Isn't it then time for you to quit the game again?
And don't forget to make a dramatic thread here again please.
-
Yeah pure popcorn entertainment. 🍿
The reason why I am on this forum after my beloved lol forum and the ridiculous ban appeals there are gone 😢

"Why? I never understood the obsession of killing the meta", I am pretty sure having stale meta is not okay either. Multiple games do so, every few months from what I've been told (like OW or LoL, if someone can confirm).
Anyhow, having a meta is alright but not for 6 years straight. Even 6 months is too much tbh, a stale meta is an issue.
Well, in case of league, i don't play much overwatch, the meta barely sees the nuke like DBD has for the last year.
It gets tweaked every two weeks and if something is really broken it gets cut down in line with the rest
Below diamond ranks anything is relatively viable. Some things more and other less but they can be compensated by skill and experience.
But the meta changes in lol are also much more organic, resulting from other big changes like jungle, item or rune system revamps or a class of champions getting some more love for a season like the big bruiser, assassin, mage, tank and ADC changes over the last 5 years.
It didn't make any one of those changes an extreme outlier like dh is for exhaustion perks but kept everything mostly in line with each other.
In DBD they have started to nuke everything that gets complained about. Not to balance it but to get they players to just not use those things anymore. It's just the easy and lazy route and will end up with nothing being really useful and there having less or no impact. If they keep going at this pace, you might end up with a DBD where being basicly perk less won't make much of a difference anymore.

I have the scene from matrix revolutions in my mind where the commando post celebrates when one if the drills goes down only for another one to breach. XD
"Drill is down"
Yaaaaaay
"Second breach"
"Dammit"
And I am just waiting here for the "dammit!" When something else remains or emerges broken/too strong. For example:
"COH is dead!"
Killer: Yaaaaaay
"Gen speeds went through the roof/our slowdown was nuked!"
Killer: "Dammit!"
Let's not celebrate too early like with the first dh Nerf.

I used to try to make sure survivors have fun when I play killer but after a while, I stop caring as much. The amount of "gg ez", "gg baby killer" or teabags at the gate just got to me and just made me play more for myself instead of others. Now my mindset is "Why should I care about others' fun when no one cares about my own fun as a killer?"
This ∆
I played for the fun of survivor, partially because it feels good to be nice and partially because of all the "only campers, tunnelers, etc. everywhere" on these forums, to be the breath of fresh air.
Wasn't met with much positiv feedback and worse a bunch of the stuff mentioned by BlueRose and in the end lost the motivation.
-
This thread here is a prime example of why I left the game over a year ago and despite having played since it's release still have less than 400 hours in it.
Being nice by nature or choice has its limits when all you get is indifference or alternatively crap for it.
From my anecdotal experience positive feedback is about as rare or even more rare than open toxicity. But the general feedback is either empty or only comes after games where you as the killer felt like crap getting stomped.
And don't you ever dare to say to openly admit that the round felt like crap for you as the killer, that might turn even the GG into open toxicity, i speak from experience here.
-
Sure go and implement it, but don't expect any positive results if you don't compensate killer on the chase/gen speed front.
Casual killer will ultimately completely die out and you will be left with the sweatiest of tryhards and survivor switching over to killer, playing until they also either quit or tryhard to the max.
Just go for it.

