I just wanna say suiciding happens a lot bc of camping killers have a lot of the power yeah its a type of rage quit but they allow it right? Killers can camp so survivor can kill themselves. It's not a bad trade especially for the ones saying that camping is a tactic if the game isn't fun might as well die anyway. Especially tunneling and plus its good for the killers they get an easy kill so yeah if you wanna bring that up then we can talk about camping and tunneling first.

And the same amount of first hook suicides/penalty free instant DCs happen because a player didn't like the map or killer.

Those are the situations that are discussed here.

And if you want to focus on camping make survivor being able to hang for 4 minutes in the first 4 minutes of the game. But at the same time unable to Kobe.

This would discourage killer from early camping without completely throwing the game and also survivor from diving the killer to penalty free leave the game early.

  • @johnmwarner said:

Here’s the thing you can be in favor of killers being able to open the door early but if so you also have to be okay with survivors first hook suiciding.

Or you can say killers being able to end the game early is unfair because it robs the survivors of points, but if so you should be against first hook deaths.

I don’t really care which way you choose but if you’re saying it’s okay for one side to quit early then it should be okay for the other.

You know I think that is exactly the reason the op made this thread. -.-

  • @Mew said:

don’t queue up for a match if you don’t wanna play the game lmfao

Another argument that can both to killer and first hook suiciding survivor.

Dont play the game if you don't want to play on all maps/against all possible killer.

That's what you are saying but good luck with people nowadays doing that.

  • @dugman said:

Honestly if you want a quick match bring a mori. You don’t even have to actually use the mori you bring, survivors who see you brought one at the start of the game won’t be wasting a ton of time during the match because they’ll know if you down them after a hook it’s over, even if they have Decisive Strike. In fact you don’t even need to bring an Ebony Mori, an secret offering will make the survivors think you are using one and they’ll be on red alert the whole match.

(Plus bonus points for actually killing survivors with moris and then drinking the ocean of tears. 😭 Yeah, we get it, Red Moris are overpowered, boo hoo. If the devs didn’t want people using moris they wouldn’t still be in the game at this point.)

The thing is this post isn't about a fast game. It is partly the same lame reason to DC when they don't like the map.

You can't anticipate that every time with a Mori. But hey a map offering might help there but it would block the offering slot for everything else.

Sorry you had to go through that but...

There are 0 killers on PS4, and the demand for them is insane.

I'm not sure how Cross play helped that, but....yeah.

Again? I thought since many killer on console opted out of crossplay and only a part of the survivor side stayed in, the ratio of both sides got better.

But I hear arguments in both directions, some like yours and others saying they get better queues on both killer and survivor. -.-

And again those posts more than often are missing key information like region, platform (mostly PS4 meant here) and daytime of playing.

Devs, pls, make WGLF and BBQ default powers, free 5th perk. These perks only waste perk slots and having 3 perk slots is boring. But if we dont take farming perks, its ~15k bp, lol. At lvl 50 its nothing.

Someone calculated the amount of bp u need to P3 everyone with all perks before pyramid head release I think and it was a whopping 1,5 billion.

As much as I think it's bs that the killer is basically a babysitter stuck in the match with no way out (unlike survivors, who can suicide on the hook), the ability to open the exit gates whenever would get abused so [BAD WORD]ing fast it's not even funny.

One of the problems is that the game has no built-in timers. It's a race against time if both sides are doing their objectives, but if a killer walks off during a match to get a snack and comes back 20 minutes later, the survivors could still be there not having completed a single gen and just screwing around. The game is very open-ended, which is great for me as lately I just want to get a few jump scares and then go afk while the survivors do five gens and leave, but a bit more structure would help make sure matches don't go on indefinitely.

Well first hook suicide is already rampant and ruins many games but nothing can be done against that.

  • @ccactus623 said:

Why would you want to forfeit ? If you're getting trashed it'll be over soon enough

Well it should be obvious that a not so small part of all online communities get cocky/arrogant/mean as soon as they notice that they got into the power side of things. A good amount of survivor will stop progressing the game and start farming points or try to taunt the killer.

