There was already a discussion like this and I think they have to accommodate the MMR with overall killer level, devotion level and so on to some point so that if you play against the "highest" MMR with your main killer, you start at "medium" with the ones you never played.
But a kind of system like this is needed to get to know new killers without getting frustrated.
Another point is in my opinion that if they generalise MMR for survivors, having separate perk collections for the "skins" becomes useless. But they would have then to do something similar for Killerside.
But I will never think that they will actively reduce the grind for either side, because one way or another they might think that this would hurt their profits.

They really should just open matchmaking completely. No MMRs, no ranks, just pit people against random people with the only filter being regional locations.
Sometimes you'll face good killers/survivors, sometimes you'll face potatoes. Who cares? It's a party game for god sake.
I really don't think this game IS a party game (independent of they advertising I never gave any attention anyway).
It IS a asymmetrical PvP! game. There is one side that can play as a "PARTY".
Normal party games like stick fight, works, ultimate chicken horse, speed runners and so on are made of a certain amount of players from a group playing against EACH OTHER. They are for a fun experience with each other.
If you declare dbd a party game then rocket league, league of legends, rainbow six siege, overwatch and so are also party games if you don't play ranked. But in these games you also don't look just for the relaxed friendly group play but a PvP experience.

That Scott Jund video is not taking into account a lot of points that never have been explained, so this lacks a lot of information and possible scenarios. That's why it is a pretty bad idea to just take someone elses opinion and repeat it without thinking about it...
At first, most of the things you list are not even related to MMR, so not really matching your own post. The "bad week" does not seem to have anything to do with MMR but the random surprise bags we currently have with non working matchmaking/ranking (not to mention that you say "sweaty red ranks" while ranks have nothing to do with MMR)
The one point you mention to MMR: the sweat fest. I guess that's the part where you relate to Scott. Just two counter examples to what we don't know yet and what Scott completely ignored in his essay. Like never before, also MMR games will not consistently be build from players having the exact same MMR. Because that is simply not possible. The devs already gave examples like "losing against a higher ranked killer will result in a lesser loss of your ranking" so it is expected that we have mixed teams. Most likely (and that is just a guess) to shorten queue times. Probably something equal we had in the past, like the longer it takes, the wider the range.
This game does not solely consist of sweat squads and random potatoes. This will be mixed a lot. Even if. When you main spirit and constantly run against sweat squads, you will have a hard time and going to derank. Giving you easier targets some games later. The very few sweat squads will also not be available for every high rank killer, so the variation the killer will face is also most likely higher than "just sweat squads", but giving you almost no ranking progression on a win which will then not push you harder into the sweat squad region.
And we simply don't know how much tolerance the MMR will have to adress queue times. And this will most likely also be a subject for testing and changing. With what we know right now, it is imo pretty ridiculous to make any assumptions like Scott did. I'm not saying he is not allowed to think about that, it is good to point at things so everyone is aware of "possible" issues. But saying MMR is killing DBD is pretty much just a random guess based on no facts
Well tbh it is a fact that killer potential can be put in tiers. And the MMR will PROBABLY work similar to ranking tiers in other games like league of legends.
If we take the killer tiers and put them against the MMR of survivors it will lead to a tendency of high MMR survivors only facing high tier killer at some point. This will ONLY influence the top tier players aka pros in other games.
The broad general mass of players will still play mostly like now, maybe with less rainbow matches, I don't know.
The thing is the aforementioned high end players are the vets and a good amount of vocal players that kept this game alive but the devs have shown to just balanced around the masses.
The MMR probably won't kill the game and improve the situation for most but at some point they will lose the top, however much percent, that don't look for a constant "sweaty" challenge.
-
Maybe make the matchmaking consider devotion rank, additional to total killer level/games played and perks unlock percentage.

You might have missunderstood my posting, or my writing is a bit confusing. I never said that people who dont like online toxicitiy are part of the problem, its the way around. People who defend online toxicity or simply act like its no big deal are the main reason why toxcicity in this game (or many other games) is such a spread thing.
That what I also think but at the same time it is next to impossible to get rid of entirely.
Those toxic people are protected by being anonymous online and hidden by an alias. There is no real way to punish them in a way that would the general public cease the toxicity like in real life with social standards.
I am all for banning those kind of people (I know my fair share from playing mainly league of legends, one of the biggest toxic swamps in the internet gaming scene). But for most it is too easy to simply create new account etc and enforcing I'd bans is I think either impossible or somehow illegal.

