it is a good change. If you are complaining about the change, you are probably a killer who relied on moris to kill survivor teams using keys.

I just tunnel key survivors now.

An easy fix would be to have keys disappear the moment they get dropped, either by dead survivor or by perk/add on. This would reflect their power and prevent the common handoff.

  • I am starting to see more Swf teams just hide and do nothing for the first few minutes when running Corrupt. Benefit gone

  • I have seen this multiple times now and it is more prevalent (but not exclusive) to when chasing a survivor with Victor latched.

  • Yes this continues to happen. I have clips where the latch symbol clearly comes before the escape.

  • @lkalin91 said:

Used to play killer, I got only so much patience left so I'm just gonna pass on the overall toxicity and bm, even if I die first and get facecamped it's better alternative

And yet the devs keep doing things that encourage more face camping like the undying nerf. So strange.

I must have 100 plus messages from survivors complaining in my chat history.

I play survivor too but also hate waiting, and it does make me upset when I get camped and tunneled, mainly because my team is not SWF and can't figure out how to handle it. So what I typically do is if a Bubba or cannibal is facecamping I suicide myself to avoid the risk to the rest of the team.