Yes I might be generalising a little bit here and I know that not even 50% are like this but those kind of games burn themselves into your memory like PTSD. And it happens on both sides only with the difference that the chance for survivor to meet the same kind of jerk killer is 4 times higher than for killer to meet either a death squad or unfun meme groups (assuming a equal percentage of both player groups are jerks).

  • @ZaKzan said:

killer should be able to open exit gates at any time of the trial. This would be the most elegant fix

I mean correct me if i'm wrong but there is an option to turn off crossplay so you continue playing like it was never implemented.

"can we get a kill your teammate by vote option or something?"

Do you have any idea how a 3 man SWF could easily exploit this if they are a bunch of pricks who only care about themselves? This in itself would create an awful change for Solo's

Just for this hypothetical case swf should just get 1 vote per group.

But even then this system would have little impact outside of all solo rounds since 4man, 3man and double 2man swf would never be able to use it.

4man = no need, except trolling your friends

    3man = would 1 against 1 with my suggestion

    2mans = again 1vs1 in votes

Baby killers wanting the world handed to them on a silver platter and the devs obliging are destroying the balance of this game, because actually decent killer use those same advantages.

Okay let's try a different approach to his plea.

Killer don't get to quit the game without DC but survivor can't die/don't go to second stage on first hook in the first 4 minutes of the game or 5 gens are done. (But also no Kobe in this time)

This should be an extreme buff against camping (because it gets completely useless with this much time) and if the killers are still dumb enough to do it 4 minutes should be more than enough to finish 5 80sec gens and even go for an unhook.

But if you unhook them and they still want to suicide they can on second try. Just shows then that even with such an advantage they want to screw their team.

  • @FattiePoobum said:

What is it with you guys

you play so sweaty (which is understandable) but when you don’t 4K the game is unbalanced

l just played against a rank 1 Freddy (we were all solo) he got a 3k one got out through the doors. It was a good game everyone said “gg”

then he goes on this rant about the game is unbalanced against killers.

so for red rank killers it’s 4k or bust?

Maybe you were too good and made them work hard for his kills. It feels extremely stressful to handle 4 person alone. The harder the match the more they want a complete wipe, not only a win since it feels the most satisfying for them? I don't know and stopped caring for killer long ago.

I think dbd needs a second objective either for killer or survivor. Another asymmetrical game called evolved had several win conditions for the power role. They could either kill the opposing team or destroy several objectives. I can't remember if the team also had a second objective beside killing the monster.

Right now the survivor have a goal completely beside the killer while the the killer has the survivor themselves as his only objective. (Yeah I know also stopping gens but that is nearly impossible given the killer can't be everywhere at once, the regress speed is not really up to the killer and the regress can be stopped while passing by the gens with a short tap).

DC'ing is a sin against humanity, but please let killers do it because they're special.

He is not talking about a equivalent to a DC but to survivor suiciding early in the game to avoid DC penalties and that killer can't do that without waiting 5 minutes or maybe forever when the survivor notice that the killer gave up and stop progressing the game.

And yes DC'ing is a jerk move in my eyes since I feel a sense of obligation to other people is start to play team games with.

But hey we are all anonymous in the wide internet so we are safe to be jerks since noone can really punish us. Just show much about the attitude and character of people as soon as they are not "controlled".

Whether I get stuck on my own or trying to help, it happens. I've even had other teammates get stuck trying to help and it's game over by that point.

I never saw the shack thing, but I would consider it reportable considering it gave survivors an unfair advantage and they were knowingly using it.

Yeah the shack thing was reportable but I didn't have any capture software then.

And to your first point I mean going to help the killer not another survivor.

But overall I don't have any idea how to correctly handle a situation were someone is stuck in the terrain. Survivor can't do much to the killer except pallets and how should the killer handle it if he can get a survivor unstuck? I would maybe let them wriggle of but at the same time while you are kind to them the rest keeps going "taking advantage" of the killers kindness at this point.

In real-life every participant would stop the game to help the stuck but I don't see it happening in this game. T.T

  • The hatch itself needs just some sort of interaction. Maybe let the survivor get a key from several not campable spots and give more than one but we'll hidden random hatches. Killer gets no interction with the hatches.