Sorry to say this, but welcome to 2020, a time where toxicity and bm has become standard, even by representatives of this game. All you can hope for is that this is a bad dream and you are about to wake up in 1990.
And by the way, recommending the OP to get mental treatment because he is upset about toxic behaviour shows you are part of the problem and you might be even worse then those toxic people he is complaing about. I know you dont understand what i am saying, but wait a few years until you are out of puberty.
Well, I am 30 years old and maybe didn't really lost my inner child but I also don't understand your point about people, that don't like online toxicity, are part of the problem.
I understand it in form of "don't react to it, you just show them that it's working". But even then it is quite a far stretch to propose mental treatment.
I also think being toxic online just because noone can punish you, is an attitude that is not admirable.

I mean this is serious? Lol. Can someone please give me a reason to why they think killer is actually hard? What seems to make it so hard other than once in a while getting a game against a good swf that knows how to hold m1 on a gen?
Because statistically the game is stacked how ever much in favour of the survivor. I won't break it down here, just search the forum there are several posts about that.
It is just 1 against 4 in itself is imbalanced and survivor have more/better tools (more "second chance" perks than "one hit" perks for example, and yes I know some killer have build in onetaps) and killer efficiency is dependent on the character you play. The last part in itself is a heavy flaw of the game.
And I also don't believe you can "easily" 4k on all ranks but let's not get into that.

Both sides have their share of toxic behavior. I for my part play only killer and try not to be toxic, so I also only see toxic survivors everywhere but know that many (by God not all) killer can also be toxic.
The thing is perception is warped in hindsight to forms of toxicity. Many think that tunneling, camping (not direct face camping, which is just dumb, boring and done with a negative intention) and slugging are done with a toxic mindset.
That is wrong in my eyes, they are done with a competitive mindset. (Yes there also many people doing these to be toxic but I mean the act itself in general).
Toxic behavior starts when the actions don't have any rhyme or reason in correspondence to achieving something gameplay wise. Tbagging at the exit, bodyblocking from survivors, nodding from the killer, watching a downed survivor bleed out, hitting on hook etc are not progressing anything but are meant to aggravate.

Do you know survivors play to have fun too? We help other because we have fun (non selfish thought) not to show you anything (selfish thought), we're no thinking about you.
I don't talk about the average survivor but the example shown in the screenshots.
4 blendettes with 4 times the most meta swf perks (even 4 OoO, I know useless but hey no matter how many die still info) and 4 purple flashlights plus add-ons seem like so much fun for every killer that doesn't want dark souls like difficult games.
And again most of the times the downfall and chance to kill some of them is overly altruistic play .
And btw most killers don't think " I want to ruin your fun!" But just don't care at all.
I can tell you that I try to play fair as killer, but hey you don't have any reason to believe me just because of my words.

They are often altruistic as hell and don't really aim for the escape but to show their superiority over the killer.

NOED is op. I run around the map doing 4 totems but it still activates and wipes out multiple survivors. Maybe NOED should get weaker the more totems are done?
You know what for me as a killer main this sounds reasonable.
Give noed tokens corresponding to the amount of totems still standing when it lits. Each token gives the killer an insta down on successful hit. Max 5 hits so it would still be oppressing but not infinite. A compromise to the old 2 minute timer.
But DS really needs some conditions like the timer speeds up when a gen is done. Being save and repairing a gen in the killers face is still stupid.
Also DS makes egc or end game (I mean open doors) completely useless for the killer since a combination of bt and Ds is always a save escape.
But since I am only mediocre myself I just eat it when it happens, sooo.....meh.

