Losing 2-3 gens is pretty normal on first chase and should realistically happen every game just like the killer on average gets 5-7 hooks per game

Best you can do is play the 5 gens that you’re left with and focus on creating dead zones to lead survivors into especially if they predrop pallets

5-7 hooks per game on average?

So 0-1k for every killer that does try to play in accordance with the general complaints about tunneling and camping?

it's literally the only thing that he has that's good right now... Aren't you satysfied of the nerfs that he got previously? They already removed his peculiar ability of aiming without delay, making him clunky as hell and increased his TR to 32 despite he's a 4.4 MS killer... Leave alone this killer, he was nerfed too much already

Op also complains about wraith and trapper,so i wouldn't expect too much from them.

  • @SpaghettiVase said:

This is like your third thread complaining about killers you struggle with.

I was about to say the same.

Two about fcking wraith of all things and a trapper thread a few hours ago and now this.

I don't deny that killer can be hard at times. I am saying you can't compare the "having no options at all" to actually being able to do stuff and change playstyle throughout the game? You guys are compairing being facecamped all match, to sweating against SWFs and no I don't think it's comparable.. It's nowhere near the same. You can still choose to give up a chase, go for someone else, do something else. If you are facecamped, farmed by your teammates, sandbagged ect you got no options at all..

    Yeah it's not the same:

    - One ends after two minutes

    - the other can keep on going for indefinite if your opponents so desire.

  • @jamally093 said:

Everyone says oh the counter to Wraith is you can hear him growling...uh fun fact no I can't even with volume up at the loudest I don't hear it either I've gone completely deaf or everyone has super powers.

Because I seriously can't hear Wraith's growling noise people say he has(when he doesn't) so basically like always Wraith has no counter or I just have an extremely old version of the game where Wraith never had a growl.

Why the heck did you make this into a whole new thread instead of continuing in your original one:

    @jamally093 said:

Facing him I just don't care once I hear that bell I just I'm done in the match I'm not escaping at all even if he had no add-ons. Basically by that time I just oh guess I'll just die in this match since I can't find a counter to him.

Yes that's why the Silent Bell or the one that makes the bell sound distant combined with the one that keeps you hidden a few seconds out of uncloak are good ones for him to use to get past that nasty nerf

Well then without those specific add-ons he is a basic ass M1 killer with faster map traversal and shouldn't be a problem at all for slightly experienced survivor, right?

I do and I still can't meaning I'm either deaf or basically have an extremely old copy of the game.

"Old copy" of a live service games that get updated automatically?

You still Got options don’t you? In the lobby you see what items the survivors bring in and Can make a plan accordingly. Lots or flashlights -lightborn. Lots of toolboxes - gen perks. You have the option to make a plan before you even go into the game.

You decide which survivors you want to chase, for How Long. Are you going to put pressure on gens, are you going to make a 3-gen strategy… even in the shittiest games, you still get a decent amount of BP for chases, kicking gens, slugging ect.. even with no kills

If you are facecamped you have absolutely zero actual options. You are wasting an entire match doing nothing, because the killer chose this “strategy” and you Can either DC and get zero points, try to kobe (most likely die) and get zero points or stay on the hook and buy your teammates time (still die) and get a ridiculous amount of BP for your trouble. Same with tunneling. If your teammates are sandbagging you, unhooking you in front of the killer ect you don’t have any perks to actually counter it. Killers have the option of countering everything the survivors bring into the game, and even have perks to stalling the end-game. Survivors doesn’t have ######### to counter tunneling or facecamping… absolutely nothing after DS Got nerfed to the Ground

I love how you downplay or straight up ignore all the frustration/stress of playing killer playing like "being the fat kid in tag" getting denied at every pallet, window or due to perks when playing casual.

A lot of Them say that neither are preventing me from playing the game? I am not twisting anything, read the comments, lmao.

No, they say neither is "taking you hostage". And they aren't. The definition of taking someone hostage in this game is that you are forced to stay in a match indefinitely.

You just attributed that phrase to not being able to play.

You are not bodyblocked in a corner unable to do anything.

Hanging on hook has a definitive end and is part of the gameplay loop. Same with chasing, even when the killer tunnelvisions you out.

And what you want is perks for survivor that let them fight the killer on eye level in certain scenarios while also saying "swf wouldn't waste a perk slot" on something like a 10 second stun DS.