I'm sorry you got a group of survivors that were memeing around and interacting with you. My condolences. Be thankful they weren't humping gens the entire match, desperate to escape as fast as possible. Whenever I get a killer that seems like they're chill and trying to have fun, I will just stop doing generators to go interact with them.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3376499#Comment_3376499
DBD is a fake game. They designed it wrong. Either side trying to play as optimally as possible, makes the game utterly miserable to play.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3376484#Comment_3376484
None of the games you listed are asymmetrical party games that were outright designed wrong, where one side or the other can make matches an unbearably boring slog to get through.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3376486#Comment_3376486
I don't think we would be seeing so many players and content creators talking about how the game's in the worst state it's ever been in and how they want to quit the game, if 3 gen camping, camping, tunneling, loop denial, hiding and gen rushing, etc., were things most people enjoyed playing against.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3376809#Comment_3376809
The point of the thread was to complain about the current state of the game, and how the current meta and design of the game has enabled/encouraged people to optimize all of the fun out of the game and make it completely and utterly miserable to play. It was kind of a straightforward point.
Oh scurry off with the party game fallacy, i heard enough of that. The same BS like always connecting "competitive" with eSports/pro league.
DBD isn't a party game, the killer is never part of the "party". They are always working against the rest with hard counteracting goals.
One side having fun almost always comes at the expense of the other sides fun. Being in control is fun and inherently excluding in DBD.
Edit: Also, none of what you said mattered to the point of your thread about optimizing the hell out of a game.
That has been the go to standard in ANY game since the birth of global information sharing in the internet.
Be it PvE like Wow or any of the pvp titles i named you.
And to name another example from the asymmetrical cathegory for you: VHS and Friday 13th, where the teenager/counselor at first were scared of the killer until they noticed how to optimally play against the killer, leaving the latter powerless.
Edit2: Nvm, i just reread what you answered first in the quoted post. We lost all common ground for discussions.
You call a bully squad trying to incapacitate the killer with Headon and flashlights for as much as possible, playing hard hook denial, "memeing around and (fun) interacting".
I guess I have nothing to say to you anymore.

4 diferents gens across the map? so what the killers is doing?
takes like 95-100s to do one gen, 90% of the killers are blights with sabe copy paste build and tunneling u right after the unhook, u don't even need to tunnel to win like 98% of the matchs, kill one guy then switch to another one and then go back, u don't need to literraly go for only one survivor the whole game, that's what bad killer do and when they get stomp by a SWF they ask for nerf, i play for like 5 years never had to such crap play style to win and i used to play red ranks and top mmr.
Tunneling in this game is a design flaw like camping but devs don't care but at least everyoned should have a chance to even play and not just watch yourself on the hook for 2minutes or 4m on the ground with loud music.
Damn, it takes 95-100 seconds to do a 90 charges gen at 1 charge/second?
I guess you miss quite a lot of skill checks on average to need the additional 5-10+ seconds.
Also, 90% blights and some arbitrary 98%? Maybe tone down your hyperbole and exaggerating and people might believe your arguments.

No, because it's fun to use and try to get value out of. Contrary to what most of the people in this awful community seem to think, the game should actually be fun to play.
Also, it was already nerfed into the ground.
Yeah.... the "fun" at the expense of the killer.
Dh is just the most "screw you, in your face" option.
The killer has already put in 2 chases of 20-30 seconds and now is left with the option of going for a third or drop chase and waste the invested minute. And that on every hook state, without camping or tunneling. So fun.

Then it would ultimately be better for survivors if we got rid of it, right?
I see it multiple times every match. Those survivors who do run it must just be confused, then, since the other exhaustion perks are so much stronger and completely uncounterable, and it would be better for them if they were forced to use other exhaustion perks.
Every survivor main on the forums seems to be in agreement on this: other exhaustion perks are so much better and DH is completely counterable in every circumstance.
Why don't we just nerf Dead Hard into the ground and make everyone happy?
B-b-but, but, but......my "fun" 'hahaha screw you, in your face' moment at the END of the SECOND chase where the killer has already wasted probably a minute on me and can only decide to go for an additional 20-30 chase or waste all their effort until now. /S

Is playing to have fun, instead of optimizing the easiest win and making the most boring matches possible, off the table?
Ehm that's the norm in any pvp game?
League of Legends/DotA established the 1/1/1/2 lane system, rocket league gets dominated by people able to do aireals, rainbow six siege went from a defensive turtle tactic for defenders to aggressive breaking down walls for additional LoS and lurking, and so on...
It's the natural progression for any pvp game and people can call DBD a "party game" until they turn blue, it will always remain a two sided pvp game.
Not a free for all, not a real coop ..... nothing but two sides combating each other.
-
I love the multiple "You CAN play like that but don't expect nice words" answers here.
As if playing normal or friendly would suddenly earn the killer niceties or praise 😂
80-90% it nothing, 5-10% it's blatant toxicity either way and the other 5-10% you might be lucky to get a GG or something nice. And the most GG come after getting stomped by the survivors (all anecdotal)