Toxicity isn’t going to go anywhere people play this game to be toxic.
SWFs players don’t play because they enjoy the game or even enjoy playing with their friends. They play to bully killers and flame them after.
toxicity isn’t a byproduct it’s the selling point.
∆ This is bs.
@Bloodlust_Gamer69 said:
I am going to try and keep this short. In my opinion the toxicity in this game derives from the clear division between killer mains and survivor mains. That leads to bias and then toxicity. I don't think that this issue can easily be fixed so my suggestion is making people play the other side.
There should be a rift pass that only has survivor cosmetics but all the challenges are killer challenges. The next one is the exact opposite, killer cosmetics for survivor challenges. This is far from a perfect fix but I think it would help. I am open to discussing this matter and I want to see suggestion.
I don't really think it would help.
Toxicity stems from somewhere general not related only to dbd.
People have been toxic since they are protected by online anonymity and hidden behind an alias. Noone has to fear any real consequences online if they don't behave socially like they would do in real life. Before PvP games there were already forum trolls or online bullies in forums, being toxic.
The competitive aspect of online PvP games just brought it to a whole other level since people can get agitated more easily when pitted against other people.
Everyone let's if some form of steam or wants to behave different from their social self when anonymous.
I for my part try to still be social in PvP games but in my pen and paper group I play an evil rouge and even sometimes plan to stab my teammates in the back because it is fun to be a bad guy some times where it has no real consequences.
So you will never get rid of toxicity because you can't get rid of the root of the problem. Pent up stress or just the feeling of relief to be something else than just a piece in the puzzle of social standards.
FYI all this is by no means an excuse to behave like a jerk towards other people.
-
Make perks that become obsolete with comms, like bond, kindred and buckle up (I think roughly 10 overall) basekit for everyone and buff killer correspondingly.
Also stuff like knock out should be taken out since it only affects solos and gets worked around by external comms.
This won't make both side equal but alleviate the problem.
Maybe mix in increase bp for killer as an incentive/band-aid and show the groups in after-game so the killer knows if he is just bad or got swf'ed.
Edit: Scratch the after-game thingy. It would probably only lead to more toxicity.
When the killer gets stomped by swf or is simply not enough the may flame and when they kill the swf they will toxic my boast about it.
And yes not everybody will be toxic but many.
Edit 2 😅: Maybe make the swf indicator toggable and once it is on after-game chat gets blocked. But that won't help on console with out of game chat, Hmmm....

While that is true for now as this is the only change, when the new mmr system is put into place in theory that should allow players to choose a killer they want to play rather than feel they have to play.increasing the variety of who you wish to use.
This change needed to be done in a patch while the mmr system doesn't. This says to myself that the mmr system is planned to be implemented pretty soon.
The problem is probably it will increase the amount of "played" killers on the killer side but will decrease the amount of variety of killers "played against" (atleast in high rank/survivor mmr) due to some killer performing way better than others while survivor have there on MMR across the board.
But maybe the devs will manage to bring all killer at an equal power level at some point.

In an upcoming update, there will be a matchmaking system for each individual killers. So its implemented so that you cannot fish for newbies with killer X and then switch to killer Y.
Now, I am extremely disappointed in BHVR for not locking survivors into their role as well. Maybe not right away, but at the 30-20 seconds left mark.. so that they cannot do last-second switches anymore.
I still don't know how the MMR works on the survivor side because IF it is similar it will allow said bait switches.
But locking 30 seconds before start would only lead to switches at this point and not prevent them. I don't know how much you can compensate then with certain killer load outs.

Well as far as I can see his list either has bugs that impact both sides or minor qol problem for the killer side. So why shouldn't he be.
Do maybe mean his discontent about the locked killer without MMR implementation?
I still don't know how the devs manage the MMR on the survivor side. Because if it's the same but without lock we are going to get people picking their low skill Dwight and switch to their P3 blendette with meta perks and flashlight.
So yes I am also sceptic about that and I also liked to use my bp during queue time (killer-only on pc, so a few minutes depending on time of the day).

1) People who dodge are going to do it with or without the lock. The increase will likely have a negligible impact.
2) Increased wait for the person who dodged. The survivors will barely notice. As for killer, matches are easy to get. So again the wait will be minimal.
3) How does it decrease killer variety? Unless you're saying Plague and Legion are only played because of 4 med kits. In which case I don't feel bad for them in the slightest that they can't hard counter the survivors item.
4) Nobody will be forced to dodge. You might get in a lobby that isn't to your liking. 4 flashlights against hag for example. It would likely be a bad game. And understandable that you did dodge. But you weren't forced to do anything.
1.We will have to see. So yeah, maybe you are right.
2. Oh yes please do that. Once someone finds a workaround for the new encryption it will make a huge impact on survivors.
3. Up for debate. I think IF! The MMR system works like promised, it might increase killer variety since you won't get stomped on less power/viable killers. Just not for the high MMR survivors, they will maybe be eternally be stuck with spirit/Freddy or "toxic" load out killers.
4. Nobody from the survivor side was forced to dodge games once they saw that they had to go against a killer they don't like. But hey not fun things are just not fun, like old sabo crews or the still prominent flash light brigades.
And on a personal side note. How do the devs plan to sort survivors by when killer side gets a character specific mmr?
I didn't really read up on this mmr system so I don't know. Will they still have something like their old ranks or are they also character based. If the it is the second case, survivors will have to be also locked. Otherwise I can pick my unleveled, perkless Dwight and last second switch to P3 blender the with meta perks and flashlight. (Similar problem they try to avoid on killer with the lock)