But newsflash, they would with pleasure since it makes their games easier. Swf already ran old DS+UB+BT+DH regularly. According to you they wouldn't do that because they can cover for each other. Pfffft, dream on.

  • @Tjiani said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3352099#Comment_3352099

It’s both. I still Think Facecamping and tunneling should be less beneficial for the killer to do. I still Think it ruins the game. You are all saying that facecamping is not preventing the hooked survivor from playing the game, but none of you Can come up with actual counterplay or options for the person hooked the entire match.

Tunneling is not too bad if you are in a SWF but waay too strong when dealing with solo survivors because they are never guaranteed a helping hand from their teammates, often quite the opposite. Being unhooked right in front of the killer, gives you what options to survive? DS 3 second stun or a DH easy to wait out? People sandbagging, noone willing to take a hit ect. There is only so much you can do when you are on your own. If solo survivor is gonna survive, it needs to be balanced more and I Think this is a Way to do it. People need to feel that they can protect themselves and right now there are no perks strong enough to balance solo.

NO ONE said FACECAMPING isn't preventing you from playing, they said TUNNELING isn't.

Don't twist the truth for your agenda.

I'm trying to get you to understand that you've gone up against tons of swiffers that never did anything to you, you just don't realise it, because you only and exclusively think it's a swiffer if they're a bully squad.

    But isn't that mostly true?

Not every swf is a bully squad but (nearly) every bully squad is a swf group?

Randoms simply lack the coordination and the accompanying balls to play in a bully squad (successfully).

Also to your question about "how do you know it's an swf?". While @Sillymare has brought up on false and two very subjective arguments, they also said they play on PC and it's really easy to identify a swf from other steam players, check their profiles.

And since more than 90% of all lobbies you have to wait for survivor to ready up (if at all), you have more than enough tike and in my case boredom to check their profiles.

It's the funniest thing when 2 of 3 or 3 of 4 have their profile on private only for the last guy to have them all visible on their friendliest.

Of course this also doesn't work cross platform and the majority of the time it's back to the subjective guessing game.

Another indicator btw would be simultaneously last second switching. Randoms rarely do it in tandem.

Disclaimer: Yes i regularly checked profiles (again, why can't they just ready up ugh.) but i don't change my playtstyle when i find one. Tbh i was so casual and bad that i couldn't really change my playstyle to compensate anything. I already played with Lightborn on all my killers and cathegorically refused to tunnel or camp because of my experiment.

  • Welcome to a pvp game that has itself slestablished for years and the general playerbase has found the most efficient ways to play.

I could say the same when playing rocket league or rainbow six siege.

I played both when they released, same as DBD, and in the beginning no one know how to play most efficiently and the game was way more relaxed.

Try to play rocket league without being somewhat proficient in aerials or try to approach the building in R6S without either being spawn killed or shot through 3 walls at an angle that pros found by breaking specific points in the map.

Same with DBD, in the beginning survivor were borderline brokenly strong but until the masses found the infinites killer were dominating just from basic gameplay.

There will always be the "perfect" way to play to win and thanks to YouTube, social Media and the internet itself, information like that spreads like wildfire.

  • "hooks broken" as in permanently broken or the 3 minute respawn broken?

Because braking hooks in a 15 meter radius times 4 can be absolutely broken potentially making half the map into hook dead zones. Especially looking at maps like rpd, the game or midwich.

  • Wasn't wraiths after uncloak speed and lunge nerfed?

Isn't it possible to simply run away from him to the nearest window/pallet once he starts bonking to uncloak?

  • Well i never saw any incentive for killer not to do it. Not from the game itself and definitely not from the majority of survivors.

I played intentionally fair and friendly for two years and for the majority of the time survivor behaved just indifferent or even toxic and used a killer going "easy" on them to style on the killer and rub the escape in instead of being grateful for the exception of a no tunneling/camping killer.

And I don't care if you people in this thread personally do show appreciation, the majority doesn't.

  • In before this list ONCE AGAIN blows up onto 3-4 pages and in the end every killer will be nominated 🥱

I don't know why these questions pop up regularly again and again, even from people that have been on these forums for a relative long time and seen the other similar posts.

(For clarification, i find these threads useless since it will always end with the whole roster getting nominated and the small sample size not being enough to see a real trend outside the usual suspects, that's also get nominated first EVERYTIME)

  • Is this something really new?

From my experience this hating and insulting for your choices of for example playing with a specific perk, swf or a specific killer (no matter the playtstyle btw) has happened for the last 6 years.