Maybe make the keys match somehow match special hatches. 4 keys for 4 hatches but only one works for each hatch. With or without directly visible numbers only for the survivor (not the same stuff like jigsaw boxes). But the survivor has to get relatively close to see the number maybe? Would be another balancing issue.

This gives the killer more time to work for the 4th kill and the survivor has to earn the escape.

"Exploit bugs, errors in design, or undocumented features to gain access to what otherwise would not be available or to obtain a competitive advantage."

Does getting free hooks, a competitive advantage, because of a game bug/exploit not fall under this?

Taking advantage in this case should be if you are stuck and he gets his hits, down or hooks from it.

If you go up to him to help him and he hooks you after it makes him a scumbag but from a mean point of view you an idiot.

Best thing would just to finish the game fast or he DC's.

Survivor side would take advantage by dancing around the killer not progressing the game.

Last time I had people exploit something it was a fat-shaming spot years ago. They could squeeze through making killer shack an infinite. Only time I ever dc'ed.

I see your point. I just don't see people not using DS or unbreakable because of how the majority of killers play. I literally just had a trial where I chose to not run those perks and the killer camped my hook (4 gens left) and when I was taken off he slugged me, hit my team mate, and then insta hooked me. Players like that make me want to run those perks. I got 5000 bloodpoints cause my team was unable to get me. Killer and I were red ranks, the rest of my team was purple and green. Sometimes you need to rely on crutch perks cause solo queue is a ######### and no one will help you but yourself.

Yeah I also get your side of things. Same with me doing things my way and encountering a 4 man swf swat team stomping me to oblivion and being jerks about it. I think I just got steeled against that by getting bullied in school and surviving and playing league of legends for 10 years ;P

Tbh you don't really need a "real reason" to leave because it's a video game and not a job. I play mostly killer and I leave all the time if the match is just unpleasant. I don't have a lot of time to play because, you know, I have an actual full time job outside of dbd, so I'm not going to sit through a crappy match of people clicking flashlights at the back of my head & waste the small amount of time I have to work with.

Well good for you, I also have a job but at the same I feel a kind of obligation when I start a game with other people to finish the round so it won't suck for the others.

But that is obviously a personal thing seeing as most people see it like you do.

I also have the expectation from my self not to be toxic and not play scummy. I learned not to expect anything from others but I feel better knowing that I behaved like I expected from others.

But this all might be me being numbed from playing league of legends for 10 years, who knows.

You can’t compare playing SWF with Killers dodging lobbies. They are literally not the same thing. Killers wanting to play fair matches is not wrong. It is not fair for Killers to play against SWF who use outside communication that give them the benefits of all aura reading perks such as Alert and Kindred while being able to play with the 4 meta perks.

Would you think it would be fair of Killers got an extra two perks when you faced them? How about if Killers were able to know where you are throughout the whole match? If not, then you’re a hypocrite because that’s what SWFs get.

Lets not forget the extra advantage of coordination that Swfs get with their communications that makes the game even easier for them.

Well yeah, while I completely agree with you on the swf angle, I have to say about comparing DC between survivor or killer doing it, the killer ones are worse per person.

As an example you have a game of soccer with a few people. If one of them leaves (1 survivor) the game continuos but when the kid owning the ball quits noone can play(the killer quits/dodges).

Same in dbd, a survivor DC's and the game continuous with an advantage for the killer and less fun for everyone involved. Once the killer quits or dodges noone can play.

Well I can say this because I play killer only and only left once because the survivor were abusing an exploit in form of an old and by now patched fat-shaming spot.

Only real reasons to DC are real life problem/emergencies, hacker or exploiter and a game held hostage (again impossible for me because I am the killer).

  • @vogit10102 said:

It seems in this killer forum that a gen done in 60 secs it's a problem, but a surv going down in 10 sec it's ok. That's frustating for so many people

Well the problem is the killer like myself, and I may be going out on a limb here, that think a first hit DC is dumb, don't DC just because a gen (or three simultaneously) gets done.

