Hm yeah I could see how that could be hard to counter for killer. But does this mean that there is nothing to be improved upon with this? I don’t think anyone is arguing that it’s fair but is the answer; yes it’s unfortunate it’s difficult/nearly impossible for the survivor but since it would make things difficult for killer then it is what it is? Not trying to sound rude it just feels kinda unfair. Sometimes DC are legitimate as well as in bad connection/lag. It’s happened to me before. It feels kinda scummy to acknowledge the issue but not try and figure out a solution for it. (Not saying you’re doing that I just mean in a general sense) Again not trying to sound rude I’m sorry if I come across that way! Just genuinely frustrated with this and I think it’s an actual issue.

Hey, all cool, didn't sound rude, even without the apologies 😜

But DC in any game is a unsolvable problem and has to be severely punished.

I play/played lol, R6S, rocket league, overwatch and a few other (maybe smaller) team based games and nowhere was there a satisfactory solution for DC. It was frowned upon everywhere and rightfully punished.

The best (but with bhvr unrealistic) solution would be bots as substitutes for the missing player. They could give the killer something to divert their attention from the remaining 3 survivor and/or would passively do gens/heal them.

But i don't expect bhvr to manage to implement bots with behaviour that on one hand satisfies the survivor and doesn't outperform average casual killer due to too much optimized pathing or something like that.

  • Question, aren't those 6 hooks at 5 gens or do the own hook states just not show up?

  • @That_One_Friend said:

Honest question: how do killers play causally?

Do they 2 hook everyone and allow all survs to escape until their MMR plummets to rock bottom then 4k until they are back to a comfortable level? Do they play for points? Do they play for chases? Turn their brain off and play 3-gen Merchant or Nurse?

Playing for 12 hooks, with maximum playtime for all survivor (hooking a,b,c,d and again a,b,c,d, after that whatever) but no mercy after hook 8. No tunneling, no camping and slugging only in moderation.

Additionally, random or no add-ons or at least not bringing the strongest stuff and accepting a random map. Same with perks, no stacked gen regression but a mix of everything.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

Why do survivors sit on a gen before the first hook or sacrifice? As long as possible on the same gen? Dont they know its bad manners to do your objectives too efficiently? Afterall theyre always preaching it to killers.

My favorite was when you could push the same survivor off the same already progressed gen again and again since they focused (TUNNEL visioned) on it instead of looking for another one not directly in my patrolling area.

  • Because many survivor mains or declared "killer mains" adviced to do that to "easily" bait it out?

  • @Caiman said:

Even if killer is "the easiest it's ever been", that doesn't mean it's actually easy.

More importantly, that doesn't mean it's fun, either.

    Most importantly THIS ^

New players have it hard overall the most, the game is not friendly towards new players.

First, most of the content is locked behind very large grind or paywall. While each character isn't expensive on their own imo, it adds up in large if you need like 3 perks, each from different character and each takes like 100 hours to unlock or you have to pay 10$ to unlock it, etc.

Second, the game can be overhelming for people who don't know all the perks, mechanics, powers, maps, etc. You will easily lose just by the fact you will not play effectively around things.

Don't worry, you can get behind this Solo Survivor new player hell but you will have to spend XXX hours of learning / playing. It's not casualy friendly game imo.

Well, i would argue no current popular pvp game is really beginner or casual friendly.

DBD even less because of a lack of baby queue and a working matchmaking.

  • @hermitkermit said:

Five games in a row the first person downed has instantly DCd or killed themselves on 1st hook. Each time the killer either plays as normal or slugs the entire team. I agree that killers shouldn’t have to “pity” the others when someone DCs, but completing objectives designed for four people when you only have three or two is very unreasonable. So usually if 1 person gives up when the match starts the rest do because the chances of winning are very very low which makes for a string of nothing but horrible matches where you lose everything.