  • Ah okay, that's the first time I see the killer in action, since i don't play anymore, and yes the survivor stand up is copied exactly until the arm holding, the killer anymation was new with the drone on the side and different angle but damn the whole thing is basicly the same.

And holy.... Yeah that screams "we wanted the predator", couldn't get it and pasted something else over it.

Survivor main of 4+ years here:

I used to avoid DCing, but not so much nowadays. I'm playing a game, and if I'm not having a good time I'm free to leave at any time. While not the best for every one else, I'm not duty bound to stick around and be someone's punching bag.

It's not fun to get slammed by Eruption Jolt followed with Pain Res DMS. Makes it even worse when it's the 5th game in a row with the same perk set. I don't enjoy playing against the ######### show of Knight, nor do I enjoy the deadzone festival of Shelter Woods. Stack it all together to varying levels. If I'm not having a particularly bad time, I'll slap that DC button harder than Putin wants to slap the nukes with no regrets.

Well....that's what DC penalties are there for. 👍

Sadly it seems they are way too lenient at the moment.

  • @Rudjohns said:

Sure, but what is gonna hold the killer back to do those things eventually? Nothing. That's my point.

    Still doesn't excuse rage quitting.

  • @Rudjohns said:

If the game was impossible to camp and tunnel I am 100% sure the number of DC and suicide will drop exponentially

Strange, most of those ragequits occured before any of that could happen, upon map loading/first sign of what killer it is/the time for the first down or hook being too short. At least back when i played as a friendly killer.

  • @Phantom_ said:

Because on some servers there's quite a language barrier, like the EU ones. Not everyone speaks English, yet you're being paired up with people from all across Europe, so that would make communication very difficult. And people who play with friends already have access to comms elswhere.

This argument is such a none factor when nearly every other online game on the market has built in voice chat and also connects people across Europe.

Also it matters when a game isn't balanced, designed or optimised for people using outside communication.

In all other games this also becomes a non factor since both sides are always equal and not using said third party comms is most often a choice. Not so in asymmetrical games.

  • I don't judge swf just like i don't judge premade teams in R6S or lol.

But i judge games that don't accommodate for that or aren't balanced/compensating for the possible advantages.

And DBD is nearly the only one that doesn't.

Other games at least try to balance premade teams by setting them also up against teams or by compensation with higher MMR matchmaking.

  • Damn, i thought the time of the meme worthy "everything the killer has/does needs a tell/cool down/downside/restriction" threads was over.

Guess i was naive and wrong.

  • It would be better when 50% was base for both sides and could go up to 150/200% when imbalanced.

They took the bonus from perks but with that made it random and no longer in the hands of the respective player.

  • A thread from the person that made this:

    @ironblade said:

and dead hard, circle of healing and windows of opportunity are fine too. There are no problems with these perks. What would balance the game though is nerfing Scourge hook pain resonance. I also like the any means necessary buff it actually is useful now which brings more perk viability on the table.

    Enough said.

  • @Tsulan said:

So you don´t want killer buffs because most people play after school/work?

Also, yesterday the bonus for killer was at 100% at 17:30.

    @Piruluk said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344849#Comment_3344849

For a moment yes but later fallen back to 50%, and eventually no side had bonus, only around 19:00-20:00 got back to 100% for killer.

And yes I fear that there will be too many killer and isnt enough survivor, and I am not fan of playing till midnight or after midnight to get bonus, I would love to have it as soon as possible.

But anyway thanks for the hint, I will check more often for the incentesives, sooner.

Please include your regions in the future for any meaningful comparable discussion, like the others.

You might know each other's region but it makes comparison with one's own experience basicly impossible.

  • For any of that killer player would need to quit en masse to make their argument FELT but most that play are way too addicted to this game do that and will simply swallow the state of the game bar the few that voice their opinion on theses forums.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

Nobody in this thread said that. You're making up someone to be upset with. Very very strange.

The notion of "punishing the player for their killer choice" was mentioned a few times before my comment?

I simply made a jab at the parallels in "nerf swf" threads where people talk about "punishing players for playing with their friends".

Both ideas are similar unhealthy for the game.

And I even marked it as sarcasm with "/S", is that not enough anymore? Do we have to fully spell it out now?