The ones that DC are too ashamed (or atleastshould be) to voice their discontent since they would just be hypocrites.

The game gets harder/the map smaller the more gens pop so the killer gets pressure more easily. (Just as a thought for those)

Problem, it would be just like nurse but with other animation but same principle. There is only so much they can do with what they have.

  • Yeah but now you have your hands free for an additional medkit or whatever.

I could take my time to rephrase your exact statement to my purpose but that joke is old.

I am a midrank killer-only player. I don't tunnel or camp (sry just boring standing around). But if I use a shroud or God forbid a Mori for my daily ritual I get several DC and the survivor expecting me to let them have this game or they dive into me to suicide. Great fun.

I know many killer tunnel with a Mori, I don't, but even if I play for fun they dodge. This argument, like most, goes both ways and noone is truly right.

And noone will really break this established loop of thinking that the other side will be just as toxic as in the last game.

DS only affects killers who tunnel. When I play killer, I spend less time trying to slug or tunnel the person fresh off the hook and I spend more time finding and hooking the others who are probably on gens. From a tactic stand point it makes no sense. Why not stop gen progression and find the other survivors? Why tunnel the one off hook? If less killers did that, these perks would be useless to survivors.

Well to your statement "DS affects killers who tunnel". I know this falls under "whataboutism" but what is when the DS survivor bodyblock intentionally for another, does a gen in the killers face or does an unsafe unhook and, since killer should not tunnel the unhooked, goes for the guy with still active ds?

The survivor have already learned how to not use DS as protection but also as a weapon.

    @BabyDweetMain said:

Killers aren't entitled to the kill. They don't need a break. Also I love how toxic killer mains always get triggered and call something a "small pp build" when survivors just use perks to counter nearly every killers play style. It's the only smart thing to do. Maybe if killers stop running their boring sweaty small pp builds, so will survivors. It's called a chain reaction.

And by now it's by God no chain reaction anymore but a circle or a loop. Both sides use whatever build, perks or playstyle giving the argument that the other side could run something like this too.

I personally play deliberately without tunnel, camp or Mori, just using BBQ for bp grinding and still I get groups with 12 of 16 perks being meta (second chance or "crutches"), in low to middle ranks, not red or purple (I just play this game occasionally).

I don't take care to avoid DS and just eat it when it comes (most of the times THE best counter since it is gone afterwards).

And about the topic at hand, I think that the change the devs made was correct. If cobe/Deliverance at this niche point would still be possible, it would just lead to most killers face camping until second stage and instant down you again. Then go to find hatch or camp the survivor for the unbreakable/soul guard. It makes no sense to prolong the nearly inevitable except for more bp.

this like topic i had years ago with smash people treat it as competitive game like tekken or street fighter(can feel competitive) but other think it party game as well.

Yeah smash is a party game but people can treat every game like a competition.

But dbd does not offer the spirit of playing it purely for fun. There is always the feeling of power struggle between both sides. Probably because the goals from both sides contradict each other.

In most party games both parties compete towards the same goal.

Edit: I think it would "feel" like a party game if two killer and two groups of survivors would compete with each other to see which one is the most efficient/fastest or whatever.

Another party way of playing dbd is to play kyf and switch after one round and compare bp or whatever rating the party invented.

But again that would imply to play as a party of minimum five and switching the respective objectives.

Playing dbd alone or heavily on one side (like me) does not give a party game like feeling in any way but just the PvP like sensation of for example league of legends, rainbow six siege or rocket league in normal queue where my win or loss means overall nothing.

Two things. One, noed is fair, and so is ds. And two, not saying everyone does this, but a lot, if not most, killer players will tunnel if theres no obsession, making it essential in high ranks, where killers know no obsession=no ds. The only problem with ds is comboing it with unbreakable.

It's funny how the community manages to do stupid things equally on both sides.