EGC already brang everything to help killers, hatch suppression thus being counter productive towards the wanky lore of the game removes a survivor mechanic towards an end game already more than killer biaised.
How did egc make endgame "completely" killer biased. It is just a timer to force survivor to leave at some point.
If a survivor is in chase, on shoulder or on a hook, the timer comes nearly to a standstill. The timer then last way longer than a survivor needs to die on hook even being camped (which the killer mostly did even before egc), so survivor still have enough time to try a save or two. The only difference is that survivor don't have infinite time to stay in game for saves etc.
About the killer being able to close the hatch. Hatch standoffs weren't fun for anyone, even impossible now with dedicated servers since grabs are not working right now.
And tbh lore or theme wise I simply can't see how a survivor would escape with the killer being at arm's length.
Maybe it would have been better themewise to make the killer-survivor interaction on top of the hatch always a grab but the killer can't close the hatch. But being able to escape just by getting invulnerable after a hit was bs. In any slasher horror film (which this game is themed after), the killer would give a survivor standing still in front of him the trapper/Wraith Mori treatment.
-
You never really see what kind of opponents you get (4 men spawning together in a lobby is normal since servers became dedicated and not a sign for swf).
I don't use mories often, only for dailies or challenges. Also I Mori at second or third hook if possible.
I am just an average killer and more than often when I use a Mori when I get hard stomped by the survivors just to waste it. So I don't use them as not to burn them for nothing.

I recall dbd being a game
And I recall the person playing being a human that decided to behave like a premature child because it is hidden behind a computer screen.
Online anonymity brings out the worst in people since they know you can't persecute them for being jerks.
Not related to age, from 12 year old kiddies screaming in fort nite voice chat to people at my age (30) taking their time to text via external console chat.
And yes rapid crouching in killer view or flashlight licking are mostly nothing else but saying "nanana you can't get me". Sometimes to taunt for a distraction (which never really works with me) or a show of imagined superiority.
It is not the action itself but the mentality standing behind that, which should be considered toxic.

In almost every video I see where this happens, I don't blame the survivors. The Killer is slugging to go look for the hatch or to go look for the other Survivor. When I play killer, I'm not so obsessed with getting the fourth person. If they're lucky and find the hatch, good for them. The issue is that some people are so determined to kill all four people at any expense including potentially ruining the experience for the second to last Survivor. And I understand sometimes you need to kill all four people for a challenge, and for that I simply bring an Ebony!
And if you bring a more you get maybe 1 to 3 DC after the first kill.
To DC simply because you don't like how the game is going even if all those scummy and boeing tactics are built into the game.
The DC or rage quit is simply being a small minded child that can't take something not going it's way.
Try that too many times with friends instead of strangers and you suddenly won't get game invites anymore.
This is meant for random DC because someone didn't like the map/killer/mori/killer tactic. Not the DC hatch tech.

Except in those games they don't just stop you from queuing for 5 minutes. They will actually ban you for several days, or weeks at a time. Permanently even if you do it too often.
Again league of legends, dodge the champselect in any matchmaking queue and you have a 5 min, 15 min and so on timeout. Most of them start with a timeout and work their way up to 2 week and then permaban.

I find it funny you say this because most of the games where I see someone dc are games where the killer is hardcore tunneling or camping. You are right about the lack of decency, just perhaps it should be aimed in both directions.
I've had only a few DCs, usually thos survivors who tried to be toxic and teabag on the other side of the window who then try to window tech me only to get downed. I've had maybe 4 of them out of 40 plus matches this weekend.
Well the most DC I ever saw (which is not many) were instant once I got them down first or they saw which killer I played (one time spirit, the other doc. And yes I know these killers can be annoying but they are part of the game unlike the DC they give their teammates.)
I for my part only did DC one time when all 4 survivor ran back to a fat-shaming spot when they weren't all fixed. I don't play with people that intentionally cheat or exploit.

Issue is, with my limited experience in games with deserter penalties (aka Paladins) people who can't leave will either feed to the opposite team, emote in spawn, or just literally afk. The good news being if they do dc then a bot takes their place, which I really hope Bhvr implement into pc dbd soon.
Yeah that's what I mean. Instead of taking the loss as an opportunity to learn most ppl start throwing matches since nobody can do anything against them.
The same problem runs rampant in league of legends but I read they want to improve feeder or similar bans.
But it all stems from the problem that people don't see the necessity to be civil only towards the people they play with. As soon as they don't get the experience they want they throw a fit in whichever form if they can't leave.
It's simply to hard to differentiate between those and simply new people with no game experience.
Edit: I play killer-only so I never been hardcore camped or tunneled but my approach would be wasting the killers time while signalizing my team that they should leave me and do gens by doing gymnastics on the hook. I find those Playstiles boring as hell but they have their heavy downsides which should be punished Everytime.