So survivor should just give killer free kill to get out of that situation. Is killer just entitled to 4K with 100% chance? Killer has multiple options in this situation whereas survivor does not have that much he can do the game is not 1vs1 with both sides equal power...They should just start EGC if killer is AFK blocking the hatch extended time that would fix this problem.
Only fix hatch need in my opinion that it should spawn like 10-20s later than now so it does not give free escape when killer slugged succesfully for 4K and the hatch spawned exactly under the last survivor or slugged survivor could be unable to escape through hatch.
This isn't about what killer or survivor want or should do but what they are doing and that neither of them get to cry over wasted time due their opponents AND own greed.
-
I guess someone got just killed by a tier 3 Myers.
-
@Krazzik said:
It is pretty odd. Like yeah the average is gonna be less because the killer is guarenteed to be there for the entire game and survivors can die but even when you compare survivors who escape to killer, killer still usually wins out.
Maybe because killer already misses the incentive of playing with friends and is the more stressful, multitasking, micromanaging role?
Survivor have downtime when not in chase, killer is non stop action. Many even listen to music or have a stream open on a second screen (anecdotes from other forum members over the years).
-
Yeah DCs should count into adepts.
Way to easy to ruin attempts for toxic people once they notice that a killer only runs the adept perks.
Before you could try to friendly farm your way into adepts at low grades but not anymore.
And survivor always have been sensitive about getting sacrificed. What i mean is, even after a full farm round, you would need extreme luck for all survivor allowing you to get a 4k. Kill even one after a 30 minute farmfest and the rest will still try to run for their lives since the expected outcome of a farm round is the 4e.

I honestly doubt this is very much due to the current mechanics of the game and more that this game has been out for nearly 7 years and everyone at the higher end of play is trying to play optimally.
This isn't a unique phenomenon to DBD; all games become stale when the players optimize, because often there is only one optimal way to play. This makes every match identical.
The solution is to frustrate the optimization process by constantly changing the tools and mechanics that emerge as the most optimal.
BHVR doesn't seem interested in doing this, though. The only significant perk shake-up they had (6.1.0) displaced a few meta perks permanently (pop, ruin, etc.) but others only temporarily (e.g. DH was absent from most matches until survivors realized it was still broken and now we're back to 3-4 a match). This shake-up was successful in the short term but it wasn't followed up quickly enough with another shake-up when the new meta became apparent.
There needs to be a shake-up probably every 3 months at a minimum or the game becomes stale.
Oh boy, a meta shake up every 3 months ... with a company that balances it's game also only every 3 months? 😂😂😂
Other live service pvp games have 6-12 month seasons before a shake up but also biweekly balancing.
This would never work with DBD in it's current form and the current methods the devs have used.
It was already a miracle that skull merchants release didn't break something else like it happened with the last 5-10 killers.

I don't understand why people treat survivors waiting at the exit gates as some kind of impenetrable barrier.
They're not nice, but you don't have to just wait there. You can push them out at any time. You just don't want to. And because you won't, you.. force people to wait out timers they can't speed up.
I don't get it.
What's there not to get?
Either i let them wiggle their middle finger in vain and let them waste their own time or i give them what they want .... an audience.
To make it fair i would love for survivor to get a 10 second bleed out button but only when they watch the killer style on them or butt dance/emote somehow.
Would be an interesting experiment to see how many survivor would opt to wait or watch. 🤔

The thing is, as survivor, i leave as soon as i know all other survivors are save. However, as a solo survivor you dont always know. Thats where the hud does a good thing, becaus if no survivor is in a chase (and thus less risk of being downed) i can just leave. Has nothing to do with audience (also if its an instadown-killer or i am on death hook, i leave anyway. Just trading places does nothing for me)
Aaaaaand again someone that is the exception thinks it's the norm.
I never tunneled or camped in the last 2 years i played explicitly and intentionally, still i was getting BMed, tbagged and so on left and right.
Just because we are the exception doesn't mean a whole lot of questionable people aren't doing their best to make the other side miserable.
Just saying "but i don't" doesn't make a difference.
Edit: Or do be a little more direct/rude: I don't care what YOU do when a not insignificant Portion of the others is still an #########.