  • Hey if we now punish killer player for playing the character they like, does that mean we can now also punish survivor for playing with their friend and nerf/disincentivice swf? /S

One of the most ridiculous takes i have seen here🤦

The incentive idea is way more feasible. But with that you would also get complains like "killer already get more BP" or "what about survivor", maybe also give something like that for solo when the swf ratio gets too high or something (can't give a flat out bonus for solo all the time).

  • @Erenior said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344143#Comment_3344143

Interesting post, really. i mean its a bit harsh to compare "need for food" with "need for win" but i get your point.

i know its within every human that we would like to win, to be the best. but then again it is a game and from what ive read in this very forum there are many players that usually have fun in dbd IF they win. the premise of a game should be entertainment. and i would just like to know why some players in dbd go for something like "fun is winning". and yes i also know that it is hard to write about it if you belong to the ones that play sweaty for every match because they need to win... but maybe there are some more people who would like to share their experience and/or emotions on this :)

Well my take on it is that in prehistoric times the "need to win" was equal to the "need for food" when all was survival of the fittest/strongest/wealthiest/most attractive one.

Only by winning in the competition/comparison with others could you survive. The alpha always had the freedom of choice.

It's a basic instinct for us to still think like that. Even in education the one with full marks is the most respected one, at least by the teachers (mobbing and similar negative feedback aside).

And while i myself understand the underlying fundamentals, i have stopped trying to be the best/winner because it is unrealistic.

  • And I have already seen people ask for more regression perks to apply CURRENT gen progress instead of absolut percentages. 😂

  • @Topic the "urge to win" is something instinctive to all humans or even lifeforms. From the battle for food to the distribution of resources like mating in the animal kingdom, the winner survives and "gets the girl" (just as easy examples).

Telling people to not try to win is telling them to go against their instincts.

Sure, in our civilized world it is no longer necessary to the same degree but we can see it still all around. People with the drive to succeed or WIN will always end up ahead of the people taking it slow to "have fun".

The desire to win isn't something bad, stressing out over having to win all the time, that's something unhealthy.

But in respect to DBD i did the experiment and from what I saw not trying to win won't get the other side to pull their punches, so why bother.

  • @Quizzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344107#Comment_3344107

But dbd isnt a comp game no matter how much u want it to be. It will never be fortnite. It will never be apex legends. The comp scene for dbd will never see traction because this game is literally rng dependent regardless if you have restrictions on perks.

Ah I love the usual fallacy of competitive=eSports.

To use one of the example from @Simfeliz you choose to ignore, even Monopoly a board game is a "competitive" game since you COMPETE with other players over the dominance of the board (streets) and the money in play.

DBD isn't a party game like Mario party, guitar hero and other games where you exclusively play with AND against each other.

The killer is NEVER part of the party. They are ALWAYS the opponent/enemy/adversary.

And unlike for example a dungeon master in Dnd, they aren't there to provide excitement for the party but to achieve their own agenda aka killing/eliminating the party.

It's never PvE but always PvP.

I don't remember an achievement dedicated to Hex: Devour. Was it "Blood in Your Mouth" (kill a total of 25 survivors by your own hand)? The only other one I can recall where Devour is helpful would be "I See You" (down 30 survivors that are exposed).

Yeah, i guess you are right. It was most probably the "blood in your face/in your mouth". I was sure there was an equivalent for the "evil incarnated" achievement for devour hope.

But nonetheless my original point stands, just relax and don't try hard for something specific if you don't want to stress out.

  • It either promotes slugging which survivor already hate or will be absolutely useless besides miniscule gen regress that isn't worth the time invested to set up most of the time.

  • You shouldn't focus so much on it. Just play and it will happen in time.

Everything else is just a recipe for stress.

An example from my experience is the hex:devour 4 Mori achievement. I never intentionally looked for it and when it happen didn't even know that it existed. I just did a game with hag for a daily and since i had only crap perks unlocked on her i just used her own plus old bbq and it just happened.

But i was happy nonetheless and can only imagine the stress and frustration actively trying to go for it only for survivor to successfully cleanse the totem midway, one of them DCing (especially the last one is most frustrating when denying you) or they manage to open the gates since i was too focused on the achievement and forgot to pressure them.

Tldr: Just relax, play and it will happen some time.

Since I've been able to use my eyes.

The Nea making direct eye contact with me as she slams into walls probably has Dead Hard, I don't feel like that's very difficult to ascertain

Ah yes sorry, i forgot that's always this exact same scenario with every survivor and no survivor without dead hard ever looks behind them 🙄

  • @sulaiman said:

It didnt work as a counterargument, because unlike the killer in a chase with a dead hard user, a solo survivor on a gen has no knowledge on when to wait it out. The fact that you dont know the difference seems to say all about how usefull a discussion with you about dbd balance is.