Killers, I know you're harder to play than survivor, and sometimes stressful. But please, if you finally kill that last tbagging scumbag, rather than nod aggressively and shut hatch in his face, give hatch.
And i know it sounds ridiculous, but that's the challenge behind it. You show that toxicity doesn't affect you really, and trust me you'll be the winner in the end when you're surprised by a thank you from someone you would have never thought said it. You'll feel good and like a man in control rather than following instincts.
I know a lot out there are just scared of having hard games and have the habit of tunneling someone out of the game at 3 gens, please don't let it be the baby Meg or Dwight queued with the clearly superior players. Try going for someone who at least knows fundamentals of looping. Or better not do it at all unless you clearly have to (4 survivors 2 gens etc..)
Survivors, I know sometimes you tbag at pallets and click clack to get the killers attention making time for your team.
But especially with visibily green/yellow rank killers, please don't. Think of the many unfun matches they had to play before yours due to the broken matchmaking.
You could try crouching and nodding, it looks cuter and funnier, and certainly not as annoying and dishumilating as tbagging. You don't want him or her camping you at the end of the day.
I'm hoping one day we all get along and ditch the DS/NOED arguments because of one bad match we had.
I got bullied in pre- up to middle school. I tried to feign ignorance or use indifference. I can tell you it didn't help and probably never will.
The difference in online games is that you have no other choice but hope that it will help.
In real life I can try violence but online everyone is protected by anonymity and simply moves on since they probably will never see each other again.
I play only killer never camp ( why should I bore myself to death) or tunnel (more hits equals more bp and less stress). I play for bp and fun while watching something on YT on my second screen.
But even then I sometimes encounter unwarranted toxicity. I can just hope to ease it up by not adding fuel in the raging fire.

Were the dc penalties in existence they'd all just suicide on hook. Were there a penalty to suiciding on hook they'd sandbag and throw for the rest of the match.
No matter what you do, you can't force someone to play a game they don't want to. They shouldn't queue for it if they don't feel like they're having fun, but you cannot force someone to play a game if they don't want to.
That's what bans and other penalties are for atleast in other games.
Sadly dbd doesn't have those and probably can't even afford to implement those with their rather small player base.
You can't to force them to play it if they don't like it but you should be able to prevent them from playing it if they don't accept the common gameplay (yes, tunneling and camping are idiotic at early stages of a round, I find them boring to play. Killers are in the game to be played, even doc, spirit and Freddy).
If you don't respect the rest of your or the other team don't try to play team based multiplayer games.
-
Welcome to the world of online games where nobody gives a crap about decency towards teammates or other players.
It's the same in nearly all online multiplayer PvP games. Prime example is my go-to game league of legends or rocket league. Enemy teams gets first kill or goal -> instant DC
Sadly people don't care for morale or responsibility towards others as soon as they are protected by their anonymity online.
If this would happen in a well known circle of friends, at some point noone would invite them to play ever again.

It's the least they can offer lol
The problem is that more than often they take satisfaction out of even denying that last hit.
If you don't play a killer with range attack (Huntress/death slinger) or rapid movement (Billy/Nurse/Spirit) you won't get a hit in if they don't want or bodyblock each other.
A fitting image here would be a bunch of kids taunting a grandpa throwing eggs or something at his house just to jump over a fence so he can't reach them anymore while laughing.
I am in no rush for the next game and use the time to either get points or do some stuff IRL. This makes them mad more often than you imagine.
Edit: @ironknight55 I don't complain about the time but about the general attitude of people once they are protected by anonymity. Or they are as much of jerks in real life and I feel more sad for them.

I guess it depends on your mindset, but the point is that if they've gotten to the point of being able to taunt you with impunity, there's nothing you can do to avoid giving them satisfaction, only minimize it. For me personally that's to make them leave and not to talk to them. Survivors tbagging or light clicking doesn't really bother me. These things only have power over you that you let them have and in the end The only way to win, is not to let them have power over you. You have to convince yourself that tbagging or light clicking doesn't matter (it doesn't) and for me personally if they're sitting around the gate doing nothing wasting my time, that is a way to annoy me that I can't be convinced doesn't matter. I push them out and move on.
Edit: The only way to beat a troll, is to disallow them to have a profound effect on you.
I think pretty much the same. Only my approach is different. If they want to waste time, be my guest, I can use that time either to my advantage or get some other use out of it. I managed to get some crown using this strategy on killers I don't like and can't perform with.
Same principle as face camping. (I play killer only FYI) But my thought approach to being face camped is, be my guest and waste your time on me while my team is hopefully doing their objective. Meanwhile I do my gymnastic exercise on the hook to signal that you are camping and watch Netflix or something on my second screen.
I don't let them get to me but make them waste their time on me beings jerks. If they THINK they wasted their time is up to them.
And I don't care anymore about after-game chat bullying/toxicity. I am 30 years old now and learned from experience to stand above people that resort to something like this while being protected by online anonymity. They are probably half my age and would never even think of telling me that to my face (2 meter tall and not slender) or their upbringing missed the respect others department. xD