On killer side: No obsession = free tunnel

On survivor: one offering not turning = Mori so better DC, even more so without penalties right now

FYI: I am a middle rank killer who makes it his policy not to tunnel or camp, since on side has to start but I still find it funny when I use a yellow Mori or a shroud and they instantly DC. I don't use green or pink mori since from my experience I get lucky with a swf that will simply trash me and I waste it. Plus they cost too much bp in the bloodweb to efficiently level.

the fact that they don't balance like other competitive games

the fact it 1 vs 4

the fact that MMR messed and getting to rank 1 does nothing or giving you anything.

the fact the no leaderboard in this game

so for that it don't feel like a competitive game and a lot don't play like it is they only few sweaty people on both sides they care about rank tho it mean nothing.

Well I have to agree that while the game may be casual without leaderboard or working MMR, it is far from a party game. I would define a party game as something where either everyone plays against each other or the game is based on teams of the same size.

This games gets a sense of competition just by being PvP and asymmetrical. Of course their is no overarching goal but just to beat the enemy side (either the stronger killer that has to be overcome or the group you have to beat). It feels or seems like a competition while the perception will vary for each and everyone.

I would call games like worms, ultimate chicken horse, speed runners, move or die and so on party games.

Some games like Mario party or "move or die" have also Minigames/gamemodes where everyone has to play against a sole stronger player. But those game give the sole player (power role) more might while the group (number role) has to really work together. And the payoff for the sole player feels more rewarding.

I had more to say but lost the topic while rambling so I'll stop here.

Edit: Tldr: I think dbd doesn't feel like a party game. More like a normal PvP game in normal mode.

  • I always feel that when/if I use strider it really messes up my perception of distance to survivors and nothing else really.

Maybe I notice someone I would've normally missed but still mistake the distance and/or the object they hide behind.

Wholeheartedly agree. I´d like to add that some of these "toxic" groups sometimes just act cocky to have fun. I had it happen SO often that after I beat them or the match was at least really entertaining that light smacktalk can be hell of a lot more fun than getting butthurt.

Depends though, the true toxic groups (they DO exist) will do everything they can to humiliate the Killer and ruin his experience.

Well even if they only act the way they do for fun does not change the fact that in a 4 vs 1 this will still just feel like bullying for the lone person independent to the intentions of the group.

See, I can understand that point of view cause it does give a massive advantage for when SWF do tryhard. Honestly I have no idea how the devs could make swf more balanced or even if its possible.

Buff the individual survivor that go in solo until swf has no distinct advantage (more information, Teamplay can't really be forced) and then balance killer against the survivor as a whole group.

  • Seems like the devs like hardcore mode from cod or realistic mode from rainbow six siege XD

Edit: maybe they add friendly fire pallet stuns next 😂 (I know it is a bug not a new feature)

Oh, and as a side note : I won't know this but you will, if you try to piss off the killer, try to bully him or ruin his fun, he can do anything he wants do with you. If you bring OoO against a Trapper you deserve everything that comes your way.

I think sweaty is just a new form of saying tryhard and stems from frustration of the losing side in PvP games.

They say it mostly to shame the other party in the spirit of "Why must you try your hardest (try so hard that you sweat) while I just want to have fun/am not even trying".

It is just meant to make the loss less hard/the win less worthy, because the losing side never even tried/did their best.

So do they by running op perks and loops on those dumb maps.Do you think that 2 hook game where 5 gens got done in 4 min is fun for me?

It may not be fun but if it is just a few minutes I would say endure it. There is the saying taking one for the (here enemy)team. Right now queue times are good but maybe the other side might have to wait more than 5 minutes to get another game.

And I don't think many people like when someone on their team or the enemy team quits and leaves the game unbalanced.

In general I think when you play a team based multiplayer game you consent to play the round with everybody and they do too. And yes other people DC but if noone starts to break the circle nothing will change.

I also only DC against hackers, exploiters and so on (just 1 fat-shaming spot exploit since release for me, so only 1 intentional DC).

@burt0r yes sorry I play survivor have not tried the killer side yet

Then that is pretty much what I would expect d from queue times for survivor right now just going by logic.

Surplus of killer on day and vice versa at night.