And OPs suggestion of a Blood Warden only prolongs the game even further. Now what?
I said it before and I say it again, if all survivor remaining are healthy and inside a distance from the gate that is save to run back to upon sighting the killer , they all get sucked out and the match ends. With the exception of the killer being inside that zone so maybe some meaningful interaction might still happen, so the killer can decide to leave the zone and end the game that way.
No argument for BP for healing or rescuing someone and taking any hits for BP is a thing of the past anyway (95% nowadays it's a fake out last second denial power trip).
Either they have to take risks for their rude behaviour or get booted out.

If it means no more future hatch challenges, absolutely.
Also off topic, and I'm absolutely sure this was discussed in the past, but why isn't it that after each survivor death, the required number of gens to complete isn't equivalent to the number of survivors still alive -1? Would that be something too easily abusable, or would it help incentivize those still in the trial to keep working towards their goal in the event of early death or DCing?
And how would that be supposed to work?
5 gens, 4 survivor alive -> first death -> instantly 3 gens get automatically done because 3-1=2?
Who determines which gens get automatically finished? The ones with progress? Spread across the map or clumped on one side or the ones closest to the middle?
And you cant see how this wouldn't be abusable or what a horror this would be to balance/implement?

It looks like you just got kind of whooped as a killer. It happens sometimes. You'll get'em next time!
I would guess the post is meant ironic, sarcastic or something the like.
Its a jab at survivor whining about getting bled out, meanwhile they most often wait the full 3 minutes until egc is over to have an audience before leaving.
Of course those groups aren't necessarily the same but for example from my experience the latter is far more frequent than the former even without any provocation (anecdotal from a friendly/fair playing killer).

Did you even read my entire post? What is with the false accusations? I never hold any games hostage!
First of all the "you" in the English language does not differentiate between addressing a person directly and making a general statement, so chill.
@arcticgirl36 said:
If this was a fair world, people would understand that the survivor can no more hold the game hostage by hiding than the killer can hold the game hostage by not finding them. It shows that the game has serious flaws or at best is biased and killer-centric. Think about it logically. The mission of the killer is to hook or kill survivors for the entity. So, if they are not doing that, they are holding the game hostage. But the burden and blame always seems to fall on the survivors who are hiding. Everybody thinks survivors should work on generators, but nobody thinks the killer is holding the game hostage for not finding and hooking the survivors? The killer can just hook the survivors and end the game. Why don't they? Perhaps there is a shortcoming of the games development that is being blame shifted to survivors.
p.s. I personally work on generators and do not enjoy hiding. But I understand some people like to hide and stay safe. If the game doesn't want people to do that it should add some game mechanics to correct that. You shouldn't simply be banned for doing things the game allows.
You forget or ignore that the killer is ACTIVELY trying to find the survivor to make progress, meanwhile the survivor is actively trying to deny said progress while also not making any of their own.
One is trying to progress and the other is trying to stall for as long as possible.
And yes holding a 3 gen without any attempt to chase can fall into the same category. but the line between normal gameplay and real holding hostage is way harder to determine here.
Both have been confirmed by Dev/community managers.