The satisfaction they get from hanging out at the exit gate isn't that you saw them tbagging, it's that they clearly got under your skin enough to make a forum post about it.
Just force them out. No matter what you do, if they got under your skin, there's nothing else you can do because they've already got their satisfaction. If you've gotten to the point of just ignoring the gate because you don't want to "give them the satisfaction" you've already failed at that goal. The best thing to do is force them out and to not react to their shenanigans because annoying you is what they want. If you stay away from the gate, they will wait until the time is almost out to annoy you. If you force them out, yes they will teabag and light click, but you simply can't let that bother you, if you do, you are giving them what they want.
The best solution is not to give them what they want. Force them out and don't engage with them in the chat if you're on PC. I say don't engage with them in the chat because it doesn't matter what logic or appeal you use, their goal is to annoy you, there is nothing you can say that will counter the talking out of their ass and mental gymnast they will do. Many of them will know these things make no sense and many of them won't, but in the end making sense isn't what they're trying to do, even if they don't realize that. They're trying to annoy you. It's what trolls do.
You don't want to give them the satisfaction? Simply force them out and don't engage with them any further.
Simply running into their field of view is giving them what they want. A stage to tbag/butt dance in your face or other things to emphasize their imaginary superiority.
I personally take the time they waste to use the killer power to onesidedly farm points, find unbroken pallets and so on or I simply get me a drink.
I was mobbed from pre- up to highschool despite using the ignore tactic. But it works for me ingame since I don't have to watch them or empower their ego.
If you force them out, it can give them the feeling that they juked you one last time showing their skill and whatnot (great skill by pressing w for this half meter). And I know that all this is simply me projecting my negaitve thoughts onto them.
I know some want to give one last hit (no reason for me since I normally max out brutality up to this point) or get stacks for wglf or something but both also come with a gain for them and are not really out of pure goodwill.
The problem is that those are a minority while the rest gets the feeling I mentioned above out of juking the killer by leaving.

If Killers Play so unfair why do you don't play killer to give survivors a fun game?
Because then he would notice that survivor also don't want to give the killer a fun experience. 😜

Well if that isn't a big part of the 1,5 billion bp grind done XD gz. Someone roughly calculated the amount necessary to bring all killers and I think 1 survivor with all perks to P3. Maybe all survivors but I can't remember.
Still this amount of grind is ridiculous and a reason I run BBQ on all my killers all the time.

I haven't played any games that I can't leave whenever I want. This is the only one that penalized people for leaving when they wanted to or more often then not got booted off the server. During the DC penalty, myself and a decent amount of others did suicide on hook to get out of unsavory matches. Why are you so hell-bent on defending bad behavior. There is rarely a discussion about sportsmanship, fairness, decency. Just you telling me that no matter how someone else chooses to conduct themselves I have to "just put up with it". Why? How am I more wrong for removing myself from a situation than the perpetrator of the situation. I don't think anyone should have to put up with face-camping, or a 4-man slugfest, etc. And in those situations if I see someone in my group leave, kudos to them. May their next match go better and maybe the face-camper learns something if enough people are unwilling to play with them.
And since you would call the police after getting spit in the face I assume you also distanced yourself from the spitter. You keep going on about the rules, but my main point is DCing should not be against the rules. No one should be forced to "PLAY A GAME" with undesirable people, and you have no idea who is and is not a problem until you are in the situation.
I wish they would institute Ban Lists, because if people who engaged in poor sportsmanship got themselves on enough lists they would run out of people to be terrible too and we would never have to see them again. But unlike most other games it is not possible at this time and may never be.
Oh pls enlighten me what ONLINE multiplayer TEAM BASED PVP game you play that does not have a leaver penalty. I play or have played overwatch, pubg, lol, hon, hots, DotA, smite, cod, csgo, rocket league, rainbow 6 siege, dbd and two or three others I can't remember right now and they all have a form of timeout up to permaban penalty for leaving the game intentionally.
And pls don't start about random breakdowns. If you know that you system or internet connection does not allow for undisturbed online gaming, then don't play. Even I have a disconnect from time to time because of internet break down or software malfunctioning but this is so seldom that I can take the 5 minutes of forced break and do something IRL or watch some yt.
I for myself have the decency to take the responsibility for my teammates not to disconnect and leave them at an disadvantage. And I see rq/DC as lack of said decency. You go in those games knowing that leaving will ruin the game for all others because of your selfishness because the round is not to you liking.
In lol for example, I play the whole round even when my teammates suck or the enemy stomps me.
I d/ced ONE time in dbd, I played killer and all 4 survivor exploited a fat-shaming spot. They could pass the gap but not me. That is the only time I dc, when I encounter a cheater or exploiter on my costs.
Edit: And I am for the implementation of bots as placeholders and the possibility to reconnect, so evade the timeout ban. Most of the games I mention have the feature of rejoining a round after getting thrown out of the game due to some error.
I know dbd does not have either option but those only help to ease the pain but the root of the problem, the attitude of people protected by online anonymity stays, on both sides in dbd.
-
Well that's the main reason I am on forums like dbd or the now shut down league of legends forum.
I need some salt for my popcorn. 🍿