Having someone give up on first hook would be too complicated to track so to speak but If a DC could make the gens number go down, I think it could be reasonable. I don’t believe this would endanger the killers chances of winning as it would be similar to a regular match if someone hasn’t DC, but it gives the survivors who didn’t quit a chance to actually play the game and possibly win. As it stands right now, DCs don’t hinder the killer in anyway and it only increases their chances of winning and makes the game much easier, while at the same time punishing the survivors who don’t DC. I don’t understand how that could be considered balanced. If the game was meant to be played that way then it would have been designed that way.

    Thoughts?

The feature of reducing gen count upon DC would need HEAVY and complicated case by case restrictions to not be abusable.

For example, 4 gens done, 2-8 hooks, one survivor goes down and instead of getting deathhooked they DC. Last gen gets auto finished/deleted and the other survivor can already wait at the further or both exit gates. A "DC for hatch 2.0".

But also an early DC is detrimental for a killer with this feature. If a DC ends up in an auto powered gen, then the killer loses all the time they wasted on the DCing survivor with nothing to show for it.

In the worst case: one gen deleted, 3 other over 50% done and probably no idea where the other survivor are. So the 3 survivors aren't pressured which might end up with 1 gen, 3 survivor alive and 0 hooks.

Which is way worse for the killer than the old "4 gens for 3 survivor when one didn't load into the match".

"Because the argument "a perk that already works might become meta, so please buff it further" is nonsensical."

That is... not what we're saying at all? "We're saying hey, sloppy rates are going up, can we unnerf iron will?" You seem to kinda have missed the point and chalked the point up to being nonsensical when you don't even understand the point enough to repeat it back to us.

You're free to disagree with a buff to iron will but at least understand what we're talking about before calling people nonsensical.

"sloppy rates are going up" -> iw will see more uptime and therefore higher Pickrate (aka might become meta again)-> please buff by removing exhaustion restriction (even when the perk is fine the way it is)

    I don't see were i misunderstood anything.

I just think that there is no logical correlation or necessity to buff an already working and fine perk just because it might see more usage.

The higher uptime due to sloppy alone is enough incentive to increase the pick rate and value you get out of the perk and doesn't need a further buff.

It would be the same when killer player would say "gen regression perk X is getting nerfed so we will have to use perk Y instead, please additionally buff it even when it was fine/balanced already".

  • @devotedDBDenjoyer said:

why not? what's wrong with removing the exhaustion factor

it's not like sloppy isn't getting indirectly buffed this patch so i personally don't see the need to keep the exhaustion change on iron will

Because the argument "a perk that already works might become meta, so please buff it further" is nonsensical.

And if such an argument WOULD fly, then i hope everyone is prepared for a whole other can of whining threads asking for many other perks to get buffed just because they might see more use after a meta shift or another perk in the same category getting nerfed.

sloppy butcher = more consistently staying injured

iron will only works while injured

    😁

Wait, so iw will give consistently more value by beingmore useful but should ALSO get buffed according to op?

    Still makes no sense.

I agree that DS should not be deactivated in EGC. As someone who mains survivor and plays regularly but is not that good, it’s frustrating to almost never live to see the 5th gen pop and EGC. I love survivor, but I am absolutely terrible at looping/escaping chase. Being chased after unhook, I often go down very quickly. I think this perk should be altered to appeal to survivors who struggle with chase. If they severely decrease the amount of activation time of the perk, I think it could work very well. If you’re a seasoned survivor who can loop easily, why would you run DS? There is no benefit for seasoned survivors to run DS if they severely shorten DS’s activation time. What benefit would they have if they can loop and escape successfully? Could they even abuse it, being able to escape easily on their own and with such a shortened activation time? It would just waste a perk slot for them. Survivors who rarely make it to EGC and aren’t good loopers, like me, could use the perk to actually be able to escape once in a while when they actually survive till EGC. Then, if they improve their looping, they will no longer need to run DS. I think this change could largely benefit newer players and regulars like me who are still not good at looping. Thoughts?