Alright, then those who get hooked the first time and self kill themselves on hook without even struggling or waiting should also get banned since they are abandoning the match on purpose by giving killers easy kills while leaving a survivor team in an already not so good situation especially when it's still 5 generators left.
Since you are new to this forum seemingly, yes many people have asked for for early "hook exits" to be punished just like DCs.
And to make the other point clear again. If the killer player didn't choose doc, the right add-ons for some other killer or any of the tracking perks then there is NO WAY for them to find crouching survivors going from locker to locker except finding them with LUCK.
No scratch marks from running, no crows flying off in the distance due to crouching, no blood/sound from being injured, no progress on any gen, nothing.
And while you did nothing but sneak around, so not progressing the game, the killer at least TRIES to find you and progress, so their is the difference you were missing in your comparison posts.
-
@Ayodam said:
I’ve never seen someone banned for this. And I think BHVR tries to avoid really dealing with it because punishing survivors for hiding from/evading the killer is counterintuitive to their goal of survival. People will say you’re holding the game hostage but tbh there are ways for killers to track survivors (the one I’m specifically thinking of is crows) even when survivors are stealthing.
How long have you been playing? Crows simply don't go off when survivor don't walk/run. And afk crows can still be avoided be small movement and emoting.
Killer have NO tool to find survivor except luck when they didn't choose a specific killer or brought a specific tracking perk for this kind of situation.
-
Well back when i played i got 1 minute wasted EVERY match in lobby for someone to finish their build or rather pull a "sneaky" last second switch (which lost them all interaction with me during the match) and 3 further minutes waiting for them to leave.
The latter of course was partial willingly from my side since i didn't want to give them any satisfaction by giving them an audience when pushing them out and in petty revenge make them waste their own 3 minutes while i used that time productively (also an option for anyone getting bled out btw).
But yeah, fast queue times due to muddy and broad matchmaking requirements is, was and always will be a stupid decision.

Question. I've only been playing since august. How did old dead hard work?
It was a 0.5 second dash that gave a few meter additional distance to emulate "dodging an attack" plus the still remaining invincibility frames during it.
But at some point it wasn't used to dodge a hit but simply to gain the free distance to make one more loop or reach a window or similar. This was also done outside of the killers reach, the "dead hard for distance".
Killer that weren't dash or projectile killers couldn't do ANYTHING against it.
It also made the survivor lose collision so the could try to dash through the killer, to more or less success depending on the experience of the killer player, and they could dash THROUGH trapper traps.

As a someone who has been playing survivor a little more than killer something has to be done about these cheap tactics that killers love to defend. Tunneling and camping are stale strategies and killers do it for easy wins but god forbid a swf gen rushes for "easy wins" Killers are hypocritical and i’m over it. The tunneling and camping is genuinely draining the fun out of games for survivors. I haven’t even mentioned the slugging for the 4k all of this is not fun. Before anyone says "bring anti tunneling perks" The anti tunneling perks we have are trash. Ds is a joke. Otr is useless especially if you’re being tunneled bc of basekit bt once they hit you otr is gone.

I’ve been playing Survivor more than I have killer recently and It’s been nothing constant toxicity match to match. I get tunnelled out and camped which okay it’s a strategy I guess but getting that every single match when you didn’t do anything toxic is not right. This match I just recently had was the last straw and it really sucks because I actually like this game.. I was going against a demo with a friend of mine he was extremely toxic to me from the start of the match for no reason so I just tried killing myself to just go next and not deal with it but he purposely went out of his way to not hook me and slug me and shake his head and nod at me for no reason and he was only doing this to me specifically because he didn’t do to my friend or my other teammates and I didn’t deserve that because I didn’t teabag or flashlight click or anything. Before anyone says I’m being overdramatic I’m not because the games before that was the exact thing so i’m done.
I guess you couldn't stay away for long. Despite the game being sooo baaaad right now.

Well they seemingly managed to distract the killer for full 7,5 minutes and more if you did all the gens and had time for a save.

Unlike a smart proxy camp or a necessary tunnel for whatever reason, slugging for THAT long is NEVER something that should happen in a match. When it happens it's just pure toxicity from the killer, unless you're too far from any hooks, that's literally the only scenario I can think of where a killer wouldn't be interested in picking you up.
Also if I'm not mistaken you bleed out faster while crawling, so keep moving if you're slugged.
Don't forget the survivor that just crawl away to the edge of the map into hiding when the killer doesn't pick them up to chase a potential flashlight saver or something.
It's not always meant toxic but simply the inability to find the place where you left them.
-
No, i haven't really regret it to play friendly/nice no matter how the survivors reacted to that because it was my conscious choice to play like that no matter what.
But thanks to the majority of time getting negative feedback/toxicity for an answer or alternative non at all, i have lost most empathy with the vocal part on these forum complaining about camping and tunneling.
It's to be expected that all killer either shift to other games or unfun tactics when the "fun and friendly" playtstyle (which is way more prone to losing) gets the same treatment either way.