Well a jumping killer would probably breaks every last defense mechanism for survivors since he could just jump over pallet stuns and through windows without vaulting.
Also second store locations would lose all security, like balconies on Haddon field. FYI killer main here.
But nurse does roughly the same and got nerfed to make her less oppressing and the handling is way harder than I would imagine for a jumping power.
A roughly similar power would be legion but he gets limited by the non-lethal nature of his power.
So the jumping killer would either need skillfully handling or a non-lethal drawback to his power.

Well, good luck with your friend against 2 killers. Now really - Its about rank, we are not tryhards, so its hard for us even with SWF and when i played killer, many survivors had problem to win too with SWF, thats why i told 90% have problems with it. Its about rank, if you have full rank 1 lobby, its easy, but if you have 3 rank 12 and your killer is rank 2 tryhard, its impossible.
The biggest problem of swf (except for tunneling and camping) is overaltruism. This happy end attitude "We escape all together🌈" let's them make mistake/dumb plays.
Example (of course purely hypothetical, but has happen more than enough):
-Killer gets one on the hook and the other three refuse to leave.
-Camping is here a valid if not the only strategy.
-The survivors don't have bt and still bomb the hook.
-Killer gets luck and downs the hooked and one more.
-It ends with a 2k because they didn't want to leave the one behind to get their 3 ppl out and let the killer lose.

For solo Q - base kit kindred (killer aura only) within 2-3m - so the 'do gens' argument cannot be countered.
I remember when escape attempt spamming was a well known signal for "I am getting camped". Did this get out of Fashion?

I always have to say this but unfortunately when people try to think of "solutions" to swf they never get it right.
95% of swfs are bad. They are extremely easy to bait and beat. There is only a select few groups who are actually good.
Removing Pallets, decreasing number of perks, increasing gens, increasing repair times, tell killer they are facing a swf, 1 of each perk per person, separate ques and disabling huds all aren't solutions to fixing swf.
Sorry it seems like I'm being harsh but I'm just sick of seeing the exact same post every single day when no one has put forward a decent solution. The main problem your post is some maps has virtually no pallets. Somebody put up a post earlier today where a map only had 8 pallets, meaning a 4 man would only have 4.
Well the only but improbable solution is still to buff solo up to bar and then give killer more power to equalize. But this would mean so much work for the devs that it either will take years to accomplish or rather will never happen.
But to the point of swf, I recently rewatched a series of videos of some German YouTuber playing 4 man swf at rank 20 (they were total noobs, no watching behind them in chases, useless pallet drops, fast vaults followed by no understanding why the killer moves over to them and so on).
Yet they still managed 4 man escapes, pretty fast grasping the advantageous element of communication given by discord in swf.
They could tell when someone is running the killer so others could stay on gens. They coordinated hook saves more or less successful (mostly hook trading). Also from the perspective of the fourth when they were only 3 man swf.
It is an prime example, why swf is so much of an advantage. When both sides are around rank 20 with less than 50 hours, this game is statistically killer sides but swf can completely turn that around.
The problem is this balance stays the same when both sides have an equal level of game experience.
The biggest weakness of swf is overly altruistic gameplay (also shown to no end by the mentioned YouTubers, "Ah, no I have to rescue you...." -.-)
And the amount of swf will probably increase with cross platform friend invites.