Is it really necessary to open a second thread WITH THE AAME TOPIC right after posting in the other one?

    @HungrySnek said:

So, yesterday I had the same scenario a few times and it's absolutely stupid. I am playing a bloodpoint build because I want to hit the 2 Millionen Mark before the new Bloodweb Update goes life.

So I bring Decisive Strike, Deliverance, Prove Thyself and Kindred

The gens where completed pretty quickly since the killer chased one survivor for the whole match. So the end game starts and the survivor get's hooked, I trade with them since the killer Camps him. Then I get unhooked and.....Decisive Strike is deactivated because it's the endgame and I get tunneled again.

I don't understand how this change is fair. So the survivors gets punished because the killer wasn't able to spread pressure or hook me before?

Decisive Strike works only 1 time, is only activated for 60 seconds and deactivats itself anyway when you do a Action. Why this stupid "It's the end game so your perk is worthless" crap?

Edit: Also, no. Many people have explained why DS is deactivating in EGC and why that is better.

  • Well, this is the first complaint thread this way around I've seen.

Since i was a killer exclusive player, i only witnessed a bunch of survivor DCs but the most distinction between the two is that when the killer DCs everyone else gets to go into another match immediately. Not so with survivor early DCs, the other 4 have to slug throught a stacked match and no one is really having fun then. (Disregarding the stupid "Killanimation denial suicides" upon deathhook that make the whole matched void for the survivor in question)

  • Well, you partially answered your own question, the incentive is 100% on one side and i would guess your queue times as killer are nonexistent?

Because that are strong indicators that bhvrs speed over quality matchmaking approach is kicking in throwing anything that's in the queue together.

So the surplus of killers or survivor lobbies gets matched with the next best that's available on the other side.

And as long as that is the Modus operandi, this game will never FEEL balanced, no matter how much it might be.

Facecamping and tunneling already have no counterplay as it is and then killers hit on the hook for some reason. I find killer pretty easy and i win most of my matches. I want a challenge please.

Ah yes, the common "you face bad Survivors" or "you are low MMR" argument.

Let me explain something to you. If I constantly face bad Survivors over and over, surely my MMR would go up from winning constantly, and I would be facing better Survivors eventually, that argument does not inherently work in a game that has some sort of SBMM to dictate matchmaking. And here is the thing, I do face really damn good teams, I just have the patience and awareness to deal with Dead Hard, and rarely do Survivors actually use it effectively against me because of such.

And while we are here, I might as well provide a bit of advice.

Want to avoid hitting Dead Hard near a window/vault-location? Pay attention to the item they are holding, it can especially help since items are removed from their hands upon starting an animation, if you see someone run into a vault but the item not get removed you know they are going to Dead Hard (since there is a distance from a window/vault-location, and Im sure you understand where and when they will get the vault prompt). There are other subtle things as well that you can pick up on as well, which generally revolve around the experience level of the people you are playing against.

If you do lunge-swing into Dead Hard, you can quickly look up to avoid hitting the Survivor, and they will lose out on a significant amount of distance. This depends on the loops you want to use this trick on though, since you have to quickly decided if you want them to basically have another loop at whatever tile you are at or if you want them to use the Dead Hard's sprint burst for distance to reach a different (and potentially stronger or weaker) loop. You can do basic risk-analysis, like anyone else can, it's not that hard to decide when and where to do this.

I also briefly mention some other things about Dead Hard which are important to note in this reply below.

Hahaha the amount of focus, concentration and reflexes you expect here from killer players is ridiculous.

Killer with it's micro and macro managing against 4 people simultaneously while keeping a whole plethora of things in mind like the 16 perks, survivor cosmetics in relation to that, up to 7 gen states, dropped/broken pallets, etc etc. is already more mentally draining than playing survivor for many with it's lack of any downtime (like doing a gen, searching a chest, healing a teammate) and you expect to double that strain when killer have to keep that focus against EVERY survivor with dh popularity.

    Hahahaha the nerve.