I think overwhelmingly most killers don't like to chase, and that's the feedback BHVR gets. It's why the gen kick meta + 3 gen strat gained such popularity so fast. Great success with very little need to chase. So the devs will probably release more anti-loop killers so that chasing and looping doesn't seem so tedious.
Well yeah, it isn't really fun feeling like the fat kid playing tag and getting denied at every pallet/window and in all the non mindgameable loops.
Especially when your favorite killer character isn't equipped with the means to play against that.
@topic what does op expect? There are 4 survivors and killer can chase each one only so much before it becomes throwing the game. The alternative would be constant attention onto one survivor but that's tunneling and most survivor also don't want that.

I run Lightborn all the time.
I try to look away from flashlights and pick up facing walls, so they don't know I have it. Meanwhile, it saves me from those "impossible angle" saves, flashbangs, firecrackers, and if they get so much as a partial blind I get to see their aura for a bit.
If I get hit with Blast Mine, I can see their aura after the stun. If I see no aura, I know to search nearby lockers.
Also, no more animation-lock blinds at pallets.
Big quality of life for me.
All hail our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎

I'd much rather save that perk slot for Franklin's which counters every item a survivor brings + sets an immediate trap for them. We all know that some survivors will die for their items, especially their purple beamers 😈
But if you want real value i would also do this ^
It's hilarious how stubborn they can get to get their toy back.
Edit: But be careful, if you are a friendly 8hook/0k killer like me, at the exit gate and don't give them the love tap out of the door.
I have been accidentally "toxic/rude" by hitting the item out of their hand at the finish line on more than one occasion simply because I forgot that i had franklin's on from the match before or because I expected a bully squad.

Well looking at this post from you in another thread tells me all I need to know about you being biased:

This whole community is hypocritical. The killers cry and complain together about being "bullied" but dont have any sympathy for survivors. But so many survivors have sympathy for killers. I wonder when thats gonna run out. Most of these people are purposely missing the point that you were held hostage in a game. Even though that a bannable. They are pulling any excuse they can to be biased. They brought you being solo q even though you werent. They are once again obessing about dead hard when the post isnt about dh. They are bringing up "denying a killer bloodpoints" when i guess no one scares about survivors bloodpoints or pips. Honestly they are just creating a bigger divide
"But so many survivor have sympathy for killer"
Complete and utter BS.
Back when i played the number difference in given hatch escapes versus pity hooks much less kills was unbelievably lopsided.
I even made a thread back then about nice gestures from survivors and they were extremely rare.

Definitely, but I can actually do something about it on killer. It's very, very rare that I run into a team that can bully me. It basically has to be an active comp team that I'm not ready for, and even then I'll probably get a 1 or 2k. I can simply end the game at 3-5 gens most of the time if survivors try to bully me. I can't do that on survivor though. Survivors are only as good as their worst teammate in solo queue when a killer is being toxic or sweaty. So it feels much worse.
Maybe you, but how many hours do you have in this game and how many killers are also just casual, not living in this game like some streamer (this part is not aimed at you but the general notion) and don't have your expertise to combat such survivors?
Arguments like yours always come from the pov of someone with abundend experience on the killer side and argue for solo casual survivor.
Either compare both to the same standards or not at all.

We shouldn’t have to play killer to avoid toxicity.
As if playing killer would, in any shape or form, be free of toxicity. 😂
The number differential in opponents alone gives much more chance to encounter unreasonable toxicity.

Seriously, you run Dead Hard means you deserve to be tunneled now?
Killer seemingly deserved all kinds of abuse for running for example NoED for years now so i don't see a real problem here. /S
An eye for an eye....until the world goes blind. 😮💨

obviously with MM it’s hard to get an average but most games involve 1 getting tunnelled out so 3 hooks and then getting 2-4 extra hooks until all gens are done
I guess you didn't get my point. When survivor want tunneling and camping to be made impossible then an average of 5-7 hooks doesn't cut it anymore.
Either we argue with the abolishment of those tactics in mind all the time or never.