I encountered someone in a game that brought a Mori, and prob the most toxic build he could. I ask his reasoning and he claimed it was because he knew we were a SWF (we weren't). He started ranting about how there was a "rebellion" starting against SWF. This whole thing made me really mad and I started thinking about it. Why do people complain about SWF so much. I understand if you're going against a really toxic 4 stack that bring flashlight and borrowed time and we'll make it and such, but that's not often the case. He complained about SWF groups having "comms" which I feel is something so utterly dumb to complain about, mostly because it should be a normal thing to have game chat between survivors. And isn't communication and teamwork the only way you could really make it out of the trial? Anyway, I just think it's ridiculous that people actually complain about others wanting to play a game with their friends and "having comms" out of all things like jesus are you really complaining about a mechanic that should be in the game by default? Haven't killer mains ever thought that maybe we wouldnt have to squad up in a discord if they just added game chat, or even a radio like in Friday The 13th? Now listen, I could say a lot more things but I have so many rants ready that I am losing track of what I'm saying already, so listen, I am not a killer main and barely play killer, maybe I am missing a part of the puzzle, so If you disagree with something I said, please comment and tell me. I want to see your side of this.
The problem is not with swf per se but the comms that come with it. It negates several killer perks like hex: the third seal, part of stealth killers, setup of trap using killers and so on.
It also makes several survivor perks obsolete like kindred or bond. Couple this with a experienced looper using object of obsession and the survivor have non-stop knowledge of the killers position.
Unrelated to the experience of the swf group it allows for some form of coordination staying on hooks while others go for hook saves or loop the killer.
I just recently rewatched a series of old YouTube videos of a group of mediocre players (rather known German let's players) going in as a four man group.
While they each individually suck at playing survivor (no looping, correct use of pallets or even watching behind them to see the killer), they grasped the advantages of comms really fast.
They still managed to make 4 man escapes by simply telling each other who was engaged with the killer, who was doing gens and trying to do coordinated saves. All this at experience level where the killer should still have the advantage (rank 20-17, fresh not deranged).

I mean, while i completely agree with our cynical friend here, I have to point it out. This is a business that pays people and needs to make profits, while for "political reasons" they cant actively admit they favor survivors, as a business model it legitimately keeps them afloat if they give a slight leniency to survivors over killers as there are, ideally, more survivors than killers. By making survivor easier or more favorable than killer it KEEPS this player balance by discouraging certain people from playing killer and encouraging them to play survivor instead, which keeps match times in a stable state. If you think about it this game wouldn't be able to function if killers were the "more fun" or favored team to play on, match times would be even worse for killer, (which means latency issues as your desperately connecting across larger distances to find available survivors), and the game as a whole would make less money (I don't know about the rest of you but i have like 5 different outfits for kate and no cosmetics for any of my killers).
Now of course to respond to our friendly new killer, first a set of tips Gen Denial Perks are your Friend, Seriously bring 4 gen denial perks if you need to, they are your best way to deal with SWF as it forces people off gens to find your hex totems or outright slows them down on gen progression. The major difference between a SWF and a normal group of survivors is the hook/gen efficiency. With a SWF 2 or at least 1 will stay on gens while they unhook. In a normal game (Survivor Tip: Kindred is amazing as a solo queue this is why) often all 3 survivors will get off gens to try and save the hooked player. Or worse yet NO ONE will get off their gen and they will slip to phase 2. Facing a SWF your best bet is still to go immediately for the most completed gen after hooking a survivor because thats exactly where they will be, they simply have better coordination.
In general SWF will be much better at drawing you away from their friends compared to a regular group, (Or drawing you to them if they are going for a flashlight save). Infectious fright is your best bet against a SWF group that goes for saves. Assuming you dont own plague cause you said you're a new killer... Hm Lightborn. Just check for flashlights during the lobby, if you see 2+ equip lightborn, otherwise you should fill it with another perk of your liking. If they are drawing you away from gens then your best bet is to finish a chase swiftly. A good trick if you have a survivor stringing you along forever is to push them BACK the way they came, that way there are no pallets for them to use (As presumably they already used those pallets on you) it takes some time to master this, you will have to pay close attention during looping to make sure they end up being forced back the way they came from. Dead Hard is the enemy assume everyone has it if you can get away with it.
Yeah thats all I got, Good luck, don't give up as a killer just yet it can be very rewarding once you escape the toxic purple ranks. Personally I find red rank players arent often in SWF (Against red rank killers at least... We need to talk about that matchmaking at some point!) and are often enjoyable to play against.
Off topic to your choice of cosmetics. I don't even get why I, as a killer-only main, should even bother buying killer cosmetic other than weapons. I myself can't even see them to enjoy.
Edit: Ah wait I forgot you see your killer when you Mori. But hey we all know how much survivor like to be more even at third hook.
And to our dear dev comment, "suck it up" is a great help.