Just the the relative increase of players due to the 4:1 nature of this game and people having to work/go to school makes this logical.

the issue is that more players would mean more games being played per hour, which means less wait overall. I don't think the MM / dedicated servers are working properly. There are games that I play that have extremely stringent matchmaking, have about 3000 players playing, and queues are like 2 minutes max. There has to be something wrong with the way this game matches people. The ratio of survivors / killers would have to be like 200 to 1 or vice versa for these queue times to make sense.

Again I would need more info from you to comprehend your queue times.

Platform, region, time of day and crossplay on or off?

For me on pc in eu there was a evident change of survivor to killer ratio from afternoon to late evening, all before crossplay.

PlayStation & I’m in UK it’s 9:26am queues are instant they start to slow down around 4pm but there not bad only 1-2 mins of that

I assume Survivor? From what I read on this forum, crossplay gave survivor on consoles better queue times since the killer ratio on pc seems to be much higher than on console (people mentioning 10-15 minute queues for surv and instant for killer on PS4 in the past).

Now crossplay shares those killer with everyone but the increase of survivor is bigger than on the killer side so the amount of killer can't satisfy the demand that seemingly increases in the evening.

This aligns with my experience as killer pre crossplay when my queue times in the afternoon were minutes and went down to less than 30 seconds at night.

Pc had more killer than needed in the afternoon and later the amount of available survivor increased. So the excess amount of killer in the afternoon made queue times drop at day and can't keep up anymore at night.

  • Again if you talk about queue times please provide what you play on, where you play from (us, eu, Asia,...), What time of day you play bad if you have crossplay or not. These all matter for such a discussion.

And yes this post was more meant to went your frustrations but still ...

  • The thing is all or rather most crossplay brought for pc atleast should be an inflation of survivors.

I play on pc in eu and previous to crossplay my queue times as killer varied by day time. From minutes in the afternoon to nearly instant late in the evening. So from the 50k ppl in steam slightly more then 20% play killer in the afternoon and this relative percentage goes to nearly perfect 20% or less in the evening resulting in instant lobbies for killers (don't play survivor, so no idea on that side).

Now crossplay came and I don't think many pc player opted out but nearly no killer from consoles opted in or they switched to survivor since they didn't want to play against survivor with better framerates than the ones that could already easily 360 them.

So the survivor base increased but killer roughly stayed so the relative percentage of killer dropped below or to 20% at daytime and clearly below 20% at night.

All this is just hypothetical since we don't have the number and it may vary by regions since I read changes in both directions for survivor as well as killer.

So it is really confusing without ppl giving info about platform, region, time of day and now opting in or out.

Additionally there are the groups on each platform that opted out from crossplay and now have all their reduced queue populations.

It is to see in the future how this balanced itself out. If most of console player opt back out of crossplay or stay and how big the respective opted out part of each platforms community will get.

Thank you. I read it back to myself so many times and couldn't spot it!

No problem. It is something human when the brain automatically completes sentences, words or even fills in missing words. Same principle with l33t speak, there are even whole texts of it to test XD

Edit: Does not help against autocorrect -.-

I play SWF with people on different consoles, though.

Well it is the selling/advertising point of cross play friend lists to swf together.

So what your saying is go ahead and be toxic cause survivors will already say your toxic.

If that is what you take away from it. But I for my part try to play so that everyone can enjoy even if they are to a degree toxic to me. Someone has to start to break the cycle otherwise it will never stop similar to bigger real-life problems.

I also tunnel people down but only when they tried to bodyblock teammate's, so when they are toxic between each other. I got bullied in school, I can take their toxicity without batting an eye and simply ignore it.

Maybe part of it is that I played wow and league of legends were I thought for myself that I have to try for the other 4 people I play together with even if I don't have the most of fun at the given moment.

I may stand alone with this attitude towards group/team based games and even shackle myself by thinking I HAVE to provide.a certain amount of skill to not be a burden but when playing killer I am alone but still can be civil towards the enemy.

  • The problem is right now, opting out of crossplay is not an option for them until a bigger part of the individual platform playerbase does so since the queue is separated by opting in or out.

And those complaints are nothing new really. They just got more and faster at the moment and across all platforms.