Oh I was bullied up until early highschool and theres nothing in DbD that compares to that, but my experiences were much more on a personal level thanks to things I have no control over.

When it comes to "bullying" online, I start considering it when it starts going outside the game where they specifically go out of their way to mock or harass you. Pressing CTRL and taking advantage of game mechanics isnt bullying. They arent doing it because youre you, theyre doing it because you just so happen to be on the opposing side

Its like saying a guy who talks ######### in a sports game is a bully. Is it fun to deal with some one like that? Absolutely not, but its nothing personal.

Yeah, it's not personal but i personally see it as a problem to have that mentality as soon as they don't view the other side as a person any longer, which isn't the case.

Im well aware its a bad example, in my defense I couldn't come up with anything better at the time and even now I dont know how to say that pressing Control repeatedly and using perks in a video game aint bullying

A group ganging up and making fun of an individual falls under bullying in my book.

And that's what full hook denial groups are. They don't want to escape, they want as much "interaction" as possible with the killer. Only that this "interaction" comes at the cost of frustration and anger of the solo individual.

But i know you won't agree with me so don't bother to explain to me why you think different.

I have been bullied by halve my class through elementary and middle school so i know exactly how it feels FOR ME. And those groups aren't much different. Only the visual let's most people distance themselves from it.

You're reaching just as hard by trying to justify why people using perks in a video game is equivalent of getting punched and then getting kicked down on the ground. Its generic in game BM its nothing special

Talking about a bad example, that's not bullying but straight up assault. Bullying is way more than just physical violence.

There is nothing wrong with a third health state....on all 4 survivors......every chase 😂😂

Also the problem is and always was the free chase extension without prerequisite conditions or real limitations..

I think if you get kicked from a match and it literally gives you the error message "Lost Connection to Host" or whatever it is, I'm pretty sure that's different to someone manually choosing to "Leave Match", any internal match logs would show that. And yeah, it may be difficult to distinguish sometimes, but if there is a whole weekend of suspicious DDoS activity, asking for penalties to be refreshed isn't unreasonable.

Not really "lost connection to host" is the basic connection loss error i described in my previous post.

A program internal error could give the server proof that it wasn't a ragequit.

Also "leave match" is the most obvious ragequit option but the penalty also has to cover the ragequitters pulling their lan cable/shutting off their router/turning off their network adapter in windows/etc etc.

And all of those look the same for the game server as your internet provider having problems or a weather induced blackout for example. Your signal to the server just goes dark, that's all the server sees.

Edit: Of course they can turn penalties off altogether when DDoS is rampant but they can't detect individual cases. And we know how the game plays with penalties of and people with spines softer than pudding.

  • @Khastrx said:

Only if they also make adjustments so that disconnects from no fault of the player isn't counted towards the DC penalty. When those "alleged" DDoS attacks happened and people constantly being disconnected but getting penalties, yeah that wasn't really fair.

Sadly it's physically impossible for bhvrs server to distinguish a connection loss from a pulled plug/turned off lan adapter/router.

    Major times I can remember:

    • When they adjusted pallet vacuum and double pallets
    • The exhaustion changes
    • Every single time Decisive got nerfed
    • MoM release
    • The very SUGGESTION of nerfing Self-Care made people threaten to quit
    • Ruin rework
    • The killer closing hatch
    • Stranger Things removal
    • That time when the player base dropped after the Resident Evil release
    • Key and hatch rework
    • Pinhead NFTs
    • Boons
    • VHS and Evil Dead are surely gonna kill this game!!!
    • 6.1.0
    • Knight and Skull Merchant
    • Right now

You forgot the improved survivor animations 😉

  • I usually have them one slap so they have a visual and audio cue on their end.

If i encounter them again on my patrol i downed them and when the crow start they went on hook since the constant notifications got annoying.

From my experience (as a really old player), if this were like 2016-2018, I would agree back then, nowadays I do not agree.