Since when does a killer know that the survivor in front of them has dead hard if it wasn't already successfully used against them once before.

That's one of the complaints that dh just like DS give through uncertainty alone a benefit for survivor as a whole.

  • @foodie said:

    It will still be useful.

If you have to rely solely on perks to have a good match, perhaps ask yourself what can you do or learn to be a better killer or suggest an improvement for the killer you play.

For months, I was seeing posts about the perk being "overpowered". Devs listened and now "oh but why are you nerfing the only good perk"

    "It will be useful?"

10% regress of CURRENT progression aka anything between 0-8,9 seconds of a gen. Survivor will have that undone before the killer even fully hooked the downed.

And the 10 second aura read AFTER A DOWN?

Either it will be completely useless because it takes longer to pickup, carry and hook the downed survivor OR it promotes more slugging especially on mobility killers, which i am sure every survivor will love (or hope it will encourage consideration for basekit UB).

But hey, i don't care. I haven't played in over a year, so i don't even have the perk much less ever used it but keep assuming stuff 😘

I am here only to kill time and for entertainment.

  • @foodie said:

So for months people complain about eruption and how overpowered it is. ok, devs are changing that, and now everyone is complaining about the nerf.

There is a difference between a "nerf" and a "butchering" aka the difference between tweaking something and making it borderline useless.

  • @egg_ said:

Because the ideas the community came up with were utter trash? I'm really glad bhvr doesn't actually listen to them most of the times, especially most people in this forum

"Block the gen instead of giving incapacitated" wowzr so instead of staring at nothing because of incapacitated we can stare at nothing because the gen is blocked, or do a totem because that's useful. As if we didn't have already DMS and deadlock that block gens long enough

"Nerf incapacitated but buff the regression" because we totally need more regression, as if we don't have enough synergic slowdowns. I really loved back then getting my gen regressed 40% because of pr+pop. Such a fun mechanic

The aura reveal isn't even bad. Killers with high mobility and slugging killers can make a really good use of it (plague, oni?)

Because the high mobility killer and slugging are already sooo loved by survivors and not the aim of a multitude of complaints 😂

Maybe you hope basekit UB might still come with more slugging and more nurse/blight might finally lead to the much desired nerfs?

  • Damn people falling for an OBVIOUS troll/bait/joke post aimed at the other threads predicting complaints about pain res once eruption is gone.

  • Brave of you assuming the devs would even want to save eruption XD

  • Fun fact, if every killer player would focus on the top 5 killers, the only thing that would probably happen from that "protest" is the nerfing of those 5 killers 😂

  • Oh, i expected a solution coming with that title 😂

    @Pulsar said:

Games as fair as it's ever been, Survivors have been consistently nerfed since 2016.

There's still a couple issues to iron out, of course. However, DBD is FAR from the game it was when I started playing, it's much fairer and more rewarding of skill.

As I said in some other thread a few months ago:

Going from a 3 vs 10, in terms of strength or balance, to a 7vs 10 is of course way better but still not nearly enough. (Again numbers are just arbitrary for visual assistance and not a measure of game state in any form)

And of course we still have the problem of solo and swf difference ending with a 5/6 - 7 - 10 at the moment. And killer characters themselves ranging from, i don't know, 4-11.

I've been apart of a lot of gaming communities since 2014.

DBD is by far the most toxic, perhaps only being challenged by old CoD.

Have you played league of legends, there were times where it was quite entertaining in chat. Thank God for individual instant mute.

Btw OPs Name checks out 😑

  • Everything that is helpful to either side AND used a lot will be complained about, no matter it's actual strength.

Thoughts on WoO itself, it's a useful crutch (not meant to be negative, more literally), that immensely helps with map ring and makes knowing every map layout in and out unnecessary.

But i would call it a double edged sword just like Shadowborn and stridor were/are for killers. People get to used to the "comfort"/advantage the perk gives, meanwhile their senses get used to this false norm and when they don't have said perk or it gets blocked they are suddenly way worse than before using those perks excessively.

  • Damn, a new chapter again already?

It feels like it hasn't even been that long since knight since he is still such a hot topic on the forums.

Once again reminds me how fast bhvr churns out new content instead of making sure old stuff is fixed.