I think engaging with these people is interesting and unique compared to normal matches, and BHVR has given the Killer more opportunities and avenues to properly deal with teams like this. The power of Survivors has been downscaled significantly through the years which makes these "power trips" much more like a stroll in the park (from my experience).

And coming from someone who occasionally hops in a 4-man SWF with flashlights, I am never trying to make the Killer mad, my goal is to have interactions with the Killer, and often I have a lot of nice and wholesome interactions with people in the community. And I think it is overall nice to take a break from trying my hardest every single match to escape, and I can use the time to improve my looping knowledge and mechanic skill at the game without such stress (and has lead to my improvement in the game).

I do think there is application where this is not bullying, there is application where it can be bullying, but I think instantly labeling a team as a "bully squad" is stupid. But by your logic, as soon as the opposing side is not having a fun time it is "bullying" which I disagree with since intentions matter. What if the Killer focuses a Survivor and kills that Survivor as 5 generators still remaining, is that bullying? Everyone else is having a bad time as a direct result of the Killer's actions, even if their intentions are not malicious, but by your logic, it would be bullying, but it really isnt.

People can play how they want, both Survivors and Killers, and saying otherwise is literally gatekeeping. And again calling these people "bullies" takes away from actual problematic behavior within the community. There are people who literally target and harass POC and LBGT+ members of the community yet those people face little to no repercussion for their actions, but the community get their pitchforks and torches when 4 people just mess around with flashlights. Think about that.

How about you think about the fact that your opinion might not the end-all-be-all and that other people can have other opinions and definitions.

I agree with @Thusly_Boned , teams that go into a match with no other intentions than to take agency away from the killer and try to controll the match are bully squads. They do the eqivalent thing as bullies in a school yards minus the verbal abuse.

It is still a herd behaviour picking on the individual and since there is no real possibility for exchange between survivor and killer, intentions can't be clearly conveyed and the interpretation and perception of the actions of the survivors lies with the killer player.

Edit: Also the survivor in your example force a certain playtstyle upon the killer that is in no way in line with their original goal according to the game. Tunneling/camping and so on lead to the same goal for the killer even with questionable means.

Edit2: And yes, i have been the victim of bullying through elementary and middle school. So i know how that ######### feels.

nah im sayin this is for xbox people not just to play with them its for them to talk

Ah okay so you want to make this a Xbox exclusive thread....on an open forum......good luck 😂 (btw, ex DBD player on PC here)

  • It's an on demand shield/parry/dodge that with successful timing prevents the loss of a health state in a situation that otherwise would've resulted in the survivor going down. Better?

If this was true, killer mains wouldn’t have bitched and moaned about dead hard for months.

They "bitched and moaned" about maps at the same time. Dead hard only makes it worse.

League of legends forum was gold. I remember those days. And the fan art section.

The delusional ban appeals were so fun.

    *Posts chatlog full of insults*

"I haven't done anything to deserve this ban!!1!"

    What?

Translation: 4 people slugging sucks and something should be done about it.

  • Yes, the killer will never be part of the "party" outside of kill your friends and both sides goal are hard counteracting each other. Most party games are a "race" to a similar goal.

And can we stop associating competitive with eSports at the same time.

Lets wait how many days or hours it will take after the Patch went live until Killers complain about Sprint Burst. :)

Probably the same time it usually takes for both sides to switch to another perk when the current complained one is finally nuked.

You really think these changes are gonna make it to live servers we are gonna do what the killers have done for years

And what would that be? (Btw who is we, pluralis majestatis?)

Please don't tell me "crying and complaining on the forum" because BOTH sides have been at it for 6-7 years without break. So your "threat" would be at best, it will keep going as always.

You say this under almost every thread I post… obsession much?

Two out of nine is almost every? Damn.

  • Another freshy screaming into the void, even straight up lies. "No killer nerphs" 🤣

Edit: And when taking the user name into account, op should be a 40 year old adult. Not some kiddy venting their rage over a video game.
